Are we sure AlCal is not autistic?
to be completely honest the thought has crossed my mind before, especially because I notice a lot of similarities and traits between myself as an autistic person and him, but that’s a deeply personal thing for a person to come to terms with and even be open about, so to freely speculate about it or decide on it for him (or for anyone, really) is incredibly violating and disrespectful, and ultimately it’s best to keep it to his character /nm

can you write something for Johnny Martin?? Maybe something kind of angsty but with a fluffy ending??
Thank you!! Hope you’re doing well!!
The Depths of Despair
Tumblr media
Johnny Martin x reader
A/N: Hi anon! I hope you're also doing well 🤗 Thanks for the request, and I hope you like it! (This is written for the fictional depictions from the show - no disrespect to the real life veterans!) Warnings: mentions of war
For a moment, the two of you sit in silence, neither sure what to say. The past few days have been so full of fun, sunshine, enjoyment, and general disregard of the rules that the announcement this afternoon has put a damper on everyone’s mood. Well, everyone except for the lucky few with enough points to go home.
It seems unfathomable that Johnny should be getting ready to make yet another jump while you get sent back to the states. They can’t spare a fighting man for the upcoming conflict, but apparently they’re just fine shipping nurses who are willing and able to work home. Of course, there’s work to be done there, but you’d rather be doing the work required here – or, more accurately, wherever in the Pacific that Johnny may be sent.
“What if I just don’t go? You finally suggest. There are probably better solutions. However, in the depth of despair, the most obvious resolutions are often the most difficult to initially find, let alone hold onto. What you’ve come up with seems like a start, though.
Johnny’s eyes go wide. “Why wouldn’t you?”
“What?”
“Go home,” Johnny clarifies. “(Y/N), you have to go home.”
Now it’s your turn to be confused. “Johnny, I can’t do that. I can’t just – just leave you behind and go about my life while I worry about you over in the Pacific.”
“I’d rather you be safe,” he counters. “I would be worrying about you the whole time if you were still in an aid station.”
You could argue more. There’s no good in being at home if you’re worried sick; there’s no use spending so much time apart worrying if one of you is doomed; you should spend as much time together as possible while you can. Instead, you decide to save your breath and stick to the last one and enjoy whatever time you have left together.
“Come on,” you say, changing the subject by taking Johnny’s hand in yours and leading him out into the streets, toward one of the massive buildings that makes up Berchtesgaden. “I heard Tab say something about a ballroom somewhere around here. I want to dance.”
When you glance back at him, Johnny looks bemused, but not upset. Finally, he smiles. Maybe he’s just reached the same conclusion that you have and is too tired to argue. “Okay. Yeah. Let’s dance.”
. . .
He hasn’t looked this happy for days, you realize when Johnny strolls into the tent where you and a few other nurses are organizing supplies. A wide smile paints his face, and though it doesn’t seem possible, it only grows when his eyes land on you. His skin is slightly pink from sunlight, his hair tousled from sweat and running. It’s then that you realize his chest is heaving ever so slightly, like he’s just run here, or he can’t quite catch his breath, or both.
You abandon the box you’re in the middle of sorting. “Johnny?”
“It’s over,” he says.
For a split second, you think he means the relationship. You blink, stunned. Several other nurses glance over in concern, with one even dropping the pencil she was holding seconds before.
“What?”
“The war,” Johnny clarifies, still smiling, none the wiser to the heart attack he’s just given you. “The Japanese surrendered. The war is over.”
“Oh my God!” Someone cries out, sending the tent into a tumult of excitement as everyone abandons their work, hugging each other, cheering, some even crying at the news.
As for you, you practically fall into Johnny’s arms when he holds them out to you, his embrace warm. After the awkwardness of the past few days as you attempted to navigate your time together without it devolving into another disagreement, you can finally relax. Entangled in your embrace, you feel Johnny do the same.
Over the sounds of celebration, you whisper in his ear, “We’re both going home.”
“Together,” he whispers back.
No worrying about him while he’s in the Pacific. No worrying about you in an aid station. After all this time, you’re free, and heading back to the places where you began. Your heart races in your chest as you start to realize how different things will be this time, now that you’re in each other’s lives. Of course, there are details to be worked out, plans to be made, decisions to be finalized, but you can cross those bridges when you get there. Right now, all you care about is enjoying this haze of happiness and celebration as long as you can.
“Together,” you agree, smiling at the promise of what is to come.

Confessed Love
A/N: Hey guys! I’m so thankful for all the followers I’ve been receiving! Thank you again! Also sorry I didn't include much of the part where y/n gets hurt.
request: Can you please do one where ponyboy and y/n are walking and the socs kinda just like run up and beat them up, and y/n gets seriously injured ( add your twist however you want !! )
Summary: Ponyboy and y/n are just friends but when they are walking down the street and get jumped by some Soc’s, y/n manages to get hurt. Will your friendship form into something else?
Y/n and Ponyboy walked out of the movie house, a smile drawn onto their faces as their laughter echoed the dark streets of Tulsa.
“What do you mean it was good! It was so corny and predictable!” Ponyboy objected as y/n laughed at how serious he was about the movie they just watched.
“I know! I was just saying that to spite you! The way the guy obviously got the girl at the end of the adventure was really predictable.” Y/n clarifies as she continues to walk down the street with Ponyboy. As you guys are walking down the street, a group of Soc guys come rolling down in a bright blue mustang.
“Oh great..” Ponyboy muttered as you guys tried to walk a little faster to get away. That obviously didn’t help much.
“Hey Greasers! Don’t ignore people that are far superior to you!” A voice screamed out from one of the four guys that were following you two home. Y/n immediately grabbed Ponyboy’s hand, much to his surprise, and tried to make a run for it but she seemed to be a second too late as one of the guys placed their hand on your shoulder.
“Don’t ya know it’s disrespectful to ignore a guy, especially since you're a greaser. You’re pretty so maybe I’ll be nice enough to not bruise your face completely.” He chuckles as he immediately punches you in the face. Ponyboy watches in horror as he's being held back by two of the other guys that have come to bother them. Just as Ponyboy was about to scream at them to let go of her, until Ponyboy spots Sodapop and Steve chasing after those four Socs. Ponyboy immediately runs up to her in a state of panic.
“Y/n! Are you alright!” Ponyboy asked as he was holding you up by the waist, worry written all over his face.
“Yea, well, not really,” She says, softly rubbing the area in which she got punched. “This hurts so bad..” Ponyboy bites his lip as if he’s stopping himself from saying something. Soda and Steve kinda already knew what it was and they held thumbs ups to support him. (Steve did it begrudgingly)
“Uhm, y/n?” Ponyboy asks, he just wanted to go run and hide but he knew he had to do this.
“Yea Pony?” You mumbled as you were still rubbing the area where you got hit, as it was quickly fading to blue.
“I know it may not be the perfect time but this has been bothering me for a while now and I just wanted to get it out of my chest..IreallylikeyouandIfindyousoprettyandIreallycareforyou.Ireallywantyoutobemygirlfriend,it’sfineifnotandIhopewecanstillbefriends!” Ponyboy rambled as he tried to get it over with a nervous smile on his face. You look up at him in shock but then your shock turns into a soft smile.
“Oh Pony, I would never reject you. I really like you too and I would be glad to be your girlfriend.” You say, trying to reassure Ponyboy so he could calm down.  In the background he can hear Sodapop and Steve silently cheering for Ponyboy.
“Go Ponyboy! I knew you could do it!
“Yay…I guess..?”

How to know if your boyfriend is a narcissist💔
This topic is kind of a trigger for me because I was in a toxic relationship about 2 and half years ago and it still triggers me to this day because there were just too many things that I let slide even though many people made it clear that it was a toxic situation. Before I start I want to clarify, this post is NOT meant to shame you or make you feel any less worthy because you’ve experienced this situation before or are currently experiencing it. It is meant to teach you and hopefully inspire you to leave this situation in the healthiest way possible if you haven’t done so already.
About 2 and half years ago, I was with a man, who shall remain nameless, that was very toxic and narcissistic. He would disrespect whenever he wanted, he would put double standards in our relationship such as I HAD to do things because he said but he couldn’t do anything for me, he manipulated me, called me put of my name, and gaslighted the sh*t out of me whenever he was in the wrong and I confronted him about it. Finally, when I decided to leave, he said he would change and 20 other things for me to stay, but never ended up changing. This always made me feel like I was the problem or not good enough. But it wasn’t me doing the emotional damage, it was him. Now, years later, I’ve healed and gotten into a healthy relationship, I can tell you ALL the things you need to know about these type of men and how you can deal with them properly w/o anything getting out of hand.
Here are some of the signs of a narcissist BF you should look out for and how to address them:
1. If you don’t feel comfortable doing something, and this person FORCES you to do it or just does it W/O consent, he’s a narcissist.
2. Every time he does something you don’t like, you address it and he makes you feel like it’s your fault or like he did it because you did that, he’s a narcissist.
3. If he compares you to other women he’s had saying you are or are close to being like them because of X, Y or Z reason, he’s a narcissist. (Then he’ll say he didn’t mean it for you to stay.)
4. After a fight, if he tells you all the things he likes about you or how you’re this great things that’s come in his life, he’s love-bombing you, he’s not caring about how you feel or the effect of what he did might have caused to you. He’s a narcissist.
5. If he always brings up things you’ve done/said in the past and takes them out of context just so it fits HIS narrative of why you are wrong, he’s gaslighting you. He’s a narcissist.
6. If anytime or EVERY time he is wrong, he somehow always convinces you that you’re wrong in what you’re saying or makes you feel confused about your judgment, he’s manipulating you. He’s a narcissist.
7. If he tries to control who you hang out with + he always seems to have the upper hand on who you follow on Instagram or checks your Snapscore and has a say in who you can text, follow, DM or talk to, he thinks he owns you. He’s a narcissist. (Then he’ll say he’s “protecting” you to get you to stay.) *lets not even talk about if he gets to tell you what you can wear.
8. If you keep addressing the things that hurt you and he keeps doing them consciously because “he knows he’s damaged and wants to change but its not working so he wants you to wait a little more until he changes”, he’s lying. He knows you’ll believe the story so he’ll keep doing whatever he wants until you finally leave. He’s a narcissist.
Now, these are just a few of the signs he can have. He may have more or worse, but the key for you here to actually know if he’s a narcissist is feeling. If you get this feeling, and its like your sixth sense, that this guy isn’t good for you, that many people have told you so and you kind of think they may be right, if your parents also tell you he’s not good for you, even if someone you never expected to tell you he’s not good for you, tells you, then you know this guy has to leave.
How to address it:
1. Talk to him in person and tell him all the things that don’t sit right with you. Tell him you understand why he is doing them, but that you can no be with him because it is hurting you and you need to take care of yourself.
* He will tell you a bunch of things to get you stay, but at this point you’ll just have the ick and thinks its BS.
2. Then leave him to live his life because he will never change for you.
Look and you won’t accept it now. Maybe not even tomorrow, but sooner or later you will accept it and once you do, you will leave him and a huge weight will lifted from your shoulders. Thats how it feels, and once you heal, you will be free from somebody who, let’s be honest here, doesn’t care that much about you to begin with. A person that truly loves you, will never purposely hurt you. So drop the dead weight already. Once I let go of this man, I opened myself to a man who really wanted to give me the world. Respect me and give me everything I wanted, and this is what I want for you.
This week I’ll post how to get over a narcissist to make it easier for you❤️.

-im going to insult Kou
rapidfur
This whole exchange gave me BIG hell of mirrors vibes, when Kou is like "oh youve just got a gross and dirty little heart so thats why you dont want to go inside the mirror"... and its like UH YEAAA.... YEAA BUT LIKE NO ALSO.... akdjwkdj.  Especially when you get actual confirmation that his fear is his brother's dead body. I ultimately can't even take it seriously cause its so childish and, genuinely I dont think Kou means much by it... but... I dunno!
gkdfl;g it’s like ohhhhhh KOU, he words things far too capriciously and with far too much confidence, it makes Hanako go “jesus.... okay ....” not... ready for the level of irreverence. In the middle of a situation or subject as serious as what they are up against. Hanako is out here thinking about his beloved little brother’s corpse, and how the entire Hell of Mirrors will turn into an unbridled nightmare if he steps in......................... and then its like Kou is on a different planet. It’s crazy, the different wavelengths they exist on. It’s half Hanako’s fault for how he presents himself TO others and how he guards against severity/preciousness being discussed, BUT I STILL THINK KOU COULD.... BE SLIGHTLY MORE OBSERVANT AND PERCEPTIVE.... just like, from his own... brain..... please, you do walk into this knowing Hanako is a murderer, and now you know enough that it’s a complicated situation, but I swear Hanako’s demeanor of flippancy just works to make Kou (confirmed biggest patsy ever) completely forget everything ever...... if Nene was here I swear she’d be like “.... right.... Hanako-kun.... has a lot of things he might fear..... ): ”
Kou is so like... I can’t take your idiocy so seriously... and I think Hanako doesn’t either, which is WHY he never bothers defending himself or clarifying... he gets no benefit from uh, educating Kou.... he can’t get mad.... whatever, he can stay a misinformed idiot handling things with less honor than they deserve, Hanako has no need for Kou’s honor or respect. (which ig is why it’s so interesting he does snap the one time Kou tries to outright say the murder must have been ‘for a good reason’.... the extent to which you have to majorly fuck up to finally piss off Hanako, lol... he will shrug off so much.... you CAN insult HIM for being ‘afraid of Tsukasa’, but you CANNOT insult TSUKASA by saying he deserved to die... :B)
He feels like the goon in the room whos job it is to say the dumb thing, once Nene’s grown out of that role with what she’s learned. Maybe Nene gives Hanako too much space of respect and boundaries and then Kou’s the opposite with no sense of “hey... maybe thats not in your lane to comment on...”
Don’t Try To Have a Take, I Am Going To Hit You With a Rake
I'm also bothered and wondering if Kou still thinks Tsukasa is fake or not. He's not even talking like he is, so that must have been swept away by now...? But like does he even care? he carried him in his arms!!!! Oh my god, he is so simple-minded it drives me crazy... Kou IS great for his simplicity but it's annoying when AidaIro keep trying to give him moving character arcs. What was the point of him meeting baby tsukasa if hes still going to make the most uncharitable readings of tsukasa and hanakos relationship!?!? Grrr!!! I get his animosity towards Tsukasa can't be wrapped up so quickly, but the lack of any feeling at all is so discouraging. So disrespectful! How is Amane not more mad? Get some self respect, man!!! Maybe set up 1 or 2 boundaries!!!
Kou’s processing of things is often for me a real ‘just show you where he’s at periodically’ thing, admittedly I’m always pretty confounded when we check-in on him. He goes from... completely and utterly doubling down on ‘you’re DEFINITELY fake and NOT real Mitsuba’ to Mitsuba’s face in PP (ouch!) [I mean.... he pads it with ‘but I do want to help you’ but, it’s still... brutal... and he lacks any authority to say that, but boy does he say it]
Tumblr media
to... by the end of that arc, doing a ‘what’s real? idk’ (THEN WHY DID YOU DOUBLE DOWN SO HARD??? you really do just yell whatever comes to you before you critically examine it TT_TT) to Nene,
Tumblr media
^^This scene^^ has my favorite Kou, he’s the most contemplative and ‘pausing for thought’ we’ve seen... if he were like this more often I would not dislike him! This is such a placid and grounding conversation, admitting to uncertainty, conferring with Nene how difficult this is to navigate. He actually knows he’s out of his depth here. FOR ONCE...!
idk how to say this, but I think it’s... cruel, he doesn’t externalize ANY of his confusion TO Mitsuba? Mitsuba only gets him screaming confidently, declaring things, Mitsuba doesn’t even.. know, that you lay awake struggling with this? Mitsuba actually doesn’t even presume Kou is thinking/worrying about him (why would he, he won’t even think to eat lunch with him daily)
Tumblr media
... he’s so humble!! It’s killing me, you’re supposed to be the good boy, but Mitsuba has made less progress peering into Kou’s psyche than freaking Nene has with goddamn HANAKO. WOOF! I mean, it’s both their fault, because   , they are both stupid,
...but still!
Wouldn’t that be... helpful, for Mitsuba, who IS THE ONE STRUGGLING WITH HIS IDENTITY AND SELF, to know that even to an outsider, it isn’t so cut and dry, and it’s painful and intimidating to try to confront?
Tumblr media
... then  just before the Red House we get Kou interacting with Mitsuba’s mom, a dope scene wherein Kou censors himself while Nene doesn’t, but both get mommy’s approval..... Kou comes out of that mostly just wrestling with ‘death’, and cryptically, despite us (the audience) seeing the contrary (nene and mommy chatting about the ghost Mitsuba as if he was living Mitsuba), Kou ends this all with “ah... he’s really gone” (????????????????????? did you really go this whole time not even processing his death as a point of fact? You’re making Nene’s processing of Hanako being a ghost multiple volumes in look like she was a rocket scientist .......  ig Teru has done a great job keeping him ignorant and unthinking about all these things?)
....... its like every time we check-in with Kou, he’s definitely thought harder to himself and gotten himself in a tizzy and all.... he’ll be at different stages of struggling....... but like. For me, seeing him get ‘this far’ with Mitsuba was like “nice nice ... ok ... come on Kou ....” and then him leaping to ‘this is a fake Tsukasa’ was like,
WHY ARE YOU STARTING AT 0?????????????????? OMG please apply your experiences with Mitsuba, TO Tsukasa.... PLEASE RELATE TO HANAKO’S LOSS NOW THAT YOU UNDERSTAND LOSS?????? You-- JUST AREN’T??? OMG Kou what is the POINT then of you processing Loss and Identity,,, if you’ll use none of that to analyze the Yugi before you. IMAGINE if Hanako was like “lol you don’t interact with Mitsuba because you are afraid of him” it would be like ................................................ SORTOF????? it’s intimidating to interact with confusing things!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s also sad!! It’s HARDDDD!!!! KOU!!!! What IS your relationship with ‘new Mitsuba’? How do you decontextualize your modern relationship from the legacy of your past?  Is it right to, is it wrong to? How do you act different, how do you act the same? What ‘future’ do you have with this person? YOU ALREADY KNOW HOW PAINFUL THIS IS, KOU.
the authenticity removal due to alteration does not GET to apply to ONLY Tsukasa and be more vague for Mitsuba, for Kou’s convenience!! Questions of Kaii legitimacy and the source of identity are, going to be universal, you can’t pick and choose when to authenticate someone as ‘real’ and when to not based on IF YOU PERSONALLY LIKE THEM OR NOT. *hits him with a rake*
...anyway yeah, like ... seeing Red House not change his disrespectful tone about Tsukasa, is par the course for like.... omg.... you don’t seem to retain much information or apply it to Tsukasa.... I’m excited anyway bc I feel Kou has such a big storm coming when ultimately the narratives of Mitsuba and Tsukasa have overlap (where he can’t reject one and accept the other without collateral).... I feel like his purpose right now is to ... be the guy who needs to learn something ....

INFJ. Processing past Fe failures. Want to get better at socializing / having deeper relationships/friendships. Muddling through Ti development - desiring to get better at self-awareness + communication. A lot in my brain and it'd be a lot to share the entirety of recent exchanges that have ended up in failed relationships, so I'll try asking this and hope it's enough to get critical thinking help from you, thank you much in advance. (1/2)
[con't: I notice a pattern of me trying to communicate and express myself to be understand by, or be emotionally met by Fi users, and them responding by saying things like "I don't know what you want from me", "I don't know how to help you," "I'm sorry you feel that way" or them even saying variations of "Maybe you're not used to my communication style" (ENTJ) if I express that I feel dismissed, uncomfortable, or disrespected.
This isn't ALL Fi users thank God & I'm in therapy now to address my downplaying of my emotional needs, being willing to work through anything even though the romantic relationships I'm attracting are woefully incompatible or unhealthy. But I want to get better at doing my part to increase the chance of relationships building. What am I doing/expecting/judging in my communication with Fi users so they respond that way or has me feeling being unseen/misunderstood? Is it the basic INFJ recs?]
You point to Fi specifically. Fi doesn't require outside validation, so perhaps what you're encountering is their lack of concept of outside validation, in the manner that you're seeking it with Fe.
All of those example statements sound like they could be taken sincerely. "I don't know what you want from me" could be an opportunity for you to better explain what you need/want. "I don't know how to help you" could be an opportunity for you to provide better instructions. "I'm sorry you feel that way" could be a helpless admission that the two of you don't see things the same way. "Maybe you're not used to my communication style" could be an indication that there is a need to investigate the big gap between what was perceived and what was actually intended.
Not everyone is going to see eye-to-eye with you, not everyone is going to agree with your version of events, not everyone is going to care about your needs and feelings enough to address them kindly and patiently. This should all be okay with you unless you were walking around expecting everyone out there to have the capacity to meet you emotionally or validate your emotions (unhealthy Fe)? That's simply not gonna happen, so it's an unreasonable expectation. That's why it's so important that YOU be the first to take care of yourself and own your emotions, set proper personal boundaries, and navigate interpersonal boundaries more gracefully.
If you feel someone has violated your boundary (i.e. you feel hurt by them), the answer isn't to violate theirs in return. You're trying to fix a problem in the relationship, so further damaging the relationship isn't going to help. Whether you are right to feel hurt is not the main issue. Feelings themselves are always true and tell you something true about you. However, what you DO about the feelings isn't always right. There are two main ways people deal with negative feelings: 1) bottle them up, which amounts to self-harm, or 2) express them, which opens up the possibility of doing harm to others, if they don't have the means to process your feelings. Neither way is ideal.
If your main approach is to expect people to change (when they can't or don't want to), expect them to give you more than they are capable of giving (due to not having the means or resources), expect them to understand something that they are not really capable of understanding (when they just don't think in the same way as you), etc, your expectations are easily perceived as "demands". You're essentially pressuring people to be what you want them to be, which amounts to dishonoring them and violating their boundary. This approach is usually met with submission or resistance. If they submit to you (because they care for you), they will be unhappy for having allowed you to violate their boundary, and the problem will recur because it was only swept under the rug. If they resist you, conflict ensues, and the relationship bond will be tested and possibly threatened, especially if the conflict recurs without resolution.
There is a way to honor your feelings while also honoring others' feelings. It requires you to have good emotional intelligence and be a good communicator. Good emotional intelligence means respecting your feelings and taking full responsibility for them. Instead of seeing yourself as the victim (i.e. "you made me feel this way"), you see yourself as an agent with the power to decide what is best (i.e. "I feel this way and this is what I should do about it"). Positioning yourself as a passive or helpless victim means that you cast blame and eventually demand reparations. Positioning yourself as an active and influential agent means that you survey the situation objectively and then try to act in the best interests of everyone involved. This is what healthy and confident Fe should look like.
For example, when you feel dismissed, maybe you bottle it up for awhile, until you can't take it anymore (because the problem remains unaddressed). Then you confront people and say, "I feel dismissed". This implies that the other person has done something bad to you. You are the victim, which puts them on the spot, feeling like the bad guy, and then they can't hear you, due to becoming too preoccupied with not wanting to be the bad guy. Communication is likely to stall there, unless they have the wherewithal (emotional intelligence) to keep their focus on you and your concerns.
Instead, you could say to yourself, "I feel dismissed". You take full responsibility for your feelings and validate them for yourself. When you are good at validating your own feelings and emotions (something you admit you really struggle with), you'll eventually find that you won't need to rely on others to do it for you.
What does it mean to feel dismissed? It means that you believe you're not being taken seriously, or something to that effect. Not very difficult to understand. What to do about it? The feeling of disharmony is a message to you that you have to do more to advocate for yourself and make space for yourself within the relationship/group (it is good Fe advice). There are many ways to advocate for yourself without stepping on others. If you choose the right way, in terms of honoring everyone involved, the feeling of being dismissed will dissipate naturally. If you choose the wrong way, in terms of honoring yourself but dishonoring others, you'll encounter the problem again, because you haven't addressed the underlying problem of you positioning yourself as the victim in every relationship conflict. Chronic victim mentality is often an indication that you depend too much on outside validation of your self-worth.
Unless you are stuck in a very toxic social environment, the majority of people are not malicious for no reason. Before accusing or blaming, are you absolutely certain that they INTENDED to dismiss you? If not, wouldn't it be wise to gather more info? For instance, you could ask something like, "Have you had the time to give my idea serious consideration?" No blaming, no battling, no victim-victimizer dynamic. Do you understand how communicating without blame, through genuine inquiry, avoids trapping the both of you in a vicious cycle of seeking emotional reparations? You give people the benefit of the doubt. You give people the chance to clarify or explain. You give yourself the chance to grasp the FULL picture so that you can make a more informed decision about what to do (based on their response to your question). But this presence of mind isn't possible when you can't accept your feelings/emotions and they run wild as a result.
One common misapplication of Ti is the tendency to jump to illogical conclusions or make up illogical stories about what is motivating people's negative behavior, all the while believing that you're being completely logical. It's a destructive way to deal with negative or disharmonious feelings. Once the false narrative infects your mind, you can't help but perceive the person as attacking you, even when they're not. This misuse of Ti is a major impediment to relationship building.
The problem with victim mentality is that you are hyperfocused on your perspective only, so you only have half the picture, which means making ill-informed decisions. If you are prone to Ti loop, you need to get to the bottom of why you're so quick to position yourself in the passive position of victim. A healthy relationship should be an equal partnership based on trust, which means that you should always try to 1) give people the benefit of the doubt, and 2) gather the facts of the situation before drawing a conclusion about what they intended or what kind of character they are.
If the fact of the matter is that the person really doesn't care about your feelings, then you know not to seek validation from them, and perhaps distance from them for your own good. Don't play around in toxic or abusive relationships. If the fact of the matter is that your perception of the situation doesn't match up with what they intended to say/do, then it's up to you to straighten out the situation in your mind before proceeding.
Trust your feelings, validate your feelings, but don't act blindly on them (i.e. without fully grasping what's happening with the other person). Figure out why exactly you're feeling what you're feeling, then take it up with the person in a way that addresses the root of the problem and in a way that doesn't immediately put them on the defensive. Conflict is sometimes unavoidable, but being more skilled at communicating your concerns will certainly reduce the amount of pain required to reach a resolution.

-At first he’s kind of offended when you keep getting distracted while he’s talking, but once he realizes it doesn’t mean you’re not interested, he’s cool!
-Has no problem repeating what he said, even if he has to do it twenty times in one conversation
-Kazuichi can completely empathize with getting emotional when something doesn’t turn out right
-He gets the same way when it’s his own creations, so he knows exactly how you feel and how to help
-“Hey, Y/N, don’t worry about it, okay?! We can always try again! Plus, I think this turned out pretty damn cool, anyway...”
-He’s always encouraging you and complimenting all of your works, even the ones you don’t think are up to par. And he genuinely means everything he says
-You can count on him to always be there to motivate you to try again or move onto the next project
Byakuya Togami
-He’s honestly really impressed with how creative you are
-You’ll probably never know genuinely how much, because the most he’ll say is a “That’s quite an idea, Y/N”
-He’s going to get frustrated at first if you zone out often, so bear with him as he gets over himself a bit
-Once he does get more used to it, he’ll just sigh and repeat what he said. It isn’t much better than before, but at least he’s not rolling his eyes with a snarky reply anymore
-He kind of... nitpicks your ideas? He doesn’t mean it in a harmful way, he just wants to add on in his own way. He’ll add on his own suggestions for a more practical and successful approach
-He’s actually a pretty good listener, though you’ll mostly get hums and grunts as responses as he doesn’t have much to add onto your thoughts
-If you’re a writer, he’s fully willing to proof read your stuff! He won’t say that, of course, but you can tell by how quickly he gives in when you ask him
-When you get emotional that something didn’t go right, he’ll walk past you and take a look at it himself
-“...This turned out well, Y/N. Our minds expectations are always higher than what we can accomplish; or, you’re your own worst critic, as they say.”
Shuichi Saihara
-He’s amazed with how many ideas you have?? It seems like you never run out, and he’s so interested in hearing every one
-He doesn’t really have much to add on (and he kinda feels like he’s imposing by suggesting stuff) but if you ask he’s more than happy to give his own thoughts!
-Doesn’t mind you zoning out at all! He actually starts picking up on the signs that you are and either 1. catches your attention again or 2. gives you a minute before going on
-When you start getting emotional over something that didn’t turn out quite right, he’s right there beside you to ride it out with you
-“I-I think it’s amazing, Y/N, really!” and he does! But he knows what it’s like to not meet your own expectations, so he tries his best to be there for you
-And when you eventually pick up the motivation to start a new piece/work on your project again, he’s right there supporting you
Nagito Komaeda
-He’s astounded by how many ideas you have, and he wants to know about every single one
-This man is one of the best listeners you’ll ever meet
-He’s dead silent while you talk unless you want him to add stuff in or ask questions, in which he’s got you, too!
-He loves watching you work, and will gladly sit by you for hours just chilling
-Doesn’t mind at all if you zone out, but he may take it way too personally in a self hatred way, so make sure to reassure him it’s not because of him
-He’s so, so supportive of everything you make!
-He really does not understand how you could think that something didn’t turn out well, because “everything you do is amazing, my love!”
-He’s got so many compliments for every project you work on. It’s almost too much, but later on in the relationship he knows when to pull back
-If you’re a painter, he’d love to paint with you!! He has no qualms about getting messy, and he loves spending time with you!
Hajime Hinata
-He loves listening to all of your thoughts and ideas!!
-Secretly kinda jealous of how big your imagination is, but he won’t tell you that
-He doesn’t have much to weigh in tbh, he just likes listening, but he’ll give suggestions if you want!
-Tbh he zones out a lot, too, so he totally understands you! He’ll just gently snap your attention back if you ask him to!
-He’s also right by your side when he sees you start to get emotional over a project
-He tries his best to comfort you, mostly by complimenting the piece in question and reassuring you it looks great (and it does!)
-He’ll stick to just comforting you if you don’t want any compliments, tho. He’s a great hugger!
-If you draw, sometimes you’ll catch him sketching in his own little book after watching you draw. He only lets you catch a glimpse of it before he shuts it, but it looked... suspiciously like you?
Kiyotaka Ishimaru
-This man admires you so, so much. He has so much respect for you
-He’s not really an art person, so if your projects are art based he is so enamored by it! If you’ll let him, he’d love to sit in and watch you while you work!
-Your creativity is so fascinating to him. He loves hearing all of your ideas, and loves discussing them with you!
-He’ll try to add in suggestions, but if you want him to just listen he’s fine with that, too
-At first he thinks you’re zoning out because you’re being rude/disrespectful (and he’s a little hurt on the inside at the thought), but once you clarify that that’s not the case at all he’s 100% okay again
-Offers to proof read your stuff if you’re a writer! He may not be that good at creative writing, but he’s damn good at proof reading and editing writings
-He’ll absolutely ask for tips on some of the stuff that he’s interested in if that’s what you also do! (“Y/N, please teach me how to draw the other eye!”)
-He starts picking up on early signs that you’re starting to get emotional over a project, and he’ll rush to your side early to try and help out
-Whether it be by complimenting the piece (which he thinks is just... amazing, really, he doesn’t get how you don’t see that??) or just rubbing your back as you lament over it, he’s right there
Sonia Nevermind
-She’s so excited!!! She loves listening to other people talk about what they’re passionate about!
-She could spend hours just sitting with you and listening to you talk about your new ideas!
-She’ll get so excited if you ask her to weigh in with her opinion, so excited that she may fill up the suggestion with curse words on accident
-She doesn’t mind you zoning out at all! She knows it’s not intentional and she has no problem just catching your attention again and asking where in her sentence you zoned out so she can continue
-Sonia is very observant about the people she cares about, so she can see that you’re starting to get emotional over a piece before you even notice it
-At an instant she’s bringing you water and snacks, suggesting to take a break with her and relax for a bit
-If that doesn’t work, she’ll wrap you up in her arms to comfort you and remind you that even if this didn’t turn out exactly how you wanted, it still turned out amazing in the end, and that is something to be proud of!
Mondo Oowada
-Damn, he’s impressed. How do you have so many ideas up in your head?? He’s astounded with every one tbh!
-Sometimes he asks you for ideas for what he should build next! (He’ll also let you paint his stuff if you want)
-If you paint or draw, please ask him to join you one day. It will be hilarious and endearing (imagine him drawing a hideous stick figure and labelling it as you)
-He likes sitting you in his lap as you talk about your ideas, and he’ll hum as he listens to you; he’s more of a listener
-Doesn’t mind at all if you zone out! He’ll just hum and repeat himself; no harm done! If you’re apologetic, he’ll scoff and reassure you that he does not “fuckin’ care, babe, it’s not a big deal to say something again”
-He can tell if you’re starting to get frustrated by a piece not going according to plan, and he tries to coax you into taking a break before you get too frustrated
-If you still get emotional over it, he’s beside you rubbing your back soothingly and reassuring you that you can try again another time
-Brings you away from the piece to get your mind off of it, whether that be by motorcycle ride, movie, etc., he’s pulling out all the stops

Time and Space.
A/N: Another angsty one that won’t have a part two, i’ve left it down to readers interpretation as to what happens next. I enjoy writing more angsty fics and i enjoyed writing this. I hope you all enjoy! There is also some slight POV changes in this so if i missed any you/she’s that needed to be corrected i apologise.
Summary: Tom's been distant and it reaches its breaking point.
Warnings: Swearing, so much angst, mentions of mental health being affected.
W/C: 3K
If someone had told you a year ago that on your next birthday you’d be sat crying into your drink you’d have laughed at them but would they have been wrong? No. Here you were crying into your drink and violently sobbing while Tuwaine rubbed your back and tried to calm you down, it wasn’t working.
Harrison was furious with his best friend, he couldn’t be more angry if he tried. He’d promised her he was going to be here and where was he? Well if he’d pick up his fucking phone Harrison might have an answer for the sobbing girl. Tuwaine was utterly lost, he had no idea how to make her feel better.
You looked at your phone for what felt like the millionth time that night, nothing from him and it was 12.01am the day after your birthday. He hadn’t said happy birthday and he hadn’t seen you on your birthday, not spared you a thought in 24 hours. You knew something was wrong, something you couldn’t quite get a grip on, he’d become distant.
“Hey.” You said as you approached him, he was sat on his phone, he didn’t even look at you. “Do you wanna do something today?” You asked and he huffed quietly.
“Not today, love.” He’d answered and it felt cold, withdrawn. He still hadn’t looked at you.
“Okay, then I’m gonna go out for a bit.” You said and he hummed not looking away from his phone.
**
“I applied for a promotion today.” You said over dinner, he was yet to say anything to you.
“Nice.” He said. It sounded like he didn’t mean it. No further questions as if he wanted the conversation to be over.
“I’m kinda nervous for it.” You said hoping to keep the conversation going.
“You’ll do great.” He said as he got up and left the room.
**
He’d been nothing but distant over the last couple of weeks and last night he missed a dinner date, he apologised, although it seemed half arsed and didn’t give a reason. You knew he wasn’t cheating because Harrison had texted you to apologise that he kept Tom out, but Tom said nothing about it. You got up and couldn’t help the brim of tears in your eyes.
“You okay?” He asked as you sniffled.
“Yeah.” You mumbled as you sniffled again and rubbed your nose.
“Okay.” He said as he made his way out the door. You cried for the first time in those couple of weeks. You knew he wasn’t cheating so did he just not love you anymore? Were you an inconvenience? Your mind ran at a thousand miles an hour thinking over all the reasons he was being so cold.
It only got worse, one missed dinner date turned into three so you stopped organising them. He never had a reason for missing them and the last time he’d done it didn’t even pull and apology from him. You folded your arms over the table and stuffed your face into them as you cried harder and Tuwaine wondered how that was possible.
Tuwaine watched as she sobbed her heart out in the middle of a bar not caring if people were looking or not. He pulled her into his chest as she sobbed harder, the tears instantly wetting his shirt but he didn’t care, he was heartbroken for the girl in his arms. He looked at Harrison as Harrisons nostrils flared before he abruptly stood from the table and made his way outside.
“Hey, shh. Come on Y/N, it’s your birthday.” Tuwaine said to her and she didn’t respond, probably didn’t hear as her crying was so loud, he was almost in tears himself watching her break apart in his arms. She shouldn’t be in his arms, this should be Tom comforting her but fuck knows where he is.
Harrison pulled up Tom’s contact one last time before he decided that he was going to go over there and rip him a new one. He placed the phone to his ear as he ran his hands through his hair, surprisingly Tom picked up after the third ring.
“Hey mate.”
“Where the fuck are you?” Harrison growled down the phone.
“What do you mean?” Tom asked confused.
“Of course you forgot. You really are a piece of shit.” Harrison laughed sarcastically, his heart was well and truly broken for the girl inside.
“Forgot what? Are you gonna just keep insulting me or tell me what I’ve done?” Tom snapped and Harrisons nostrils flared as his anger bubbled further to the brim.
“Where’s Y/N?” He asked.
“I don’t know she wasn’t home when I got back.” Tom answered almost as if it meant nothing. No concern. No fucking anything. Harrisons anger completely boiled over.
“It’s her birthday you absolute fucking bell end. She’s sat in the middle of a pub crying because you couldn’t keep yet another promise. You really have outdone yourself.” Harrison said and he heard Tom curse at the other end of the phone.
“Shit, tell her I’ll be there in ten.” He said.
“Don’t fucking bother. You have done more than enough. I’m bringing her home soon and you better just fucking leave her be.” Harrison said.
“No disrespect mate but this is my relationship.” Tom snapped and Harrison laughed at that.
“Is it? Does she know you’re still together?” Harrison bit back, he was beyond angry.
“What the fuck is that supposed to mean?” Tom shouted back at him.
“If you don’t know what I mean by that Tom I’m not fucking trying.” Harrison snapped as he put the phone down. He stormed back into the pub, his anger having risen to a point of what he thought was no return until he saw Y/N again and all anger dissipated as he watched her cry into Tuwaine’s chest that should have been Tom’s.
You couldn’t control yourself as you cried, so many thoughts running through your head. You had to go home eventually but that meant back to Tom, maybe, if he was there. You would ask to stay at one of the boy’s house but their house was your house and it was far too late to call anyone else. Maybe you could get a hotel for the night, you didn’t want to speak to Tom tonight, not after this.
“Y/N? I’m gonna take you home okay? I’m gonna give you my room and I’ll sleep on the sofa.” You heard Harrison say as he crouched down next to you.
“But what if Tom’s there?” You sobbed back and he took your hands in his as you pulled away from Tuwaine.
“If you don’t want to speak to Tom tonight you don’t have to.” Harrison said and you nodded as you both stood. Tuwaine grabbed your things as Harrison guided you outside and flagged down a taxi. You managed to compose yourself a little as you sat in the taxi.
“I don’t think he loves me anymore.” You said and Harrison sighed. Harrison wasn’t sure he could answer this, Tom hadn’t said anything but he was sure acting like he didn’t.
“Let’s just get you home and we can talk about this tomorrow okay? You need some sleep.” Harrison said as he pulled you into his side. At some point the crying had taken a toll on you and you let the exhaustion pull you under and you let silent tears fall.
Harrison was aware she’d fallen asleep and a part of him was happy about it, she wouldn’t have to face him tonight. He was so angry that Tom hadn’t seen the heart break in her, she’d become distant herself, lost in her own thoughts more often. She wasn’t enthusiastic anymore and anyone with eyes could see she was slowly breaking so why hadn’t Tom?
Harrison paid the driver as he carefully moved her out of the taxi, carrying her bridal style up the driveway. He noticed the living room light on and he sighed, Tom was waiting. Tuwaine unlocked the door as he made his way upstairs and as Harrison kicked the door shut gently Tom came in.
“She okay?” Tom asked and his heart broke as he took in the state of her, she looked so tired, almost broken, she didn’t have that same peaceful look on her face that sleep normally brought.
“Don’t.” Harrison gritted out as he started to make his way upstairs.
“Harrison sh-“ Tom began to say and Harrison spun round to look at his face.
“Don’t you fucking dare wake her up. I’ll be back down shortly.” Harrison gritted out and Tom nodded as he watched his friend carry his girlfriend upstairs and into his room. She shouldn’t even be crying but here she is and Tom should be comforting her but here he is.
Tom sat on the living room sofa as his leg bounced waiting for his friend to reappear. He was aware he was in for an argument. He’d just been so stressed recently and he’d taken it out on her and he felt awful, he hadn’t noticed the change in her but seeing her tonight and she was only asleep made him realise how much he’d fucked up. Harrison entered the living room as he shut the door and Tom instantly shot up.
“What did you get her?” Harrison asked.
“What?” Tom asked with furrowed brows, he wasn’t sure where this was going.
“For her birthday?” Harrison clarified.
“I forgot.” Tom swallowed as he watched his friends nostrils flare.
“Fucking brilliant. Do you know what she said to me tonight?” Harrison said as he crossed his arms over his chest and Tom shook his head, he couldn’t find his voice.
“She said ‘I don’t think he loves me anymore’ and she fucking believed it.” Harrison said and Tom felt his heart shatter. He knew he’d been distant and he knew he wasn’t being fair to her but he never once thought she’d believe he didn’t love her.
“I do.” Tom said as he felt his tears, he had really fucked up.
“I couldn’t tell her that, Tom.” Harrison sighed as he felt his anger wash away all of a sudden, he was just left with a sadness in his chest over the situation. “I couldn’t stick up for you because you haven’t given me a reason to make her believe otherwise.” Tom’s tears slipped down his cheeks at that, had he really been so cold?
“I’ve just been so stressed, I didn’t mean to be that way.” Tom said and Harrison sighed again as he ran his hands over his face.
“But you were and you didn’t see what it was doing to her. Fuck, Tom we picked up on her changes weeks ago.” Harrison said and Tom nodded as he sniffled. He felt like he had a whole in his heart that was only going to be made bigger once he spoke to his girlfriend.
“I’ve really fucked up Haz, I need to speak to her.” Tom said as he cried.
“Not tonight Tom please, just let her sleep.” Harrison begged as he placed a reassuring hand on his friends shoulder and Tom nodded as he said goodnight and made his way upstairs, he was scared this was going to be the end, that she wouldn’t forgive him for this. He collapsed onto his bed tossing and turning, thinking about what the morning will bring until he eventually fell asleep.
You woke up and your head was pounding from the tears you’d shed last night. You felt awful and as you turned to the bedside table you saw that a packet of painkillers and a bottle of water had been left with a note.
For your head. Me, Tuwaine and Harrison have gone out for the day so you two can talk. I’m here if you need anything, Harry.
Harry hadn’t been able to make it last night for legitimate reasons and the boys must have filled him in this morning. As for Tom, you still had no idea why he couldn’t make it last night. You swallowed the painkillers and drank the bottle of water before making your way into the bathroom. You looked at yourself in the mirror after you finished brushing your teeth and you were shocked by the sight.
You had horrendous bags under your eyes and no life in them. You looked tired, completely drained of energy. You almost cried again at the sight of yourself but you were sure you legitimately couldn’t cry again, you felt numb after your breakdown last night.
You took a shower and let the water wash your tear stains away along with everything else. You felt ready to talk to Tom now, more prepared than last night, you were sure you had no more tears left for him. You loved him, god did you love him but this wasn’t working at the minute and you came to accept that when you were in the shower. His feelings had changed and there was nothing you could do about it, sometimes it happens and you had to accept that.
You realised that you’d have to go back into your shared bedroom in order to get changed and you mentally prepared yourself one last time before you opened the door and there he was sat on the edge of the bed. Your heart broke slightly at the sight of him, he looked tired, like he’d hardly slept. You silently got dressed as neither of you dare say a word until you heard Tom sigh.
“Y/N/N, I’m so sorry.” He said and his voice broke as tears made their way down his face.
“Why weren’t you there?” You asked, voice tired, devoid of all emotion. Tom sobbed before he answered, he knew this would break you heart, you on the other hand weren’t sure if you had any heart left to break.
“I forgot.” He said and shame laced his tone. He prepared himself for the shouting but it never came you only nodded. The lack of emotion from you was frightening Tom to no end.
“Do you still love me?” You asked, you needed to know. You watched as tears fell like a waterfall down his beautiful face. You were right in assuming you had no tears left because usually the sight of him crying would cause some of your own tears, but not right now.
“I do. I love you so much princess. I’m sorry, I’ve been so stressed lately and I took it out on you and I shouldn’t have.” He was still sat on the edge of the bed as he dropped his head into his hands and cried again. You stood still in your position across the room. Normally the nickname would fill you with happiness but right now it was hitting a brick wall. Your heart slightly lifted to hear he still loved you but you still needed space.
“Please can we talk about this? I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to. I really do love you and I mean that.” He said.
“That’s first time you’ve said those words in a while.” You spoke as you realised.
“What?” He furrowed his brows as he looked at you.
“I love you.” You replied, voice still void of emotion. You were speaking as if you were listing off a fact file.
“I’m sorry.” Tom shook his head as he sniffled loudly before burying his head in his hands again.
“I’m gonna go stay with a friend.” You said as you slowly started to pack a suitcase.
“What? No, baby, we can fix this. You don’t have to leave.” He panicked as he frantically looked at you. You sighed as you continued to pack.
“Tom, I’m tired and I’m drained. I need some time away.” You said honestly as you zipped up your case after having packed what you’d need for a while.
“Please, Y/N don’t leave me.” He pleaded with you as he stood. You sighed again, you’d been through this in your head, you needed time, both of you did.
“Tom, I need some time away from you okay. I need time to think and to process the last seven weeks.” You said.
“What if you don’t come back?” He panicked as he made his way over to you, taking your face in both of his hands looking straight into your eyes. “I love you so much, please don’t leave me. We can talk about it.” Tom was pleading with you now and you felt your first tear fall as he swiftly swiped it away with his thumb.
“Tom I love you, I really do. But we need space and then we can talk okay?” You said.
“But what if you stop loving me?” Tom worried and you smiled as you placed your hands over his.
“A part of me will always love you and I mean that.”
“This feels like a goodbye.” Tom cried.
“It doesn’t have to be, but we need time and space right now. That’s what we need, when I’m ready to talk I’ll let you know.” You said through a sad smile. “I love you.” You said as you placed a sweet kiss to his lips which he instantly returned, his tears mixing with the kiss. You pulled away from him as you grabbed your case.
“I love you so much, please don’t forget that.” Tom said as you made you’re way out of the door.
“I won’t. I’ll call you when I’m ready to talk.” You softly smiled at him and he returned it as you shut the door and made your way to your car.

I need to know more about “SVSSS - Baby Brother Liu Qingge” bc I love tiny and very deadly baby LQG
I have a 3k-ish Shang Qinghua POV that was supposed to be the introduction to this fic concept! So... ah... baby Liu Qingge does not appear in this, but you can see the setup for how an 8yo-ish Liu Qingge was supposed to be introduced. My hope is that this will someday become a "Shang Qinghua and Shen Jiu go on a mission with Baby Brother Liu Qingge" one shot.
-cut-
Shang Qinghua didn't really have the words to describe what it was like having Proud Immortal Demon Way's characters finally come into his second life.
He didn't have the words to describe a lot of his transmigration experience, honestly! His words had described a lot of this world already, haha, hadn't they? Sometimes a person just had to put up with it and keep going.
And then excuse himself later to go scream into a pillow! Many times!
At first, life was just him in a body that didn't fit and strange memories that slipped between his fingers like sand. His memories of a past life had settled eventually, the System finally came fully online, and his relationship with his second family was fully fucked forever. That was fine, though! That was fine! With some unsolicited prodding from his System, he left to go seek his fortune soon enough and he never had to talk to his character's birth parents or siblings again.
But Airplane Shooting Towards The Sky had never said much of anything about Shang Qinghua’s family or home village, besides saying that the man had dreamed of more than his mediocre origins, so everything had been unfamiliar and original and real. Getting to Cang Qiong Mountain Sect, which he had described in great detail, was a real headfuck. There were no words for the experience of recognizing things that he’d written in another life.
He saw the glistening rainbow bridge and the intimidating sect entrance and the majestic meeting hall on Qiong Ding, and he nearly screamed. He definitely squawked. His vision got really fuzzy for a minute there and he had to sit down on the ground before he fell over. What the fuck?! What the fuck?! He’d made a world! The System had really made a world out of his web-novel! He was really stuck in Proud Immortal Demon Way!
There were upsides and downsides to joining Cang Qiong Mountain Sect. Downsides included: the hard training, the harder workload, the dangerous missions, the disrespect towards An Ding Peak, and being surrounded by arrogant and foolish teenagers looking to look down on someone. It was really something else to look some of them in the eye and think, "Bro, I don’t know your name, but you kind of owe your existence to me. Could you stop being such a fucking asshole about leaving your chores for me to do?! Respect your father!"
Upsides included: actually becoming a cultivator (pretty cool, even though the work of cultivation sucked more often than not), better living accommodations and food, and actually getting to see some of the cooler places, plants, monsters, and magic that were a part of his world. Sure, carting a monster corpse brought in by Bai Zhan Peak to Xi Jiao Peak for butchering was smelly and heavy and altogether miserable, but seeing an impossible animal was still kind of incredible. If this unwilling Shang Qinghua could stop being pushed around and stepped on long enough to appreciate the upsides, he’d really appreciate it!
It was interesting and infuriating to log the differences between what he’d imagined, what he’d written, and what the System had created. What sort of author described every single object in every single room? Who had time for that? Who wanted to read that? The System had filled in all the living details of An Ding Peak - the Leisure Houses, the training grounds, the storehouses, the warehouses, the kitchens, the lesson halls, the leisure gardens, the farming fields, the livestock fields, the stables, the cart lot, the water supply, the sewage systems, and so on - so that people could actually live here. Airplane Shooting Towards The Sky as an author had done many things worthy of complaint and criticism, but wasting his readers’ time with sewage systems was not one of them!
The System had also filled in all the little details and decorations - the paintings on the walls of sect history, the detailing on the rooftops supposedly offering protections from dream demons, the chipped and faded paint of old storehouses that disciples would be tasked with replacing, the statues in the fields to scare off scavengers, the carvings on the doors meant to reduce resentful energy, the childish etchings of bored students the surface of the lesson hall desks, the old bench where the An Ding Peak Lord liked to sit and eat flatcakes - so that it really seemed like people had built this place and maintained it and added to it for generations.
Shang Qinghua had his quibbles here and there. Sometimes the System had made choices that he objected to! He would have done it differently if it had asked him, the author, to contribute. He really felt as though the System should have asked him to clarify the plot holes and the gaps in detail, instead of choosing precedence randomly or building off random implications taken way too literally.
Sometimes he found out that the System had built things out of throwaway lines that Shang Qinghua himself had completely forgotten about. It turned out that Ku Xing Peak made a lot of purification tools and containment vessels because Airplane had offhandedly mentioned that this was their specialty, and now Shang Qinghua had to cart around delicate ceramics to be sold to city merchants or other cultivation sects. He never would have dared to write that if he’d known that it would one day in another life be his job to do things like take inventory and chase down signatures for successful deliveries.
Places, items, and creatures were one thing, but logging the differences between the people he met and the characters he’d created was something else. At first it was okay, because he was surrounded by nameless An Ding Peak nobodies - his fellow disciples, their teachers, the hardworking managers and merchants, even the peak lord - none of them had ever mattered in Proud Immortal Demon Way. If Airplane had been the one to name any of them, he didn’t recognize the names or remember them.
Then he met Yue Qingyuan.
Wow, it was a worse headfuck than first arriving at Cang Qiong Mountain Sect, when Shang Qinghua finally realized that this was the young version of one of his actual characters. It took him a minute. As a lowly outer disciple, Shang Qinghua hadn’t received “Qinghua” as a name yet (his name was Houhua, not that anyone ever used it) and the future Yue Qingyuan was still called Yue Qi.
Shang Qinghua was fourteen at the time. Yue Qingyuan must have been around the same age, so he didn’t strike the tall and handsome figure of the sect leader Airplane had described. The boy was broad, but actually a little short. He had freckles. He had acne.
But he also had a warm smile that seemed to go all the way to his eyes when he offered to give Shang Qinghua directions to the right office on Qiong Ding. He had a steady hand when he helped Shang Qinghua up, after the An Ding disciple had suddenly tripped over nothing upon being introduced. Yue Qingyuan - Yue Qi - walked him to the right office and did his best to make small talk, friendly and kind even though Shang Qinghua was having difficulty stringing more than a few words together in his shock.
Even then, it was obvious that the boy was developing the calm surety and the social charm that would make him a greatly admired sect leader someday! It was all Shang Qinghua could do not to blurt out: “Holy shit, you’re REAL?!” Which would be closely followed by: “Hey, is Shen Qingqiu really real too?!” And then maybe closely followed by: “FUCK!!!”
As the years went by, Shang Qinghua met more of Proud Immortal Demon Way’s characters, and it was weird every time. None of them were exactly like he was expecting. He kept expecting… well… he kept expecting them to look like the fanart, like flawless character models, more or less. Instead, he kept getting… people.
Wei Qingwei, head disciple of the sword-focused Wan Jian Peak, was also shorter than he was expecting, kind of stout, with a wide face and a wider smile. Airplane Shooting Towards The Sky had apparently had the man crack a few jokes upon his rare appearances in the web-novel, usually during tense situations, as he was reminded by the System upon thinking to himself: “Why is this guy LIKE THIS?!” So, because of just a few lines, the real Wei Qingwei had a relentless sense of humor and loved telling jokes.
Upon their first meeting, when Shang Qinghua was fifteen and had been sent over to help renovate some Wan Jian dormitories, fifteen-year-old Wei Qingwei had pretended to fumble a sword and, using a packet of dye and a sleight of hand, made it look like he’d accidentally cut off his own hand at the wrist. Of course Shang Qinghua had screamed and panicked! Anyone would panic! But Wei Qingwei had laughed at him and said, “Got you! Shang-Shidi, the sword wasn’t even unsheathed!” Asshole!
Qi Qingqi, the head disciple of Xian Shu Peak, was much taller than he was expecting. Apparently Airplane had once described a group of some of the peak lords by saying something like: “Each one of them was like a giant to young Luo Binghe.” That group had included Qi Qingqi. The System apparently had taken that to mean that Qi Qingqi was of a height with the likes of Yue Qingyuan and Shen Qingqiu. Shang Qinghua discovered this adaptational choice when he was almost sixteen, when this giraffe-like girl came to An Ding Peak to complain about an order someone along the pipeline had dropped completely, and he accidentally found himself (still waiting on a really good growth spurt) eye-level with Qi Qingqi’s chest.
Airplane had apparently once said in Proud Immortal Demon Way that Qian Cao Peak Lord Mu Qingfang appeared a little older than his colleagues, by which he’d probably meant that the man was just tired or something, but this head disciple Mu Qingfang appeared to have ten years on all the other head disciples. Which was good! Shang Qinghua approved of their future head healer not being a teenager and having more training!
On the bad side of things, Airplane had also once said in Proud Immortal Demon Way that the Zui Xian Peak Lord Zhang Qingyan liked his drink too much. This was the peak specializing in alcohol, so it had seemed to make sense! It was supposed to be funny, if anything! Well, at sixteen, Shang Qinghua found out that the System had focused too much on the “too much” part of that statement and now the head disciple of Zui Xian Peak was pretty clearly a budding alcoholic. (Sometimes a cultivator’s constitution and ability to “cure” themselves just… made a person drink more. A lot more.) Which was… not good.
At seventeen, Shang Qinghua met Mobei-Jun.
He didn’t know where to get started with Mobei-Jun.
Somehow he’d… forgotten that Mobei-Jun had been originally based on Airplane’s idea of “the perfect man” and not the super pretty, muscular but slim-waisted protagonist type? The real Mobei-Jun was… tall… and big… and thick. Mobei-Jun’s intimidating features were… more striking than pretty. The first time Shang Qinghua had come back to his Leisure House and found this spoiled brat of an ice demon napping shirtless on his bed, and gotten an eyeful of all that heavy muscle and chest hair, he’d nearly knocked himself out on the doorframe trying to turn away before he had a heart attack.
Mobei-Jun really was going to be the death of him, holy shit.
Especially because this ice demon really was a spoiled brat! Airplane had described this character as being arrogant and apathetic, so now Shang Qinghua had to deal with a Mobei-Jun who took long baths and then carelessly dripped water all over the floor and all over fresh sheets! Who ate all of Shang Qinghua’s cooking and ungratefully only demanded more food, sprawled over furniture not really fit for someone of his size, and then watched Shang Qinghua like a fat tiger! Ahhh, this demon really was lucky he was handsome!
Mobei-Jun was also kind of violent, and mean, which was… well, it sucked.
Back to the sect that Shang Qinghua was now actively betraying, however, as far as he could see, there was still one future peak lord missing.
It wasn’t Shen Qingqiu, who Shang Qinghua had thought would be the last one to show up. Shen Qingqiu had shown up and had been advancing through the ranks of Qing Jing Peak before Shang Qinghua had even met Mobei-Jun, which meant that Yue Qingyuan had finally stopped looking like someone had torn out his soul. (Shang Qinghua had been forced to grit his teeth every time that someone mentioned how privileged that Yue Qingyuan was to have been granted that year of secluded cultivation in the Lingxi Caves at such a young age.)
No, of all the peak lords, it was Liu Qingge who Shang Qinghua had yet to meet.
After meeting Mobei-Jun and becoming an inner disciple, the System had given Shang Qinghua three years to make it to head disciple, probably because the deadline for a new generation of peak lords to ascend was fast approaching. He was working hard to achieve that! Not only did he have to sabotage the current favorite, but he had to make sure all his own training, missions, work, and research were as close to flawless as he could get it! All while keeping an intruding ice demon happy! He wasn’t totally sure that he was going to make it at this rate, even though he’d been here for years.
So it was a little concerning that Liu Qingge hadn't shown up yet. There was so much left to do. A world-state that had yet to be established. Liu Qingge had work to do here!
Liu Qingge and Shen Qingqiu still had to develop a hatred for each other as disciples that would extend to everyone believing that Shen Qingqiu had murdered Liu Qingge as peak lords, after all. Granted, all Liu Qingge really had to do was beat everyone else on Bai Zhan Peak up to obtain the position, and it wasn’t exactly hard to get Shen Qingqiu to develop a lifelong grudge, but the guy was still cutting it pretty close.
It was possible that Liu Qingge was already on Bai Zhan Peak and making good progress, but that he was just so solitary and focused on searching out the next big battle that Shang Qinghua had just never had the opportunity to meet him. Shang Qinghua did his best to avoid Bai Zhan Peak most of the time, honestly! He was curious about where Liu Qingge was, about what the man looked like, but he didn’t let himself sweat at not seeing the future war god, when he already had so many things to sweat about. The System had taken care of bringing in everyone else, so Shang Qinghua was sure that Liu Qingge would follow sooner or later.
Shang Qinghua’s first sign that something was wrong was that, on the day that Liu Qingge finally announced his existence by beating up everyone on Bai Zhan Peak, everyone was saying things like, “I can’t believe some kid managed to topple all of Bai Zhan like that!”
He… may or may not have ignored this sign.
To be fair to this poor writer-turned-disciple, though, he’d been up all night finishing some paperwork catastrophe the An Ding Peak Lord had thrown at him to fix, as some kind of “test” of his logistics skills. Upon hearing the latest gossip, Shang Qinghua thought, “Oh, finally?” And then his overtired brain collapsed from the effort of thinking two words together in a sentence, and all he could manage from there was to feel the intense need to go to bed at a maximum, static-y volume. No words. No more thinky thoughts. Just the need for speedy sleep.
He stumbled through the rest of his day and then passed out for 18 hours straight. In hindsight, this would have been the time when the gossip was at its hottest. He missed all of it.
When he woke up, everyone was still dealing with the aftermath of what had happened on Bai Zhan Peak, but the conversation had shifted more towards replacing Qian Cao Peak’s depleted supplies and the repairs to Bai Zhan’s training grounds. Liu Qingge was the name on everyone’s lips, still, but everyone knew the basic information now. Now, everyone was just exclaiming over and over again how unbelievably young (and pretty) he was to have bested every other disciple on the sect battle-focused peak. This didn't seem too strange.
The System probably would have based the War God's appearance on his sister, Liu Mingyan, a strong contender for the most beautiful woman in all of Proud Immortal Demon Way. Liu Qingge apparently being a very pretty boy fell neatly into line with all the other character design surprises that Shang Qinghua had gotten smacked with so far.
If Airplane had known that he'd be transmigrating into his novel, maybe there would have been even more handsome men! And everyone would have lived happily ever after and nothing bad would have happened ever, probably, but also there might be more sexy guys too.

saying you’re “mad” txt hasn’t released anti romantic in English is, I’m sorry to say, racist. It may be unintentional but it IS racist. Koreans do not have to make English music for you to go to work and not annoy your coworkers. That’s not their business, just like it’s none of YOUR business what they release. It doesn’t matter how good the song is to you. It doesn’t matter if it “slaps”. It doesn’t matter that it’s given you “ANY interest in txt’s music”.
You’re just one—entitled—consumer and saying you’re mad about this is genuinely just embarrassing, no matter how lighthearted you meant the post to be. And before you come at me, it’s not “not that deep.” This is 100% a microaggression that’s perpetuated all over the place in this industry. Koreans don’t need to speak English for you as a white person. You’re annoying to think otherwise and I have absolutely no respect for that creepy attitude. And also, the fact you try to double down with some point about how this would gain them success on the charts is a ridiculously inappropriate statement. You’re not their manager, friend, or an expert. I don’t have any type of blind trust in BigHit—they’re not perfect or even great at managing their artists—but you, a white/non-Korean woman, making some kind of statement about their success just because of a work playlist is uncalled for. If their professional judgement made them want to record an English version, they would have. And the truth is, you’re only bringing that up to exude a sense of selflessness. You complain about something that is ONLY a problem to you and then back it up with some crock that is “to help them.” Again, maybe it’s unintentional but it gives the strongest air of white-saviorism. You definitely need to check yourself for that privilege, especially with the way you interact with that whole industry.
I was so confused when I checked my inbox and saw this series of messages lol, like I forgot I even posted that, so I was confused why you’re coming in my inbox three days after I said this. But I scrolled down and found my post to remind myself what I said:
Tumblr media
I really didn’t mean for it to come off like any of the way that you described, but reading this back I can see how you got your interpretation. I just want to clarify what I was trying to say, and I’m sorry if it still doesn’t come across in the right way. First, I love the song the way it is, I generally don’t care that it’s not in English, and that goes for basically every single Kpop song I’ve heard. If I didn’t want to listen to music in Korean, I wouldn’t be a Kpop fan. I’m not saying that I wish they would just sing in English or speak in English because that would be ridiculous, and if I wanted those things I would just be a fan of artists that only sang or spoke in English. That’s not at all what I was trying to say.
Secondly, I understand that it is a big issue with people (“fans”) telling artists to speak/sing in English, so maybe I should have phrased it differently in that post, but that is simply not really the way I think about it.
Third, my coworkers and the area I live in are largely country-music loving people, so a lot of pop music isn’t exactly their taste and especially not music when it’s in a different language. Some people just like music that they can understand and sing along to without having to learn a new language, and I don’t think there’s really any harm in that unless they’re being rude and/or disrespectful towards people who are fans of that type of music. Because of that, I stand by what I said about if the song were in English it would have been popular on American charts, like it’s undeniable that BTS started getting more radio play when they made English songs, like even my coworkers (who, again, largely listen to country, and sometimes very mainstream pop) have heard and recognize Dynamite and Butter.
Fourth, I am totally and fully aware that this music is not being made for me personally in any way, shape, or form. As you point out, I am white and an English speaker, so clearly the entirety of the Kpop genre was not created with me or anyone like me in mind. I don’t think that these artists need to cater to my specific tastes. Like damn lol I don’t think my opinion is gonna change anything, I don’t expect it to have any influence, just like when I complained about Sticker and said Lemonade should’ve been the title track, I didn’t think that opinion mattered either because it doesn’t. I’m sure their management teams are gonna do their best to make the best decisions for the group.
So lastly, Anti-Romantic is a terrific song exactly the way it is, I love it totally, and TXT is good too. I’m not saying anything against any of that, I was just trying to express my frustration that my coworkers don’t like Kpop music in the slightest (and to each their own, people like the music that they like. I like Kpop and they don’t. They like screamo music or country music, and I don’t really like either of those much), and since I know they won’t give the songs a chance in Korean, I just wish there was the opportunity for them to fall in love with the song in English, as maybe that could act as a gateway into the appreciation for more Kpop songs in Korean. Like I said up top, I’m sorry if this still comes across as rude because I really genuinely don’t mean it to be, I did mean the original post in a lighthearted way, and I am aware that there are prevalent issues throughout the world and among the Kpop community that could make that post seem a lot less lighthearted and more serious

I think you make a lot of great points in your analysis, and I agree with a lot of what you’re talking about.
Tumblr media
And don’t worry, I think you did an excellent job being respectful. I hope what I had to say didn’t come across as offensive!
I think I should clarify some of what I was thinking as well. I’m not saying anybody is wrong to dislike a character! That’s your own opinion and right as a consumer of the media! If you dislike any of the characters, for any reason, that’s fine and I won’t judge you for it— even if it’s Tim Drake, who I think has been well established as my personal favorite. What really got me going for this rant was when I was thinking about the people who transfer their hate of a character onto someone who likes that character.
To clarify even further, I’m not talking about the people who block character stan accounts. That’s a completely valid response when you see a piece of media you dislike and don’t want to see when you’re scrolling through tumblr. What I’m talking about is people who go out of their way to be mean and disrespectful to other fans (specifically of dc but I’m sure this also applies to a lot of other fandoms) just because they don’t like their favorite character. This isn’t a call-out post, and I’m not thinking of anyone in particular, I just know I’ve seen it, and I’m sure others have as well. The original post was talking more specifically about my fellow Tim Drake fans, and any of them who might be doing what I was talking about before, but the idea behind it applies to anyone harassing others online (or irl, but I think that’s less common).
Basically, be kind to others! People are allowed to disagree with you, believe it or not. If you dislike what they have to say, then block them. It’s as easy as that.
I’ve come to realize that there are several different types of Tim Drake fans, that can all be sorted different ways, but I’m going to sort them this way:
Hate/Dislike Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, and Damian Wayne: idk if this is a result of cancel culture or what, but the fact that they’ve all wronged him at least once is apparently the worst thing in the universe, as though not everyone has done something that could be perceived as wronging Tim at some point in comic history. I hate to break it to you guys, but y’all are extremely biased, and Tim isn’t so innocent either
Hate/Dislike Jason Todd and Damian Wayne: This is because they both tried to kill Tim at one point and you haven’t been able to let it go. While this is more valid than the last one, I still think you need to chill with the character hate, they’ve both been through some pretty traumatic stuff and we’re mostly not in their right minds when they did that. I mean, I’m not saying it’s okay that they tried to kill Tim, but they’re also fictional representations of what might occur if you came back to life after having died only to see all your insecurities thrown at your face, or if you were raised by a murder cult.
Hate/Dislike Damian Wayne: Now this group of people likely fall into the mentality that because at one point Tim hero-worshipped Jason, he must not have hard feelings for him, and therefore neither should you. But also you can’t forgive the 10-year-old for acting on his traumatized, raised-by-a-murder cult mentalities, like any 10-year-old has the ability to think outside their biases born from the childhood they were provided.
Love/Like ALL the robins: You either believe that Tim wouldn’t hold hard feelings, so neither should you, or you realize they’re all fictional characters who hold the fatal flaw of having flaws and not being perfect individuals.
I’m not saying that any of this is 100% accurate or anything, and you could probably throw some variations of adding Bruce, Stephanie, or even Alfred into the mix, but these are the thoughts that I had while taking a shower yesterday and have only just now put into typing.
Anywho, basically, there are people who don’t like Dick Grayson because of what happened when Dick gave Damian Robin, and while I see your perspective, and I don’t agree with his actions at the time, Dick was a desperate, young adult who just lost his second father and was thrust into a role and burden he never wanted. Of course he made mistakes, anyone would! I don’t believe he was ever trying to alienate Tim the way it ended up being. (Side note: the wanting to put Tim in Arkham is fanon, and should not be used as a reason for disliking Dick. I believe there was mention of therapy, but that’s it, and while it’s extremely hypocritical of Dick to suggest therapy while not being willing to go himself, it’s not like he was exactly wrong. They all need therapy; even before everyone he loved was dying around him Tim needed therapy. You probably need therapy too.)
For everyone who dislikes Jason Todd, I see your reasoning, I really do. He took his hurt and pain out at being replaced and unavenged out on Tim and likely did some pretty heavy psychological damage whilst doing so. It’s a bit hypocritical of him to be so upset about being replaced when he 1. Doesn’t know the full story and/or 2. Was a “replacement” himself. But you have to remember that none of this is really about Tim. Maybe that makes it worst, maybe that makes it better, but it’s the truth. Jason literally died and came back to life, and the minute he gains complete thought he realizes he’s been in the hands of the League of Assassins, and that his torturer and murderer is still out there causing harm to everyone he can. Was he wrong to take all of this out on Tim? Yes, obviously, Tim was just trying to help and honor Jason’s legacy. Does he deserve a chance to make it up to Tim and be better? Also yes. Batman preaches about second chances, which is part of the reason why he doesn’t kill, but to me that’s like being someone who’s never been a victim of rape or abuse, and telling someone who has been a victim of rape or abuse that they’re wrong for being traumatized and that they should forgive their rapist or abuser and just get over it. That’s not how trauma works, and even if you’re against killing someone yourself, you don’t get to tell a victim how to protect themselves from those who harmed them. Locking him up didn’t and doesn’t work, and all he’s doing is creating more victims without any inclination towards change or remorse.
Sorry, that went into a bit of a rant that nobody asked for. Not that anybody asked for any of this, of course. Anywho, the point of all that was to say that Jason Todd is a victim. I’m not saying that Tim isn’t a victim, and that he shouldn’t also get the same allowances as Jason of course. Tim also went through a very traumatizing experience, he should get to do what makes him feel safe. (Another side note: forgiving someone and putting yourself back into a harmful situation are two different things. You can forgive someone and also want to never have to see them again. That’s valid, and even if that person isn’t actively trying to harm you anymore, their presence in and of itself can still be harmful.)
This all leads into Damian Wayne. I mentioned before that Damian showed up as a traumatized 10-year-old straight out of being raised by a murder-cult. Damian, like Jason, is a victim and deserves the chance to grow and change. Tim is also a victim, and deserves not to constantly be in a state of Danger. So what does this mean? I’ve seen some people mention that Damian is never actually punished for any of his harmful actions. And I’ve seen other people wonder how you plan on punishing the traumatized 10-year-old. I’m not a parent, but I am currently studying psychology, and I believe some of the same stuff applies. You can’t just throw Damian in jail or ground him or something, that’s never going to work, and will only alienate him further— reducing his likelihood of listening and being open to change. Damian needs to be shown that his actions have consequences though (Look at me acting like he’s a real person). You can’t just hear/see him actively trying to harm someone and be like :( bad Damian. That just tells him that he’s never going to be punished for his actions, and can therefore get away with it. You need a balance, and to also recognize that Tim is allowed to be defensive and not want to be in the same room as Damian. You see Damian do something wrong? He’s benched from being Robin, and you explain that this is not what Robin represents and that Robin doesn’t bring harm to innocents. However, when you see him do something good? You reward him. Now you have positive reinforcement showing that certain actions have benefits. Damian is a victim of his past, but he’s also a child emulating what he knows. There’s a difference between not punishing him for being a victim, and teaching him to not create his own victims.
And that has been my unwanted and unasked for rant about the robins. Another side note, but if you create media that depicts any of the robins or Bruce, or any DC character in a negative light, I’m not telling you to stop. I can think that they don’t accurately depict who the characters are suppose to be and still love reading the angst.

Hi :) If it's not too much trouble, could you please share your take on why they'd continue the Adventure brand after tri. was such a flop? (and a tangent: what does "dark history" even mean?). We got Kizuna, the reboot, and a 02 movie. Logically, it doesn't really make sense they'd keep investing in it.
This is a thorny topic, and I'd like to reiterate that although I've ended up making more posts related to this series and the discourse surrounding it recently (probably because it's even more on the mind now that another movie is on the horizon and a lot of people are apprehensive for various reasons), I do not want this blog to be making a brand out of being critical of this series. I’m writing this here and in public because I figured that there is a certain degree I need to clarify what I mean about audience reception/climate and how it might impact current or future works, and I’m admittedly also more than a little upset that I occasionally see Western fanbase criticisms of the series getting dismissed by people claiming that the only people mad about it are dramamongering or ignorant Westerners (which could not be further from the truth). However, this is mainly to address this and to answer your question, and is not intended to try and change anyone's existing opinion or impression of the series as much as it's me trying to explain (from my own personal reading of the situation) what practically went down with critical reception in real life; no more, no less.
The short summary of the matter is:
The series was a moderate financial success (albeit with some caveats; see the long version for details) and definitely outstripped a lot of prior attempts to revive the franchise;
However, the overall Japanese fanbase-side critical backlash from tri. was extremely and viciously negative to the point where even acknowledging the series too much could easily result in controversy;
Kizuna’s production and the PR surrounding it very obviously have this in mind with a lot of apparent “damage control” elements.
The long version is below.
Note that while I try to be diligent about citing my sources so people understand that I’m not just making things up wholesale, I’m deliberately refraining from linking certain things here this time, both because some of the things mentioned have some pretty crude things written there -- it’s not something I feel comfortable directing people to regardless of what language it’s in -- and because I don’t want to recklessly link things on social media and cause anyone to go after or harass the people involved. For the links that have been provided, please still be warned that some of them don’t really link to particularly pleasant things.
I am not writing the following information to suggest that anyone should agree or disagree with the sentiments being described. I know people tend to take "a lot of people like/hate this" as a signal of implication "it is correct to like/hate this" when it's not (and I especially dislike the idea of implying that Japanese fanbase opinions are the only correct ones). There's a reason I focus on "critical reception being this way" (because it influences marketing decisions and future direction) rather than how much this should impact one's personal feelings; this is coming from myself as someone who is shamelessly proud of liking many things that had bad critical reception, were financial failures, or are disliked by many. As I point out near the end, the situation also does seem to be changing for the better in more recent years as well.
Also, to be clear, I'm a single person who's observing everything best I can from my end, I have no affiliations with staff nor do I claim to, and as much as I'm capable of reading Japanese and thus reading a lot of people's impressions, I'm ultimately still another “outsider” looking in. These are my impressions from my observation of fan communal spaces, following artists and reading comments on social media and art posting websites, and results from social media searches. In the end, I know as much as anyone else about what happened, so this is just my two cents based on all of my personal observations.
A fanbase is a fanbase regardless of what part of the world you're from. There are people who love it and are shameless about saying so. There are people who have mixed feelings or at least aren't on extreme ends of the spectrum (as always, the loudest ones are always the most visible, but it's not always easy to claim they're the predominant percentage of the fanbase). That happens everywhere, and I still find that on every end I've seen. However, if I'm talking about my impressions and everything I’ve encountered, I will say that the overall Japanese reaction to tri. comes off as significantly more violently negative on average than the Western one, which is unusual because often it's the other way around. (I personally feel less so because the opinions are that fundamentally different and more so because we're honestly kind of loud and in-your-face people; otherwise, humans are mostly the same everywhere, and more often than not people feel roughly the same about everything if they’re given the same information to work with.)
This is not something I can say lightly, and thus would not say if I didn’t really get this impression, but...we're talking "casually looking up movie reviews for Kizuna have an overwhelming amount of people casually citing any acknowledgment of tri. elements as a negative element", or the fact that even communal wikis for "general" fandoms like Pixiv and Aniwota don't tend to hold back in being vicious about it (as of this writing, Pixiv's wiki refuses to consider it in the same timeline as Adventure, accusing it of being "a series that claims to be a sequel set three years after 02 but is in fact something different"). Again, there are people who openly enjoy it and actively advocate for it (and Pixiv even warns people to not lord over others about it condescendingly because of the fact that such people do exist), and this is also more of a reflection of “the hardcore fanbase on the Internet” and not necessarily the mainstream (after all, there are quite a few other Digimon works where the critical reception varies very heavily between the two). Nevertheless, the take-home is that the reputation is overall negative among the Internet fanbase to the point that this is the kind of sentiment you run into without trying all that hard.
I think, generally speaking, if we're just talking about why a lot of people resent the series, the reasons aren't that different from those on the Western side. However, that issue of "dark history" (黒歴史): there's a certain degree of demand from the more violently negative side of the fanbase that's, in a sense, asking official to treat it as a disgrace and never acknowledge it ever again, hence why Kizuna doing so much as borrowing things from it rather than rejecting it outright is still sometimes treated like it’s committing a sin. So it's somewhat close in spirit to a retcon movement, which is unusual because no other Digimon series gets this (not even 02; that was definitely a thing on the Western end, but while I'm sure there are people who hate it that much on their end too, I've never really seen it gain enough momentum for anyone to take it seriously). If anyone ever tells you that Japanese fanbases are nice to everything, either they don't know Japanese, are being willfully ignorant, or are lying to you, because there is such thing as drama in those areas, and in my experience, I've seen things get really nasty when things are sufficiently pushed over the edge, and if a fanbase wants to have drama, it will have drama. This happens to be one of those times.
(If you think this is extreme, please know that I also think so too, so I hope you really understand that me describing this sentiment does not mean I am personally endorsing it. Also, let me reiterate that the loudest section of the fanbase is not necessarily the predominant one; after all, as someone who’s been watching reactions to 02 over the years, I myself can attest that its hatedom has historically made it sound more despised than it actually is in practice.)
My impression is that the primary core sentiment behind why the series so much as existing and being validated is considered such an offense (rather than, say, just saying "wow, that writing was bad" and moving on) is heavily tied to the release circumstances the series came out in during 2015-2018, and the idea that "this series disrespected Adventure, and also disrespected the fanbase.” (I mean, really, regardless of what part of the world you’re from, sequels and adaptations tend to be held to a higher bar of expectation than standalone works, because they’re expected to do them justice.) A list of complaints I’ve come across a lot while reading through the above:
The Japanese fanbase is pretty good at recordkeeping when it comes to Adventure universe lore, partially because they got a lot of extra materials that weren’t localized, but also partially because adherence to it seems to generally be more Serious Business to them than it is elsewhere. For instance, “according to Adventure episode 45, ‘the one who wishes for stability’ (Homeostasis) only started choosing children in 1995, and therefore there can be no Chosen Children before 1995” is taken with such gravity that this, not anything to do with evolutions or timeline issues, is the main reason Hurricane Touchdown’s canonicity was disputed in that arena (because Wallace implies that he met his partners before 1995). It’s a huge reason the question of Kizuna also potentially not complying to lore came to the forefront, because tri. so flagrantly contradicts it so much that this issue became very high on the evaluation checklist. In practice, Kizuna actually goes against Adventure/02 very little, so the reason tri. in particular comes under fire for this is that it does it so blatantly there were theories as early as Part 1 that this series must take place in a parallel universe or something, and as soon as it became clear it didn’t, the resulting sentiment was “wow, you seriously thought nobody would notice?” (thus “disrespecting the audience”).
A lot of the characterization incongruity is extremely obvious when you’re following only the Japanese version, partially because it didn’t have certain localization-induced characterization changes (you are significantly less likely to notice a disparity with Mimi if you’re working off the American English dub where they actually did make her likely to step on others’ toes and be condescending, whereas in Japanese the disparity is jarring and hard to miss) and partially due to some things lost in translation (Mimi improperly using rough language on elders is much easier to spot as incongruity if you’re familiar with the language). Because it’s so difficult to miss, and honestly feels like a lot of strange writing decisions you’d make only if you really had no concept of what on earth happened in the original series, it only contributes to the idea that they were handling Adventure carelessly and disrespectfully without paying attention to what the series was even about (that, or worse, they didn’t care).
02 is generally well-liked there! It’s controversial no matter where you go, but as I said earlier, there was no way a retcon movement would have ever been taken seriously, and the predominant sentiment is that, even if you’re not a huge fan of it, its place in canon (even the epilogue) should be respected. So not only flagrantly going against 02-introduced lore but also doing that to a certain quartet is seen as malicious, and you don’t have as much of the converse discourse celebrating murdering the 02 quartet (yeah, that’s a thing that happened here) or accusing people with complaints of “just being salty because they like 02″ as nearly as much of a factor; I did see it happen, or at least dismissals akin to “well it’s Adventure targeted anyway,” but they were much less frequent. The issue with the 02 quartet is usually the first major one brought up, and there’s a lot of complaints even among those who don’t care for 02 as much that the way they went about it was inhumane and hypocritical, especially when killing Imperialdramon is fine but killing Meicoomon is a sin. Also, again, “you seriously think nobody will see a problem with how this doesn’t make sense?”
I think even those who are fans of the series generally agree with this, but part of the reason the actual real-life time this series went on is an important factor is that the PR campaign for this series was godawful. Nine months of clicking on an egg on a website pretending like audience participation meant something when in actuality it was blatantly obvious it was just a smokescreen to reveal info whenever they were ready? This resulted in a chain effect where even more innocuous/defensible things were viewed in a suspicious or negative light (for instance, "the scam of selling the fake Kaiser's goggles knowing Ken fans would buy it only to reveal that it's not him anyway"), and a bunch of progressively out-of-touch-with-the-fanbase statements and poor choices led to more sentiment “yeah, you’re just insulting the fanbase at this point,” and a general erosion of trust in official overall.
On top of that, the choice of release format to have it spread out as six movies over three years seems to have exacerbated the backlash to get much worse than it would have been otherwise, especially since one of the major grievances with the series is that how it basically strung people along, building up more and more unanswered questions before it became apparent it was never going to answer them anyway. So when you’re getting that frustrated feeling over three whole years, it feels like three years of prolonged torture, and it becomes much harder to forgive for the fallout than if you’d just marathoned the entire thing at once.
For those who are really into the Digimon (i.e. species) lore and null canon, while I’m not particularly well-versed in that side of the fanbase, it seems tri. fell afoul of themtoo for having inaccurately portrayed (at one point, mislabeled) special attacks and poorly done battle choreography, along with the treatment of Digimon in general (infantilized Digimon characterization, general lack of Digimon characters in general, very flippant treatment of the Digital World in Parts 3-5). If you say you’re going to “reboot” the Digital World and not address the entire can of worms that comes with basically damaging an entire civilization of Digimon, as you can imagine, a lot of people who actually really care about that are going to be pissed, and the emerging sentiment is “you’re billing this as a Digimon work, but you don’t even care about the monsters that make up this franchise.”
The director does not have a very positive reputation among those who know his work (beyond just Digimon), and in general there was a lot of suspicion around the fact they decided to get a guy whose career has primarily been built on harem and fanservice anime to direct a sequel to a children’s series. Add to that a ton of increasingly unnerving statements about how he intended to make the series “mature” in comparison to its predecessor (basically, an implication that Adventure and 02 were happy happy joy series where nothing bad ever happened) and descriptions of Adventure that implied a very, very poor grasp of anything that happened in it: inaccurate descriptions of their characters, poor awareness of 02′s place in the narrative, outright saying in Febri that he saw the Digimon as like perpetual kindergartners even after evolving, and generally such a flippant attitude that it drove home the idea that the director of an Adventure sequel had no respect for Adventure, made this series just to maliciously dunk on it for supposedly being immature, and has such a poor grasp of what it even was that it’s possible he may not have seen it in the first place (or if he did, clearly skimmed it to the extent he understood it poorly to pretty disturbing levels). As of this writing, Aniwota Wiki directly cites him as a major reason for the backlash.
In general, consensus seems to be that the most positively received aspect of the series (story-wise) was Part 3 (mostly its ending, but some are more amenable to the Takeru and Patamon drama), and the worst vitriol goes towards Parts 2 (for the blatantly contradictory portrayal of Mimi and Jou and the hypocritical killing of Imperialdramon) and 4 (basically the “point of no return” where even more optimistic people started getting really turned off). This is also what I suspect is behind the numbers on the infamous DigiPoll (although the percentage difference is admittedly low enough to fall within margin of error). However, there was suspicion about the series even from Part 1, with one prominent fanartist openly stating that it felt more like meeting a ton of new people than it did reuniting with anyone they knew.
So with all of that on the table: how did this affect official? The thing is that when I say “violently negative”, I mean that also entailed spamming official with said violently negative social media comments. While this is speculation, I am fairly certain that official must have realized how bad this was getting as early as between Parts 4 and 5, because that’s where a lot of really suspicious things started happening behind the scenes; while I imagine the anime series itself was now too far in to really do anything about it, one of the most visible producers suddenly vanished from the producer lineup and was replaced by Kinoshita Yousuke, who ended up being the only member of tri. staff shared with Kizuna (and, in general, the fact that not a single member of staff otherwise was retained kind of says a lot). Once the series ended in 2018 and the franchise slowly moved into Kizuna-related things, you might notice that tri.-branded merch production almost entirely screeched to a halt and official has been very touchy about acknowledging it too deeply; it’s not that they don’t, but it’s kind of an awfully low amount for what you’d think would be warranted for a series that’s supposed to be a full entry in the big-name Adventure brand.
The reason is, simply, that if they do acknowledge it too much, people will get pissed at them. That’s presumably why the tri. stage play (made during that interim period between Parts 4 and 5 and even branded with the title itself) and Kizuna are really hesitant to be too aggressive about tri. references; it’s not necessarily that official wants to blot it out of history like the most extreme opinions would like them to, but even being too enthusiastic about affirming it will also get them backlash, especially if the things they affirm are contradictory to Adventure or 02. And considering even the small references they did put in still got them criticism for “affirming” tri. too much, you can easily see that the backlash would have been much harder if they’d attempted more than that; staying as close as possible to Adventure and 02 and trying to deal with tri. elements only when they’re comparatively inoffensive was pretty much the “safe” thing to do in this scenario (especially since fully denying tri. would most certainly upset the people who did like the series, and if you have to ask me, I personally think this would have been a pretty crude thing to have done right after the series had just finished). Even interviews taken after the fact often involve quickly disclaiming involvement with the series, or, if they have to bring up something about it, discussing the less controversial aspects like the art (while the character designs were still controversial, it’s at least at the point where some fanartists will still be willing to make use of them even if they dislike the series, albeit often with prominent disclaimers) or the more well-received parts of Part 3; Kizuna was very conspicuously marketed as a standalone movie, even if it shared the point of “the Adventure kids, but older” that tri. had.
(Incidentally, the tri. stage play has generally been met with a good reputation and was received well even among people who were upset with the anime, so it was well-understood that they had no relation. In fact, said stage play is probably even better received than Kizuna, although that’s not too surprising given the controversial territory Kizuna goes into, making the stage play feel very play-it-safe in comparison.)
So, if we’re going to talk about Kizuna in particular: tri. was, to some degree, a moderate financial success, in the sense that it made quite a bit of money and did a lot to raise awareness of the Digimon brand still continuing...however, if you actually look at the sales figures for tri., they go down every movie; part of it was probably because of the progressively higher “hurdle” to get into a series midway, but consider that Gundam Unicorn (a movie series which tri.’s format was often compared to) had its sales go up per movie thanks to word of mouth and hype. So while tri. does seem to have gotten enough money to help sustain the franchise at first, the trade-off was an extremely livid fanbase that had shattered faith in the brand and in official, and so while continuing the Adventure brand might still be profitable, there was no way they were going to get away with continuing to do this lest everything eventually crash and burn.
Hence, if you look at the way Kizuna was produced and advertised, you can see a lot of it is blatantly geared at addressing a lot of the woes aimed at tri.: instead of the staff that had virtually no affiliation with Toei, the main members of staff announced were either from the original series (Seki and Yamatoya) or openly childhood fans, the 02 quartet was made into a huge advertising point as a dramatic DigiFes reveal (and character profies that tie into the 02 epilogue careers prominently part of the advertising from day one), and they even seemed to acknowledge the burnout on the original Adventure group by advertising it so heavily as “the last adventure of Taichi and his friends”, so you can see that there’s a huge sentiment of “damage control” with it. How successful that was...is debatable, since opinions have been all over the board; quite a few people were naturally so livid at what happened with tri. that Kizuna was just opening more of the wound, but there were also people who liked it much better and were willing to acknowledge it (with varying levels of enthusiasm, some simply saying “it was thankfully okay,” and some outright loving it), and there was a general sentiment even among those who disliked both that they at least understood what Kizuna was going for and that it didn’t feel as inherently disrespectful. (Of course, there are people who loved tri. and hated Kizuna, and there are people who loved both, too.)
Moreover, Kizuna actually has a slightly different target audience from tri.; there’s a pretty big difference between an OVA and a theatrical movie, and, quite simply, Kizuna was made under the assumption that a lot of people watching it may not have even seen tri. in the first place. An average of 11% of the country watched Adventure and 02, but the number of people who watched tri. is much smaller, in part due to the fact that its “theater” screenings were only very limited screenings compared to Kizuna being shown in theaters in Japan and worldwide, and in part due to the fact that watching six parts over three years is a pretty huge commitment for someone who may barely remember Digimon as anything beyond a show they watched as a kid, and may be liable to just fall off partway through because they simply just forgot. (Which also probably wasn’t helped by the infamously negative reputation, something that definitely wouldn’t encourage someone already on the fence.) And that’s yet another reason Kizuna couldn’t make too many concrete tri. references; being a theatrical movie, it needs to have as wide appeal as possible, and couldn’t risk locking out an audience that had a very high likelihood of not having seen it, much less to the end -- it may have somewhat been informed by tri.’s moderate financial success and precedent, but it ultimately was made for the original Adventure and 02 audience more than anything else.
I would say that, generally, while Kizuna is “controversial” for sure, reception towards the movie seems to be more positive than negative, it won over a large chunk of people who were burned out by tri., and it clearly seems to have been received well enough that it’s still being cashed in on a year after its release. The sheer existence of the upcoming 02-based movie is also probably a sign of Kizuna’s financial and critical success; Kinoshita confirmed at DigiFes 2020 that nothing was in production at the time, and stated shortly after the movie’s announcement that work on it had just started. So the decision to make it seems to have been made after eyeing Kizuna’s reception, and, moreover, the movie was initially advertised from the get-go with Kizuna’s director and writer (Taguchi and Yamatoya), meaning those two have curried enough goodwill from the fanbase that this can be used to promote the movie. (If not, you would think that having and advertising Seki would be the bigger priority.) While this is my own sentiment, I am personally doubtful official would have even considered 02 something remotely profitable enough on its own to cash in on if it weren’t for this entire sequence of events of 02′s snubbing in tri. revealing how much of a fanbase it had (especially with the sheer degree of “suspicious overcompensation” Kizuna had with its copious use of the 02 quartet and it tagging a remix of the first 02 ED on the Hanareteitemo single, followed by the drama CD and character songs), followed by Kizuna having success in advertising with them so heavily. Given all of the events between 2015 and now, it’s a bit ironic to see that 02 has now become basically the last resort to be able to continue anything in the original Adventure universe without getting too many people upset at them about it.
The bright side coming out of all of this is that, while it’s still a bit early to tell, now that we’re three years out from tri. finishing up and with Kizuna in the game, it seems there’s a possibility for things improving around tri.’s reception as well. Since a lot of the worst heated points of backlash against it have a very “you had to have been there” element (related to the PR, release schedule, and staff comments), those coming in “late” don’t have as much reason to be as pissed at it; I’ve seen at least one case of a fanartist getting back into the franchise because of Kizuna hype, watching tri. to catch up, casually criticizing it on Twitter, and moving on with their life, presumably because marathoning the whole thing being generally aware of what’ll happen in it and knowing Kizuna is coming after anyway gives you a lot less reason to be angry to the point of holding an outright grudge. Basically, even if you don’t like it, it’s much easier to actually go “yeah, didn’t like that,” not worry too much about it, and move on. Likewise, I personally get the impression that official has been starting to get a little more confident about digging up elements related to it. Unfortunately, a fairly recent tweet promoting the series getting put on streaming services still got quite a few angry comments implying that they should be deleting the scourge from the Internet instead, so there’s still a long way to go, but hopefully the following years will see things improve further...
In regards to the reboot, I -- and I think a lot of people will agree with me -- have a bit of a hard time reading what exact audience it’s trying to appeal to; we have a few hints from official that they want parents to watch it with their children, and that it may have been a necessary ploy in order to secure their original timeslot. So basically, the Adventure branding gets parents who grew up with the original series to be interested in it and to show it to their kids, and convinces Fuji TV that it might be profitable. But as most people have figured by now, the series has a completely different philosophy and writing style -- I mean, the interview itself functionally admits it’s here to be more action-oriented and to have its own identity -- and the target audience is more the kids than anything else. As for the Internet fanbase of veterans, most people have been critical of its character writing and pacing, but other than a few stragglers who are still really pissed, it hasn’t attracted all that much vitriol, probably because in the end it’s an alternate universe, it doesn’t have any obligation to adhere to anything from the original even if it uses the branding, and it’s clearly still doing its job of being a kids’ show for kids who never saw the original series nor 02, so an attempt to call it “disrespectful” to the original doesn’t have much to stand on. A good number of people who are bored of it decided it wasn’t interesting to them and dropped it without incident, while other people are generally just enjoying it for being fun, and the huge amount of Digimon franchise fanservice with underrepresented Digimon and high fidelity to null canon lore is really pleasing the side of the fanbase that’s into that (I mean, Digimon World Golemon is really deep in), so at the very least, there’s not a lot to be super-upset about.

Spilled Pearls
- Chapter 2 - ao3 -
Lan Qiren did some research on the rules about obeying one’s elders even when they made stupid arbitrary decisions that they didn’t explain – his brother had only said that Lan Qiren was not to spend time alone with Wen Ruohan and that Wen Ruohan was a petty person, but had indicated nothing else to explain the reason for the rule, though perhaps Lan Qiren was missing some unspoken assumption again – but sadly his research proved inconclusive on the matter. He was forced to conclude that it was better to err in favor of obedience.
Still, he felt resentful that he obeyed Don’t disrespect your elders while his brother seemed to feel free to ignore Don’t disrespect your juniors. That was the way of things, of course, and of course given the age difference between them – he was a child, his brother an adult, with nearly a ten year gap between them – the exhortation was magnified. Lan Qiren should be obedient and respectful, filial, and yet he couldn’t quite manage not to feel upset about the disparity, even though he knew he should accept the rules with equanimity and grace.
That wasn’t exactly a rule, or at least it wasn’t a written rule, but Lan Qiren had heard it often enough that he understood it to be an unspoken rule. He wasn’t that good at obeying those, even when he tried.
And of course, there were some written rules he had trouble with, too…
“Hello there.”
Lan Qiren looked up from where he was contemplating the prescribed punishment for breaking Do not be picky with food and whether it was preferable to forcing himself to consume the overcooked mushy greens currently sitting in his bowl.
“Sect Leader Wen,” he said blankly, then remembered Do not sit when an elder stands and attempted to scramble into a standing position, only to remember Do not stand incorrectly and inexpertly tried to force himself into the proper form when he was already halfway up.
Wen Ruohan caught him by both shoulders before he could fall over his own feet and helped straighten him out. “You’re a little clumsy, aren’t you?” he said with a strange smile, and Lan Qiren automatically bowed his head in acknowledgement of his error. “It’s not a physical thing, though; you’re quite graceful. Just too caught in your own head, is it?”
That was exactly it.
Lan Qiren smiled thankfully up at Wen Ruohan, who seemed a little surprised for some reason, but who released his shoulders and allowed Lan Qiren to salute properly. He didn’t stop the bow the way one of the other sect leaders might – Lao Nie, for instance, barely let anyone complete a full salute without pulling them back up, to the point that Lan Qiren sometimes wondered if he would prefer to do away with the gesture entirely – but by the time Lan Qiren had straightened up, he had a thoughtful expression.
“Is there something I can help you with?” Lan Qiren inquired. There was a rule against speaking during mealtimes, but it was one of the lesser rules. The rules of hospitality took precedence, and the Lan sect was hosting this particular night-hunt, even if the small town they were all staying in wasn’t the Cloud Recesses itself.
He was prepared to be sent away on some task – looking forward to it, even, since it meant he wouldn’t have to eat the mush – but instead Wen Ruohan shook his head.
“I could use some company,” he said, and flicked his sleeve, sitting down in the seat across from Lan Qiren. Vacant, of course, since Lan Qiren had settled himself into one of the more distant corners of the inn in an attempt to avoid his brother’s notice, and of course he was also by far the youngest person on this night-hunt, making for very unappealing company to everyone else. “Sit and finish your dinner.”
Lan Qiren sank back down a little reluctantly. The greens remained as unappetizing as before.
Wen Ruohan noticed the direction of his gaze, and the untouched dinner. “Practicing inedia?”
“I’m too young,” Lan Qiren said, which was true. Inedia at his age could stunt his growth.
“Not to your taste, then?”
Lan Qiren shook his head, but reached out and picked up his chopsticks anyway.
“If you don’t like it, why not ask for something else?” Wen Ruohan asked.
“Do not be picky with food,” Lan Qiren recited, glum, and put a bite into his mouth. It was revolting, sticky and glue-like, and he gagged, wanting to spit it out. That would be even more rude, though, so he forced himself to chew and then eventually to swallow.
It took all of his attention to do, and he was almost surprised when he opened his eyes – he’d closed them at some point, probably in order to help summon the willpower required to perform the task – and saw Wen Ruohan staring straight at him, his expression unfathomable.
“Your eyes are red,” he said.
Lan Qiren stared at him. “No? They’re light brown. Yours are red.”
Wen Ruohan’s lips curved up a little. “I didn’t mean the iris,” he clarified. “The sclera. Your eyes filled with tears, aggravating the blood flowing through them, and as a result the rims of your eyes became reddened.”
“Oh,” Lan Qiren said. He wasn’t entirely sure what to do with that observation, or if he was supposed to respond in some way. Apologize, maybe? But it was a physiological reaction…
Maybe Sect Leader Wen was just a little strange, he decided. But he obviously couldn’t comment on that, given that his brother was always saying that he, too, was more than a little strange –
His brother.
“Oh, no,” Lan Qiren said, chewing on his lip in anxiety, and Sect Leader Wen looked at him in silent question. “I should go.”
“Go? Why?”
Do not tell lies. “My brother said I shouldn’t spend time alone with you.”
Wen Ruohan laughed.
Lan Qiren stared at him, off balance. That wasn’t normally how people responded to him being rude, and he wasn’t stupid – he knew it was rude of him to say that. Rude of his brother to order it, really, but ruder of him to actually say it, even if he wasn’t supposed to lie. He’d never quite worked out where the one rule ended and the other one began; it was a recurring issue.
“Qingheng-jun is wise in identifying the issue and its solution,” Wen Ruohan remarked, seeming unruffled. “But rather foolish in his ham-handed attempts to implement that solution.”
Lan Qiren didn’t understand.
“You don’t need to be concerned, little Lan,” Wen Ruohan said, and he was smiling at him. “Sharing a meal with me won’t mean that you’re disobeying your brother. After all, we’re not really alone, are we?”
Lan Qiren’s eyes flickered around them, and he had to admit that that was true. While the corner he’d chosen was moderately secluded, it was still part of the main dining room, not even hidden by a screen or anything – he could directly see where his brother was sitting around a table with Lao Nie and Jin Guangshan and some of the others, playing some sort of game, and presumably, if his brother wished, he could look at him in return.
“Sect Leader Wen is correct,” he concluded. “The prohibition was against spending time alone with you. We are not alone, and therefore the prohibition does not apply. Forgive my rudeness.”
“Think nothing of it,” Wen Ruohan said, looking pleased. “Such an interesting child you are.”
Lan Qiren looked at him suspiciously, since he didn’t think that was true.
“Shouldn’t you be with the other sect leaders?” he asked, dropping his gaze to his chopsticks. He had taken one bite, but that wasn’t eating; he would need to take another. But it was so awfully mushy…
“I prefer games of strategy to games of chance,” Wen Ruohan said. “Meet my eyes.”
Lan Qiren looked at him.
“Very good,” Wen Ruohan said, and Lan Qiren shifted uncomfortably at the praise. “You don’t hear that often, do you?”
Lan Qiren bristled. “I excel at my studies, and at music. My teachers have never had any cause for complaint.”
“With your devotion to following rules, I would imagine they wouldn’t. Music, hmm? Music and philosophy, I’d wager. Is that how you managed to cultivate such a bright golden core?”
Lan Qiren resisted the urge to put his hand over his belly. His core had only very recently formed, at just the appropriate age – nothing like his prodigy brother who had reached core formation before the age of ten – and he was painfully aware that he was likely never to reach anywhere near his brother’s potential, particularly given the differences in their capacity for swordsmanship.
He’d never heard that his core was unusually bright before, though.
“You won’t be able to remain so untainted by worldly affairs for long, little Lan,” Wen Ruohan said. “Not as a son of a Great Sect.”
“I’m going to be a traveling musician when I’m older,” Lan Qiren told him. “People won’t need to know that I’m from a Great Sect then.”
Another chuckle, and Wen Ruohan reached out and tapped Lan Qiren’s forehead ribbon right in the center of his forehead, ignoring how Lan Qiren recoiled, eyes wide. “People will always know, little Lan, as long as you have this.”
“Fine, then let people know,” Lan Qiren said, trying to maintain his dignity. “What does it matter, as long as I can help them?”
Wen Ruohan’s smile widened. “Help people? You can’t even help yourself. Or are the bruises on your wrist from a door you bumped into?”
Bruises?
Lan Qiren looked down at his wrists, pulling back his sleeves, and, yes, one wrist was still red from where his brother had tugged him along in his wake earlier, the flesh hot and a little swollen when he pressed his fingers against it. He watched, a little fascinated, as the white imprints of his fingerprints faded back into the red, and then remembered he was among company and pulled his sleeve over his wrist again.
“It’s only swollen,” he said, remembering to meet Wen Ruohan’s eyes as he looked up. “Not bruised.”
Not yet, anyway.
Wen Ruohan’s gaze felt heavy again. It was intent and almost penetrating, uncomfortable and weighted, almost as if he could change the air pressure around Lan Qiren simply with his eyes.
“Didn’t you notice it earlier?” he asked.
Lan Qiren shook his head. “The doctor says I have reduced long-term awareness of pain,” he admitted. “Bruises, cuts…once the initial pain has passed, I adjust to it and forget about it.”
“Interesting. And yet, judging from how you sought to protect yourself from the fall earlier, you still fear pain.”
Lan Qiren grimaced. “It’s only in the long term that I don’t notice it. In the short term, my sensitivity to discomfort is heightened.”
“I see. That explains why you cry when you have to eat food you don’t like.”
“I didn’t cry,” Lan Qiren insisted. He was still looking into Wen Ruohan’s eyes – maybe because Wen Ruohan was looking so deeply into his own, his gaze fixed and unblinking, but it didn’t feel quite as unpleasant as it sometimes did with other people. Just intense. “I don’t cry over things like that anymore.”
It was just a physiological reaction to gagging, he wanted to say, but for some reason didn’t. The words felt sticky in his throat, like syrup – even his thoughts seemed a little slow, as if they had to wade through the mud before actually forming. It was almost a little calming, really; normally his thoughts felt like they were whizzing by too fast to catch, like streaks of lightning caught in his skull.
“It hurt when your brother grabbed you like that, didn’t it,” Wen Ruohan said. His voice was deep, and his eyes were very red. “More than it would hurt other people. It hurt a lot.”
Lan Qiren nodded.
“You didn’t like that. It made you feel angry. Resentful.”
It did.
“Maybe you should do something about it. How about that? Maybe he wouldn’t do it again if only you showed him how much you don’t like it when he treats you that way.”
That had never worked before…
“You just didn’t try hard enough before. You didn’t get his attention. Why don’t you go show him now? He’s sitting right there with all the other sect leaders. Just go and push him down to the floor when he’s not expecting it. That’ll show him.”
Lan Qiren frowned. “Fighting without permission is forbidden, Sect Leader Wen.”
Wen Ruohan straightened his back suddenly – he’d started leaning forward at some point, bringing their faces closer together; Lan Qiren hadn’t noticed given their steady eye contact. “What?”
“Fighting without permission is forbidden,” Lan Qiren explained, rubbing at his eyes, which suddenly felt overly dry. He’d somehow forgotten to blink for a while. “It’s one of the rules. Plus there’s also Do not sow discord and No improper behavior, which are also really important rules. So even if I want to talk to him, it wouldn’t be appropriate to do it in front of others, would it?”
He shook his head and picked up his chopsticks – he’d put them down at some point without noticing.
“Thank you for your advice and guidance, Sect Leader Wen,” he added, trying to be polite even if he wasn’t being very sincere. He’d tried time and time again to express himself to his brother without success; he’d long ago given it up. “I appreciate your consideration.”
“And I was actually trying that time,” Wen Ruohan remarked, seemingly inexplicably and apropos of nothing, and then for no reason that Lan Qiren could determine, he started chuckling. “You have a very interesting mind, little Lan. Very interesting indeed...and more willpower than one would expect, given your age and position. Perhaps it’s eating all that food you dislike that does it, or maybe it really is those ridiculous rules.”
Lan Qiren frowned at him. The rules weren’t ridiculous. They were important! How else was he supposed to know how to deal with people - how was anyone supposed to know how to deal with people - without the rules to serve as guidance?
He was about to say so, too, when a waiter abruptly came to their table and put down a dish of freshly grilled yams. Lan Qiren hadn’t even realized they had yams available at this inn, or even a proper charcoal grill to use to cook them; it hadn’t been offered, and no other table had them – if he’d known, he would have asked for them much earlier.
“Consider it a gift,” Wen Ruohan said with a faint smirk, waiving the waiter away. He must have ordered the dish at some point when Lan Qiren wasn’t paying attention. “Something you might find a little more palatable than those greens.”
“Thank you, Sect Leader Wen!” This time, Lan Qiren was wholly sincere, and even enthusiastic.
Especially because, since it was a gift, he didn’t have to restrain himself in terms of scarfing down the food. The yams were delicious.
“Such enthusiasm,” Wen Ruohan remarked, clearly amused, but Lan Qiren didn’t object; he was enthusiastic. “I’ll leave you to your meal, little Lan. I wouldn’t want to get you into trouble with your elder brother.”
Lan Qiren nodded, distracted by the food; it was by far better than anything he’d had in the past few days. “I don’t know why he said I had to stay away from you,” he said, meaning it as an apology.
“Oh, I think it’s probably based on one of your rules,” Wen Ruohan said, standing up. He had that strange smile again. “Isn’t there one that goes ‘stay away from bad men’?”
He left before Lan Qiren could correct him – it was do not associate with evil.

“I said,” Jungkook growled in a deep voice, his eyes piercing yours as he sat straddling your hips, your hands bound and forced above your head as he leaned in, “Who do you belong too?”
You swallowed thickly, a short laugh escaping your lips before you raised your brows challengingly, “I don’t know,” you lifted your head as best you could while snidely replying, “Why don’t you show me?”
His hand was immediately at your throat squeezing harshly as a small moan escaped you, a wicked smile tugging on his lips as if he was delighted by your words, his cock heavy and bobbing for friction as he answered, “Gladly.” You let out a whine at suddenly being rolled over, wiggling in your restraints only to be reminded you were left to Jungkook’s mercy.
Grabbing your hips he lifted them before he landed a harsh blow against your ass making you jump with a cry as he snapped, “Say it.” He didn’t even wait for a response before he landed two more blows against your soft ass cheeks.
Squirming you tried backing your hips into his, your cunt clenching around nothing in need as you gritted your teeth stubbornly, “Is that the hardest you can hit?” You mocked, “Maybe I should’ve got Hoseok in here, beat he can- Ow!” You whimpered as your body jostled forward, his hand spanking so harshly against your ass you were sure it would leave a mark, your eyes beginning to water only for Jungkook to purposely land another blow on the sensitive skin.
Your body was squirming as you sniffles, you could hear Jungkook clack his tongue, his chest flushed with your back as he growled a whisper into your ear, “Are you done provoking me? I can keep spanking this bratty little ass all day. Is that what you want princess? Me spanking such a pretty ass?” His voice dripped with sickly sweet condescension, his large inked fingers tenderly rubbing the sensitive skin.
His hand harshly spanking the under side of your ass just to watch the way your legs pathetically scrambled, “What? You can’t take a little banter? I thought you were a big boy who could take it.” You gritted your teeth, sniffling as a fat tear dripped down your cheeks, you let out a choked laugh as you mumbled against the bed trying to hide your smile, “You’re a fucking joke if you think you’re gonna get me to do anything with that tiny little pencil dick.”
You could feel his hands tighten around your waist before letting you go only for you to squeak at the thick heavy cock that slapped against your cunt, “What?” Jungkook mocked back, “You mean this tiny dick?” Jungkook began fluidly moving his hips letting his cock rut against the slick of your cunt. A whine escaping you at the feeling of his shaft rubbing over your sensitive clit that had yet to be played with.
Jungkook let his lips tug into a smirk at the sound of your needy whine, your hips frantically trying to rub against his cock for more friction, grabbing his base he kept it still to let your hips rub against him, his fat head rubbing into your clit as he groaned, closing his eyes briefly as he let his dominant persona break for a moment, “Fuck you’re so hot.” His tip was leaking precum and was throbbing against your clit as your hips grinded against him in need, soft moans escaping you at the pleasure throbbing in your body, you were so needy.
Just having his fat cock head rubbing against your sensitive bud had your body withering and excited to the point of nearly making yourself cum. As if sensing this Jungkook immediately pulled his cock away as you let out an objected noise, “What? I thought you didn’t need my pencil dick?” Jungkook growled, his hand curling around your body to find your cunt while letting his chest stay flushed with your back, “I think it’s funny how you want to fucking disrespect the only source of pleasure you will ever get.”
Jungkook let out a moan, his cock throbbing in need at the way you tried to muffle your moans and your body squirming and hips pathetically rutting into his hand when his fingers grazed over your clit, “That’s it baby,” Jungkook let out a purr, letting his fingers play and rub along the needy swollen bud, “See what you could’ve have if you had just been a good girl?” He mocked sweetly, letting his thumb massage into the little bud while letting a single inked digit sink into your cunt.
You had been reduced to a drooling mess, too focused on what his fingers were doing to try and be bratty anymore. Letting out a small whine you let your hips still for him to fully let the pleasure take over. God he was so skilled, his thumb carefully rubbing right into your sweet spot that had your back arching for him and he his fingers were so long. Jungkook easily pushed another inside you as you whined your walls clenching in excitement as he slow but rhythmically pumped them in and out of you.
“Fuuck baby you’re so tight,” Jungkook wasn’t sure how much longer he could coax you into obedience when his cock was throbbing this hard, he needed to be inside you and soon, “What happened to your words huh? What happened to being such a bratty little bitch?” He let out a breathy laugh at the way your cunt clenched at his words, letting his fingers curl into that deliciously sponging spot that had you whimpering against the sheets, “Is it because I’m finally playing with this needy little pussy?” Jungkook feigned a hum in thought.
His thumb beginning to rub harsher into your clit as you whined, his fingers rapidly hitting into your g-spot and he could tell by the way you hips trembled and struggled to stay still you were close, “Is that why you’ve been such a bratty ungrateful whore tonight?” He growled against your ear as he pounded his fingers inside you, your walls rapidly clenching around him as he snidely remarked, “Find it funny how you can’t say a word when this cunt is all filled up.”
Your hips unable to stay still anymore as you began fucking yourself, your need to cum making you cry with a whine, “Please...!” Your mind was racing and frantic at your body’s need to cum, pleasure was blooming so intensely with his thumb stroking your clit and his fingers hitting all the right spots inside you, “Please!”
“That’s all you can say?” Jungkook snapped, his fingers immediately pounded into you as you cried out, your body being jostled around and you were so close you could feel it, “Just a pathetic please?” He spat out, “You’ve been such an ungrateful slut all fucking night you don’t deserve to cum. Let me ask one more fucking time.”
Your eyes were nearly rolling to the back of your head and your body was skirting they dangerous line of cumming without permission as Jungkook growled in your ear, “Who do you fucking belong too? I wanna hear you scream it.”
“You! You! I belong to you! Mmph! Jungkook! Please!” You sobbed out, your voice heightening before you screeched again with a frantic sob at his fingers suddenly pulling out of you and the pleasure you do desperately needed gone, “I’m sorry! Please! Jungkook!”
“Oh you’re sorry?” Jungkook snorted as he sat upright, looking down cruelly at your trembling body as you looked over your shoulder with a whimper. His figure was dark and broody and you could tell he wasn’t in a forgiving mood today, a strand of hair had fallen from his makeshift ponytail and the ink slithering up both arms that flexed with muscle, “After giving me such a hard time today? After only apologizing after you were the one receiving pleasure? You’re sorry now?” He growled making you whine as you buried back against the bed.
“Apology not accepted,” Jungkook snapped as his hand smacked against your ass making you jump as you cried ouch, grabbing a thick chunk of hair Jungkook yanked it making you whimper as he snapped, “The only form of apology I accept is in begging.”
Jungkook grabbed your hips, forcefully lifting them up and spreading your legs making you whine with a sniffle, your sticky cunt on display for his eyes as you cried weakly, “Please! Please Sir! I need your big cock so bad. Wan’ it filling me up and pounding into my- my little cunt, please! I need it so much.”
Jungkook was letting his cock run along your wet folds as he moaned softly, “Oh you think my little small dick is so big?” He mocked with a small voice before letting his thick cock smack against your cunt making you whine, “Isn’t it just so small baby?” He grunted as he slapped it against your slippery folds, “So fucking tiny?”
“No! No!” You cried out, body squirming at his fat tip rubbing into your clit as you whined with a mumble, “Your cock is so b-big! Wan’ it forced into my tiny cunt and making me cum and make a big mess all over it- please Sir! Please! I- I need it inside me. Want your cock inside me please!” Your eyes were watering at the way his tip teasingly rubbed against your entrance.
“Oh?” Jungkook choked back a moan, “You’re tiny cunt? Are you sure it’s little baby? Are you sure it can’t handle a massive cock.” Jungkook was biting his lip hard to restrain himself, he was going to finish early he could feel it, he had spent too much time tormenting you but god it felt so good listening to you eat your own words.
You sniffled as you rapidly nodded, “No! It- it’s tiny! Need your cock to split it open. Need you pounding it inside me. Please! Sir!” You squirmed with a loud cry at the way his tip sink inside you. True to your words it didn’t matter how many times you had sex Jungkook would always be a big stretch, the delicious sting of your cunt struggling to adjust to his size you had learned to love.
“Fuuck.” Jungkook let out a long moan, “C’mon baby, you’re gonna have to relax if you want my cock so fucking badly. Mmm shit, always talking shit when you’re so fucking little,” Jungkooks cock was flushed and throbbing in pleasure at being trapped into your tiny walls that struggled to relax to let him properly thrust, “Fuck baby, do you need me to just start thrusting? Making you take my big fat cock?”
Your walls clenched harshly around him as you frantically nodded making him chuckle, his hips immediately slamming into you making you squeal his cock sliding past your tense was as he split you open his shaft rubbing into your g-spot as you moaned, the bed rocking and squeaking into delight as you whimpered moans.
“Fuck princess.” Jungkook moaned, his hands fumbling to untie your restraints before freeing your hands, “I’m not gonna last long baby,” He moaned against your skin, grabbing your body before he jostled you upright making you whine at the change of positions. Your nipples perked at being pressed against the cold wall before Jungkook resumed his thrusting, hair tickled your neck as Jungkook buried into your shoulder, “You always feel so good. Every fucking time.”
His free hand wrapped around your neck making you cry out with a winced moan, your walls clenching around him harshly as he aimed his hips to stroke over you g-spot, “I see that little smile on your lips,” You could feel Jungkook’s lips curl, his hand lazily squeezing on your neck as he moaned, “Cum for me baby, wanna see you make a dick a big wet mess. F-fuck that’s it baby. That’s it.”
Your cheek pressed against the wall as you whimpered and moaned your throat burning pleasantly as his hand squeezed harsher, “Jungkook! Ah!” His thumb managed to run down your body to rub along your clit making you clench with a squeal.
“That’s it princess. There you go.” Jungkook slurred in your ear his cock splitting you open while rutting into you lazily as you squirmed your orgasm built up so fast out of excitement you could hardly register the way it flooded your body.
Your mouth wide open as the most pathetic moans escaped you, liquid spewing from your little hole coating Jungkook’s cock that lazily thrusted inside you as he moaned, “Good girl baby, such a good fuckin’ girl.” Grabbing your hips he forced them to bounce on his cock as he moaned, “Always making a mess on my dick. Fuck.” He sunk your hips all the way down onto his cock as he buried into you neck. Thick hot ropes of cum spurting inside you as he moaned lowly.
The room was only filled with heavy breathing for a minute, his cock nestled inside you half hard before slipping out as he nudged against your neck, noticing immediately your thighs that trembled, “Mm you’re always so good for me baby.” Jungkook’s arms wrapped around your waist carefully peeling you away from the wall to sit down on his lap, your body curling against his as his arms wrapped around you.
His lips were slightly chapped as he pressed them against your neck cooing out softly, “Such a good girl. What’s wrong baby? Was I too rough?” You weren’t usually this quiet post sex and he could tell by your body language something was wrong, rubbing your nose against his neck you let your fingers trail against the ink swirling against his skin.
“Were you really mad about today...?” You mumbled against his warm sticky skin, you hadn’t meant to make him mad the whole day, you just thought it was harmless fun poking at him...
Jungkook’s lips tugged into a frown as he pressed a kiss against your head, “Of course not sweetheart. Annoyed sure, but wasn’t that your goal?” He smiled at seeing the tiny smile on your lips, “But I was never actually mad. Just annoyed enough to take it out on you in bed.” He flipped down laying on top of you as you let out a muffled whine, “I love you so much baby.” He whispered as he pressed another kiss against your neck, “Now stay here I’m gonna go get some cream for that cute little ass.”
“Like I can even stand up.” You muttered, making sure to look up at his laughing figure, your eyes making sure to roam against his sculpted ass cheeks all the way up to his broad muscular shoulders tattoos wrapping around them as you licked your lips while calling out desperately, “What about round two!? My ass can wait!”

open letter to shino
@shino-owo
first off, I'd like to clarify and apologize.
I want to make it clear the reason I'm doing this is not because I have a lot of free time, but because I do actively want to do damage to your psyche. no one asked me to do this, but someone had to humble you. this leads into my apology: I’m sorry. I’m sorry you don’t have any real friends and that you destroy the good things you have going for you. but when I’m friends with someone, it means we ride together, and we die together. and right now, I'd made the decision to ride you into the ground. for a friend.
now comes the real shit.
continuing off that point of friendship don’t ever fucking call me a part of someone’s cohort. that’s fucking disrespectful. we are not a group of intellectuals or academics or whatnots. we are what are commonly referred to as “friends”. this may be a novel concept but being friends means that we simply enjoy each other’s existence. we talk together about things that don’t really matter. we smile together, and laugh. we cry together, and mourn in solidarity. we don’t do things in exchange for one another because we are not people who also happen to have power fantasies about having people under us and to think we deserve people serving our needs. we just have the capacity to love and be loved.
so keep my name out your fucking mouth alongside the rest of the people you know you’ve talked about.
also at the very least. MY PUSSY DOESN’T FUCKING SMELL, YOU SYPHILIS RIDDEN SKANK! I’m quite certain no one has approached you with that stank ass pussy (sap?) but my fucking god. no one’s vagina is supposed to smell like ammonia. I know I just insulted you but I am being so serious you need to get help. Also does your discharge look like cottage cheese? If do, seek help asap, it could genuinely be a serious infection of some kind and it would be a really sad way to go out. personally, I wouldn’t let this slide, and immediately caulk my silt. or go to a doctor, of course.
I have no reason to dm you, and I think that it’s perfectly civil of me to spread libel of you, because it’s true, because it’s not. anyways, I hope you’re fine with getting mass pqrted constantly. it’s not just me, I promise.
okay, I think that’s all I have to say! Have a great weekend!

Hi, So someone by the name of Terrabuils makes builds for sims 4, she then found out someone was leaking her content and decided to up her pricing for her builds (went from $5 to $10 , keep in mind none of the cc is theres) she's also decided to PERMA PAYWALL her posts! It's super annoying that shes done this and no one has called her out on it. My question is: What do you think about builders who use other peoples cc and perma paywall their content? Let me repeat, she has upped her builds from $5 to $10 because someone leaked her content. I doubt anyone will willingly pay that amount of money to her either, just find it disrespectful.
This is one of those fun situations where I have been meaning to talk about people like this but I get so angry and frustrated when I think about it I struggle for words. But I will attempt today.
First, I should clarify that there are MANY great non paywall builders who include CC in their builds. Including CC in builds isn’t a problem ASSUMING that:
1. You have provided credit to the CC creators (when possible!).
2. You have not claimed the CC as your own.
3. You are not permanently paywalling your content. (Ex: Free or early access)
With #1 I say “when possible” because some creators do not label their CC well and after months of being in your Cc folder it can be hard to track down who made what item. As long as you do your best to track down who made it and aren’t claiming it’s yours, and you’re willing to take it down if someone has a problem…I personally don’t see an issue with including CC. It’s all about your intention. If your intention is just to share a build and maybe get some donations, you’re not actively trying to profit off the work of others.
However, the problem comes when you start paywalling. Because MANY creators have rules about if you can put their content up behind a paywall, and it’s rude to do so. The intention shifts to holding your “arrangement” of THEIR content hostage until you are paid. That’s not only disrespectful to their terms and hard work, but it’s unethical since all you did was arrange their objects on a lot.
So yeah, I’m not much of a fan of permapaywall builders. And what’s sad is that if someone realizes that their objects are in a permapaywalled build, they are often screwed over.
Because unless they **PAY** to see evidence of that creator having their content, it makes it hard to DMCA them. In addition, submitting a DMCA means that the person who receives it will receive your LEGAL FIRST AND LAST NAME because a DMCA is a legal document and you are required to share that information. Doxxing risk, anyone?
The amount of times I’ve talked to creators like Syb, and others about their content being in builds and had them say “yeah there’s not much I can do. I told them to remove it, they said they did, but I guess they are lying and I don’t want to pay them to find out.” Is INSANE.
Please friends, do not support this madness. Support great and ethical builders like @beansbuilds who are early access and provide credit!
