i've said it before and i'll say it again:
if i had a nickel for every mass effect prologue with its protagonist suffocating to death, i'd have two nickels. which isn't a lot, but it is weird that it happened twice...
happy n7 day, soldiers! keelah se'lai.

Back from my very long hiatus with the ninth card in my Mass Effect tarot series. Commander Shepard is the perfect embodiment of The World card. This card ends the cycle of the Major Arcana cards, just as Commander Shepard ends the Reaper Cycle with their final choice. It's a card that signifies completion and achievement, and very worthy of our valiant Commander Shepard as they stare down at Earth. The World: Representing balance and accomplishment, The World is the final card of the Major Arcana suite. Feel a sense of relief as you achieve balance in your life, as well as the connection to the world around you when you find your place in the cycle of life. This card ends The Fool's journey and is often depicted with a dancing person in the center, surrounded by a wreath that signifies the completion and cycle of life.
Please do not repost my art without credit.

Hackett: "If the Illusive Man is good at one thing, it's finding new ways to subvert science. It's never worked for him before, and it won't now" Shepard, who's alive due to the Illusive Man subverting science: "You're so right, boss"

thinking about kaidan begging shepard not to leave—not to leave like everyone before them, like rahna, like ashley, like himself on horizon. kaidan not being able to forgive himself for losing people to his own mistakes. jump zero. walking away from shep. causing himself so much heartache for nothing. stay, stay because you're the only good thing that's happened to me; shepard is the only thing he feels hes done right.
if he lost them he'd never forgive himself. he'd never forgive himself for letting them be the one that got away, letting them walk away, letting everything play out just like it did before.
like jump zero
like virmire
like horizon
he can't lose another friend. he can't lose the one person left that he truly, deeply loves.
it's for this reason he messages shepard apologetically after horizon; he knows it's wrong, and he knows he's pushing shepard away like rahna pushed him away, and god if that isn't eating him alive. so he messages the commander and reassures that he wants to trust them but needs time and needs them away from cerberus.
and in the end it's all for nothing because shepard still leaves like everyone else, and all he can do is hope his words are enough and that the commander's final words to him won't hang so heavy. and he's doing it all over again, watching them die again
i had a point here i dont remember what it was but im getting it

In my ME2 playthrough, I began to think about which Romance Option characters should have been available for both male and female Shepards based on the content in the game. Several characters were originally intended to be and then had the content cut out, but some had content left in that still hinted towards a possible romance even though it couldn't happen.
The most obvious is Jack, who is almost the poster child for "She was obviously supposed to be an option for FemShep before they chickened out". She makes reference to having relationships with both men and women in her past, and though her past relationships ended horribly, they all ended horribly. Up until she shuts down what she thinks is FemShep flirting with her -- saying she's not a "girls club" person -- she treats all of her past relationships exactly the same.
The next is Tali, who actually does flirt with FemShep in the game. It's brief, but the dialogue is identical to when she is flirting with MaleShep. Even more glaring is the info you get from the Shadow Broker's files. They may be DLC, but they're officially canon. In her files you learn that she is attracted to Shepard regardless of gender, researches human courtship and mating rituals, and (most tellingly) uses "Nerve-Stim Pro" while thinking of her.
Thane is less obvious, since there's no affirmative attraction towards MaleShep. However, he has the same near-religious fixation on Shepard regardless of gender. Before joining the Normandy Thane was depressed and passively suicidal, eventually admitting that that he hoped (planned?) to be killed during the Dantius assassination. It was only the challenge of trying to beat Shepard to the kill, and then connecting with Shepard in honest friendship afterwards, that pulled him out of that state. Shepard's mere presence is life-changing for him.
Based on the in-game content, all three of these characters should be an option for Shepard regardless of gender.

It doesn't matter if your Shepard is male or female. It doesn't matter what kind of person they are or what their background is. They must have a thing for Turian waists and hips.
If they don't, they're not really Shepard.

The thing with Jane's tattoos and piercings is that she doesn't openly wear them in the beginning of the ME1 (and in Parable's case, pre-ME1) because she's trying to follow regulations.
However, and-I ask this to piercings havers besides the obvious ears-would someone go through the effort to put in their jewelry while on leave?
