grandkids of Finwë + what kind of artwork they did as small kids:
Feanorians:
Maedhros: extremely proper drawings with green grass, blue sky, one yellow tree and one white tree. Elves with the right numbers of fingers and toes. Very particular about getting everyone's eye colors right.
Maglor: lots of swirls and bright globs of paint just because, big believer in making everything purple because he likes purple. Suffers Maedhros repeatedly 'correcting' his artwork to be the 'right' colors and shapes. As he gets older he becomes interested in telling a story and often draws comics/sequences. These are kind of rushed; he is more interested in conveying a point than the art itself.
Celegorm: loud scribbles of guys with extremely cool hunting bows wearing really bright outfits. Usually a minimum of two tigers/drawing.
Caranthir: prefers coloring in pictures to drawing his own. Likes subject matters he feels he is 'good' at; flowers, snakes, trees.
Curufin: very into designing and coming up with ideas even as a small child. Likes to both draw on and copy Feanor's work. As he gets older, big into costume design and jewelry diagrams.
Amras: animals animals animals animals. Bright and huge and labelled. Not particularly precise about giving everything the right number of eyes and feet.
Amrod: likes to write his name in Tengwar bubble letters. Also precise about using the 'right' colors. Often draws what he thinks his mom would approve of/praise rather than his own interests; a lot of clay sculptures, drawings of people.
Nolofinweans:
Fingon: his paper is full filled to the brim because he kept thinking of things he wanted to add to the drawing. "What are you working on?" "This is dad and two horses and a very big lizard and eight blooming flowers and half of a lion." Extremely enthusiastic about gifting his art to people. Wants to draw on himself.
Turgon: precise sharp drawings of buildings and carriages. Very advanced for his age in terms of recognizing aspects of architectural design; does not draw people at all until he's the elf equivalent of around 8. Often trades off with Fingon (by then quite a bit older) where he will draw buildings and carriages and then Fingon will add in the people and horses.
Aredhel: draws the bare minimum she might before going to play outside. Eventually gets into drawing buried treasure maps and floral sketches.
Arafinweans:
Finrod: perfectionistic as a child, to the point where he often starts over the same drawing 4x times. Likes to draw flowers, animals, eyes. Often mixed media, and fond of collages. Likes to trace and copy several times before trying things on his own.
Orodreth: draws extremely small in the corner of the page. Makes a lot of little animal and elf characters.
Angrod: Likes to cut and glue. Has Finrod cut out his drawings to make them into puppets and toys. Fond of sticking leaves and book-pages onto his art. Also big on drawing on himself.
Aegnor: really into shapes. He will draw people, animals, etc if he's in the mood but he's most fond of brightly colored triangles and circles. Likes to copy letters; really nice handwriting for his age.
Galadriel: Advanced, as she is with everything. Likes to draw elves out doing different activities; hunting, dancing, playing. Their faces are expressive and a little creepy. Also a fan of everything being the 'right' hue.

what are the main prey animals that Shadowclan eat in better bones? because in my rewrite, i can only find like 5 british marshland birds, the frogs like canon, and a common lizard, while the other clans have dozens of prey species. I don't think 7 prey species can feed 50 cats for the generations i need them to, yknow?
This is hard to find out because of the unfortunate reality that wetlands are an "unpopular" natural biome. It's hell out there. No one appreciates their local swamps and marshes </3
But I'M here, NUMBER 1 GOO FAN. Quickie on some of the most common species ShadowClan will be hunting, in an English wetland. 5 for your convenience.
Small intro/recap to BB!ShadowClan's food culture; For a mixture of several reasons, including early collaboration and trade with WindClan, living in an area heavily affected by seasonal changes, and cultural pride in being able to eat anything, ShadowClan has one of the most varied diets of any Clan. Mammals, fish, birds, if they can get their mouth on it, they will eat it.
(Yes. This means predators as well. Other Clans will avoid eating predators for culture and taste reasons. ShadowClan finds it offensive to just let good meat rot.)
The most important reason in that list must be stressed; winter is CRUEL to ShadowClan. The RiverClan river is a moving source of water which rarely completely ices over, most animals in ThunderClan don't hibernate, WindClan's rabbits are active in the snow. For most Clans, they will not feel the "bite" of winter until towards the end, when the prey populations crash. ShadowClan feels it immediately.
That's a problem because Prey Item Number 1 Will Surprise you. The most popular prey in ShadowClan is...
1: Ducks.
And with the most common species, mallards, at about 2 pounds on average (with males being slightly larger) you're looking at 5,442 calories each. Enough to feed 15 warriors for a day.
(Note: This estimate is low; actual value would probably be higher. This measurement is taken from this chart which measured whole carcasses and caloric value rounded from 5.9 to 6, and this particular duck was "dressed"-- so its organs, the most valuable part of the animal, were already removed.)
Ducks are SO valuable as prey it's hard to oversell them. They're huge, they're highly nutritious (thiamin, vitamin a, vitamin b, iron), and they're PACKED with fats. They also lay eggs, TONS of them, which ShadowClan will happily snatch from inattentive hens.
The problem with ducks is, they don't stick around in the winter. Mallards might stay if the weather is mild, but if the water starts freezing, they're a-leaving.
That means that right when ShadowClan needs them the most, they'll vanish. If the marsh freezes, which is VERY likely because it's stillwater, they can't access ANYTHING under the ice. So Prey Animal Number 2 ALSO becomes an issue;
2: Carp
Their size and weight varies immensely, but the european carp is a species that AVERAGES 6 - 15 pounds. Using our rough estimation numbers and only a 6 pound fish, that's 10,884 calories. That's a whole Clan fed, if it's rationed perfectly.
Many carp are larger and heavier than cats. Here is a picture of a human fisher with two 5-pound bass so you can get a feel for just how big fish are
Tumblr media
The biggest problem with carp, aside from the fact that icy winter conditions will block access to catching them, is that their gallbladders are poisonous. Carp bile is the only dangerous type of bile Clan cats encounter (that I know about so far). When being eaten, Clan cats must take care to gut them gently and remove the organ without spilling toxic green slime everywhere.
(ShadowClan actually collects and uses this bile for other purposes. Dried and diluted, it can be used as a medicine for treating parasites, and wet and mixed into a poultice it can be used to dress wounds. If gargled, it can also dissolve and loosen stuck bones in the throat, VERY important for unknowing kittens who tried to eat cooked bird bones.)
These two are the most common animals in the highly varied ShadowClan diet. Hunt in the shallow marsh, and you're bound to bump into either a duck or a carp at some point.
But when winter rolls in, they start to rely on mammalian prey.
3: Rats
While some rats can breach 2 pounds (SHOUT OUT TO ALL MY NEW YORKERS) most of them only clock in at about half a pound-- 250 grams. That's 1,250 calories. About 3 cats fed.
(NOTE: These estimations of how MANY cats they feed assumes that these bites are being distributed evenly, such as if the animal was being put into a soup or meticulously portioned. It's more likely that a single rat is eaten alone or only shared between two warriors who then bulk up. The sensation of "fullness" is determined by weight rather than caloric value.)
Rats are highly adaptable omnivores, but most of their diet is actually plants! Humans associate them with garbage and filth, and yes, the rats from carrionplace would certainly taste awful. But most of the rats ShadowClan catches would be living in natural conditions, eating nuts, fruits, and smaller animals. So it doesn't make sense that canon sees ALL rats as dirty-- they should actually be a HUGE part of a warrior's diet!
Especially in ShadowClan, where the invasive brown rat has all but eliminated the native black rat population. Brown rats are huge, thick-tailed, excellent swimmers who stick around in the winter and find themselves right at home in a marsh or swamp.
In fact, ShadowClan thinks hunting them is a two-way blessing. A cat stays fed through the winter, and more resources are freed up for the rarer, but more delicious water vole. ThunderClan isn't the only Clan that understands population management.
And speaking of...
4: Squirrels
Significantly smaller than carp and ducks, gray squirrels are usually about 500 grams. I've heard it said that they triple in mass over the winter, but since I'm not sure if that means they triple in weight, I'll simply rule that a wintertime gray squirrel is 1000 grams. Which means about 5,000 calories, enough to feed 14 cats.
...but also. don't underestimate how big a squirrel is. You are a 200-pound bipedal ape, these are 10 pound cats. They are also eating all the organs you, a human, would usually toss.
Tumblr media
The general term, wetland, refers to all land that is... take a guess... wet. The difference between a marsh and a swamp is that a swamp is wooded land, which means squirrels can live there!
ShadowClan often finds itself in conflict with ThunderClan over squirrels. The native, endangered red squirrel is a cultural icon to ThunderClan and they believe it's important to protect it at all costs by killing gray squirrels whenever possible. ShadowClan, meanwhile, agrees red squirrels are beautiful, but isn't willing to be aggressive with gray squirrel populations to protect them.
5: Cheating
In true ShadowClan fashion I do what I want and use number 5 to babble about several animals they turn into grub
And SPEAKING of grubs, they love to forage for larval treats. They regularly make snacks out of chafer grubs, stag beetle larvae, cutworms, and if they can manage it, baby honeybees. Chafer grubs are their absolute favorite, which is another reason why WindClan is so passionate about maintaining their moorland; when it turns into grassland, ShadowClan is energized to fight for grub foraging space.
The "problem" with the meat of predators is that it's said to be tough and taste strong and unpalatable. ShadowClan doesn't entirely mind it, but if they end up with a predator in spring and summer, they like to use the seasonal stream (called a syke) that cuts across ThunderClan to soak the meat in running water for a few days.
Not to mention that they really will just grab at any animal, in addition to those lizards and frogs they're notorious for. Hedgehogs, crayfish, waterbirds, snails. There's all sorts of spices they'll use to try to season a strange meat, between mushrooms, pellitory, juniper, rosemary, so on.
It's harder to find something they WON'T eat.

have you reviewed the techo yet? i like their big ol feet
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Techo are pretty underrated pets; maybe I'm just biased because I have a deep love for geckos, but they're cute little guys with nice, simple designs. They're not technically that different from actual geckos in terms of anatomy, having the distinct sticky toes/fingers, large bugged out eyes, and big tails, but being bipedal instantly gives them a bit of flavor, and I like the way their tails stick straight up and have a naturally wiggly look to them.
Another thing that helps is their markings; they have these subtle swirls on their limbs, but they also have a few spots on their heads (typically red, though it varies when painted). There are plenty of geckos that have spots like this IRL, though the one that immediately jumps to mind is the Madagascar Giant Day Gecko:
Tumblr media
My only issue with their basic colors is that the cream-colored underbelly feels a bit low-contrast, and doesn't always work well with the base colour. I kind of feel like something more colorful would've been better; either a lighter tint of the base colour or a yellow to match the eyes. This isn't a big deal though, as most paint brush colours change this anyway.
Tumblr media
Conversion was sort of a mixed bag here; on the one hand, I like the anatomy of the converted version better with the better-proportioned arms, thicker tail, better-placed/bigger spots, and improved flow to the overall body. However, it also lost a lot of its personality; the customized version is just kind of there, while the unconverted version is delightfully cheerful and easy-going.
Favorite Colours:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Faerie: The UC/styled faerie Techo is amazing. I love that they didn't just slap generic butterfly wings on it, instead opting for some ruffled, folded wings vaguely reminiscent of something like a frilled-neck lizard. They fit the gecko base perfectly and the way they run all the way down the body is really cool. The light yellow body is then contrasted not only with the lighter blue wings but some darker blue spots that kind of invoke the default ones on the Techo's head, which makes it so the body isn't just a generic yellow Techo base. Beautiful stuff.
The only con is that the converted version sucks; not only did the markings change slightly for the worse, but the wings are both too light and no longer run down the tail like they used to, resulting in it looking 10x more generic. Defiantly go for the styled on this one.
Tumblr media
Woodland: I've already talked about this one before so I'll keep this one brief, but the woodland Techo is really neat; it's based on the leaf-tailed Gecko, which is both thematically appropriate and makes for a neat visual. The leaf tail and underbelly are integrated pretty well, and I like the more subtle color palette for this one.
Tumblr media
Maractite: The Maractite Techo does a fantastic job of integrating the Techo's natural markings into the design; not only are the arm and leg swirls present, but also the spots on the head, all detailed and seemly integrated with the rest of the body markings. There was also a lot of though put into the intricate flow of the markings on areas like the tail, and the plain underbelly has a wonderful hard polished rock texture to it.
Tumblr media
BONUS: The toy Techo is one of those sticky gecko toys, and like the Maractite, has a great texture to it. The concept is fun, and I like the use of neon-bright color here. My only issue with it is that the tail feels disconnected from the body; I think it being green would've solved that issue, especially because there are three colors competing here already (pink, green, and red). I'm also not a huge fan of the spots here, as they look weird with the raised texture. The rest of it is pretty delightful though.

Homarid Shaman is unplayable. It costs too much mana, has terrible stats, has an extremely niche ability and the ability requires additional mana. What is the point of talking about cards like these? Even newer players would likely realize that this card is jank. There are many reason why even cards like this one deserve a discussion. First, this is still a reserved list card. It is part of the history of the game that can never be reprinted so it is easy to forget. If you don't take a look even at unplayable cards then you might forget that recurring nightmare is on the reserved list too! Next, not everyone knows that this card shouldn't see play in any deck. Newer players may need to see a card like this too understand costs and what to expect for the amount of mana you pay. Third, you never know what card can come along that can break a card in half. They could make a card that draws ten cards when a play creature taps down a green creaure and then we would all have egg on our face when homarid shaman is 100 dollars. Never say never. Furthermore, you can use cards like these to talk about the living history of the game. Right now many creature types are being chaged to match the animal they are based on. For example, viashino became lizard and Cephalid became octopus. There is mixed reaction in the community if this is a positive change but change is usually met with some resistance. In 5 years this may all be forgotten and people may not realize why some of the lizard cards used to have creature type viashino. It could also hint at a subtle shift in mtg as a whole from an intellectual property trying to carve out an identity to a big business seeking conformity to appeal to a majority. After all, isn't one of the stated reasons behind universes beyond is to attract a broader audience? Even some mtg fans may not know what a cephalid is but everyone knows a lizard. The point of bringing this up is that homarids survived this creature type update. Homarid fans rejoice! Homarid remains homarid! However, that is merely because the creature type is not used very much. There is a very real chance that homarid becomes crab. What does everyone think about this? Do you want to see this change? What do you think about these latest creature type updates? Did you like this way of capturing living history in the discussion of a reserved list card where there is not much to say? If you must play homarid shaman in a deck I would suggest Hylda icy queen or any other commander with a tap theme. Most 4 person games should have some green creatures you can tap.

Thoughts on Cicada?
Send Me a Character!
SHE.
Tumblr media
First impression ...I did not think much of her because I just only goofed off in Rhythm Heaven (Fever). The songs stuck with me but not the characters...except the Flipper Flop seals. Those guys are great. Originally didn't get the idea that Cricket and the spikey hair kung fu boy were the same dude until 2018 when my big WarioWare obsession hit. Did call the girl Firefly...that never caught on.
Impression now I like her a lot! She's not constantly in my brain worms but, I do appreciate thoughts that involve her. I still accidentally call her Firefly but I latched onto the girl when the Cricket Gold trailer came out. And then connected the dots that she could be the lil girl on the train..."ONE EGG". Need to draw her more.
Favorite moment GIRL'S BACK BAYBEEEEEEEE I unfortunately had that spoiled but...it was still nice to see her back.
Idea for a story Her and Cricket trying to babysit the twins. I like imagining how she would get along with the twins. ...It does not start out swimmingly.
Unpopular opinion I don't know...maybe it's the matter that I don't like the idea of her being romantic with Cricket...? But I've seen folks in agreement and disagreement with the notp. Also thank god for Move It bringing her back, I am sick and tired of people mistaking her as Mona or Ana.
Favorite relationship I've already mentioned that I liked her connection with Cricket. Long forgotten fellow student comes back for competition is neat. Again, would love to see her interact with the twins and Lulu. Especially Lulu actually...mistaken romance anyone? (disclaimer: I am not a fan of the crushy blushy Lulu has on Cricket. She outgrows it in my lore >:T)
Favorite headcanon She has a pet Guiro Lizard :3 A green one to be specific. Their name is Jiezou. Actually maybe she has both lizards...eff it, she does.

The taxonomy of Sly Cooper: Part 3
Part 1 Part 2
Sorry for being so late with this one, but I've been occupied with other things.
Anyway, time to overthink the biology of the different members of the Klaww Gang!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Starting off with a two for one, it's pretty obvious that both Neyla and Rajan are meant to be mainland or bengal tigers (Panthera tigris tigris). They were originally conceived by the developers as father and daughter afterall.
Tumblr media
I think pretty much everyone knows what tigers are and what they're all about (solitary apex predators, live in Asia) so I'll spare you the details, and share some lesser known facts about them instead.
Most relevant to the topic at hand, the bengal tiger was long considered a separate subspecies from the siberian, chinese and malayan populations, but recent genetical analysis suggests that they all belong to the same subspecies, and are now collectively referred to as the mainland tiger. The only other extant subspecies being the Sunda Islands or sumatran tiger.
Contrary to what Bentley would have you believe, tigers do NOT have an aversion to water. In fact they are some of the best swimmers among big cats, with the population in the Sundarbans being known to swim between islands in the delta in search of prey.
And contrary to popular belief, there are NOT more tigers in captivity in the US than there are tigers in the wild. @why-animals-do-the-thing has a very well researched series examining the data regarding captive tigers in the US which you can find here.
Sidenote: As a kid I thought that Neyla was supposed to be just a normal (purple) tabby cat. It wasn't until I got older and heard Dimitri's office recordings that I realized she was supposed to be a tiger.
Tumblr media
Speaking of Dimitri, he is obviously an iguana of some kind. There are no wild iguanas in France, but i guess his family could have migrated there. Some fans have identified him as a marine iguana (Amblyrhynchus cristatus), but his pointed skull and impressive dewlap beard suggests to me that he belongs to the genus of true iguanas (yes, taxonomy is confusing).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are two recognised species of the Iguana genus; the green iguana (Iguana iguana) and the lesser antilliean iguana (Iguana delicatissima). I couldn't decide which one fit Dimitri better so you're getting another two for one. Both species grow to be up to six feet long, with males being larger than females. They are herbivorous, and feed on a wide variety of leaves, flowers, seeds and fruits. Both species live in forest and swamp areas, and are very capable swimmers and climbers. In addition to having well-developed vision, iguanas also possess a so-called parietal eye placed at the top of their skull, which allows them to detect ultra-violet light.
The green iguana is by far the most widespread of the two species, being found throughout most of Central America and northern South America, along with invasive populations in Florida and the Carribean. It is also one of the most popular lizards in the pet trade, even though it can be notoriously demanding and stroppy.
By contrast, the lesser antillean iguana is critically endangered, being only found on the archipelago of Lesser Antilles. Here it faces threats from invasive species, such as feral dogs and cats, but its greatest threat is, ironically enough, its invasive cousin the green iguana. The two species compete over resources, and can even interbreed, creating hybrids which further limit the native population.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Contessa is most likely a black widow spider of the genus Latrodectus, seeing as she's often associated with an hourglass symbol which several members of the genus famously display on their abdomen. There are way too many Latrodectus species to count, so I'm just gonna assume that she is a southern black widow (Latrodectus mactans) which is basically the type species for the genus.
The southern black widow is the most common Latrodectus species in North America, being found throughout the southeastern United States along with Mexico and the Dominican Republic. Like other spiders it largely preys on insects, but sometimes also preys on other spiders, including its fellow species.
Black widows are infamous for their venom, which causes a condition called Latrodectism. This venom is rarely fatal in humans, with fatalities usually being those already of poor health, but it is extremely painful, causing symptons like nausea, vomiting, and muscle pain. These symptoms can sometimes last for weeks.
Black widows are of course also known for practicing sexual cannibalism, where the larger female will consume the male after mating, hence the "widow" name. This is not guaranteed however, as the female may spare the male if she isn't hungry. The females are generally the deadlier of the species though, as they are not only larger, but also have more potent venom (and a longer lifespan). All very fitting for a character who likely poisoned her husband.
Tumblr media
As for Jean Bison, I actually like to think that he is a wisent or european bison (Bison bonasus). Part of that is his design. While his head is definitely big, it isn't quite as ridicoulously large as that of an american bison (Bison bison). More importantly however, I think it makes more sense for a european colonizer trying to industrialize the wild north, as opposed to a native american animal.
Tumblr media
The european bison is distinquished from its american relative by being generally smaller and lankier in frame, but it is still a large and powerful animal. Adult bulls stand 6 feet tall at the shoulder (taller than the american bison) and can weigh up to 900 kg, making them the largest land animal in all of Europe.
The species has historically had a range covering most of northern Europe, but overhunting and habitat loss drove them to extinction in the wild in the early 20th century. Less than 60 animals remained in zoos worldwide, but thanks to wildlife rehabilitation efforts the species is slowly but steadily recovering. Today they are found in scattered populations across Europe, mostly in the east.
All in all, quite an ironic fit for a villain who's goal involves destroying the natural environment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And finally we have Arpeggio. I had a hard time choosing between two particular species for him; the yellow faced parrot (Alipiopsitta xanthops), and the golden parakeet (Guaruba guarouba). Thanks to @arpeggio-the-parrot for coining me in on that last one. The yellow-faced has a more appropriate plumage, but the parakeet has a more prominent beak, much like Arpeggio. This combined with features we'll discuss later makes me conclude that he must be a golden parakeet. I do also kinda like the idea of him being a flightless kakapo, but I digress.
The golden parakeet or golden conure is only found in the Amazon Basin of northern Brazil. The species is endangered in the wild due to deforestation and the pet trade. It has a diet largely consisting of fruits and seeds, particularly corn. This is a highly social species, with up to 10 individuals roosting in the same tree hole. Different females will lay their eggs in a single nest, and when the chicks hatch they are raised communally.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The golden parakeet might seem like an odd choice, given that adults of the species are almost entirely yellow, (besides their green remige flight feathers) as opposed to Arpeggio's more balanced mix of yellow and green. However, juvenile parakeets have more prominently green coloring, including their back and tail feathers, which they lose as they grow older. This to me suggests, that Arpeggio likely suffers from paedomorphism (the retention of juvenile traits into adulthood), which would also explain his underdeveloped wings, that are so key to his character. Funny how things work out like that.

A fan made All Tomorrows family tree I fussed over quite a lot before settling on this version. It includes human lineages, other earthlings, and a few aliens. I did this mainly to add context to the book's family tree and organize some groups for clarity. And if you can believe it, this isn't even the whole roster of species, but I kept the well known species and their cohorts and ancestors in the picture as much as I could.
I found a lot of trouble trying to tie posthuman groups together with the boxes (miMind will try to attach them to the nodes because the boxes are just big nodes), and conveying the less obvious connections to some groups as indicated by the dotted lines. I'm aware there are more that should've been added, but, at a certain point I wanted to avoid added visual noise.
Now there's no way all the information thus far can fit into the ALT text feature, so it's probably best to take a crack at it here.
The very top starts with a non-human, therizinosaurs, to contextualize what Panderavis pandora is. Or, was. The green outline for these nodes indicates it's a reptile. I stuck it in the node closest resembling a coffin because Panderavis went extinct well before it was discovered.
The modern humans split off into two nodes, the Earth Humans, and the Martians. They had eventually interbred to create the Star People, who then discovered Panderavis bones.
The Star People hereafter had almost all populations genetically modified by the damselfly-like aliens known as the Qu, or Quhanim.
Under the posthuman lineages that died out during bottleneck events are: Mantelopes, Bone Crushers, Temptors, Hand Flappers, Blind Folk, Titans, Striders, and unknown others.
One lineage of Star Person went into hiding and avoided the Qu, which are the Spacers.
The surviving lineages that were Qu modified are:
Insectophagi, Ruin Haunters, Swimmers, Lopsiders, Colonials, Parasites and their Hosts, Worms, Finger Fishers, Flyers, Lizard Herders, Hedonists, and Predators with their Prey.
Note the Lizard Herders co-existed with a reptile originally from planet Earth, which had become the Herd Lizards. As appropriate, their outline is also green.
Onwards to the second empire era posthumans as indicated with blue fill and outline, with one notable green exception. Insectophagi gave rise to the Bug Facers, Ruin Haunters the Gravitals, Swimmers the Tool Breeders, Lopsiders the Asymmetric People, Colonials the Modular People, Parasites and Hosts the Symbiotes, Worms the Snake People, Finger Fishers gave rise to aerial species and the marine Sail People, Flyers gave rise to aquatic and terrestrial species along with the aerial Pterosapiens, Spacers became Asteromorphs, the Lizard Herders became Human Steeds, Hedonists turned Satyriacs, and the Predators became the Killer Folk. Prey still exist, but some of them are farmed.
And the one species that is considered arguably more human than the posthuman steed it coexists with, is the Saurosapients. They're descended from Herd Lizards.
The big box enveloping most of these posthumans indicates they were eradicated by the Gravitals, thus ending the second empire. Although most precursors went extinct in the sense they all evolved into their second era iterations, there is at least one exception. The Lopsiders still existed with the Asymmetrics, and were wiped out by their descendants. Only the Asteromorphs, Bug Facers, and Gravitals themselves remained.
The Gravitals then subjugated and modified the Bug Facers into the Subjects.
Meanwhile the Asteromorphs underwent further changes into godlike forms. They usurped the Gravitals, who were altered into the New Machines, and rescued the Subjects, who became the Rescued Subjects. The Asteromorphs, being hands-off parents of this new humanity, created Terrestrial forms of their kin to withstand gravity and watch over their Subjects on their home planets.
These are a few lineages left of what was once humanity, and an alien with an equally complex yet unknown history enters, the Amphicephali.
New Machines, Rescued Subjects, Asteromorphs, Terrestrials, and Amphicephali are indicated as coexisting in this new era with red.
The Qu descend from an unknown species, and the Author character's descent is equally mysterious.
And that about wraps it up. I've left out fan theories around the origins of the Amphicephali, Qu, and Author alien in trying to keep this chart objective to the original book. It may outdate itself once the redux is published, and there might not be a "need" for another fan chart if CMK includes one in the redux and polishes it to a shine. We'll see in a few years, realistically speaking.

Super Famicom - The Amazing Spider-Man Lethal Foes

Genre: Platform Action
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wow. This is an awesome game. Usually, most Spiderman games suck. Think of, for example, Spiderman: Return of the Sinister Six; Spiderman & X-Men: Arcade's Revenge; Maximum Carnage; and the list goes on. Most of those games just don't capture the Spiderman spirit as they should. But this little-known game - Spiderman: Lethal Foes - is a real gem. Here's why: Spiderman actually moves fast in this game, which is a big plus. The control is quite responsive, and swinging on a web is easy, fast, and fun. It's also easy to cling to any wall or ceiling, and sometimes even the background wall (I've done it, but I couldn't quite get the hang of it). Unfortunately, the ease of use of the web swing kind of messes up the learning curve, because outdoor levels are a breeze with that particular move. Also, you can fight enemies by pummeling them with the punch button, or by shooting webs at them.
Sure, the graphics aren't up to par with games like Donkey Kong Country or Tales of Phantasia, but the Graphics in S:LF get the job done. The backgrounds are detailed and colorful, and the character sprites all look exactly like who they're supposed to portray (except Dr. Octopus - He look's kind of weird). The music is nothing special, but it doesn't get annoying either. Nothing sticks out in my mind. The sound effects are fitting, but kind of weird. For example, when you punch, it makes the same ''whap'' sound whether you hit an enemy or not. Also, the sound Spidey makes when he gets hurt sounds EXACTLY like Samus' hurt sound in Super Metroid.
Well, this game does appear to have a good story, in fact it has a cutscene between each level, but I have no idea what the story is, because the game is in Japanese. That's right, the game was never released in North America (shame, really), and as far as I know, there's no fan translated ROM of it. However, hence the name Lethal Foes, you do get to see many of Spiderman's familiar enemies, including Lizard, Mysterio, Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Venom, Carnage, and others. There are also friendly cameos from The Human Torch, some guy who's name I forget (he has a blue uniform and weird floaty balls around his head) and Iron Fist. Venom also lends a hand while fighting the final boss.

Omniverse - Another crazy Spider-Verse crossover idea I had, this time based on Ben 10
Yep, I had this idea floating around in my head for quite a bit today, in part thanks to reading up plenty about Ben 10 on the TV Tropes wiki. It got me imagining; what if we had another Spider-Verse-esque crossover, but involving the universe of Ben 10 instead?
I mean, the premise of alternate realities and timelines has been explored quite a bit in the many iterations of the franchise (like Gwen getting the Omnitrix instead of Ben or Ben's other alternate counterparts), and it got me imagining a cast line-up for the concept. The ones I thought up for the story are as follows:
Omni-Gang
Miles Morales / Spider-Man II = Alt Alan Albright / Alan Fanon (harbouring on him being a fanon counterpart to the original)
Peter B. Parker / Spider-Man = Ben A. Tennyson / Ben 10
Gwen Stacy / Spider-Woman = Julie Yamamoto / Julie 30
Spider-Man Noir = Classic Cartoon Ben 10
Spider-Ham = Reboot Ben 10
Peni Parker and SP//dr = Anime Lucy Mann and Ship
Pavitr Prabhakr / Spider-Man India = India Jimmy Jones
Hobie Brown / Spider-Punk = Ultimate Ben 10,000
Margo Kess / Spider-Byte = Gwen 10
Mayday Parker = Toddler Ken Green-Tennyson
Villains (Into the Omniverse)
William "Kingpin" Fisk = Phil Billings
Aaron Davis / The Prowler = Manny Armstrong / Techadon Warrior
Olivia Octavius / Doc-Ock = Arshika Charlie Animo / Dr. Animo
Green Goblin = Sunder the Retriever
Tombstone = Fistrick
Scorpion = Vulkanus
Villains (Across/Beyond the Omniverse)
Adriano Tumino / Renaissance Vulture = Pastel Master Kundo
Jonathan Ohnn / The Spot = Albedo / Negative Ben 10
Armadillo = Ssserpent
Miles G. Morales = Alan K. Albright
Villains (Miscellaneous)
Doctor Crawdaddy = Tim Buktu (Ben 10 Reboot)
Pavitr's Hobgoblin = Trombipulor
Omni-Society
Miguel O'Hara / Spider-Man 2099 = Reboot Evil Ben 10/Alien X
Lyla = Alternate Glitch (in a Gwen form)
Jessica Drew / Spider-Woman = Molly Gunther
Ben Reilly / Scarlet Spider = Ben 23
Supporting Cast (Base Universe)
Jefferson Morales = Alt Pierce Wheels
Rio Morales = Alt Helen Wheels
Spider-Man I = Ben B. Tennyson / Ben 10
May Parker = Grandpa Max Tennyson
Mary-Jane Watson-Parker = Kai Green-Tennyson
Ganke Lee = JT
Supporting Cast (Ben A.'s universe)
Mary-Jane Watson = Kai Green
Supporting Cast (Julie's universe)
Peter Parker / The Lizard = Ben Tennyson / Zs'Skayr
Captain George Stacy = Victor Valadis
Supporting Cast (Jimmy's universe)
Gayatri Singh = Elena Valadis
Supporting Cast (Alan K.'s universe)
Rio Morales = Alt Helen Wheels
The Omnitrix is the swap-in for the radioactive spider here, and whoever finds it is the one (in)voluntarily assigned to help protect the universe from all sorts of threats, whether they wish to or not, sending their life from ordinary to extraordinary fast.
I picked Julie specifically for the role of Spider-Gwen, considering how she lost her overall touch in the series after Omniverse (and kinda because I personally shipped Ben and Julie as a kid, even with their rough spots), hence why I felt she and Alan would make a good fit for each other due to similar insecurities.
I had been thinking carefully about the roles to assign to each character I could. I originally intended Ben 23 to be the swap-in for Spider-Ham, but considering how full of himself he was before Omniverse Ben/Ben Prime came along (which is why he's in Reilly's place), I felt Reboot Ben 10, whose world is less serious than the others, could fit the role better, whilst also inheriting sympathetic traits like relating to losing someone close.
The Classic Cartoon Ben 10 isn't from the ORIGINAL storyline, but rather one based on classic cartoons from the 60s and 70s, just to avoid confusion there. Lucy Mann's genki girl approach, for one, made her a perfect fit for Peni's role here, too.
And considering Jimmy Jones is a big fan of Ben 10 in canon (and was respected for it in Ultimate Alien), I felt the naïve newcomer status could work for an alternate universe version of him from India. And as Ultimate Ben 10,000 is pretty much on top of his game (alongside being less likely to steer towards canon), he fits well for Hobie's role.
The evil reboot Ben 10, I felt, fits well for the role of Miguel, since he lost his Gwen and Max when they tried to save him, which led him down a darker path in life and required FIVE Omnitrix users to take him down. Likewise, I thought a Gwen variant of Glitch to go with him (which fits well with her sass in the series proper) fits Lyla's role as a digital assistant to a futuristic hero.
Since the four Plumbers' Helpers are of similar age, I felt that Pierce and Helen are Alan's legal guardians in Bellwood, alongside both assisting the Plumbers in protecting Earth. Manny, who has Aaron's role, is the most hot-headed of the four, but has a good heart deep down.
The reason for Alan having to inherit his Ben's role is through inheriting his Omnitrix after Ben gives him the responsibility to protect his world for him, and his compatibility with it came from the other dimension thanks to the experiments Phil's scientists were doing. As for the whole hair-sticking incident, Julie's hair was longer (as far down as her waist) before the accident, and at present, it's as long as in canon.
Max being the badass old man, no matter what universe, comes with the territory anyway, same with him being tech-savvy, which allows him to help Alan adjust to being the new hero. Kai is also commonly the girl Ben ultimately ends up marrying between universes, and JT being Alan's roomie contributes to him being the more chill between him and Cash (the glasses are a plus, too).
I also thought carefully about the rogues gallery between stories from throughout Ben 10's history, like having a female counterpart to Dr. Animo, or Ssserpent being the random villain Alan has to quickly deal with on his way back home with a cake, due to the villain's butt-monkey status in his first two appearances (he got better on the third).
Zs'Sakyr, I felt, was the best counterpart to represent The Lizard in Omniverse, since he's Ghostfreak's true self who tried possessing Ben and gaining full power over the Omnitrix. And I've kept up with the theme of altering art styles for the AU version of Master Kundo (like how Vulture was from the Renaissance, Green Impostor (Funkinverse) was from a sketchbook, and Snively (from my work, IAB!) was from a cell-shaded world).
Albedo, I thought, would be the best option available for a swap-in for Ohnn, as he became villainous through making a fake Omnitrix that made him a direct doppelganger of Ben (until a bioenergy feedback caused his appearance to shift), and since he fell into D-List villain territory, I felt he could have the biggest voyage to become an arch-enemy that Alan CAN'T ignore in general.
You guys are welcome to take all that as you will, and make up your own ideas on how things will turn out for them. See you later!

And Another Thing... by Eoin Colfer - My Thoughts [Spoilers]
I wasn't originally going to read this instalment of Hitchhiker's, as I had finished Mostly Harmless and felt satisfied that I had read everything that most fans consider "canon" (if that word even matters in Sci-Fi) Though truth be told, I had already listened to the Hexagonal Phase of the radio play series that is based on this book. And to be honest, I really like that series of the radio play, enough to own it on vinyl So I already sort of knew the story, though anyone could tell you that nothing replaces the actual book when it comes to adaptations That all changed, however, when I was in Waterstones with my cousin and she spotted a paperback copy. I felt like I hadn't seen a physical copy of And Another Thing... since 2012 and thought 'what the hell, how bad could it be?' Turns out, it's pretty good Not fantastic, and it has some rather odd continuity problems with the other books (like Zaphod suddenly being blonde and Wowbagger going from greyish green to lizard green) but I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it Also, I've heard of people having a problem with the opening, saying that it makes the ending of the radio series canon and not the ending of the books. I've never really understood this argument, because that reality is revealed to be an illusion, Random even mentions she experienced a different escape from Earth in the simulated reality. It's Colfer using the premise of the Quintessential Phase ending as just another way the characters experienced the simulation, otherwise why would he bother putting them right back into Club Beta? It's a fakeout for the reader If anything, I actually like how the opening re-introduces the characters to each other and the reader. Plus it's a good excuse as to why the Vogons can't use The Guide Mk2's Unfiltered Perception anymore One thing I will definitely say I don't like about the opening, is the sudden death of the alternate Trillian. It felt very brushed over and a bit tactless, like Ford Prefect suddenly telling you to get up from under that bulldozer so you can go drink with him (sorry, couldn't resist) That being said, I feel that most of the actual character writing is done pretty well. Sure, Wowbagger and Trillian getting together isn't really what I would say the series needed per say, but at least it felt like she had an actual part to play this time, even if that part was limited to giving Wowbagger a reason to live I feel that Zaphod, however, is a character that Colfer got almost perfect and reading his chapters were some of my favourites in the story. And speaking of characters I like, Constant Mown. I'm unaware of what the fandom thinks of Mown, but I'm going to admit that I do like him and I think that he isn't an utter bastard. Not yet at least. Mown is actually one of my favourite additions to Hitchhiker's lore from this book. Not only does he give us more opportunities to explore the bizarre psyche and culture of the Vogons, but he adds a nice extra level of depth to the old bureaucratic slugs of the galaxy Moving backwards a bit, I want to say that there is a certain charm to Douglas Adams books that always makes me smile. Even Mostly Harmless has plenty in it that is either funny or just down right good Sci-Fi or both that I can't help but enjoy. And I feel that it is important to acknowledge that for a certain period, during the beginning of And Another Thing... I felt that charm again. It didn't last for as long as an actual Douglas Adams book would have, but it was there, and I think that alone should give Eoin Colfer a big handful of credit In conclusion: And Another Thing... is not perfect, it has its issues, yet it is thoroughly enjoyable. And while I would not say it was an absolute must for all Hitchhiker's fans, if you are the kind of hoopy frood who can give little continuity breaks a backseat to entertainment, then this one is for you
Another Thing:
And Another Thing... did not receive a 42nd Anniversary Edition to go along with the rest of the series. So the cover sticks out like a sore thumb on my shelf. To fix this, I made own custom cover, it's not perfect but it makes me happy (just like the book, oddly enough)

Day 7: Likes
Okay I have a LOT of ocs and stuff so I’m gonna delagate this promt and the “dislikes” prompt soley to my rambunctious group of musical idiots, the Bandmates Team!!!!!!!! That way this post is a lot more controlled and consise and doesnt end up being and endless scroll for you guys!!!!
Cherri
Cherri is a loud and proud partygoer with a “need for speed” personality, and one of her favorite pastimes is street racing! She actually has a car that she does modifications on when shes not driving the ratty old band van, and its a nice sleek sports car with hot pink wrap on it (its model is like- Corvette or Hellcat in style). She mostly keeps it in the garage of her and Riot’s shared apartment and does the oil changes and maitnence on both her car and the Band’s van herself!
Her favorite type of music is PopPunk, but she also likes general pop music and metal!
Her favorite colors are red and pink and she loves more fem clothing
Her prefferred instrument is the Bass Guitar!
Riot
Riot, despite being the lead male singer of the band, is actually pretty shy and reclusive in his hobbies!!! For one, hes a HUGE videogame nerd and when not rocking out on stage, he’s tucked under soooo many blankets in the apartment grinding away on his games, though hes got a bit of a soft spot for cozy simulator games, but hes not picky about genre! He also enjoys plenty of anime and films, and really is just a big ol geek behind his loud bark of a voice!
His favorite genre of music is rock and pop music, though he also enjoys some metal!
His favorite color is Neon Green and he has a more grunge, masc style of fashion, though mostly he just tosses on whatever’s clean.
His preffered instrument is the Electric Guitar!
N3XU5 Alpha
Alpha is the reclusive and cynical band manager, and really its unclear if it even likes anything at all, but he does have its hobbies! Mostly, it loves to stargaze, and will take hikes with his little sister to stargaze in the mountains where it sets himself up as a telescope and calculates the approximate age and distance of the stars from our planet.
Its favorite genre of music is Classical music and instrumentals, he’s not a big fan of vocals
His favorite color is electric blue!
Its preferred instrument is the theramin
N3XU5 Beta
Beta. Likes. EVERYTHING. They love it. Life is amazing, life is incredible is there anything she DOESNT like???? She loves her brother they love her friends she loves the sky they love the earth under her claws. EVERYTHING!!!! Rocks ESPECIALLY. God she loves rocks. Crystals and even just regular old river stones they LOVE them, she collects them even! They love them for so many reasons from the facinating religious reasons to even just how rocks form!!!!
Her favorite genre of music is EVERY kind and they absolutely LOVE being in a band, but she has a special love for Vocaloid!!!
Their favorite color is sunset orange because thats what color SHE IS and isnt that just wonderful?
Her prefferred instrument is the keytar or synth
Dimitri
Dimitri is a simple lizard. They like to get high and do crime. There’s a reason they turned the local abandoned warehouse lot into their home base (and where the band holds a lot of their secret concerts and practice sessions!) and they have decorated it with all kinds of graffiti and even built a burn pit where they just set things on fire cause they can. They’ve also set up a pretty sick skatepark on the lot and they use it all the time when tryin to think up song lyrics, though mostly they just light up a joint and stares into the fire to come up with stuff
Their favorite genre of music is metal, but they’re also into musicals!
Their favorite color is the glowing red of the flames, but they also dont mind the purple of their own scales!
Their preffered instrument is the drums!

Are YOU 🫵 a fan of seeing how other people's characters change over time due to style and design evolution? Well, you're in luck! I happen to be sitting on four (4) redraws AND redesigns of old TMNT characters that were created around 2014 and never saw the light of day ever since! Below are the images and my general thoughts!
For each redraw I tried to reference the general shapes of the original drawings while still using my current artstyle. For the redesigns I gave myself full creative control with the goal of still maintaining the original concept/soul of the characters. I basically wanted them to look better in every way but still recognizable :D
First up is Cynthia!
Tumblr media
- I'm 90% sure she was a blue-lined skink. As far as I know none of these characters were ever colored, I couldn't find any old drawings of them that weren't anything but pencil, but I somehow have their general color palettes engraved into my brain?? I remembered her being blue with blonde hair and stripes, so I rolled with that.
- Going into this I had the idea of making them a DnD-esque team, each with specific roles. I later decided to lean into a steampunk aesthetic, so Cynthia got to be a mechanic! She would provide support to the main fighters, while also providing items through crafting. She could also, like, throw a wrench or something idk
- Her design may or may not have been inspired by Helga from the Atlantis movie 😳
Next is Kaida!
Tumblr media
- How did I even come up with these names? I must have scrolled through a baby name database until something jumped out because there's NO cohesion 😭
- Also wow a green snake how original 😑 We're just gonna go with the smooth green snake for simplicity's sake. I hung onto Kaida a bit longer than the others so she might have made it to digital art, but I sadly have nothing from before 2016 saved. I kept the redraw color bright because what teenager didn't go crazy with the saturation? For the redesign, however, I desaturated the green to make it go better with the brown. I also turned the hair into gorgon-like locs, as well as giving them light green "eyes" and "underbellies" to mimic gorgon hair
- Now I love snake people as much as the next person, but the biologist in my heart always hated that they just have. arms. You know what fixes that? SICK ASS BIONIC ARMS!!! ALSO, since snakes are know to be very stealthy and good at getting in and out of tight places, Kaida would excel at sneaking around, possibly to set traps or plant poisons? 👀So she obviously needed a wicked gas mask to pair.
Next is Sage!
Tumblr media
- Idk why but she was the only one to have a mask?? Anyways she's a horned lizard that I distinctly remember having red hair. Overall her design changed the least because it honestly looked the best out of the four of them.
- If this were a fantasy universe Sage would have been the team magic user, but since this isn't that I leaned towards a researcher/archivist. She would be the one in the academic trenches, digging up clues and utilizing information in dungeons. I'm debating whether to have overt or even subtle "mysticism" in this universe (like ROTTMNT), so maybe she'll pull a Luz Noceda and use scrolls to channel powers.
- For her outfit I was getting big "mid 1900s academic craze" vibes, so I went with Fallout-esque active wear. Look out men, a woman is wearing pants!
Last is Asya!
Tumblr media
- Asya went through the most drastic change by far. Not only did she have a fuck-ass hairstyle, but I genuinely could not remember her species or color scheme. Like wow a lizard with spots? What a marvel! I only remember her having grey-brown hair 😔 Looking at her pupils and round fingers/toes I THINK she might have been a tokay gecko? But I heard the call of the leopard gecko and I answered it willingly... So she got a cute crop, a chunky tail, and actual leopard marks instead of uniform dots.
- Having a long-range hitter would complete the team balance, so I went with a gunslinger to keep up the steampunk vibes. I was most inspired by fantasy western fashion and also maybe Ada Wong 😳 My brother actually helped me design the guns because I know fuckall about them. My original design referenced Bayonetta's guns because double barrels sound sick as hell, then he pointed me towards Nero's gun from DMC to make it look actually functional.
Aaand that's it! I hope you enjoyed this little analysis; I think it's useful and also a little fun to justify my choices made when designing a character, sort of like an art critique without the stress! Let me know your thoughts!

Group E Round 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[image ID: the first image is a black and white picture of Akama, a Japanese man with short black hair, a bandana or scarf tied around his neck, a long sleeve shirt or jacket, holding what appears to be a small glass of alcohol. the second image is of No Significant Harassment, a shadowy figure standing behind a sleeping pink-red, fox-like creature. their green hands seem to be holding up the floating creature. end ID]
Akama
Look, I'm a big Dostoevsky fan and when reading "The Idiot" I didn't like Rogozhin one bit. But watching the Japanese adaptation and the new/different version of his character Akama? Suddenly I understood why Nastasya/Taeko was willing to go to him. Look he's a little crazy and also definitely bisexual. Like very bisexual. I think if him, Taeko, and Kameda got together it would be the world's worst trouple but also incredibly powerful and great. Who talks to his love rival and suddenly go "swap with me your charm even though mine is very fancy and expensive and yours isnt and it will be sign of our brotherhood and connection and also now you have to meet my mother and wow she likes you and also i'm going to try to kill you but won't be able to do it and even though you know that I want to kill you you'll refuse to think less of me and now i'm going to kill the woman we're both in love with and you and i are going to spend the whole night up together taking turns watching her body and you're going to ask me to go into detail about how i killed her and you also knew i would kill her and wow does the fact that I was able to kill her but not you prove that I loved her more or less than how much i loved you and I know i've just damned myself to prison but please don't leave me until the morning and you're so so good so much that Taeko was scared to ruin you but i don't care if i ruin you too but also you're a lamb and you need to be careful about wolves like me and even though I killed the woman you love you're still lying next to me under all these blankets because there's a blizzard out and we have to keep the room cold to keep her body from decomposing and smelling because she looks so beautiful and you should go look at her too when the sun comes up and wow my life is worse for having met you but i can't curse you in any way because you are so so good." anyways i'm normal about him
No Significant Harassment
They're just a silly little guy. A jokester. Significant harassment if you will. Anyway, a more in depth run down: They're a city sized supercomputer built by a Buddhist adjacent society to figure out how to transcend the 'Great Cycle' (semi-metaphorical cycle of death and rebirth) in a safer way than the previous method (submerging oneself in the 'void sea' which is a mysterious golden liquid that dissolves whatever it touches). Despite being built for this express purpose NSH never really shows a pressing interest in ascension, even cracking jokes about those who are still looking for a solution. Whether this is due to indifference, dislike of, or humor to cope with being unable to ascend is not clear and really up to interpretation. Example: NSH: I wish them super good luck in that endeavor. How is it going to happen? Have the overseers gnaw through bedrock until their entire can crashes down in the void sea? BSM: Please be respectful when speaking of the Void Sea. Grey Wind, where did you hear this? CW: I really shouldn't say. He's going to attempt some sort of breeding program. Thought you might want to know. NSH: Haha with the slimers, lizards and etceteras? Surely the answer was in a lizard skull all along! He's very flippant, but does care very intensely for those close to him. NSH: Moon? It's me again. NSH: I do not know if you are receiving these. Please signal in any way you can. NSH: I need to talk to you. I need to know you're okay. NSH: … NSH: Its difficult for us to assist you over this distance. NSH: Even more difficult for us to do anything in the midst of these tantrums. NSH: Were going to try everything that we can. NSH: Just hold on a little longer. (Context for previous convo: They genetically engineered a super organism of a slugcat (the species you play as in Rain World) to help reset his coworker/sibling after her collapse and restart her systems. He was so desperate to fix her that he accidentally messed up the slugcat's (Hunter) genetic code and as a result it became riddle with the Rot (relatively similar to aggressive cancer) :( which parallels his other coworker/siblings condition who also has the rot. ) He canonically uses he/they pronouns too! Nonbinary swag! NSH has major internet troll vibes. He has sent a data pearl of "something distasteful" to his neighbors on several(?) occasions and causes chaos. If he had access to the wider internet he'd probably be an influencer So…yeah! Vote NSH this website likes the allure of heavy machinery and stuff like that so… there you go. Kind of a blorbo. End post.
