Question! I have been getting into DC comics cuz of dpxdc, and I saw your tags on frank Miller on a recent post. One of my irl friends told me to read the dark knight returns and while it was occasionally hard to follow I assumed that was a result of when it was written rather than who wrote it? But I did overall enjoy it.

I guess what I'm asking is why you say frank Miller is a bad writer when it seems like the dark knight returns was so acclaimed?

ok so. A lot of this is my personal opinion and I'm not too equipped to say shit about this because I'm not very political but I'm going to give it my best shot. Put under a cut so folks who don't want to hear about comic ranting can simply scroll past

I’m just gonna write a quick thing for the Nazi stuff, He isn't exactly a Nazi but boy oh boY does he set off many warning flags. Frank Miller is also the writer of the comic 300, if that sounds familiar that's because the movie you're probably thinking of is indeed based off these comics. The Spartan's ideology helped create the baselines of Fascism. Fascism is a pretty leading cause of commentary in Frank Millers work. In Batman: The Dark Knight he is a fascist. In Hard Boiled there's swastikas in the background every so often. (I even went back to reread it just to make sure and yep. they definitely were there) In 300 there's a shitton of Fascism... I could go on but still. His comics are incredibly gorey, have a discussion about a world gone wrong that can only be changed using force and weaponry (the whole Dark Knight "I am a surgeon" monologue for example), and the fact that he has Fascism as the main point of nearly all of the comics he's written... it doesn't sit right with me and it's a consistent pattern.

Now, onto the bad writing. I must firstly preface that these are my own opinions and that I didn't grow up reading Frank Miller's work. I think he was a good writer but isn't one anymore. His writing did incredible things for DC and you can see his influence in Batman even today. Works I've read and enjoyed of his are: Daredevil, Batman Year One, and Dark Knight. Nowadays you'll see many folks like myself talk about how Frank Miller has fallen off the deep end. A vast majority of Frank Miller's comics have reoccurring themes: politics, fascism, extreme violence, and so so much weaponry. Politics is in every comic book. There is no unpolitical comic, there ARE comics that are batshit wild with their politics and that's what I'm talking about. I'll get back to this later. He wrote many good comics, ones that first come to mind are Daredevil , Wolverine, Batman: Dark Knight, Batman: Year One, Sin City, Ronin, and 300. All of these comics are still credited by folks as amazing comics and hell, I recommend folks to read them go and check them out. Then 9/11 happened. That along with rampant alcoholism. Those reoccurring themes I mentioned? They become exponentially more blatant in his works. Especially on the political angle. You can see the difference between his works from pre and post 9/11. If you read Dark Knight and Dark Knight 2 back to back. It's night and day. He even made a comic during the post 9/11 panic called Holy Terror. The comic's title was originally pitched as Holy Terror, Batman! with the Gotham hero himself as the main character but it swiftly denied by DC, denied being published by DC, and changed to what it is now. The basic plot of this comic: A Vigilante named The Fixer fights Al-Qaeda after attacking Empire City. He doesn't even mention the word Al-Qaeda until 80 pages into a 150 page comic. The comic is some INCREDIBLY blatant post 9/11 propaganda that's ridiculously Islamophobic and anti-muslim. That isn't even my opinion, Frank Miller has said that's what this comic was. It is scattered with a ridiculous amount of hate speech written by a hate fueled man in 2007. Now onto comics that you'd more likely read. All Star Batman and Robin (2005). Oh boy. Let's compare shall we? Batman Dark Knight Returns (1986)

I don't even think I need to explain myself. This is Spider-Man: One More Day levels of mischaracterization. Like seriously. Bruce kidnapping Dick after his parents were killed? Calling him a retard and hitting him during the aftermath (we can go on about how in 2005, the r slur was used commonly but this was just out of pocket), Leaving him in the cold batcave and told to eat rats? Frank Miller used to write some incredible works. Nowadays his writing is as decent as Rob Liefeld's art.

When I re-joined the Marauders fandom around a year ago, I was coming across lots of people complaining how toxic this fandom has become.

I didn't quite understand what they meant back then as I haven't been active in the fandom for a long time (completely missed the ATYD era and most huge changes and things, didn't know how most ships came into existence still don't but I'm afraid to ask plus I'm already on board ig and also too many characters that were barely mentioned when I was in the fandom) so I couldn't decide what made it "toxic".

For the longest time I assumed it was people insisting on their ships and headcanons and throwing hate on people who shipped different things (God forbid people liking Harry's parents as a thing instead of making them both queer and into other people) and I suppose that's truly what most people view as "toxic" to this day but lately I genuinely saw the real toxicity of the fandom.

It's people's approach towards the people that create any content for the fandom. That's the truly toxic thing.

Is it normal that writers have to put a thousand warnings on their fics or even delete them from stop people from binding them and trying to sell them?

Or artists having to constantly report people reposting their works without proper credits?

Or cosplayers having to explain themselves to "fans" accusing them of... cosplaying?? And daring to have a personality and content outside the character(s) they cosplay?

The whole point of the fandom is that things are made from FANS for other FANS. The things people write/draw/edit/cosplay, they do because they genuinely like these characters and this world, and because they know others do too, and would enjoy the way they express their ideas of said things. And they all do it for FREE too.

If people want to support them, they can do it the proper way, spreading the popularity of these creators by sharing their work and giving credits. There is absolutely no reason to spread around someone's work, especially for money, when it's out there and perfectly available for FREE. It's wrong and even if the intentions are good which I doubt, there is this thing called copyright and it can cause harm to those creators because the characters aren't original. (What's worse, when people sell fics, they actually "give credits" and put down the writers' names/urls.)

And if they don't like them for some reason, they're free to just not engage because nobody is shoving it in their faces by force. Blogs, tiktok accounts, tags, etc can be BLOCKED. If you don't enjoy someone's content, just leave them alone and don't go around yapping and throwing hate at them. It's simple as that. (Unless there is a valid reason to cancel someone and there usually isn't any except for people simply not liking them for one reason or another.)

Being in a fandom means that there will be things that you'll be on board with and then some you wouldn't be but don't forget the creators aren't doing it to offend anyone, they're expressing themselves like everyone else does by discussing or creating their own stuff. If it's not your cup of tea, go drink some cold water.

In any case, people shouldn't forget that anyone that creates any type of content:

1) is doing it for free, by their own free will, in their own free time.

2) is a normal human being. They're not the character(s) they create stuff about. They have their own struggles and difficulties they face in their life but still find the time to create these things you enjoy.

3) is not obliged to interact with/do commissions for people just because they're trying to abuse them into it by constantly sending asks and messages.

4) has privacy. Nobody wants people trying to probe into their life just because they are known among some community. Same goes for actual actors/artist, writers. Being famous doesn't erase the right to have something your fans aren't privy to.

5) has boundaries that shouldn't be crossed, and things they are okay/not okay with that should be taken into consideration.

I genuinely find it a bit fascinating how people decided to take away these characters and modify them so much as one big FU to the original author due to her toxic behaviour, yet they manage to create a toxic environment for others too.

P.S.: Please do not engage with this post if you'll be making any claims that any creator that has decided to make their work public is obliged to stand and take hate, mistreatment, etc. There is a not-so-thin line between constructive criticism, and spreading hate and being mean and disrespectful.

You know what's been amusing (horrifying) me about all this AI stuff lately is just how wrong it all is? Which, if it was all just wrong, it would be a funny failed experiment. But it's even worse. On the surface it gets just enough right to lend it some false sort of legitimacy, but I have never once seen any AI answer a question where it gets everything right. There is always one big error or many big errors. And it's one of the scariest things about AI produced "knowledge" because there is nothing here that tells us about it's certainty of the various "facts" it is providing. These answers put solid facts right next to complete misinformation. It places information from peer-reviewed sources right next to internet rumor and group-think conspiracy theories. So what skills do we, the average reading and knowledge seeker, need to be able to engage with technology like this in a way that can counter this harm? Especially because I know this sort of thing isn't going to go anywhere? I'm pretty sure it's here to stay.

Like, let's be real. I couldn't give less of a crap that google bard clearly has no idea what my fic is about. That's not the point. My ego will survive perfectly fine. But what if people start turning to AI for real knowledge that will influence and form truths for people around real issues in the world? What happens if these sites are where people go for knowledge?

Let's look at some silly examples that we can easily fact check, just to get a sense of how wrong all this stuff can be.

I went to chatgpt and asked it "tell me about the fanfiction author Annerb". This is what it spewed out:

It's like that old game two truths and a lie here. Or more like one truth and ten lies and five misunderstandings. Or how about this one. I asked it "What is wangxian?" (one of my latest otps.)

First two paragraphs? Not so bad. Pretty accurate for the most part. That third paragraph? Really fascinating that it's even there and also completely factually incorrect. While the live-action tv show never explicitly states that it is a romantic relationship thanks to censorship, the original novel includes multiple explicit sex scenes between the two characters and they also end up married? Like, actually married? So why is this "important to note"? Why does the so-called "legitimacy" of the ship even factor in? Is this just a scraped up reflection of discourse? Or at worst, a reflection of larger biases reflected in internet "knowledge"?

I know you probably sent me that screencap just as a fun mention of my fic popping up somewhere, for which I thank you. It was nice of you to think of me.

At the same time, these are the things I just can't help thinking about as truth becomes even harder to see day by day. Walk carefully, my friends.

Long story short, we tried to spread the animation studio switch letter Sarah posted. I speedran to Xiaohongshu (LittleRedBook/RedBook/RED); Instagram equal for China cause thought no one else would do it. This was before we found out the rest of the crew would send their regards as well.

Idk Mandarin at all so would appreciate any help. Literally just dumped everything into Google Translate.

Priority is everything in the 1st image. 2nd pic is just explanations I wrote for them in case they don't know, which idk how much they know about Flying Bark besides the fact that they thought their animation was awesome. Sometimes they share the storyboards on Bilibili/Weibo but that's about it.

Much like how we had the wildfire and death threats on Twitter except I think not as extreme to the point of sending death threats... thankfully. They didn't know about the studio change. Honestly, just trying to give them facts and reminding them they have part of the power to get the show cancelled or not; but also not telling them what to like or not like/stop grieving/etc.

Literally one of the RedBook comments on the S5 trailer LEGO China uploaded contains the picture from my post (cause I added disclaimer that it's not lego official translated). I've seen you mention that you're studying graphic design and for some reason I had it in my head that you studied English or followed a writing course. I think it's because your writing and your style always makes me feel like I'm reading a published novel. Hardcover honey. First off, THANK YOU SO MUCH for the reading and all of the love. I literally can't think about people reading and liking my work too much or else I will start crying. It means SO much to me.

Yes! I am currently getting my BS in Graphic Design, but I do have an AA in Liberal Studies and a second AA in discretional honors from when I thought I wanted to be a nurse, got into the honors program at my community college, and got all the way through nursing school before I decided I wanted to be an artist!

I am self-taught! Writing has always just kind of been something that comes naturally, but that isn't to say that I haven't had a ton of practice working on this website. When I read back through some of my stuff from my Wattpad days and read back through some of my stuff even from a year ago on here, I am so surprised to see how much and how quickly I was able to grow as a writer when I didn't see that kind of growth on any other platform I've ever written for. A big part of this can be credited to @dr-aculaaa in our little writer's room. Her work pushed me to be the greatest writer I can be and Drac is always my go-to!

I think the first time I ever got recognition for my writing was in the 7th grade, and I just didn't stop! I was a weird kid and really insecure with myself so when I was good at something like writing or art, I tried to capitalize on it and milk it for all it was worth because I thought it would make people like me, but, as an adult, I write largely for myself now. My great granddad was a published author and he wrote westerns! I didn't know this until after I wrote Cochise!

I also had a couple of really great teachers and some really great college courses that I think helped me out quite a bit. My middle school english teacher (who I still talk to!) really encouraged me to continue working with writing and art. I was also his TA for four years so he was able to fuel my flame for reading, writing, art, and music! He is also part of the reason why I became a teacher and I can only dream of being half the teacher he is.

In college, I took a couple of really cool electives, Theatre History, Witchcraft and Heresy in Europe, Art History, and The Politics of Punk to name a few. It really helped me expand my worldview and fueled my love of writing because writing is also largely a reading and researching process for me!

As far as my actual writing process, I write about the things that make me happy and largely, I write about myself and my own experiences. In reality, my cochise universe is a culmination for my love of Tombstone, my love for my desert home, my passion for westerns, and the fact that I was watching a LOT of yellowstone at that time. Just like Stone Gothic came out right after that class on Witchcraft and when Drac was talking to me about monsterfucking lol! I write about the things I've seen and the things I've stored in my brain. I think the reason it takes me so long to get anything out is because, when I feel like getting really descriptive and getting in the zone, I pretend I'm standing there with a macrolense and think about what I'm seeing or feeling, how someone else can be feeling that, and how I've felt when something similar happens. I also think about how I've read about how other characters feel in similar events!

My love for writing also ultimately comes from my love of reading, if you scroll down a little on my page I have a couple of lists of books that have really inspired me! When I see prose I like I try to write like that, and its always going to come out in my own way- which I have learned to be okay with.

Ultimately, my entire relationship with writing is this weird pieced-together mosiac of learning how to deal with myself and my life experiences, catharsis, my desperate need to be creating something, my love for reading and learning, and also my constant craving for validation and praise.

Pft, well, right now, it's a story called Reflections that I never finished writing. XD I left it off on a really uhhhhh... horrible cliffhanger... and haven't updated since... >_> But yeah, as a general rule, I don't do angsty endings. No matter what I put a character through, they're getting out in the end.

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Absolutely The Nearness of You. Lol, the entire goal of that fic was to be like... the anti-angst. XD The DBH fandom really loves going dark and I was deliberately setting out to write something happy to try and counteract it all, omg. Not that it doesn't have a few serious moments to it of course but, overall, it just a light, fluffy romcom with (I think) a pretty funny ending, so yeah. XD

Do you get hate on fics?

Not for my fics in particular, per se, but I've had some run-ins with folks who don't like the ships I write for... Which isn't fun. >_>

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Nah, no smut for me. Tbh, even writing kissing makes me squirm, I am so ace. XD I think I would implode if I even tried, wow.

I've... dabbled. Nothing I've ever published or anything, but I've had a lot of crossover ideas and stuff? And I've attempted to write a few, but nothing that ever got even close to finished, lol. Crossovers are fun to think about though. XD

Not a fic, no, but an idea? Uh, I used to get very elaborate with my prompts, with a lot of detail and stuff. Basically like mini outlines. (See my pinned message on my blog if you're curious, I have a whole list of them up there. XD) But yeah, one of them I shared with a former friend who I ended up having a huge falling out with. Well, they eventually wrote and published the idea awhile after we stopped being friends and like... fine, that's alright and all, but it sure would've been nice to get some credit for it... I don't care that they used it, only that any association with me is completely absent from the fic. :/

Ugh, geez, I don't know? Uh... I think I'm good at... description? Or like, setting the scene? I've also gotten a few compliments on my action scenes before, too, which I was kinda blown away by cuz I didn't think they were anything special, lol! But... yeah, maybe those?

What are your writing weaknesses?

Lololololololol, how about actually writing?!?!?! 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 It'd be grand if I could actually do it, omggggggggggg!!!!!!!!!!

No, but other than that... I think I tend to rush? I get so fatigued by the idea of stretching something out too long so I think I tend to just cut right to the chase in my fics. I don't much like to meander or get sidetracked with B plots or anything. My fics are... compact, let's say. 😅

I also feel like my characterization can really veer off sometimes. I feel like sometimes I default to idealized versions of the characters I write instead of writing them as they actually are.

I make a lot of typos and stupid grammar mistakes and, despite me obsessively editing everything I write before posting, it seems like a lot of them still make it through. 😫

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I have... used little snippets of language in some of my fics before? But the kicker is that I found someone who actually speaks that language and asked them to help me with that, so idk, is that cheating? XD

I myself and a filthy monolingual, so I couldn't write a full-on fic in a different language or anything. But some phrases thrown in here or there for color/emphasis/character building? Yeah, I could probably do that.

First fandom you wrote for?

Oh, this is a loaded question, lol! So, first fandom I ever published a fic for was DBH back in 2019. But you'd be a fool to think that was my first attempt. XD Honestly? I think my first try was like a Suikoden fic back in... Idk, '99 or 2000? I was a child and it sucked hardcore, but y'know. XD I'm so glad my anxiety didn't prompt me to publish anything I wrote thought, omggggg. The mountain of garbage I would be sitting atop now if I did... XD

Favourite fic you've ever written?

Ah, man, it's The Lark Ascending. Without a doubt. That fic... It's both the longest thing I've ever written and the most personal. I drew from a lot of my own experiences when writing it and it helped me process some of the shit I was going through at the time and I just think it turned out... really nice. I went back and reread it not too long ago and I just... I adore it.

It's also one of the most accessible fics I've written, if anyone is curious? The whole concept of it centers around the characters as elemental spirits and I use no canon names or places or anything through the entire main story. It's the only thing I've done that's tagged with both the fandom that inspired it, but also Original Work. Because yeah, it basically is a completely original novel tbh.

The downside of it being super accessible is that it didn't really catch on in the fandom it was tagged for (DBH). It is still to the day one of my sadder failures, just because I put *so much* of myself into it? And I truly believe it has my best writing out of everything I've done, too. I went super stylized and almost poetic with it and I really tried to modulate how I wrote to match the elements of the characters I was portraying. Honestly, I'm so proud of it and I just really wish it had had a better reception than it garnered, but oh well. What's done is done.

I made a Wattpad!! And I need help with it!!

I decided to write a new original story for the first time in forever and also decided maybe Wattpad would help me actually finish it? So far all I have is a plot/world notes and a written-in-a-day prologue. Even if you're not a writer and just interested in the premise/story, I want to know your thoughts!!

The Story

As a fanfiction writer by "trade" it's heavily inspired by Loki (plot) and Stranger Things/Steddie (characters) but it should, by completion, be able to stand completely on its own. I have more details in Part 1 but the basic summary is below

Summary: A detective is tasked with a case that he refuses to admit is above his head. Five years ago, the princess was killed tragically. That is she's suddenly been spotted causing mischief everywhere she goes. Enter her brother: a prince both uninterested in his role and disliked among his people. He's arrested for murder, a crime he says he didn't commit, and the detective decides to make a deal: Help find his missing sister, and all charges will be dropped. Along the way, they unravel a thread of conspiracy that creates more questions than it answers. But it helps that this prince is much more charming than anyone gives him credit for.

Other Notes: The setting is 1800s-based fantasy realm (races inspired by DND) but the main character is human. Also this will be an MLM story with one of the men being bisexual, with room for more diversity with other characters.

Specific help needed:

1) Boost engagement. Right now, beyond just getting words on the page, I need help navigating Wattpad. I created the account hoping user engagement would boost my motivation and keep me going. So any advice on how to boost engagement, views, followers, etc basically.

2) Ideas for alternate names or at least a naming convention. At the moment I am using Stranger Things character names, irl place names, and DND race names as fillers. I'm terrible with names and titles so any ideas will help greatly

3) The usual beta assistance, particularly with a publishing focus. The ultimate goal would be to get published. With industry and this generally being a hobby for me, that's not necessarily going to happen but it has been a dream of mine since I was 8. So basic grammar structure isn't my focus here. I need high quality story-crafting advice that helps me look good to publishers

4) Diversity expansion and sensitivity reading. Diversity is super important to me. This is a queer romance set in a fantasy setting but that doesn't mean I can't address equality issues. The main character starts as a detective but eventually leaves law enforcement and in fact actively destroys the current system as part of the main plot. His love interest is a prince who already doesn't like the monarchy but has to face some stuff that makes him think more about that. There's definitely a lot of stuff to cover and I want to make sure I'm addressing it meaningfully.

Final note

This is all written kind of robotically but honestly the subtext is I'm just trying to cultivate a community of friends who are either interested in the story or just writing generally. I've written a lot of (unfinished) original works but I think if I had that community cheering me along and generally being supportive all around I'd be much more motivated to try publishing for the first time. Why do you think I have so many fics on AO3? Anyway, I would super appreciate any help anyone can offer!

Big rant about my Capsule Zaurus stuff below. Mostly about fanworks, copyright, concept art, and how I use copyrighted material in my stuff.

Before I start the rant- I want to mention that I put a lot of links in here. A few go to my artwork. But most provide extra info and clarification. Some of it is because Capsule Zaurus is a pretty overlooked prototype to Digimon, so not all Digi-fans know what it is. Some of it is because I have been in fandom a long time and I lost track of when people stopped using squick and I don't know what the kids use these days. Feel free to click a link if you're confused about anything.

I want to return to my Capsule Zaurus project because Tomoya (the character in the header) is doing that "character wants attention and occupies your thoughts" thing. I really don't want to focus on fanfic right now (mostly because I'm drowning in WIPs). But I don't know if the project counts as original fic, or to what extent.

For the uninitiated, here is a brief timeline of Capsule Zaurus from conception to today.

Bandai draws concept art for a virtual pet game for boys in 1997

Doesn't use it because it's too similar to Pokemon

Puts it in a drawer

Does NOTHING until 2013

Puts it in an artbook

NEVER mentions it again

Fandom posts translations and then sleeps (you can read all the info in the first two links)

I learn about it almost a year ago at an anime con and get inspired

I draw all this stuff- including some redesigns, but also original Zaurus and human characters

I come up with this batshit insane plot and world to go with the concept art

I find myself in a tangle of mostly original ideas, with vestigial but clear connections to Bandai's work

I'm not sure if it should just go to Ao3 or if I should rework my elements and characters into something else

Bandai's Capsule Zaurus isn't a finalized work. It is concept art. I'm a raccoon digging through the trash and taking things Bandai doesn't even want. But chances are they still hold the copyright for it. Not to mention the name likely comes from Pocket Zaurus, which is published and certainly copyrighted.

Putting the work on Ao3 would be extremely tricky, too. It would have to be tagged as Capsule Zaurus- which is not a fandom at the moment- plus Digimon, plus Original Work. This obtuse collection of fandom tags would likely be confusing, and I doubt anyone would read it.

It doesn't help that the story is T at mildest and M at highest. I don't write E-rated content. But that's what people want over there. I've noticed some authors who write both get a lot more hits on their sexy stuff over their tame or gen work, and good gen writers often go ignored.

So if I don't want my story to rot on Ao3, I'd probably have to remove the Zaurus characters entirely and make it original. This seems counterproductive. But it's the more likely route I'd go to preserve my original stuff. I don't want to do that, since I love Digimon and I like the "what could have been" nature of the concept art. But I really hate filing the serial numbers off of shit without acknowledging it as parody/mentioning the creators which...this isn't.

Below are two examples of me acknowledging parody and playing with copyright. Keep in mind I cut my teeth on 2007-era fanfiction, so people were constantly writing "I do not own this" on their shit.

For my Toon-iverse Saga, I have a Character Who's a Lot Like Tai (Soren, actually- it's more obvious in his backstory). But the back of the book credits Bandai/Toei/everyone I can possibly think of. The books are made of characters like this, and calls back to the source material while doing something unique. You don't need to know the original material to understand the plot, though doing so helps if you're looking for Easter Eggs.

Then, there's Zunru, which is a love letter to and critique of Pokemon. You don't need an in-depth knowledge of Pokemon to understand it (though as with the Toon-iverse Saga, it helps with Easter Egg hunting). The first few chapters even seem like "we live in harmony with these wonderful creatures!". But then the charade falls away, and the story reveals itself to be its own animal. At the end of each of these books, there is a credit to "Satoshi Tajiri, GameFreak, and Associated Parties", indicating that this is parody, I acknowledge the original but this is my own thing, etc., etc. Which is more than Temtem/Palworld did, but that's another story.

These are both instance of fair use, with possibly too much butt-covering spurred on by my fanfiction dot net heritage. They aren't like, say, writing a Twilight fanfiction, changing only the names, publishing it, and deleting the evidence. Which I feel trying to publish Capsule Zaurus as it is right now is pretty close to.

I just don't know what to do for Capsule Zaurus. I don't want to focus on fanfiction right now. But Tomoya is screaming against my skull and banging pots and pans. I'm sure I'll find the solution. It might be as simple as changing a few designs a bit more to make them more unique and not using the word "Zaurus". But that's still filing off the serial numbers.

🎀-give yourself a compliment about your own writing

There's a post that I've seen plenty times before that I think about all the time that goes something along the lines of "I'm having creative ideas above my skill level!" or something like that, for when you have a great idea but just don't know how to execute it the way you want. I legitimately feel where I am at a point where that isn't an issue for me with my writing? I think most ideas I can execute within the general sphere of what I want them to be; I might not always like them, and they might not always be what I consider "good," but they are comparable to the original idea.

🎈-describe your style as a writer; is it fixed? does it change?

It tends to change based on the type of thing I'm writing. And how much sleep I get. I like a lot of shorter sentences, followed by one long rambling one for most kinds of prose, since most of my prose is an ooo ouch my bones type of prose. It does change all the time though, so that might be different in a few months. It certainly wasn't what I preferred until like, August.

💞-what's the most important part of a story for you? the plot, the characters, the worldbuilding, the technical stuff (grammar etc), the figurative language

hm. augh. mm. thats a toughy! I'm going to say worldbuilding, because I often find myself more interested in the worldbuilding that the Actual Story I'm Trying To Write (its why a 30k first draft of a novel is fitting, completely unfinished, in my google drive. The current guys suck. I want the old ones. But the old ones only work as history for the new guys. Its sad.)

💥-find your least kudos'd fic - say something wonderful about it.

I'm ngl I completely thought it was gun safe but First Concert! It's a pretty short one, but it does what I sought out to accomplish; combine Dora and Ember's interests in a way that illustrates their differences but also shows that they're much more similar than you'd think.

I have literally never put thought into that ever. If I had to choose, probably All In The Name Of Love or Strength of the Past And Weights of The Present, mostly because they're my favorites.

Chapter 2 Of Cover Blown: I love pitch pearl man, I really do, and with what I'm planning for this one I think it is going to be about as good as my pitch pearl can get (Dreamwalker excluded dw). I love putting guys in situations, especially when those situations involve bad injuries and babbled confessions.

Speaking of Dreamwalker, I'll add this here too, because while you might know a lot, I always have more. I love how I'm writing the ghosts, just across the board. They are all pieces of shit in the Funniest Way, especially since Danny is a whole ass child right now. You're scheming about a nine year old babes, calm down. He hasn't even lost all his baby teeth yet.

As for the last one, I'm going to put it under a read more. TW for bugs and Danny rotting, but its ok he's fine with it.

Bug Boi (title to be changed later) has been shelved indefinitely for. Many reasons! I have. So much to write. Bug Boi is, for those who do not know. Where I put as many bugs into the boy as possible. He loses organ privileges and instead becomes the landlord for a hoard of different bugs. He loves them, and they love him, and when they die (as bugs often do) they give him their little bug souls as a thank you so he because More Bug.

Anyway, I recently learned about the scorpion fly, who looks like this:

It is so cool, and has recently (idk how recently) been seen in forensic entomology, meaning that I can put these fuckers into Danny's eye sockets or esophagus or wherever else and be. First off! Wow congratulations! Look at what you have accomplished. How do you feel?

Shire is over and what an ending/epilogue/whatever. Oh my gourd. It was great. I am so excited to see what Mordor brings because just from that ending, it looks like you're taking it in a new direction and I *chefs kiss* CANNOT WAIT for this rollercoaster ride. (Even if it is not, I don't care. Because I know it's gonna be the drama.)

Some of my favorite things, which (since I was a late finding your fit itself) I have never mentioned before: - Dennys. Oh my god, the inclusion of Denny's. It isn't a local diner, it isn't Bennys, it is the cursed restaurant that most of us in the states love and rely on in the most beautiful or desperate of times. I love it. I love you. - Robin and Willow just being BFFLs. Because it felt so real. All of it. Like I could transpose myself and my irl best friend and yeah, it all checked out. And just...the further development of Robin's character as a best friend, because in the show we really sort of get crumbs too. I loved it. - Willow's familial relationships/trauma/guilt and then healing, specifically within herself but also in relation with her mom. I don't think I need to elaborate, but it gets my butt clenching in the most emotional way ok? (I am like a puppy who gets the wiggles) -And then of course the Eddie of it all. Not once did he feel out of character, he was perfect, I fell in love with his character even more while reading how you wrote him. I think we all have "our Eddie" who we are writing, but yours is so fleshed out and gorgeous. UGH.

those are definitely some of my favorite things too oh my gosh (if i was on my phone you'd be getting the simpy emoji i overuse). i started writing/brainstorming this fic in denny's, and once i realized that benny's was one letter off? c'moooon. i couldn't help myself. gotta pay homage to our roots some how (i will forever miss the crew who used to let me and audrey sit around until 2 am and allowed us to claim a booth as our own as we consumed more coffee than any human beings ever should. i hope they're doing well </3). and speaking of audrey, i based a lot of robin and willow's friendship on ours, so i'm giving her so much credit. for those of you who don't know who i'm referencing, i'm talking about my irl best friend. she listened to me rant about this fic like a maniac until i put pen to paper technically fingers to keyboard, and was my og reader for this story. she saw every version, every deleted chapter and every stupid idea i randomly had at 3 am. she's my own personal robin, and i love her so damn much. even more than i love our canon robin buckley, which is a fuck ton. she was the og comfort character before eddie. gotta put some respect on her name.

i love, love, love the fact that there is so many versions of eddie out there, and every time people tell me how i wrote him is in fact very in character, my heart swells three sizes bigger. i know i've fallen in love with that boy 200 times over with the incredibly talented writers on here, with versions of him as a mechanic, as a single dad, as a record store worker, as a swinger, as a rockstar - you get the point. the fact that y'all still find room to love 'my' eddie leaves me in awe and just. gosh. thank you. cheers to our eddies and the way we all love every version of this boy, in every universe! the story and background may shift, but the core boy who stole our hearts in season 4 remains, and i think there's something poetic to be said about that (not by me, but i know it's there.)

🥺 Is there a certain type of moment or common interaction between your characters that never fails to put you in your feels?

Honestly, I’m not sure? I do tend to gravitate towards certain themes. I love writing sickfics, hurt/comfort, whump, etc. There’s something about two people putting aside everything to help each other that just gets me right in the feels. 

😅 What's a story or scene you've created that you're a smidge embarrassed exists?

Okay. Alright. Sit down motherfuckers. I'm gonna tell you a quick story.

Fun fact about me: I like to include names of my loved ones as minor/throwaway characters in my writing. For example, I need a name for some random cashier or whatever, so I name him after a friend. Y'know, as a shoutout to that friend.

Well. In A Parade of Indignities, there's a scene where Dib is reminiscing over his mother's grave. He has no mother in canon, so I had to invent a character and give her a first name.

I named her after my mother.

It wasn't meant to be anything other than a little shoutout to my very sweet mom. I had no experience with parent death and didn't see this detail as anything but an easter egg.

Well, less than a year later, I did get experience with a parent dying. Really suddenly dying.

I read back through Parade some months later and got to that part. Words cannot express the emotions that went through me. Really, I can't even say what those emotions were. Shame for writing something so serious in the first place without really knowing the fallout of losing a parent? Embarrassment for adding such a dark "easter egg"? All I can say is that I immediately slammed that "edit" button and changed the name of Dib's dead mother to a different, more generic name with no personal connections to me.

💖 What made you start writing?

My mom and dad! They were/are amazing writers and always encouraged me.

My second grade teacher also ignited my enthusiasm for writing. I remember her calling me to her desk multiple times just to tell me how wonderful and descriptive my little stories and book reports were. She even invited my parents in one time to teach the class about writing. 

I was incredibly lucky to have people in my life at that young age who could nurture my interests. It kept me going and I improved as a writer because of it. I credit my continued improvement to the people who have been in my corner to support me.

🤩 Who is your favorite character to write?

Dib and Gaz are actually really fun to write! They let me get as angsty and sarcastic as I want! 😂

Yup! I'm always listening to music. Usually when I'm writing, I listen to music without lyrics, though. Stuff like lo-fi or deep house. Sometimes smooth jazz.

Yeah! I spend a lot of time researching, actually. I research really obscure things and get frustrated when I can’t find answers. I also tend to go down really useless rabbit holes lol.

Oh, definitely Zim. 

🧠 Pick a character, and I'll tell you my favorite headcanon for them.

Professor Membrane gets so over-the-top concerned for his children when they’re sick, he goes overboard with tests and remedies. Think “Gaz, Taster or Pork,” but for everything Dib and Gaz become afflicted with. Common colds, hay fever, food poisoning, etc. It gets to the point where Dib and Gaz don’t tell him when they’re sick and simply take care of each other while keeping the illness on the down-low. 

I’m actually writing a little fic based around this headcanon and how it puts a strain on their family. 

🤯 What's a genre you struggle with as a writer (ex. romance, action, etc.)?

Definitely romance.

🤲 Would you please share a snippet of a wip?

Sure! Here’s a snippet from something I’m almost done with: 

Dib quietly drifted to his bedside and stared down at him. “Zim…” He had to gather himself before he could repeat the same words he’d asked before. “Tell me who did this to you.”

The words hung in the air between them. Dib’s tone had taken on a quality that, coming from the mouth of any another person, would demand respect. Gone were the petulant, whiny inflections of his youth, and in their place was a certain poise that was easily reminiscent of his own father’s confident speech pattern. Unfortunately, what he had to say often overpowered how he said it. his attempts at persuasion scarcely had any effect on anyone in his life. They certainly never had any effect on Zim. This time, though, he hoped against hope that they would. 

✅ What's something that appears in your fics over and over and over again, even if you don't mean to?

A lot of characters in my fics fall asleep at the drop of a hat in my fics. I find that it’s a good way to end a chapter, but it sure does happen a lot. It’s like an impulse thing to just write a character going to bed at the end of a long, eventful chapter. They get a little sleep. As a treat. 

💥 How do you feel about criticism?

If it's constructive and/or from a good friend, I welcome it. If it's from some rando and more along the lines of "you didn't write this character the way I personally see them," then I'll roll my eyes big time and delete it.

I’ll add, I LOVE constructive criticism for things that I might have gotten factually wrong. One time, back in 2018, a nurse DMed me and let me know that some of what occurred in Chapter 12 of Parade wasn’t super accurate to what an actual nurse or doctor would do. This person spent the next couple days helping me understand certain medical terminology and procedures, which was super helpful. I rewrote that section of the story, and was super happy knowing I wrote it as factually accurate as I could. 

I also love seeing typos pointed out! It’s hard to get everything, even with a beta reader. I guarantee that if you DM me with a typo, I will drop everything and log into AO3 to edit it. 

💔 Is there a fic of yours that broke your heart?

Of mine? God, I don’t know. Anything that involves super deep depression is gonna break my heart. I’m working on something right now that involves a character feeling trapped and hopeless. That’s hard to write when you’re not also writing a concrete happy ending to go along with it.

Second to Last

Nothing is certain. Not one single damn thing. Anything could be changed with the flick of a wrist and a wave of magical abilities, and that was something Eris thrived on. A goddess' pride, a god's grudge,a man's hatred, a woman's beauty, all could be played more perfectly than anyone could ever imagine. Her long, slender finger drew a line down the marble of the temple. She'd finally returned to Olympus, fresh off a flight from the grasp of the Evils she'd been assisting for quite some time. The white of this place differed so greatly from what she'd seen as she lived out her darkest fantasies. Eris wouldn't have been to tell you why she came back, maybe some feeling of guilt crept its way into her heart. But that was only if you believed she had one. The goddess of chaos was feared. But more importantly, that fear gave her a sense of confidence nothing else could. Someone willing to hand over their life rather than see your face haunt their dreams? That's more powerful than any of Zeus's thunderbolts or Poseidon's temper tantrums. But that fear also gave her infamy, something her family didn't really seem to take well to. To say they welcomed her home with open arms would be lying. She was a traitor, she'd be treated as such. Even Ares was ready to turn his back on her, though it was obvious that Zeus had told him of his responsibility to babysit the goddess of discord. Eris stood by his side, as she had many times before. But it wasn't the same. The god beside her hadn't trusted her before, but he knew that she would do what it took to win. Now, he kept glancing down, his eyes meeting the fiery red with disappointment. And while Eris could not blame him, she also was not happy with how she'd been treated on either side of this squabble. He had been a brother in arms, a comrade when the world turned against them. Her only connection to the rest of the high and mighty. She'd done her damage and severed that bond. Those eyes, the ones that had once gazed upon her blood-spattered form with pride and that kind of love only soldiers understood, she saw only rage. It would have been fair to say that they had been the most impulse driven of the gods. Ares was nearly the only person who truly understood what it meant to be the god of dirty work. Not all gods could be praised for bringing rain in droughts or great leadership or protection, or safe and healthy family and business. Someone had to keep the balance. The god of war had seen in the goddess of chaos not the destruction, but the anarchy, the perfect opposite to order, something that was becoming less and less important. She turned her head as his gaze averted. It was like she was either ignored or given a leash, no matter whether she answered to Zeus or Kronos. It wasn't the ideal situation for her, and she truly did drive for greatness. She needed to feel in control, able to pull and push someone to her will. And to take control, sometimes dramatic gestures were in demand. Athena hadn't explicitly told Ares and Eris to leave survivors, and therefore, there had been no mercy. She had only told Ares he needed to stay alive, having the god of war may be an advantage in this war. Eris nodded, taking her apple, and let it shift into a sword, the words "for the bravest," inscribed on the hilt. She slaughtered the Titan's underlings, there were body parts scattered about as Ares ran through behind her. It had always been her job to clear the path. She ducked under the Titan's arm, weaving between limbs with black wings soaked in red. She had this creature nearly distracted as Ares came in for a blow. Eris saw Athena's calculating gaze fall on the two, as she stood back from the blood, figuring out the perfect strategy, as they'd done time after time. The three of them had been an unstoppable force. She raised an eyebrow as Ares, in his showy fashion, took out one of the Titan's lower legs. Falling to its knees, the Titan roared its threats, and Ares turned his back to it, to take a bow for Athena. He probably didn't understand why the goddess of wisdom's hand reached up to cover her mouth. Eris looked at the two of them, smirking madly. It didn't quite match the spear driven from her back through her chest, leaving her bleeding out, staked to the ground. Her wings fell limp as she fell forwards, pushing herself down on the spear. She couldn't help then tears of pain, after all, a Titan had just drove a stick straight through her, but that maniacal smile never seemed to fade, even as the Titan picked up the spear, carrying her away like a goddess kabob before she could watch the shock disappear from Athena and Ares' faces. Nothing was more important to Eris than everyone around her knowing that there was nothing certain in this world. Even a traitor would throw herself down in front of an old comrade. She hadn't been the next to die. She'd watched silently and seemingly,emotionlessly, as she watched the Evils pick off every last one of the gods. She hung by her wings, before they had eventually been taken from her. Hermes had ran. She didn't have that option. She had to get out. She couldn't even have won at losing. _________________________________________ While she thought that it had been the end, Eris was terribly wrong. This was worse than dying, as she had been awakened time after time. One particular time, she was a black haired beauty in the American colonies. They called her Victoria. She had been raised a blacksmith's daughter, but she wanted to fight. There was nothing Victoria wanted more than to shove her heeled boot all the way up one of those redcoats' asses. The British had taken everything they loved and either taxed to the point where the tax was worth more than the product, or taken it away. Privacy, freedom, even a young girl's innocence in exchange for less taxes on things they desperately needed. There were other revolutionaries among this Virginia colony, like Anna, the girl who taught the slaves to read, or that...Alfred.. fellow. He had gone up to Boston to speak against the oppression of Americans. She'd heard stories of others, like Arthur, the British naval officer who'd turned his back on the queen and now was leading the Revolutionary effort from the sea. Even of those noblemen and women, like Hannah, the heir to quite a large English fortune, who gave that money to her revolutionary stepbrother. It was only after Victoria had stolen a uniform and cut her long black locks above her shoulders that she had found her way into battle. She took her makeshift gun, previously used only for shooting the sick horses and the fattest pigs, and became a legend among her fellow soldiers. She took no prisoner, she held no peace over night or holiday. She'd fight until they got what they deserved. It seemed wherever she traveled, disaster and massacre followed. Victoria died not knowing the truth. She had been a week out from being stationed on Arthur's own ship, something that may have clued her in. Arthur had drowned in a shipwreck a few days before. Instead, she returned to battle, and was killed in action defending her own commander, Oliver, someone she'd grown close enough with that he'd known her secret and let her remain, so long as she keep the secret that he had been sleeping with the general's wife. She agreed, but as they say, two can keep a secret if one of them is dead. Infection spread quickly as the bullet holes never were treated on a battlefield plagued by disease. She woke up, still holding her blackened wounds, to a room of people. Arthur stood across the room next to Anna, whispering something in her ear. Realization really didn't settle in until they began talking about that she was not the last. One more. And they were forced to wait and watch as the English commander they would've called Hermes in another life was hunted down. It always seemed like an accident. But nothing was certain. He stayed alive much longer than the others had bet he would. ___________________________________________ It felt as though she blinked and suddenly there she was. Another face, another name, another life, another war. She sometimes heard stories of the various heros who fell in battle and would be missed dearly. She never was able to make that connection. This repeated many times, an era that she lived and died in wars, but never quite last. She always held on...but never quite long enough. Always second to last. Closest she had come would have been as Rachel. She had found herself living and thriving, a strange cycle of happiness. There really had been a sense of irony in fate, as she had been able to finally connect to the people she'd been cursed to forget over and over again. This was also the first time she'd found herself waking up with scar marks dabbled on her skin. She couldn't find an explanation, but instead, found a group of misfits that she thought would be where she finally felt at home. To say Rachel had been a troubled soul would be an understatement. She'd been in and out of prison 4 times since her 15th birthday, and admitted to the mental hospital twice for reckless endangerment of herself. She spoke to a therapist every other day, and her therapist wrote research papers on this kind of fucked up she'd never seen before. Rachel kept to herself and yet everything she touched seemed to go up in flames, or rather, down after the flames completely destroyed whatever had been standing. And she would watch with a smile. It seemed that the further Eris got from herself, the more sick her mind became. It was a mindless game to Rachel, the fact that she'd lost her conscience. She bowed to no man or woman and definitely not some kids who may or may not have been gods. She ran as fast as she could in the opposite direction as soon as they'd figured out they were being chased. She hopped on the next flight to Europe, leaving the rest for dead. She may have been more triggered to leave after she heard Michael had been shot four times in the head. She'd picked a rotting hotel, sure, but it was the only one that took cash. And the only one with a semi-balcony cost her twice her own worth. She was on the eighth floor, the top floor. There were roaches on the walls and in the cracks and in the bed but she knew she didn't have much time. She felt him. This wasn't a game anymore. The word Traitor flashed in her head as she realized the gods weren't the only ones Eris had turned her back on. There was a fire escape ladder out on the balcony, which she noticed as she went out to get air. She climbed, trying to find her way to the roof to see as much of Paris as she could before it was too late. She stood up on a roof that probably could've collapsed had she not been under 130 pounds, and looked out at the city, the lights reflecting in russet brown eyes that just kept getting further from that fiery red so recognizable to the others. Rachel heard a voice behind her, and she jumped. She never realized it had been the janitor telling her to come down off the ledge. If she was a goddess, really, where were her wings? The ones she always dreamed of? They were nowhere to be found as she landed on the pavement below, unable to move as she felt the life drain from her. She woke up to familiar eyes. She had no words for them, not even Jesse, who still lived. Her eyes shone with realization as she found herself standing near other mangled figures. She'd ran, yet again. And still, she wasn't last. She'd never get that sympathy.

I wasn't planning on talking about this, but ever since the trailer and the summery of episode 1 came out certain people have gone into overdrive. Pretty much all the same stuff they always say. "Hope should just dump Landon, he doesn't deserve her love and devotion" 😑😑😑 and "They made Hopes whole story just be about a boy. Why does Landon/Handon get so much screen time over all the other characters?" Etc etc.

Okay look Landon is the only one who's actaully earned Hopes love and devotion. Everyone else just acts as if they're entitled to it. With how they always treat her(very unpopular opinion I know but it's true).

Hopes story has never been all about Landon. It's always been about saving everyone else, doing what's best for everyone. Even if it means sacrificing herself and what she wants/what makes her happy. Season 3 was the first season she actively put herself and what she wants first(and even then she still was doing what was best for everyone else at times). And a part of that just so happens to be Landon because she loves him and he's the one who makes her the most happy. And in 3x05 when Hope was in the therapy box was a whole give a way. That she's just tried and done always putting herself last and sacrificing what she loves(ie Landon and what else she just doesn't want to sacrifice anymore) just to save everyone else. And I honestly don't blame her for some of the things she did in s3, not excusing what she did not at all. But at the same time I don't blame her.

Now what I'm about to say might upset some people but there's two reason why Landon/Handon gets so much screen time is bc 1. Landon is a lead and at the very core of legacies is Handons story, so of course they'll be getting more screen time. And I think 3x16 was trying to drive that home of a lot of people. As well as about a 100 other that have been shown/said throughout the show.

2. The other reason why other characters don't get much screen time or even a storyline is bc more often than not is bc the writers/showrunners just don't really care all that much for those characters. One example of that is Rafael. And as much as I love his character, you can just tell the feeling wasn't the same for them. Bc he was gone for must of s2 and when he was around they made him be all about his feelings for Hope. Same thing goes for the twins. You can just tell that they didn't really want to have them in the show in first place(even Juile herself said she didn't want the twins. But things change I guess). Because they've haven't been doing anything with their characters, they've done more with Cleo's character than they have with the twins. I think the most I've seen them do with the twins was the whole dark Josie storyline. The rest of the time their storylines have been about love interests. I'm not sure if I forgot any of their other storylines bc once s3 hit I just kind of stopped paying attention to their storylines(not bc I don't like their characters but bc their stories just kind of just keep going around in circles and I really don't want to watch the same thing over and over again). And idk if in season 4 they're going to start giving the twins and other characters more screen time/ more storylines but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't.

It’s just the same old thing with the antis, can they really not think of anything else to say? But yeah, everything you said. What is it Landon has to do to earn Hope’s love and devotion? You’re so right, he treats Hope far better than any of the other characters do, unpopular opinion or not, that’s the truth. He’s not done anything that’s made him undeserving of her love. And for them to even say that after he went his whole life without being loved is horrible. And I’m so tired of them saying Hope’s storyline revolves around a boy (especially when all most of them want is for her storyline to revolve around Josie), because exactly! They must not be paying attention to the show if they don’t see that Hope’s storyline has always been about her being the hero and saving everyone. Which is why them saying that Landon is all Hope cares about and all she thinks about contradicts her actions throughout the show when she has continuously been there for everyone. And yep, to the point where she has sacrificed her own happiness with Landon for the sake of everyone else. And yes, I loved Hope’s development in s3 because she was finally putting herself and her happiness first. And that didn’t mean that she no longer cared about her friends because, like you said, she was still trying to be there for them and do what was best for them too. And exactly, Landon is the one who makes Hope happy, and I felt so bad for her in the therapy box in 3x05. That really did say it all, you could definitely tell that she’s so tired and just wants to be happy for once. And same with in 3x10, when she said “we can never just be happy,” it never seems to end for her. And I don’t blame her for what she did in s3 either. And you’ve also gotta consider that everyone had pushed her into a position where she was most desperate and left with no other options. Plus she also didn’t even think Lizzie or Josie would be in danger in 3x08, and she believed they could make it until the dark magic started to infect them and then she apologized. But what she did still ultimately ended up saving Landon from the prison world, otherwise they may never have found another way if they hadn’t created a rift.

And very true about screen time for Handon. People still refuse to believe that Landon is the male lead despite Aria’s name appearing right after Danielle’s in the credits and Julie literally saying that they casted Aria to be the leading man of Legacies when he auditioned for TO. Both Hope and Landon are the leads of the show, and yep, their story is the main story, so obviously it’s gonna get more focus. And yes, that’s been made clear throughout the show.

It does seem like the writers don’t care as much about the other characters. And I love Raf too, don’t get me started on the way they treated him. And it’s so weird because it seemed like they had bigger plans for him at the beginning. It took them a while to find Peyton, if I remember right. And I thought he and Landon were gonna be the brothers of the show, it seemed like they were setting up a love triangle of sorts with them and Hope (not that I wanted that), but then, like you said, he was hardly in s2. It’s like they scrapped any plans they had for him and didn’t know what to do with him after s1, even though there was so much potential.

And yeah, same with the twins. But idk if Julie said she didn’t want the twins on the show? I just thought having them on the show, at least as mains, wasn’t always part of the plan. They had always talked about a “Hope spinoff,” no mention of the twins. Julie had said Hope and the twins wouldn’t be friends because of the age gap. And from 5x12 of TO, I’d guess they hadn’t planned on them being mains for Legacies at that point either, otherwise they wouldn’t have made the age gap so obvious. And they had no interactions between Hope and the twins either, yet they made sure to establish a relationship between Hope and Landon in that episode. So I do feel like Handon was always part of the plan and they most likely decided to have the twins be main characters later on. And that really does show because they don’t seem to know what to do with them anymore either. True, they definitely did more with Cleo last season than the twins, and I do feel like the dark Josie storyline was the last real storyline they had. And I agree, their storylines now mostly have to do with love interests, and they do feel repetitive or just like they’re not going anywhere. And people will complain about Handon being repetitive, but look at what they do with the other characters, it’s far worse. Despite there being some repetition with Handon, like with them being separated and being put through horrible things all the time, there’s still development and progression. But with the rest of the characters, I feel like there’s hardly any progression at all. I feel like they’ve even gone backwards with some of the characters as well, especially last season. I actually thought the writing for the twins, and all the characters, was pretty good in s1. I liked all the characters and was interested in their storylines, but now, especially after s3, I’m just not interested anymore. S3 really changed my mind about some of the characters tbh, mostly because of the way they treated Landon and Hope. So idk if they’re gonna give the other characters more screen time or better storylines in s4 either. But honestly, because some of the characters have kinda been ruined for me, I’m not even sure if I’d care much if they did give them more of a storyline. I’m really just watching for Hope and Landon at this point, ngl. But hopefully, for everyone else’s sake, they can do more for the other characters next season that other fans will enjoy.
