Hi Julia, I'm gonna push back on your post re: nyc. I grew up in another city in New York State and moved to the city at 17 for work, never going to college. I've lived in three different boroughs, and never held a lease, just for context. I think the divide of "native New Yorker" vs "transplant" is in many ways created as a way of sewing division and doesn't reflect that in every strongly-rooted ethnic group, immigrant or otherwise, there is a certain amount of coming and going. For me, every generation of my fam has come here to live for a time since immigrating, despite moving to the south or Midwest. That's super common for my ethnicity and common in many other groups here.

Many if not most of my friends who grew up here have nuanced views on this, and when it gets down to it see it beyond a binary of "native vs nonnative". I think that viewing it as a binary isn't particularly useful. There are definitely alienated internal migrants and people who move to join elite communties, but most of my friends who grew up here have lived elsewhere for a time, and if there have family or ethnic community here aren't weird about it.

This model of discourse doesnt usually talk about the strongly rooted elite/borgeiouse here, and many people who migrate to NYC internally do it for social and economic reasons. Particularly pre-pandemic, the gay and ballroom scenes were massive draws, and jobs in certain industries are concentrated here. Wealthy residents are catered to, and certain type of internal migrant/wealthy expat/wealthy immigrant is definitely catered to by legislation that favors gentrification and has made the city a playground for the rich. The city has intentionally eroded public housing, but it remains that a higher percentage of residents live in public housing, rent controlled apartments well-below market value or recieve housing subsidies here than nearly any other city in the country. People will get on public housing and section 8 waiting lists and leave the city or even country. To be here and to stay here is very tenuous for many multigenerational residents. Regardless, migration and immigrantion have been part of NYC since it began having a distinct culture towards the 1820's. Culture and social creation has never been the exclusive domain of people born here, and NYC is what it is because of born-residents, immigrants, internal migrants and being a center of cultural and social community that draws people from around the world. If it was just one of these things it wouldn't be NYC.

NYC is a place that feels disconnected from the (rest of) the USA and I think that the politicization of desire to be here will have implications exacerbated by the pandemic.

Re: nyc again:

Many wealthy people leave nyc because there isn't a great bang for your buck in the same way as other parts of the country. It's honestly a shitty and expensive place for the rich lmao.

And many poor/working class people come here bc of enviable renters protections, higher wages, and special education for disabled kids. In particular people come from within the eastern seaboard, New England and south for all of these things.

Thank you for another perspective! I am not from New York myself, so my perception of the city comes largely from the accounts of friends who are from NYC, and media, but just like with anywhere you can’t get a complete picture of what a place is like based on those two things.

I will say that a lot of what you’ve said here strongly contradicts my idea of what the city is like, some of which is based on personal experience. I considered a move to NYC at some point with an ex girlfriend (which, holy shit thank goodness that didn’t work out) and I have to say that in particular the idea of NYC as a place with “enviable renters protections [and] higher wages” specifically doesn’t square with what I saw when I researched those two things. Wages in NYC for work that doesn’t require degrees didn’t look good at all, and as far as renter’s protections go, my current understanding is that rent control is awesome but that landlords regularly engage in tenant harassment to pressure rent controlled tenants out of units and the city does almost nothing about it. The second is based more on recent articles I read and news pieces I watched about NYC, but the last time I looked at wages in NYC I was extremely unimpressed given the cost of housing alone, and when I was running the numbers for myself (this was maybe 2015ish) I came away not understanding how anyone could possibly afford to live in the city unless they 1) made a ton of money, in order to afford the outstanding rents, or 2) got into a rent-controlled apartment, which it seemed it was not easy to do unless you knew someone, like I did at the time, who was basically going to tell their landlord to hand you the lease. Obviously I��m not saying you’re wrong, just that I am very surprised to hear that anyone thinks of NYC as a place with genuinely solid rent protections and good wages, because the last time I looked it really did not seem like either of those was the case. If that is the case, that’s awesome and I am very glad to hear it. The story I was told by friends was largely one of intense, almost unbearable pressure from gentrification and jobs not paying nearly enough for the cost of living and being actively displaced by people who came to the city with an absurd amount of money to spend. So if that isn’t actually the case, that’s very very good news because I kind of had what I THINK of as contemporary NYC built up in my head as this horror story of the worst things that could happen to a city.

I also am not intimately familiar with the culture of NYC, but I have to say that I don’t think I agree with the idea that ‘ "native New Yorker" vs "transplant" is in many ways created as a way of sewing division’ because I don’t think that concept is unique at all to NYC- I certainly have a lot of a specific kind of pride in having been born and raised in Chicago, I and most other Chicagoans consider it genuinely offensive and rude when people who grew up in suburbs nearby tell people they are from Chicago, I and most other Chicagoans see ourselves, I would say, as a particular breed of people who share a particular kind of roots in this place, and I don’t think that pride is harmful or bad in any way. I would never tell someone that moving here is an evil thing to do- I consider roughly 10 years of residency to grant you the right to refer to yourself as a Chicagoan and not just a Chicago resident lol- or say that transplants to Chicago are categorically bad people. Half of that is just stupid cultural stuff, really, and shouldn’t be taken very seriously. But I don’t think the concept itself is bad. I have a fundamentally different relationship to Chicago than someone who grew up anywhere else and moved here, no matter how long they moved here, and I don’t think it is harmful at all to be open about and proud of that. I would never make the claim that transplants haven’t made massive contributions to the city, and I would assume most native New Yorkers wouldn’t make that claim about transplants to NYC.

Thank you for sharing your personal understanding of the situation there, and I am very surprised to hear that the proportion of residents in NYC who live in public or rent controlled housing is quite high, and glad to hear it. As needlessly aggressive as Chicagoans (myself included) can be when “New York” is even uttered aloud, I obviously have a lot of real respect for the city and I am glad to hear that it hasn’t just been mostly ruined in the way I had imagined it. This is a good lesson in taking any media you see about a place whose name will get clicks/engagement just by virtue of the aura of the place (New York, Chicago, San Francisco, etc) with several grains of salt. If I was only familiar with Chicago through media I’d think it was some super dangerous place when it definitely isn’t categorically.

everything eases back into normal. tk picks nolan up for practice, because nolan’s car is inexplicably always out of gas, (this is true, i read an article about it somewhere) and ties nolan’s ties for him on game days, and follows him into his living room to eat all the good snacks nolan hides on increasingly higher shelves.

“how did you even get those?” he asks when he comes out of the washroom and finds travis eating illegal all-dressed his mom had sent down in his last care package. he’s pretty sure they were hidden, like, on top of the cupboards this time. he literally had to throw them up there. (food, when you move countries, is a really big deal. i always want to keep the mutlicultural aspect of a lot of hockey players in mind, because i was a young multicutural person in the united states, and home foods is usually a good way to do it. all-dressed are pretty distinctly canadian, and my cousin gets her parents to send them to her in california, so i borrowed that from her. also i liked the image of TK climbing on the counters to try and get at a bag of chips.)

tk shrugs and crams a handful of chips into his mouth. “smart thinking.”

“those are mine.”

“i don’t see you eating them,” tk says smugly and nolan thinks about it for precisely point two seconds before he launches himself at the sofa. (no thoughts, head empty)

it’s a familiar ritual, this one. tk cackles, going limp so he can noodle off the cushions onto the floor, the bag still clamped in his hand. he scrabbles backwards until he’s out of reach of nolan’s admittedly long arms.

“sucks to suck, babe,” he gloats, except nolan is not emphatically giving up, those are his chips, and he’s not going to let his idiot of a best friend eat them all. tk grunts when nolan lands on his lower half, hard, and pins down his legs so he can’t escape. he sits on tk’s knees and ignores the yelling. (travis “has never shut up once in his life” konecny strikes again)

“mine,” he says savagely, snatching the bag out of his hands. tk huffs, shoving at his legs.

“it’s rude— not to— share— fuck, patty, what are you doing in the gym?”

“some of us don’t skip leg day.”

“yeah, well, some of us aren’t built like a fuckin’ ox,” tk complains, as if he’s not just as in shape as nolan is. “i can’t even fuckin’ pinch you because you’re wearing jeans.”

“now who’s the smart think—  fuck!” (not you, pat. not tk either but still not you.) he shouts, flinching and rubbing at his side. that pinch is definitely going to bruise. tk uses it as a distraction to roll them, nolan’s shoulders thudding painfully against the floor, and straddles nolan’s stomach with his thighs. there’s another struggle but tk gets hold of nolan’s arms, pins them under his knees so nolan’s fists are at his sides. he’s effectively trapped. (too many nolans but what do you do when writing m/m. also this isn’t specific to this scene, but especially in hockey with all its nicknames, i like to write people’s internal narrative with whatever name they probably think of themselves as. that’s why nolan isn’t pat/patty here, and why tk is usually not travis)

“still me,” tk says, grinning at him with undisguised glee. he works the chips free and sits up, putting his weight just under nolan’s ribs so all the breath gets knocked out of him for a second.

“fucker,” nolan hisses, trying and failing to wriggle his way out. “what the fuck, teeks?”

“that’s what you get for not growing up with brothers, bro. gotta fight to survive. survival skills.”

“bud, you don’t even know. sisters have nails and they’re not fucking afraid to use them,” nolan says, his best murder glare in effect. he probably still has the scars in some places. (i know i do) tk snorts.

“sorry, i don’t see you scratching me here,” he says.  

“let me go and i’ll scratch you up real good,” he threatens and then his brain catches up with his mouth, his face going red as he realises what he’s maybe implied. “uh.”

tk doesn’t take the obvious chirp, just raises an eyebrow. there’s a considering look on his face, one that makes nolan want to squirm more and it settles somewhere down deep in his stomach. (so i wrote this scene because i needed a turn for both of them, relationship-wise. iirc, there’s been a few places where tk’s interest might be noticeable, but nothing super concrete for pat or for the reader. meanwhile, on tk’s side, he needed clear signals that pat’s into him before he tries to tell him again.)

“uh,” he says again because his brain is just fucking offline and his arms are still locked under travis’ legs and travis burns hot because nolan can feel it against his skin, through his t-shirt, and this is all going to get incredibly, incredibly awkward in about three seconds. (unfortunately, i love a good run-on sentence to build tension) he’s pretty sure popping a boner because a teammate is sitting on you is, like, not something you can get away with by laughing.

tk shifts, sitting up the tiniest bit, and reaches out the hand that’s not currently occupied with the fuckin’ chips— probably all crushed to hell now, anyway (foreshadowing!! also strategic last mention here so we know that tk is still holding them, and then they aren’t mentioned until the shoe drops for optimal dramatic effect) — and brushes his fingers against nolan’s cheek. he traces the blush from his cheekbone carefully down his neck, pausing to thumb at his jaw, and then bumps his fingers against his collar, where it disappears down into his shirt. (i really liked building the tension here. also this is fully just projection bc i would love to touch patty’s blush once in my life)

“you’re glowing, pat,” he says, so soft, and it makes nolan go redder. he glowers at a spot by tk’s ear, unwilling to look him in the face and see whatever is written there. (would tk actually tell nolan he’s glowing? probably not, but fictionally it gives the reader a good picture of what nolan looks like to someone else. i didn’t want to overuse red-- which didn’t quite feel like a strong enough word-- or blush, so glowing it was.) tk hooks his index into the collar and there’s a moment when nolan thinks he’s going to pull it down, see if his blush goes all the way down his chest— it does, if he’s embarrassed enough. it’s fucking terrible— and he turns his head away, dragging in a breath through his nose. he’s, like, so incredibly fucked that he can’t even think about it without going dizzy. (you’ll probably see this a lot if you look for it in my writing, but i like to add in a “like” or something similarly bro-ish when things get particularly emotionally fraught, to keep it more realistic. also i think it’s funny. anyway, i like the contrast of tk not being able to take his eyes away from something he wanted and nolan not being able to look at it. characterisation, wahey!) it’s better to just not look.

of course, it’s the exact opposite of what tk wants.

“hey,” he says. “look at me.”

nolan refuses, a muscle ticking in his jaw. (this is hot to me idc) tk lets go of his collar to pull on his hair instead, just a little tug of a piece by his ear, and nolan can’t quite bite back the punched-out sound that he lets out. (also hot.)

“look at me,” tk says again, an edge to his voice, and nolan does. tk won’t stop until he does, he knows that well enough. (another look at their dynamic and how well they know each other) he lifts his chin, just a tiny bit, because he’s not going to do anything without a fight. tk’s hand tightens in his hair and it keeps him in place, nailed— ha— to the floor. (i write for the people whose brains make inappropriate jokes at the wrong moments) he couldn’t move if he wanted to, watches helplessly as tk leans down.

the hope in his chest is so thick, nolan thinks it might actually smother him, stop his heart. he’s breathing fast and shallow, almost on the verge of panting, and jesus fuck, isn’t that embarrassing. he’s so desperate, he could squirm with it and he briefly remembers travis months ago, writhing on his very rug and how much nolan wanted to help. he can smell snow again, sharp in the back of his nose. (this does the double work of calling back to an earlier scene-- ya girl loves a good callback-- and also building the anticipation some more. the snow reference reminds the reader that this is still a werewolf au, even in the midst of this. also, once when i was like fifteen, i read something about how to write kisses/romance and it talked about picking one or two aspects of the kiss to focus on-- breathing, hands, the feeling of someone’s mouth, etc. i still use that advice.)

tk shifts his weight and nolan has enough time to think holy fuck, is this happening? before travis fucking konecny upends the bag of all dressed-flavoured crumbs all over his face. (OKAY a lot going on here! it’s one of my favourite moments, really. first of all, here’s the resolution of all the chips talk! sure, i could’ve just abandoned them, but the subverting of expectations was a lot more fun and the story still wasn’t quite ready for them to kiss yet. second, this is tk chickening out. he had two choices and he chose violence. or, like, the buddies option, which is amusing to me because this is not buddies, boys. finally, the full name was necessary to convey nolan’s disappointment and anger, as was the full description of the chips. nolan is upset, and he’s going to notice these things, and that shows up in his internal narrative.)

“got ‘em,” he crows over nolan’s sputtering, letting himself get bucked off onto the floor. nolan wipes furiously at his face, all his feelings a confusing mix of horny and angry and confused, all with the thick overtone of humiliation.

“you’re a fucking dick,” he says and it’s flat, but tk is gloating too much to care. (he’s not, he’s trying to cover, but nolan’s too embarrassed to realise)

“you should’ve seen your face, pat.”

nolan glares daggers at the carpet, the chips spread out everywhere. it’s going to be a bitch to clean up. tk had better help. (makes sure the punch landed, and to give a final resolution.)

he leans against the sofa and waits for tk to tire himself out, listening to the laughter and trying not to get too angry or, like, cry. his neck feels hot, prickling uneasily. he rubs at it with his hand, startles when tk kicks him gently in the ankle. (in order for tk to not come out of this looking like an asshole, i needed him to make up his obliviousness by being observant in other times. and in order for tk to notice patty being mad, i needed to give patty actions that could be noticed, like not laughing along with the joke)

“sorry if i made you mad,” tk says quietly, all the giggles finally worked out of him. “you looked tense (no shit bud) and i thought it would make you laugh.”

it’s not tk’s fault nolan thought he was gonna, like, kiss him. (”like” again, to break up a too-honest moment) it was a dick move but tk doesn't have a cruel bone in his body, so: “it’s fine,” he mumbles and shrugs his shoulder. “it was funny.”

tk preens for a second. “i know.”

“you owe me a bag now.”

“i’ll buy you a family-sized pack. i’m sure they’ll ship it down here, amazon or ups or somethin’.” (patty’s attempting to be normal and tk is attempting to make amends.)

nolan nods and scratches at his face, tipping his head against the couch cushions. (little motions like him scratching his face aren’t super necessary for like plot or development, but it helps humanize characters and i like to add them in whenever i can, as long as it’s not overkill. they can also be helpful in pointing to emotional state without directly saying it.) it’s quiet for a few seconds, just the sound of them breathing heavier than usual, and it would be so normal. should be normal, by all counts, but nolan still kind of wants to crawl into a hole for while. wants to push tk out of the apartment and eat ice cream and google ‘how to stop a crush,’ like his sisters used to do when they were upset. he’s already googled it, a few days ago, and there was nothing but maybe someone’s offered good advice since then. (people make an impact on you, and family even more so, and i always like reminders of how close nolan seems to be with his sisters. also, it’s funny.)

tk flicks him on the wrist. (this is something that tk does consistently through the story, and even though it’s not super important to this scene, it establishes a behaviour in the larger story. that’s important too!)

“pat,” he says and it sounds it’s not the first time. nolan blinks.

“yeah?”

“i just asked you if you were hungry.”

“oh. uh. no, not really,” he answers truthfully. tk wrinkles his nose.

“do you, like, have anything in your fridge to eat?”

“mm, probably not.”

“typical,” tk mutters under his breath, as if he ever has anything regularly stocked besides protein powder and bacon. (protein rich foods that are easy to eat after a full moon, or after a workout) at least nolan has eggs pretty consistently. (also a protein rich food that’s less easy to eat after a full moon, but are easy to make when you aren’t a werewolf) “wanna go get sushi?”

nolan thinks about it. shoves his sweaty hair behind his ear and considers going out to their favourite place and pretending he’s not still fucking mortified. and, like, a little turned on. it makes him nauseous. (i get such physical reactions to emotional things that i write everyone into having them) 

“no,” he says. he’s not facing tk but he can still see him deflate, his shoulders hunching over. “i don’t— no.”

“okay. that’s… okay.”

“i think i’m getting a migraine,” lies nolan. “think i’m just gonna lay down.”

“do you need me to stay with you? keep you company?”

nolan’s shaking his head before tk even finishes the thought. “no, trav. i’m fine, i promise.” (the trav here works as a signal that something isn’t right! it’s why tk looks at him for so long in the next line.)

tk studies him for a long minute, his eyes searching the side of patty’s face presented to him. nolan keeps his expression as blank as possible and stares hard at his feet.

“text me if you need anything,” he says finally, the words coming out slow and gentle. it’s a lot to handle. “i’ll come back.”

“i know. i will.” he won’t, but that’s not for tk to know. he doesn’t move when tk goes out the door, squeezes his eyes shut when the door doesn’t slam into its frame, (tk’s taking care of him, still!) and decides to leave the pile of crumbs to deal with later. (the climax of this scene happened a while ago so this is another little reminder of what happened, just so it’s solidified in the reader’s head after the longish comedown. i end scenes a LOT like this-- two actions, and then a callback-- because they’re simple and effective, and usually sound great!)  /fin

ahh thank you so much for asking!! this was really fun to, like, process through and remember my logic for! i was actually really nervous writing this scene, because i knew the tension and the break had to be PERFECT for it to land right. but i do like how it turned out so at least there’s that. ily!!

evie EXCELLED in school, straight a’s, top of her class, honors, ap valedictorian, which meant all nighters, nose bleeds at 2am from studying too hard, looking dead walking through the hallways, eating ramen 25/8, falling asleep w her face in her textbooks, getting bullied a lot for being a nerd and Not looking like her sisters and like...the creature from the black lagoon.

her parents, understandably, were not very happy with this but it wasn’t until she wanted to go to medical school that her parents were like FURIOUS. to them, women, esp the princesses, were only supposed to get married, have kids, THAT WAS IT. so evie wanting to be a doctor enraged them. STAY MAD!

they tried to have her engaged SO. MANY. TIMES. but she has a really repellent personality, she’s very kat stratford from 10 things i hate about you. and is rude and states her very liberal very socialist opinions often, dresses sloppy and hurts mens feelings a lot just for fun so they all went rUNNING from those match appointments! her parents literally are losing their minds they don’t know what to do w her theyre like god why did we give birth to the aNTICHRIST!?!?!?

not wanting anything to do with her parents, evie got into college and medical student on scholarship based on her own merit and skill. evie went to the seoul national university for 4 years then did a 2 year residency at the country’s top hospital, becoming one of the best on call heart surgeons there.

the korean media likes to clown on her A LOT! bc shes scary and angry and cares very little abt her appreance is A DOCTOR and not a princess really for the opposite reason they clown on dianna but evie does not really care she doesn’t care abt impressing people, just saving lives and proving people wrong. finger guns

but yes! thats what u missed on glee. evie was a heart surgeon in korea before being shipped off to thailand! shes v salty by the way ... even more than usual.

AN- so it’s the World Cup and I thought I should write something. Don’t worry I’m still writing Psych 101 I just thought I should only upload 2 chapters a week so I dont finish it too quickly. Also the quality of the story is a lot better if I’m not updating daily. (Y sí hablo español. Taeyong- “He’s a soccer player and the other team cheats so he gets into a fight” (Uruguay)

Uruguay has won only 1 World Cup and today are the semifinals. Your boyfriend and his team have worked their butts off to get here and are determined to get into the finals. The first round they are in the lead by 2 points. In the second round the opposing team catches up with them. But Uruguay maintains their stamina has most possession of the ball. Everyone is sure they’ll pull through and break the tie. The other team though was also hellbent on getting into the finals. When Taeyong dribbles the ball and passes it to his teammate who is about to score, multiple players from the other team bombard and steal the ball from him. Tae snaps. While the ref is blowing the whistle and taking the ball from the other team Tae runs up to one of the players and shoves him down. “What the hell man”?! “It’s not my fault you can’t take a little dirty play”. Tae gets on top of him and starts punching him. You, sitting with the subs, run out on field to get your boyfriend. “Tae! Please get off him! You’ll kill him”! Your usually sweet and passive boyfriend angry is already bad enough but you know with the added stress of winning and extra hard training he’s deadly. He hears your voice and stops to look at you. You pull him off the guy with help from his teammates who were watching in sidelines just as shocked as everyone else. The two of you go into the locker room where he can calm down. You rub his back let him lay in the crook of your neck. After everyone settles down the officials decide the other team is disqualified but Tae will not compete in the finals.

Taeil- “Your team lost against Korea he’s bragging” (Denmark)

You knew by the end of the first half Denmark was done for. The score was already 5 nothing and you knew Korea hadn’t gotten started yet. Every attempt Denmark made at a goal Korea deflected it and your boyfriend cheering and celebrating wasn’t making it any better. You roll your eyes when Korea seamlessly scores 3 more goals by the end of the game. Taeil points and laughs at you. “Y/n did you see that? It would’ve been better if Denmark didn’t show at all”. He’s literally rolling on the floor dying of laughter. You straddle his waist and bang on chest, “Shut up Taeil I get it your team is so much better than mine. No one cares”. You get off him and storm into the room you guys share. You weren’t really mad you just hated that he had to brag about it. You would’ve been fine taking your L in peace. A moments later your boyfriend comes through the door seeing you pouting. “Hey baby” He sits a couple feet away from you not wanting to make you even more mad. “You know I was just kidding. I love seeing you pouty. You look so adorable”. “Whatever” you mumble. He tackles you with a hug and kisses all over your face. “Babyyyyy I love you!!!! Stop being mad and let love youuuuuu”!!!! You let out a sigh and let him continue with a tiny smile on your face.

Johnny- “You guys dress up to support your team” (Morocco)

Johnny knows how much you love the World Cup. Growing up, whenever it came one it was the center of your household. This is your first fifa away from home and Johnny wants it to be just as special. He surprises you with tickets to see your country, Morocco, play. The day of the game Johnny buys face paint and matching jerseys of your favorite player, Mbark Boussoufa. He paints your face the color of the flag and you his. “Thank you so much for this Johnny. This is so sweet”! He kisses your nose before he spray dyes your hair, “You know I would do anything for you baby”.

Yuta- “You guys lowkey beef bc your teams are competing against each other” (Senegal)

When you saw Japan and Senegal would compete you knew that your apartment would be filled with an unspoken tension. You both are very prideful when it comes to your countries and take this very seriously. The day of the game he invites over 6 of the guys over to watch. During the match they feel the unbearable tension and watch you two as you both intensely watch the tv screen not saying a word. When the winner is announced let’s just say one of you had to leave that’s how bad it was.

Kun- “He’s a soccer player and losses a game and gets upset” (Peru)

Peru got annihilated. They fought hard and gave it all they had but they were no match for France. When your boyfriend walks off the field with his head hung your heart breaks. You let him go into the locker and change while you wait in the car. He comes about 15 minutes silent. You take off your seatbelt and climb over the center console into his lap. You hug him tight and he nudges his head in the crook of your neck and sobs. “It’s all my fault I should’ve ran fast or guarded my teammates or-” “Kun,baby, it’s not your fault. You’re part of a team. You play together, you win together and you lose together. It’s not all on you. And it’s just this one game you still have a game next week and look how far you’ve made it. You made it onto Peru’s national soccer team and you guys qualified for the cup. America couldn’t even do that”. He chuckles a little and you continue to rub his back. “You gave it your all baby that’s all that matters. You poured your whole heart onto that field. I’m so proud of everything you are and have become”. He lifts his head up and kisses you softly. He pulls back and mumbles against your lips, “Thank you for being there for me. I don’t deserve you”.

Doyoung- “He’s a soccer player and gets injured” (Belgium)

He’s running to get the ball when he suddenly collapses. His teammates see him and pause for a second but know that if they lose possession of the ball for even a second it’s over for them. You, on the other hand, see that he’s down and hop up. “Someone go help him he’s hurt”! The paramedics rush out to get him and you run to his side. He’s groaning in pain and agony. “I’m right here baby don’t worry. Just relax”. You get into the ambulance with him and they rush you guys to the hospital. There you are told that he tore his ACL and would need surgery. Him being doped up on morphine to kill the pain doesn’t really comprehend the situation; you do though. He won’t be able to compete for the rest of the cup and probably be off for a season. That’s all if everything goes smoothly. If the tear is worse than they predicted he could possibly never play soccer again. You know that when he becomes aware of his predicament he’ll be devastated. You sob in your half conscious boyfriend’s lap and just pray everything goes well.

Ten- “Your team won you brag about it (vs Korea)”(Mexico)

“GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!” You scream as you run around your apartment’s living room. Mexico just nailed Korea in their coffin with the final score 6-3. Your boyfriend though doesn’t mind. He sits back and watches you prance around screaming. He loves watching you get so excited and act like a child. That’s the only reason he even watches this. He couldn’t care less whether or not Korea wins. “I WON!! MY COUNTRY BEAT YOURS!! HOW DOES IT FEEL LOSER??” You hop onto his lap and bounce around. He smiles at you lovingly, “Amazing. Simply amazing sweetheart”.

Jaehyun- “Your teams are tied” (Sweden)

You both were on the edge of your seat. Sweden and Korea are tied 4-4 with 3 minutes left on the clock. Before the game you both decided that whoever’s team lost had to get the other person head. You love giving your boyfriend head just as much as he loves giving you head but your competitive sides aren’t allowing it. The ball is in your possession your team is dribbling the ball to the goal. You’re sure your team has won the game. That is until they completely miss giving the ball to Jaehyun’s team. You’re screaming and cursing while he’s laughing and clapping loudly. Korea dribbles the ball to their side and scores a the last minute. “You know what you have to do babygirl” he smirks and puts his hand behind his head. You sigh and roll your eyes but gladly tie your hair back and get on your knees.

Winwin- “He gets really into the game” (Nigeria)

You didn’t care for sports. Never have and probably never will. Your boyfriend though loves sports. When the World Cup started you were not looking forward to hearing him and his buddies screaming at the tv. You usually go to your bedroom watch a movie, sleep or go out when sports in general are played in your home but today you decide to watch. You surprise him by sitting next to him and his friends on the coach.Your boyfriend’s favorite team, Nigeria, is playing today so you know it will be extra loud today. As the match starts your surprised that this isn’t half as bad as you thought. The real show though was watching your boyfriend intensely watch the screen, clench his jaw and yell every so often.

Jungwoo- “Your team misses a goal and you curse in your language” (Costa Rica)

You grew up with soccer and fifa being the pride of your country. Every 4 years it was mandatory to tune into the World Cup and cheer on Costa Rica. This year when they make it into the semifinals you lose it. You start thinking they might actually win this year and this only makes your hopes and expectations for your team to grow. For the entire match Costa Rica holds their own. They maintain a score to keep up with their competitor and currently have possession of the ball. All they need it one more goal and they’re off to the finals. They move to take the shoot but go over the goal. “PINCHE PUTA” You exclaim. Your boyfriend, in the kitchen, hears you and comes into the living. “Baby?” He asks trying not to laugh. He doesn’t speak Spanish nor does he comprehend it well but he knew a swear when he heard one. You hardly swear but you do it’s always a delight to him. “I’m sorry Jungwoo. It’s just that we were so close”. He walks over to you and sits down on the sofa. You lie down in his lap and allow him to rub your hair. “I know baby. I know” he chuckles to himself.

Lucas- “He plays soccer and makes a winning shot” (Egypt)

Lucas has trained extremely hard to be where he is now. Late nights and early mornings got him here to the finals and you couldn’t be prouder. You watch from the sidelines as your boyfriend is out on the field hustling. His love and passion for the sport is one of your favorite things about him. Seeing him sprint back and forth across the field causes you to have to fan yourself even though you’re just watching. He looks so good when he’s sweaty and completely focused on something. Egypt is tied with their opponent when Lucas is passed the ball. You immediately jump out of your seat. He dribbles the ball down the field and makes a corner shot. You and the crowd go wild. He just won his team the World Cup. You laugh and even cry a bit as you see him run across the field screaming and cheering for himself and his team. You know he deserves the win more than anything. After the game ends you both run into each and you give him the most passionate kiss you can muster. “I’m so proud of you baby! You did amazing”. He smiles down at you and kisses you back with twice the passion you gave him. After games ,especially wins, Lucas is always a bit excited. You know that the two of you are about to enjoy a long delightful night.

Mark- “His team wins so you get mad at him” (Portugal)

It’s the long anticipated game. Portugal VS Spain. You are rooting for your home country Spain and your boyfriend Mark is going for Portugal, probably just to defy you. You both are completely immersed in the game watching to see which great nation will win this epic battle. At the end of the 1st half the score is 4-0 and you like many others feel like Spain will win hands down. That is until 2nd half Portugal decides to actually bring the heat surprising everyone. Portugal ends up winning 4-6 and you can’t believe it. “You cheated it's your fault my team lost! You did something didn’t you? This isn’t the real game is it? This is rigged!” You accuse. Mark just laughs at you, “Baby I’m sitting right here next to you watching the game too. How could I have done anything”? You roll your eyes and turn your back to him. You refuse to believe anything he has to say. Mark knows what you’re doing. You’re ignoring him. He finds it absolutely adorable that you can’t accept the fact that your team lost. He smiles to himself as you pout and don’t even look at him.

1. How long have you been writing?

Actually sitting down to type stories out? Eight years old. I've been making shit up since I could talk. I have it on good authority I am entertaining to listen to.

2. What are the major themes of your current wip(s)? LONG ANSWER

omg I really dont know. I spent several hours over several days banging on this question in my head both in front of the computer and away from it only to come to the horrified realisation that I Don't Know. *gay panic*

I know the things I like to write about. I like to write about free exchange of culture, of mutual respect and fraternity with your fellow humans (which leads to themes of unity, unconditional love not only of people but of the world, and the gray area of what it means to protect those things without giving in to hate, indifference and intolerance. THE GRAY AREA IS WHERE I THRIVE.)

I like to write about intergenerational relationships (which leads to themes of obsolescence, changing of the guard, and how people, in general, not individuals, never really change. Like, there's For a Good Time graffiti on the walls at Pompeii. That is HILARIOUS.)

I write a lot about family, both born and found. (Everybody has a place and everybody is loved.) I write about mental illness and being queer (which all by itself leads to themes of not knowing your place in the world even if you have one. Frequently comes up against the previously mentioned theme)

So yeah. I don't know. My big WIP, the Aalee Rise series, is about a young woman on the cusp of adulthood going out into the world for the first time. It's her idealism vs reality. The other main characters in that cast are all foils re: various facets of societal structure and ideologies. One challenges her idea of government, another her idea of religion. She falls in love, her loyalties to her brother and parents are tested, she makes mistakes, she fights monsters and saves the world. A lot.

tldr; It's my sandbox and I just wanted to build castles in it. I don't really know if the castles will mean anything when I'm done. I hope they do.

3. What do you want people to take away from your story once they’ve read it?

My greatest ambition is that I could ever write a hero as beloved as the heroes I read about growing up, figures that reminds not to give up hope, to get back up when we're down, that the dark times ahead of us will come to pass.

At best, if I've done that, I'll be ecstatic and satisfied.

At worst, as long as you had a good time, if you didn't throw the book across the room in disgust, I'll take it.

4. Would you be excited if people write fanfiction about your wip(s)?

YAAAAS. I would literally never read it because Im terrified of accidentally absorbing someone's ideas and making them my own bc Christ alive that's a legal nightmare, but yes that would make my life.

5. What’s your go-to writing beverage?

Tea. Really strong and sweet. I make a fresh quart each morning and usually go through it by the end of day.

6. Who is your favorite oc? Tell me about them!

OMG ALL OF MY CHILDREN ARE PRECIOUS. (it's Aalee.)

Aalee Dering is the eighteen-year-old protagonist of my Aalee Rise series.  When we meet her in volume one (Worldwalk) she and her twin brother are setting off on their coming-of-age journey around the country. Her people, the Noruahai, have defended humanity for generations from unearthly creatures called asmic, and if she wants to become a licensed Marshal like her famous mother (and wow, she really, really does) she'll have to prove herself on her Worldwalk.

Aalee thinks with her heart first and always. She loves beautiful things, and all things are beautiful to her. She's quick to cry and struggles with anger, as well as distraction; she has trouble keeping focus. Good for getting into trouble. Not so good when it comes to being a responsible adult.

It would probably be easier if she wasn't of two minds on every single decision she has to make. She empathises with everyone, which can be paralysing-- how can she fight someone whose point of view she gets?

7. Do you feel that mistakes are important learning tools in the writing journey?

Mistakes are learning tools of life, darling. In writing they generally aren't the types that will destroy friendships, health, financial status, etc, which means they're generally easier to bounce back from. Unless you commit career suicide in some way...

8. Rank your ocs by their capability in a footchase (either running after or from smth, your choice)

1. Fall from the Aalee Rise series. He's a complicated human. Without getting into the context of the world he's from, he's hard to explain; but the short version is he's half-ghost so he can basically turn himself into the wind.

2. Rosie Frey from Color of the Stars but only when she's a lion. In her human form she's pretty normal.

3. Lynn Blythe (or any of the other vampires) from Echoes of Eden, because they're cheating cheaterfaces who use mystical vampy powers to be stronger and faster than humans

4. Sendmarshal Henley from the Aalee Rise series. Probably the fastest regular human. Imagine the most beautiful, tall, leggy black woman you can, all lean muscle and elegant grace, and now imagine her scooping you up and zipping out of danger with an easy smile on her face... *fans self* I stan.

5. When running headlong into danger to save someone? Aalee Dering. When running away? Frustratingly, satirically slow. She's one of those idiot heroes who stops to make sure everyone got away okay so Fall's always running back to grab her ("MOVE, IDIOT" "But that little old lady--" "FIRE-BREATHING MONSTERS. MOVE.")

9. Does your wip have romance? tell me about it!! if not tell me about a friendship/important relationship in your wip!! MORE LENGTHY BLAH

Relationships are the driving force of my writing. How one loves or is loved by other people, how they relate and engage with others, is how one grows, in real life and in fiction. There are a number of relationships in all my series that I'm fond of for various reasons. (For instance, even though she cannot STAND him, I'm eager af to write Eden and Lynn's relationship in Echoes of Eden because of how complicated it is.)

And as a rule all of my characters are queer or questioning unless otherwise stated, and I ship everybody with basically everybody else, and almost everybody has a love story in their history. (at least, their parents certainly do because I am a gross vile romantic and these fuckers came from somewhere.)

That having been said, for the sake of brevity I'll stick with Aalee Rise and limit myself to the Big Three: Aalee and her brother Elles, Aalee and her best friend Norah, and Aalee and Fall.

FAMILY: Aalee and Elles are twins. Born together and never separated, which stands out in a world where families are broken up by chaotic circumstances and random death on a regular basis. Aalee is easily distracted and has difficulty communicating her thoughts, so she tends to act on impulse; Elles is forever the cool head and the hand grabbing her by the back of the shirt to stop her from walking into danger. And after eighteen years of this... he's tired of it. He loves his sister, but he longs to see the world on his own terms, walk his own path. And Aalee doesn't share that sentiment. Not only doesn't share it, but is blown away when it comes into play. Her partner in crime wants to break away, and she does not take it very well. The first volume (Worldwalk) explores how their relationship suffers, grows, and changes due to this break.

FRIEND: Aalee's best friend of ten years is Norah. They met as little girls in a monster-ravaged town; Norah was entertaining the youngest orphans with a story and Aalee joined in. The pair of them spent a long night keeping civilians from panicking while Marshals battled asmic beyond the walls of the bunker. They exchanged addresses and became penpals over the next few years, since both of their parents travelled and they were rarely in the same place at the same time. That changed suddenly when Norah lost her father. Since then, Norah's family and Aalee's have lived in the same town. Norah is her warm hand in the dark, her shoulder to cry on, the first person she tells any good news. for Norah, Aalee is the only person (at the beginning of the story, anyway) with whom she can be her real whole self. They love each other no matter what.

ROMANCE: And then there's Fall. Aalee meets Fall when she rescues him from being murdered in a back alley-- except, oops, turns out it was a sting operation to catch the killer because he's not actually the helpless filthy vagabond she assumed he was; he's actually a powerful Marshal who was on assignment. Stuck together for various reasons, he becomes a mentor to her on her worldwalk, while she blatantly digs into the mystery of who he is, which turns out to complicate their lives, the lives of their friends and families, randos they happens across, their enemies, and also God's. To say they fall in love with each other is an understatement of cosmic proportions. They choose each other.

10. Do you believe in the advice kill your darlings?

Yeah but I take the advice as intended; which is not, as most assume, kill your fave characters, but to get rid of that which does not work, even if you love it. That pearlescent line of dialogue, or that golden bit of allegory? Doesn't matter how much you love it and how proud of it you are, if it does. not. work. it HAS. TO. GO. (save it in a new file to reread when you feel down and scrap that shit from the main file.)

that said re: killing characters, in my youth I was very much of the George RedRum Martin camp of "KILL THEM ALL" but as Ive gotten older my main focal point has been "What purpose does their death serve?" Death is not the only sacrifice worth writing. So while I am not afraid to kill my characters, I do take the nature of their deaths in the writing very seriously. There has to be a point.

11. Do you prefer plotting or worldbuilding? Why?

WORLDBUILDING MANYEXCLAMATIONPOINTSGOHERE! Plotting is like the maths of writing. It's measurement, it's brickwork, it's demolition when the wall you put up last week is three feet too long and now you have to scrap it and start over. Vital. But not my favorite part.

Worldbuilding is the art. It's the music your OCs hum and the stories that they treasure and the faith that holds them up when the crap you throw at them might tear them down. It's the story behind the jacket they wear and it's the reason they nod to the altar when they enter a place of worship and it's the meaning of their names. It's the magic. How the world works, the little details that make it real to the reader because it's real for your characters, is my favorite part of writing.

[The Rules of Exile] Rule No. 10 You Don't Get to Be My Last Great Whatever

Queen Catherine of Aragon was sent into exile because she had the nerve to be aging and menopausal.  A popular legend in that particular histo-mythic cycle is that Henry sent her away (sometimes, with Cromwell to do his dirty work for him because that was the kind of stand up guy he's remembered as) without saying good bye.  She was once married to his older brother Arthur in a castle in the wild but Arthur got sweating sickness and died.  They were only married to each other for a short time.  She then had her first encounter with exile where she lived somewhat modestly (again, accounts vary depending on the histo-mythic teller) and supposedly bargained for fish and sold her plate while her dad and her ex father in law dawdled over what to do with her.  Her father was a war monger with a bunch of kids, he had no problem waiting.  Her ex father in law held his country in a tight fist, he had been exiled so many times by his mother (Lady Margaret Beaufort) that he too could wait.  Neither appeared to find this particularly cruel, and neither did a seasoned politico warrior like Lady M.  Like . . .I get stressed out not knowing what's going to happen in a day while still being aware of certain potential outcomes.  I don't know how stressful it is to not know what country you're going to live in and/or who you'll be married to.  Queen Cat's ex father in law drops dead and she is married off to Henry for almost twenty years when she receives the message, u had too many ded babies, lulz.  super soz.  going 2 marry anne bc babies + she is way hot.  she will only put out if i put a ring on it. thx for nearly twenty years of marriage!  Best of luck or whatever.  Or, you know, no message past whatever Cromwell tried to piece together.  Whatever the medieval royal equivalent of dipping out of a pack of cigs was.

She died in exile a little into Queen Anne's reign, with only a few of her ladies and servants.  Sometimes the wheel (of fortune) is in your favor, sometimes it's not.  It was for a long time for Queen Cat, but then she never planned for Queen Anne. Partly because I don't think anyone, even someone who had headed a battle with Scotland like Queen Cat did, could have planned for Queen Anne.

Sometimes, the hardest part of exile is the people we have been exiled from.  Either by our choice or theirs (sometimes both).  Parents, siblings, friends, lovers, spouses, family, whole courts if you are particularly un/lucky and everyone else is either on the other person's side because they tell a better version of your story than you do or you weren't much beloved to begin with or the other person has too much power over the others for them to rise up for you.  Even Mary, Queen of Scots usually couldn't get the North (of England) to rise up for her and she was hella glam and hella Catholic (appealing traits to her target demo).

There is nothing more painful than this part of exile, Sister Queens.  It's too soon for revenge because you will not be thoughtful enough or have the means to plan that properly.  Your heart is a wasteland and everywhere you go, you know everyone knows something about you but you can only guess at what.  During this time often, your position at court has been forfeited, your rank and title is called into question along with your deeds and those still associated with you, your goods are often seized and people now consider if they would like to associate with you because they will be associated with you.  This has ever been the struggle, even in this modern life as (often) landless Queens - at work, in your family life, in your social circles, in your creative life and in your spiritual life.  A boss has turned against you, a break up that causes a fracture in your circles, side choosing over social issues, scandal and gossip that you were involved in.  To bring it down real low (like reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllllll low), Vicki on Real Housewives of the OC is currently in exile due to her exboyfriend Brooks who was involved in a cancer scandal that she was at the very least, complicit in.  In turn, I'm positive that she was not only exiled from her realty television faux friends, but also likely saw repercussions in her business and in her professional career, at the very least.  Possibly within her family and social groups as well because even though everyone knows reality television isn't particularly real, it's hard to know where that shred of truth in the lie resides.

How do you survive in that trying time when the people in your life are choosing alliances?  How do you survive when a lover has played you false and now is flaunting their new whatever for all the world and you to see?  How do you get through when you have been exiled from your coven?  How do you go on when your coven exiles you?  What do you do when an event or social group that once loved you has turned against you?

A note, to a Sister Queen who has recently felt the sting of exile from an ex-lover:

As you know, my thought process on these kinds of events are filtered through figuring out patterns and lessons and possible and probable outcomes because that's just so my world view.  While I certainly take some time to reflect before moving on, I find that the Universe (with me) is generally like, Here's another whatever you just lost.  Fuck that guy.  So I'm at a point in life where I trust that will happen in a reasonable time frame.  But another core part of me (besides grudgingly trusting in the Universe) is like, Fuck.  You.  You don't get to be my last whatever.  You don't get that kind of power.  You don't get that kind of power over me.  I will replace you because I can replace everything and I will burn everything in the process if I have to.  Every.  Thing.

Obviously, if you know me at all, you know I value those in my life, but I also know that everything has a season blahblahblahturnwhatever.  Everyone could die, everyone could leave, every relationship could break, every event could end, every group could break apart.  So, like, when you know that and you've been through that a few times, you value what you have when you have it but you also have in the back of your head what you would do if you lost those things.

In terms of practical advice, I would suggest you branch out and try to find other events/groups/lovers/friends and to figure out what part you played in your own exile story (as that is a key factor) so you can mend what you can mend and move forward in a better direction with finding new wishes, hopes and dreams.  Talk to trusted advisers for their opinions of the events that led to your exile, figure out a game plan to get yourself back to court or deeper into exile, whatever your preference.  I will forever be Lady Jane Rochford to my complete despair, she managed to get exiled from court during Queen Anne due to being her sister in law (and testified against Anne and her brother George, claiming they were sleeping together, leaving them both beheaded) but when she was offered a position back at court two Queens later, she jumped at the chance and that's how she lost her head right alongside Queen Katherine (yes, another - this one was sixteen and sleeping with boys her own age, how dare she).  I can't stay away from the game, not like Lady Mary did (Anne's sister, Henry's former mistress - she married a nobody and stayed in the countryside where it was safe and died of natural causes and possibly boredom).  I am forever working my way back to court and onto better courts.  If you read me, that's probably you too.

Fine, we have you settled into fixing your situation practically.  Now let's get to the exciting part.  The part that requires sorcery.

If you've ever bothered to read my book, you know that planning your ritual is key.  Where will you have it?  Why?  What will you wear?  Why?  What day/time will you do it?  Why?  Who will you work with?  Why?  What does your crown mean to you?  Why?  What flowers are sacred to you?  Why?  What liquid is sacred to you?  Why?  Which Tarot deck will you use?  Why?  There are no wrong answers, only lazy answers.  If you are not being lazy, you are not wrong.  You know when you are being lazy.

Arrange your electric candles or string lights into a circle big enough for you to do your work.  Pour salt water into one bowl.  Arrange the lavender and rose quartz into the other bowl.  Arrange your small shrine to your goddess(es) along with the candle and offering.  Ask for her/their blessing to guide your hand during this work.  Use words that are meaningful to you.  Pour sacred liquid into chalice.  Put the myrrh on the charcoal.  Anoint yourself with the smoke.  Wash your hands, your third eye and the top of your head in the salt water.  Then, say:

Start making your floral crown.  If you are like me, you have literally spent more than half your life making them and have taught diy workshops on the matter.  This is no big deal.  If you're not like me, watch the Youtube video in the link and maybe do a practice one first.  Spend the time making your crown singing songs that are meaningful to your Queenship, trancing or meditating on your Queenship.

Rest your crown over the bowl of rose quartz and lavender.  Put your hands on your crown.  Repeat:

First thing first. Making a new post because of how insanely long the other one is. I apologize for not replying sooner. I will attempt to be civil with you here because you obviously put a lot of work writing this.I also won’t reply to every single topic but I will try to cover what the main points are.

First we must define Assault Rifle. An Assault rifle is capable of automatic fire, uses detachable magazines, uses an intermediate cartridge, and is used in the act of assault. Assault is a verb. A comb can be an assault comb if you attack someone with it. Intermediate cartridges are rather low powered. The rounds themselves are pretty bad at killing Human sized animals because of this. The M16 when first used in the Vietnam was hated by soldiers because it would poke holes in the enemy while the M14(which used a much stronger, heavier bullet) would kill a man in 1 or 2 shots(more on this later). Automatic weapons are extremely regulated in America. More regulated than all guns in Australia and Britain and most countries you are likely to see cited for their gun crime rates. Unpaid parking tickets, unpaid child support, a pending trial, a divorce, and even being put on trial and found innocent are all possible ways to be kept from owning an Automatic weapon. Many things can result in your weapon being taken away. You must always have the physical license from the ATF with the gun at all times. You can’t have it in the car in the parking lot when you are at the gun range. The ATF can inspect your house and take it away for no reason. You must have an approved gun dealer in your will who will take possession and usually destroy the gun when you die. You must destroy the gun under certain circumstances. An AR 15 is not an assault rifle. An M4 or M16 used in combat is.

Let me explain why the AR 15 is one of the best guns for self defense.

This is 5.45 bullet that has been cut in half. It’s not the bullet commonly used in AR 15s but it operates in the same manner. It has a hollow cavity in the tip. The basic function is that this bullet travels very quickly and the tip breaks as soon as it makes contact with anything. Whether it be a wall, an animal, a human, or a tree branch that tip caves in when it makes contact and the bullets flips like a kicked American football. This decreases the energy of the projectile by a lot. This means that a 5.56 or 5.45 are the best rounds to use in neighborhoods, apartment buildings, or in homes with children around. This bullet will hit drywall and be less deadly. A 9mm pistol bullet can go through an entire house. a .30-30 bullet commonly used to hunt deer can go through multiple apartments. You could hit a home intruder and a shotgun slug can go through him and into the neighbors house.

On the topic of hunting. AR 15s chambered in .300 Blackout are the premier way to dispatch our wild boar invasion in farm lands. Pigs can destroy millions of dollars in property, crops, and livestock damage. They are an enormous problem. AR15s are needed because they are light, quick, and not too bulky so a farmer can have one in his truck and use it as soon as he sees boars. AR15s in 5.56 are great for hunting other animals like skunks, raccoons, wolves, coyotes, and rabbits to name a few.

Moving on to the topic of fear. Fear is an emotion and is therefore relative. Right now I am feeling cold. If someone in a colder area like Alaska or Norway is standing in front of a warm fire place covered in thick blankets while a blizzard rages outside does it mean it is warmer in Alaska than in Texas? Of course not, it just means I need to put some socks on. You feel safe, good for you. I do too, good for me. I am not living in fear, I am hoping for the best and preparing for the worst. I have canned goods because I once went with limited food for weeks during and after a hurricane. I drive a car with lots of safety features because I know people who died in car crashes. I brush my teeth because I know people in their 30s with dentures. I have a gun because my people were unarmed when they were murdered by their government. It’s one of the reasons my family came to this country and it’s one of the reasons those problems did not.

Regulations are great. I used the regulation that says food products need to be labeled with expiration dates today. I would have had some bad milk and been sick for hours without that. I don’t mind a government, but I do mind a lot of government. The police do not prevent crime, they arrest criminals after they have committed crimes. Look up what the average length of time it takes for police to arrive on scene in your area. The answer, no matter, what is too long. In the time it takes you for to pull out your phone, dial, the operator to respond, and the police to drive is less than it takes for a human to be beaten, kidnapped, murdered. 5 minutes may be ok if you call them because someone was spray painting a wall, but that is not ok if your friend is bleeding out. Literally in this recent case that no doubt inspired OPs post, an armed policeman stood outside of the school mere feet from the shooter and did nothing as people died. Your government does not care about you and they do not protect you. They try, but they fail too.

This is Dutch MMA fighter Alistair Overeem. He is 6′3 and in his prime was 3% body fat and weighed 280 pounds. He is famous for his ability to get knocked out in devastating fashion. He’s a good fighter despite this, but hitting him in the right spot just puts him to sleep. Him and his brother(a less skilled, less fit mma fighter who has more knockout losses than some UFC champs have fights) once beat the living shit out 5 security guards armed with clubs. The five guards needed emergency care, Allistair hurt his hand because he punched a guy in the face and cut himself with his victims teeth. In a different incident he pushed a lady and with one hand sent her flying and she was injured after hitting some poles. Would you fight this man? I know it’s a extreme, he’s bigger and more well trained than 99.99% of the world but a guy even half as big and half as skilled and with twice the ability to make a punch would you say with confidence you could fight him off? Let’s think of someone else. Do you have an elderly person in your life or a very young person? A 5 year old nephew, a 70 year old grandparent? Not to mention any disabled people in your life. Maybe even people who are currently sick with the common cold or have a stubbed toe or pregnant or dealing with period cramps right now. Do you think you could beat Allistair Overeem in a 1 to 1 fight? Do you think every single person you care about could beat him at any given moment? If a man that big and even a fraction as skilled came into your home would you be ok? Would the police respond in time? The answer is no because even if you managed to call the police before he was face to face with you he has choked people until they fainted or knocked them out in less than a minute despite them being his size, strength, nearly his level of skill, and fully prepared to fight him. On the opposite end of the spectrum, do you think you, barring any personal thoughts and restraints could stop him if he attacked you and you had a weapon whether it be a gun or a taser or pepper spray? Which would you pick? Should training martial arts, taking steroids, and lifting weights become illegal?

“Let me tell you a secret: if the other isn’t allowed to own a gun, you don’t need a gun” Allowed is the keyword. Allowed is very different than has or owns or uses. In America we are a free people. My government doesn’t allow me to do things. We allow the government to do things. We allow the government to tax us, we allow the government to operate, and we allow the government to arrest and punish people who do certain actions. You have defined what freedom means to you. That is not freedom but you are free to think that way and to desire your life be that way.

On the topic of race and countries of origin and all that let me just go on a little tangent here. My Dad’s side is white, Norwegian mostly but I have a great grandma who’s ancestors were in the original US Navy under the great John Paul Jones. The cannons on said ship were privately owned as were all the small arms. They even had a gun that shot multiple bullets in a row. It wasn’t as advanced as an M60 machine gun but it was considerably faster than a musket. These people knew inventions were coming that would do things more effectively. Whether it be better ships, better guns, or better way of communication. You believe the change of technology should effect the right to bear arms. Do you believe the government should restrict speech? Do you believe people should be incarcerate for speech? If so, what kind of speech? Do you think it would be ok if in 20 years you holding that opinion became illegal and that put you in jail?

Finally let’s talk about guns and swimming pools and cars. Swimming is a recreational activity, exercise, sport, and therapy. Cars are transportation, sport, and hobbies. Guns are also used in sports, hobbies, exercise, recreational activities, and therapy. Earlier this month a friend told me a child in her neighborhood(a three year old) fell into a swimming pool and drowned. Last year a guy in a truck ran over and killed a lot of people in London. Last week a guy with a gun killed a lot of students at a school and at that same event a policeman with a gun stood outside without confronting him. Should we attach floaties to every child? Should we outlaw trucks? Should we outlaw guns? Sorry for any spelling errors.

What are your favourite head/canon things about Alberta

so i’ll just start with a disclaimer - i use sherry’s/iamp/whatever alberta and i realize ive been getting a lot of followers who are part of rp groups and whatever or people who might be interested in adding some depth to their own ocs so feel free to like… think about these things if you want if you’re thinking of doing an alberta oc?? I guess

so since that mysterious slash implies what are my fave canonical things about AB too I’ll say that there isn’t much- I go with what sherry says on canon rather than IAMP and PC because while there are a lot of things I had influence over in both projos there are a lot of things I would have done differently so we’ll start with the bio

Canon Stuff

literally all the things are accurate sooo its hard lol. Obviously the political situation has changed and the economic situation is its usual rollercoaster (WELL… but thats another time). I gotta say that the ‘alberta beef is the best thing that’s ever happened to me’ is really hitting home right now because i didnt realize how SPOILED i was by AAA beef until I got to Ontario ToT (ngl the pork here is super good and saves me money but the BEEF aAAA)

also my edmonton bias shines through at ‘he hates a part of himself called calgary’ thats by far my second fave B)))

Headcanon Stuff

ok where to start I will try to not make this an essay and i can elaborate more if you’re curious

- a lot of people will wonder about whether a province lives in the capital or the biggest city etc. and I have to say in Bertie’s case it is NEITHER. He’d never willingly live in (d)E(a)dmonton (sorry ed ilu) because Ed represents Government which he Hates and while he would spend a fair bit of time in Calgary he gets claustrophobic/exhausted - he still in my mind represents more of the rural bits of the province than the cities. I think he might move around a little, but he probably lives on a ranch between both cities but within sight of the mountains. I’m sure he has a place to stay in each city, but he’s a country boy at heart and appreciates his space, peace and quiet. 

- Particularly space because Where else is he going to keep his 3 trucks + 2 ATVs + horses + 100000 cows + boat + canoe + kayak + all his camping junk + motorbikes + dirtbikes + tractor + other junk that people leave at his place

- that said his ‘birthplace’ is the southern ‘half’ of the province so he tends to kind of hover around there more- as i said he owns a ranch rather than a farm because the Quality Ranch Land is in the south and the Good Farm Land is in the north (and being eaten up by ugly houses ugh)

- still I think he spends a fair amount of time working up north in the Fort Mac area because Why Not make All the money. Even if you’re a rancher boy in the middle of nowhere, everyone in this province has ties to the oil industry one way or another. It wouldn’t make sense for him NOT to work in Oil and Gas because it’s literally the only job in the province lmao.

- His driving playlist consists of: Dean Brody, Corb Lund, Keith Urban, Ian Tyson, and the obligatory Nickelback which he listens to Un-ironically but also to piss off/drown out passengers when they’re annoying him

- He’s easily annoyed. By Everything. And Everyone. He’s the current national scapegoat and he takes it Extremely Personally depending on the context but also he has a relatively affectionate relationship with everyone and usually expresses his affection by pointed jabs. 

- like he literally gets along with everyone on a personal level and not just because he buys them drinks- his worst relationships are probably with BC and Ontario and that’s just because he lives to irritate them and they respond with an appropriate amount of salt. He still doesnt mind hanging out with them and bc/ab/on/qc is an unstoppable team. He just gets extremely sensitive when anyone asks to borrow money from him and will give you an earful of ‘i work SO HARD for this money to put FOOD on YOUR TaBLe’

- generally really tight fisted with money………. only when other people are looking. he makes a big deal about how little he spends on essential services and you just look at him like ‘so you’re saying you have the money to get all this crap for this rodeo coming up but you dont have the money to take yourself to the hospital after’ and hes like [coughs up blood anime style] ‘im ok i have whiskey and benadryl at home’ [adjusts his diamond studded hat]

- really big on loyalty and straightforward conversations and has NO patience for any hypocrisy or doublespeak no matter how small. The slightest of things can send him reeling with Betrayal. Also this makes him either tight lipped or TMI, there is no in between. 

- like literally reeling he’s very top heavy and you could blow him over with a sneeze, he’s all bark and only some bite. When he’s good he’s Real Good but when he’s bad he’s like a foot in the grave bad

- he’s the baby of the prairie bros but also the one with the brains- and i don’t mean in an academic sense i mean in the ‘so crazy it just might work’ sense. 

- literally he’s an idiot he doesnt understand how equalization payments work no matter how many times you explain it to him. He doesn’t understand a lot of things re: the economy but he never shuts up about them. 

- the easiest way to piss him off is to threaten his autonomy in any way, he will stop whatever he’s doing to put a boot up yer ass if you Dare suggest something like ‘why don’t you let ontario/canada take care of that for you’ even if he knows the way he’s doing something is garbage he will go out of his way to keep doing it because its ‘my way or the highway’. 

- ‘why do you have all those guns’ ‘oh you know hunting deer and stuff’ [really its because he’s terrified a rat is going to sneak into his barn or something] [but he does actually hunt] [and he’s the type of guy to have the ‘trespassers will be shot’ signs]

- I haven’t figured out WHAT truck he drives yet but i am PROUD OF HIM for no longer putting truck nuts on it, THANK GOD that went out of fashion. (That said he does not have the stacks- his truck is lifted and Shiny and also has a handful of Alberta Strong decals/stickers.) Newf probably gave him a sticker of “The Rock” or a nfld flag and he Loves it. On a scale of most to least obnoxious trucks its Mac - Bert - Cal - Ed. It’s probably a white truck.

- i should think about things he loves more, this headcanon list is mostly things that make him angry oops xDD he loves animals a lot, and not just to eat i swear. The bigger and the more horns the better.

- he really loves driving a lot, it’s like a big part of his independence factor. I think sometimes he will just drive aimlessly late at night/early morning when it’s not busy and just go and find somewhere to look at the sky.

- he looooves digging up fossils in his spare time, or just interesting rocks in general. If you say the words animatronic dinosaur he is ALREADY THERE

- he watches a lot of sci fi and really loves star trek. So Much. he’s totally attempted mowing crop circles in his lawn/fields probably multiple times. he’s still waiting for the ufos to come land. Also has a thing for spooky places and cryptids and those weird inexplicable twilight-zone like events that only happen on road trips. did i mention the Giant Roadside Attractions. 

- he has this persona of being a traditional/small-and-big-c conservative but he’s actually really into innovation and trying new things, meeting new people, etc. He interacts with so many different people lately that he’s trying to take the time to really re-evaluate himself and move away from the Klein-era “Severely Normal People” image because it doesn’t reflect him. The issue is he’s more likely to vote on economy rather than social issues so his actual progressiveness gets hidden by lack of political representation (and lets be honest he has Always hated politics). He’s got a lot of crap to sort through but he catches people who underestimate him off guard.

- was probably raised methodist/protestant/whatever but is mostly pretty secular, but he has some definite strong holdovers that make him uncomfortable about certain subjects and his first reaction to being uncomfortable is always anger.

- completely oblivious to being hit on or something or really gay situations around him but is that type of person who is like [cant walk too close to another dude because what if it looks gay bro].

- his fave cow is named buttercup

- he has definitely woken up after a night out with friends naked and alone duct taped to an air mattress and floating in the middle of a lake. true story. 

- he will macgyver his way out of any situation. doesn’t mind getting down and dirty in the mud when it’s necessary. exactly the type of person to shove his hands in bitumen and squish it around or to pick up a rock and lick it or to shove a thermometer up a cow. When he gets squeamish he does his best to be bullheaded and pretend like Nothing is Wrong until he faints. 

- his french is crap but he Tries- the french he knows is backwater northern AB french which he’s too shy to bring up so he feigns ignorance. His german is good and his ukrainian is passable, his spanish is fine, he’s trying to get the hang of some other languages but doesn’t tell anyone he’s practicing because he hates getting made fun of xD

- the hat and boots are Absolutely to make him look taller than he actually is. He doesn’t wear inserts but he does make sure the sole/heel on any boot he buys is Thick. Smol insecure man with a Big hat. Will spend 300 bucks on shoes, but he actually does ride/work so its an investment for him. 

- heads to Arizona/Mexico in the winter when he’s not working, otherwise Banff/Jasper are his ‘budget’ vacations lol.

Okay okay so, it’s not like i just ended up listening to Stella on repeat again (but i just did) but i was thinking about the new songs in general bc, in Me Against the World, we see the reaction of the BB and MTC about how they lost the Rap Battles, and they both handle it with different degree and all, but we don’t see FP’s reaction at all to their loss, yet Stella is probably the biggest hint at their reactions to their defeat in a way the others new songs aren’t. 

In fact FP doesn’t even spend time with their leader in Me Against the World, Ramuda is off being shady, while all the others divisions reflect on how they apprehended the rap battles, with the Brothers all feeling like they’re the one who failed their others brothers and having to lift each other up, Samatoki congratulating his Crew for bringing them this far with also a glimpse that what mattered to him was winning against Ichiro, and MTR being very responsible about their win and Jakurai thinking about the future/what the government is planning with some nostalgia for the TDD days and Ramuda and esp being doubtful of Ramuda.

And yeah meanwhile we have neat interraction w/ Gentaro and Dice but they don’t focus on the fact they lost on the first round at all (even if Jakurai reassures that everyone was v powerful and all), Gentaro and Dice are just off being... themselves and teasing each other and completely forget that the rest of the world exist and all, and it makes sense since they are the band that was formed in the whole “we live in the moment” so there’s no point ressassing about their loss, anyway. 

While i don’t have the official translations of Dead Pools and Papiyon yet, there’s at least a few themes in the newest songs that i find kinda touching: 

The Bros are immediatly back at being dorks and at uplifting their division with a radio show, they embrace the bit of starhood they’re getting to be happy representant of their divisons - the song is super cheerful and full of love with the brothers bickering and having fun.

I have no idea what Papiyon is about (this is written in katakana and it makes me wonder if it’s meant to be from the french “Papillon”? Which would be butterfly, ephemerical victory), but I doubt MTR has really reasons to be moody per se after their win, and i’m pretty sure at least Hifumi brings up celebrating their win with Champagne even if Doppo has his usual mental breakdown midsong.

For Dead Pools i can only focus on the English parts, which gives more a feeling of well, the opening line, “we haven’t done nothing yet” - that they are mentioning their loss but in a way of “we’ll be better next time you’ll see” way. 

*punches a table* which expectingly brings me to Stella which already stands out for being a story written by Gentaro, that was said to explicit about how he saw the Posse - already out of the others song it is the most factually distached from what happened in their world, while being the most honest about the feelings and emotions developped within the song.

And even there i say that with a double edged sword bc if the theories saying Dice is Otome’s son is true (so him being the son of the current president who made a Coup d’Etat to get in power), the whole “Dice is a King” part of the song is even more insidious than just how Gentaro sees him (although i doubt Gentaro has any reasons to believe that from Dice and considering the Messiah part and how Dice’s motif is the motif of Salvation i do think Gentaro is just that enamoured with Dice (or, shipping goggles aside, at least sees Dice as the redeeming factor of the reeked group of misfits they are since he does have a low opinion of himself and doesn’t trust Ramuda completely while being fully aware of Dice’s honesty) but i disgress), and it explains this whole Dice’s verse. (Talking about how the rest of the countries had been destroyed by wars even if Dice is not there to have a hand on it, “A gate to the undone rule of might” is VERY SHADY considering this is LITTERALLY what Chuukiukou is, The whole Fugitive motif and the throne being far far away and that his ideals are just “a poison playing to the crowd” - If Dice is really Otome’s son the whole verse takes a whole grim turn)

ANYWAY i disgress again bc I could ramble for hours from then on, the also hints of the “hypnotizing history” and “trapping people in their social status” that Gentaro sneaked in his verse, and honestly between that and the novel Gentaro wrote about “twins being separated by the government” it feels like Gentaro criticize the Gov’ a lot in his fictions and it may explain a part of why the government is keeping an eye on him - or it’s the opposite and the reason he got the gov’s interest is why Gentaro is now vocal about it, buT

MY POINT 

is that Stella is far more personal onto the three main characters about connecting each other,to create important bounds with each other because they are too alike to disregard each other, which imo feels a lot like trying to reach out to Ramuda (which they textually do in the song anyway) since Ramuda, while being the one who reunited them, is the one who keeps the most distance with them. 

And then in the whole last part of the song (which was my initial point but i got lost along the way), is all about Keeping Moving Forward even while Still Making Mistakes - it’s the most frontal into admitting their defeat they could get, as a Mistake they made along the way, but it’s just a part of the path, and their future is far brighter.

And anyway i just find it very sweet that FP was the one band that neglected talking about their feelings in the Drama Track but is the one to express it in Song. Because it fits them perfectly doesn’t it? The guys who live in the present, who keeps hiding their troubles and who they truly are, but song, especially written by Gentaro, makes sense to get it out. If Gentaro’s character song is anything to get by, he can get much more blunt while he’s actually writting, while he can dress the truth up with all sort of lies to distract from it.

Hell i say that but i should look no further than when Ramuda recruit him, he tells him that the fiction he writes are always joyful and beautiful but “there’s always a sense of loneliness in them”. We know Gentaro tells lies and stories to cheer people up, to have them have fun, even if it isolates him further away.

So to have Stella a song about unification is already huge, but the fact is still that this song reeks in loneliness for the first three verses but then is all too united and is exactly what Gentaro needs catharist for aND especially, that the more lies Gentaro tells the more he can dress the truth up. 

Gentaro uses a story like always to share his true feelings, something he wouldn’t face full front and this is where they address their loss by a hopeful insight in the future. That this is how they end up facing their defeat and their future.

I’ve ended up rambling but Stella does that to me

tl;dr it’s funny that FP is the only band that doesn’t actually show reaction to their defeat in the Me Against the World Drama Track, yet is also the band to address it the more bluntly in their song, yet it fits so much the characters, especially Gentaro who wrote the song, to exteriorize their feelings only as long as there’s enough “make believe” to hide them.

EDIT: and WHILE IM AT IT since half of my reasoning is there, Stella is probably the song that touches the most on the politics of their world than the others songs did, since again the fact you can dress up the truth with too much make beliefs make it easier to hide the critism, but i really don’t think any of the other bands is that frontal about criticizing the government on that regard?? but there i’d really need the rest of the translations to be sure. Anyway Stella is a masterpiece.

born in seoul, sunhee had a happy if not unconventional early childhood. for nearly the first decade of her life, she was raised by her single mother dohee, who, after getting pregnant as a teenager was kicked out of her home in busan by her parents

knowing that the father of her child didn't want anything to do with the baby, dohee packed up what she owned and moved to the other side of the country, settling down in seoul and began to make a life for her and her daughter

and apart from sunhee constantly being sick due to a poor immune system, and generally being a small, frail child, they had a good life

sure, there were plenty of people that looked down on them for how much of a free spirit dohee was. she never really did fit the generic "mom role" but she wasn't a bad mom. she encouraged sunhee to do what she wanted even from a young age

hobbies were picked up and dropped in the span of weeks if neither of them liked it, pottery classes, language classes, collecting little odds and ends, bird watching, they'd tried it all together. but there was one that stuck. sunhee, at the age of five, saw a streetside piano player one day and begged her mother to get her lessons

and, being dohee, she provided them even though she had to take on another job to make ends meet while also being able to pay for the lessons (which proved beneficial, since sunhee was so into it)

but their little life in seoul came to a stop when sunhee was nine years old. all because of one man named harrison locklear. he wasn't a bad guy, just some tourist that dohee met in a market

sunhee was used to her mom dating, she never stopped dating just because she had a young daughter. and though most of those relationships never looked like they were going any where serious so, like with all of the other men that had come and gone in dohee's life, sunhee never paid much attention to harrison

until her mother came home one night to relieve the babysitter all too excited before sitting down with sunhee and showing her the engagement ring that harrison had brought back with him on his third trip just to see her

and just like that, sunhee's life in seoul changed. they were packed up and ready to move to the usa with him in a matter of a couple weeks

like most children woould be in her position, sunhee wasn't crazy about the idea of leaving the only place she knew as home, and leaving all her friends

but what made it even worse was that she'd never even heard of the place they were supposed to be moving to

juneau, alaska

it was a completely different world than what she was used to. gone were the bustling noises of seoul, and they moved into his home that was surrounded by woods. no longer was it just her and her mother in their tiny apartment, now it was her, her mother, and harrison in his two story five bedroom home

to her credit, sunhee adjusted as best she could without much complaint (though she did refuse to really get to know harrison at first. but she was like, nine so ??) 

a year and a half later and things started changing again for sunhee (who, by then, started going by sunny thanks to harrison giving her the nickname and it sticking with everyone they knew and met there)

at eleven years old two major things were different: her mother was pregnant with twins, and she was starting to notice that it was getting harder and harder to hear things

but, being the kind of child she was, she didn't want to seem like she was complaining (especially when her mom and step dad were so happy about the coming babies), plus she was only eleven, she didn't really take into account that not being able to hear her mom call her downstairs for dinner as well as she used to was something to really worry about

so she didn't say anything, and nothing was done until she was fourteen when dohee and harrison really started to notice that something was up, and they took her to the doctor  

by the time she was fifteen, she was deaf with 55% hearing loss in one ear, and 85% in the other ear and… well obviously it was a big blow to her. sure, it was a gradual thing where she never noticed it until one day she realized that she actually couldn't hear shit, that it wasn't just something most people went through but it still made her change

she became a lot quieter than she used to be, and would really only talk if she had to until she was abuot seventeen and she insisted on taking speech therapy so she wouldn't embarrass herself in front of people even in the slightest bit

the hardest thing to her, though, was giving up music. almost always she was listening to music, or playing the piano, and while she could still technically do those things after going deaf, iti wasn't the same. she couldn't her the notes on her piano in the same way, only feel the vibrations andsometimes, when she'd hit a low note, she could hear it more than others. she hasn't played all that much since, and only in the privacy of her own home when she's alone

soon after going deaf, her mother kept trying to find something new for her to immerse herself in. mostly because dohee started feeling guilty, like she could have prevented it if they'd caught it earlier. and one of the things she tried to get sunny into was photography

and just like playing the piano, it was something that just clicked with her. the best part about it, was that she didn't need her hearing for it. she could take her equipment places and take photographs without even needing anything

and that's what led her to korea. instead of applying for an american college, she applied for school in seoul to obtain her master's degree in fine arts (with an emphasis on visual arts) along with a bachelor's in art history

some other like . little things about her i didn’t fit in her bio bc i didn’t want it to get too long or whatever even though it’s already long as shit 

sunny’s a really happy person, all things considered she’s just quiet a lot of times, and doesn’t mind just being alone. a lot of times, though, she can come off as blunt or sarcastic, especially when she’s not meaning to be. it’s mostly because she’s unable to hear her own tone of voice so she could say something meant to be nice, but it come off the wrong way. because of this a lot of times people who don’t know her think she’s just . rude. 

she can speak english and korean, and knows ASL as well as SEE but she doesn’t use them a lot, especially now that she’s living in korea since she doesn’t know KSL at all 

she has a lot of half siblings. once dohee and harrison got married, they were quick to start more of a family and haven’t.. actually stopped yet. there’s hana and harry jr (both 12), mina (10), riley (8), parker (6), sandy and sydney (both 4), and dohee’s currently pregnant again with (hopefully in sunny’s opinion) their last two children. another set of twins. sunny loves her siblings, she does. they’re great. but god there’s so many of them

when she was twenty one, she got a kitten for christmas from her parents when she was visiting home during the holiday break. sunny, being the nice person she is, let one of her brothers name it. he named it fucking fat fat. and even though her mom was all “just change it when you get back to korea he won’t know” she kept it because it was sort of funny. so now she has a three year old cat named fat fat who, really isn’t fat at all 

she’s never really been bothered by the fact that she doesn’t know her her biological father is. has the thought crossed her mind before? of course. but she’s always had her mom who’s stepped up to be both, and harrison as well. even though she wasn’t crazy about him at first, after the nerve damage she went through that resulted in the major loss of her hearing, she grew a lot closer to him. still doesn’t call him dad, though. he’s just harry. which is fine with him, too. he’s a cool dude. 

she doesn’t, however, care all that much for harrison’s parents. did they accept her and her mom with open arms? they sure did. do they dote on her siblings? of course they do. but when she lost her hearing, they didn’t know how to handle the situation with her disability. so their treatment of her ranges from ignoring her, to being tactless and blunt, to being offensive. she doesn’t hate them, she doesn’t really hate anyone. but she’s not above skipping going over there for holidays if she can get away with it (which she always does) 

she’s super clumsy? like this bitch can catch her hip on the edge of a table three times in a row without fail and react shocked every time like she can’t believe she just did that. usually bc of that she has various bruises and shit 

also very easily startled, but that’s a deaf thing bc she can’t always hear something or someone coming. so it’s super easy to startle her rip

I honestly don't know. I wish I knew how to support or advise this girl. She's too old to attend the support group I went to, and I don't really know that much about NH-L because it's quite different than HL. It was all medical care for me, so you'd think it would be my concern, but whatever. Will her oncologist's office help her to find financial support? How does that even work? Didn’t make it to the section filmed in front of the judges though. But I did get to skip the first audition and a lot of the queue because I had big equipment (drum kit)

Yeah, some motherfucker broke into my place in aus and stole my goddamn potato. It’s almost 3 years later and I’m still bitter about it. Do you know someone who tends to eat all the time? When did you last spend the night at someone’s house? I spent a month in hotels while I was travelling. Before that, I guess it was when I stayed at a guy’s place in Madrid for a weekend in August I think.

Is your hamper currently overflowing? I throw all my dirty laundry directly into the washing machine and turn it on when it’s full. I probably should turn it on tomorrow.

Are you a shorts wearing kind of person? When I went to India I packed shorts in my suitcase and even though it was over 40 degrees every day of the trip, I still never wore them. So no, I’m not a shorts wearing kind of person.

Is your grandparents’ house obsessively tidy? No, but my dad’s is.

Do you prefer to tape or tack up posters to your walls? I have not had a poster up in several years but I used to always use blutack.

When you cook, do you like to throw in random things? I usually only buy what I’m going to use but sometimes if I find something I’ll chuck it in.
