i dont really have a hc for soren but the idea od him being missing is so interesting. its confirmed that ivor (and harper?) were on a mission to find him but obviously havent. the easiest answer is he went back to the end, but thats obvious meaning he/they probably looked there and he clearly isnt since they havent found him. so where the hell is he? theres no chance that hes in the portal network because of jesse being in posession of the flint and steel and hed have to way to get around without it, but considering hes a master builder and knew where ivors lab and enchantments are maybe he made his own?? i dunno. but its interesting. i wish that if there ever is a season 3 (highly doubt) we’ll get some closure on him. the only reason he wasnt in s2 is because the team said they wanted new characters, but considering how sparse soren was i feel like it couldve worked. but like i said i really want to know where he actually went and how his books got everywhere, its a fun concept.

MC is definitely a "regular person trying to survive". I would love to think that if an alien invasion happened, I would turn into Dom Toretto from Fast and Furious and be a certified invincible badass for the sake of my family, but in reality I can't do a pushup and would get my shit rocked by aliens :/ but a girl can dream...

The stat checks won't be all that difficult, but you can't be good at everything. It's better to be really good at 2 or 3 skills rather than mediocre at 5. (at least in terms of stat checks!)

The stats, personality, and traits are pretty straightforward. Depending on your choices, you'll get + or - a number of points.

I mentioned this in another ask, but you can have a low friendship with 2 romance options while still romancing them. For C, you need a high friendship to romance them because they are demisexual.

talking about stay night specifically in this case bc the broader franchise is so big that pretty much nothing i could say would be applicable to all entries

its so so so so so good the world and magic system are so interesting, the characters are compelling and unique (there will never be another kirei kotomine.), the heroic spirits have much more research put into them than people who looked at one wikipedia entry of a historical/mythological figure would have you believe, and generally speaking it deserved to pop off and shape pop culture the way it did (with rin tohsaka essentially functioning as the blueprint for the 2010 era tsundere)

i'm stupid excited for the official translation so we can actually read a version of it without the dubious choices of the fan translation, even if it the new version may come with its own weirdness, and i'm especially happy that there Are two translations bc even w the old translation not being fantastic it means people who don't read japanese (meeee) actually have two texts to compare and contrast to get a better sense of what's a translation choice and what is true to the original text

also I think it overall handles themes of familial abuse, depersonalization and PTSD (also arguably depression) really well despite being a story where anime characters shoot beams at each other and have sex. speaking of the shooting of the beams is executed fantastically and the majority of fsn Noble Phantasms are fucking peak fantasy combat writing, characterization and world building. gae bolg and unlimited blade works will always be famous but shoutout to rule breaker and the ORIGINAL zabaniya

I just want to respond and give my own thoughts now that I've read your response. Sorry that's it's so long, and feel free to ignore. I just want to get this out to somebody lol. I won't address EVERYTHING, just the highlights:

Your response did help me understand the gay!Cas interpretation more, esp since you are right about there being so many instances in canon of him being specifically gay coded.

However, and I hope this doesn't sound demeaning in any way, but I think the reason I don't prefer the label "gay" for Cas is cuz it feels too limiting.

Gay (as I understand it) is a person who identifies as male who is sexually/romantically interested in other men. So...

1) I don't necessarily accept that Cas identifies strictly as "male." I agree that he's comfortable in his male body, as you stated, and I know that the story of Dean&Cas wouldn't have played out the way it did if he hadn't taken a male vessel. But all that aside, I think Cas' attitude towards gender is probably very fluid compared to our society's typical binary. Compared to humans, his species and gender is Other™.

I personally prefer this idea cuz I relate to it more. I have a female body that I'm perfectly happy with, and I don't mind ppl seeing me that way; I don't have dysphoria. But at the same time, I don't have a strong feeling of "I AM a woman" if that makes sense. If I woke up as a man tomorrow, I'd be fine with that. I see Cas in a similar way: He likes his body and is attached to it, but he doesn't necessarily feel that it being male is essential to who he is or his identity.

I feel that while Cas is in a male body and is happy with it, his gender identity most likely exists outside of the human binary construct. Automatically, this makes him more umbrella "queer" to me rather than gay.

2) And also, as I said in my earlier ask, I think Cas' sexuality is just: in love with Dean. There are moments in the show that COULD be interpreted as feeling arousal or attraction to women, imo. But I don't see any moments that would suggest he's attracted to men other than Dean.

So to me, this suggests he is demi (for Dean, specifically) rather than blanket gay.

I understand the gay coding (like "sensible shoes," for instance) are about being gay specifically. But I also think those tropes have traditionally been applied to human male characters. Since Cas is not human (does not have our human standards for gender), not a typical "male" (nonbinary, imo), and not seemingly attracted to men in general (just Dean), those moments just reinforce that Cas is queer – "gay" is just too narrow a definition to encompass all that he is (imo!)

Anyway. Those are my thoughts. This is all my personal interpretation, and I am NOT saying ppl have to agree with this!! But I have decided (with your help, thanks) that people can't tell me I'm wrong either 😊 based on what canon supports, it's totally fine to NOT label Cas as "gay."

And thank you for sharing your thoughts!!! I honestly don't disagree with any of this. I do think all your points are fairly valid so I just want to reiterate that. And as I said in my post I certainly think "queer" can be and is applicable to Cas both for the reasons I had laid out and for the fact that there is very much room to see complexities in his queerness because he's an angel–as you've laid out here.

As a non-binary person myself I also totally get the vibe of what you're discussing. I want to add a side note that in the "real life," as it were, there are plenty of non-binary people who do align with the label of "gay" even without identifying as a man or a woman. It's not inherently limited by binary gender. (I say this as a reminder more for the benefit of anyone who may read this public post rather than to you, because I'm sure you know.) But does that mean Cas would align with it as a word/label? Not necessarily, obviously, in the reasons and ways you've described.

Glad you feel more certain in not being "wrong" and I'm really happy my post helped you come to that certainty 💕

How do you see the confrontation between Jaune & Cinder playing out? I still maintain that there should be a fight just because it's climactic/dramatic but it wouldn't really be the resolution to their conflict. The way I see it Jaune would be mostly just defending himself against a rampaging Cinder not really trying to win against her. Maybe even trying to save her if the Grimm arm gets too out of control. [1/2]

I think on some level it might be necessary because I beleive that Cinder's view of strength needs to be destroyed. And having Cinder despite all her strength still fail to kill someone weaker than her while also having her lose control of the Grimm would be the most blatant way of showing her it's not helping. She'd essentially be the most powerful she's ever been while also being the most helpless she's ever been. [2/2]

Confrontation between Jaune and Cinder when? Where are we narratively moored? I think it's very necessary to establish this in a more concrete framework than just discussing abstract events.

The question is whether Ruby purifying Cinder with her silver eyes is something that can conceivably happen soon, and whether that happens between now and the Relic of Choice - which is my only definable boundary for a given Jaune/Cinder interaction - or whether that happens afterwards (I lean towards this interpretation). It depends whether the Jaune/Cinder relationship is developed in V10 at all to set this up or not (particularly as a mirror to V5).

Why is Cinder trying to specifically fight him? The key set-up here would have to be as a consequence of Jaune outsmarting her with Penny - she never would've expected that move from him. Her opportunity for accumulating more of the Maiden power (a categorically bad thing) was denied - like his own self-sacrifice was denied by her - which should make her angry, but is also key to her development. I don't know if they'll go this way, but there was some implication of targetted anger when she went after him (and Weiss) in the V8 sequence post-Penny. So this is in a sense a reversal of Pyrrha, actually. Of course what Cinder can't recognise is that she is already the Fall Maiden, and the application of it in the wrong direction is, well, what's wrong, and so is similarly trying to accrue powers she doesn't need.

I don't think it's physical brute power that's her problem, per se, it's the way in which it's used as a ten-foot pole of safety for her and as a means to control and hurt the people around her before they can her. The Fall Maiden power is meant to be a gift; it is ironically key to her redemption.

The mirror of Penny and Pyrrha being picked up this way would be very tantalising to me - and once again specifically ties Jaune and Cinder together. The pain and anger is sort of ironically leading them in the right direction. It would also be very yummy to get a reprisal of this

Similar to that, if you're talking about vulnerability as a superpower - on his back Jaune is stronger than Cinder in the Haven sequence. So a moment of vulnerability where he doesn't hurt her has the potential to be a mirror but also a moment of deep emotional resonance... because surely, he'd take the chance to hurt her?

If that doesn't quite answer your question, sorry, but at the very least I think the one other guaranteed point of speculation outside the Relic of Choice is now a potential mirror of V5 - since V9 mirrored V4 (and V7/8 mirrored V1-3). Sooooo
