The 3 spirits haunting me this winter:
Oh wow, mood low, didn’t see you there. Please stay, make yourself at home and constantly remind me of what awful trash I am.
Ah hi, sad vocaloid song obsession, I haven’t seen you since 2016. Come, join my mood low on the couch.
And of course, my crippling feeling of loneliness while being surrounded by loving people, you complete this clown assembly perfectly, thanks for showing up too.
#the old old urge to obsess over vocaloid with someone#but I cannot make others understand#I have long given up talking about it#kind of sucks to be unable to share deep interests with anyone#hello future gf please have a 3 am chat with me about how good sadistic music factory is#that will never happen hahahaha#cries in I want a gf#with the same weird interests#at least my ed is staying out of my life this winter#also deep interest is not limited to vocaloid#I tend to like things too intensely and get absolutely obsessed fast#which is why I think I am not a fun person to be around#which never used to bother me much#but suddenly…I like need people to like the things I like?#I feel like others just tolerating them only makes me feel worse#it feels just like another way of being rejected…just with a soft hug attached#and I know this mind set will change at some point I hope so#I am too not interested in stuff my friends are interested in#it’s normal#but I just want one friend who likes vocaloid the way I do#or any of my interests#ahahaha#it’s just hormones ahahaha

I think taking the kids to a park or something could make Kalpas a little better. Violent-playing with them may make him laugh. There's no cure for whatever Aponia, Vill-V, Elysia, Kevin and Fu Hua have going on. Su is on very thin ice and needs to chill. Pardofelis is kind of there. Mobius can stay I guess. Sakura is so bland she too can stay but for literally the opposite reason. Eden is on the same page as Kalpas imo
I can't believe Kalpas is literally the most normal and bearable person among the Flame Chasers
#I find Su very very... plain and wise-wannabe but in a way in which he just says very superficial stuff? 15yo thinking he's wise#But I think it's the writing. The writing overall feels very 15yo thinking they're writing something super deep#Mobius is written I believe to be beyond human limitations and thus she actually makes sense. Until the end. Hated the To the other me thin#I think she and Su are very similar in concept but the way Su is written feels so pedantic (bad) and fake deep he annoys me#Sakura is extremely bland and that's all there's to her I believe. I can't believe they failed to make her interesting#with how good the thing with Rin and her becoming a traitor for that is#How do you manage to make someone so boring when playing with the setsuna concept?#Kind of the same with Fu Hua but Fu Hua gets on my nerves. Elysia too. Could have been a good character even keeping how annoying she is#but there's no brushing off the exist that stains everything in her personality. I think I know where this is going with the Herrshers#and I also don't like the choice#On the other hand Kalpas has a concept I don't like at all but ironically I find him more interesting in how he's written#than many of the others (perhaps because I expected nothing) and definitely more bearable#That I find him so similar to Eden sure helps. It enhanced my appreciation for both characters#Same with Su but tbh in this case Mobius entirely saves Su for me#If she weren't here or if they didn't parallel each other the very thin ice under Su's feet would break#I think overall the writing of this game isn't good but this bunch of people is unbearable#Maybe it's because you experience them all together but they're even harder to digest than the main characters for me#Anyway... Perhaps the writing gets better with the mangas but I believe even if they expand the writing should be good already in the game#And I don't think that's the case. The main arc is very vocaloid-y. Good concepts but come on three lines and a video clip aren't enough#I don't understand why people feel so heartbroken about Himeko. She was there for fifteen minutes and then died#And also the game forces you to trust or distrust people when they don't really work on why. Why do I have to trust Elysia more than Mobius#Because Elysia is pink and silly while Mobius is disabled green and clever? But there are several such examples. It annoys me so much#Also in Sakura Samsara. Another thing with potential with terrible writing#Ksllen literally 'I know her for a few days but she would never do this!' what do you know?Literally it took rewriting history several time#'But she was mind controlled!' and yet we could persuade her so it wasn't entirely mind control. It's terrible writing#And it is very similar to all the criticism I have about the Firefly writing in Penacony. And even the Penacony arc as a whole#No wonder they're written by the same guy. Kinda gives off edgy 15yo trying to write deep complex things indeed *sigh*#Anyway... I would let Kalpas break Aponia and then monster-play catch with Kosma or something#I talk too much#there's no brushing off the sexism*

Please fucking help.
I am on my iPad messing with YouTube kids.
All I need is that blue rubber kiddie iPad case for my final form as an iPad owner. Except it’s not going to be crusty. Oh and I also have discord on the said iPad. It would be so surreal to see me on discord on an iPad with the blue case on it…. Lol
Now let’s see what gems I find on YouTube kids. I have it set to the third setting (Older).
This post was also brought to you by a person who grew up on regular YouTube.
First: Rhythm Heaven Luxo Lamp. This is an actual thing.
youtube
There’s also the warioware challenges. And some SSB thing.
Time for other stuff. No more rhythm heaven since the content is limited.
Now, time to look up some interests!
Look up UTAU on YouTube kids. Instead of UTAU, you get Friday Night Funkin’.
What a lie. My future kids are getting regular YouTube, supervised, and they can mostly watch Broken Saw or UTAU, maybe some leapfrog videos. When they’re 13 I will let them free tho
Look deep enough and you may find… something, but it’s not UTAU. Putting in “UTAU cover” won’t help either.
Now, put in “vocal synth”. No vocal synths here, just that crappy song called running up that hill.
I’ve now put in vocaloid. It’s just random English covers by some person named Lizz. And one random miku song. Also someone playing a vocaloid guitar.
Hey lizz, your videos made it onto YouTube kids.
Look up miku’s name and it’s FNF. Also “piano tutorials” (actually covers idk??) made using synthesia or whatever that goofy ahh midi app is.
Time to look up teto! And defoko (uta utane)! (Ok now I really want to make an UTAU tutorial for kids LMAO)
First up, Teto. There is a triple baka crazy piano mix!! (Not what I really want… I want these kids seeing utau covers, not pianos lmao)
Also there’s this how to draw teto video which is in another language and it has a video of someone drawing Kasane Teto with wings and there’s the Green Orbs YouTube Audio Library music playing in the background. I can’t copy the link so here’s a screen recording:
Ok enough talk, time for DEFOKO!!
Just a Mario 64 bowser battle and some random German or Dutch video idk the language (is it the same thing??)
Now let’s put in Uta Utane instead.
Nope. Just badminton trick shots, random nursery rhymes, and some random (religious??) videos. Oh and a Minecraft vid. When the word “UTAU” is added to the search term, only the Minecraft video shows up.
Time to look up that Pam board thingamabob.
I found some random Japanese pam8403 video…
I unironically found it very entertaining. What about the pam8610…
Okay so I found a few diy Bluetooth tutorials… but no pam8610.
Time for the final boss.
DUN
DUN
DUNNNNNNNN!
ELLIOT TARGYLE.
Why him? Because almost everyone, even little ones, should hear the godly voice of Elliot, who sounds like a middle aged dad. Thank the gods for Elliot Targyle!
Put his name in, and you’re greeted by soccer/football videos. No godly middle aged dad here… same with Bebo and komppi…
That’s Sunny’s experience with YouTube kids. At like, 12-1am…

Underrated Vocaloid Events: Real Dreams 2015 and that Time Ko Shibasaki and her Vocaloid, Galaco Sung Together
Actually, in a response to this last post I made talking about more obscure vocal synth musical events, I'm in the mood to share that one time where I found clips of a Galaco holographic event and then went full Inspector Gadget Sherlock Holmes complete なネギ誠 for like an hour GHGHGHGHGH—
Disclaimer: Looong deep dive post under the cut! :O
https://youtu.be/cEc6B-r2wr8
It all started with me just looking for Galaco covers out of boredom on Youtube, when I came across this particular video which, up until this point, I hadn't heard a single person mention. Knowing the community's general opinions on Galaco and just how hard her popularity fell once people stopped talking about the whole limited edition aspect and "bland" cadence to her voice, my interest was piqued. This was a Vocaloid not only having a holographic concert (a big rarity for Vocaloids that aren't Crypton) but one of seemignly professional quailty too as it appeared to feature a human singer alongside her.
What also got me raising brows was the fact the video, at the time, was uploaded just last year with the uploader stating they thought "no one else posted this yet". With the old LAT model (which honestly has a super cute and flowy animation in the video as a side note LMAO) and the fact this concert didn't appear to have been posted anywhere else on Youtube despite it being years got me scrambling at this point.
I decided to dig some more. Soon, I found another concert video. I initially assumed to be from the same concert, since I thought something like this would be a one-and-done-thing considering Galaco's reception, at least in the West. But then I noticed something apparent in that the second video had an entirely different model. There was more than one.
youtube
Dude, you may as well could've called me a new FNAF fan because I was boutta go deep with researching what's going on.
I think I started with the second video, as it makes sense starting with the video that actually had a concert title in English one would be a lot easier in narrowing down the search.
Upon Googling the name, I stumbled upon a Japanese blog that appeared to document the event. According to the blog post, [Real Dreams 2015] was a concert both in collaboration and sponsored by the Nihon Kogakuin College, an integrated vocational school in Tokyo's special wards. Students from both the Music and Manga/Animation department worked to create the live performance and song, titled Prologue.
I honestly think this is really well-made! Especially considering the live performance timing; it's impressive what these people were able to do so cohesively together on something many argue is probably incredibly difficult and stressful even for people who clearly have done it for years now. The song and animation is just really nice, too. It just has this super chill, melancholic vibe. ;v; Honestly, it's a bop.
With one answer to the question solved, I returned to the first video that started the whole search. I decided to evoke some advanced detective skills by mollywhoppin the song name from the video, "トリノアイウタ(galaco ver )" straight into Google like I just gave it the most reality TV bitch-slap of the century before Sonic speed-dashing over to VocaDB to run it through there. I eventually came across a page which lists this song as the first track of an album, galaco SUPER BEST (2013). In the comments, someone by the name of STERN mentions a live performance, which, in translating some of the Japanese, reveals the name Ko Shibasaki (柴咲コウ). She is Galaco’s voice provider, which gave some confirmation that the woman may have been Shibasaki herself.
My next step was me deciding to Google both their Japanese names together. This led me to another website in Japanese that details the event.
Turns out, the event wasn't for Galaco, but more so to celebrate Shikasaki's 10th anniversary of her musical career and release of her sixth original album, Lyrical*Wonder. I'm assuming Galaco was featured as another landmark to acknowledge for the celebration. Either way, I translated the entire name of the performance into English, which came out as Ko Shibasaki Live Tour 2013 ~neko's live Neko Ko Ongakukai~.
Zoo wee mama!!! That’s a fuckin’ name drop!!! I did one last search with the concert name, and soon, finally, found a bilibili link showing the entire performance! You can watch the show here. For anyone curious, Galaco shows up 36:55 minutes in. :> The whole shows looks great, though!
Honestly though, it's super wholesome to see Galaco acknowledged somewhere, especially by her own voice provider with something as intimate as a 10th anniversary and a duet. ;v; With how many VOCALOIDs we got from the V3 lineup whose voice providers seem to just not mention them anymore (although please correct me if I'm wrong; I know some do but it seems the majority doesn't), this is a heartwarming exception. ;v; Especially since Galaco seems to have shouldered a lot of mixed to downright negative opinions from some people. And while they obviously have all the right to not like her voice for any reason, the fact that she seems to have been so dearly given some attention somewhere is cute, lol. 3v3
And, all Galaco rambling aside, Shibasaki herself is a good singer. She has a unique cadence that can carry both powerful and soft, souful tones while still retaining all those good qualities of her voice. If you want, I'd definitely suggesting checking into some of her songs. :0c
Man. My search was over. Holy shit. We did it boys. Smooth brain is no more. I have slaughtered Jimmy Neutron, Megamind, and Eggman with my sheer IQ alone.
I know this is the most niche thing and took me like 500 paragraphs to explain it, but I just love talking about these sorts of things, lmao. If anyone wants to see me talk about more things like that, I'll definitely keep that in the back of my noggin so I don't like, get embarrassed and back out by some chance in the future, lol.
Thank you so so so much for reading this huge explanation post! I really appreciate your time to read all this!!! \3v3/ It means a lot, haha.

Surpri-- Oh...
So, a few weeks ago, I shared a Vocaloid drawing entitled “Life is Good,” which showed four different Vocaloid characters enjoying the good things in life. That phrase, “life is good,” while true, is a bit of an incomplete description of life, as I’m sure you know if you’ve lived it long enough. For that reason, I decided to do something I don’t usually do, especially with characters I like -- draw them experiencing some of life’s more difficult parts.
In the top-left corner, Hatsune Miku is dealing with a sudden burst of anxiety:
In the top-right corner, Megurine Luka is sobbing under a deluge of depression:
In the bottom-left corner, Kagamine Len is showing frustration with himself as he deals with shame:
And in the bottom-right corner, Kagamine Rin is grappling with one of the most insidious (and destructive) emotions ever to be grappled with -- anger:
What inspired me to draw these depictions of some of the ugliest parts of the human experience, you ask? The human experience itself. While I don’t like to dwell on negative emotions (or think it’s even a good idea), I find it very helpful to acknowledge and study them in order to have better control over them. One of the best ways to do so, I’ve found, is to describe them in as much detail as possible. As someone who is no stranger to all four of these emotions, I decided to describe them in a visual way, using these members of the Vocaloid family to illustrate them. Not surprisingly, I found it to be somewhat cathartic.
I did have some context in mind for the Vocaloids, however. In Miku’s picture, she just made a startling discovery that left her disillusioned; the lightning in the background represents this sudden shock to her system. In Luka’s picture, she recently broke off a loving relationship with someone, which left a deep wound in her heart; the pouring rain symbolizes the sorrowful state of mind she’s in. Appropriately, she’s also wearing pajamas with weeping willows on them.
In Len’s picture, he found himself doing something he knew to be wrong, and is now struggling not to hate himself for it; the spotlight shining on him represents the harsh criticism he faces from his conscience. And finally, in Rin’s picture, she is attempting to push an angry memory out of her mind, only to have it replaying over and over again and burning her up as much as it did when she first experienced it, which is illustrated by the fire in the background. I hope that life hasn’t this unpleasant for you, but if it has, know that you’re not alone.
And also...rejoice that you’ve made it through those unpleasant moments! If there’s anything good about them, it’s that they’re in the past, where they belong. And when the good times arrive (and they will), you’ll have all the more reason to celebrate them.
(Art by Miku_tap_jp)
Besides wanting to project some of my negative emotional experiences onto paper, I also wanted to try drawing characters with some different-colored lighting -- purple for Miku, blue for Luka, and red for Rin. It turned out to be a lot easier than I anticipated, especially since they each only needed a few different shades of the same color. I also wanted to see how well I could convey strong emotions realistically with pencil and colored pencil. As I often do, I looked at my face in the mirror to get some of the details right -- the wrinkles in Miku’s forehead, the pattern of teeth in Luka and Rin’s mouths, and Rin’s hands. For the last one, I took a picture of myself just to make sure her hands looked believable. Here’s what that looked like:
Making the flame background behind Rin, on the other hand, was a bit more of a challenge than I anticipated. It ended up looking only kind of like the picture I used for reference:
Colored pencil has its limits, unfortunately...plus I didn’t think it through all the way. X |
Interestingly enough, this picture was partly inspired by a similar one I once found of the Doki Doki Literature Club characters dealing with their own specific struggles. It’s a little too disturbing to share here, but it reminded me of what made me enjoy that game -- the harsh reality that was injected into its otherwise cartoonish characters. As unpleasant as it was (not to mention being overexaggerated at certain points), it made them that much more relatable. You could say it was a helpful reminder of something I already mentioned: None of us are alone in our struggles.
An interesting thing happened as I was finishing up this drawing -- I’ve been reading a daily devotional called The Upper Room, and the reading that day included these words:
“Life is hard. Loved ones might die despite our faith and prayer. We may get divorced even when we trust. Diseases can be incurable or fatal. We may pray, live faithfully, and trust God, yet still face unthinkable tragedies.
“But even knowing this, we can continue to pray and live for God -- to believe that God is good, right, and lovely, and that God’s ways are peace. Even when things go wrong, God is still by our side in the struggle. And we can find joy in knowing we are never alone.”
This bit of insight seemed to go perfectly with this drawing’s message, so I thought it was worth sharing here.
Another interesting coincidence(?) -- Easter is coming up in just a week from today! I don’t know about you, but I’m about ready to see some light in the darkness, and what better way to celebrate it than to remember the new life given to us by Jesus’ death and resurrection? Whether you’re someone who celebrates it or not, I hope you’re able to handle every trial life throws at you, and that you won’t forget to focus on the good times.
Life’s still good, after all. ; )
#anxiety#depression#vocaloid#hatsune miku#megurine luka#kagamine len#kagamine rin#pencil art#colored pencil art#don't worry i'll let you see len's eyes eventually

Oh hey welcome to the world of donghua! I can definitely be of help here. 🥰
I have a whole list of recommendations here, which has also sort of become a donghua-tracking list (of things I personally find interesting), so there’s summaries, links on where to watch, and images!:
Obviously a good place to start is with movies, and in there, Dahufa is one of my favourites—and the director behind it also recently released The Storm. Similarly, 30,000 Miles from Chang’an was another very recent release that saw some hype even on the western internet, and the studio behind Chang’an has the New Gods and White Snake film series as well. Then of course we can’t forget about Nezha (Nezha zhi motong jiangshi, 2019) and Jiang Ziya…
Deep Sea and I Am What I Am are also Chinese animated films that made a bit of a splash but still get often overlooked.
youtube
CW for blood and gore for Dahufa though!
And I have to say if you like Legend of Luo Xiaohei and All Saints Street, you may be interested in the sister series of the latter, Fei Ren Zai and You Shou Yan! They’re very similar premises, except the former features Chinese gods in the modern day, while the latter features Chinese mythical creatures. You can tell they are sister series since they all have OPs sung by the Chinese Vocaloid (known as a VSinger), Luo Tianyi. ^^
youtube
youtube
Another popular, well-beloved yet still decently underrated-in-the-grand-scheme-of-things series is Scissor Seven, which is actually on Netflix.
But if you want to get more underground, I’d recommend White Cat Legend; God Troubles Me; You Yao; Wo Jia Dashixiong Naozi You Keng; Bai Yao Pu; A Will Eternal; Shaonian Ge Xing; The Young Brewmaster’s Adventure; Tales of Dark River; Blades of the Guardians; No Doubt in Us; Psychic Princess; Cinderella Chef; The Demon Hunter; Throne of Seal; The Land of Miracles; The Island of Siliang; Ling Cage; Fog Hill of Five Elements; any number of danmei donghua (Thousand Autumns, Those Years I Owned a Zoo, Jie Yao…); and so on!
youtube
Now if you want to get really underground, here’s some series I enjoyed that not many people seem to know of in the west!:
Salted Fish: super playful and comedic with a bit of heart to it. The newest season just came out on Bilbili! Also just as a piece of trivia: in modern Chinese slang, “salted fish” means someone who is lazing around, because 咸 (xián, salt) is a homonym of 闲 (xián, laze/leisure). And the main character of this series…is definitely rather lazy/leisurely. 😆
youtube
Cat’s Tea and its AU spin-off, Dog’s Tea: a very cute chibi series that features transmigration and animal/tea-based tribes!
youtube
Rescue Eternal Desert: I admittedly didn’t get to finish this one but I really dig its style; it’s got that dystopian, desert set-up where the main characters are doing their best to survive!
youtube
Aiyou de Mishi: a horror-esque donghua about an escape room… Available on Crunchyroll!
youtube
Watt’s Up, Girl: a cute, fluffy series about a guy whose refrigerator becomes a human girl (yes, really lol).
youtube
Ringing Fate: from the director of Link Click and Tian Guan Ci Fu, we have a more scifi-esque story about an underdog in a fighting arena!
youtube
And okay I hit the 10-video limit on Tumblr mobile—which I might edit later when I’m on desktop since desktop lets you put in way more content, but for now I’ll still leave a few other recs with links below:
Losing Money to Become a Tycoon: a man gets a mysterious System that leads to him trying to lose money to earn money, all thanks to a technical issue. This one’s currently “airing” on Bilibili and has received a pretty warm welcome!
God of Deception: an older donghua and not exactly a perfect one by any means, but I still find it charming. In this world, there are judges for those who do bad, and the protagonist is one such person (specifically for lying), which opens up a whole new world to him.
Face on Lie: a story about looks and obsession; a woman seeks plastic surgery after her boyfriend cheats on her, but her doctor turns her into the spitting image of his comatose wife.
The Dining Room of Link Lee: a feel-good story that addresses deeper issues all through the bonding power of food!
War God System! I’m Counting on You: a transmigration xianxia donghua in the most classical sense!
Legendary Twins: another adaptation of a very classic novel, where twins are separated at birth due to a tragedy. One is raised by a proper xianxia cultivation sect while the other is raised by “evil” yao. This is about what happens when these two long-lost brothers cross paths.
Fox Spirit Matchmaker: honestly a much harder one to recommend despite it being quite popular and also decently “old” at this point, but that’s also why I’m putting it here. This is based on a manhua of the same name and features a heavy, continuous plot about reincarnation and love. Essentially, the Tushan foxes and their magical tree are the go-to place for soul mates to pledge their feelings for one another, allowing you both to meet again in your next lives. What this means, for this series at least, is that yao and humans who often fall into more unexpected, forbidden, and/or even tragic romances with one another go to this tree to make this pledge. As such, the Tushan foxes have to help the lovers’ reincarnations remember one another, and this often means we start in the modern day and get flashbacks to explain any of the lovers’ heartfelt pasts. In this way, Fox Spirit Matchmaker is sort of like Bai Yao Pu, which I mentioned before…as both really tug on your heartstrings (although Fox Spirit Matchmaker is much more comedic). And speaking of heartstrings, the main characters are also a case of this kind of reincarnation and tragedy romance, despite being agents of Tushan that help other couples get back together. This series used to update pretty regularly and since it started early on in the donghua scene, the first few seasons have some rough animation, but there’s still some good stories in there, and the animation improves a lot after like season 3 or 4. There’s 9+ seasons now, although I think production has slowed down a lot recently due to some issues with the studio.
And if you want to go for really really truly underground, any of the shorts/indie series I listed would obviously count, such as False Memory or Alita’s Trial or Daddy Loong or Lostreak Chicken!
And just as a bonus: if you’re into media that leans toward a younger demographic, I’d recommend Great Warrior Wall; Xi Yang Yang Yu Hui Tai Lang (but only really the seasons after the Mighty Little Defenders season); Jing-Ju Cats; Ori-Princess; and so on~ In fact, I have some childhood favourites in there I’d love to recommend, even though obviously it’s less sensible to do so due to the time since they released but also the lack of English subtitles.
Finally, there’s also upcoming donghua that I would say to look forward to, even though they’re not out yet. You’ll probably see a bunch of them in the list I provided that you may find interesting, but since China is much more lenient about production timelines than Japan, there’s never a clear set date for how long a donghua will take, so if there’s any series that catches your eye (such as Guwei Nanting; Liu Yao; Shuofeng: Po Zhenzi; Yashe; To Be Hero X; Jing Wei Qi Shang; Zi Jin Yu Miao Fang; etc), you’ll have to wait patiently. 🥲
can someone give me donghua recommendations plsplsplspkspksplsplspsl i need to watch more donghua. im not picky as long as its good my fav donghua so far are link click and beryl & sapphire which are just… the basic ones lol. i also like legend of xiao hei and all saints street. uhhh i DONT like kings avatar i think the writing is boring af sorry (watched like.. 8eps). i know i could just browse thru bilibili til i find something interesting but bilibili has TOO MUCH STUFF!!!! id much rather get smth recommended. pretty please😢
also what i failed to mention is mxtx works. i do like them & their adaptations but im not looking to (re)watch them. id rather watch something much more underground as long as its good. or hell doesnt even have to be underground just something good but not from the echochamber of the same 3 series that get mentioned (dont get me wrong i fucking love link click as much as i could rewatch it again and again but i think we all know thats literally the most popular donghua outside of like, tgcf or mdzs)

February 8th is the 3rd anniversary of Nijisanji, and to celebrate I want to give you a quip about every single extant member of Nijisanji... since there are over 130, that’s including ID, IN, and KR... but not VirtuaReal, because they are not on Youtube and also.... China... it’s split into three parts. Part 1 covers everything up to the merger that happened on the beginning of 2019.
First Wave
Tsukino Mito - The iinchou. One of the original seiso gone wrong. Mito is something else, a term I used for Haato, but Mito’s degeneracy feels very different. Mito is much more cynical, definitely likes gore like Korone, and definitely one who calculates things. Haato is just beginning to figure out how to play out her degeneracy, to great effect, but Mito knew the future. In that sense, she fits the Student Representative nature.
Remember that Mito is kind of like Sora in Hololive. This comes as the major source tension, for Hololive, it’s the tension of being an idol and being oneself. Here, it’s more like how to best express oneself within the limitation of the medium. It seems similar, but the feeling is quite different, and that’s what makes Nijisanji so different from Hololive.
Higuchi Kaede - I heard she plays the trumpet. Hmm, that’s all you need to know about this person. If you were in band, you know the instrument determines your personality. Trumpet people are outgoing, brash, but ultimately a nice group of people. The girls, in particular, have a cool side to them, even if they present feminine. They are going to be good friends, with no worries of love blossoming. Usually referred to as Deron, which roughly translates to a slobbering napper... and part of JK Gumi with Mito and Rin.
Shizuka Rin - The functional leader of the group. She’s the competent one, pretty good at gaming, pretty good at hosting, good at being both boke and tsukkomi, also good at drawing apparently. Also good at language as well.
Yuki Chihiro - A soft spoken loli who plays a lot of shooters, and is pretty good at them. Also quite pervy at times. So, just your typical salty gamer, who happens to be a magical girl, apparently... so in another word, a brat.
Elu - Full name, Snow White Paradise El Santo Flow Wasurena Pure Princess Livre Love Heidern Dokodoko Yattaze Valkyria Passion Alfr Noel Chakoboshi Eluaria Frosia Made-in Bloom Elu. Shares the illustrator with Hal Shibuya, Toya, Sister Claire and so on. Started out as a talk streamer, known for her wide range of voice, she shifted to playing Minecraft as you usually do. A bit lacking at top, but tries her best.
Shibuya Hajime - Not to be confused with Shibuya Hal, who was affiliated with upd8. One of the more proficient players in Nijisanji, from his start as pro Getting Over It player, to giving tech advice, and eventually establishing himself as a pro PUBG and Apex player. Apparently did some odd tweets that got him under fire, but he’s better now, apparently. Probably why he did so good at the imagination tournament.
Moira - A goddess, you know with ara ara and everything. Apparently seems to have her head above her clouds... which makes sense considering she’s a goddess.
Suzuya Aki - We have a cross-dresser, everyone. According to TVTropes, he’s affably evil, you know the type. Apparently the most normal of the first wave... and as you have might have guessed Toya really likes this kid. It figures.
Second Wave
Morinaka Kazaki - Another loli character, but has an adult form. Formed a duo with Gibara for some goddamn reason... childhood friends with Emma August, and strangely seen as mother-like, although she looks ten half the time. It’s odd.
Mononobe Alice - Not a loli, despite the appearance... and some of her acts. Has a decent grasp in English, which is really pretty cool. Not much other than that.
Suzuka Utako - The shotacon of the group, and just the most perverted person. Usually has a deep voice, but actually has a pretty wide range, and therefore a really good singer. First Nijisanji member to get banned, apparently.
Fumiko Tamaki - Very much Nijisanji’s own Okayu, including the bad live streaming environment, and having a cat of her own, who is just the most bad of kitties... but even more like a cat in how her schedule is what she feels like... apparently got 250 grand by sleeping. Well, sleeping cat is a staple. Also has a tendency to get her jaw taken out... you know those people. As you might garner, very clueless with technology.
Yuhi Riri - She’s from the future... She has a nice boyish voice, but usually is the butt of the joke due to her lore, so no one comments about it. She seems nice.
Ienaga Mugi - Shares the illustrator with Rin, a shut-in who loves video games and her onii-chan, one of the few who actually grows in age. Pretty good musician, likes to flirt with Riri... which is interesting. Had her identity revealed at school... yikes.
Ushimi Ichigo - She’s a strawberry milk sea slug, which is just the coolest thing. Has a father-daughter relationship with Belmond, and good at drawing. Got some cool advice from Matsuri... which actually, uh, isn’t really a good idea, isn’t it?
Kenmochi Toya - Speaking of not being a good idea to be next to lolis... many people point to the double standard about female vtubers being creepy as kind of a quirk, compared to men, who would go straight to jail... and I point to Kenmochi Toya.
He’s a good host, strangely like Matsuri or Marine, apparently the son of Mito, which Mito likes but Toya doesn’t... go figure. Has that v-line chin that is parodied a lot, and likes to rap... which also feels like a Marine thing. Sorry... he’s pretty good on his own.
Fushimi Gaku - Cheerful man who does a morning show and plays horror games. Kind of plays the father figure for the second wave... but also has a dark side, which makes sense considering the children above. Also fit with the horror games above.
Gilzaren III - Rarely streams, but hangs around in the chat a lot, like he’s some kind of an official lurker of Nijisanji. Also speaks with a pretty high tone, which doesn’t quite fit, although this might be a ruse... it’s unsure.
Nijisanji Gamers
Kanae - Kind of have his head in the clouds, which fits the lore of having amnesia. Kind of the leader of the Gamers, and one of the best at gaming. Does long streams and everything, likes PUBG but venturing to Apex and the likes. Good at Minecraft, too. Usually works with Kuzuha, leading to that famous clip... such a good classic.
Overall, a really solid streamer and personality in general. A real gem for the crew.
Akabane Youko - Rarely streams, but she is good at gaming. Has a wild laugh and so people still like her... huh, in some sense she’s the female Gilzaren.
Himawari Honma - Gamers 2nd Generation is an absolute goldmine. There were three, one of them retired, but you still know her (wink wink), and all three are just fantastic. Probably the best is Hima... one of those empty-head people that is really good at gaming... you know, Aqua, but somehow better, least to me.
Like Aqua, she's a pretty good singer and she likes vocaloids. But Hima-chan is like a sunflower while Aqua is an... onion. I mean onion could be sweet, but it always gives off a bad taste at the end, while a sunflower is a pure delight. Just look at her, her emptiness is a light, while Aqua’s emptiness is dark. (You can tell my bias here.)
I never like the dumb sterotypes, but Hima is so warm and comforting in her emptiness that you cannot help but smile at the airhead. She’s just such a good vtuber.
Sasaki Saku - She’s the hot-headed of the three, well two. She picks fights with everyone, including people like Belmond or Yashiro, and they fight back because she’s just an entertaining fighter. She’s entertaining, period.
Kuzuha - Probably one of more well-known male Nijisanji members. Went on the Suisei route, as in, he was independent before joining Nijisanji. Plays FPS with Kanae as mentioned before. Pretty good player, but better at banter. Kind of a mischievous person who is actually quite shy... a little of Pekora in the person, except Kuzuha is more annoying than truly like a villain that is Pekora.
One of the people who says cannot sing, but can actually sing very well. Just overall, a great talent to have and just fun to watch, especially in collabs.
Shiina Yuika - Likes Nintendo, and also does a radio show on YouTube. Actually did a radio show as well once. One of the brutally honest people, and a trouble-maker.
As you kind of expect, Sasaki Saku was the one who really got her into the groove, and during her what-turned out to be an absence, Shiina did feel a bit down. Likes to sleep, which makes sense in the context. Not the best at gaming, but still a fun player.
Aqua really likes her, which is interesting since she shares the illustrator with Okayu, and therefore the two are close friends... and they would go after the poor onion.
Makaino Ririmu - Supposedly a succubus. Definitely headstrong and kind of a loli, so there’s a pretty wide fanbase for her... but she’s honestly a good-hearted person. Just look at her collabs with Kou or Lize... she did calculus for a stream?
SEED 1st Gen
Ryushen - Real name, Sengawa Midori. Singer of uncertain gender, so I’ll use they’. Known to be the planner, and a good one at that. Friends with Sister Claire, and their junior, Kakeru and Hayato. Is part of the group, ‘Rain Drops’ with five other members. Originally stated to be part of VOIZ, a male pop group, but as stated... ‘they’.
As for personality, they are a cool kid, friendly with others. Not a bad person to watch.
Hanabatake Chaika - Muscular Okama Elf who wears a maid dress. Very cool personality, a rough and tumble kind of person. As with the description earlier, the concept is odd, but the person is odd in a more palatable way. Honestly, one of people I would try to seek to watch in Nijisanji. Apparently the cross-dressing thing was enforced, rather than a personal choice. Got turned into a robot once.
As for an example, his 3D debut was actually months after he has gotten them and actually used them in collabs and TV interviews, so Chaika skipped right to the shenanigans instead. Perhaps this spontaneity is what makes Nijisanji 3D better.
Yashiro Kizuku - Concept is a systems engineer, likes rhythm and retro games. Friendly with a lot of people, especially with Sasaki Saku, which they host a gaming show. It’s really fun! They are a good bickering couple. The show is kind of a good gateway for Nijisanji as a whole, I believe. Oh, right the intellectual test with Hima...
Yeah, the blandest concept, but one of the most likable members in Nijisanji.
Dola - She’s a fire dragon. Act as an elder to the SEED group, kind of an admin at the minecraft server, so she’s treated like a god here. Good singer, great dancer.
She’s in a group with Yashiro, Hima, and Kuzuha, where the concept is that they are a family, with Dola and Yashiro being parents, and Hima and Kuzuha being their children, and they are one of the best groups to come out of Nijisanji. You can’t miss them.
Sister Claire - Usually does really short talk streams, which was reformatted to a radio format. One of the last seiso people, but strangely gets along with many of the members, mostly because she wants to be funny, and honestly... succeeds for me.
Also a great singer... who would have guessed? Sometimes treated as a cult leader.
Todoroki Kyoko - A 19 year old gyaru. Self proclaimed normie, but obviously not the case anymore. Great at drawing, but only in 2D. As with gyarus, really nice!
Suzuki Masaru - A chunni cross-dresser. Wants to be cool, but obviously cute. Actually doesn’t really like cross-dressing, but it does get the views. Honestly, he looks cool.
Uzuki Kou - A rich teenage boy, well liked by other people. Great singer but doesn’t show often... he does have a rap about hot pot ingredients that is well-covered by others. Friends with Ririmu, I believe. He’s a nice person to watch.
Azuchi Momo - A 14-year old illustrator who did her own design, and one of the most dangerous members of Nijisanji. Yep, known for her curses and drinking cocktails... and yes, she’s supposed to be 14. But even she recognizes that she’s an adult woman...
SEED 2nd Gen
Takamiya Rion - A student at a magic school. Supposed to be a lass, but in reality becomes like that sketch where two beautiful women are dubbed by kids? Yeah, she becomes like that. Just the least intelligent person... good for moron-sexuals, I guess.
Apparently this is more a debuff, as she can act smart and lady-like in late night streams. She was the one who hosted the imagination event. Also really likes SAO, and therefore fell into Genshin pretty hard last year, and who can blame her?
Asuka Hina - Is sometimes called a succubus, kind of works a producer and did a special producing session as a result. Can be calm and outgoing at once.
Maimoto Keisuke - Originally a farmer, but got tired of it. Does gaming and sport commentary, usually wrestling or baseball. Became someone who always gets tortured by his female peers... strange but not a bad character. Oh, this harassment leads to a lot of anger and there’s a tradition where they burn people virtually... and he always gets lumped in as a person to be burned. Friends with Subaru and Ui, and forms the Oozora family, believes to be a middle-aged man, but others don’t treat him like that.
Amemori Sayo - Typical high school student, but we’re sure she’s a ghost. Does a lot of special effects, leading to tech problems. Kind of a quiet speaker.
Kanda Shoichi - typical college student, has a buddy relationship with Gundou Mirei. Good at gaming, singing and hosting, which means he got his due even though it was a little late. Doesn’t really like Korea, though, which is a problem.
Rindou Mikoto - An oni queen, likes girls and booze. Can hold down a liquor, and hold down a girl... a quick learner in everything, therefore excellent at everything.
I knew her as Marine’s coach at Mario Kart... and now I know the reason.
Joe Rikiichi - He’s a joker, a real comedian. Good at improv. Pretty poor. Does late-night radio with Maimoto as well. He’s always a fun person to watch.
Debidebi Debiru - Demon koala who dabble in the occult. He’s the kid in the family, with all the stubbornness and gumption included. Likes to make nicknames, good in collabs. And as with kids, ultimately a good person at heart, which is why he does collabs.
Probably one of my favorites... I’m kind of miffed his section is so short, honestly.
Sakura Ritsuki - A fairy from another world. Basically only plays minecraft as the resident builder in the area. Got a new outfit, and suddenly got a ship going on with Kuzuha, which is good for her, I guess. Yeah, she does what she does.
Machita Chima - A great singer and bit of a psychopath. Went dark to study for exams, but soon returned to herself. Kind of a younger Suisei is what I’m getting at.
Belmond Banderas - The Corpse of Nijisanji. Low voice, and very kind to everyone. But he can be funny too. If he’s drunk, he’s just your average guy who agrees on everything. Also incredibly lucky, apparently, enough to make a religion with Lize as worshipper.
Yumeoi Kakeru - Singer-songwriter who got calling as a host. Really likes Ryushen to a psychopathic degree, but they are good friends as well. Seriously, he’s one of those well-adjusted psychopaths. Apparently he was a biochemist before singing. Sara calls him papa... which, okay, I guess. Did some shady stuff like catfishing in the past...
Overall, he’s that person who came from a rough background, and that means there’s some edges and some of his strength. Definitely an important asset.
Kuroi Shiba - She’s a four year old dog, but acts like an old lady and eventually earned the suffering characteristic and works at a shady company. But what’s the most fascinating thing is her deep lore. Seriously, it might be one of the most interesting lore before Haachama/Haato became a thing.
Yaguruma Rine - A eleven-year old girl who says the first thing on her mind. Also went dark during exam season, but returned after the summer exams. Practices English a bit during her streams, so there’s that going for her. Also her phone disappeared for a bit.
Harusaki Air - Air here meaning ‘spring’ in Greek. Kind of interpreted as a cleaner version of Toya. He’s a prince, so he’s usually busy... unlike a certain princess.
Naruse Naru - Remember has a different look! Although now he can switch it back and forth... apparently it was management issues? Whatever, won the current mario kart tournament (Mikoto was second) and that’s pretty much it, honestly.

What To Play While You wait For The Next Persona Game
Posted this on r/PERSoNA earlier today. Enjoy!
So it's going to be a while for the next Persona game to drop, and while you could spend all your time replaying Persona 5 or its predecessors and their spinoffs, you could try something else as well. Here are a few games that really help me scratch that Persona itch.
Also reblog with your favorite games to get through the Persona hiatuses.
What Do You Like Most About Persona?
"Everything!"
You Should Play: Blue Reflection
Genre: JRPG
Most Accessible Game: Blue Reflection
Platform: PS4, Steam
Price: $59.99 + Costume DLC ($89.99 Season Pass)
Blue Reflection stars a high school girl, Hinako, who used to do ballet, but was forced to quit after a leg injury. She soon finds herself recruited by two sisters, Yuzu and Lime to travel to another world and fight the manifestations of people's out-of-control emotions.
Sound familiar?
While the tone isn't exactly the same, as BR is more down-to-earth than Persona, the story-telling and flow of the game very much matches Persona's. The combat may not be as in-depth as Persona's, but it's still turn-based JRPG combat. The world itself is also gorgeously rendered and lovingly designed. And who knows? You may fall in love with these girls in the very same way you fell in love with the cast of your favorite Persona game.
"The Combat!"
You Should Play: Atelier
Genre: Crafting JPRG
Most Accessible Game: Atelier Rorona DX
Platform: Switch and PS4
Price: $39.99 OR 3 game bundle with the next two games in the Arland Trilogy for $89.99
The Atelier series is very popular in Japan, and has existed for about as long as Persona. Your main character is an Alchemist, a person who can create items from other items. You spend most of your time going out to harvest ingredients and create items for your lovable group of clients, and usually solve a mystery along the way. Ever wanted to be the shopkeeper who shows up at the end of the super-hard dungeon? Now's your chance.
Like Persona, your party member's abilities are limited. Instead, to be effective in combat, you must create weapons and healing items to use in dungeons against your foes. You can be a super buff healer, or you can rain cannon fire down on the arena, it all depends on what you want to create.
Atelier Rorona is about Rorona, a young girl who is suddenly put in charge of her teacher's alchemy shop just as the kingdom was about to shut it down. It's your job to prove that alchemy is still worth something in an era of technology.
Also, some of the characters may sound familiar to fans of Persona 3 and 4...
"The Characters!"
You Should Play: Fire Emblem
Genre: Tactical JRPG
Most Accessible Game: Fire Emblem Awakening
Platform: 3DS
Price: $39.99 + Map DLC ($6 to $6.50 per pack)
Fire Emblem is a series of tactical JRPGs for Nintendo Systems that started in the mid-nineties. Despite their deep combat mechanics and interesting storytelling, their sales declined until 2012, with the release of Fire Emblem Awakening.
Awakening is a story about family, time, and fate. It has its own twists carried on the backs of its lovable and memorable cast of characters. As the Tactician of the Shepherds, you can get to know everyone, from the crown prince Chrom and his spunky sister Lissa, to studious and hyperfocused Miriel, to the sweet-talking thief Gaius, to the strong Panne, last of her kind...I could go on really. Each of the characters stands out in their own way, and like Persona, romance is on the table.
"The Aesthetics!"
You Should Play: Danganronpa
Genre: Murder Mystery Visual Novel
Most Accessible Game: Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc
Platform: Steam
Price: $19.99
Danganronpa is a divisive franchise. You either love it or you hate it. However, one thing can be agreed on: the games themselves look crazy cool.
Each character has a memorable design and quirky personality, and the more you hang out with them, the more you learn what's underneath their surface. It almost makes you forget that you're all supposed to kill each other.
You're trapped in this school/island/town until you kill someone else...and get away with it. After a body is discovered, the whole class is put on trial. If you're found out, you're executed, in a brutally ironic way.
Have fun!
Now I know that not everyone is super on board with complete genre or tone swaps, so if you answer this question, I can help you out even more.
What's Your Favorite Spinoff?
"I Hate The Spinoffs!"
You Should Play: Shin Megami Tensei
Genre: RPG
Most Accessible Game: Shin Megami Tensei IV
Platform: 3DS
Price: $39.99 + DLC ($1.00-$2.99)
Persona games themselves are a spinoff of this franchise, one of the original JRPG franchises and the original "Gotta Catch 'Em All!" game. Nowadays, while Persona is more popular, SMT has quietly been improving its mechanics and storytelling, to weave a tale of a bleak world where human survivors must fight back against demons, with demons of their own.
And at the end of the day, will you bring Order to this lawless world? Or will you let it descend into Chaos? The choice is yours.
"Persona 4 Arena!"
You Should Play: BlazBlue
Genre: Fighting
Most Accessible Game: BlazBlue Crosstag Battle
Platform: Switch, Steam
Price: $59.99 + Character DLC (All-In-One Season Pass is $19.99, additional colors packs are $2.99 each)
Story may not be your thing, but quirky characters and fun designs and weapons may be right up your alley. If so, let me introduce you to BlazBlue by Arc System Works, who helped create Persona 4's Arena games.
The writing is laugh-out-loud funny, and all the characters (mostly) hate each other after years and years of lore and generations of feuds. What better dynamic for a 2D fighting game?
And if you're still not on board with the mainline games, try Crosstag Battle, which features characters from BlazBlue, UnderNight In-Birth, Persona, and RWBY, along with the recently joined Arcana Heart! It's easy to pick up, even for fighting game beginners, and you're sure to find someone you like.
"Persona Q!"
You Should Play: Etrian Odyssey
Genre: Dungeon-crawling JPRG
Most Accessible Game: Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan
Platform: 3DS
Price: $59.99
This is unfortunately the only series on my list I have not played. However, I would be remiss to not mention it at all.
If you loved the dungeon-crawling shenanigans of Persona Q, you'll be happy to find that it was created as a spinoff of Etrian Odyssey, which deploys very similar mechanics combat-wise.
"Persona Dancing!"
You Should Play: Project DIVA
Genre: Rhythm
Most Accessible Game: Project DIVA Future Tone Prelude
Platform: PS4
Price: Free (2 song demo) + DLC (Future Tone Bundle gives 220 songs for $39.99, Future Tone Season Pass gives the rest of DLC for $19.99)
Say what you will about the Persona Dancing games, but nothing feels better than getting a Full Combo on a song you've spent hours on.
Project DIVA looks are your P5D King Crazy's and scoffs. It laughs at your supposed "skill". It wants you to put your skills to the true test in its true series.
Make no mistake, it may be a game about Vocaloid...but its beatmaps get CRAZY hard. However, it's also crazy addictive. With hundreds of songs, outfits, and accessories, everything can be changed and feel brand new. And you'll need that change in monotony, because you'll play songs over and over again just to chase that 100%.
"I just want Persona 5 Scramble already!"
You Should Play: Warriors Spinoffs
Genre: Action Combat
Most Accessible Game: Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition
Platform: Switch
Price: $59.99
So you're waiting for Scramble? You want to rip through Shadows like butter?
Then pick up a Warriors game and get swinging!
I'm recommending the spinoffs over the originals because, if you know how their home games (Hyrule and Fire Emblem) play, you'll be able to grasp how integrated the mechanics of their originals and the mechanics of Warriors fully mesh together. Also, Hyrule Definitive comes with all DLC, so definite bonus points there.

Part 2: Highlights from Orangestar and M.B’s Interview from Mormon.jp
Orangestar is back and so I am with a translation! This section focuses more on their second album and the reasons behind his recent hiatus :) Here’s Part 1 and the original interview.
Session 7: Simply
M.B: We have the opportunity to think a little more about our future works than before. Like the goal of our work.
Orangestar: Yes, like how there’s a lot to make progress on.
M.B: The conclusion we recently reached was, as expected, happy endings with simple things.
Orangestar: Yeah. I’ve always liked simplicity.
M.B: Things that appear simple on the surface have their deep parts. Our church teaches that too… simple is the truth, and I think that’s true because the world is so complicated. Eccentric ideas are increasing, chaotic ideas for validation are also increasing. So, like, the contents of those things are mostly negative, and society now seems like, hm, what is it, kind of hopeless I guess haha… It leaves the impression that this world is the worst.
We agreed to base our goals on simplicity, but I think what we believe in is pretty big. Everyone can feel what is good, and that questionable things are questionable. But those questionable things are already overflowing in society, and I think that everyone has parts of themselves that are gradually growing numb. We want to help those that aren’t sure what is good clearly understand the good things that we know are good.
Orangestar: Also, I guess you could say that the amount of people that can or do listen to simple things will increase.
Orangestar: There’s the song I made recently, “Mawaru Sora Usagi”.
Orangestar: From beginning to end, this song is just a piano accompaniment with singing mixed in and, to me, I think the most simple you can get.
Right now, my grandparents live with us and when I’m making music, it seems like they don’t have a lot of interest in music in the first place. They still support me, but say things like “I don’t really get it”. But with “Mawaru Sora Usagi”, I make videos while playing the music out loud, and my grandma said, “That’s a good song,” for the first time. That made me happy.
M.B: Now that you mention it, the piano is the main instrument on your second album, right.
Orangestar: Yeah. I personally like the piano so I previously wanted to make an album with piano as the main; no matter who it is, the tone quality from a piano sounds “good” to everyone, doesn’t it?
M.B: That’s true, our music has changed quite a bit and covers a wider audience…
Orangestar: Even though there was a lot going on for us and our direction was set, we couldn’t leave our work at that time. But deciding “to go simply”, we released our second album. Right now it’s #15 on Oricon, and #26 on the weekly ranking.
M.B: We talked about it pretty heatedly over Skype about direction we wanted to go, but there was also a pretty large component of us creating works as Christians.
Orangestar: The lyrics express Christian values with words that even the average person can understand. I think that the things my church teaches are probably ingrained in our bodies so I don’t think this was intentional. There were some parts that felt like a translation work.
M.B: Yeah, you’re right, there were.
Orangestar: Even on top of writing lyrics, having that (Christian values) in words that ordinary people can understand, show most strongly in “DAYBREAK FRONTLINE”. Up until now, these were the lyrics I thought the most about while writing them.
Orangestar: This is the song I’ve been wanting to talk about the most. After arriving at “simple is best”, and happy endings, I saw what we wanted to make most clearly. It wasn’t direct, but more like the sun…
M.B: The most striking factor is the character’s clothes. I was actually being pretty careful to not expose too much. I don’t think there’s any doubt that I probably drew unintentionally, simple and Christian-like clothes. I wonder if anyone noticed that, me included.
Orangestar: There was a lot of things that anyone could easily understand as a metaphor, like the lyrics and stuff. Because of this, the song I want people to listen to the most is “DAYBREAK FRONTLINE”. I feel like I made this piece finally reaching something I was aiming for.
Highlights from Session 8: Hiatus
Orangestar: Hiatus. Through my church, I’m going to serve as a missionary for two years.
(TN: Orangestar and M.B are both Christians and members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Young members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints have the opportunity to voluntarily serve as a missionary. The majority of them are ages 20 through 25, and many take a leave of absence from school after high school graduation and before college. Included in this, there are also young members who are separated from their home country and serve overseas.)
I decided I would do that before I started being a Vocaloid producer. So rather than calling it a hiatus, it’s more like I’m temporarily returning to my original plans. Of course, my goal is to meet a lot of people and teach them Christian values.
After that, there is also the goal of temporarily taking a rest from my producer activities. I’m leaving behind a masterpiece that I feel sufficiently satisfied with, it’s a good place to leave off at, and my age is just right after I graduate high school (TN: The minimum age required for young men to serve a mission in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is 18). So by temporarily resting from being a producer, it also means that I can replenish my creative appetite. I also want time to take a step back and think about things carefully, so I guess, yeah, the goal for me taking a break from producing is to take a break from producing haha.
I also think that I’ll be able to talk to talk to people more easily and it’ll be mental training too. My older brother is doing the same thing right now, but it’s kinda like he’s inwardly changed; it really comes through in his emails every week. When I see how much fun it looks like he’s having on the pictures he attaches sometimes, I can’t help but think who the heck is this!? So. Yeah haha.
M.B: I’m excited for after these 2 years. I wonder if you’ll make more polished stuff.
Orangestar: Yeah, on another layer above making works, this is more like a training period instead of a break. So that I can make ever better pieces.
M.B: You’re going to be composing for the rest of your life, after all.
Orangestar: Yeah, I guess that 2 years isn’t much if it’s for that haha.
M.B: Rather, it’s because it’s a special experience. There’s things, like various perspectives, that can’t be gained otherwise.
Orangestar: Also, there’s the English. I’m going to a place in California called Riverside, but while I’m there, whether I like English or not, I’m going to be in an environment where I have to speak it. If it was just studying abroad, I feel like I would forget it soon haha.
Highlights from Session 9: The Origins of their Names, Summer, and the Future.
What does M.B mean?
M.B: It’s taken from a song a certain band sings. It’s an American band called The Killers, and the Vocalist is a Christian (TN: Not only a Christian, but also a member of the same church as Orangestar and M.B lawl). It’s from their major debut song, Mr. Brightside.
I don’t really know if it’s about the vocalists actual experiences, but there’s this couple that was dating, and I don’t know if the girl cheated or got married or something but the guy was really hurting during this. He had a lot of feelings like jealousy and anger, but he decided to look on the bright side. I think it’s a super cool song. Looking on the bright side is something that’s not unrelated to an ordinary life, stands out, or something that makes you a hero, but instead a small thing.
I say that a lot. I think that living in the real world has a lot of small walls, but I think it’s cool to go on living with that strong feeling. Not just with drawing, but I also applied that guideline to my personal life. I thought the song was cool so I took the M from the beginning of Mr. Brightside and the B from Brightside. In short, this me that’s called M.B, in art and as a person, includes the decision that I’m going to live with the kindness in my name. Haha, Orangestar, do you want to be exactly like your name?
Orangestar: Yeah, well, honestly, I always liked the word “imperfect” (TN: pronounced “Mikansei” in Japanese). It was at that time when I was thinking about what I should name the account I was making on Nico Nico, that the play on words (TN: 蜜柑星 literally means “orangestar” when translated into English, but is pronounced the same as “mikansei”, which is imperfect in Japanese) was in my head. I decided to make that my name. Although I didn’t really have the intention to work under that name. In the first place, I didn’t intend to sell it on Nico Nico (video); it felt like an obscure period. So “Orangestar” somehow came from the play on words I had in my head at the time.
M.B: Somehow haha
Orangestar: Well, in the first place at the time, “imperfect” wasn’t any sort of special word, then after I uploaded “Mikansei Time Limiter” and “Amekigoe Zankyou”. They attached meaning to the word “imperfect” and if you look at it with a Christian-like interpretation too, imperfection means that there is still room for growth, for forever right. I talked about it in some magazine interview, and the editor went ahead and attached a cool headline to it, so it’s like an “imperfect” that continues to evolve haha it’s cool haha.
So I was like, well I guess I’ll just go with it. Haha, but, it’s true that throughout life we continue to always grow. Yeah, the moment you think that you’re perfect, you stop improving.
Why do your songs have a strong summer theme?
Orangestar: I was born in summer and love summer. Doesn’t summer have the impression of being the most fun? Maybe it’s just me.
M.B: It does for me too.
Orangestar: It has the most exciting mental image. Seasonally.
M.B: The sun’s happy haha. Summer is the hardest for me physically but for pictures summer definitely has the best motif. Cumulus clouds make me feel really happy and the blue sky spreads out.
Orangestar: How to say it, I guess one distinct characteristic or something of M.B is that the way he draws the sky is, well he draws the sky well. Even on top of drawing skies, there’s just something special about the summer sky.
M.B: It’s exhilarating, isn’t it? Exhilarating and refreshing.
Orangestar: The summer sky is a symbol that’s easy to understand.
M.B: Yeah, even me, I can somehow feel the youth. Is there another reason we’re fixated on it hm… It’s because we like it haha.
Orangestar: Because we like it haha. So in conclusion it’s because I like summer.
From Here on Out
M.B: Animation has an amazing power. The character’s move and speak according to the music.
Orangestar: It’s that expansion of expression, right. Right now is different because for a complete form, we only release a video with a single illustration and music but, well, that’s one simple form and I thought it was a form that’s easy to watch on Nico Nico Video. Of course, for making works, there’s many different ways it can be presented, including animation. I guess, I wouldn’t quite say yet that I want to make animations like the one’s out in the world but I do want to present via animation. Although that’s an extension for now.
There’s movement in “Asu no Yozora”, and I definitely think it’s powerful. I want to make things with that feeling, but with a little more proper animation than before. Before that though, what should I say? I guess, talent, like those people that have the talent, people who have the same intentions as us. Right now we’re only working as the two of us, but that doesn’t mean we’re fixated on it being just us.
M.B: That’s true. If we had specialized people then that’d already enough.
Orangestar: If there are people that can move towards the same goals as us then we welcome it more.
M.B: Are you saying we should make an elite team haha. I wonder what we’d call it.
#orangestar#vocaloid#Okaeriiiiiiiiiii ;w;#translations#we'll see if I decide to translate more of this chonky interview in the future lol

desc .
With a deep care for his friends and family , Saburo is someone who takes his duties and relationships very seriously . Despite the hardened look he puts out , and a violent quirk to match , he is actually surprisingly soft in conversation . He is extremely smart and perceptive , having been the top of his class in grades prior to imprisonment . He is reliable and never goes back on his word . He enjoys working out, playing baseball, and secretly covering vocaloid songs in his freetime/karaoke. He also has a massive hero - crush on Pop Step since middle school .
ZODIAC: Cancer

POWER: 5/5
SPEED: 3/5
TECHNIQUE: 2/5
INTELLIGENCE: 4/5
COOPERATIVENESS: 3/5
QUIRK .
Mantis Shrimp -- yes , it’s exactly how it sounds . Saburo’s quirk is an adapted mutation of his parents , and is essentially the power of a mantis shrimp . A quirk with high modification in powerful close - ranged combat . It’s no one - for - all , naturally .. But it sure holds its own weight . As a result of his baseball extracurricular, He is capable of switching between the two main combat styles that mantis shrimp can employ (Smasher or Spear), but not both at the same time . So i’m not resorted to plagiarising wikipedia , read the Claw section of this article for the more ‘detailed’ explanation of his quirk . When used underwater , his quirk creates sonoluminescence just like mantis shrimps , but it is short lived and reported as a flash at most . His quirk is capable of transfering the kinetic force to objects he uses through the velocity it produces ( for example , swinging a baseball bat with his quirk -- ) draw backs : However , despite it’s strength , Saburo’s quirk has a self destructive factor . Just as scientific laws and the capabilities of the body would have it , his fists are still just flesh and cartilage .. therefore , depending on how intense he uses his quirk as well as the mass of the target/object , Saburo runs the risk of completely breaking his hand, or even shattering his entire arm if the kinetic force pushes back enough . For this reason , correct technique , supremely padded gloves (although this buffers his ability), and intense strengthening training are required to minimize the risk . Because mantis shrimps are an aquatic animal , his quirk thrives safest in an underwater environment -- however , he cannot breathe underwater -- nor use this ability if he is occupied with swimming . Since his quirk relies on wind up capability , if he pushes the tension beyond its stretch point , he can snap his arm . in summary -- he may be able to hole - punch an object , but the kinetic force applied always comes right back , and will definitely break his entire arm if it’s too much .
How Saburo uses his quirk . In order to activate his ability , Saburo winds up or draws back his arm of choice like a baseball pitcher preparing to throw a ball . The tension in his appendages collects , to an intensity of his choosing , and is then released in a “blinding quickness” upon an opponent . In water , this creates cavitation bubbles that strike his target like S waves after the initial P wave (his punch).
Quirk Class : Accumulation
STORY . ( tw : grooming , violence , assault )
The middle son of the Honda family had it’s perks ; you had older siblings to look up to , and younger siblings to look up to you . He was born into a higher - middle class family , and while the pressure was on to perform to your very best at all turns , Saburos family was very loving and functional . They all worked as a pack , and supported one another in their high - achieving endeavors . His mother is a famous boxer while his father is a stats analyst , her cheerleader , and her manager . Considered the most harmonious mashup of his parents quirks , Saburo was often brought to the boxing gym with hope to spark his interest in it . It was the very first place he activated his quirk for the first time at (before being brought there regularly), and ultimately broke his hand . As he got older , he enjoys it as a hobby , but knocking people out wasn’t really a future he was looking into .
In third grade , Saburo discovered his love for baseball by happening upon a group of kids playing the game in a huge lot over summer break . It was mesmerizing ; the first time he had ever loved a sport so much -- and it was a place where his quirk really shined . Their team was exceptional already , but the more familiar he became with them and the game , Saburo quickly grew into their star - player . It was a match made in heaven .
His siblings and parents would even come to watch his games , although saddened he didn’t pick boxing , the adults were still proud he found his own path and supported him irregardless . His younger sister and brother would often practice with him , and he too would help them out with their own sport activities -- swimming and fencing (for his younger brother and sister respectively).
Splitting his time between baseball , school , and family , Saburo had a very busy yet happy childhood . Eventually he earned his spot on the school baseball team , and along with his exceptional grades and family reputation , put him in a rather popular spot at school .. But being focused at the dear age of 12 or 13 , he wasn’t very interested in girls or gifts or social interactions outside of his three life treasures . He was on track to go to the big leagues , preparing to really knock it all out of the park in highschool .
Except those days never came . Saburo was staying up late to complete homework on the family computer when an IM popped up . Shiro , his little sister , was using the computer last , and had already gone to bed .. looking more exhausted than normal . Not planning to wake her , Saburo supposed his little sister forgot to log out of her accounts , and like the decent big brother he was , decided to log her out so their parents or other siblings wouldn’t nosily invade her and her friends’ privacy ... only to his surprise that whoever messaged her , wasn’t a friend at all . Or a ‘kid’ for that matter .
To his disgust , Saburo was immediately bombarded with unsolicited , unintelligent , and entirely revolting pictures , disgusting messages , and an inexplicably disturbed feeling in his stomach . Throwing the whole ‘not to be nosy’ idea out the window , it didn’t matter to him whether his sister would be upset by this discovery or not . The more he read , the more he felt as through she wouldn’t mind his intervention either . Although the pictures were something that popped up only now during Saburo’s computer use , the disgusting , carefully crafted , grooming behavior was long time present . With rage , he began to type back in response , hoping to find out more about whatever sick mind decided to toy with a 10 year old girl .
Spending the rest of his night in attempts to garner information , it unfortunately hadn’t resulted in much ... and worse , resulted in the first ever unfinished , zero assignment Saburo was incapable of turning in . Needless to say , his parents were furious . Even while a simple explanation would clear up everything , the 14 year old felt trapped -- unsure of whether to share the real reason behind the whole thing ( after all , if they found out , she would never be allowed on the computer ever again -- and probably the rest of the kids too . And you could be sure that he wouldn’t escape unscathed for not telling them immediately .. but the latter , the punishment to him , was irrelevant .) His sister’s safety from both sides were at stake . So simply , he didn’t say a word .
Skipping out on baseball practice and family time to manage his schoolwork and ‘fishing’ activities , Saburo had changed the access to his sisters account so she wouldn’t be able to log in elsewhere , while still keeping the account itself relatively the same . If he were going to catch this guy , it would be easiest to continue under the guise of his sister -- as sick as it made him feel . Ultimately , she had asked him about it , being the last one to use the computer lately , but Saburo simply told her the website put a weird virus on their computer , and to try not to use it anymore -- but everything would be OK -- he’s handling it . Fortunately for him , 10 year olds are likely to buy the words of their trusted older siblings .
A week had passed , and it was a Friday ; a day typically when his elder siblings and parents were out the majority of the day on their work or school business -- as Fridays are the most popular for social events and activities . Saburo was the eldest in the house now , the only day of the week where he was to watch over his two youngers with utmost care . In the past , they would spend it playing board games , practicing ballet routines , tea parties -- simple kid stuff .. But now , Saburo had already devoted the free hours of his days to this unknown creep . Today he planned to do no different . He was obsessed ; the fuel of pure anger and anxiety driving him to unmask this shameless man . As he was preparing to log in for the evening , the house phone started to ring .
Being in charge , he was naturally the one to filter all incoming calls . With a grunt , he got up , moving over enough to pull it off the rack .
It was a familiar voice -- a family friend who owns the famous boxing gym their parents frequent . At first it was just pleasantries , and Saburo explained that his parents werent home , that they were probably heading over there , so whatever message he had for them it was probably best to hold off . He agreed , thanking him for the advice , and the two hung up .
Online was surprisingly quiet for the day , so Saburo managed to have a couple hours of playtime with his siblings . They danced , played karaoke .. and swam around in the training pool in their backyard . As it approached night time , Saburo and Goro got out , heading into the kitchen to prepare dinner for the three as Shiro stayed in the pool . When Saburo placed their dinner in the oven , a scream rang from outside . He immediately turned to look , seeing a giant man shrouded in blending darkness chase his sister around the pool . Without letting another second waste , the boy jetted out there , attempting to intercept the intruder -- but was quickly matched at the jaw by the sharp strike of a quirk . It felt familiar to him somehow , but the heightened nerves of the situation made him not read into it . Simultaneously , his sister , running for her life , had slipped and fell .. the shock of watching her line of defense getting stuck so heavily caused her to absently watch her footwork .. Resulting in a slip , a knock on her head with the pavement , and a dive into the pool . As the intruder made his escape under this cover , Saburo forced himself to refocus and train his efforts to getting Shiro , having no choice but to let the man escape . Attempting first aid as Goro called 119 , the two worked together to aid their sister .
Very fortunate , the results came out being that she would be OK . Had she fallen differently , it would have been a different story -- but to an extreme stroke of luck , there was no internal damage . She would have to stay in the hospital for a week for insurance purposes , as she was out like a light , but everything was said to be fine .
Despite the fantastic news , Saburo was quiet . He could help but feel as though he had failed ; here his sister was , in the hospital , a result of his negligence and lack of supervision .. He thought that , since the kitchen was just a slider door away , it would be ok .. but ..
It all ate at him ; as he lay in bed , numerous thoughts swam through his brain . As if sensing this , the backlight of his phone and soft buzz on the nightstand started up and caught his attention . He picked it up , checking the notification .
“ I heard everything. It was on the news ; poor girl -- I’ll visit you, in the hospital . ”
He did not sleep that night .
The next two days , Saburo didn’t even show up to school -- breaking his perfect attendance . He sat in his sisters hospital room , hiding in the closet once visitor hours were over , simply waiting . He forced himself awake , refusing to take his eyes away from the situation for another moment . Such a mistake costed her to end up here ... He didn’t want to think what could happen if he were to do so again . Petrified , traumatized , Saburo sat there .. a ghost . She did have visitors , no one particularly out of the ordinary -- their parents and siblings (to which he especially hid himself from , having skipped school . Naturally , they were worried about him -- unsure of where he was -- but he refused to show his face until he redeemed himself. he couldn’t bear to watch his parents cry for a mistake he felt he made). Her school friends visited , leaving generous gifts , even Saburo’s baseball teammates -- though they were the only ones who knew he was there , and the only ones who kept his secret . They were helping out on the sidelines , bringing him food and other necessities , while keeping an eye on Goro for him . They even helped out around the house in his absence -- but they were resolute in not disclosing where he was , playing a good role of “i don’t know.” And finally , people from the boxing gym , to pay their respects and give her gifts that any kid would like . Her room had become a perfect hiding place in itself -- there were so many giant stuffed animals , boxes of sweets , gifts , you name it .. But Saburo still stuck with the closet .
Upon the second night , the owner of the boxing gym rolled in , setting down similar items . Saburo was so exhausted by this point , he could barely keep his eyes open -- and almost thought he was imagining things when this man seemed to be leaning ... over ... too close . that was too close . With barely a board fitting between his sister and this man , Saburo’s eyes practically shot open , a surge of adrenaline filling his veins as the boy busted out of the closet , vaulting himself toward the man . Shocked by his presence , he hadn’t moved , but quickly threw him off -- causing a large crash . Panicked , the man pressed the “help” button , wanting to be the first person on the situation -- as they always do -- to avoid suspicion .
The nurses restrained the feral child , his shouts and thrashing causing a commotion in the entire hospital . The police quickly tased him , attempting to detain him so that they could pull him into custody . “Oh no , don’t press charges .“ the man said . “He was just looking out for his sister, there’s no crime against that.“
That night , after a long scolding , hugs of relief that their son was OK after all , and a much needed nap , Saburo found his sleep pattern completely out of wack . He was awake at 3 AM , when his cellphone started to ring . Still tired , he picked it up without a thought , and answered -- but it wasn’t as pleasant as he was expecting . From what his exhausted brain could gather , it was blackmail . Bribery that if he said anything about what happened in the hospital , not only would no one believe him , but his mother’s hard work and career would be history . Guess it would be Another sleepless night .
Saburo was speechless at school . He was speechless at baseball practice , and he said nothing at family dinner . His eyes were dark with bags -- he was weak . He felt weak . The stress , the fear , the threats -- it was all eating him alive . And worst of all , he couldn’t be at his sisters side anymore ; he was banned from the hospital after the whole fiasco . The thought that that man .. That trash could walk in any time without a suspicion , and he couldn’t do anything about it .. It just about snapped him . He had to do something .
And so , he created a new online persona -- “one of Shiro’s [fake] school friends” -- to lure in this bastard . Coming across as a big fan of his , Saburo talked the man into a one-on-one tour of boxing gym -- just the two of them , after hours when ‘swim club was out for the day’. Disgustingly , the man agreed , but as revolted as he was , Saburo couldnt help but feel excited . For the first time in a few days , he had solid sleep .
Skipping school that day to prepare , his teammates and him devised a plan to execute . They would hide outside , incase something went wrong , while Saburo insisted on going inside by himself .
As it reached the hour , the gym was low - lit and empty . The man did his final rounds , ensuring everything was perfect . Saburo , who had stolen a key from his mother , had slipped inside .
Approaching the man , he wound up his quirk , the tension of his arms adding to his anxiety as he waited for the target to turn -- and surprise him with a full - forced wallop to the face . Unrelenting , the boy went off on him in a way he never knew he could , practically beating him into a bloody pulp . Unfortunately , one of the regulars who trained there had went back after forgetting their gloves -- quickly coming to the aid of the man on the floor by taking out Saburo .
The next time Saburo came to , he was in prison .
CLASS 1-L / CONVICT . after being arrested for aggravated assault , breaking - and - entering , quirk use , and cat - fishing . Saburo was looking at some long time in jail . He had left the man paralyzed , and as a result fired and spread rumors around about his mother out of pure bitterness . Needless to say , her parents lost their fame and jobs quickly -- and they were no longer sought after for contracts . Ichiro and Nijiro were able to keep them afloat with their high paying jobs -- keeping them well until something can turn around for this family . They tried to get their brother out on bail , but his crimes were considered too hefty ; there was no way they were letting him out to walk freely . Ontop of everything , the man attempted to sue -- as if they weren’t stripped of financial support enough . His teammates , trying to help out any way they could , told everyone who would listen about what happened . Fortunately , someone eventually did , and a few days later the Honda’s got a letter in the mail to discuss solutions . Their parents refused to accept the idea that Saburo would do this without a reason . The idea that he was a bad kid was expired food they refused to swallow . Without any hesitation , they accepted any help they could get .. thanks to his mothers remaining connections , that was when DSCAR was put on the table .
For anyone unfamiliar with class 1 - L , here’s information about it ! ( x ) or you can read about it under the DSCAR tab in Towa’s bio ( x ) .
extras . One of the reasons Saburo wears a helmet constantly , is because after his sisters head trauma , for the following few months she would have to wear a bulky helmet for stability . It made her feel out of place , so Saburo decided to wear one all the time with her to make her feel less abnormal .
Goro performs ballet as a hobby , and Saburo often helps him or practices routines with him .
He has a good relationship with his family , but because he wants to be someone they can depend on as well , he often takes too much on for himself. as a “gifted child,” he feels he shouldn’t ask for help .

hi!! this character is part of a set of 12 (encompassing all canon classes, blood colours, & aspects) i made over the past month or so in celebration of homestuck being a decade old. they’re all based on various vocaloid songs. (*rubs my evil little hands together* I don’t think you understand how excited I am for this. I get to combine all of my teenage interests together in one place!) (You say you’ve got 12 Trolls coming so I’m going to base all of my classpect comments on making your characters better fit the Titles you’ve assigned them!)
Alternia or Beforus or some type of AU?An AU Alternia! Same planet at base, entirely different backstory with different ancestors & different population & rules and all that jazz.
Name (preferably include how you came up with it and why): Cimova Vienne. “Cimova” is from The Czech word for “decimate,“ decimovat. "Vienne” is from the Viennese Waltz, the dance style!
Theme: she’s based on the song World’s End Dancehall! while it’s open for a lot of interpretation in regards to what’s really going on there, my own basic interpretation is simply “the world is ending, so instead of stand in terror, celebrate what life you have left and dance.” so that’s the interpretation she’s based on. (You even linked the lordxwillie video I’m getting flashbacks to being 13 right now god. WED Is still a bop and Wowaka is a genius though.)
Age:9 sweeps / 19 human years old
Strife Specibus:Spearkind.
Fetch Modus:Hop & Step. It’s essentially DDR or a real-life rhythm minigame of sorts – each captchalogued item is assigned a separate movement sequence; she has to repeat the steps correctly to get the item she wants. Enough screwups and it’ll eject her entire inventory (and she needs enough space to move about, too.)
Blood color: Tyrian!
Symbol and meaning:
it’s essentially a stylised line drawing of a person dancing! i prefer not to use the trollcall zodiac for my own trolls, so i tend to make my own or find them while researching lol
Trolltag:[DD] devantDenouement. “devant” is a dance term meaning ‘in front of;’ “denouement” essentially means “finale.” so essentially it just means she’s “in front of the end.” like it’s just in sight?
Quirk:Proper senNtenNce capitalizationN ~ Separates words with “~” inNstead of periods, doubles the letter “n” to give a sort of feeling of ascenNsionN ~
Special Abilities (if any):none! well, sort of – she gets vague prophetic visions on occasion, as explained in the backstory. but it’s not caste-related. (Classic Doom. Also remember that Tyrians have INCREDIBLE physical toughness and psychic resistance- they’re the only ones who can survive the Vast Glub.)
Lusus: An enormous sea monster! Sort of like a sea hydra, with multiple heads. Partly scaly in a pattern reminiscent of a leopard’s spots, with a ring of material almost resembling a lion’s mane at the base of the neck where every head meets. it’s inspired by the Beast of the Sea from the Book of Revelations!
Personality:Surprisingly upbeat because of her own personal philosophy that you should live every day to the fullest. If you’re bogged down by nothing but your own attitude and something happens, you’re going to die with only regret! So she goes out of her way to avoid that. She’s pretty lighthearted, loves to joke around (even if her jokes can have a bit of a meaner streak to them), and tries to extend as much empathy as her limited highblood understanding can allow, though she still slips up easily. It’s hard to catch your own tone sometimes. She’s also got a pretty short fuse despite her nicer demeanour and tends to crack easily because of all the pressure she’s under. (Positive Doom players are a rarity but this is definitely one of the ways to do it! I think a big thing she’s missing here is some fatalism. She’s a Doom player, a Seer, and a Prospit Dreamer, so her having a distinct idea of Fate as a thing you can’t battle against is definitely something that would happen.) (My suggestion here is to make her something of a positive nihilist? Like “We’re all gonna die someday- what’s the point in delaying the inevitable when we go and do whatever we want and have fun!”)
Interests: Dance (every & any kind, though she actually prefers studying & researching the various forms of Alternian dance to actually performing a majority of them. she likes actually dancing ballet & ballroom style), court etiquette due to her extensive amount of time in the presence of the Alternian court, treasure-hunting and deep-sea diving. She’s also got an interest in risk-taking and risky activities as a whole and does a lot of things for a thrill. The one (1) thing she is actively banned from is FLARPing, so she just has her friends tell her stories about that (and adores them, so it’s an interest in its own right.) (Why though? Because she’s an Heiress? I’m not finding much of a canon justification for her not being allowed to Flarp, but it’s been a while since it’s come up, admittedly.) (Doom is associated with Coding and strict rules, but I actually think you could use her love of Dance as a Doom extension! She particularly likes Ballroom and Ballet you mentioned, both forms with rigorous training and technique and a colloquial tie to rigid society!)
Title:Seer of Doom (As a Seer, she’ll passively and fully comprehend the death and inevitability that will follow and haunt her for the rest of her life. This extends to rules and game design, so within Sgrub she’d be practically the ultimate rules lawyer! She’d know every particular innately, every weird rules interaction.) (This, of course, extends to the Inverse, the Witch of Life: Her incredible understanding would allow her to exploit loopholes for her and her team in order to change how the grow as people!)
Land:Land of Stairways & Dead-Ends. A maze of a land that leaves you climbing and descending with no real end or way to get around in sight, leaving the wandering consorts desolate and lost. Her quest would be to basically find a way through the land & clear out / map out a path from beginning to end. (Lands aren’t my forte, admittedly; these are hard to come up with!)
Dream Planet:Prospit
Backstory For Context: as one of last-hatched the Tyrian bloods that wasn’t a direct descendant to the current empress, she was originally raised with the expectation that she’d simply become a high-ranking member of troll society without getting any chance at the Alternian throne. However, in adolescence she started having vague, prophetic visions of doom, death, and unavoidably grim circumstances. Unbeknownst to her, this was her designated abilities as a Seer of Doom manifesting in a latent sort of manner. Through these vague, occasional visions and her distribution of warnings to the trolls involved, she caught the eye of the empress & her personal court, and was eventually granted the privilege of becoming her heiress due to this skill. Despite not being her true descendant, or really anyone hatched near said descendant’s birth. So she’s been getting used to the pressures of being raised as an heiress recently. (The one thing that’s confusing me about this is where the Fuchsia Bloodlust went? We know Feferi doesn’t feel it with quite the intensity Meenah does, but it’s a very big concern for your character who lives around other Fuchsias.)
(heeled shoe base made by fan-troll, everything else hand-sprited)
(some particular notes about her base outfit: for one she’s specifically wearing dancing shoes! and also because of her particular situation & status she’s pretty recognisable as-is, so within the AU’s allowances she just elects to keep her symbol stamped on the ankle of her socks.)

November’s Featured Game: lux (dream.girl)
DEVELOPER(S): Rindre Rindere ENGINE: RPGMaker 2k3 GENRE: Psychological Horror, Exploration SUMMARY: lux (dream.girl) is a surreal psychological horror game created in RPG Maker 2003 where you play as Benjamin, a socially inept teenage writer who struggles with depression, loneliness, and writer’s block. When he decides to try lucid dreaming to figure out how to push his story forward, he meets new friends, new enemies, and his literal dream girl. Making certain choices will either help or hurt his relationships, and the outcome of his story.
Download the demo here!
Introduce yourself! *Hi! I'm Rindre! I've been working on RPG Maker for about 5 or 6 years at this point! First and foremost, I'm an artist, then a game developer, then a voice actor. I am also a garlic bread enthusiast. You might also know me as: -The voice of Aria/the lead translator in Aria's Story -Will's Teacher in The Hanged Man -The mod of Yumeresource -The admin of the RPG Horror Discord server -The host of the Pixel Horror Jams! I'm also on plenty of teams, mostly as a voice actor. These include b/f, AURORA, and The Doctrine of Perseverance.
What is your project about? What inspired you to create your game initially? *Rindre: lux is about a boy named Ben, who is an aspiring writer who hits a writer's block and tries to take up lucid dreaming to interact with his stories and characters find out how to advance his story. He ends up meeting interesting people, including his literal dream girl. Yume Nikki is a big inspiration for me. My stories I had written when I was younger also played a huge part, and I decided to recycle bits and pieces of them into lux. Ultimately, the frustrations and experience of being a content creator inspired me to make the game. Hopefully these themes will ring universal to whoever relates to being a creator as well.
How long have you been working on your project? *Rindre: You could say 5 years, or 2 years, or since July 2017! lux actually originated as a Yume Nikki fangame in 2012 (as are all games I've made...). I picked it up again on October 2 2015 as a concept to keep a work log, but actually making it into a tangible product took me until 2017's Pixel Horror Jam. The work log has 30+ pages to it! The Yume Nikki fangame version was prepared to be released, but I forgot, and now I'm too ashamed to release it because I meant to do it 5 years ago :(
Did any other games or media influence aspects of your project? *Rindre: I'm a big fan of psychological and sci-fi/cyberpunk media. These things usually ask: Who are we, and who are we in other people's eyes? What defines us? What does it mean to be an individual in our society? It's a question I like to ask myself and explore in my own projects. My major inspirations who ask these existential questions are deep within Satoshi Kon's works and Philip K Dick's stories, as well as other movies that were inspired by those two or are in the genre (like The Matrix, Inception, Akira, Ghost In The Shell, Serial Experiments Lain, etc.). Some other inspirations and influences that might be surprising are: Kappa Mikey (art style mixing), Vocaloid producers (Crusher-P, Mothy, Yuyoyuppe), Evangelion, Linkin Park, the Hamtaro GBA games, Kirby, and my own dreams. Unsurprisingly, Yume Nikki is the biggest inspiration. I really like the concept of dreams and escapism, and how it often plays into existentialism.
Have you come across any challenges during development? How have you overcome or worked around them? *Rindre: They say that when making a game, 10% is actual development and 90% is bugfixing/quality assurance. This is VERY TRUE. I spent a couple months working with my bugtesters (Thanks Biel, Choko, Meaka, Pinkuboa, and Uboaappears). The actual demo was a bunch of crunch time for the jam, which was July - August). There were a lot of bugfixes involved, including a bug I was so puzzled with and thought I couldn't fix but the solution was so simple. It took me a month to figure it out! The RM2k3 update caused a bit of trouble for me, but I thank my bugtesters endlessly for helping me squash most, if not all, bugs. On the other hand, in case anybody asks, yes: I have lucid dreamt of my characters in lux when I hit a roadblock. These were never successful. I've only been able to do it twice, both by accident.
Have any aspects of your project changed over time? How does your current project differ from your initial concept? *Rindre: I usually go into development with a clear idea in mind with certain events and endings, but lux differs greatly from its old Yume Nikki counterpart (dream.girl). Notable major changes: Ben now wears glasses. Ben is now a writer. Stella used to not be a bunny. Stella also did not have any stars in her eyes before. The only things retained was the concept of dreaming a dream girl, and Ben's and Stella's names and facial appearance. Even if I make a bunch of plot outlines and flowcharts, things change, but it's natural! The stories that occur within lux also have changed slightly plot-wise from their earlier pre-2012 counterparts (most were written over 10 years ago!), and are begging for a facelift. One involved parkour, but sadly, there is no parkour anymore :(
What was your team like at the beginning? How did people join the team? If you don't have a team, do you wish you had one or do you prefer working alone? *Rindre: I prefer working alone when it's my project! I like working at my own pace, but if needed, I'll reach out to other people for help. I like helping people out on their projects too, but when it comes to my own, I like to handcraft everything by myself. It shows me what I'm capable of doing, and gives my game a "this was 100% made by me" stamp.
What is the best part of developing a game? *Rindre: Making music is relaxing and lets me convey a mood or theme without having to take out my tablet to draw or write something extensively. Being able to relax yet still work on the game is great. I like nights where I can sit down and make something nice I can put in my game. A lot of them are on my SoundCloud (Rindere), but some of the really nice ones are ones I haven't uploaded there. I'm really not a musician, but I did take a class on music technology. My favorite ones going to be in lux on my SoundCloud are "Nepenthean", which is also Ben's theme, "Choke On Your Misery", and "Empyria Incarnadine". It's also really nice to get files from your voice actors and they sound EXACTLY like how you thought your character would sound like! Special thanks to Aidan, Mizu, JR, and Nuei.
Do you find yourself playing other RPG Maker games to see what you can do with the engine, or do you prefer to do your own thing? *Rindre: I prefer to do my own thing! I like to push RPG Maker 2003 to the limit. A lot of the cool effects were done before the major update of RM2k3 that came out earlier last month. Some things I thought were never possible in RM2k3 are things that I made possible after some thought. Like any problem, it can be solved in a bunch of ways, even if you have limitations.
Which character in your game do you relate to the most and why? (Alternatively: Who is your favorite character and why?) *Rindre: The character I relate to the most is actually my least favorite character. It's Ben! I specifically modeled him after myself but changed certain things, like the intensity of his reactions. It was actually difficult to write him, because I had to think about how I would react in the situations I put Ben in. I feel like I had to get into some kind of mindset that was "mine", but also "not mine" as well.
Looking back now, is there anything that regret/wish you had done differently? *Rindre: I feel like I could've released the game sooner, or continued work on FLUX instead. I would like to go back to working on FLUX soon, since I haven't worked on it in a long while. But after hosting the Pixel Horror Jam with Choko and jamming on this game, I'd like to rest up a bit before I take on a big project again.
Once you finish your project, do you plan to explore game's universe and characters further in subsequent projects, or leave it as-is? *Rindre: Because lux is part of the -UX Series, it would naturally be a series with other entries. I don't know if or when they'll all be created, nor if they'll all be games, but I do eventually hope to see it finish. Something I want to explore is to further flesh out the stories Ben has written, especially because they were concepts written before lux ever came up as a concept. I've also given them -UX titles! I think I'll work on Crux/quX next.
What do you look most forward to upon/after release? *Rindre: I am donating proceeds to the One More Light Fund with what is being donated to the itch.io-uploaded version of lux, so I really am looking forward to donating to a cause that is important to me. I encourage people to donate to the OML Fund directly, not through me. I also really like fan reaction, but I love the catharsis of releasing something you've made. It's a mix of relief and pride, but a little bit of anxiety because you don't know how well the fan reaction will be. I hope that my game will affect somebody in a positive, personal way, whether it be a new favorite game, something for them to draw, or become inspiration for their own works. I look forward to free time and rewarding myself with something good, like chicken parmesan too!
Is there something you're afraid of concerning the development or the release of your game? *Rindre: I constantly ask, "Is my game worthy enough for others to play? Is my game good enough?" But when it comes down to it, really you're asking it to yourself, not to the people that will play your game. Sometimes, you have to sit down and ask yourself, "Am I satisfied with what I have made so far?" Then you go down the list of things you've made and say either, "I'm proud of this!" or "This could use some more work." and you fix it accordingly. The first audience of your game is always you, so if your game is "worthy" and "good enough" to you, then it is for other people.
Question from last month's featured dev (Team Galanx): What kind of stories do you appreciate most in RPG Maker games? For example, do you like ones based off real-life experiences, fantasy elements, or morals? *Rindre: My series of games is called the -UX Series, with there being 4 main stories that are related to each other: "FLUX", "lux", "Ux.", and "X". The rest of the titles end in "-ux" as well. It was only natural to do that!
Do you have any advice for upcoming devs? *Rindre: Game Development -Give things meaningful names. -Back up your work in three different places. -Back up your games frequently. -Never be afraid to remake things, but do this occasionally. If you do this frequently, you'll be caught up in a loop of perfectionism. -Think if the cool new thing you want to put in will actually serve a proper purpose in the game. If it's only there just to be cool, don't put it in your game. -If things don't work out, it's perfectly fine to scrap ideas. -Don't pander. Make a game you want to make, not what others want to play. Releasing your game -Reach out to people who haven't played games similar to yours. You'll have opinions that you wouldn't normally get, compared to others who are familiar with your type of game. -Learn how to take critique. This might be the skill that will take you the longest to hone. -Not everyone is out to get you, but sometimes there will be people who want to bring you down. Even if this happens, there are always people there to support you. -You don't have to agree with every critique given to you. Other advice -If you're not embarrassed about your old work, then you haven't progressed. Continue to improve your skills and yourself. -Don't compare yourself to others. Compare yourself to your past self instead. -Don't be working on your game 24/7. Take up hobbies to occupy yourself, so you don't get burned out. -Learn to be a generalist, but also learn to specialize in something that people will recognize you for. -Be proud of your work.
We mods would like to thank Rindre for agreeing to our interview! We believe that featuring the developer and their creative process is just as important as featuring the final product. Hopefully this Q&A segment has been an entertaining and insightful experience for everyone involved!
Remember to check out lux if you haven’t already! See you next month!

TLNM Headcanons
This is the first time I’ve actually shared headcanons (and they’re really dumb). These are for the movie just because I’ve been thinking about it a lot, but I have ones for the series if anyone is interested.
Other than Nya and Kai, Cole and Jay have known each other the longest. They used to be neighbours before Jay's parents moved to the outskirts of Ninjago City.
Kai and Nya don't have parents. They both have jobs to be able to afford their apartment, although Kai insists he could just work two jobs so Nya has more time to study and focus on her grades.
Nya and Zane get the best grades out the group, across all of their subjects (the two of them have a friendly competition going whenever big tests come up, which the rest of the group find terrifying). Jay comes next with pretty good grades, especially in science and IT, then there's Cole and Lloyd (they get roughly the same) with middle-ish grades, Cole does best in art and music while Lloyd's better at english and foreign languages. Kai has the worst grades of the bunch (but not bad grades, he just gets Cs mainly), he's better at hands-on subjects like woodwork.
They often have movie nights at their base. Jay likes romance and sci-fi, Cole and Kai enjoy action movies, Lloyd prefers things with deep stories and morals, Nya likes monster movies and horror (she has nerves of steel) while Zane enjoys kung fu movies as well as animated films.
They argue over who had the most fans. It got to the point they did an online poll about it. Turns out Lloyd had the most fans, he was kind of smug about it for weeks.
They have a team fridge which they all keep food in. It used to get raided during the night so they set up a camera to see who it was. Turns out it was Wu in his sleep.
When they stay late at base after a battle to hang out and work on the mechs they take it in turns to get the food. When it's Kai or Nya they usually get takeout, Cole buys whatever he can find at the local store, Zane cooks for them on this portable stove he has, Jay brings some of his mom's cooking to share and Lloyd gets pastries from the nearest bakery.
After Koko found out about the ninja thing she started visiting their base often. She makes sure they all do their homework, are getting enough sleep, are eating properly and brings them snacks. It embarrasses Lloyd so much.
They have gaming tournaments sometimes. Usually the finalists are either Kai, Jay or Nya. If it's Kai and Nya the sibling rivalry is so thick you could cut it with a knife. With Jay and Kai there's a lot of playful shoving which ends up with one of them falling off the couch. Then when it's Nya and Jay it's a lot quieter, just super tense.
They have found fanfiction of people shipping the ninja together. Most of the time it's pretty funny, except when they ship Kai and Nya together. Kai actually passed out when they first found out, and he didn't wake up for an hour. They were worried they'd broken him.
No matter how old they get the Ninja will always go trick-or-treating. Kai insists they do it, and no one has the heart to tell him no because of how excited he gets.
After the movie the group decided to look after Meowthra, they take turns feeding them and giving them belly rubs. It's basically their mascot now.
Movie Kai -
He's super athletic. It doesn't matter what sport it is, he's tried it at least once. Sometimes it isn't even a sport like dance or cheerleading.
Speaking of cheerleading, Kai tried out for the team at the start of the year since he thought it would be fun. He did a routine to something positive like 'Stick Together' (he didn't make the cut because he was friends with Lloyd (he didn't mind though)). P.S. The idea of cheerleader Kai is my jam!
He tries to get into what his friends are interested in, like he got into music when Cole started talking to the group about it or online videogaming when Jay said he had no one to play with.
He wants to make his friends happy no matter what. Seriously, Lloyd once texted him at 3am saying he was sad and Kai at his apartment in 10 mins panting, holding a shopping bag full of ice cream ready to chill with him.
Kai is incredibly clingy, especially when someone's upset. If he sees someone crying he will hug them for 3 hours straight and refuse to let go.
Clumsy is definitely a word to describe him. No one wants to be his lab partner thanks to what was lovingly dubbed the 'Storage room incident' (they still haven't repaired all the damages).
Despite him loving being a ninja, he's always worrying if something bad is going to happen to his friends. It keeps him up at night most of the time (it's the reason he sleeps in class so much).
Due to his irregular sleeping habits the other ninja have found him asleep in weird places. Such as: His mech, his locker, their double-decker couch, their regular couch, under his desk, the janitor's closet and the fridge (it was summer at the time).
He owns the teddy bear backpack (like from the concept art). He brought it to school a couple times but it got taken by some bullies, who his friends had to restrain him from beating to a pulp, and he hasn't taken it since.
He cares about his hair a lot. He carries around a hair brush with him at all time, as well as hairspray and dry conditioner. Kai also knowns how to do loads of different styles, including multiple kinds of braids.
Like his series counterpart, Kai is afraid of water and cannot swim. The group went to a waterpark once and he had to wear armbands and a floaty ring to go on the slides.
Movie Zane -
Zane has been called 'Mom' by each of his friends at least once, Lloyd does it the most.
When he sings he sounds like a vocaloid (if you don't what this is, look it up).
Speaking of that, he would probably enjoy listening to that music. He finds it relatable and nice to hear a computer singing.
He enjoys really mild food and can't process sugar that well, so he has flavourless food a lot (like his water flavoured popsicles)
He has a vlog about the ninja that they have all featured on more than once. His most popular videos are fail compilations he makes of their battles
He has the best handwriting, like he could a calligrapher it's that good. Jay cried when he looked at it the first time because he thought it was beautiful.
When he first started school he had no idea about personal space. He still doesn't get it now and so he's fine when Cole leans on him a lot.
Zane enjoys when winter comes around. He can't feel the cold that much so he often lends his scarf to Kai when the other is shivering. He can also ice skate which the others found amazing the first time they went to a rink together.
He doesn't sleep that much so he often stays up late messaging Kai on his phone (they talk about the strangest things)
He names every piece of tech he owns. His phone is called 'Yuki'.
During the first month of the ninjas being friends none of them saw Zane eat, since he doesn't need to that often. Until Kai had enough and took him out for ice cream, because he was sure he was going to eat it out of anything else.
Movie Cole -
He listens to music to help him sleep at night, even though he knows it's bad for him.
Cole has no sense of taste, like he'll eat anything, and he can handle really spicy food like it's nothing
He wants to have a song for every occasion, no matter how weird it is, since he thinks life should have a backing track. He constantly asks the others for situations so he can check if he has music for it yet. (He still hasn't found 'being bitten by a snake that was bitten by a spider' for Garmadon, but he's trying).
He will listen to music in other languages, sometimes he looks up lyrics if he's really curious but most of the time he just enjoys how other languages sound.
Cole knows how to play at least 10 instruments, including but not limited to the violin, the guitar, the drums, the flute and the piano.
He often forgets to brush his hair. When he and Kai started being friends Kai almost had a heart attack when he found out. Now the fire ninja makes sure he always has it brushed in the morning, even if he has to do it for him.
When he has to have classes without his headphones on, because the teacher took them or something, he starts humming or taps his foot. Anything to make noise, he doesn't like quiet all that much.
He can imitate phone notification noises. He does it in class when he's bored to see how many people move to check their phone (he caught the teacher out once, and couldn't stop laughing).
Cole's actually blue-yellow colour blind. He sometimes mistakes Jay for Lloyd and vice versa when they're in their ninja uniform.
Movie Jay -
Videogaming is way of life for him. He plays anything. Retro, PC, co-op, shooters; It really doesn't matter to him.
He listens to music while he games sometimes if he doesn't like the game soundtrack or if he needs to get pumped up.
Everyone knows about his crush on Nya, except Nya and Kai. The former because he hasn't told her yet and the latter due to the fact no one knows how he'll react to the news.
Gets sick a lot. It annoys him to no end. His mom is constantly sending him to school with thermoses of noodle soup for colds, and tons of medicine.
He gets stressed a lot. Jay has a habit of overthinking things to the point it hurts his head to think about. He's starting to drink herbal teas from Wu to help with it.
He has kitten sneezes. Everyone thinks it's the cutest thing ever.
He owns like a million scarfs, and they're all knitted by his mom. He refuses to get rid of any of them because of how long she spent on each one.
He is terrified of Furbys, he thinks they're creepy and shouldn't be given to kids.
Jay can actually knit for himself but only makes stuff for other people as gifts.
Movie Nya -
Her grades are the most important thing in her life, besides her bike.
She hates getting ill, because she thinks it makes her look weak and she doesn't want Kai to miss school to take care of her. Even if he insists he can afford time off school.
Was voted: 'Most likely to get away with murder', by her classmates. She wears the title like a badge of honour.
Out of all the ninja she's definitely the most intimidating. Anyone who calls her 'harmless' has regretted it.
Nya enjoys reading in her free time. She likes all types of stories, including manga, comics and visual novels.
She pulls pranks more than most people would expect. It's the reason she didn't get invited to many 'girls only' sleepovers as a kid, due to drawing on people’s faces among other things.
When she found out Koko was Lady Iron Dragon it took her a week to build up the courage to ask for her autograph. (Which is currently framed on her bedroom wall.)
Usually forgets to eat breakfast in the morning, so Zane started bringing her snacks before school so Kai won't worry about her health.
She's super supportive of all of her friends. She's usually the one cheering the loudest for them and patting them on the back for a job well done.
Her dream is to travel the world after they graduate. She wants to see everything the world has to offer, but she always insists her home base will be Ninjago.
Movie Lloyd -
When he's sad he eats sugary food, especially ice cream. It worries his mom so he doesn't do it that much nowadays.
He's a closeted fanboy of anime. Like he has posters and stuff all over his room, which his mom finds adorable, but he refuses to show any of his friends. Kai found out about by accident and started watching shows with him.
Much like his series counterpart, when Lloyd was a kid he had a bowl cut. Cole found a picture of it in a yearbook, they have it hanging up in their base on the fridge.
Up until his eighth birthday he sent Garmadon an invitation to his party just in case his dad actually wanted to come. It broke Koko's heart every time he didn't and Lloyd locked himself in his room.
Jay once said he looked like Link from Zelda. It stuck with him to the point he dressed up as him for Halloween. Everyone thought it was great.
His sense of humour is like 40% self-deprecating and 60% sarcasm, no one knows if he's serious most of the time because of it.
He's jokingly been called Kai and Nya's 'sibling' before because of how protective the two are of him, they don't mind and take it as a compliment. When Koko heard it for the first time she started crying and said she would love to have Kai and Nya as part of the family.
He has tons of mini cacti in his room, because he thinks their cute. They each have unique pots and names. He talks to them when he's lonely and thinks no one is listening.
He sometimes steals food from the team fridge and blames it on someone else (no one has actually caught him yet).

Shipping and .Hack Part 2
.Hack//IMOQ is even less focused on romance than .Hack//SIGN and yet shipping...uh...finds a way.
Pixiv Source
IMOQ:
My personal experience with shipping and IMOQ is nonexistent because I have always found the characters in this part of the franchise to be very flat. It’s hard to ship people who have basically no personality aside from cliches.
The game’s attempts at romance are very clumsy. There’s an affection feature for no apparent reason. You can’t date anyone and there’s no unlockable wedding, like there is in GU, for your trouble. In-story, Kite never really has a love interest but instead has this awkward, cliche harem-thing. BlackRose and Terajima Ryoko fight over him in one scene and Natsume confesses her love to him in an email. Gardenia also probably has a crush on Kite. Like in most harem situations, kite has all the character of a dead fish. There is a vague sense that BlackRose and Kite are end game because of the “Main guy-main girl” trope. They have no chemistry.
As far as other canon relationships go, we never get to meet Mistral’s husband but she’s married. Lios and Helba are also, apparently, which I think is kinda cute (they might be the one ship I find interesting). Lastly, there’s Elk and Mia which I would interpret as platonic (unless you count that one scene in .Hack//GIFT lmao).
I think it’s pretty interesting that Balmung never gets any romantic attention since he’s supposed to be this limited-edition bishounen dude. I still say he’s ace or demi. He seems like the type who doesn’t even think about love.
Ships I found Fanfiction.net/Pixiv/AO3 (Graded by me):
BlackRose x Natsume -- B, Wow what an interesting idea. This was honestly the first ship I found scrolling IMOQ fanfic and I didn’t see it coming at all. Points for originality. I think this could work well because BlackRose is pretty guarded and sensitive while Natsume is more frank and happy-go-lucky. Nice.
BlackRose x Kite -- C, I really could never buy them as a couple. I feel like they never get past the awkward acquaintances stage based on their dialogue. They never really have any deep heart-to-hearts despite going through the same tragedy. A boring ship.
Kite x Elk -- C, Honestly, whenever I try to imagine an Elk ship working I just picture him going “MIA! AROMATIC GRASS!” over and over again. His character is so one note in the game that I can’t picture him forming a meaningful relationship. People seem to like him though because he’s a woobie.
Aura x Kite -- C+, Honestly Aura doesn’t have a personality outside of “mysterious AI” & Kite’s a brick wall so you’d basically have to rewrite the characters for this to be interesting. I like interspecies romance so I gave it bonus points.
Kite x Haseo -- B, let’s be real, you could ship Haseo with anyone & it would probably work. I think it’s because his character is very flexible to the situation, he never really starts conversations he’s always just reacting to others. He’s like a vocaloid (lol) he can be who you want him to be. Whether this is a good thing or a bad thing I dunno.

Okay so I think my bad habit is kinda never introducing myself like- in any of the socmeds so- bcs I've embarrassed myself and creeped ppl out in twitter alr, I'm just gonna introduce myself here.
So- I'm a she/her, 22, honestly I would use my usual alias but apparently that name got busted irl and my irl friends call me that sometimes so to avoid any risk, feel free to call me as shura or rozen or hopper, eh. I don't usually stay in one fandom for long bcs of my half-assedness but apparently kuroo manages to rig me here for quite some time now. Let's see how long it'll last.
To take my half-assedness one step further, i'm an half-assed anime lover, lololol. I prefer reading manga to anime, i no longer even follow the recent animes. The last anime i completed was Violet Evergarden and that's it. Ye, I didn't even watch hq, i got roped in here because of kuroo, stayed for like... 200-ish chapters of the manga bcs for him and the rest- i just kinda figure it out by wikis and ppl's fics and posts and ig posts of hq that are starting to fill my explore page. That's why i'm kinda reluctant to join the fandom bcs i do things halfway okay. I don't have a big enough heart to love and adore all the characters but i kinda wish to meet some fellow kuroo simps. /cries/
Most animes I watched and finished, even through mutiple seasons are only stuffs like Mushishi and Aria (amano kozue's) bcs i'm weak to those kind of soft and slice of life stuffs YwY clamp's works are so frickin' too. I read random manga that catches my eye but i totally love manga like kusuriya no hitorigoto or manga that teaches you random stuffs of life, really. There were also two mangas about bartenders, one was a male bartender while the other was a female and I discovered the term 'bar hopper' where ppl just basically hops from one bar to the other in a night to taste these bars' gin and tonic and that's exactly where i got my inspiration as a reader of fanfictions :)))
I did have favorite bois before but i think it's limited to one per anime- i prefer ootoya in utapri, sebas in black butler, mikazuki in touranbu, i did like izaya before switching to masaomi in drrr, kaito in vocaloid was one of my main bois (i was as obsessed as right now to the point of downloading his music and covers from youtube as audio, wrote one or two of his fic during ff net yo vocaloid was fun times bcs i draw inspiration from songs and their song stories were SO GOOD back then), saru of k project (that boi straight up having THREE kings' power and i got weak spots for pretty bois with messed up pasts YwY saru bby main boi too, straight up wrote his fic with misaki, mikoto and reishi in one chapter lololol), ray in tpn (god i love it so much when norman and emma are baby-ing him dem this boy needs to chill ugh), and now- kuroo :")))) and i love my bois as bottom don't ask why i don't even know myself it's pure torture sometimes especially during sebastian's phase
Bbc's merlin was a wild phase to be in too tho, the fanfics are straight up on all kind of universe and deep plots on varying degrees, fun times
I draw or write or watch anime straight up based on my will and even with the story ideas, i have yet in the mood to write stories so it's mostly just collecting notes in my phone. Kinda leaning more to drawing nowadays. Reading manga / webtoon is an always.
I'm into the isekai genre too but i totally love them when other characters are developed too, kinda like shield hero and my current love, omniscient reader (still can't read their novel tho, i'm not good with novels, i'll patiently wait for the webtoon), solo leveling is no good for me even of my friends' hype, too focused on the MC YwY it's good, ye, but it's preference i guess.
I frequent MRM for yaoi mangas and dem bro i got recs up my sleeves if you ever want some but i'm most definitely into 'black-haired' bottom and most i saved bcs of their fluff and wholesomeness if you're interested- anyways. This is long enough, I'm sorry YwY.
And anyways, I've got AO3 and twitter if y'all interested, same profpic, fanfiction swinger in AO3 and shura_rozen in twitter. I'm not active much bcs i don't know what to post lololol mostly just on these socmeds for fun and discover gorgeous kuroo's art and i intend to make a thread for my favorite fics and pixiv artists so-
Feel free to drop a message or a hi, I'm putting this introduction here bcs i'm not the best at initiating introductions like do i just reply to their posts casually and go from there (bcs ig artists lately are really friendly they reply to story replies) or do i specifically dm ppl but i'm always afraid that i'm imposing on my kuroo simpness. I don't want ppl to hate kuroo bcs they think a kuroo fan (aka me) is toxic- i- but anyways, ye. YwY

master of the heavenly yard -Album-
Master of the Heavenly Yard album booklet content
Case
I’ll go to see you
CD
Will you forsake everything and set out on a trip…?
Will you close off your past…?
Will you continue to live in a false world…?
Or
Will you face reality head on…?
.
Choose as you like.
You're holding the key for that, aren't you?
Booklet
Right now I'll tell you, as plainly as I can, what's happening in this world.
.
I died. You died. Along with the world.
Because of Nemesis…Because that dictator pressed the firing switch on that weapon of mass destruction.
I can't blame Bruno's failure regarding that.
Because I'm sure that even if he had been successful in obliterating her, our destruction
Would have just happened because of some other person.
.
The problem is why we're all continuing to remain suspended here on the ground world.
We don't have our bodies anymore. That much is obvious.
Why is it obvious? Well right now you're not a "tiger"--you have the appearance of a lovely young man.
The deep wrinkles etched into my arms and legs have disappeared, and my skin is smooth.
To the both of us these are the "ideal appearances" that we'd wanted, I'm certain it has something to do with that.
.
There's something more surprising than that.
I saw my father again, for the first time in a long time. My father, who died several decades ago…when I was young.
Dad told me his hypothesis. It was crazy, and yet I also can't help but believe in it.
"We are all spirits," he said.
The weapon of mass destruction, "Punishment", had even destroyed the boundary between heaven and the hellish yard.
So the spirits of the dead all lost their place to go, and are flooding the ground world.
.
So what happens now? I don't know that.
But…there has been some slight unrest.
Souls wearing the uniforms of Tasan Elphegort's military are amassing in a certain place.
It's the area around the theater that's floating in the air. How's a building floating? How am I supposed to know that?
Probably just that this world is "anything goes" now.
Addressing them at the center of it all was the man who went by the name of "the gardener"--I've seen him before.
Gammon Octo. The man who was the leader of the Tasan Party before Nemesis.
I might have to investigate a little more.
.
…I don't really have any desire to take revenge on Gallerian, you know?
In the first place, everyone's already dead anyway. I have no interest in doing so.
That's why I let her go, too.
--Nemesis.
I saw her together with a golden-haired boy.
…If my eyes were working right…she had a "body".
What an unfunny joke. The perpetrator of the world's destruction nonchalantly surviving like that.
Though I don't know if Nemesis considers that a good thing or not.
.
As for the boy?
Dad said something like, ‘isn't that the one who was once the servant who served Princess Riliane of Lucifenia,
Allen Avadonia?’
You don't know him? Yeah, this was the first time I met him too.
He was from a period centuries before mine, after all.
It seems that the spirits of great figures and villains from history have been appearing on the ground world, huh?
When I went to the ruined site of Lucifenia I just had to laugh.
'Cause the "Daughter of Evil" Riliane, and the hero who defeated her, Germaine,
Were partying together like pals.
If you searched all over the world, you'd probably meet up with your ancestors, too, don't you think?
.
Like I said earlier, I'm going to try heading to that theater one more time.
--Yeah, you're coming too huh? I don't mind.
We've been inseparable for a long time now after all.
.
…Wait a minute.
What the heck is that black box--

Afterword
In February 28th, 2008, I uploaded the first song I had made with VOCALOID, "Ten Minute Love", onto a video website.
It was a quick thing, and a span of over nine years have passed since then.
After that I created the songs "Daughter of Evil" and "Servant of Evil", and from there I started developing the Deadly Sin Series that would be set in Evillious.
This current song, "master of the heavenly yard", is meant to be the last chapter of the series.
Its length exceeds fifteen minutes. Out of all the songs I've made it is the longest.
Honestly I had intended to make it even longer, but once I got to around the eight minute mark I had a few limitations.
Though if it was just about making it longer I would have found a way somehow, but there wouldn't be any point in getting fixed on that and making the song boring as a result, so ultimately I settled down on how it is now.
The subtitle for this song is "Re_birthday Truth".
The circumstances that are abstractly depicted in "Re_birthday"'s lyrics are elaborated on here.
(Or perhaps you could treat it as an alternate interpretation of Re_Birthday)
Though the original song is quite old, and so the way it's set up has changed a lot from back then.
...Please go easy on me on that front.
Anyhow, this series that has gone on for so long is at its conclusion for now.
(Though I'm not saying I won't make bonus stories after this
The Clockwork Lullaby series still isn't over yet)
Please buy the novel "master of the heavenly yard" that I'll probably release next
Which may elaborate on the unanswered riddles and foreshadowing.
(This is an advertisement. A blue-haired judge also said once that money is very important)
.
For those of you who've followed the series up to this point,
And for those of you who got this CD without having done so,
You have my deepest appreciation
