I really enjoyed this episode! I LOVED the focus on Paul, seeing him struggle with accepting parts of his role but ultimately slaying :). Also I'm so glad that everything worked out with the ex wife, that he wasn't actually trying to poison anyone xD, but that ended was rough :'(((. Poor Tommy and Trevor 😭. And Melody, too :(. Anyway, the calls were super fun (and I'm so glad that lady survived 😭🥺❤️), and it was a great time all around :).

Now it's time for the individual parts!

Wyatt! We didn't see too much of him but he was great :D. I love his response and the way he talked to the robot/auto call lol. He was great at his job, as always (and thank goodness - we need that from 911 operators and we luckily get that with the 911 shows <3). I love him ❤️ <3.

Carlos! We only got to see him in the nightmare, but I'm glad we saw him at all :). I miss him ty <33. I'm sure he was doing great at his job somewhere in the real world lol. I love him ❤️.

Mateo and Marjan! The sillies your honor <33. They did great at their jobs today, and I'm so glad they were so supportive of Paul 🥰. Also congrats to Mateo once again on not being the probie anymore 🥳. I know he hasn't been for a while but he was still the most junior/most recent one xD. I love them <3.

Judd! It's rough that he has to be a probie instead of going back to where he was (not a lieutenant necessarily but a full firefighter), but it is a cool layer :)). It's great to see that he's doing well with it, though (though Judd you need to take care of yourself!! Not always just canned beans please <33), and is humble and knows his place :). Like, not in a mean way, or that he shouldn't be respected, but he's not getting uppity about it and even specifically trying to do those jobs so I appreciate it <3. I love him so much 🥰❤️.

Nancy and TK! They're so SILLYYY!! These gossips are too crazy for their own (or anyone else's, specifically Tommy's here lol) good xD. But I love them so much lol <3 ❤️. I'm glad they assured Tommy that she wasn't crazy, but they were pretty immediately jumping to the conclusion(s) of crime lol. Maybe don't do that as much in the future xD. Nonetheless, they were being icons, and they were also great at their jobs this episode :D (as they always are, of course). They were being a little silly sometimes but I vibe with it lol, I love them <3.

Owen! I really appreciated him trusting Paul and letting him figure it out, but also giving him advice. Also of course he was a lieutenant early lol 🙄 xD. He's so silly sldkdjs. Also his fist pump into the air after the compliment sandwich thing xD icon. Anyway, I'm glad he gave Paul a chance to explain and didn't just totally go off at him <3. I know he knows Paul's got this but I'm just so glad he gave him a push and a chance, because Paul really does have this, and I believe in him so much <3. Also, the whole coffee thing at the beginning was hilarious xD. Poor Owen and Judd lol. I love him <3.

Tommy (and Trevor)! The whole thing with the possible poisoning was craazyyy o.o. Again, I'm glad it wasn't actually the ex wife (although she was absolutely being shady, and she shouldn't have so obviously - or at all - blamed Tommy, but whatever 😑 xD), but it sucks that it was Melody :((. And poor girl 😭😭🥺. I feel so bad :(. Obviously I wish she wasn't poisoning people, and I wish she could/wanted to stay for everyone's sake, but this is what's best for her :(. And of course, I'm glad Trevor would go with her - she deserves that. But that scene at the end :(( 😭😭😭💔. It sucks that Tommy and Trevor have to break up for that <333 💔💔. Neither of them deserve that, but I'm glad they're putting their kids first :'(. I did definitely think it was a possibility for Tommy to go at the end of the season, especially since it's the last season (easier to split people up, because no repercussions lol), but I'm glad she's staying <3. It just sucks :((( D: 😭. And that scene at the end 😭😭😭 GOSH, I don't deserve this guys <33. They loved each other so much, and they deserved each other and to be happy <3. But sometimes that just doesn't work out :((. I'm glad they could be civil about their breakup though, that it wasn't for a crazy reason. I love them <33 </33 💔❤️❤️.

Paul! He was so awesome this episode :D. I was TERRIFIED with the nightmare and the knowledge that he'd probably be hurt in some way from the promo, that his heart condition would be causing issues, but thankfully that wasn't it 😭😭❤️. At least not now xdd. I do think it would be more interesting (and who knows if it's this or not) if him having a nightmare was specifically because of his condition, just a symptom despite treatment (and less common now). Anyway! That nightmare sucks 😭. And is also so real to how nightmares be xD. I'm just so glad he was able to talk it out, and get his back fixed by Owen lol!! That was hilarious, and so fair xD. It would be Owen who could do that lol. Also, I'm so happy that lady and her baby were okay <33 😭❤️. I don't think I or Paul could've lived with it if she died because of him hiding his injury xdd. Also the rats thing was crazy o.o. But yeah - I really appreciate that Paul is trying to be reasonable and not abuse his rank (not that he ever would for serious reasons, maybe not even joking - unless someone ate his pudding cup lol), and now also starting to find balance with being able to be in charge and get people to do things as well :). It's really cool to see, and I totally get it personally - it's a hard line to walk sometimes, but if they're really your friends, it'll work out in the end <3. Also, Paul pretending to be fine, and especially doubling down and ignoring people's comments when he was injured - I just felt that so hard. I never want to give up or admit I can't do something, especially when people point it out. Even if I can't. As a disabled person, that just hit really hard (especially since Paul has a disability, even if it hasn't been brought up or seemed to have been affecting him recently). I love how it was portrayed <3. Brian was absolutely perfect at that, and everything this episode. Anyway, I'm also just so glad that at the end they were all like hey :) I love you :) you're still absolutely invited to game night, you're our family <3 and good job at being lieutenant ;). Love that for them, and Paul absolutely needed to hear it - so glad he got to <3 😭🥺. I love him so much <333 ❤️🥰🥰.

Overall, I really liked this episode! I had a great time with the calls and the various storylines, even if they were stressful, and I'm glad everything worked out in the end (except for Tommy - sorry, Tommy xd). Also, I just love my little fire family so much :). They're perfect <3. I know they aren't, and it was shown this episode (and every episode) and seems to be shown again next episode lol, but I don't care xD <3. I just really loved everyone supporting each other this episode, even if it was in kinda gossipy or sometimes harsher ways (as was called for). I love them all so much <3.

So, yeah! I really enjoyed this episode, I thought it was amazing. Stressful, but amazing. I'm so excited for the next one! This has been my review of. . .

Rambling thoughts while rewatching Lone Star ep 4x11 – Double Trouble (Finishing Edging the Bet made it so that I am just now getting to a rewatch of the episode (only watched it live))

The pregnancy & dropping out were my two biggest suspicions for Wyatt’s news

Joining the FD was a little farther on my list – but I didn’t expect to see three announcements (although technically – you could combine the dropping out & FD thing together)

The “I’d like to teach the world to sing” reminds me of the kid songs videos – it was on the “Teach the world to sing” (we had it on VHS – because I am old).

Ep 7, finally! Sorry fellas took a while.

I will try to skip past the Despair destiel parallels since they've been mentioned often enough and focus on other stuff i find interesting.

Ok 1stly Carlos jokingly saying they should try jumper cables for the Ostium only to then look back at Lata judgingly was A++ friendship moments.

Love the Tony mention from Ada so much!

I will say all the shell company and warehouse talk reminds me of spn season 7 and the Leviathan plans which to be fair, the Akrida's plans are basically the same. Both hungry, some type of shapshifting beings. Kinda wanna know which came first for Chuck, cuz we know the Leviathan are meant to have been genuine creature vs the Akrida who were deliberately made as fail safe plague.

Mary big mad this ep beginning and it's all because of her worry.

God I still love the Akrida design and I also adore their growls!!! Tho I add that the fact that they can feel pain but cannot be killed save for something out of this world is hella intriguing, feels like something a, to quote Chuck, "cruel, capricious God" would do.

I adore Carlos brain! They're soooo smart and it's constantly shown in all the subtle ways but it's so consistent throughout that I love it. And not just generally, but also emotionally speaking, especially highlighted in the scene with Mary. Putting the right blame on the shifters, being honest about dealing or not with their parents death and still succeeding in bringing Mary's spirit up.

Why would John be so shocked that Henry would've written something for the MoL? Henry was a MoL so it really shouldn't be that surprising that he wrote stuff down. I personally think it's because he chose not to ask more questions because it would've fucked with him too much and he couldn't handle it.

Millie in the Clubhouse! Finally! She's still too harsh, but this time I tend to give her tiny bit more benefit of the doubt since it's obvious being in the Clubhouse is bringing up all the very complicated feelings she has deliberately not dealt with about Henry. It's why she can go from mentioning love letters with a soft gentle loving tone one moment and then insulting Henry's chicken scratch and its supposed use in saving the world. She has dealt a lot more with her feelings about Henry these past... weeks months? since all the stuff began, especially having received a clear answer about where Henry disappear to (he died), but that in many ways likely made it so much more complicated because the anger hasnt gone away but now it feels almost unfair to aim it so much at someone that seems to have not had a choice in abandoning them as she initially thought. She's still mad tho, not just because of that but also because she was never allowing in by Henry, not really, and we learn later that he deliberately distanced himself from her as well so being invited to the Clubhouse is a huge step in slotting into place what she feels. It's also why I think she demands so staunchly to know exactly what's happening because last time she didn't, Henry died.

The implication that Samuel Campbell is messy from Mary gave me such a John's room in Pilot vibes. Love that parallel (read: hate)

The mention from the Akrida possessing Roxy bout Roxy's beauty is made sooo much worse by the later episode about her possession, but with it in my mind, it give such icky vibes now. Besides the sheer disregard about Roxy's life. It makes it even more clear how much humans are just things for the Akrida to use and discard whenever. And that will only be made more apparent in later episodes.

Carlos' miiind!! The hex bag!! God I love them.

Interesting just for me I guess, but the fact that u just need to know the ingredients of a hex bag to find it, is sooo fun. I have so many questions.

I also love seeing Millie adjusting to the whole supernatural thing, her mind just going and her saying shit only to find out she might actually be onto something to them using her plan. Love that, especially love that it happens in connection to Ada. Millie and Ada have been pretty linked throughout the show so far, and I love that it's while Millie is talking to Ada, one of the few people who actually knew Henry and Henry allowed in, that she gets the idea she does. I also think it's very important that Ada does tell her the stuff Millie didnt know.

Ok, maybe controversial opinion here but I actually agree with Ada here, John is not closed off like Henry. He just isnt here. He is extremly reactive which means you will know what you get with him cuz he will make it clear, in a very bone headed way, sure , but it will be clear what he feels. There are of course things he doesn't disclose, but it aint about him being open, its just that he isnt closed off like Henry. Henry who his wife thought didnt even think of her or if he did it wasn't good terms at least toward the end, Henry who planted a protective plant for his family but never said anything about it. John, in spn, certainly does become closed off like that, id say he gets even more closed off but not this John, not yet and hopefully never. This john is just angry. Really angry, but it's still not the same insurmountable situation.

I kinda love that Millie sold her wedding ring, it makes sense on so many levels. 1. Shes a single mom with a business to run. 2. She s trying to distance herself from the pain Hwnry left her with. 3. She is very much a dont think about it and it'll not affect you denial stage of grief person.

The music box!

It says shit about Millie that she didnt know john still had the music box all these years. It makes it clear which parts of John's life she paid attention to (or could allow herself to pay attention to) and which not.

I hate that they cant actually deal with any of the stuff because of the short window they have, but that's how things are right? both generally and def in the spn verse, you never have the space or time to actually confront the person thats traumatised you, not really, you just have small pockets of chances to process what happened in the middle of world ending events.

Fun fact, I rewatched Inside Man recently and the spell they use here to summon Henry is the exact same one Sam and Cas use to talk to Bobby in Heaven. And the fucking meaning always hurts me, cuz it calls onto dead loved ones to answers their calls/questions abd it feels like a prayer to me tbh. I also headcannon that the reason the spell works differently here is because Henry was still in the veil rather than in heaven, but ive nothing to substantiate that.

Once more Mary and John have such a genuine relationship tho, they really are honest with each other as often as they can because of the connection and similarities they felt when they first met and everything experienced since. Unlike their spn counterparts who were very much not honest about themselves.

I really love that John gets to hear Henry unequivocally say "it was my fault, not yours". It's so so important, both that Henry immediately owned up to it, and that he made sure to let John know first that it wasnt anything he did and that he wanted to explain everything.

I also wanna point out the immediate dif in Henry's demeanor once John mentions the Akrida aka work. Henry instantly compartmentalizes alll the feels he had about seeing John and getting to see Millie because he very much knows the importance. Better to have ur family alive even though you can't get closure than risk their lives just to explain yourself.

The paaaiiinnn, the emotionssss ahhhhh!! They can't get through everything they want to say but they make sure to say the things they need and my heart hurts now thx! Im very glad Millie got to see him though. It helped close another leaking wound in her. Damn this whole ep is Millie being put through the emotional wringer as much as John and Mary are. It prolly felt really good to hit the cop in the face with a bat after all that.

Love Mary's fighting advice. It shows she gets the urgency and the need to not linger on too long since the end goal isnt to kick ass, but to actually defeat the Akrida. Her hubting experience shows and her reason for doing this shows too.

I just know Lara wouldve had a field day if she couldve gotten that monster essence. So sad for her actually.

Also you know if Ada had been left to her own devices she wouldve followed Tragic Haircut and found the Akrida queens location. We've seen she can be very cutthroat when needed and her input wasn't really needed in the van, but it was needed to follow the Akrida. Thats what i think anyways. Millie for all her harshness, would never leave the kids behind. Shes suprising soft underneath it all, Ada is surpsingly cutthroat. Yay more parallel and contrasts between them.

Oh Mary, you were wrong there and it almost cost you dearly (just like how Dean going after Billie assuming shes thanosing people went wrong). Love the call back to their first meeting. Hate the despair vibes cuz ouch. Samuel to the rescue, congrats, you did the bare minimum. ( i am not a fan of Samuel and all the call backs to Spn!john only make it worse everytime, especially the heroic last second save when he's been mia and shitty throughout otherwise).

God can't wait talking about the queen when she finally appears properly.

So the line from episode 2’s disaster dinner “I don’t do this often” I know that a lot of people interpret as Carlos not hooking up and doing the one night stand thing often but I always HC it as him being a one night stander but never trying to reach out and do the romance thing.

“I don’t do this often.” - “I don’t try and take it further.”

He just gave me the vibe of someone that would have bolted the doors if a man wanted to take it further because he didn’t want to deal with the whole parent/already married thing!

I know that goes against the usual grain of that scene but I love to think that he was so smitten with TK he attempted to woe this man, something he doesn’t do often, because he knew he was different.

Dream Tarlos storyline…

Honestly at this point I would just like them to do something together that’s outside of the Loft and doesn’t involve a bit emotional speech. Those are lovely but also let them laugh! Let them go bowling! A picnic! Anything!

On the dramatic side I would love to have them work as a team again to save someone. We almost got it in the season 1 finale.

- this one has Buck coming down with a cold after a water rescue, and whOOPS the cold gets worse because he doesn’t know how to pace himself ever and winds up with pneumonia

- this one takes place after that damn well/Eddie almost drowning episode that was dangerously close to ruining me and has Eddie ending up sick because bro’s been through a lot okay? 

- this one happens after we learn Eddie’s been fighting for sport because his boyfriend Buck hurt him realy badly. Basically, Buck finds out and he’s nOt happy about it

- this one has Buck meeting Eddie at a hospital bc Christopher’s been sick, but he finds out that Eddie’s also sick and has to take care of both his boys 

- this one has Buck feeling anxious, sad, and insecure and just overall not having a great day and boyfriend Eddie’s the only one who really picks up on it and goes to help

- this one is a little Valentine’s Day fic where Eddie and Buck have dinner plans but dinner plans end up not being dinner plans because Buck’s sick and tries to ignore it bc [cue heart eyes] Eddie

- this one has Buck getting stuck in a burning building a little too long and he gave his oxygen mask to someone else bc of cOURSE he did and he’s a little woozy and Eddie’s a lot not happy and gets him out despite his shoulder being a little not great at the moment (dislocated; his shoulder’s dislocated bc the two can’t just keep themselves together)

- this one has TK getting trapped on a call and Carlos pANICS bc of feeLINGS and goes in to save him and there’s some after hopsital revelations to be made

- this one’s a little role reversal where Carlos gets hurt on the job, and TK seems like he’s the last person to find out and he’s 100% not happy and is 100% going to take care of Carlos

- this one has TK thinking he picked up a small cold from Carlos so he goes about his business but gets worse and passes out while on a call bc his single brain cell is stretched a little thin

- this one is season 1 setting (catching a trend here? lmao) that has TK kind of running himself into the ground trying to be the perfect son after he learns about Owen’s diagnosis but he disregards it bc Owen is more improtant and ends up at Carlos’s house later in the night, where Carlos very quickly learns he’s not here to vibe with fever sex

- this one has Carlos working too hard to catch a dangerous man and he ends up collapsing after they finally catch him so Michelle brings him to TK, and TK’s left to deal with a feverish, tired, yet still very much on edge Carlos

I don't know if any one else prepared themselves for the pilot like I did (probably so) by watching all the important John and Mary lore centric episodes. I'm glad I did though, because it gave me a nice refresher on important elements of each of their pasts. Not to say I didn't already know their story (I've watched every episode, minus 15×20, at least 4 times so...) but it was like having a good cram session before a test. That being said I have a few thoughts on the pilot that I wanted to write down. Mostly for me to go back on in the future to see how my opinions may have changed. Anyway, SPOILERS AHEAD

CHARACTERS

ADA

Starting off with Ada because the least is known about her, but I like her so far. Strong, mysterious, smart, has worked with MOL before, owns a rare bookshop (which, let's be real here, for a black woman in the early 70s is impressive as hell). Vey much looking forward to seeing more of her.

MILLIE ( Momma Winchester)

Definitely giving Ellen Harvelle vibes. Strong, Independent but bitter. I sympathize with her, of course. She thought her husband ran off on her then her son goes off and lies about his age to join the military, not knowing for 2 years if he would come back alive. I'd be bitter too. But between her and Henry, it's easy to see secret keeping and lying to "protect loved ones" is definitely a Winchester genetic curse. Honestly I'm nervous to see what is going to happen to her, considering she's almmost never (if ever) mentioned in SPN.

LATIKA

I like her. She's vey sweet, if not a bit naive. We know that Samuel saved her life somehow which is how she got involved in everything and that she's known Mary for over a year but inexperienced in actual hunting. She's a pacifist and easily frightened, which doesn't bode well for her hunting career, but very eager to get out onto the field. Of all the characters so far though, she's to one I'm most concerned about. Her devotion to Samuel, coupled with her naivety and pacifism is a combo that could easily get her killed. I hope I'm wrong, but this is the SPNverse so...

CARLOS

Love him. He definitely felt like the most in-place character for the time setting. And being openly bisexual in the 1970s? Legendary. He's very aloof, obviously a player, hippie "free love" vibes. He got into hunting after his family was slaughtered by a gouhl. Something happened between him and Mary ( macking on her ex and bailing on a hunt of some kind) but he apparently carries a torch for her. I like that he has a takes charge vibe and obviously believes in a "hands-on learning" approach when it comes to hunting. He seems to have a lot of faith in people's abilities to suprise themselves. My only concern is that his additude is going to get someone killed. I also feel like there is going to be some tension bettween him and John regarding Mary in the future.

MARY

She's vey much Mary Winchester. Some people might not agree, but I think most people are looking at Mary the mother, Mary the wife, not Mary the young daughter of a hunter. Mary the young girl who wanted nothing to do with hunting but had no choice. Mary the young girl who is still in mourning over the death of her cousin, a death she blames heself for. Pre John, Pre Sam and Dean, Pre Azazel Mary. We're seeing a Mary who isn't responsible for anybody but the people she saves. A Free Mary if you will. But still her. She's a badass fighter, which she always has been. She has a caring quality to her but is still standoffish in a way. She would rather walk away from human confrontation than talk it out (Same ole Mary) and she definitely acts before she thinks. Now, I've had a multitude of mixed feelings on Mary ever since season 12 of SPN, mostly veering towards frustration. She's not a simple character, she never has been. She has layers and not every layer is all that likeable. But one thing about Mary that I do respect is consistency. Did she try to be a good mom, a good wife? Yes. Did she always succeed? Hell no. She has always had a layer of defiance and selfishness hidden under whatever mask she was wearing at the time, even when it came at the expense of others. But she also has always had a need to protect. I'm not going into how I felt about her abandoning S&D in SPN because that's an essay in and of itself, but overall I can say I definitely feel like they got Mary's characterization right in TW. Hopefully they'll grow with that.

John Winchester

*deep aggravated sigh* John motherf*king Winchester. The hardest thing we are all going to have to accept about this series is that this is pre Azazel John and therefore, not the ruthless SOB that we love to hate. Truth is, when we first met the Wichester parents in season 4 of SPN Mary described John as sweet, kind, and someone, who despite everything, still believed in a happily everafter, everything a hunter isn't. That is the John we are going to be seeing. Now, I am , in no way, trying to be a John apologist. I personally think he should have stayed in hell after what he did to his children. I will make no excuses for the man he became. However, this is him before he became that man. That being said, I'm still not sure I like him. He's obviously suffering from severe PTSD after watching his friend get blown up and needs to talk about it. Not just say this is what happened, but actually sit down with someone and talk about it. I realize it's the 70s and therapy wasn't as readily available as it is today (which casued a multitude of problems irl after 'nam with messed up soldiers but I digress) but jesus christ Winchester, get some therapy. Because of this he has an obvious death wish. Right off the bat he puts himself in danger without any knowledge of how to handle what he is facing. He also has a "White Knight" complex that I cannot stand (and again have seen in real life soldiers fresh out of combat so bravo for accuracy there). He is very cocky, and sure of himself, which is going to put someone in danger. He's flirtatious (we all saw the Latika scene) and while not neccesarily a bad trait, it will most likely cause a distraction that isn't needed in a time where focus is necessary. I definitely see traces of the John we know. Looks like he always had trouble of letting go of the past at the expense of others, very on brand. I can definitely see where Dean was coming from when he said Sam was just like their father. It's interesting for sure and I'm reluctant to say this but, I'm ready to learn more about him.

STORY

It's alot. Like a lot. It feels like they did their damndest to pack as much exposition in as possible which made for and extremely fast pace3 pilot. There wasn't a whole bunch of down time in the episode to reflect on things which can be a good thing, midseason, but was a little wonky for the pilot. We got introduced to a few new characters as well as reintroduced to some old ones with some glimpses of backstory and it honestly could have been split into two parts to ease the pacing but overall I'm intrigued.

Some key points:

John's PTSD is definitely going to bite them in the ass, though it was interesting to see he always had a willingness to bleed for mary when he cut his friend's cross out of his arm.

Samuel leaving Mary and Deanna alone to go off on a hunt seemed off. I realize it was used as a plot device to tie in with SPN but it felt...hmmm....I'm just not sure I like what certain fans will do with the " finding Mary's dad narrative. Iykyk.

The man who handed John his dad's letter and dissapeared was 100% an Angel. You can't change my mind

Driving to 3 different states in the first episode was a lot but apparently this group is used to it, John however seemed so willing to leave home and travel with them, which made me feel sorry for Millie.

They have a monster box and a lot of info on how to use it due to the library and the MOL club house, which was cool and I want to know more about this stuff but everything was so sped up I couldn't get a grasp on everything they were doing and saying. I'm sure it will be explored more.

While it isn't the first time we've seen that the MOL have used monsters/creatures as guard dogs for their things, I almost wish it would have been a previously known monster. I actually have a lot of complaints about the loup-garou but that's neither here nor there.

I hope to see more of Carlos and Mary's beef regarding that hunt and they don't leave it slightly vague like they did with Bobby and Rufus. I also want to know more about how Samuel saved Latika.

The Akrida. Are we talking Aliens, dimentional creatures, or underworld here? I have a feeling they are going to be a key plot point in why John seems oblivous to everything once we meet him. I'm definitely intrigued, if not a bit apprehensive, but we'll see.

I, personally, enjoyed the little details about John and Mary's first meeting they put in there. Slaugher house 5. Cup of coffe. All that good Jazz, it was nice. I'm still bothered by Zachariah saying they hated each other at first and forever bothered by the random patron of the diner from In The Beginning telling John to say hi to his old man for him, when Henry dissapeared when John was a child, but it's still the pilot so, there's time.

DEAN😭😭😭😭😭

I'm not going to sit here and predt3end I didn't tear up hearing his voice. I'm sure as hell not gonna pretend I didn't cry actually seeing him on my screen again. I was born into this fandom a Dean girl and since nothing in the SPNverse never truly dies, it looks like a Dean girl I shall remain (with occasional Castrash moments obviously).

PRODUCTION

Glorious. The shots in Louisiana were beautiful, I enjoy the music accompaniment and that it isn't so loud that it overtakes the dialogue *coughcough* but gives the scenes a nice ambiance. Hearing Dean's song over John's dialogue made me feel a type of way but I'll let it slide. The lightning is very bright and Campy but that's just how most everything is shot now. And it wasn't terrible. Literally my only complaint from a production stand point is some things about Mary's costume (she looked more like Claire Novak's twin sister that Mary Winchester. We need the Farrah Faucet hair) and the damn loup-garou. It looked like and ROUS from the Princess Bride. There is no known lore on it other than how to kill it. I get that it's a pilot and budget sacrifices have to be made somewhere but it was just...ugh. literally my only real complaint. I could deal with every minor detail that didn't fit my expectations because this is the pilot and really, who am I to be picky, this show wasn't made SPECIFICALLY for me and me alone, but that damn loup-garou was not it. Overall production, not just "for a pilot", but as a whole, was stunning when you consider that Jensen and Danneel have NEVER done this before. Bravo.

ACTING

I've already seen people commenting about the acting in the tags and some of it hasn't been terribly kind. I saw someone liken it to disney acting. Which, IDK couldn't have anything to do with the fact that Meg was a Disney channel actor, could it? Give them a break guys. They did a good job. Acting isn't easy and I, spending the majority of my childhood and teen years being a stage actor, saw no glaring issues. I was very impressed with the acting for a pilot. Let's face facts here guys its not like the SPN actors were ALWAYS on the ball either. Jensen was a soap opera star ffs! This is their first episode together. You gotta give them a chance to get to know each other. Damn, it's not like they stared into the camera or broke character or gave middle school play vibes. I'd be more concerned about their acting skills if they had been doing this for umpteen seasons and were internationally known super stars, but they did better than A LOT of CW actors on tv today. They did good. I'd like to see some of you go out there and do better. It's a pilot not a finale.

Final thoughts

Overall, I really enjoyed it, and not just for it being part of the SPNverse. I honestly think i I would probably watch it as a stand alone for it's subject matter and genre. I think Jensen and Danneel did a wonderful job. I'm looking forward to putting my bias against John aside and actually learning more about the Winchesters' past. Definite 7.8/ 10 for a stand alone pilot (-0.2 for the pacing and - 2 for the damn loup-garou) and a solid 8/10 for something from the SPNverse.

Will we learn more about the The Akrida and their plan to destroy existence as we know it?

Will we get more backstory on our new characters?

Will anyone ever explain why the random patron told John to say hi to his old man for him when Henry had been missing for years?!?!?!?

So, once again- I have ZERO basis for any of my 911 LS speculation other than those stills and some bts content and an intense desire for a Carlos Begins, but I have ideas after seeing the girl who plays Iris posting about being back on set. Like, it fully opened the door to new possibilities to me. 

I think the “surprise”/”trip” that Rafa is talking about that Carlos receives/does is related to Michelle/Iris. I do not put it past Tim to kill one of them off because that seems to be the fuel for their “begins” episodes. BUT, I do think one of them goes missing again/and or is dead now. I wasn’t a big fan of their friendship- mainly because it didn’t service Carlos as a character, but they are a part of his backstory, so here we are. Not my fav way to get to a Carlos begins, but there is history there, even if it was like the worst part of season 1 LOL

Also, if they kill off Michelle, it brings drama to Tommy and Nancy too bc they were friends with her too. 

That being stated, I don’t like them killing people off for shock factor, especially women- but it’s also Tim soooo. 

I think Carlos finds out in the premiere, which is why we have that pic of an upset Carlos at the station and I’m 75% he brushes it off and is like “IM FINE,” just like he was in 3X11 bc that’s Carlos bby please let yourself feel things. And thats why we have concerned looking TK at the loft. Then my theory goes on to where Carlos ends up digging into the death/missing, bringing more detective vibes to him- which culminates to a Carlos begins ep, complete with backstory and everything- which I think fits with Benito talking about how he can’t wait for the episode that Ronen was teasing.

Also, them filming at the cliff area gave me vibes of season 1- which I know is probably just a regular call but could also be related. 

And/or whump!Carlos because they seems to happen in begin episodes too and if I’m right about something happening to either Michelle or Iris, then he’d be in danger looking into it. and will let our boys have a wedding that the only hitch is them getting hitched

Anyways, like I said, I don’t really even go here much on tumblr, but I love this show and I love Carlos and I love theorizing, so thank you for letting me word vomit and theorize here :)

Mia, episode one

Okay, so as I have said numerous times and at length I haven’t seen Mia’s season before.  I can’t stand Noora’s season so I’ve never wanted to watch this one.  But I’m giving it a go because apparently it’s better than Noora’s.  I already really really dislike Alex, though.  He’s gross to the last moments of Hanna’s season so this may be an uphill battle getting me to like him.  Plus, this is likely more a live reaction thing since I really have no idea what’s coming (except that it’s based on Noora’s things)  We shall see.  Anyway, let's get to this:

1. The opening bits just reminds me how ridiculous kissing looks like up close and from the outside.  I don’t know what the point here is, but I’m vaguely uncomfortable rn, so if that’s the intention, then well done I guess!  These tongues are really bothering me for some reason.  Kiki really needs to have more self respect.  I mean, I know she gets there, but this is not it, child.  He’s really not great.

2.  Seeing a shot of the girls: wow I missed these people so much!!!! (It’s been a couple of days, self.  Chill out!!)  Again, this is super pretty.  The colours etc of this scene are lovely.  More cool and cold than Hanna’s (I guess because of the time of year????) but lovely anyway.  I do not like this swinging camera though; it’s making me queasy.  I am also seriously side-eyeing the ‘kissing’ thing between Hanna and Mia.  Like, I want to believe the creators were leaning into the gay vibes the two gave off last season, but... eh.  It feels off a bit.  Still.  Mia’s gaze when she says ‘why not?’ when asked if they should all be lesbians is... well, I think a case can be made that Mia is into Hanna at least.

3.  Oh.  Hans my love.  It seems this place is a mess and disgusting, but aww I do love him!! ‘I’m finished in a second’ - lol.  Poor Mia, but she knew he had a visitor and she pushed her way in anyway.  She deserved to cop what she saw.  But she’s right of course.  If they keep doing the gross clean ups for him, he really will never learn.  I love Hans, but ‘tomorrow’ is waaaaaaay too late in a situation like the one they have here.  He really needs to start thinking about other people!!

4.  Aww I do love Mia and Hanna, and I’m glad we still have their friendship here.  But is this sort of awkward not-quite-hug thing normal in Germany?  None of these people look like they want to hug each other and are just doing it out of some sort of obligation.  I get that between Hanna and the boys (there’s some history there after all), but Mia and them?  Still, it’s nice to see these storylines continuing from season one so fluidly.  Like there’s very little awkward ‘so let’s summarise the previous season in stilted dialogue for you’ and yet new viewers should be able to pick up on what’s going on through context and in the ways they have integrated and alluded to it all.

5.  Alex comes on screen and I’m all ‘ugh’ and then sadly he says some stupid stuff.  Mia is super pretty in this scene, though, and I’m a bit baffled about why they chose to film her in such a gorgeous way and then to put Alex in pale colours against a pale background.  He doesn’t stand out at all.  ‘He’s insecure, he just wants his parents’ attention’ - I kind of like that this is coming from Kiki because she sees him with rose-tinted glasses and so it can be seen as biased and excusing him for no reason.  But since I assume this is heading in the direction that Noora’s did, where William didn’t ever have to change but we were expected to excuse him because we found out bits about his background, I’m also assuming that this is going to be a case of ‘Kiki, while being obsessive and too naïve about him in some ways, was right all along about him’ but I guess we’ll see.  Also, he’s basically with Kiki and yet he’s still looking at Mia like that?  He’s clearly not changed at all since last season.  

6.  I just realised we haven’t had any moments with Mia alone yet and we’re already more than halfway through the episode.  I don’t know where I’m going with that but it’s just interesting.  Hanna was so in her head and by herself so often, and it was really nice to be so tight in with her.  It’s a bit odd to not have that anymore.  I know that the two characters are different but I miss that getting-to-know-you stuff of the main character.

7.  The stuff with Kiki is really good, though.  I like the way her issues are being highlighted but in a way where it’s clear that her thought processes aren’t immediately obvious as toxic.  It’s really good that what she says and does is logical and can be seen as ‘healthy’ and so dismantling that thought process is really important to teach.  Now, I only saw Noora’s season once so I don’t know how much is coming from the original but even if this is coming through from there, I like the way it’s going.

8.  Alex again.  I do not like him.  His attitude to girls is so shitty.  I mean I know this is William’s fault but I still really really do not enjoy this type of guy.  Again he’s shot in faded out and pale colours vs her darker and stronger ones.  I don’t know what the point is, but I assume there is one.  Maybe that she doesn’t really know him and so she’s only seeing a pale and washed out version of him.

9.  Hanna, darling, I’m with you.  I too hate volleyball and when I was at school our PE teachers were obsessed with it and we had to play it FAR too often for my liking.  Also these looks they are giving each other are super gay.  I don’t make the rules!

10.  This Christmas scene is so super cute!!  The colours etc are glorious.  Hans’s little festoon of lights is adorable.  This little hug with Carlos and Kiki; it’s nice to know where that’s going.  She definitely deserves someone like him (someone who is a bit messy and has some faults but who grows and is under it all a loving friend, and above all is someone who genuinely cares about her).  I know 50 billion people have pointed it out, but I love that Matteo is off to the side and away from the group and that although he’s sort of joining in, he’s not a full part of it.  It’s nice the little hints of how his season is going to go.

11.  Boo Alex.  Blackmail isn’t cool.  It wasn’t cool in Hanna’s season and it’s not cool now.  

And we’re at the end.  We still have very little time just with Mia, just this little moment right at the very very end.  I miss that tight PoV and I hope we see more of it soon.  I still really really dislike this type of love interest and this type of romance.  Alex may not be as bad as William (mostly because he’s better acted) but he’s still a few million miles away from any guy I’d want anything to do with romantically.  Let’s see if that changes as we go on.

Carrie redemption and Carrie having some sort of connection to Alex. The Luke and Julie pass through was addressed sort of, the Reggie Ray Carlos was addressed sort of, I just want to see Alex and Carrie be friends and slay performances together.

Ray getting introduced to the guys on accident but ends up adopting them all.

Big brother moments shared between Reggie (and the other guys but mainly Reggie) and Carlos.

Flynn being her usual badass self.

Official releases oof the songs that the cast wrote during their summer week-long band camp.

Owen and Jeremy singing more.

omg you’re watching desperate housewives! i loved that show! my faves were gabby and bree (although i agree gabby/john was creepy AF). there were definitely thing that i would criticize about the show, but there were honestly so many things that were great about and i do feel like it’s underrated. and i love the way it writes women and female relationships, and i love that it lets it’s female characters be fucked up and flawed and human it’s so great.

Yes to all of this! The show it's addictive and I'm more into it than I'd thought I'd be (so much murder <3). I know how the show treats reproductive issues is going to piss me off (I already want to murder Carlos with my own hands), but for now it's entertaining me so much I can power through it lol.

Also, man. I really miss 22+ episodes long seasons and this show really makes that hit home (just like SPN lmfao). It's cemented my will of rewatching old fave shows that I never saw in their entirety, like I want to do with Xena or DS9, among others. There's just nothing quite like it, and I'm really starting to resent how short new seasons of tv are. There's just so little SPACE for the characters to breath, for me to fully immerse mysself in their lives like I'm doing with DH now.

And I wholeheartedly agree with you about how it writes women. They're real and messy and different and them and their relationships actually DRIVE the show! No guy actually feels like a risk to that, and I love that.

i will say though that i couldn’t stand susan, mike, or mike susan. also susan gave me low key elena vibes over the course of the show. like idk if she’s a full blown elena but she def has elena traits.

Oh, agreed. I was fine-ish with Susan (not liking her much but not disliking her yet), but in the last few episodes I watched she really annoyed me. First with that subplot where she wants Edie to give her "permission" to go on a date with a guy SHE'S NOT EVEN INTERESTED IN, just because he paid attention (and, lbr, because she enjoyed pulling it away from Edie and the idea of her bending to Susan. Luckily Edie was not having and even the guy was fed off with Susan by the end of it lol). Then, with how she went "getting pregnant (because your husband messed with your birth control) is a blessing in disguise!!!" with Gaby. What a fucking horrible friend ugh.

She has some Elena-esque qualities, although Elena was a much smoother operator XDD. Besides, neither she not Mike (who I don't dislike per se, he's just... Dull lol) have it in then to carry the show, which leaves a lot of room for the other women to have their own narrative space, thankfully :DDD

Your list for what Tarlos want for their wedding is nice!

I really like that they want something simple and somewhat traditional, it feels like them and it follows the trend of the proposal. The only thing that differs substantially from what I originally thought is their taste in tuxes 😂 I mean, seeing how good Ronen looks in purple suits gave me ideas, and I thought maybe deep green for Carlos (for TK's eyes) though I'm not sure about him. But having seen them in those suits in the episode I can't complain with their choice.

I wonder what their wedding will look like for real at the end. I wish it won't be disrupted in a way that they can't get married how they want to be and have to have a makeshift ceremony at the firehouse or something. Like for whatever emergency that has to happen to happens before it, to make us wonder if they can make it, but then they do make it. I don't know though, they'd need to introduce so many people as family/friends that I fear we'll get firehouse wedding. Though I'm confident the vows will be so wonderful and everyone's expressions so joyful that in the end I won't even care.

I have been a firehouse wedding believer for a while now. I think I would prefer it to this 8 week venue.

I would love to have a chat with whoever did the wedding planning "research". The order is mind blowing to me, in 4x08 they already have their tuxes, floral arrangements (at least Owen’s version & they at the minimum had an idea of what they wanted with roses & lilacs), but aren't bothered with finding an officiant until 4x12??

I am just so curious on their wedding sources because this is super strange to me, no wonder TK is so full of stress.

I wasn't so surprised that they were going classic/traditional with their tuxes - a lot of people do go traditional for their wedding, sometimes to make family happy, sometimes because it's easier (& can be cheaper in that everything isn't special order), or that was just what they pictured, when they left themselves pictures it.

I could see TK in something more modern before I could Carlos. I think if they put TK in black with white under and Carlos in white with black under, it would give a more modern, but traditional vibe, a little bit of drama instead of a ton. I also won't be surprised if they end up getting married in their dress uniforms, especially it it ends up being at the firehouse.

They keep introducing characters to the back story, almost like they think we will forget about them when we get to important events that those "back story" characters should be at. Like how Carlos' sisters and Enzo & Jonah should be at the wedding - an easy way around that is a quick wedding with no time for out-of-towners to be able to attend. Or TV magic.

I am curious about the officiant, I honestly don’t think they end up going with a religious wedding ceremony though. It is nice that it looks like they at least entertain the idea though. These too many weeks are going to take forever.

1. Why did you choose your url?

I love a good oxymoron. Lol. So that’s part of it. 

I went to this work conference thing last February (pre-Covid 😳) where one of the sessions talked about mindset, different types and which are healthier.  

The presenter discussed the ways that blind optimism can be problematic (facts). Then, they talked about pragmatic optimism. They explained how pragmatic optimism allows us to understand the reality of the problems we face while also retaining confidence in our ability to successfully confront them. I really liked it. It gave me language for something I was already practicing in my own life. So I changed my url and here we are.

2. Any side blogs?

No, just my one little blog! Though I have thought about starting a fic rec side blog, a library of sorts. I read so much fic and I recently started to categorize it for myself in my bookmarks to make it easier to find my favorites. So I thought I could use my Monica Geller powers for the good of the fandom, but it hasn’t gone beyond an idea because what is time? 😆

3. How long have you been on tumblr?

7 years, which is nutty! I took a break here and there, but glad to be back and in the 911 LS fandom.

I’m a procrastinator. Lol. At the time, I was in grad school and looking for new distractions.

6. Why did you choose your icon/pfp?

It’s Betty Suarez! Ugly Betty is my favorite show of all time and Betty is the fictional character whose personality best represents me. When we talk about the importance of feeling seen in TV/Media, Betty is the first time I fully felt seen on screen. Several of her storylines resonated with me and my life. She’s my fav, as is America Ferrera who I have loved since her debut on Disney Channel’s Gotta Kick It Up. (My 90s kid is showing again lol). 

I do want to note that recently I have been strongly considering a Carlos Reyes icon…

8. What’s your post with the most notes?

I can’t just pick one because there are categories 😆. They are all text posts from when I live blog shows, which is funny because normally I don’t think my posts are that interesting. So when a note blows up, it surprises me.  

The post with the most notes ever is this one from May when I decided to watch an episode of Grey’s because April was coming back (I ❤️ Japril) and I was hoping the writers would re-open the endgame door. Apparently others agreed with me and we were rewarded (🙌🏾).

The post with the most notes from my 911 Lone Star shouting is this one from the s2 finale and I love that it’s a post about Nancy. So many of us resonated with her in this moment! #foreveramood

And two of my personal favorites are this one about Sierra and this one about Rafael. Grace and Carlos are my absolute favorite characters on this show, in large part because Sierra and Rafael are incredibly talented and wonderful people.

If it’s for signal boosting important info and world events, 100%. Reblogging to support content creators/writers is also important and something I try to do often. The superstitious ones have an email chain vibe and I don’t really engage with them. Though I am a little “stitious” and there is always that brief moment of hesitation where I go “should I?”

'9-1-1 lone star' a series that deals with diversty, mental health issues and also 9-1-1 calls. Here is my review.

So there are two reason why i wanted to explore this series. First its a spin off the original 9-1-1 so like duh had to. Second because or Rob lowe aka Owen Strand the current captain of the 126 Austin Texas. I have seen Rob lowe in Speedy Singhs (i dont know how many of you have watched this) but i loved him so much in that movie, he was the captain of this hockey team (long story). So when i found out that he is in this series i was like hell yeah i wanna see him again and like always he excelled in his role as a captain. A different captain i would say that actually showed what real masculinity is, i was in awe when i found out that he is a fasionista and a broad-minded guy and also straight. I have never seen a man talk so comfortably and proudly about his hair and skin products and i loved it. Like i said a different take is this series

So this series begans with Owen Strands gets transferred with his son Tyler Strand to Texas Austin to start a fire station from scratch after it was abandoned when its whole crew died in a tragic fire accident except Judson Ryder. Now Owen, with him being brought up in New York the cheif wanted some diversty setup in that county so they asked him for transfer and that is where the story begans

I salute and applaud when i saw that Owen hired a trans, a muslim woman, a dyslexic, and his own son who is an addict and homosexual in his team and showed all of them proudly and let me tell you all of them were rejects before in their previous station because of there status and appreances. So i kinda loved that. Owen Strand stood up and shoved a middle finger to the bigotry so👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 *hands down*.

TK! TK! TK! that poor child is like Buck from S3, when the writer decided to put him in a blender. TK got that taste in S1. He has gone through so much in this first season and i still think he needs to talk more since there is alot of things that is still on his chest. Owen and his bond makes me go 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 fuck these two are killing me. I am sucker for that. Poor baby i feel yah and I wanna see him more progress in S2.

At the same time Carlos honey i want your storyline, your footing, your steps in a situation, you were more of a side character rather then the main and please make some friends that reciprocate your feelings. I feel like you were either drag along or being used so many times because you are cop. Carlos please have a story line in S2 i need to see it. There is more in this latina boy than just being cute. Also a little advice take lesson from Athena in how to be a badass okay!.

ASMR lady Michelle Blake whenever you speak i go😴😴😴😴😴 because your voice is soo soft and smooth like silk. You gave me major vibes of Bedelia from Hannibal. Can you i dont know read an audio book for me it will be an amazing bedtime story for me. Michelle is the captain of the EMS team and her storyline revolves around her sister who suddenly disappeared 3 years ago and Michelle is still finding her. To be honest, her storyline was stretched way too much to complete till 10 episodes and then it was wrapped up so fast like wtf i waited 10 episodes for this!!! was my initial reaction.

So even in this series there is a ship and a pretty hyped one 'Tarlos between TK and Carlos so yaaaahh but sadly like BUDDIE was legit everything onscreen the same could not be said about Tarlos even though this is a canon ship. It didn't hit me that way, maybe because alot was happening offscreen and like OMG they haven't even you know what they are for each other. I mean mostly TK because Carlos is literally on the stage to marry him right at the stop but TK due to his own personal problem is dragging him along which really Carlos doesn't deserve but that poor boy is still with him. I mean talk about love. He didnt left TK at all i would say dedication but still Carlos honey get more scene so even i could see what you actually think about that and hey! Tarlos we don't need things happening offscreen. If you wanna talk, kiss or even just a dinner fucking do it onscreen.

Judd Ryder started as an asshole but than is gaining points more than anybody else, huge respect to him and Grace Ryder sweety you are literally a queen. I mean seriously wife goals.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa writers fuck you, i mean how could you, like you literally had the audacity to end the series with 'A Night We Met' why?!? Why?!? would you hurt us like this. 13RW fandom will understand my pain and agrees with me. The whole season aside and that feels of the last scene aside. 🤧.

Another wild card- if you could write up a backstory for the characters of lone star, what would they be? I’m talking for Grace, Carlos, Judd, Mateo, Marjan, Paul because we know bits and pieces of their lives but really not much at all. Judd’s has kind of been teased from the crossover episode so that I guess is kind of canon. I feel like Carlos was a quiet kid and teen who got okay grades and was nice to everyone. Wasn’t an outcast but wasn’t the popular guy. Then he came out he felt more confident but also acted in a way to protect himself from getting hurt- hooked up and focused on his job as a cop- (remember the line ‘it doesn’t always get weird, Michelle’- and Michelle gave him a look like she didn’t believe him. I feel like that needs to be explored. Is his relationship with TK his first real relationship? I would say yes but I just wanna know more about him) - anyway Marjan would be interesting too because she seems so confident and said she hates bad leadership and stuff like that from the moment we saw her- aside from wanting to help people, I would love to see a backstory that explores the real reason why she loves to be so daring- is it like Buck’s case where she just wants to get her parents attention and acts like that to act on a tragic backstory she never knew about from childhood? Or is she just naturally daring and loves to help people? She doesn’t give off the vibe of having a sad backstory like Buck and Maddie do, but I could be wrong. I’m curious either way

Ohhhh your thoughts are quite interesting. I definitely can see a lot of what you’re saying because it would show an interesting evolution to who the characters are today. There are some headcanons I have but they’re not necessarily right lol just based on the impressions I get.

Carlos: I think Carlos was always the kid who wanted to be perfect for his parents. He kept things to himself to spare his parents, and he always got good grades and stayed out of trouble. He was probably close to his parents, very loyal and obedient, but as he started to realize his sexuality, he started to pull away. I don’t think he acted out, but I do think that he had a lot of internal tumult. He probably tends to want to avoid conflict when he can and puts pressure on himself to everything right.

Grace: From what we’ve seen, I think Grace probably idealized her father and was a daddy’s girl. I think her dad doted on her, and her mom was probably always someone that Grace could confide in. I think there were underlying issues but for the most part, she had a happy and secure childhood. I think her parents raised her to be responsible for her actions, and they also were there to guide her but they gave her space to work through her mistakes herself.

Marjan: I feel like Marjan maybe had some kind of limitations and people (not her family) told her that she couldn’t do certain things because of various reasons based on who she was at her core. So, she learned to prove them wrong and to listen to her gut rather than letting other people try to tell her what she should think or how she should act. I think she doesn’t mind authority when that authority does what is right, but she isn’t going to blindly listen to authority. She learned that her moral compass is her best authority, and she uses her religion to help focus herself and understand her greater purpose. I can see that people in her past made her doubt herself, but she learned to challenge those doubts, which made her more confident in herself.

Mateo: I think Mateo always felt stupid as a child and back then he didn’t know about his dyslexia, so he just thought he was too dumb at school. I think people probably mocked him a lot behind his back and he was probably the butt of a lot of jokes. Despite his dyslexia, Mateo always went above and beyond to do good work. He had to work harder to show people how good he was. I think he found solace in comic book characters. A lot of them started off with hardships, but then, they were able to overcome those hardships and save the world, and I think Mateo found that comforting. He also liked the idea of a world where there was a clear distinction between good and evil and in the end, good always won. I also think he had some religious conflict thrown in there somewhere. He believes in God, but there may also be fear and apprehension and doubt in the mix.

Judd: I have this theory that Judd had a third brother who something happened to, and at some point, Judd started acting out, which led to him going to the wilderness camp for troubled kids. His parents had a lot of issues too, which contributed to the angst that Judd felt, so he understands a complex family dynamic all too well, which is part of the reason that it was so hard for him to tell Grace about her dad.

Paul: We shall find more about this one tonight, but his mom seems lovely and supportive, while I very much may need to have some words with his sister. I also have a headcanon that Paul’s observation skilled are influenced by both his high intelligence and his need to be observant. To keep himself safe, he had to learn how to notice things and stay vigilant, so I think he is always good at noticing things, but I also think he can relax his skills a bit when he is in safe places.
