About me!

Hi! I'm Zoë and I'm many, many things. Sometimes people ask me how I do it all and the truth is, I just love making stuff more than anything in the world!

First and foremost, I'm an independent filmmaker (of the writer/director variety) :

I've made a whole bunch of short films (We Are Bleach (2022, 23 min.), Inevitability (2021, 23 min.), Please Be Kind (2024, 4 min), etc.). These films have been on the festival circuit and have won a lot of awards and I'm really, really, really proud of that (like everyone else on tumblr, I did not win anything growing up lol). I've also written a bunch of feature screenplays that have won a lot of awards as well, including Top 10 in Francis Ford Coppola's American Zoetrope (that's my favorite because everything about Mr. Coppola inspires me and I genuinely can't believe this happened for me). I have three features currently in development, so if you're interested in getting involved in producing an epic debut feature, get in touch with me :) my projects are The Weather Just Got Sexy, Hanging Gardens of the Sea and Sky, and My World At Night.

I'm also a singer/songwriter --

--mainly doing old-school rock music but I hate being pigeonholed into a single genre. So far, I have out a punk song called Platonic Fun, a disco/alt rock song called Free, an rnb/soul/alt rock song called I Want My Time With You, and a 50s lounge jazz/soft bop song called I Adore You. I'll be coming out with my first album soon! All my songs are on Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Youtube, whatever you use. which is how I got started. I went to uni in Japan at Kyoto Seika University where I studied writing and drawing manga in Japanese! I also used to run the now defunct but still I am told iconic tumblr blog from the heyday of this site, fehyesvintagemanga

As an artist, I sometimes write and draw comics still when the mood strikes me - now they're kind of a hybrid between manga and western comics like this. Some of my favorite manga I wrote in Japanese are up on my site as well like this BL manga about two designers and a llama from the moon, or this one where I reimagined The Breakfast Club to be about what are essentially yandere weeaboos.

I make a lot of fine art at this point and there's a ton of it on my website. For instance, this larger than life watercolor of Taron Egerton and Hugh Jackman covered in Japanese and Chinese song lyrics. Or this series of watercolor/mixed media pieces inspired by (mainly) British films and comedy and also Doctor Zhivago.

I LOVE doing b&w art that lives in the borderland between illustration and fine art that could go either way depending on context like this.

Chapter 2

XY was staring at the ceiling. A week has already passed. And he still couldn't stop thinking about the day he spent with Marinette. It was the most fun he'd had in a while.

Before the whole Silencer fiasco, his father would not stop pressuring him to produce a new song. So when they met up for dinner and his dad came up with the idea of stealing someone else's music, he couldn’t bring himself to decline.

XY knew it was wrong.

But all he wanted was the chance to finally impress his dad. Bob Roth might not have the best attitude towards him, but he was all XY had left.

Xy already lost his mom. He would not lose his dad too.

At least, that's what he believed. He should've known that his father was just using him for money. According to his dad, money was the most valuable thing in life.

XY scoffed. He should've known better. He should've known that all his father thought of hi-

He felt a buzz in his pocket and his face immediately brightened. Marinette just texted him!

Marinette: what's up?

Marinette: have u been inspired yet?

Marinette gave XY the idea to just sit back and let inspiration hit him. It was a common idea but it was one that most people tend to forget in the long run.

XY: nothing much

XY: and nope.

XY: my dad has been pressuring me to come up with something tho

Marinette: ignore him

Marinette: he's just mad cause he can't get any ladies

The three dots popped up on his screen.

Marinette: OH CRAP I'M LATE

Marinette: TTYL.

XY rolled his eyes and smiled.

They've been texting back and forth these past few days. He's learned so many things about her and vice versa.

It was nice. It's been a while since XY has had a friend.

Maybe she'll be even more, XY couldn’t help but think as he ran a hand through his hair.

"Huh," XY said out loud. "Even more"

And just like that, inspiration for his next song hit him.

Marinette was thinking of a certain blonde-haired, blue-eyed musician when she heard her phone ring.

"Tikki!" she screamed, staring at her phone as if it was Hawkmoth himself.. "He's calling me. XY is calling me."

Tikki sighed and floated next to Marinette, "Maybe you should answer it. It would be pretty rude to keep him waiting."

"Right, right," Marinette answered his call and hoped her voice didn’t sound as squeaky as she thought it did.. "Hey."

"Hey."

There was a moment of awkward silence.

Marinette didn’t know what to do. She glanced at the small goddess.

Tikki rolled her eyes at their awkwardness as she gestured to the phone. Ask him why he called you, she mouthed to Marinette.

Marinette nodded. That was a smart idea. "So," Marinette cleared her throat. "Why did you call me?"

"Right, Uhm." Marinette heard him shuffling around his room. "You know how you've been asking me if I was inspired and stuff?"

Marinette's eyes grew wide and a huge smile took over her face as she started to nod before remembering that he couldn't see her. "Yep." she eagerly said, "Did you find any?"

"Yes!" Marinette could hear the excitement in his voice. "I was actually wondering if you wanted to design the outfits for my music video."

Marinette's eyes looked shocked. "Yes!" she jumped around in excitement before remembering she was still in a call with XY. "Why me though?"

XY’s voice sounded confused.. "What do you mean, why you? You're literally perfect for it. You're talented. Plus, everyone loves your designs."

Marinette’s cheeks resembled a tomato. She has never been more thankful for the fact that he couldn't see her right now.

"Thank you." Marinette managed to mumble. "That really means a lot."

"You're welcome." XY said. Marinette had a feeling he was smiling though. "I have to go and have my dad listen to the demo. But I'll text you later, okay?"

"Yep," Marinette whispered and gave Tikki a cookie. "Good luck. I know that whatever song you came up with is gonna sound good. No matter what he'll say."

Marinette heard a faint "Thanks" from the phone before the call ended.

Marinette screamed into her pillow and looked up and saw Tikki look at her with amusement. “I think I like him.”

"So, what do you think?" XY asked as his father finished listening to his song. "Is it bad? Do you think people will like it?"

Bob Roth grinned at his son. "This is a Masterpiece. Where did you find this?" He gestured to the video of XY singing the song, "Who did you steal this from?"

XY's proud smile immediately turned into a scowl. "What do you mean, who did I steal this from?" He yelled at his dad, his blue eyes glaring at him as he grabbed the demo from the table. "I made it. I came up with it myself." XY felt his eyes tearing up. "Something you would actually know if you thought of me as something more than a money-making machine."

How could he? XY thought as he climbed up the stairs. Is it that hard to believe that I could come up with something good?

XY slammed his door shut. "All I wanted was to prove to him that I wasn't a talentless son." XY put his hands on his face. "I just wanted to make him proud."

XY felt a buzz in his pocket and immediately knew that it was Marinette. After all, she’s the only one that ever texts him.

Marinette: how did it go?

Marinette: did he like it?

XY wiped away the tears that were starting to come out of his eyes. He couldn't help but smile. Marinette certainly had an effect on him.

XY: he called it a masterpiece

Marinette: yes! I knew he would like it.

XY: yeah

XY: but then he asked me who i stole it from

Marinette: THAT JERK

Marinette: WTF

Marinette: THAT's SO MESSED UP

Marinette: HOW COULD HE-

Marinette: DO YOU WANT ME TO BEAT HIM UP FOR YOU????

XY laughed at her text messages. He only started to text her and he already felt better.

XY: no, it's fine

XY: i actually yelled at him

Marinette: ...

Marinette: do you feel better?

XY: actually, yep.

XY: he's a really sucky father

Marinette: for some reason, a lot of the blondes i know have a toxic parent

Marinette: it's kinda sad

XY: maybe it's a paris thing

They texted back and forth, XY laughing at the memes Marinette sent.

XY: You're definitely a daughter of Athena

Marinette: ( ⚆ _ ⚆ )

Marinette: is that a percy jackson reference i see

XY: yep

XY: have u read the books?

Marinette: duh

Marinette: you haven't lived til you've read the books

Marinette: sadly, the movies sucked tho

XY switched his apps and searched up Marinette's personal instagram. He clicked on the first result that came up.

The profile picture was Marinette in a blue, silky dress that went just above her ankle. There was a slit on her left leg that showed her knee. It was nighttime and Marinette was practically glowing under the city lights. She was staring at something on her right side, with one hand running through her silky black hair which was down for once.

She looked hot.

After XY stopped admiring her profile picture, he finally noticed her follower count.

She had 200,000 followers. 200,000.

It wasn't as high as XY's follower count, that was still quite a lot.

Marinette thought that she read his text wrong. There's no way that Marinette had that many followers. 200,000? There was no way.

Marinette: ur lying

XY: I'm not.

It's been a while since Marinette has logged onto her personal account. The hate she got the last time she's been signed in was too much for her and when Alya told her to log out and just focus on her other account, @MDCdesigns, she couldn't bring herself to argue against her.

Marinette hasn't even thought of that account since that day. So when she logged in and saw that XY wasn't lying, she accidentally dropped her phone in shock.

Tikki looked at Marinette with a questioning look.  

Marinette ignored her kwami and texted the blue-eyes boy back.

Marinette: HOLY SHIT

Marinette: I HAVE 200k FOLLOWERS

Marinette: HOW TF DID THAT HAPPEN

XY: when was the last time you checked ur acc

Marinette: about 3 months ago

Marinette: the media thought i was adrien's gf and his fangirls came at me

Marinette: i got a ton of hate and a friend of mine told me to log out and just focus on my @MDCdesigns acc

Marinette: so i did

Marinette: i haven't thought abt that acc since then

XY: the fangirls were probably just jealous

XY: it's been months so they probably calmed down

XY: I'm looking through the comments rn and so far the latest hate comment you've got was about 2 weeks ago

Hi tumblr, been a while!

I rarely post here now compared to how much I used to and I'm sorry about that.

So I've decided to make a post to let you guys know, who are still following, what I'm up to right now!

Work update:

For the last year I have been working full time as a freelance animator working on a new League of Legends game! Pretty cool right? I haven't been able to share any of the work I've been doing due to NDAs but as soon as I have the go ahead to share things I will! I'd love to show you all the cool stuff I've been doing!

However after today I will be done with that contract and back to being self employed again. So for anyone who may have been wanting to request a commission during my long break from them, you should have a chance to soon! I will be taking a short week break from any work though before I do to take some time off but I'll update here when they're open. And to those I've already been in contact with about commissions, I'll reply via email with an update!

Also because I was working full time this year I haven't had much time off to work on any personal art, fanart and projects so that's why posting on my socials have been super spotty! So I'm hoping to start posting more again soon.

Health update:

To those that don't know I'll give a short TLDR; basically I have had chronic knee pain since I was 13, so 10/11 years ago, and in 2020 it got drastically worse to the point where it effects my daily life and I am in constant 24 hour pain. I'm have been in the long process of having my knee examined and have seen many different specialists with no real answer. But I may finally have an answer now that makes sense and am on a waiting list for an MRI to verify it! It's taken a very long time to get to this point but having a solid answer as to why I have daily chronic pain, and then possible avenues to start getting better is a huge relief.

Once the diagnosis has been verified I will update you all on what the result is and what further treatment I may need, including possibly surgery.

But for now, thank you to those that have sent me words of encouragement on this over the years, it really means a lot!

Other health issues I have, including my fatigue issue, have been put on the backburner this year due to my knee being more serious of a concern, but tbh it has been a lot better! And it may actually be directly linked to stress from my chronic pain. But we'll see when it comes to getting treatment, how much that'll improve.

General life update:

On a more happier note, for those that don't follow my twitter where I update most often, I actually moved out this year in May and have been living in my first apartment!

It has been such a huge change that was much needed and I truly have been thriving here. And I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for everyone who has supported my creative endeavours over the years so honestly, thank you guys so much <3

Also I have been on a bit of a witchy/spiritual journey this year too and have thrown myself into tarot! Which has very eye opening for me and a really cool experience. And I may have some fun creative projects in mind...such as making my own tarot deck...so stay tuned for that if that's up your alley

feels a little early to be writing a year-in review but i find myself in a quiet moment so i thought i’d tap a few things out

in 2019, in all facets of my life, i faced a challenge of some sort and i surprised myself as i held my ground more often than ran away, which felt new. what *also* felt new was this sense of ease i began having professionally, when it came to conceptualizing and making decisions. sorta feels like a lot of things are crystallizing.

in terms of life on here, i didn’t have TSL for the majority of the year (anybody out there remember TSL?!) so i busied myself with crafting fun memories on my own. there were spans of weeks where i’d just get on a tear and run into one new thing after the other and it was all really just fantastic. i gave myself permission to indulge in the most decadent of things and to follow the most mercurial of assumptions to places i thought closed off.

i’m pretty sure i’ve smiled and laughed more over this year than i ever have in my entire life. no joke.

here are some kaylorverse moments that brought me joy in 2019:

it’s nice to have a friend

2018 was my first year being a kaylor and i just sort of was moreover on the contributor or commenter side of things so 2019 was interesting in that when taylor really leaned into the gay imagery leading up to album release, i started getting newer people sending me stuff! and asking me my takes on things! and like, my words suddenly had weight for some reason? it felt weird but i truly enjoyed getting to talk with so many different people and hear their ideas and laugh and such. that was markedly different from last year. from within this, 79-swift reached out to me with the eye theory, the most beautiful and rare of observations by a singularly lovely individual that i have dedicated my life to protecting and promoting. and i feel like i’ve gotten to know many people i knew through 2018 more deeply and have come to accept the role i play, lean in to it, and formulate my own truth of the matter, and that sort of heightened perspective on it has been a blessing and i’m so thankful for this strange sense of camaraderie that has formed with many of you? thank you??? and my conviction, and my wishes, for the girls to find happiness have only strengthened this year... im committed to seeing this through whether people like it or not!! harumph!

i also started proactively curating my experience.. that’s right! i began blocking trolls with reckless abandon, and i turned anons off! 😂 and damn it’s so much more worthwhile of a time on here when you set aside people that only want to ruin your day.

i got over my fear of eyeballs!!

😂 no seriously, body horror and in particular eyes out of context was actually sort of a thing that previously creeped me out BUT LOOK AT ME NOW. i’m gonna do my best not to rehash the eye theory, please read the post and recall the number of times i filipped out 😂 each and every one is precious to me

i fell in love with so many songs and like, running into eye motifs in so many of the songs, lyrically and visually, was the most hilarious thing. but really just a lot of the songs really tapped at my soul with an ice pick and i even went to go see The Japanese House live in Osaka which was transcendental and i’m just so thankful for having taylor introduce Good At Falling to me because it was a *necessary* album.

i made and collected stuff

i made and amassed many artifacts that one day i can look back on and remember what a wild ride it has been. some favorites are my procuring of the pixel art heart ring from the ME! mv (a nod to my tsl days..), as well as the evil eye ring.. i didn’t physically make this but the eye theory made the taydar podcast and there’s nothing i enjoy more in this world than making someone giggle and i just love that the episode exists. making that kaylor straw was 👌 working on a mock-up of the golden locket has been very satisfying. i started incorporating fun kaylor winks into my artwork as well which was fun, and i also commissioned a collage from the very talented and lovely valheria and i couldn’t have asked for anything better 🥰

wildin in the TS7 tag was the best.

i made this observation that there’s this type of cocoon that looks like a cobra, which transforms into a butterfly over a period of 13 days, and like, the post got so many notes and i just had a lot of swiftie eyeballs all of a sudden on my blog which led to some hilarity. but honestly i just love geeking out over theories and it’s fun to get to do that as fans of taylor at large. things felt warm and effervescent.

i subscribe to the TTB Times and let me just say the submissions and anons this year were overwhelmingly a delight to read through every day. also like, we did get cued in to stuff before album release and i am just thankful that there are people out there both who want to give us that and people who work to help them give us that. thank you ttb for moderating your blog (my newspaper of choice) however it is that you do and to everyone that contributed to her blog.

so glorious... but particular the hour before. i was rushing to pick up my kid from school and suddenly i kept getting messages from people that taylor was covering her face and framing her eyes, and i was like oh please yeah sure BUT THEN when the snake in the video had a blank eye like i don’t think you guys understand i had to wait at a bus stop and exchange pleasantries with the other moms but it was a *five alarm fire* in my mind

stealing away to listen to YNTCD for the first time and hearing Taylor Alison Swift use the word gay in a released song for the first time was a transcendental moment

call me a corporate shill all you want like, there’s always a little something in there and i also enjoy the little flickers of goofy karlie that jump out from time to time. and i know this is not the case for everyone but post eyepocalypse, karlie leaning in, winking that eye of hers time and time again was just pique comedy for me and it always made me chuckle. the brands karlie has repped have been really laying it on thick too and it’s been a joy to see. when taylor does it with her music it’s art, and for me karlie’s media presence is a form of art too 😌

kimby liked a comment of mine on her insta which was a distinct honor and privilege 😌 and really she was dropping clues left and right through spring up until she got her snazzy new job and things calmed down 🥰 of which i am so proud talk about an on brand job! also partially clearing the air about my TSL theory and the lead up to clearing that air was quite fulfilling for me and i am forever grateful for the time we shared. and to this point, the seesters in general (and kurt omg) have been quite active all year and we don’t deserve it but they’ve stuck around and it’s been calming.

when taylor came to visit tokyo this year i was basically reenacting the swamp scene from OOTW trying to get a ticket to the secret event... i listened to ME! on LINE MUSIC for over 2000 plays, i bought multiple CD’s, it was such an ordeal and then to not have a ticket after all but still putting on my thinking cap and managing to figure out where the event was while i was at disney sea and literally running from disney sea to the venue in high heels with The Man playing on my phone was oscar-worthy and actually *being correct* and the moment i knew i was correct and how i knew i was correct was so amazing 😉 and i play by the rules so i didn’t try to get in without a ticket and i didn’t lurk. but just to have figured it out and validated it was such a thrill. seeing her on TV live was amazing as well ///

oh and, last year for rep tour there was this theory i had which didn’t pan out but it had to do with the clues i thought shawn mendes was dropping through autumn 2018 and anyway that’s a story for another day but as i was bopping around town, looking for lockets, staying in rooms i have no business being in, drinking lots of whisky...just to know that while i was doing *everything but* successfully meeting taylor, she literally phoned shawn and had him record lines for that eye theory remix like, i will never ever, like, guys. guys. 😂 it’s too perfect for words. the world is weird like that sometimes.

Lover

and omg Lover the album? i absolutely love lover and i loves that honeymoon period of theorizing and parallel unearthing that we did and i love how slightly creepy-cute it is and i love the whole wabi-sabi thing going on and i absolutely love every song on the album, every one, they all have so much meaning to me... and each one is teeming with little blips and bloops and sound samples and seconds of silence and i love all the brass instruments and so many lush moments... i guess my shortlist (in no particular order) would be the archer, lover, i think he knows, daylight, cruel summer, false god, cornelia street, ME! (yea i really like me 🥰). and to think about everything that went in to the album and the thrill of what it might have been and the vastness of what we don’t know, but like, the weight of that potential?? it’s like this vast pastel and black abyss of drowsy and deep feelings and i love every inch of it. it’s a vibe that reflects so much of what this year has been for me and i’m happy to have existed in this time to have had it with me.

Quick intros for my OCs as I’m going to write about them and there’s nothing you can do about it.

Rosalia Scarlett Dawn AKA Rose- 

My main girl, healing powers, the MCU version of her was recruited by SHIELD right after she got her first PHD after she was caught studying alien biology, takes her a while to become an actual superhero as her healing powers were hard to convert into anything that she could put on the field, with help from her anti-hero/ villain nemesis who she has had sexual tension with ever since they shared a dorm in medical school but then she became unethical and ignorant of the people around her ergo turning into a bad guy. Rose is usually good and wholesome but she has a dark destructive side that was awoken after her nemesis used her powers on her. Rose is selfless to the point of not taking care of herself because any time spent not helping people with her powers is time wasted in her eyes and she tends to take medical cases that no one else can, usually pertaining to other powered people, aliens, magic illnesses, etc.

Andromeda Starling- 

Roses endgame girlfriend, shapeshifter, in the MCU she accidentally used a Hydra spaceship to escape the planet as her parents were both scientists involved with that kind of thing. She didn’t really think it through and she ended up on a skrull refugee planet where she crash landed and had to be enhanced to save her life. She’s not good at teamwork and tends to be a loner as she’s afraid to get close to people. She hates being bossed around and work with other people. She can do most on her own just fine. She hates having to admit she needs help with something. She’s a pretty decent pilot and prefers swords over guns. If she likes someone enough to become attached, she get’s very protective and even a bit clingy but that rarely happens.

Adisa Crow AKA Doctor Plague-

Roses nemesis, she was subtly jealous of Roses powers so she secretly tried to recreate them, instead the outcome gave her powers that could reverse other’s powers against them and make normal people ill. She became a virus in every sense of the word and even tech malfunctions around her. But her powers affect herself a little, making her go a little crazy over time and more willing to do fucked up things in the name of science. Yes she wears a plague doctor mask that helps her powers not affect herself. Her powers also heighten her negative feelings and only give her relief when she uses her powers on other people as it hates being restricted. She’s given up on being free of it and has embraced her role as a super-plague. It’s actually kind of sad really...

Phoenix AKA Maat (Matt) Ramses-

Necromancer goth mom, grew up an orphan with the sorcerers of Kamar Taj as her parents were wakandan sorcerers who died protecting the reality and the ancient one sensed her magic potential, however she wasn’t great at the normal magic that they tried to teach her. She had to steal forbidden books about necromancy to really get a hold of her powers. She left the sorcerers and found others like her, connected to death, and she made a family. but eventually she would have to investigate her roots in wakanda and it may not be pretty. She inherited her parents relics, a gold sword with a hilt of wings and a gold helmet based on the helms of the egyptian pharaohs. Maat didn’t quite work as a vigilante, she just was drawn to people that needed her help and she literally can’t stop herself from intervening when humanity can be so terrible. Anyway she hates cops and abusers and rapists and all that and she does her best to help the people that they hurt.

Diana Schmitt-  

Trans girl mutant who can control and melt metal and glass, making her own weapons on the fly and using debris to her advantage. Her left arm and her right leg were frozen off by anti-mutant extremists and she makes herself prosthetics with her powers made of glass shards that she can use and layers of different kinds of metal with the outside being gold because she likes the aesthetic. She’s covered in scars from the torture and from her own forging projects. She loves making things and does her best to be positive and kind to other people but trauma is still trauma and superheroes aren’t known for going to therapy. She has PTSD and gets triggered by excessive cold and dark places. She has to learn to confront her pain and move beyond it, while also going to therapy and stuff.

Guinevere Kaimana-

literally a mermaid who spent several decades under the water as a hermit and has water powers and electric eel levels of electric powers. (until she’s at her most powerful but still not more than like some thunder in a tropical storm, she can’t like summon lighting to strike people or anything.) In the MCU she’s a mutant who left after her mutation out of fear of rejection and in my fantasy version of my OC universe she’s a pirate mermaid princess. She figured out how to temporarily turn her tail into a tail shaped skirt and tattoos on her legs similar to fishnet tights. She can’t stay human for very long and when she’s human she has to be fully hydrated or she could die. She has an enemies to competitors to friends to lovers with Diana and it’s a very slow burn. 

Gwen Pride Portrait - mermay

Alexandria Iriklitis- 

Superhero therapist with a magic voice. Her singing can manipulate the emotions of anyone that can hear it, even through recordings and microphones and stuff, and eventually she can use it to control objects around her through levitation and even destroying the area around her if she’s emotionally charged and loud enough (which happens when she goes temporarily deaf and thinks that she can’t responsibly use her powers anymore.) She has to be very careful with her powers as music is already made to affect peoples emotions but with her powers, any miscalculation can be destructive. Someone may have bad memories of a happy song and elevate those bad feelings. So she usually depends on non-lyrical songs and her own improvisation skills. In my fantasy OC universe she’s a magic bard that’s drawn to chaos and flirts with everyone because she’s a bard. She tries not to use her magic voice to make people do things they don’t want to do, she tries to not rely on it to get whatever she wants.

Artemis Dawn-

Roses non-powered sister who is a SHEILD agent that struggles with living in her sisters shadow. They go through an arc of repairing their relationship and get to the point of being very close and killing for each other. Artemis specializes in sharpshooting, martial arts, and disguises. She uses makeup and clothing and wigs to completely change her appearance to a point where even the people that know her best won’t recognize her. In the fantasy AU universe she dresses up as a man to become a knight after being shamed out of her princess status. She’s a badass and deals with a major inferiority complex and has to prove that she’s just as good as her superpowered sister. When hydra takes over shield, she has to save her sister from their clutches and causes Roses first power burst that kills the hydra agents by forcing their bones to grow together to turn them into grotesque body horror statues. Fun. Artemis has a cold hard exterior but softens up around her sister and it confuses her colleagues to no end. Not many people knew she could smile outside of a role.

This is Zelda , a bit more of a happy-go-lucky muse compared to Sam !! She’s both her own character mixed with a few others I have - I love her dearly , so please please please feel free to come at me for plots !! <3 HERE WE GO :

HISTORY

Zelda’s backstory isn’t anything special - growing up in Scotland her parents had a nice marriage , she grew up an only child , always got good grades

But she always felt... average. She never was really anyone to anybody , so Zelda had a bit of a knack for wanting attention and trying to get her voice out there. So some took this as endearing , some took it as annoying.

In high school , she was lucky enough to be selected for an exchange student program in Salem , Massachusetts - and then she’d meet the FIRST person who would make her feel special in SAGA ( Sexuality And Gender Acceptance ) Club , a cheeky blonde boy named Cyrus who had a tendency to hide in the corner of the room and not talk to many people. And they’d date for about a year , up until Zelda would have to go back to Scotland.

They had to break up when Zelda would leave , but remained extremely close and communicating daily through digital connections.

ANYWAY , that little one year romance sort of gave her more confidence to use her voice and try and light up the room - since if she could do it for one person , she could do it for multiple people. That’s what gave her the idea to pursue a career in DIGITAL MEDIA -  namely , film & video ( with digital art and photography on the side ) in the more comedic aspect. Screenplaying and the technicals behind sketch-comedy skits. Stand-up comedy , even though that was more performing.

Think like Saturday Night Live - and then think of all the technical stuff that goes into it besides the acting. The script-writing , camera angles , etc. Zelda just wanted to make people laugh.

Soooo… when she told her parents that would be what she wanted to do , her average home-life would turn sour CONSIDERING they didn’t want her to explore such risky career choices. An easier life would be to become a lawyer or a doctor - more stable. But that’s not what she wanted. So after a LENGTHY argument with her parents , Zelda would be thrown out of the house with only the money she saved ( thankfully , she’d always been the frugal one ) , and would call . . . her ex-boyfriend and his mother. Since even though they’d only been communicating digitally over the past two years , it still felt like home in Massachusetts.

Her ex’s mother would pay for a flight for her to go back to the United States , and after some time of adjusting , she’d get into Hollingsworth to pursue her career in Digital Media - staying there , but often traveling home ( being where her ex and his mom lived ) routinely.

Pledging to Gamma , her insistence for encouraging people to live their life to the fullest and readiness to include people in her free spirited antics would leave a great impression on the sorority - eventually even leading to her current position as its president.

CHARACTER / FACTS

So again !! Zelda is my trans female pansexual bby , 5’11 bc tall girls make the world go round and she is the LIVING EXAMPLE of the Halcyon label. She’s loud , carefree , optimistic - never really known to pass up an opportunity to have fun.

...that’s so basic of an intro to her personality BUT IN MY DEFENSE IT’S EARLY

BUT YEAH Zelda ?? Does not give a shit about anything. She holds no grudges towards anyone , waaaay too chill - but she flips from extremely chill and laid back to “HEY HEY LET’S GO DO THESE TEN THINGS” and it’s. Definitely a 360. But nobody’s ever seen her angry and it sort of makes people wonder if she even feels anger or if she has a secret dark side nobody knows about.

...She doesn’t. Zelda’s only habits when angry are that she’s short , to the point , and WILL call you out if you’ve done something wrong. But making her mad is extremely hard and she’ll only remotely get upset if you prove time and time after again to be a shitty person.

Which , can sort of lead her to get taken advantage of because of her chill nature - that’s how the previous issue with Gamma getting in trouble at one of their parties happened. Zelda got pissed. She knows she’s chill but she doesn’t think about how that could lead SOME people to thinking “oh I can do anything I want and she’ll be fine with it” because she doesn’t. Get angry about much.

ALSO THAT DOES MAKE HER A BIT NAIVE - just again. She’s easy to take advantage of because she believes the best in everyone and automatically assumes people will do the right thing as people. Doesn’t really understand why people will do things to hurt others and doesn’t really want to.

Also kind of jumpy like she’s a social person and definitely flips between lax and loud but it is SO easy to startle her.

AS FOR HER INTERESTS IN DIGITAL MEDIA - she is extremely talented with the entire Adobe Creative Suite , especially Premiere , Photoshop , and After Effects.

She has an Instagram dedicated to posting manips , edits , etc. she made in both PS & AE. You know those funky Insta edits you see all the time ?? Zelda makes those.

She ALSO does a lot of editing and promotion for Gamma - a lot of times they’re memey little videos or advertisements or skits that display how welcoming Gamma is , and they do a great job at leaving a good impression on possible recruits.

Her BIG thing though would be a little YouTube channel she runs where she often posts videos just around campus - think Billy On The Street , which is what she really wants to do with her digital media career.

Comedy film is her passion.

Commentary videos are ALSO something she’s considered , much like iNabber or Strange AEons , but she thinks mockumentaries , skits , and her other work

Also that person who Photoshops heads on people’s bodies and makes memes for all the group chats she’s in

She really doesn’t take herself seriously often but frankly that’s just Gamma as a whole so it WORKS.

A good portion of Zelda’s existence is a meme tbh I honestly adore her

She has a LOT of tattoos that were designed by her ex-boyfriend since he was an art major and now is a tattoo artist in Salem - I’d point you in the direction of Hannah Pixie Snowdon’s body art as a reference , just Zelda isn’t nearly as covered as she is.

This would be the best reference I can think of rn , lots of pretty designs and some animals, maybe some symbols and references from stuff. 

Olivia doesn’t have any tattoos but WE CAN CERTAINLY PRETEND

A lot of her spare money is made doing either graphics commissions or even photography from whoever needs her services !! The majority of her stuff has been done for cosplayers , budding models , budding actors and actresses , and even for other fraternities and sororities around campus. Zelda knows no rivalries when it comes to these things.

She’s also 100% that person who keeps around a polaroid camera so she can hang up pictures she takes she’s just That Person

6. What were they like at school? Did they enjoy it? Did they finish? What level of higher education did they reach? What subjects did they enjoy? Which did they hate?

3 - 3s friend group wasnt exactly the best and she was fairly withdrawn, but still too much of a pushover to actually find new friends. she stuck around 4 a lot (who wasnt really in that group) to the annoyance of some of 4s friends. thats mainly why 3 and dana hate each other, even if its sort of petty. 3s also a college dropout, she couldnt keep up with it while juggling nss stuff. her fav subjects were art and math, surprisingly, and she hated language arts and pretty much all sciences.

4 - she wasnt exactly well-liked by any means, but she had a nice friend group at the very least. shes much happier to be out of school since she quite frankly thought it sucked. she didnt do any further schooling after high school. if theater counts as a subject, that would be her absolute favourite. if not, then language arts and even then, only the units that cover shakespeare. least fav is probably gym, but that was more because of dysphoria than anything else

8 - 8 didnt really receive proper schooling, buuuuuuuuuut to go along w the question, if she went to school like the ones surface-dwellers attend, she would enjoy it. shes curious about the world and all and a place to receive free knowledge just seems really cool to her. fav subject is history, with no real least fav.

dana - shes a theater kid what else is new. she liked it but she likes not being in school a whole lot more. shes currently juggling online college classes with prof turfing. fav subject is theater again, but if not then art. least fav is math bc its boring

lucas - (lets just go with 8 rules for this again) hes 17, so he would still be in school if he attended. hes a bit standoffish and would prob be more of a loner, that or the guy who befriends all the goths/stoners (though he wouldnt smoke). hed be indifferent to most subjects, though i dont see him liking gym much. not for the same reasons as 4 (although he is trans, but there wasnt any opportunity in his introduction for me to just... say it) i think hed just think it was a waste of time if anything.

15. Are they good at cooking? Do they enjoy it? What do others think of their cooking?

3 - compared to my other agents, she is a god. compared to normal people, her food is crummy but tolerably so. not good, not terrible... just incredibly bland.

4 - 4 likes cooking. cooking does not like 4. her food is edible and technically prepared correctly, but something about it is just... off. in a bad way. 4 doesnt like her own cooking and neither does anyone else

8 - 8 thinks food is cool but also has the attention span of a flea when it comes to these things. shes still trying to learn, and shes made some progress, but theres still a 75% chance that her food comes out burnt. (and, if youre wondering, pearl is so very proud)

dana - she has the ability to cook, kind of, but she prefers take-out. its faster and the chance of it burning your house down is smaller, after all. her food isnt bland like 3s, she just oversalts it. a lot. youre better off just chugging saltwater at this rate

lucas - he likes cooking, its soothing. out of everyone here, hes the best at it. its sort of a hobby of his. he doesnt eat a whole lot though. the apartment complex he lives at is pretty run-down and nowhere near the best part of town, but its cheap and its fairly populated with octolings, so he tends to share with them. (and his roommate as well) they appreciate him a lot.

16. Do they collect anything? What do they do with it? Where do they keep it? 

3 - she doesnt really collect anything. i mean, she has a lot of fancy pens, but its not like she went out and got them all to add to a collection.

4 - commissioned art of her fursona uhhh idk? i mean, she has a lot of clothes, but thats not really a collection.. actually, can you collect succulents? she has a whole shelf of succulents that she can miraculously keep alive somehow. theyre all named.

8 - she basically hoards pins. like the ones you can get on etsy or at hot topic, those. theyre quirky and fun!! currently she has them all shoved in a box beneath her bed. 

dana - keychains and stuff you can hang off them. its pretty much a weapon at this rate. watch out lest you invoke the wrath of the fresh fish keychain.

lucas - he doesnt really have a lot. mainly because of money and a generally ascetic lifestyle

17. Do they like to take photos? What do they like to take photos of? Selfies? What do they do with their photos?

3 - she doesnt like taking photos, shell only do it if its stuff on paper or a sign or something that she needs to remember

4 - she takes a lot of selfies with friends and posts them to whatever the squid equivalent of insta is. once she posts them, she deletes them

8 - she takes sooo many pictures of like... everything. the surface is just really colorful and so full of stuff. shes scared shes going to forget it all again. 8 saves them all to a flashdrive since her phone runs out of space faster than shed like.

dana - shes the one annoying friend that takes pics of food all the time. she posts them to squid insta but doesnt delete them

lucas - he doesnt take photos. hes the type to just write down details of stuff he needs to remember so his camera doesnt see any use

The holidays are upon us, which means New Years is steadily waiting around the corner to ambush us & steal our lunch money  ᕕ(ᐛ)ᕗ With 2019 readying its bat, I've got a lot of plans upcoming, and want to share them with everyone!

These updates are pretty important, so I recommend reading them (or at the very least skimming LOL)

Patreon: $100 goal reached (Again!)

So thanks to Patrons, I've reached back up to my $100/month goal, Which, fortunately for all of you guys, means I will be back on streaming every friday night! This weekly stream will begin starting in the new year, due to the holidays (I wouldnt be able to start before then even if I wanted to) Weekly freebie streams will begin on January 4th (unless something comes up), so stay tuned!!!

And a reminder; if I make it to $250 (the next goal), Patrons can start sending me their requests for freebie stream without having to be present for the stream itself!

Holiday Freebie Stream When?

I know I normally do a christmas/holiday stream just like for Halloween, but I dont have any info on when I will start said stream! The reason being is because Im still waiting to hear from my job what days we may (or may not) have off the week of Christmas and the week of New Year

My idea is to (hopefully) have the stream on the 22nd of December, so it can be all day and not exactly during the holidays (so people have a chance to make it to the stream)

This isnt official yet, but I will let you all know as soon as I can!!

Commissions: Refunds & Break!

(Please read this if I owe you a commission!!)

This is a pretty big change for me, but lately i've been absolutely swamped with work, both in and outside of artwork. Commissions, Patreon Rewards, Trades, and other things have been stacking up and I think its time to take a break.

From now through the rest of the month & thru  January, I will finish what little I can on my list, start refunding people their money, and closing Commissions for the time being. Larger commissions will be refunded while smaller, easier commissions will either be finished or refunded as well!

Once those are taken care of in one manner or the other, I will be closing commissions temporarily. I want to start the new year focusing on Patreon stuff & more personal projects. I doubt commissions will be closed permanently, and I may just take a commission every so often during said break, but for the most part they will be closed/on hold!

Of course I will let you guys know when commissions are open, but until then \o/ expect more personal stuff (hopefully!)

I asked a little while ago on Patreon if I should make a server, and a lot of people said yes, so its gonna be a thing! Honestly I've got a lot planned for 2019 and I really hope to actually flesh them out this time around.

One main thing I want to work on are keychains and charms! Nox and I got materials, a new printer, and even a laminator to make keychains, charms, and other things too! Its something I've wanted to do for a while now, and I think the new year is a good time to finally start!

I'd also like to (possibly) make more cork board designs, since those were a lot of fun to do ~ But thats only a possibility of a project; nothing set in stone.

Another thing I really wanna dive into are my own personal characters & stories. Now i doubt I will have any sort of story/series out, but just to be able to draw my own characters in my spare time would be nice. And who knows, I may have some ideas to flesh out in the near future!

There are some other projects I have in mind but nothing that I can really reveal at this time But stay tuned regardless!!

Things I’ve been thinking about as a creator/artist

The things people usually do to gain followers and the follower gain in general and how I want to approach things.

In the car the other day I had to explain to my mom what some bigger creators do when they start losing followers and are focused on the numbers alone. I had to explain that people will use sympathy and start sharing things from their daily life out of seemingly nowhere to try and bait people in. They want people to be curious about what happens next so they’ll follow them. And that there are people that once they start to see those numbers rise they make trying to keep those numbers up and growing their life. I’ve seen this happen plenty of times on multiple platforms, especially places like YouTube or any platform that has a video sharing feature. When the numbers start going down when they start following more trends they’ll swap over to the sympathy card. You’ll see more of a switch to posts about their daily lives and things that are making them upset, but with the occasional post that resembles what they used to post sprinkled in every now and then. 

But the thought that people will become so obsessed with the numbers that they’ll keep track of every single person that follows or subs to them and they’ll stoop to things like what I commented on above, it’s scary. And this isn’t my first rodeo. I know what I should be doing to get in more followers and subs. But I’m not focusing on that. I don’t want that to become what I focus on. I want my audience to come naturally. I want to be as real as I can and post what I like. 

And yes, I’ve caught myself looking at the numbers from time to time and stopped myself because it started me thinking “I need to completely rebrand. I need to do this and that” and that’s what I’m trying to stay away from. Granted, I do need to rework how I promote my shops, but as far as my instagram and YouTube and things like that go, I want to be as real as I can be. I’ve gotten comments asking why I post so many behind the scenes and progress shots of things I work on like I was doing things wrong. I’ve always loved seeing how things come together. Behind the scenes stuff has always been something I’ve loved, and I wanted to make that something I focused on. I have an art site and an ArtSTation portfolio. I don’t feel like I personally need to be sharing only finished works on my art Insta. 

But, last year truly made me realize that I was starting to fall into that “I need to rebrand and approach things differently to gain more of an audience” because I got into this funk and felt like I was plateauing, especially after the art show I had the year before that. I was trying to create a series of drawing videos that went nowhere and felt forced and quickly became more of a chore to work on. I began to try and focus on the numbers, and it wasn’t fun and it wasn’t how I wanted to be approaching things. I want to be as real as I can be. I want to have fun with the projects I work on. And it wasn’t happening. 

I also realized that art was more of a side job and hobby and I really wanted to start focusing on writing. So I’ve started to approach my art differently. I’ve started experimenting more. And I’m having more fun with it. 

I don’t want to become consumed by the numbers. Yes, I’m still at least checking things every now and then to see how things are doing. But I’m not making it my focus. 

If I become a popular creator, awesome. Yeah, every now and then I’ll jump on a trend if I think it looks like fun. It may bring in a little more traffic. And that’s fine. But I’m not just doing it for the traffic, and that’s what I want to emphasize here. I’m doing it because it’s fun.

So if it ever seems like I’m becoming consumed by the numbers, unless it’s a desperate situation where rebranding is necessary for me to do, I hope someone calls me out. If I ever ask for support, I always say it’s just me throwing the links out there and hoping for whatever support I can get. And if I ever say anything about things being rough, it’ll only be in desperate times or if I need to step away from art or commissions need to be put on hold for whatever reason. In this day and age it’s very easy to get lost in the numbers. And I don’t want that to happen to me.

Happy Monday, Penny Darlings!

This has been a fabulously delightful and wonderfully over the top exhausting. It’s been fabulous and everything, but phew, I’m tired! I’m always happy to be here with you!

After receiving some amazing fan art from some amazingly talented artists, I knew that I wanted to have some easels at our wedding to display some of these artists’ renderings of Preston & myself! After my first post, I reached out to a few other illustrators that I absolutely adore and some of them graciously agreed to work with me!

Showing off some of the AMAZING artists and illustrators that created a portrait of Preston and I for our big day! Happy Monday, Penny Darlings! This has been a fabulously delightful and wonderfully over the top exhausting. It's been fabulous and everything, but phew, I'm tired!

I figured out who Daniel was because I was a fan of Ryan’s but got interested in him as a person outside of that cuz he was this quirky weird esoteric yet talented artist dude. I mean you know my general disposition towards fame culture and how I wasn’t even like, a huge fan of Ryan’s,,, So that association was how I figured out who he was, but not incentive to getting involved. Anyway as kind of as a gag I made him a piece of fan art. What that morphed into was me getting commissioned to do the promotional art for Starmaker. I was very obviously enthused with that premise, as it was an artistic opportunity, especially one involving people I admired.

It was really good in the beginning, he was professional with letting me know the work he wanted me to do and could maintain an appropriate casual relationship. We talked about cars and dogs and punk rock, and it was good! But he oft referred to me as pet names (baby, doll, honey, etc.) and I was never comfortable with that, yet didn’t know how to tell him that, as he was my boss and in a position of power over me. He also gradually kept making more and more inappropriate comments towards me- saying I reminded him of girls he’s dated, that he likes Jewish and Mexican girls (after I told him I was Jewish), that I have great legs. He replied to several of my Instagram stories saying “Hot!”. He’d called me beautiful a handful of times. He said I have great legs. He once said “I’m glad yr 18″ to me”… He once lied to me about his age, and while it could have been a typo, it could also not have been. I still have every email and text and IG message he’d ever sent me. I never knew what to say to any of that and kind of tried to dismiss it or laugh it off despite being uncomfortable because I was afraid that I was misunderstanding or if I spoke against it he’d misunderstand me or just not wanna deal with it and cut me out. He’d also occasionally straight up make fun of me- once texting me at midnight with a photo of his dog, essentially implying I would want something with his dog because I’m queer. After finding out I’m bi, he said my brain is half okay. Once he texted me implying I had a crush on Ryan and even though I denied it and said I was rolling my eyes, he insisted and go the last laugh. All of which was obviously super degrading, because I couldn’t back talk any of it. As I was dealing with the discomfort of how he’d speak to me, he also was slipping in our working relationship. He told me “We’ll get back to work next week” like 3 times, and by mid-July we were pretty much strictly casual. Whenever I tried to get him to acknowledge business, he’d just ignore my messages. That was a stark difference from having had made 10+ pieces for him and basically having had been in discussions of casting me for Starmaker. I still tried to maintain a casual relationship, because I held faith that he was genuine. I trusted him, and I wanted to, because he has so many positive merits. This part is still fuzzy to me in retrospect, trying to sort out what I know now and what I believed then. I now know Daniel’s a professional carpenter (that’s how he met Ryan) and Starmaker is super SUPER far back in production. He’s incredibly good at manipulating his image to seem way more prolific than he actually is, and I knew this to some degree going into it, but not to the extent it’s true. Eventually I once asked him if he would Facetime me some time, since he’d made mention of it a few times but never had. He replied “Yeah, call you when I’m drunk” and that was my tipping point in frustration with him. I had no idea what he wanted from me, if it was my fault, or what the hell. So I reached out to someone else involved with Starmaker- of which I know very few- for insight. I only had one of two peopleI asked if it was me, if Daniel was bad at talking to people, what it was. I gave a bit of insight into my frustrations, and he- Bill, the guy I went to- was taken aback. I spilled out some more things to him and he gave me more insight into Daniel’s character. Apparently he’s very often drunk, most days after noon, and can be a huge asshole when drunk. (Note- Bill is a saint who instantly believed me and did not ask for proof and has been so courteous helping me figure everything out).

We deliberated and eventually I wrote a long spiel to Daniel about everything I felt in regards to our communication to establish boundaries, and I had faith he’d take it well. I used I statements, I was professional, admitted some of my own confusions, was open and empathetic, etc. I didn’t bombard him with it, I asked him repeatedly once a day for about a week if he had the time to talk, and didn’t get a reply. Eventually I just sent it. He said he’d get back to me when he wasn’t busy. I said that if I can take the time to raise the concern, he can take the time to address it. He was dismissive and said sorry for the hassle and that I should talk to my family and friends about it and move on instead of go to him about it. He said he’d discuss more later and I asked when later was. He replied to me a few hours later and said “What do you want from me” and I said, y’know, communication and basically.. We had this falling out. He was saying I was hassling him, that he was too old for my shit, etc.  I never broke face and was only ever polite and professional but he was nasty. He did say he’d pay me for my art, though.

So a week later I emailed him saying i hated that it had to end on bad terms, if it was over, but we needed to talk business. I got nothing. At this point I didn’t want his money anymore and knew his true colors. So eventually I sought the professional advice of Bill (who is a professional composer) who told me if I didn’t want my art used by him, I should put it in writing to him and document it as a legal precaution. He gave me all this advice and said he’d help me fill out cease and desists if need be and all this stuff cuz hes a saint. So a week and a half later I put it in writing, and D texted me back saying “Who is this”. I said who and he said “I haven’t done anything with anything why are you harassing me” which is fucking bullshit when I went out of my way to not have contact with him when he followed me on Insta for days after he unfollowed me, and also rich coming from the guy who legally sexually harassed me. Anyhow I was having a mental breakdown through all of this and had nobody to talk to about any of it, ‘cuz you know how shitty my family is. And obviously tihs is undeniably traumatic to some degree, this harsh sense of betrayal and the element of sexual exploitation. My head is still really foggy all the time and it’s hard to think straight dealing with all of this and all the other BS that comes up in therapy. This story has a lot of details and its hard to tell since it’s still fresh and happening. Later on I find that D had been in contact with at least three 13/14 year old girls, not to the extent he was with me, but any 60 year old man talking to tweens on the internet is creepy as fuck. He went after Bill for helping me saying he was shit talking him, which isn’t true, he was helping the teenage girl he abused for 4 months. But I guess whenever Bill sees D next he’s going to have a chat with him about his casting couch inclinations. Ryan still doesn’t know, I want him to for my sake and his, but I don’t know how to raise that to Bill.
