List of similarities I’ve noticed between Yugioh Zexal and Inazuma Eleven!
Aliens are antagonists
Younger sister in a coma
Most villains are being manipulated by a bigger bad. The big bad. The final boss.
Mc is a goofy goober sunshine. Everyone comes around to their positivity at some point
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Need I Say More (I was so convinced they both said something about eyes but I think I made that up)
Main character basically has their own harem, everyone loves em (lovable scamp)
If you play soccer/duel with someone that makes u friends even if they are evil. The magic of football/yugioh redeemed them 🩷 This power can also turn them evil. This also works if your friends turn evil, turn them into friends again with soccer/yugioh.
"Dont use yugioh/soccer for evil you monster!!" (This may send the mc into an existential crisis, why is their beloved being used for evil)
"Hey sometime we should do this (yugioh/soccer) just for fun 😉 since you’re not a villain serving an evil cause now"
Beating up robots to get into super secret organisation place (apparently easy to get into once you get past the robots)
Crazy strong opponent scores a goal or summons powerful monster in first minute, cut to our main characters going “no way” 😦😦
Characters in the dub called Tori, Byron, and Hartland surname

My K-drama recommendation master list Part 2
You can find part 1 here
Look, you gave us relatively new recommendations, what about ones older than 10 years? I'll give you my top 5
Princess Hours (2006) Is a modern Cinderella story. It's 24 episodes long. Available on Viki.
Personal Taste (2010) Honestly, problematic plot if you put your mind into it, but entertaining nonetheless. It's 16 episodes long, each one lasting a little over an hour, available on Viki.
Cinderella's Sister (2010) You hate every character, but there's still something that makes you watch it. Available on Viki.
Thank You (2007) was ahead of its time, it's about a single mother with a daughter who has an HIV+ diagnosis. 16 episodes long, each one lasting a little over an hour. Available on Viki.
Stairway to Heaven (2003) for a good melodrama.
What about romantic fantasies involving fantastic beings?
Guardian: The lonely and Great God(2016) A classic of the genre. It tells the story of a God who was once a man, and is being punished by immortality, unless he meets his bride, who just so happens to be a high schooler centuries later. Available on viki. 16 episodes long with 3 specials, all lasting about 75 minutes.
Hotel Del Luna (2019) it would be unfair to talk about Goblin, without talking about this other masterpiece about a being cursed into immortality and granted special availabilities along with it, but a curse is still a curse, and she must run a hotel meant for ghosts, where after centuries of being, meets a young man who is alive. Availability on Viki, 16 episodes long and each one lastz about 75 minutes.
Tale of the Nine Tailed (2020) You get to see Lee Dong Wook as another mystical being, and Kim Bum is his half brother. 16 episodes long and one special, each one lasting about 65 minutes. Available on Viki.
My roommate is a Gumiho (2021) what's up with gumihos? It's still airing. The title is self explanatory. Available on Viki and Qiyi.
Angel's last mission: Love (2019) is a cute and sad story about an angel who is about to ascend and a ballerina who has a cynical view of the world. Available on Viki. Each episode averages 30 minutes, with 32 episodes.
Doom at your service (2021) About to finish airing. It tells the story of a dying woman who wishes doom upon the world, and the doom who answers her plea. Available on viki, 16 episodes long, each one lasting about an hour.
The Scholar Who walks the night (2015) another Lee Joon Gi entry, but I swear all of his works are great, it's a period drama that tells the story of a scholar who is a vampire and the young bookseller he meets. It's 20 episodes long, each one lasting about an hour. Available on viki. Also, if you've liked Lee Soo Hyuk in Doom at Your Service, I advise you check this one out.
Tale of Arang (2012) two Lee Joon Gi entries in a row? Girl, you have to stop. Anyways, this one is another period piece of a magistrate who can see ghosts and the ghost of a young woman who doesn't remember her life, nor the cause of her death. Available on viki, it's 20 episodes long, each one lasting a little over an hour.
Look, those are fine or whatever, but I started as a K-pop fan, where can I see some idol dramas? Don't worry, I came prepared
Full House (2004) with Rain as the main character is the og idol drama in my opinion. Available on Viki. 16 episodes long, each one lasting about 73 minutes.
Imitation (2021) is currently airing, and it's literally an idol drama about idols. You can find a looot of idols too: Jeong Yun Ho and Park Seong Hwa from Ateez, Chani and Hwi Young from SF9, Park Ji Yeon from T-ara, Lim Na Young from I.O.I and Pristin, and although Jeong Ji So is not an idol, she is the main lead, and I absolutely love her, she's also in Doom at your service. Available on Viki.
Miss Panda and Mr. Hedgehog (2012) features Donghae from Super Junior, and if I'm going to recommend a Super Junior drama, I would rather recommend one featuring him over Siwon.
At a Distance the Spring is Green (2021) is currently airing too, and only has four released episodes, but I've liked it so far. Featuring Park Ji Hoon, and Kwon Dun Bin. Also, I have a lot of opinions about this show. Available on Viki.
I was going to put an IU drama but, all her dramas are good, so go and watch them all, the woman has range.
Dream High (2011) is the king of idol dramas, in my opinion. It talksa about a high school for people who want to be idols. Another one with a long line up of idols, so let me start: Suzy, IU, Taecyeon, Nichkhun and Wooyoung from 2PM, Ham Eun Jung from T-ara. Leeteuk (SuJu and Chansung (2PM) make cameos. Similarly to Imitation, Kim Soo Hyun is not an idol, but he's the main lead. It's 16 episodes long, each one lasting about 65 minutes. Available on Viki.
Wow, quite a few, but they all seem rather popular, do you have some underrated gems? I'm going to have to go down memory lane, but I do
The Queen's Classroom (2013) This one feels like a fever dream, because I'm aware it exists, I watched it back when it first aired, but I can't find it anywhere now. It's based on a Japanese drama of the same name. It's about a strict but warm hearted teacher and her students' lives and struggles. 16 episodes long. DM me if you find anywhere to watch it.
1% of Something (2016) is a really cute drama, the chemistry is off the charts, and if you're looking for skinship, this one is the one for you, underrated arranged marriage kdrama, I'm telling you. It's 16 episodes long, averaging 45 minutes, and it's on Viki.
I'm not a Robot (2017) has a really cute plot, not underrated per se, but not hyped enough. It's 32 episodes long, each one averaging 30 minutes. Available on Viki.
Do you like Brahms? (2020) is a music themed kdrama, really cute and wholesome. If you like 2setviolin and watched their critique on their YouTube channel, let me tell you, the cast actually knows how to play violin and stuff, and there's an actual child prodigy in there. It got so much hate bc of that one yt video. It's 16 episode long, each one lasting about an hour. Available on Viki.
Solomon's Perjury (2016) a good reflection on youth and the pressure society has. 12 episodes long, lasting about 63 minutes each. Available on Viki.
The Greatest Love (2011) is a super entertaining TV show, and just supper funny and cute. 16 episodes long, each one lasting around 65 minutes. Available on Viki.
Two Cops (2017) if you like Kim Seon Ho, I think this was his TV acting debut. It's a hilarious action comedy TV show. 32 episodes long, lasting around 30 minutes. Available on viki.
Do you have any recommendations where time traveling or time is central to the story?
Alice (2020) look, I can't give you a full explanation because it's too mind bending. Let's leave it at detective meets his mother. Available on Viki.
Signal (2016) The premise is similar to that of the movie Frequency (2000) in which there's communication between the past and the present via technology. The plot is based on the real Hwaseong serial murders. Really interesting. Available on Netflix. If you like the premise of communicating with the past via technology Call (2020) is a Korean thriller movie available on Netflix.
Chicago Typewriter (2017) this one is about reincarnation but we get to see both timelines. Available on Netflix.
Tomorrow with you (2017) Time-traveling but make it ✨depressing ✨. The story of a man who time travels, and how that ability messes with his marriage. Available on Netflix.
What about historical dramas? I don't really watch those, but here are some I liked
The Moon Embracing the Sun (2012) is one of the few I've finished. It's really good, it follows the love story of a king. Available on viki. 20 episodes long, each one lasting about an hour.
Gunman in Joseon (2014) Am I recommending you this one because of Lee Joon Gi? Maybe. It has 22 episodes, each one lasting about an hour. Available on Viki.
The Crowned Clown (2019) a story of the Prince and the Pauper if I must give you a description that is relatable, but if you know the book titled Skogland, it's closer to that. It's 16 episodes long, each one lasting about 80 minutes. Available on Viki.
I'm a little ashamed to say this, but do you have any BL? I do, I do
To My Star (2021) is a story about an actor and a chef, and how they learn to cohabit after the actor is forced into hiding. You can watch either the movie version or the drama version, both available on viki.
Color Rush (2020) is a modern romance fantasy about people called Monos who can't see any color unless they meet their Probes, however this may turn dangerous as the Monos may experience obsessive behavior, so what happens when a young high schooler meets his probe?. You can either watch it on its drama or movie version. Both available on viki. By the way, if you're a long time deobi and was wandering what happened to Hwall, he's one of the main leads.
You Make Me Dance (2021) follows the story of a university dancer who is in debt and his debt collector. Available on viki in both versions. The movie is 107 minutes long.
Just Friends (2009) is a short film, but ahead of its time, if you can't tell by the year it was released on. It's a cute story about a man who visits his boyfriend in the military. I found it in dramacool.
That's all from me, if you have any specific genre or them you felt I didn't add in, do feel free to tell me.

putting this under a read more for reasons
Tumblr media
MEN 2010 – 2016
literally nothing more embarrassing than falling on the same type of white man over and over again (with the exception of minho from shinee bless his heart)
tommy joe ratliff → he was the bass player for adam lambert during his glamnation era (think of songs like for your entertainment and if i had you) idk why exactly i liked him so much but i just did.... however i searched him up again quite recently and found out he’s one of those republicans that says the dumbest shit on twitter so Big Yikes
harry styles → “baby you light up my world like nobody else, the way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed, and when you smile at the ground it ain’t hard to tell...” and BOOM 13-year-old me was sold for well over two years
louis tomlinson → basically i liked harry most until around 2013 when for some reason i started to like him a little less, and i got more focused on louis tomlinson, and although i didn’t like one direction anymore louis tomlinson always had a special place in my heart
ashton irwin → so ashton is 5sos’ drummer, i discovered 5sos through one direction & i stanned them until late 2014
harries twins → the harries twins (jack & finn) are basically the reason i started spending a lot of time on youtube, they were funny and pretty and they just had good videos in general, so for almost two years i’d watch their content regularly
choi minho → my first steps into kpop happened bc i was watching videos on youtube (most probably the harries twins) and suddenly i saw the sherlock mv in my recommended videos so i clicked on it and then 14-year-old me proceeded to fall for minho like an idiot
brooks twins → still youtubers, the brooks twins were 3/5 of the janoskians (jai & luke brooks, beau brooks, daniel sahyounie, & james yammouni), an australian youtube comedy group that was active from 2011-2018 though i was only around from 2012-2014 (when jai brooks was dating ariana grande)
jc caylen → surprise! another youtuber! jc caylen was part of o2l (our2ndlife) a youtube collaboration channel on which each of the 6 members posted videos on a certain day in the week (mondays with connor, tuesdays with ricky, wednesdays with sam, thursdays with jc, fridays with trevi (my 2nd favorite member bc she participated on the x factor), saturdays with ricardo, and then they had surprise sundays every week) and i remember how much joy jc & the others always brought me with their silly videos
misha collins → up next, you might know him as the gay angel that was sent to superhell after confessing his love to the homophobic hunter on supernatural, it’s misha collins! basically misha was a huge source of comfort for me, and i even went around calling myself emmisha for almost two full years (cringe)
henrik holm → he played even bech naesheim in skam and my crush on him reached that level of ridiculousness where i actually tried my hand at learning norwegian (i can only remember how to introduce myself and some curse words i would make a great first impression on him)
Tumblr media
MEN 2016 – 2021
min yoongi → okay so my baby steps into kpop happened through shinee’s sherlock, but i only got really invested when yoongi dropped agust d 1 because Holy Fuck y’know??
kim namjoon → oh man i remember thinking namjoon was cute and a very good leader and then BAM he dressed like THAT at the 2016 mma’s and i fell in love. hard
park seojoon → i started liking park seojoon whilst i was watching hwarang (you guessed it, i watched it bc of taehyung), although he wasn’t my favorite character by far, but he was very silly off camera & i liked that (i’m not that into him anymore tho </3)
kim seokjin → OH BOY LET ME TELL U i liked seokjin from the very beginning (i got to know bts in late 2014) and i always liked seeing him perform and be himself and god once i realized i had a crush on him it just hit me like a mf truck, and he’s still one of my favorite people to this day
jung hoseok → god fake love era hoseok really hits different.... also yes i know i have all of bts’ hyung line on my list BUT bts was a really big part of my life for almost 6 years soooo honestly they deserve it i still think they’re great guys
choi san → when ateez made their debut in 2018 i immediately fell in love with san, he was such an amazing dancer and he captivated me right from the very beginning, to this day he’s still my bias in ateez uwu
xiao zhan → AND THEN, OCTOBER OF 2019 HAPPENS AND I WATCH CQL AND... i fall in love with xiao zhan, something i’d never expected would happen bc when i watched cql for the first time i wasn’t as invested in the story, but i really really really liked xiao zhan and one thing led to another and now here i am as a xfx
wang yibo → the thing is, i’ve known yibo since eoeo except i didn’t know cql yibo was uniq yibo (bc i’d forgotten his name) and when i looked it up i can tell you my jaw dropped to the floor bc holy shit????? also he is very silly and i love him loads ok
lee minho → ah, the man who has been my skz bias since 2018, not only is minho my bias i also kin him (there’s a lot of aspects of myself that i see in minho and vice versa) and he’s very comforting to me
bang chan → honestly, it was only a matter of time before i’d fall for bang chan, i knew the moment i got into skz again that i’d start biasing him and, well, here i am, double biasing chan & minho
Tumblr media
WOMEN
this list is shorter bc i’ve in general always had less crushes on women than on men??? blame society forcing me into thinking i was straight for a LONG time
ariana grande → remember the 2011 layout of twitter?? where u could not only have an icon and a header, but also a background and ur twitter page was smack in the center of ur screen with the big ugly menu bar at the top??? yeah ariana grande was always my background for my l*rr* st*l*n*s*n layouts
perrie edwards → this was right around the time she was dating zayn & little mix was breaking out into the spotlight, yeah i just really loved her
andrea russett → okay so remember o2l?? andrea russett was kian’s girlfriend for a pretty long time and they always did videos together and i always thought she was super pretty
lily collins → maybe i don’t like clary in tmi all that much but i sure liked the way lily collins looked
alona tal → MY BISEXUAL AWAKENING, it’s only when i saw alona tal in spn that i realized, fuck i might be gay
park jihyo → i discovered twice (my 2nd jype group after day6) through the like ooh-ahh mv and red-haired jihyo really did something to my heart (i just rewatched it and god zombie bang chan is so mf cute)
kim jisoo → when bp made their square two comeback i was immediately smitten for red-haired jisoo in playing with fire, it’s also when i realized she was my bias out of the four members
shin ryujin → the reason that i have blue hair is partially bc of ryujin and her amazing intro in wannabe :D
xuan lu → her portrayal of jiang yanli was SO ON POINT and she’s just such a kindhearted wonderful person wow i want her hand in marriage
lee yoobin → god i’ve known dreamcatcher from back when they were still called minx and ever since i’ve always looked at dami that bit more than the rest, i was also able to see dreamcatcher live in october of 2019 and the whole experience was just so amazing !!
Tumblr media
FICTIONAL CHARACTERS
there’s a whole lot more than just these 10 but i wanted to fit the evolution into one (1) slide as best as i could lmao
peter pan → this movie came out in 2003 (?) and he’s honestly the first fictional character i remember ever having a crush on
legolas → i was really doubting between placing haldir or legolas here but i only really got a vague haldir obsession when i was like 14
zuko → LOOK. ZUKO IN ATLA? HOT. ZUKO IN LOK? HOT EVEN IF HE’S AN OLD MAN.
will turner → man was annoying sometimes but i really liked him and his relationship with elizabeth was cute
jo harvelle → gosh i can’t believe she’s the only female character in here???? yeah she was one of my two spn faves and i’ll never forgive the screenwriters for the way they killed her off
castiel → does your fave ever get sent to super hell for being gay? no? well. mine did
kili → fili and kili’s storyline tore my heart out, spit on it, and then laughed straight in my face, KILI WAS LITERALLY MY FAVORITE DWARF
howl → i only watched this movie for the first time in 2020 so i kinda fucked up the tl cause i watched cql in 2019 but shh, anyways howl with his blonde hair was good looking but howl with his black hair just hits differently. i want a howl
lan jingyi → MY BABY BOY, TINIE LITTLE BABIE WHOMST I MUST PROTECT ok no but seriously this kid. i love him a lot
mu qing → BARK BARK. that’s all (that’s not all i love him a whole lot and it hurts me to see so many people misunderstand his character and only see the bad parts of him when they can forgive others for fucking up (eg. xie lian himself & feng xin) but bc mu qing doesn’t deal well with emotions suddenly he’s the bad guy??? i s2g if ppl are gonna do to him what they did to jiang cheng in the tgcf la i will RIOT)

Paying attention to Shin Hye-sun as the Mr Queen
i miss a lot of opportunities to discover this #actress. Magtaglish na lang me neh? I want to write a normal conversation with #filipino #fans like we are at home (nasa bahay lang tayu). Im writing in English because if some foreigner will read my blog (umaasa), they will understand it although I don't have a proper education or I don't have any knowledge about English language. All I know is verb is an action word #lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media
question #1 : may #filipino community ba dito? if meron please like and share haha...
anyway so here's what happen
2016 my coworkers are watching she was pretty and oh my ghost during lunch. I ignore them
In this year Legend of the Blue Sea was also famous in the Philippines because of Jun Ji-hyun and Lee Min-ho. I didn't know that hye sun was also part of the show. I ignored it.
2018 a closed friend told me she was watching My golden Life in GMA channel 7 Tagalog dub. I ignored it.
2019 I resign then I watch tons of Korean drama in 3 months starring # jangnara and #goara
Jang Nara
-hello monster with Seo In-guk (leading man in high school king savy where hye sun has a supporting role, i ignored it.)
-school 2013 - jang nara as a teacher (hye sun was one of the students with few lines) I ignored it.
Go Ara
-Miss Hammurabi with Kim Myung-soo ( or Infinites L, 2019 he was the leading man of Hye sun in Angels last Mission. I ignored it)
I also know Angel Eyes 2014 but I ignored it.
Hirap mag english. Nosebleed.
2020 March lock down for almost 2 months so I go back to what I love the most watching Korean dramas
this time its actress Kim hyun joo #marathon and guess what? KHJ and Hye sun have the same agency YNK. #surprised and #shocked me.
Then Crash landing on you came, I know the main lead Hyun Bin, Son Ye-jin, but who is this guy? Kim Jung-hyun. He looks so good in this drama. He was so stylish, cute, funny and charismatic.
Tumblr media
to make the long story short hye sun and me almost met... joke.
her Korean dramas are famous but I'm very picky? is that the right term? when it comes to #kdramas I always choose the best or the highest rated or the number 1 or the leading actress are my #favorites like Kim Sun-a, Go Hyun-Jung, Lee Young-ae, Lee Bo-young, Kim Hee-ae and of course Kim Hyun-joo
so... she's my new favorite.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2021 January. I was just curious about the NO 1 Korean drama and it was Mr Queen. The ratings was consistently getting higher. So I search about it... I know Alberto Gu but who is this woman? The Korean drama where I first heard and read the name "Shin Hye-sun"
I read the synopsis. Comedy is my favorite genre so I was intrigued by this new actress. I told my sister and she was done watching eps 1 to 14 in just 1 day on January 24. MQ was live every sat-sun.
I was hooked by the show and by her acting ability. Feb 14 was the happy ending day .
Tumblr media
Its been 10 years since I felt so crazy for a kdrama and that was Queen Seondeok 2009
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i love deokman
i love mishil
i love his son bidam
and history repeat itself...
QSD and MQ have issues with their writers and I'm like WHAT????!!!
After the show it became a depressing month. I don't want to tell all the details. I had enough. All I care right now is to spread the word that Mr queen destiny is greatness. It already made a TV history and I wish It will reach more millions of people. Its a fiction. Its goal was to make everyone laugh. To lessen the pain of dealing with Covid19.
Anyway I hope for the best. I pray that we can survive this pandemic. Please choose to see positivity. Please lets stop hate. Our different opinion against each other will not save us.
sorry hindi ako nagtagalog haha... this is how i practice english even if im lacking... tama ba? hahhahahha
pahabol... i wish shin hye sun will have a Hollywood movie or a Oscar or be married to a foreign actor like Leonardo DiCaprio

Final Post ||
I spent most of yesterday evening and this morning just kind of mentally processing the actual closing of rookies after seven years. Seeing the amazing plans that would have come to fruition makes me a bit sad but also kind of happy that rookies ended where it ended. Thank you to the mods for prolonged effort to keep this rp running as long as it did and I am glad to have been here as long as I was.
I first joined rookies six years ago on the 15th of October, 2014. 2014 and subsequently 2015 had been a chaotic formative years for me. At the time, I was in my third year of college, constantly questioning whether or not I should be doing my degree, watching my parents get divorced in the summer of 2015 and moving out of the house where I’d lived for twelve years. Rookies (at first through Sungjong in October and then through Kevin in March (03.04.2015) and Kris in April (04.29.2015)} was a writing escape and somewhat of a comfort. Over the years at rookies, I have grown, graduated from college with a business degree and ended up completely a different person then I was five years ago.
My writing improved a lot and I can confidently say that it was mostly thanks to Rookies. I had been completely scared off writing after an English teacher bitched at me for my skills but thanks to rookies, I got more confident in my own skills. Sure, there’s been other rps before rookies and at the same time as rookies, but they had never lasted quite as long. Through the years, I have made some incredible friends through rookies and I am glad to have them in my life. You guys are genuinely the best and I’ll always love you. I have no intentions of ghosting any of you and hopefully, we’ll write again together somewhere else.
Now, onto what everyone actually wants: rkmuses future and taking in the ideas and everything set out by Bianca in account, where they would end up?
rkxjongsuk: the trc vocal king, easter bunny, princess diva of youtube fame - formerly rkkevin
Tumblr media
I know I always used to say that I wanted him to debut the most since he’s my oldest muse,  but in all honesty, he would have never fit in the idol bubble. Going off the ideas set out by Bianca, however, his future would have been pretty satisfying.
He would have ended up staying in TRC (since he had signed his contract for the second time back in may) and debuting as part of the rkmonstax group with the other trc boys in early 2021 (most likely as their main vocalist). Jongsuk would have felt pretty accomplished by this, and had been ready for the idol life. However, he was not ready for the rules and restrictions that would come into play with the group.
he’d always had a kind of laissez faire approach to everything and so the idol life is kind of shocking to him. it wasn’t what he’d fantasized it would be. so, jongsuk would probably become the first member to officially leave the group before their six-year contract would expire citing personal difficulties and mental health issues (three years and a bit after debut)
During those three years with the group, however, he’d make a name for himself as the King of OST. He would have gone on to King of Masked Singer (making it to R2 and shocking everyone with the high note octaves), gone on to be one of the trainers on the Voice of Korea partnering with Dynamic Duo, and make multiple appearances on Immortal Songs (a la Kyuhyun). Simultaneously, he’d also be collabing with idols across companies, most notably fellow former mga 3 contestant Gyeoul of And*Roma and Jiyeon of HEARTZ.
Upon his departure from the group, he moved back to San Francisco and resumed his Youtube life and career. He would still support the rest of the boys, as an international fan and would always buy up a lot of their cds to support and tell his followers to stream. However, being back in his element, Jongsuk would feel a lot more relaxed and a lot more comfortable.
A few months after his return home, he’d gain a collaboration with Smashbox or Morphe for a makeup line and he’d release an eyeshadow palette, two lipsticks and three eyeliners with the branding Smashbox x Stark: Rave on Mad (an homage to his youtube name: starkravingmad). He’d most likely send it in packages to his best friends in Korea. Jongsuk would find success in other fields outside of music and delve into what made his channel tick and what made him the happiest.
Eventually, I think, he would have found love (maybe in the form of another tall actor who was in school 2013 with him) and been a happy youtuber, taking constant new challenges all over the place and always stepping to his own beat.
As for his friends, he would have definitely gone back to Korea for Kangjoon’s eventual wedding and Jiyeon’s eventual wedding as well. The invites to visit him in San Francisco, California would have been extended to all his friends and even in his busy schedule, he’d always find time to show them all around the city that he’d been born. He’d even always be happy to see his former groupmates if they came on tour to California and would always be the first one for the backstage/VIP passes.
rkxrm: the kt chaebol, nsg’s main rapper and actor extraordinaire - formerly rkkris, rkkmh, minhyukxrk
Tumblr media
namjoon had always been the unwilling debut, since I honestly never saw him actually debuting before jongsuk and instead, here we are. he’s the established idol.
With NSG’s debut having just happened, he would probably stick around as the rapper before KT began shoving him into acting everywhere. Most likely, would have ended up as leader of another subunit (maybe?) in the future putting that leadership expertise to the good use. After the first two successful comebacks, he would have gone into acting officially with the first main role on a web-drama as Cha Gihyun on A-TEEN.
His charisma would have definitely shined and stolen the screen time since he’s a former actor already. Following initial drama success, he would have tried his hand in modelling and endorsement, with Honda and Skool Looks. He would have gone further in modelling and acting, eventually becoming more known as the actor Kim Namjoon than the rapper of nsg.
He would have had his share of crazy fans (mostly noonas, pretty girls and drama grandmas) and even probably taken the top bias spot for quite a few people when they would have found out his past. Of course, during the course of promotions (I envision this would happen during Regular-Irregular promotions), it come to light that he’s an actual chaebol (he’s never hidden it but netizens think this is a big deal) and the heir to Kim Securities with a former Canadian award winning actress as his mother. It also comes to light the dysfunctional family dynamic that he’d always had with them.
It caused some hardship between him and his family but he had the support of nsg behind him (his ride or die brothers and family) but in the end his family did began treating him a lot better and he eventually gained their support.
He would have stayed with NSG all through their first contract, but probably wouldn’t have renewed and most likely would have either gone to acting agency where he could focus on acting or go back to that chaebol life and actually fully embrace it as a future heir.
In terms of his love life, he would have officially asked Jiyeon to date him at the Halloween party and they would starred in a few dramas side by side (Cinderella and the Four Knights being their first). They would kept secretly dating and eventually after their mutual dating ban was over, would probably reveal it in a cute couple shoot for Ceci or Dazed and Confused (like E Dawn and Hyuna). After Joon would have left NSG (post contract non renewal), he would have probably still kept acting and modelling alongside Jiyeon. NamYeon would have been a lot like the Rain/Kim Taehee acting and visual power couple.
He would have definitely still kept in close touch with the rest of nsg (since they’re like brothers) and even with all his former kt friends, loving the time that he had spent in the company.
rksxngyeol: nova’s artist, the mangaka
Tumblr media
sungyeol had been an incredibly refreshing muse to write. he’s always been someone who actually doesn’t want to debut and he just wants to draw. i initially got him because minhyuk (joon) and jongsuk were getting really exhausting.
there’s not much to say about sungyeol’s future. his contract with nova would have expired in november and he would have left the company on his own terms with the two years behind him. he learned a lot during those two years at nova and even realized a lot about himself.
following his contract expiry, he would have asked his boyfriend (myungsoo) to move in with him over christmas with a key in a box  attached to a black butler keychain. if the other said yes, then the new year would have kicked off with the duo moving and cooking together and spending time with each other.
sungyeol would have resumed drawing manhwa and mangas, combining his webtoon comic into a more professional looking five volume manga series with the same title. eventually he would have gotten an anime deal again and even a live action deal on his works (if your muse would have wanted to be in the live action of the Princess’s Sword, go for it). That would have propelled his family to actually recognize him as a talent and he would have been reinstated into the family.
This would have led to myungsoo officially meeting Sungyeol’s family. His parents would have loved him to bits and his grandparents would have been iffy on it, but  his grandmother would end up dying three years after of heart attack and his grandfather would have followed her a year later of old age.
After having dated Myungsoo for about five years, Sungyeol would have proposed to him and they would have most likely gotten married on the beach while on vacation somewhere warm. (we love a happy ending ;.;)  Also, he would have moved into a bigger house and brought Haebin with them so that they could be a cute happy family.
Eventually, he would have come back to work for Nova as a producer and creative direction artist under Wendy as CEO (if that would have happened), and if not, he would have taken over his family’s company despite the lack of education and simply learned on the job. (Can I say that he would have been Myungsoo’s sugar daddy at some point even though they would be married or engaged at this point???)
Thank you for reading to the very end and I love you all. Let’s stay friends and meet again in another rp.

The Art of Being Mino
The South Korean hip-hop star wowed critics and fans alike with his solo album ‘XX’; but is he any closer to discovering who the ‘real’ Mino is?
Tumblr media
Mino's journey is an ongoing one and 'XX' is a chapter that marks an artistic coming-of-age on this wild ride.
Understanding Song Minho is kind of like catching lightening in a bottle; impossible to do but the idea itself is so dazzling, you need to give it a shot anyway. Tall and blonde with bleached eyebrows and sharp features, Song–better known mononymously as Mino–cuts quite the intimidating figure. He’s intelligent, polite and forthcoming on every answer and there’s an elegance to him that’s instantly appealing. There’s one little thing that proves to be more charming than any of this, however, and it comes in the form of a little note he sends on email after the interview; “Thank you for your interest!” it reads cheerfully, accompanied by a smiley emoji. “I hope we do it again when Winner’s back!” It’s simple but sweet and suddenly there’s yet another dimension to the chic, fierce rapper we’re used to seeing onscreen.
Before sitting down with Rolling Stone India for a conversation in December, the 25-year old musician’s schedule through 2018 included the release and promotion of a full LP with his band Winner, a Japan tour, a more extensive Asia tour, a series of performances across his home country South Korea, starring roles in several variety shows and a feature on YG Entertainment labelmate and his senior Seungri’s viral hit track “Where R U From.” November was busiest for him with the release of his first solo LP XX, a 12-track feast of hip-hop, tradition, emotion and culture. December finally closed with yet another single with Winner and a series of year-end performances in Korea.
While a bit of a break is warranted after the whirlwind of activity, Mino confirms he has no plans to take it easy in 2019. “Winner will release a full album this year,” he reveals cheerfully. “I cannot talk about our plan in advance, but we are preparing a surprise gift with a great musician!” The four-member K-pop band are working on their upcoming third LP and have already begun their tour schedules in full force– they’re currently on a six-city run of the United States with stops in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago and New York.
Tumblr media
Over the past year Mino has embraced the avant-garde with ease, stepping away from his swag-heavy hip-hop image and slipping into a more elegant avatar.
As an artist, Mino is full of surprises with an evolution that’s been thrilling to map. He started his career as a rapper in South Korea’s vibrant underground hip-hop scene back in 2010 (when he was just 16) but success took a while to come along. He debuted briefly in 2011 with a group called BoM before its premature disbandment in 2013, and then finally signed with leading music label YG Entertainment as a trainee. In 2014 he got his big break after participating in TV channel Mnet’s reality-survival program Win: Who Is Next and ending up as a member of the winning Team A–which would go on to form Winner and debut that same year. He shot to fame quickly this time around, gaining attention as a solo artist after finishing as runner-up on the fourth season of South Korean hip-hop survival competition Show Me The Money in 2015. With several eyes on him, he wowed with a more bluesy, melancholic persona on Winner’s 2016 EP EXIT: E. That same year he and YG Entertainment labelmate Bobby announced a duo project titled MOBB, which showed off a completely different, swag-heavy, fun-loving attitude, but in that EP he included “Body,” a solo single that blended sex and passion with angst and regret. Winner’s discography as of late has been bright, tropical and electronic-pop and he’s able to adapt to it effortlessly as well. His career trajectory spells ‘chameleon’ and even in times of trial there’s a sense of chill around him, as though deep inside he knows everything’s going to work out.
Over the past year Mino has embraced a life of avant-garde with ease, stepping away from his swag-heavy hip-hop image and slipping into a more elegant avatar. He seems more comfortable and willing to express himself in ways outside of music. He’s always had fondness for art but now seems to revel in it, regularly posting images of artwork he’s created on Instagram, participating in media projects, exhibitions and editorials. Last year, he displayed some of his own artwork at an exhibit titled ‘Burning Planet.’ The pieces were a combination of installation art with media and performance art which explored the idea of burnouts, stress and humanity’s exhausting pace of birth, work, death. It’s morbid, futuristic and almost prophetical in its warnings about the pressure society puts on young people and quickly gained critical acclaim. Mino remains modest in the wake of all the praise, saying, “I do not know if I have had any talent when I was young, but I painted as a hobby since I was a kid. So I have become interested in art naturally. It was a very good opportunity to exhibit ‘Burning Planet’ with [eye wear brand and collaborator] Gentle Monster. It was a good time to learn and experience many things.”
It’s this artistic and emotional evolution which seems to have had the biggest hand in the creation of XX. “I wanted to give a tweak to my existing image, which I guess has been heavy with hip-hop and rap. I wanted to start afresh,” he stated at a press conference in November, according to a report by the Korea Herald. XX is an extension of his performance art–dramatic, creative with an ambiguous title to boot (he’s explained he wanted his listeners to have their own interpretations of it.)  The video for the lead single “Fiancé” features imagery around birds, dreams, fantastical landscapes and more. In addition to being involved in the entire concept, Mino also contributed to the set design–there’s a giant mural of a bluebird featured in the video which he painted himself. Several fans as well as popular YouTube channels like DKDKTV have attempted to decipher the meanings behind it and he’s thrilled to see all the various discussions. “It is one of the things I enjoy the most,” he says when I ask if he ever watches these theories. “Making parts that can be interpreted in various ways… I love watching them in various interpretations.” Could he tell us which theory got closest to deciphering his work? “I will never tell which one is correct or incorrect for more diverse guesses!” he teases.
“Fiancé” has also been appreciated for its unconventional combination of trot, a form of Korean folk music, and trap. To do this, the track samples Korean veteran singer Kim Taehee’s 1969 track “Soyanggang River Maiden” and blends it with bass-heavy, rolling trap and Mino’s drawling rap. “There was no intention to use ‘Soyanggang River Maiden’ from the beginning,” Mino says. “When the song was almost 80 percent complete, [YG Entertainment CEO and music producer] Yang Hyun Suk gave me an idea of putting a part of ‘Soyanggang River Maiden’ as a sample source, and it fit perfectly into the message and vibe of this song.” The haunting sample had younger fans enthralled and searching through YouTube to listen to the original track while applauding Mino for putting a limelight on Korean pop culture and history. Because in addition to the retro sound, the music video for “Fiancé” is a fever-dream blend inspired by the Korean Joseon dynasty and modern-day angst. In the clip the rapper wanders between fantasy and reality, dressed as an emperor as he searches the past, present and future for his one true love.
“I was getting to love myself, and everything [about that experience] is in this album.”
Is it possible that with younger artists like him using older genres like trot or paying homage to their history in music videos, it can help young listeners appreciate tradition a little bit more? Mino reveals that wasn’t really his intention at all. “In fact, I considered this song for older people than younger people,” he says, adding his plan was to erase misconceptions about hip-hop and ‘young’ music in the minds of older generations. “Even if the genre of hip-hop is popularized, it is still hard to catch up with higher age. So it seems like sampling of ‘Soyanggang River Maiden’ was a good plan for this song.” “Fiancé” has indeed added to the buzz around rappers defying expectations and stepping into traditional musical and visual territories. Hip-hop no longer has one definition and inspiration can come from anywhere. For Mino, the ideas for “Fiance” and XX came from several fragments of art. “I have so many things inspiring me, so I do not know which one to say first,” Mino says. “Among them, some works of  (Italian painter) Piero Fornasetti, various plants–especially blue roses– and the Japanese anime Devilman were in my mind. However, it’s my inner self that affected it the most. I stayed alone in the studio every time so I could be deeply involved in my work and I looked back upon myself.”
XX as a whole has been well-received thanks to its use of complex metaphors, puns and double meanings in its lyricism, but for Mino, making this record was about finding his true self. “I got down to work in earnest in the beginning of 2018 for this album,” he says. “It contains various songs ranging from a song written two-three years ago to a song written two weeks before the album came out.” The rapper has written and composed each and every track, taking a dive into his own psyche to unleash several different sides of himself. In a video teaser right before XX‘s release, Mino explained he’d made the album by “grating [his] soul into it” and the result is an LP that is diverse, clever, saucy and undoubtedly one of the best hip-hop albums of 2018. Lyrically, he tackles everything from waiting for a lost love (“Fiancé”) to calling out obsessive fans (“Agree”) and bold eroticism (“Hope”). He gets emotional on “Alarm” and “Her,” exploring heartbreak, his relationship with his fans and self discovery. “I was getting to love myself, and everything [about that experience] is in this album,” Mino tells me. “I got a lot of thoughts and experiences from it and I am so proud of the production process.”
It’s clear from the get-go that wordplay is key; in the vicious introductory track “Trigger,” Mino uses syllables in its Korean title to play on the curse word ‘shibal,’ blazing through verses of self-praise with swagger, while on “Rocket” he drops references to art, Korean mythology and more. It’s the realest taste of what he’s truly capable of and it surprises and delights in equal measure. The impressive roster of collaborators on the record include YG Entertainment’s biggest in-house producers Choice37 and Millennium, comedian and actor Yoo Byung-jae and up-and-coming vocalist Blue.D, among others. There was one artist, however, that Mino was particularly excited to work with. “It was all fun, but working with YDG was extremely impressive,” he says proudly of his collaboration with the Korean hip-hop veteran on “Bow Wow.” “It was one of my dreams from my childhood.”
Tumblr media
Mino at a press event for ‘XX’ in November 2018.
With XX being his first massive solo effort, Mino confesses there were hurdles along the way that he hadn’t expected. “The toughest part was familiarity,” he says, adding, “When I listened to songs hundreds of times to make a song, I always got confused. That’s the hardest thing to me.” Working alone means more pressure and he says he finds it more peaceful when he’s working with the members of Winner– Hoony, Yoon and Jinu. “When I work alone… I get sensitive because I am dissatisfied with any result. When I work with Winner, it’s really a load off my mind. Each member has their own roles, and I think we fit in nicely with each other.”
Mino’s journey has been wild, difficult, rewarding and a little messy–we’ve covered a lot of it over the course of the interview, but it still feels like we’re scratching the surface. He seems to agree; there’s a lot more he wants to consume and learn and a lot more he wants to show all his fans, old and new. “I am always thankful to fans who have supported me from the beginning and everyone who has known me since yesterday,” he says. “I will try to put a little more of my own personality and style on next album, and I also want to challenge something that no one expected.” While the search for the ‘real’ Mino continues, XX is a chapter in his story that marks a significant turn; he’s found a balance between the sexy rapper we see with Winner, the exuberant hip-hop dudebro he turns into with MOBB and the expressive poet he is as a soloist. It might not be lightening in a bottle just yet, but it’s pretty damn close.

The nominees themselves are one of the most exciting parts of the Anime Awards, and in just one short month, the six nominees per category will be shared with the world on the Anime Awards Website. Please keep an eye out for more details, and fun ways to share your votes and predictions with your fellow fans.
Tumblr media
Last year, we added more judges than ever before — that is, until now! As both the audience of Crunchyroll and the Anime Awards becomes increasingly international, so too has the panel of judges. With more than fifty judges representing dozens of unique countries and cultures around the world from all walks of life, I can safely say that this year’s class of judges is the best the Anime Awards has ever had.
The judges for the Anime Awards play a critical role, determining the nominees for every category in an independent capacity, based entirely on their own critical perspectives and opinions of the anime released in the last year. Judges were hand-selected by Crunchyroll’s community team based on their reputation, regard, and credibility, and represent large swaths of the huge diversity that can be found in the anime fandom at large.
Just as with last year, the judge nomination process will also go towards the final winners of each Anime Award, weighed 70:30 with fan votes. Based on the last four years of Anime Awards, we found that this ratio achieved the most meaningful results: the fan vote was impactful and flipped several categories, but the awards were not simply a popularity contest and many underrated titles were still able to take home awards. We saw more positivity than ever before with last year’s changes, and so we're happy to keep this same ratio for this year's event.
As a note the bios you’ll see below were written by the judges in their language of choice and have been adopted for your pleasure in whichever language you’re reading right now. Beyond translation, they have only been altered by the Crunchyroll team for clarity. Without further delay, please meet our judges for the 2021 Anime Awards!

yeah the department meeting depressed the hell out of me and convinced me that i’m terribly unfulfilled at work, but also, that maybe all that comes from within and i will carry this sadness in me everywhere i go
because everyone else my age seems to be coping alright, even if they’re not doing excellently
they actually have dreams and strive for healthy human relationships
meanwhile, i can’t seem to reciprocate or reach out, nor do i really want to
maybe this just isn’t the job for me
my colleagues are sweet and competent people, though. honestly, bosses don’t get better than this
one of them gave me a book voucher today haha which i spent immediately on endo’s silence
‘of course it’s jap lit,’ said C
yes, of course lol. i’d actually like to research japanese literature more seriously
i’ve got women court writers from the heian period like sei shonagon and murasaki shikibu on my reading list
//
was watching a ballet dancer break down yuzuru hanyu’s chopin program at pyeongchang. what i didn’t notice before was how hanyu doesn’t quite breathe through his mouth at the end of a performance; he breathes through his nose instead, so he -- and other figure skaters, i assume -- ends every performance with composure and grace and not like the panting monsters most of us are
what makes hanyu so pleasing to watch? the ballet dancer explained that when you put two dancers of equal ability side-by-side, the one with the ‘better face’ will be chosen. ‘better’ could mean more physically attractive. an expressive face with more structure and definition -- something you should be able to see from afar
that reminded of the heavy make-up they used for the actors in drama club
i can’t deny that part of hanyu’s magnetic appeal is how he looks
i should admit, too, that a part of me is so envious that a person can move the way he does. why do i desire to possess everything that is beautiful?
years ago, my therapist asked me a question that still sticks with me: ‘can you look at beautiful person and not think about wanting that beauty?’
simply put, my answer is no
i see a beautiful person and i want to be them
i don’t care if they’re dirt poor or if they have tragic family backgrounds or if they’re dumb as fuck or if they’ve raped and murdered 20 people
i want beauty and i want it all à la sharpay evans
//
later caught a podcast on suicide by a catholic pastor -- it wasn’t my intention to catch a christian podcast. i was thinking about killing myself again and wanted to hear people talk about suicide without skirting around the subject
i am only 17 minutes in but i am comforted by what the pastor said
he makes two interesting points
i) that we don’t know where a person who commits suicide ends up, but what we do know is that he goes to jesus, and god will make the judgement -- he does away with this idea of immediate and eternal condemnation for the act of suicide
ii) that doctors and clergymen have to work together to help people out of depression and to stop people from committing suicide
but there are points i disagree with
i) the pastor says that suicide can cut short this ‘plan’ that god has for you (it is believed that god has a plan for everyone) -- OK, but what if the plan was for me to precisely end my life at the age of 25, and to make others realize that this isn’t the right thing to do. alternatively, what if i were a homicidal pedophile in the making, where such tendencies would reach its peak in my thirties? coincidentally, i happen to be struggling with depression and ended up taking my own life before i could harm anyone else. what if suicide was the plan after all? it is a possibility to consider.
ii) the pastor argues very firmly that suicide is ‘sin’ for it brings pain to the people around you -- can you honestly say the same about elderly suicides? or about people who have lost all their family? we have to accept that there are people out there who aren’t loved, whose bodies are replaceable (think foxconn, sweatshops)
we don’t have enough information to make a blanket moral judgement that all suicide is sin
//
i won’t call myself a non-believer; i went through a phase of superficial pantheism haha where i saw god as the universe and the universe as god, but i no longer identify too closely with that, partly because i was working hard to fill a spiritual void back then and pantheism was the closest thing i could find to an antidote
christianity, or any institutionalized religion for that matter, has never made sense to me
simply for this reason: we don’t know if god exists
when we don’t know, we can choose to:
i) maintain that we don’t know (ie. god may or may not exist)
ii) assume the positive (ie. god exists)
iii) assume the negative (ie. god doesn’t exist)
ii) and iii) never made sense to me at all. this has been the main obstacle for me. i actually tried to get into religion between 2014-2015 lol
something else i don’t believe in: judgement before god
maybe i’m not understanding the bible correctly (frankly, i wanted to fall asleep after the first page of genesis), but how can you judge my lived experience when you have never had to live as a mere mortal with no extraordinary destiny or circumstances yourself?
i refuse to be judged by something like that
//
i cook like a sissy
i hold the spatula at an arm’s length away and i approach the pan from a 45 degree angle so that i don’t get hot oil splattering onto my forearm
//
suicide ideas
a few ways i’m thinking of committing suicide right now. i think i mentioned method #1 on my old blog, but not the others. i’m filing them all here for reference. these are what worked:
1. MBS - death of wilim/willim charles
https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/man-who-fell-from-52nd-floor-of-mbs-probably-committed-suicide-coroner
https://www.asiaone.com/print/News/AsiaOne%2BNews/Crime/Story/A1Story20130516-423065.html
A tourist, whose body was badly severed in the fall from the 52nd floor of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel last June, was likely to have committed suicide, a coroner court heard on Tuesday.
The head and torso of Mr Wilim Charles were found on a 17th floor balcony while his legs were found in the fountain on the ground floor. Other parts of him were scattered about.
In his findings, State Coroner Imran Abdul Hamid noted that Mr Charles had used a deck chair to climb over the 1.1m-tall glass barricade of the balcony, stepped onto the planter's box and fallen to his death.
He was last seen alive smoking a cigar seated at a desk in the suite by the butler who came to carry Ms Lee's bags down at about 4pm. Casino records showed that although he was a Diamond Reward member, he was not a frequent gambler, having last played on April 14 last year. There was also about $43,000 in cash in the suite.
i like how he died. pretty fancy to be described as being ‘last seen alive smoking a cigar seated at a desk’ and having ‘$43,000 in cash in the suite’. i’m getting noir vibes all around haha
i’m not a fan of body parts being scattered about though. so i might want to bring this down to maybe the 30th-40th floor if i decide to attempt it like he did
2. kushiro coast -- death of wei qiu jie
https://japantoday.com/category/national/Body-found-on-Kushiro-coast-may-be-that-of-missing-Chinese-woman
https://www.scmp.com/news/china/society/article/2108965/body-confirmed-be-chinese-tourist-missing-japan
The body of a young woman was discovered along the coastline of Kushiro City, Hokkaido, on Sunday. Police believe the body may be that of Wei Qiu Jie, 26, a Chinese woman who has been missing since July 23.
Around 6 a.m. on Sunday, a man who was kelp fishing along the beach at Katsurakoi, discovered the body that had washed ashore and immediately notified the police, Fuji TV reported. The woman had long hair and was wearing a beige skirt and white blouse, similar to the clothes Wei was wearing when she was last seen.
She had left her hotel in Sapporo on July 22 for the day, leaving some of her luggage behind, but never returned.
Police later discovered she checked into a hotel at Akan Lake, about 300km from Sapporo, the same night she left Sapporo.
Witnesses said she boarded a tour boat at the lake and was last seen on surveillance camera footage at a convenience store in the nearby coastal city of Kushiro on July 23.
i like this one because i’m seeing millais’ ophelia in the water. the painting has been my laptop lock screen wallpaper for years haha
unfortunately, i’m a pretty alright swimmer. i imagine that i’d fight really hard if i tried to drown myself. i’d probably need to weigh myself down with a lot of rocks in my pockets (like virigina woolf) and bind my arms and legs when i go into the water
3. burning coal briquettes in a hotel room -- death of kim jong-hyun
https://www.straitstimes.com/lifestyle/entertainment/jonghyun-lead-singer-for-south-korean-boyband-shinee-dies-reports
K-pop group SHINee member Kim Jong Hyun, 27, died on Monday (Dec 18) in an apparent suicide, according to local reports.
Police found him unconscious at 6.10pm Korea time in his own apartment located in Cheongdam-dong, in the upscale Gangnam district, after his sister made a report at 4.42pm saying that her brother seemed suicidal.
The YTN news channel, however, reported that Mr Kim had checked into a serviced residence for two nights.
Mr Kim was taken to a nearby hospital, but eventually died.
Reports suggested he died of cardiac arrest from suspected carbon monoxide poisoning.
He was found to have burned a coal briquette on a frying pan. Charcoal briquettes can cause carbon monoxide poisoning in closed rooms.
i would probably choose a hotel room that comes with a kitchenette in tokyo. i went to seoul alone to get a feel of the city as a resting place, but it didn’t vibe with me as much as tokyo did
4. yellowknife, ingraham trail - death of atsumi yoshikubo
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/north/atsumi-yoshikubo-wrote-a-suicide-note-before-leaving-japan-1.2825863
Yoshikubo, 45, was a doctor who enjoyed travelling solo. She was reported missing Oct. 27, 2014 by staff at the Explorer Hotel.
Staff at the Explorer Hotel, where she was staying by herself, found all of her luggage in her room three days after she was supposed to have checked out. They called police, who found she'd missed her flight home to Japan on Oct. 26.
At the time, police said she had been last seen walking away from the city toward Highway 4, also called the Ingraham Trail.
Because investigators found only bone fragments, they couldn't determine exactly what caused Yoshikubo's death.
They did find two notes left by Yoshikubo: one, an apparent suicide note for friends and family in Japan; the other, found by searchers with her possessions in the bush in Yellowknife.
"It included... how much she loved the North, how much she loved Yellowknife, how much she loved the aurora," Menard said. "She expressed her wishes about wanting to be buried here."
unfortunately, we don’t know how exactly yoshikubo died.
but i imagine there are many ways one could die in the woods. starvation, dehydration, hypothermia, bear attack (if i’m going to go down like leo in the revenant, i expect an afterlife oscar)
i imagine it would be nice to die in the north toohttps://www.straitstimes.com/lifestyle/entertainment/jonghyun-lead-singer-for-south-korean-boyband-shinee-dies-reports
//
other suicides cases i’ve read about and will KIV when considering methods:
kate spade
christine chubbuck
sulli
hara
sylvia plath
krystal aki mizoguchi
daul kim
iris chang
kevin carter
paula goodspeed
keiko fuji
yukiko okada
simone mareuil
hanging is ideal to me. but man, what if i don’t get the knot right lol

Support Older Girl Groups Pt. 1: f(x)
This week on Support Older Girl Groups we are supporting f(x). If you want to know why you should participate even if this week isn’t about a group you stan, check out this post.
So what this is is sort of a masterpost of ways to support the group of the week. And since it’s my favorite group and people have been taking about their status as a group a lot lately, I thought a logical place to start would be f(x).
This is far from everything f(x) has released, I just chose a few for each category so it would be easier to get the view up in a noticeable way. If you can’t put your effort into everything on this list, put your effort into 4 Walls, Free Somebody, All Mine, and On My Own.
About the group
F(x) is an SM girl group that debuted in 2009. They were originally considered Asia’s Dance Group by SM.The members are Victoria, Amber, Luna and Krystal. Sulli also used to be part of the group. If you are looking for some different concepts, f(x) is definitely for you! They have done so many different concepts. I think you will notice their individuality as a group immediately!
Title tracks
4 Walls was their last music video and album to be released. It was released in 2015, so quite a while ago. It’s currently at 27,161,327 views, but deserves way more. Let’s get it to 30mil!
Red Light came out in 2014 and was their last music video and album with Sulli. It currently has 36,027,739 views, so it’s close to 40mil! it would be really awesome to get it to 50 mil sooner rather than later too.
Rum Pum Pum Pum is pretty close to 50 mil, and it would be really great for them it! It currently has 46,309,778 views.
Stations
All Mine was the last music video f(x) has released. it was released in July of 2016 and currently has 8,411,608 views. Let’s get it to 10mil! This is a really special music video and song because it had been so long since f(x) had any activities together, and it has been a long time since, Also the music video was directed by Amber! I would be really great if this music video in particular had a big spike in views!
Heartbeat is an amazing and sweet song by Amber and Luna. It’s honestly such a great song and Amber and Luna make such a could unit (they really should be a subunit.) But the music video is still yet to reach 1mil views! It’s currently at 901,491 views. That’s not that bad for a Station song but Heartbeat and the group deserve so much more. Let’s get it to 1mil and then much farther from there!
Borders is an Amber solo that she wrote and is very special to her. Honestly I cried to first time I heard it, it’s just too dang relatable lmao. Another thing that you might like is it is in English, and it has subtitles in both Korean and English. It currently has 5,221,617 views, which is actually pretty good for a Station song. But Amber has really been having hard times with her solo work an SM, so a spike in the views could really help.
Solos
Free Somebody is Luna’s solo debut from May 2016. It’s such a great song that shows off both her beautiful voice and dance skills. Sadly it was not promoted well and got overshadowed by other SM comebacks, so it didn’t do nearly as well as it should. It currently has 8,154,679 views. Let’s get it to 10mil!
On My Own was part of Amber’s Crossing series that she was making on her own Youtube Channel. Sadly, Crossing was never finished. We are not sure what happened to it, but based off of her cryptic Instagram posts (still the last two she posted if you want to go read them), it doesn’t sound like it was good. On My Own is a really important song to support for the same reason as Borders. It’s currenly at 1,040,418 views. Let’s get it to 2mil! and then maybe even 5mil!
I Don’t Want to Love You was not exactly a solo, but a collaboration between Krystal and June One Kim. It’s also not under SM and it’s not in Korean so it wasn’t that popular. But watching it will still help support f(x)! Also, it’s a really interesting and different song. The music video is actually a little spooky (also the intro kinda drags on) But still please support it becasue it’s a good song! It currently has 453,638 views. Let’s get it to 1mil!
Other Stuff to Check Out
Luna’s Alphabet is a vlog series on Youtube that Luna has been making, and it’s getting a season 3 soon! The videos usually range from around 5 to 15 mins long. And don’t worry, there are English subtitles!
Amber’s channel is where she posted her Crossing songs. There are only 4 videos but it wouldn’t hurt to subscribe anyway!
What The Pineapple was Amber’s Youtube channel for basiclly anything else she wanted to post. There are lots of funny things on it you should really check it out! Also it is primarily in English but there are Korean subtitles. Sadly it has been a long time since she last posted to it, but maybe if the views spike she will bring it back, or get to start something like Luna’s Alphabet.
Ending Notes
Please reblog this and share this as much as possible! This project will do no real good unless it is a group effort. And please watch the videos as much as possible! It would do the most good if you guys watched each one (or at least the title tracks) multiple times a day this week (and weeks to come.) I’m not expecting you to take the time to watch all of Luna’s Alphabet or What the Pineapple, but if you could watch all the music videos that would really help not only f(x), but all older girl groups! If you want people to put the effort to help out your favorite older girl groups, help out other people’s faves too! Remember, next week’s post could be your favorite group!
Also remember!
Listen to all of these songs on Spotify
Buy them and or the albums if you can
Look out for Victoria’s solo album coming out soon
follow them all on social media
(If there is anything that needs to be fixed about this post feel free to message me)

My BTS Journey
(2014) Philippines I heard about BTS when I was in highschool, 2014 and because my ex-bestfriend was into EXO, I often teased her about BTS an Idol group that's rising. At that time, I was only into girl groups, my bestfriend told me about EXO and I even checked them out. They had really catchy songs so I liked some of them but I was so close minded before that I didn't like guys putting makeup on(sorry for being an ignorant). I didn't really fangirl that much with boy groups' visuals but I knew some kpop boy group songs(except for BTS' songs).😭 So I didn't really check BTS at that time. (Which I'm really regretting now)💔 Also, I was a huge SONE when I was in Elementary, in the year 2012. I love all of SNSD's songs btw.💕 I was the only one in class that loves them so I was often criticized by my classmates for fangirling over kpop idols saying 'they all did plastic surgery', 'they are ugly in person', 'they are too skinny' and many more. (2015) Philippines(Jan-Aug) and London(Sep-now) Then after a year, my aunt bought a TV with cable channels so I tried searching for a certain channel with a kpop live music show(coz I love SNSD, I was hoping they'll be on a music show). When I found it, there were groups that performed. Then I saw an unusual group(BTS) receiving an award. After they've received the award, they were putting lipstick on to each other which I found very amusing and funny at the same time there there was this one guy(Kim Taehyung) who had smudged lipstick all over his lips but still was putting lipstick properly even tho it has spread in the outer area of his lips(I got so confused at that time and I found them really funny and silly for applying lipstick live on a music show, it was my first time seeing that kind of reaction after receiving an award). I got curious on the group so I searched them on google, I searched 'kpop group putting lipstick in an award show'. Then their name showed up. Then I clicked on the video and found out about V. I don't know but at that time I only liked V and nobody else on the group(I hate myself). I checked their MVs but at that time I wasn't into hard hip hop like Boy in Luv or No More Dream so I didn't really liked them as a whole (I hate myself even more now). So to conclude my 2014-2015 discovery of BTS, I only stanned one person and it was V. I even posted pictures of him on instagram. (2016-present: London) Then, at the year 2016-present, I checked on the group even more. I was introduced to BTS again as a whole by my new found friends here in London(Ruksana and Aria). Ruksana showed me videos of them that shows their personal sides (Video compilations: funny, sexy and more). Then when I went home, I started watching more. I checked their 'Fire' MV but still I didn't really enjoyed it (I hate myself again) because I was into sad songs at that time. Then I checked more of their songs such as the slower or more RNB like songs. 2016, at that time I was still into V but I was starting to get to know the other members. I learned all their names in one day. When I was listening to more of their songs, when I was on a bus, I put my earphones on and started distinguishing their voices. Then I started watching more Youtube videos, and concerts. I'm always having atleast 4 hrs of sleep because in the middle of the night, I was watching BTS related videos. I followed them on every social media accounts. I bought an Album for the first time: Wings. I got so obsessed and until now I'm still obsessed. Although, I can't buy more of BTS' related merch, CDs, and DVDs because I'm not yet earning anything yet, I vote, stream and I am up to date to everything they are doing. Now that I'm already deep into BTS, I always think of not having a bias coz in BTS, every single one of them is a bias wrecker and every day, they wouldn't let me have 1 bias. I love every single one of them. It's fun being a fan, being an ARMY, you experience every emotions everyday. Kim Namjoon kim Seokjin Min Yoongi Jung Hoseok Park Jimin Kim Taehyung Jeon Jungkook Bangtan! ..... ..... I usually fangirl easily but then I fangirl for only a short time, I get bored easily that's why but with BTS, I think I'm going to fangirl for a very long time. The only idol that I've been fangirling until now aside from BTS is Sarah Geronimo that is because she is almost the same as BTS (for me) as she is really different on and off the stage. I've been a fangirl since I was introduced to the world of entertainment and TV so I think when I was 8-10, I'm not sure coz I just woke up one day knowing I'm a hardcore fangirl of her. Also both BTS and Sarah are very humble and down to earth, they know where they came from and how they struggle, that is the biggest factor on why I stan both artists. I love BTS! I love Sarah Geronimo! I am an ARMY! I am a Popster. 💜💗💘

WHAT TO WATCH THIS WEEKEND August 2, 2019  - LUCE, THE NIGHTINGALE, TEL AVIV ON FIRE, THE RED SEA DIVING RESORT
There are some really good movies out this week, and I want to shine a bit of focus on some of the limited releases before getting to the bigger releases.
Tumblr media
First up, there’s Julius Onah’s LUCE (NEON), starring Kelvin Harrison Jr. from last year’s excellent Monsters and Men as the title character, a well-liked African-American high school student who seems to have it all together. His adopted parents, played by Naomi Watts and Tim Roth, love their son and are willing to give him the benefit of a doubt when one of Luce’s teachers, played indelibly by Octavia Spencer, finds something in Luce’s locker and tries convincing his parents that maybe he’s not the perfect son.
This film deals with the difficulties of being an African-American student in modern times and the expectations put on you. In Luce’s case, he was adopted after being rescued from an African war zone by his adopted parents, and they think he can do no wrong. When Luce’s teacher finds something in his locker, she thinks he’s putting on a front and fooling everyone but her.
Luce reminds me quite a bit of HBO’s Big Little Lies, a series I absolutely loved, because it’s about the interactions of these characters and their differing viewpoint on what’s happening. It also reminded me of the remarkable work done by Todd Field in his two movies, particularly In the Bedroom.
The performances all around are fantastic, making me think that this could work just as well as a play*, but there are some nice surprises in there like Andrea Bang as Stephanie Kim, a fellow student who might have been involved in an assault. I would not be remotely shocked if Spencer gets another Oscar nomination for her role in this (which ends up being far more complex a role than the one she played in the thriller Ma), but the entire cast and the way Onah tells this story is equally riveting.
What’s especially good about Luce is that it’s likely to start a lot of conversations, hopefully between white and black viewers, but it’s just one of the better adult dramas this year, and I’m sure Onah* has a strong future ahead if he keeps making movies like this. (Note: I feel a little silly because when I wrote this I didn’t realize that the movie was indeed based on a play and that Onah had directed The Cloverfield Paradox which went straight to Netflix.)

Jennifer Kent’s THE NIGHTINGALE (IFC Films) is the follow-up to her 2014 horror film The Babadook, which is thought to be one of the best horror films of the past decade – and I’m not going to disagree with that sentiment.
The Nightingale is a very different movie, a period revenge thriller set during the days when Australia was caught in a war between its indigenous people and the British army. In this environment is Aisling Francisoci’s Clare, a young Irish ex-convict who has been bought into service by an Army officer (Sam Claflin), who will not release her after she fulfills her duties.  One night, her husband and baby daughter are killed, sending Clare on a path of vengeance. Along for that journey is Baykali Ganambarr’s Billy, an indigenous tracker who knows that being black means he’s just as at risk of getting murdered as Clare.
This is not the groundbreaking follow-up some might be expecting, but it’s still very good, and it proves what a talented filmmaker Kent is, both with the screenplay that’s authentic to the times and the way she directs
I think what surprised me most about The Nightingale was how pretty boy actor Sam Claflin is able to play a complete slimeball, which is very much against the characters we’ve seen him play before. This is as much a testament to Claflin as it is to Kent for realizing he had it in him.
Some people might try to sway you off seeing Kent’s film due to the violence, which includes brutal rape, but honestly, I’ve seen far worse from male filmmakers like Lars von Trier and Gasper Noé, and in this case, it’s keeping with the way women would have been treated during these times.
I don’t think The Nightingale will be for everyone, especially those who first became fans of Kent’s from her earlier venture into horror. This is a tough and serious drama that still has genre elements, but it leaves a lasting imprint on you, not always in a good way.
Rating: 7.5/10

Lastly, I want to draw special attention to Sameh Zoabi’s TEL AVIV ON FIRE (Cohen Media), a witty comedy set in modern-day Israel where a Palestinian soap opera filled with dysfunctional characters becomes the center of a conflict more bizarre than the one in the Middle East. It stars Kais Nashif as Salam, a consultant on his uncle’s show who gets stopped at a checkpoint by a soldier Assi (Yaniv Biton) who doesn’t like the way that the Israeli soldier is portrayed on the show. He offers Salam a few tips, and Salam’s uncle and the show’s primadonna star like them enough to promote Salam to writer… except he relies on Assi to help him with that duty.
The movie definitely veers into the world of the absurd as Assi has to contend with his wife (an avid fan of the series) and Salam is trying to reconnect with an old flame, all the while dealing with the tense situation between the Israelis and Palestinians in the region.
This movie mainly surprised me because I didn’t go into it expecting a comedy, so when it proved to be particularly witty and entertaining, I was glad I made the effort to see it.
In fact, I had a chance to speak with Zoabi last week, an interview I’ll be running soon, but I wanted to share a few tidbits from it now.
“The comedy decision was more of a natural progression as my voice as a filmmaker,” he told me. “My first feature was a comedy, and I went to school here at Columbia University and did my masters here and did my BA in Tel Aviv, which is interesting because in Tel Aviv, I studied mostly European cinema more than American cinema, so the arthouse world is more prominent in the studies there. Then you come to the U.S., and it’s a totally different business, which is entertainment. I always felt like it was interesting if you could find your voice in the middle where you can be talking about something important, but still entertain at the same time. I think gradually I realized while watching the news and the media all the time, it’s always the fighters and the victims, and there’s nothing in between, which is a daily reality that I grew up with, which is that people are funny. People don’t wake up in the morning and think, ‘Oh, my God, today I’m going to go kill five, six people.’ They wake up in the morning and they still have to do [everyday] things. These are the characters that never make it to the big media. I grew up with comedies. People in my village, my town, my family, they never talk about serious things. It’s almost like every third line has to be a joke. I always said that if I want to talk about these issues and I want to present the reality closer to what it is, I think humor is an essential part of it. It comes really natural. Once I look at a situation, it’s almost like back home when I tell my friends a serious story, everyone is waiting for the punchline. It’s not an effort. It’s something you grow up with.”
“As a writer, you evolve of course, and hopefully you get better from one film to the next, but the voice of it has always been there, and I love the creation of comedy, because it brings people together in different ways.”
“For this film in particular, it cannot be done without a comedy, because it’s all about stereotypes,” he continued. “It’s about how Palestinians see the Israelis and how Israelis see the Palestinians. The best way to deal with it is a comedy, and the seriousness comes from the soap opera.”
“I actually grew up watching more soaps than films. I grew up two TV channels, and my Mom controls the remote, so we always had to watch soap operas. Years after, with all these satellites and millions of stations, there’s more soaps in the Middle East – from Turkey, from Syria, from Lebanon, Egypt. When I grew up, we only watched Egyptian soap operas, and this soap opera in my film is almost an homage to one that was very popular about an Egyptian spy who comes to Tel Aviv. I changed the narrative and made it a woman, but what’s interesting is that when I was writing the film, I was home with my Mom watching one of her soap operas, and she was crying at a moment when I was laughing, because of the overacting. I asked, ‘Mom, do you really believe this?’ and she goes, ‘What? The movies you make are better?’”
I’ll have more from this interview soon, but if you have a chance, do check out Tel Aviv on Fire, which opens at the Quad Cinemaand the Landmark 57in New York on Friday.
Of course, the big movie of the weekend is gonna be Universal Pictures’ FAST AND FURIOUS PRESENTS: HOBBS AND SHAW, and I’ve written quite a bit about that over at The Beat, including my interview with writer/producer Chris Morgan and a box office preview. My review will be live later on Wednesday. Not sure what more I can say about the movie… I enjoyed it!
I’m also excited that A24 is expanding Lulu Wang’s THE FAREWELL nationwide this weekend after it broke into the top 10 last week. I’ve been meaning to see it again myself and probably will this weekend, but it gets my highest recommendation, especially if you want to learn more about Chinese culture and traditions than you may have been able to get out of Crazy Rich Asians. Even though this one also stars Awkwafina, it’s a very different movie and it’s a very different, more dramatic role for the actor, and I wouldn’t be shocked if she’s in the Oscar (and Indie Spirit) conversation at year’s end.
LIMITED RELEASES
Opening in L.A. this Friday at the Landmark Nuart and in New York at the Quad on August 9 is Garret Price’s Love, Antosha, co-produced by Like Crazy director Drake Doremus, which is about actor Anton Yelchin, who was at the peak of his career when his life was cut down suddenly in a bizarre accident. This is a really sold documentary that’s quite heartbreaking, and I want to write more about it and hope to soon…
Opening at New York’s Film Forum on Wednesday is Stephen Wilkes’ doc Jay Myself (Oscilloscope), a film about photographer Jay Maisel, whose six-floor building The Bank on Bowery and Spring Street has been wrapped in mystery until the filmmaker is given access just before Maisel’s planned move after selling the building.  It will open in L.A. on August 18.
One movie I had heard about out of Sundance but didn’t have a chance to see was Britt Poulton and Dan Madison’s Them That Follow (1091), which has an amazing cast that includes Oscar winner Olivia Colman, Walton Goggins, Alice Englert, Kaitlyn Dever from Book Smart, Jim Gaffigan, Thomas Mann and more. It takes place in the Appalachias in a community of snake handlers run by the Pastor Lemuel Childs (Goggins) as his daughter Mara (Englert) is getting ready for her wedding day when a secret is revealed about the church.
Lots of odds and ends after that, mostly low-profile stuff really …
Claudio Giovannesi’s Piranhas (Music Box Films) based on the novel by Gomorrah writer Roberto Saviano stars Francesco Di Napoli as a 15-year-old who lives with his mother in Naples in a neighborhood ruled by the Camorra mafia, although he has dreams of leaving, something that gets him involved with selling drugs.
Latin American filmmaker Mariano Llinás’ 14-hour epic La Flor (Grasshopper Films), which premiered at last year’s New York Film Festival, will open at Film at Lincoln Center in New York on Friday. It’se a “love letter to the history of cinema” filmed on three continents in six languages with the director making appearances to explain the structure. I just don’t have 14 hours to see this so I probably never will.
Adam Dick’s Teacher (Cinedigm) stars David Dasmatlhcian  (Ant-Man) and veteran comic Kevin Pollak that follows the downward spiral of DastMalchian’s high school English teacher who is trying to protect his students from bullies while challenging a wealthy patron in the community.
The other movies opening this weekend are Fred Grivois’ 15 Minutes of War (Blue Fox Entertainment), starring Alban Lenoir and Olga Kurylenko, based on the 1976 hostage crisis when Somali rebels kidnapped 21 French children; Sara Seligman’s crime-thriller Coyote Lake (Cranked Up),  Zach Gayne’s States (Indiecan Entertainment) starring Alex Essoe; and Diane Krueger’s psychological spy thriller The Operative (Vertical), directed by Yuval Adler.
I don’t know much about The Grateful Dead: Meet-Up at the Movies 2019, which is taking place on Thursday, August 1, although apparently, the entire Giants Stadium concert from June 17, 1991 will be screened.
STREAMING AND CABLE
Tumblr media
Netflix’s big release of the week is RED SEA DIVING RESORT, a dramatic thriller based on true events starring Chris Evans, Haley Bennett, Michael Kenneth Williams, Alesandro Nivola and more. It deals with the true story of a group of Ethiopian Jews who are seeking refuge from the warlords in Jerusalem, so it’s up to Evans’ Israeli special agent Ari Levinson to find a way to get them out of the country. He does so by having the Israeli government lease a rundown tourist spot in Sudan, to where the Ethiopian refugees can be brought by Michael K. Williams, as the man dedicated to saving them all.
Levinson has to deal with a lot of pushback from the government, including his handler played by Sir Ben Kingsley, but he puts together a crack team of Mossad agents (including Bennett and Nivola) to make this operation happen.
I wanted to like this movie more, due to it being based on an inspirational story, but it’s tone is all over the place, sometimes to the point of ridiculousness, and bouncing back and forth from the serious to the frivolous is not something that works in this case. I just don’t think Gideon Raff, who both wrote and directed this, is a very good filmmaker, and he’s made a fairly bland movie that’s so inconsistent, it’s hard to get
It’s a shame, because this seems like an important story to tell, but when you compare it to something like the recent Hotel Mumbai… or even Terry George’s Hotel Rwanda … it’s obvious why this isn’t getting theatrical distribution.
Rating: 6/10
Also, Cindy Chupack’s Otherwood, starring Angela Bassett, Patricia Arquette and Felicity Huffman will stream starting Friday. They play three friends who are feeling forgotten on Mother’s Day, so they drive to New York to reconnect with their adult sons. (How come MY mother never has done this??!)
Also, it looks like Dear White People is back for its third season, and though I haven’t seen it, creator Justin Simien is a good dude, who I used to work with in his film publicity days, so check it out! (In other words, do as I say, not as I do.)
REPERTORY
METROGRAPH (NYC):
Opening Friday is the Metrograph’s retrospective on Czech New Wave filmmaker Luraj Herz called “In and Out of the Czechoslovak New Wave.” This continues in the tradition in the past year of rep theaters getting into the Czech New Wave, and the series includes the filmmaker’s 1978 take on Beauty and the Beast, his 1981 film Ferat Vampire, and then next week, it will screen a restoration of the filmmaker’s 1969 film The Cremator. AERO  (LA):
It now looks like the EGYPTIAN THEATRE will shut down for renovations but the Aero is back, taking up the “Highballs and Screwballs” double feature series with My Man Godfrey  (1936 )and Danger (1946)on Thursday, followed Friday with a double feature of Billy Wilder’s 1950 classic Sunset Boulevard and Preston Sturges Sullivan’s Travels (1941)… the latter two are in 35mm, the first two as DCP. On Sunday, the Art Directors Guild brings Woody Allen’s The Purple Rose of Cairo  (1985) with production designer Stuart Wurzel in person.
IFC CENTER (NYC)
Apparently, the IFC’s usual series are back… or maybe the theater finally decided to add them to its website because it looks like this began back in early July, and I didn’t see any of this on the site before this week. Anyway, I’ll try to get over the fact that I missed most of July with the August offerings. Weekend Classics: Staff Picks Summer 2019 will screen James Gray’s Two Loversthis weekend, while Waverly Midnights: Staff Picks Summer 2019 will show Stephen Chow’s Kung Fu Hustle and Late Night Favorites: Summer 2019 will show… for the 5,000th time… Ridley Scott’s Alien. (There must be a lot of demand since this seems to show at the IFC Center every month.) Also, “Abbas Kiarostami: A Retrospective” continues over the next few weeks with two more panels by film critic Godfrey Chesire and Jamsheed Akrami this Saturday and Sunday.
FILM OF LINCOLN CENTER (NYC):

BAM’s series “We Can’t Even: Millennials on Film”  continues this week with Beach Rats, The Bling Ring, Tangerine, Greta Gerwig’s Oscar-nominated Lady Bird, David Fincher’s The Social Networkand the Edward Snowden doc Citizenfour, basically movies from the last ten to fifteen years that appeal to Millennials. MUSEUM OF THE MOVING IMAGE (NYC):
The “See It Big! 70mm” series is a bit of a knock-off of what Lincoln Center did a few years back, but some of the same movies will be shown including Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, as well as Alfonso Cuaron’s Roma, plus more in the coming weeks. Jim Henson’s Labyrinth, starring Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie, will screen every afternoon from Thursday to Sunday as part of its “Summer Matinees: Fantastic Worlds” series. Note
Hello, I'm new to High4, and I would like to know where to start off with them, what music videos to watch etc.
Hello and welcome!
I’d recommend watching all their music videos in order of release, just to enjoy their music and get a feel of what they’ve done and how they’ve changed musically over the years. I’ve linked them all in our HIGH4 intro page, which you can find here, and it has some more background on each one. I’ll link them again:
Not Spring, Love, or Cherry Blossoms ft. IU (2014)
A Little Close ft. Lim Kim (2014)
Headache (2014)
Day by Day (2015)
Baby Boy (2015)
D.O.A/ Dead or Alive (2015)
HookGA (2016)
Love Line (2017)
Then I think you should watch their “Who Am I” series (it’s just three videos) which was uploaded by 1theK in 2014 shortly after debut - here’s a playlist
Here’s another playlist of subbed HIGH4 videos - there are a bunch of interviews and more fun videos and I think they’re worth watching, especially their ASC features (Headache era - D.O.A era) and this particular Pops in Seoul video, which is my personal favorite interview they’ve done. Here’s another interview they did for Day by Day which I also think was a lot of fun…despite their hairstyles lmao.
This is a playlist made by N.A.P (their company) of the videos in which they’ve performed live, had interviews, radio features, and some other random sponsored videos. Most are from 2015 and 2014 because they weren’t very active in 2016 and not much in 2017 either. I liked to go through them all because they’re a lot of fun, but here are my personal favorites that I think anyone would enjoy too. You might notice that most of them are from Baby Boy era! It was a really fun era for all fans
Super K-pop (radio) Baby Boy & Say Yes
24 hour idol (unsubbed) 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5
Headache Show Champion 140910 (REALLY FUN PERFORMANCE)
Dance covers (there are maybe six in total but I’ll link my favorite two - from predebut) Ball - Work That
K-pop in Incheon - Baby Boy
Alex DJed for Super Kpop (radio channel) for some time back in 2015 - it’s an English channel and he’s speaking English only throughout, and here’s a playlist if you’re interested
In late 2015, during D.O.A promotions, they were featured by a channel called IDOL X IDOL and they posted 10 videos in total, all subbed aside from the first episode - Here’s the first subbed video. I can’t emphasize enough how fun and what a gift this series was tbh you should just see for yourself it was a real blessing
Finally, here’s a playlist also made by N.A.P called “High4 Real Story”. This is like every high5′s treasure. They’re just fun videos and clips made from way back during debut to early 2017. I really recommend just scrolling down to the bottom of the playlist and starting from oldest to most recent. Most of them are unfortunately unsubbed, but they’re really lots of fun nonetheless. There are seven videos that were subbed by the company itself in late 2016 - it includes this really fun and funny thing they did that I won’t explain because you should just watch it! (1 - 2- 3). Sunggu and Myunghan also filmed some fancy videos for song covers they did and I think these would be good to watch too - you’ll find them on the playlist. Watching a bunch of unsubbed videos might sound a bit tedious but I really think they’re worth it! If you liked HIGH4 you’ll definitely enjoy them it’s really not a chore
Just something I wanted to say: you might not know this and my saying this is not at all meant to deter you from enjoying the group, but HIGH4 are going through some uncertain times right now. We don’t really know what they’re planning or what they’re going to do, and earlier in the year it was announced that Sunggu would be leaving the group, so there’s a lot that we don’t understand and haven’t had explanations for or even just closure. I also want to stress that even with all that’s been going on and all that we don’t know or understand, loving this group has really given me a lot of happiness in my life and made me feel genuinely proud to be a fan, and I think a lot of fans feel the same way.
Good luck and have fun! Let us know if there’s anything else

Supernatural Survey
I was tagged by @starsinursa, thank you!:)
1. What season did you start watching Supernatural? I started watching in 2014, after I came across a re-run of Changelings. Before that, I’d heard of the show, but didn’t think anything of it except that the leads are pretty hot^^. Changelings got me hooked so fast though, I thought, there’s a show in which every episode is like a little horror story niice:D. This episode is still one of my faves tbh, the monster-kids were so creepy. Yeah, then I heard sth of the angel that marches into the show in S4 and I just wanted to binge to his introduction tbh:P.
2. Who was the first character you fell in love with? Dean, I’d say. At first, he was this standard macho male lead but it shone through pretty fast that there was more to it than the stereotypical action hero, like all the times he tried so desperately to keep his little family together.. it just breaks your heart, oh Dean<3
3. Who was a character that you hated at first but grew to love? hmm.. Bela? I think I grew to love her in my first rewatch, because then I learned to appreciate characters who made life hard for the boys:P (I didn’t ‘hate’ her though, that’s a little too strong..) And Crowley is a little more difficult, since I liked him at first, then totally disliked him for all the shit he pulled in S8 with Kevin and Linda and Sarah and then I liked him again.. he’s a tough one to like^^  Maybe Amara? I just hate what they did with the ‘romantic’ non-consensual bond with Dean and think she has so much more potential than what they did with her, because her arc was pretty inconsistent tbh.. In retrospect.. I probably can’t love her because I kinda have a grudge at this whole thing but I appreciate the (largely unused) potential she brought on the table..
4. Which character would you most want to be in a long-term relationship with? uhmm.. I would say Cas but I want him to date Dean so:P Jimmy? Kevin? Benny? idk I don’t really think about this kinda thing... I love the characters but I don’t imagine dating them, you know?
5. If you could go on a date with just one character, which one would you choose? One date? Dean would probably be a total gentleman;)
6. What would you do on that date? Dinner and a movie?:P And I don’t do LARPing but I bet it would be fun with Dean. Or Charlie. Or both;)
7. Which character would you most want to be like? Charlie, because she embodies an optimistic view on life, bravery and sass, the holy trinity I strive for;) Plus, my favorite Charlie quote: “I realized the only way to get away with being me is to be as indispensable as possible” - words to live by^^
8. Which character would you most want to see brought back from the dead? CHARLIE CHARLIE CHARLIE!!! And Kevin and Eileen!!! And Alicia, because her death gave me a weird sort of bitterness.. she was such a fun character with so much potential behind her and without her Max is just a depressing character to me so yeah.
9. Which character would you most like to punch? Metatron, then I’d bribe him to write a bucklemming character into the show and punch them:P
10. Who is your absolute favorite character? Cas!:D
11. Which “Big Bad” do you think was the worst? Lucifer just had the most round arc in S5
12. Which character are you most like? if you cross out the intelligence level, Kevin? Or Claire maybe? Though they’re both braver than I am^^
13. What death hit you the hardest? Charlie because it was just so dumb an unnecessary. Same to Eileen. And Kevin. Alicia with the above mentioned reason too. Bobby.
14. What season finale hit you the hardest? Season 6. It was heartbreaking but I liked the angst. If only they had done something about Cas sooner in S7..

You keep those” - Dean (pls stop me xD)
23. If you could cast one famous actor in an episode of SPN, who would you choose? I don’t really know him but I’d say John Barrowman who everyone wants for human!Impala. Because I really really wanna see Jensen’s Dean’s face when he sees his Baby is a guy:P

Idk, a fun character that’s also damn tough and doesn’t take any shit from the boys. Also, she’d be the one saving the day pls:P (this would be AU!me though because I can’t act for the life of me and I bet I’d be generally pretty embarrassing if I’d see J2M in person:P)
29. What do you hope to see in the next season? Latest story from https://movietvtechgeeks.com/no-alcohol-tiger-woods-kris-humphries-remembered/
No alcohol for Tiger Woods and Kris Humphries remembered
Some stars just don’t learn… Once again, golf pro Tiger Woods’ reckless driving has landed him in trouble, as he was pulled over while driving intoxicated in Jupiter, Florida. Early on Monday morning, the athlete’s erratic driving caught the attention of law enforcement, which subsequently led to him being charged with a DUI. According to sources close to local law enforcement in Jupiter, it was not only Woods’ “erratic” driving (he was apparently swerving “all over the road”) that triggered red flags for the police, the golf player was also, reportedly, being extremely “arrogant” when he eventually pulled over and engaged with the on-duty officers. In addition, Tiger supposedly refused to comply with the officers’ request for him to blow into a breathalyzer, which in the state of Florida, warrants an automatic arrest and license suspension. While Tiger was taken to the station around 3 AM in the morning, it was not until nearly 11 AM that he was finally released. Sources close to the star claim that he is currently trying to find out if the officers he was dealing with were wearing body cameras, as he feels that he was not treated fairly. There two parties involved are definitely spewing out opposing stories of what really went down (i.e. Tiger vs. Florida law enforcement) early Monday morning. However, if we were to base our beliefs on the look of Tiger in his latest mug shot, it seems as though there was good reason for why he didn’t want to blow into the breathalyzer. Tiger Woods attributed an "unexpected reaction" to prescription medicine for his arrest on a DUI charge that landed him in a Florida jail Monday for nearly four hours. Woods, the 14-time major champion who had back surgery five weeks ago, was arrested on suspicion of DUI at about 3 a.m. Monday and taken to Palm Beach County jail. He was released on his own recognizance. An arrest report might be available on Tuesday, Jupiter Police spokeswoman Kristin Rightler said. "I understand the severity of what I did, and I take full responsibility for my actions," Woods said in a statement Monday evening. "I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved. What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications. I didn't realize the mix of medications had affected me so strongly." Woods apologized to his family, friends and fans and said, "I expect more from myself, too." "I will do everything in my power to ensure this never happens again," he said. Woods, whose 79 victories rank No. 2 on the PGA Tour's career list, has not competed for nearly four months. He is out for the rest of the season while he recovers from fusion surgery performed April 20 in Texas. In an update posted Wednesday on his website, he said the surgery provided instant relief from pain and that he hasn't "felt this good in years." Police said Woods was arrested on Military Trail, a six-lane road, south of Indian Creek Parkway. Woods did not say in his statement where he had been or what he was doing at that hour. Jail records show that the 41-year-old was booked into jail at 7:18 a.m. and released at 10:50 a.m. The jail released a booking photo of Woods in a white T-shirt. Rightler, the police spokeswoman, said she did not have details about the circumstances leading to Woods' arrest, nor did she have any information about whether the arrest involved drugs or alcohol. His agent at Excel Sports, Mark Steinberg, did not respond to a voicemail from The Associated Press seeking comment. PGA Tour spokesman Ty Votaw said the tour would have no comment. Woods said in his statement that he fully cooperated with law enforcement and thanked Jupiter Police and the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office for being professional. Notah Begay, a roommate of Woods when they played at Stanford, was empathetic. Begay was arrested for aggravated drunken driving in 2000 when he ran into a car outside a bar in New Mexico. He was sentenced to 364 days in jail, with all but seven days suspended. "It's embarrassing for Tiger, something that you can't go back and change," Begay said on Golf Channel from the NCAA men's golf championship in Sugar Grove, Illinois, where he was working for the network. "I've been there myself. ... But it was a turning point in my life. Hopefully, it's something he'll learn from, grow from, take responsibility for and use it to make some changes." Woods has not been seen at a golf tournament since he opened with a 77 at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic in February, withdrawing the next day because of back spasms. He was in Los Angeles for the Genesis Open, run by his Tiger Woods Foundation, but he did not come to the course at Riviera because of his back. He was at the Masters, but only to attend the dinner for past champions. Woods, who had been No. 1 longer than any other golfer, has not been a factor since his last victory in August 2013 as he battled through back surgeries from a week before the 2014 Masters until his most recent fusion surgery on his lower back a month ago. It was the first time Woods has run into trouble off the golf course since he plowed his SUV into a tree and a fire hydrant outside his Windermere, Florida, home in the early morning after Thanksgiving in 2009, which led to revelations that he had multiple extramarital affairs. A police report then showed that a Florida trooper who suspected Woods was driving under the influence sought a subpoena for the golfer's blood test results from the hospital, but prosecutors rejected the petition for insufficient information. A witness, who wasn't identified in the report, told the trooper he had been drinking alcohol earlier. The same witness also said Woods had been prescribed two drugs, the sleep aid Ambien and the painkiller Vicodin. The report did not say who the witness was but said it was the same person who pulled Woods from the vehicle after the accident. Woods' wife has told police that she used a golf club to smash the back windows of the Cadillac Escalade to help her husband out. He eventually was cited for careless driving and fined $164. Woods and wife Elin Nordegren divorced in 2010. He later had a relationship with Olympic ski champion Lindsey Vonn that lasted two years. It seems like lifetimes ago that Kim Kardashian was bashfully expressing her love for NBA star Kris Humphries. As you may remember, Kim married Kris back in the summer of 2011. However, after only 72 short days, the two stars called it quits, citing “irreconcilable differences.” This week, Kim dropped by Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live!, where she discussed her short-lived romance with host Andy Cohen. When recounting how she was feeling just before she officially tied the knot with Kris, Kim said, “I just thought, ‘Holy s***, I’m 30 years old. I better get this together. I better get married. I think a lot of girls do go through that where they freak out thinking they’re getting old and have to figure it out, all their friends are having kids. It was more of that situation.” Kim went on to candidly reveal, “But I knew on the honeymoon it wasn’t going to work out.” Unfortunately for Kim, she had a lot more pressure on her than the average bride. In fact, Kim actually filmed an in-depth 4-hour reality TV special for E!, which documented her and Kris’s big day in Montecito, California. The special, ironically titled Kim’s Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event, aired in mid-October and drew in over 4 million viewers both nights of its airing. Fortunately, Kim’s love life turned around soon after she and Kris called it quits. She just recently celebrated her 3rd wedding anniversary with rapper Kanye West. The two stars seem to still be happily in love and share two young children, North and Saint. Kim Kardashian thinks Kris and Caitlyn Jenner’s relationship is probably ruined forever. Asked on Andy Cohen’s “Watch What Happens Live” how likely it is “on a scale of one to 10” that the former married couple will get over the rift created by Caitlyn’s damning claims about Kris in her memoir, “The Secrets of My Life,” Kardashian said, “Zero [or] one.” She revised her answer saying, “No, two — [because of their shared daughters] Kendall and Kylie.” Kardashian added, “All fair, I think.” Jeff Bezos’ first foray into live TV is over. Media outlets have learned that Amazon’s trailblazing “Style Code Live” has been canceled after 15 months on air. “They called everyone into a staff meeting on Friday and told them they don’t have jobs anymore,” said a source close to production. “There’s no more shows, but everyone can stay on until July with pay to help cancel current bookings and wind things down.” Outlets were told the end of the project came “rather abruptly” and was a shock to the staff. Since its premiere in March 2016, the live, Monday-through-Friday show — co-hosted by former “Good Morning America” correspondent Rachel Smith, MTV’s “Total Request Live” alum Lyndsey Rodrigues and Ariana Grande’s brother Frankie Grande — has featured guests including Sarah Jessica Parker, Kourtney Kardashian, Kelly Osbourne and Ariel Winter. But on Friday, the 30-minute show deleted its social-media accounts and broke the news to staff. The show was an experiment in reinventing the QVC formula for the online generation: Viewers got beauty tips and fashion advice and could buy the featured items directly from Amazon.com. The show’s collapse comes as Bezos’s booming company finds its feet in the programming world with hit shows like “Transparent” and “The Grand Tour” — as well as flops like “Good Girls Revolt” and, now, “Style Code Live,” and as online platforms such as Instagram and Twitter battle to bring live TV to smartphones. In November 2016, the Wall Street Journal reported that Amazon is “exploring an ambitious push to infiltrate the last bastion of traditional pay-television: live sports.” Meanwhile, Bezos’ fellow mogul, former DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, recently announced WndrCo, a company dedicated to making shows for smartphones.
It was a real-life battle of the superheroes at a comic fest over the weekend — when Hulk actor Lou Ferrigno got into a brawl with “Flash Gordon” star Sam Jones, and fans had to jump in and break them up.
“I don’t know if I was the real superhero, because if there was a clash of the Titans, I would have got squashed,” said Darryn Clements, who stepped in to help separate the musclebound actors at London’s ComicCon on Saturday, according to the Sun.
Clements and other grown men in the crowd who were dressed in superhero costumes actually had to tell the 6-foot-tall actors to grow up.
“There was a large crowd around, so I told them to act like adults and grow up, as they were supposed to be there for their fans,” Clements said. “I thought this has to be calmed down because if one hits the other, it would be chaos — they are absolute monsters.”
Ferrigno, who played the volatile superhero in the 1970s TV series “The Incredible Hulk,” did not comment to the paper. But Jones, who starred in the 1980 flick “Flash Gordon,” claimed that he and his fellow actor were just trying to stop a fight between fans.
“’He and I together defused it,” Jones told the paper.
The pair seemed to bury the hatchet — they were back at the convention Sunday signing autographs for fans.
