That is easily The Hardest Goodbye which I poured my grief into and I think it really shows.

I think that's definitely Breakfast 🥰

So far I have not, and I hope it stays that way 😅

Sometimes, but I struggle with it. I still get nervous posting any and am not at all confident in it 😅

I haven't yet, but I won't say I never will. Who knows where the muses will take me??

@halesshepardn7 and I have been working on a collab fic that features both of our Shepards for a few years and someday we'll finally start posting it. I'm honestly so impressed with what we have completed so far!! 🥰

14). What’s your all-time favorite ship?

Shenko. Natasha and Kaidan are my absolute favorite, and I love everything about them. My little blorbos from my video game 🥺

15). What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Honestly, I don't really have anything for this. I currently intend to finish every single project I've started. It may take a while, but the desire is there! Life is very busy when you're a mom of three young kids and I know eventually I'll have more time on my hands than I know what to do with 🥺

16). What are your writing strengths?

I'd say it's getting emotions through in my writing. I focus a lot on that and it's what a lot of people tend to pick up on most in my works.

17). What are your writing weaknesses?

My process for writing is very chaotic and I tend to edit a lot. Sometimes I probably overdo it. I'm also just not very confident about my writing in general, but especially when it comes to writing smut or action 😅 I can get lost in the little details.

18). Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?

I have no problem with this, I just haven't done it much. Just a few words in Spanish here and there for a few characters (Reyes, Lucanis, Viago, Illario, Vega, etc.).

19). First fandom you wrote for?

Yu-Gi-Oh! back in middle school, with my irl bestie @hellkaisersangel we were writing fanfic and passing it back and forth before we even knew what fanfic was 🤣 all those composition books and binders full of our silly little stories 🥰

20). Favorite fic you’ve ever written?

It's probably a tie between Breakfast and A Crow Never Forgets. I had so much fun with Breakfast, and A Crow Never Forgets is proving to be just as much fun! I'm really enjoying the process of writing it and that always makes it easier to get done!

What’s your total ao3 word count? 50,585

What fandoms do you write for? I have written for Mass Effect (Trilogy + Andromeda), Harry Potter, Rivers of London, Firefly, The Memoirs of Lady Trent, Rogue One, … mostly a small number of fics each, it seems that I'm a fandom hopper. I can't say what I'm working on at the moment, for reasons of (exchange related) secrecy, but my other WIP that I can talk about is for this one German crime TV show that's got a new episode upcoming soon, Tatort (the Saarbrücken version).

What are your top five fics by kudos? Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Yes, I usually respond to comments, but sometimes they sit for a (really long) while in my inbox before I answer because I want to look at them in the preview of my unread comments. Why do I answer? Always in the hopes of awesome dialogue :D but also to show my appreciation for the commenters

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? My first impulse was to say that I don't do pure angst without happy endings, but that's not true: I've written two Mass Effect fics that fit the bill. One is wistful and introspective about a failed relationship between Ryder and Reyes Vidal, but the other is more angsty: "under the burning sun", a story set between ME1 and ME2 in which Shepard & Kaidan return to Virmire to grieve Ashley. It's a story about grief and doesn't have a happy or even hopeful ending. They lost someone they didn't want to lose.

What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I'm not sure it's the happiest, but my fluffiest ending is in "Spürst du die Funken", my (German language) Dean/Seamus getting together story with gay Seamus & grayromantic bi Dean that I'm still meaning to translate into English some day.

Do you get hate on fic? I've never gotten hate on fic. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

Do you write smut? Not until recently, and I haven't published anything yet. One of my Tatort Saarbrücken fics is going to be very smutty though. Like, pure smut with a side order of character development.

Do you write crossovers? I haven't published any crossovers yet, but one of my WIPs is a Rivers of London / The Old Guard crossover in which they're in the same world, and Peter becomes the same kind of immortal as the Old Guard.

Have you ever had a fic stolen? As far as I know, no.

Have you ever had a fic translated? No, not so far.

Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes, it's one of the Tatort Saarbrücken WIPs! With @shakespearerants . We're kind of stuck on the editing though because I can't find the time for getting back into it.

What’s your all-time favourite ship? I'm a multishipper (multiple ships even for the same character), how am I supposed to have an all-time favourite? Also, since I'm not that prolific and I'm a fandom hopper, there aren't many pairings for which I've written much. I guess Ron/Hermione is the pairing I've written the most? But that's, like, 3 oneshots.

What’s a WIP you want to finish but probably won’t? I haven't given up hope for any of them. There are some I don't want to finish because I've lost interest, but for the rest, I'm still keeping up hope. There is one that has a low priority though, and that's a fic for the book "Firebrand" in the Green Rider series in which Zachary and Estora have consensual but very bad (and from Zachary's side unwanted) sex. I started it because their dynamic was so uncomfortable in that book, everyone acting as if everything was alright, even Zachary himself, and I wanted to explore what I felt was an approach more true to the emotional reality of the situation.

What are your writing strengths? Introspection and emotions. Also, landscapes and travel logistics, I think. But I'd be interested to hear other people's opinions on that, obviously.

What are your writing weaknesses? Dialogue. I'm used to writing introspection. I love lingering in the internal thoughts and feelings of my POV character, and since that's the kind of role play writing I've done for almost 10 years now, I'm good at it (and in German, I can do it subtly). But it doesn't lend itself to the rhythm a good dialogue needs to have, so I always struggle with that. I should try to get more into theatre.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I'd do it if it fit my story, but I have strong feelings about how to do it. It has to fit the situation and the characters, and having dialogue in another language than the fic is a stylistic choice that tells us something about the POV character and the other characters. So you'd have to do it very deliberately. Also, I'm particular about bilingualism and accents. Mostly, I don't show accents in written speech, especially when it's not something the characters would notice. A good example of how I use other languages and accents of other languages in fics would be "What we're made of", my trans Viktor Krum story. I wrote it from his point of view, so of course he doesn't notice his own accent in English, how his pronounciation differs from, e.g., Hermione's. In his dialogue, I write him making grammar mistakes I think a native speaker of Bulgarian could make in English (extrapolating from my experience of Bulgarians speaking German, adapted to English grammar), but in his internal thoughts, I use normal English grammar because he thinks in grammatically correct Bulgarian, even though I don't comment on it.

First fandom you wrote for? The very first I wrote for was some horse girl book I had as a child. The first I published were for Harry Potter.

Favourite fic you’ve written? To Serve the Sacred, a very niche Mass Effect Andromeda worldbuilding fic from the POV of a Kett soldier, a view into the internal politics and religion of the Kett, which are the (on the surface generic) bad guys of the game. There's a lot of implied lore, and I'm exploring that. I still want to write an continuation of the game in which I'd explore it even more, as I have a big interconnected headcanon for why they are the way they are. Anyway, that fic has 21 hits and 3 kudos, but I'm immensely proud of it.

Wait fuck I need to revise my GOTY list from my previous post because I clean forgot about Octopath Traveler II and Dredge! (Also that they came out earlier this year instead of last year like my brain kept insisting. I think because of how rough of a year it's been for me overall my memory/sense of time in regards to events that happened this year is a bit screwy in some spots. In particular I think my memory shunted the entire first three or four months of 2023 back into 2022 because it was before everything went to shit.)

Anyway so far my GOTY picks are, in no particular order:

Slay the Princess, Octopath Traveler II, Baldur's Gate 3, Rune Factory 5, and Dredge.

With Honorable Mentions to both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. For being good games in general imo but also for being the best experience I've had with a Zelda game. Good stuff.

Yes I know some of those games came out earlier than 2023 but sssssh I first played them in 2023/or started playing them in earnest in 2023 so I say it counts.

Also, while they're not GOTY picks, some games I played a lot in 2023 and helped me get through the year- Vampire Survivors, Potioncraft, the 'Ever Seen a Cat' Trilogy (a series of hidden object games), and Bobbl (a new game for the NES that someone made that's on Itch.io, I play it on an emulator), Mothkeeper (an itch.io game that's basically what it says on the tin), and Andromeda Six (a WIP Visual Novel, also on itch.io).

It is about poc, Indigenous, queer, & disabled characters. Book one is called Shadows of War: The Battle of the Ten Realms of Yggdrasil. Book two is called Warring Kingdoms: The Battle of the Twenty Five Houses: The Federation of Aehinara. Book three is called Alpha Centurion War: The Battle of the Andromeda Galaxy and the Battle of the Milky Way Galaxy. Fandom(s): My first big fandom was HP. I wrote a little bit in German for Firefly and Discworld, and then in English for Green Rider, Rogue One, Good Omens, Mass Effect (trilogy + Andromeda), Rivers of London and The Memoirs of Lady Trent.

Number of fics: 23 on ao3. There are some, especially older HP stories on ff.de, that I haven't archived on ao3.

1. Fic you spent the most time on: I have a 70k unpublished (German) Minerva McGonagall/Pomona Sprout schoolgirl romance on my hard drive that would need a lot of reworking in order to be in a shape I would consider putting out there. I worked on that for a year on and off, and then for a summer intensely. From my published work: Probably my RoL one, Bintumani, because it's 12k and the words have to have come from somewhere. Also I spent a lot of time conversing with my beta reader and editing the fic.

2. Fic you spent the least time on: Sleepless Night, the 200 word Good Omens ficlet that I literally typed on my phone instead of sleeping.

3. Longest fic: Bintumani, my Rivers of London travel adventure with Elsie Winstanley and Mamusu Grant in the late 1970s in Sierra Leone which I wrote for yuletide last year.

4. Shortest fic: again Sleepless Night with 200 words :D

5. Most hits: For my English works: What we're made of, my trans Viktor Krum with Hermione at the yule ball HP fic that I wrote for the Trans Wizarding Tournament (a charity auction for trans organisations). But overall, if I count fanfiktion.de, it's Spürst du die Funken, my Dean Thomas/Seamus Finnigan getting together that I still want to translate into English. I have the half finished translation on my hard drive.

9. Fic you want to rewrite/expand on: oh that's easy! I want to expand on To Serve the Sacred, my latest ME Andromeda fic. It's part of a big worldbuilding headcanon I have and I would love to put more of it into a story. Much of the worldbuilding (and the story I linked above) is about the game's Bad Guys, and a) I would need to make readers care about it and b) it would be more interesting to write it from the perspective of known characters. The worldbuilding reveals/twists that I want to do are very clear in my head, and I have a vague idea how to set it up in a story, but ... I need to work out the details, especially which characters I'd use as POV characters. Probably the other Ryder twin, but they'd need a team too, and the characters are only slowly starting to take shape. Also it's such a big project that I've put it on the backburner for now bc I don't have the time for writing plot / novel length fic in English.

10. Share a bit of your WIP or share a story idea that you’re planning: I'm only writing in German right now because that flows easier. My fandom of choice is that one German detective/crime show with the dysfunctional homoerotic dynamic between two of the leads that gets to no1 trending on tumblr once year when there's a new episode. This is now for a story about teenage queer self discovery: (Sorry I tried putting it through Google Translate to share an English version but the translation is terrible.)

so this draft now sits at 85.7K, which is about 11.8K added from the first, and although it is still faaar from perfect it is definitely... better than the draft i finished 2 years ago. it's insane how much my writing has improved, between all the reading i've been doing and first drafting the two sequels of the trilogy.

that being said there still are a lot of things i know need to be fixed, but i'm at the point where if i try to fix them on my own i'll be stuck on them forever.

enter the betas!!! i'm planning on doing an ~official~ beta call next week but honestly if you're interested in beta-ing this book feel free to hmu right away!! ultimately i want to self-pub this thing (which is quite overwhelming to think about hhhhh) but one thing at a time :')

☆ FEATURED EXCERPT.

i really couldn't decide what snippet to post so this was admittedly chosen a bit at random lmao. this is from when the gang is approaching their destination for their expedition.

On the external display, Mohani loomed ahead, growing larger every second. The planet was almost entirely a deep blue, except for some white spots at its poles. It reminded Finneas of his final glimpse of Ghillairde when he was leaving it behind for the last time. For a disorienting second, it almost felt like he was returning to his birth planet. But soon, the ship was close enough to see the sandy outline of the continents. The blue wasn’t all ocean. Some of it was trees. He directed the ship towards the landing coordinates just as Petra arrived in the bridge, clutching several barf bags. “Good to see you’ve come prepared, Lacroye,” he commented. “You’re already looking green, and we haven’t even entered the atmosphere yet.” She grumbled something unintelligible in response as she took her place in the copilot’s chair.
