Ghosts can retreat to their core when they’re hurt enough. Really, when they’re close to a second death, or in such distress that they risk shattering themselves. They, for lack of better term, hibernate until it’s safe for them reform, and continue on their way. 

Halfas are a little… different. 

See, technically, they can’t die. One half will end up healing or reviving the other. But, they can still retreat to their core. The issue comes from well, the living half, that is, the half still made of flesh and bone. Which unlike ectoplasm, cannot shift and meld at will, and in fact? Most if not all of it is, once more for lack of better term, shed. 

Meaning that halfas, should they retreat to their core emerges with the body noticeably… smaller. 

Now of course they keep their memories, their core would never forget after all, unlike the brain which relied on more… fleshy means. Not that the current halfas were exactly aware of that fact when they instinctively did so in self preservation. They are… not pleased upon their emergence. 

The woman who stole their cores- which were apparently sold as gemstones what the fuck- is… definitely not happy either. And- okay that is not their english, where the fuck did they end up-

I vaugly remember when you first started gracie posting that there was a thing of like "What did the former owners DO to make this cat untouchable for two years when she came around to me in a month?" and it seemed pretty hopeful that she'd become a 'normal' cat and be rehomed. what happened?

I decided to keep her. There's no sob story that goes along with why she didn't get adopted out. She got comfortable, I got attached. It's also way harder to rehome an extremely shy cat than I think people realize. Even in shelters they often spend months or even years waiting for someone to take a chance on them. There's way too many "normal" cats in the world for most people to want to take one that is going to require extra work. Which I'm not saying to shame people, I totally get it. People should choose a pet that fits for them.

yesterday i got jumpscared at work by sudden bunny rescue operation, if anyone has bunny tips beyond the reddit intro threads thatd be deeply appreciated?

we're planning to bring the little guy to a rescue i trust if we end up being unable to provide for him, since finances are tight rnow. but we're gonna be holding onto him for a while either way since the rescue is far away and i want him to be comfortable in the meantime.

or yknow. if we foster fail id like to know some tips directly from people and not just via researching guides and forums, ik some things you only learn from experience

What is your kitty’s name

i have two! My cat is Beetlejuice. She's black and fat and she loves rolling over onto her back and showing off her weird nipples. (she is on a diet but dont tell her that) Can you believe when my roomie and I named her that, I had just a passing interest in the musical? we had her for like two years before I fell down the rabbit hole, here. For what it's worth her name was supposed to be Toast, but at the last minute we decided she was so cute fat squishy silly that she could only be a Beetlejuice. She responds to BJ and Beebleboose. My roommate's cat is Prince Detective Inspector Freckle McMurry. He's white and orange and he does not like me because once when he was a kitten i was holding him and a motorcycle drove down our street and he never forgave me for that. He goes by Freck, Prek, Preka Minky, Detective, Dat Boy, McMurry, McMurry's a Huge Piece of Shit, and Mac. He responds to none of these names, as he's too busy searching for clues to be bothered by the likes of us.
