ngl the comic with Eelektross attacking Emmet is heartbreaking on it's own. But I cannot imagine the level of guilt and sadness Eelektross has when he snaps out of it and realizes that he hurt and almost killed his trainer he'd be so sad and guilty.

But honestly despite everything it's good it isn't Ingo with Chandelure. Given she's a ghost type she could kill Ingo with little effort by burning off his soul and/or life essence. And the guilt would be just as severe.

Honestly regardless of who, a Pokemon possessed killing off their beloved trainer always is heartbreaking to imagine.

Exactly this!! In this official comic piece about the twins you can see Emmet holding his sync pair Eelektross up in his arms (I love this so much, seeing submas show physical affection officially!!). The sygna suit represents the strength of the bond between the trainer and their Pokémon. Both of these are clear marks of great trust between each other! So yes, poor Eelektross would never do this & would feel horrible about hurting his beloved trainer for any reason! Also good point about Chandelure! Ingo would be doomed to become a walking corpse very fast if he didn't have any other Pokémon to protect him. And same in this case, Ingo wouldn't be wearing the sygna suit if his bond with Chandelure wasn't pretty much perfect so pitting them in a life and death battle against each other would be awfully tragic! I admit I enjoy putting my favourite characters into all sorts of challenging/dangerous situations and watching how they deal with them. However I'm not too fond of killing off characters myself, so despite the situation looking dire in the comic there is a glint of hope!

dear gosh I'm obsessed with how you draw the sillies. ingo and emmet are so perfectly characterised and i can't imagine them any other way. your dialogue is phenomenal. the Pokemon are so wonderfully realised characters too, litwick/lampent/chandelure sassy nightlight beloved (ft. lady sneasler), and the Big Eel Doggo 🤩 i love you draw the othere too, lint roller the archeops!!!! trubbish shenanigans! elesa and her menace pizza rat!

you so perfectly thread that line between goofy and genuinely heartfelt. the little scenes of emmet and his eel in the rain and other such shenanigans next to emmet's anxieties and impostor syndrome culminating in that beautiful gorgeous wonderful evolution. sassy lamp and the genuine care and devotion she has for her rice cracker bland tasting trainer. oughhhhhhh

As for context, I came from the BOTW and dnd fandom from instagram! Art under cut!

(I drew these guys. So much. Linktober 2021 was my first foray into comics. I am glad to say I've evolved since drawing submas in 2023.)

BOTW aside, Pokemon's always been a hyperfixation for me, but only creature design wise (except for the adventure mangas. I LOVED that pokemon manga.) Submas sorta hit me like a speeding train because it gave me the frame work for a sibling and found family dynamic, and a lot of this iteration of Ingo and Emmet's personalities are from my own experiences OR from the deep abyss where I keep my braincells. Anyways glad to ramble! Thank you so much for the kind words-- and I'm excited to see where the submas train rot takes us. Onto new tunnels! All aboard! Yippee!

hilariously enough i was already typing this but you had the misfortune to ask me directly. fucking get ready. if loop had a pokemon team they'd for sure have mimikyu. i don't think i have to explain mimikyu. honestly i think they'd mostly have ghost types. i like the idea of chandelure and yamask. again pretty self explanatory. also hisuian zoroark, for its batshit dex entry. they could have a gengar if AND ONLY IF siffrin has a clefable. for non-ghost types minior's an obvious option. maybe emolga i think they could vibe like hell with emolga. perhaps sharpedo? i do think it would be funny if sif and loop shared a pokemon but i don't know which one . maybe the emolga

i can believe in siffrin having a slightly more mixed team. clefable as mentioned to match loop's gengar (also because funny moon). perhaps pelipper (Island). also aforementioned potential shared emolga. they should have a cat. perhaps delcatty. i think it'd be fun to have a vivillon since the regional pattern would effectively be entirely unique to siffrin's assuming they got it on the island

mira's like fairy/grass to me. i think she should have a mega altaria or mega audino either work. funny whimsicott? i think she'd vibe like hell with a ribombee. she'd also vibe with meganium i think. perhaps lilligant or lurantis? her party's vibes are fucking Immaculate.

isa should get a leavanny i don't make the rules. i think he tends towards rock/ground/steel but the leavanny is key. he could hang out with an excadrill i believe this with my heart. shiny nidoking for trans rights? i believe in lycanroc but i don't know if it'd be midday or dusk. probably midday. i think he'd have the world's chillest ursaring

odile gets mainly psychic/ice it's just her energy to me. i feel like she'd roll with an aurorus. i think she could have a froslass and they would have girlboss solidarity. perhaps gothitelle i think they'd vibe. i think it'd be a little insanely funny if she had a hatterene because if that thing wasn't evolved it would've mauled siffrin and loop to death so quickly. i also think it'd be funny to throw something like an obstagoon or a krookodile in there just to really keep them guessing

Bonnie My Love... they'd have swirlix for sure. i think they should have some manner of cute little bug like a spinarak or a joltik. it just feels right. hisuian growlithe could be a slay. i could believe in something like a torchic. i know its basic but i think theyd have fun with a riolu. the puncher. i think it'd be fun if they had a pancham and nille had a pangoro

SURPRISE NILLE. nille has the aforementioned pangoro. i think it'd be wonderful if the pans were also siblings. she'd have primarily fighting i think. she would get along with breloom i believe this in my heart. i think it'd be pretty fitting for her to have a bewear. perhaps hakamo-o (she would not have high enough levels for a kommo-o LMAO). i think she'd like zangoose because she'd think it's fucking awesome (she's right). i think it'd be nice if she had like a minccino friend to help out with chores. i literally feel so bad for nille she can have a beloved rodent who helps keep the house clean

With mermay fast approaching, I’ve been thinking a lot about a Primarina hybrid S/O for the submas.

They love to hear you sing, after a particularly stressful shift or just plain unable to sleep, your beautiful voice is just what they need to relax. You’re affectionately called their little “sea canary”.

You don’t have legs, so you just kinda bounce around like an actual seal unless Ingo or Emmet decides to carry you. In the water however, you’re fast and all your movements exude grace and elegance, almost like you’re dancing.

The whole concept is particularly delicious if you have a type advantage over them. (EX: submas are fire types.) You and Chandelure Ingo would sing so beautifully together tbh.

I mean, one AU has Emmet as an Eelektross hybrid and Ingo as a Chandelure hybrid.

Chandelure Ingo and Primarina s/o are definitely an extremely beautiful duet to hear and deeply romantic. To an outsider, however, it may look a bit sad to see a water type hybrid and a fire type hybrid in love.

Chandelure Ingo can also croon soft songs for his tired lover, too. Perfect balance struck there.

Emmet would adore getting to carry his beloved around and doesn't even care about the looks he might get. Though, things might get out of hand if he brings up a finishing net addition to the bedroom.

In the case of Eelektross Emmet, he is probably extremely protective of you since you're likely from a species his own preys on lol

Top 5 favorite pokémon <3

Yessssss!! Choosing my last few were a tad harder but I can give some honorable mentions at least!

CROBAT! A surprise to no one who has seen me talk about this one. It’s PURPLE. It has FOUR WINGS. It evolves from FRIENDSHIP. And it’s SO FAST!! There are no downsides to Crobat <3

Bulbasaur. My first Pokémon ever and while second place here, still my beloved. This goes for this entire line!! I love Ivysaur and Venusaur pretty much just as much but I definitely have more Bulbasaur merch of the three.

Sylveon. While I can resist making all of my choices eeveelutions, I am NOT immune to the cuteness of the line so Sylveon can represent it as a whole, plus is my general favorite! My first fairy type and just a fantastic Pokémon in general, especially for dragon killing <3!

Haunter. Again, love this entire line but Haunter is such a silly looking guy! I like its design a bit better than Gengar’s (though I love Gengar too) and it’s just always been a favorite of mine!

Chandelure. Probably one of my favorite ghost type designs ever! The haunted chandelier who may or may not steal your soul is so COOL!! Also it has a pretty cool shiny!

Mew, one of my favorite mythicals and an adorable, mischievous cat!

Giratina, one of my favorite legendary designs with some VERY cool lore!

First Finished Piece of my Submas Pokémon reunions! This One is Chandelure and Durant

Chendelure is named Fright Train!

Chandelure and Eelektross were actually Emmett's and Ingo Starters, but were swapped when they started out so Emmett was the one to name Her,

Emmett got a Fire type and Ingo an Electric to match Reshiram and Zekrom but ended up swapping since both trainer and Pokémon preferred the other Twin

Not that they went far since Ingo and Emmett live together and co-raise/ share both teams

A common way to tame/ catch a Litwick is to set out Empty candles near ghost infested area and prey for a kind soul to inhabit it, You can also costomise the candle by adding scents to the Wax when you create the candle for them to live in, but it can be changed if you feed them enough of another scented wax,

Fright Train has a the smell of chai tea and diesel Which is obviously uncommon and makes her presence unmistakable

Because of being Hand Raised by the twins, Chandelure has a sorta mutual soul bond with the twins, making them like 2% ghost which is why both Ingo and Emmett have glowing eyes seen in by Ingo in Pokémon Arceus

She also able to also able to sense her trainers by seeing their souls and when not in battle is often helping by bringing messages between Subway Staff by passing though walls to deliver notes or small items

Freight train being one of the oldest is a sorta motherly character at time helping with picking up laundry and dishes to be put away and such but is also more than willing to use it for pranks

When Ingo disappeared Freight train wandered the train tunnels at night, feeling guilty for not being able to sense the approaching 'demise' of her trainer and warn him beforehand so she wondered the last place she felt him to see if she can find his soul and bring him back to Emmett in whatever shape she can

On to Less Sad things!

Durant's name is Blastpipe, which is a sorta exhaust pipe for a train, he was named this because when he's ready for battle or particularly mad he blows out steam from his mouth like most engines do

He hugging Ingo's arm with his little ant legs the best he can! And wiggling his antenna in a joyful stimming motion,

Dispute being a Steel type he adores hugs having the personality of a small lap dog, with herding people onto chairs and things and then jumping onto their laps for pets,

Unfortunately he is extremely heavy, with Ingo and Emmett having to train to make sure they can pick him up on the regular

Blastpipe is the part of a team of Pokémon that help/ do rail track inspections and maintaince, he's especially good at make sure the steel rails are the correct angle and shape,

Like bee style dances, Blastpipe has a series of moves to communicate rather than vocal cues other Pokémon use, in fact Durant rarely "speaks"

Like all of his kind He needs metal structures for sharpening/teething his pincers, and when he's really upset tends to chew on furniture legs meaning that Ingo and Emmett have to retrofit all the bottom section of their beds, sofas, chairs and desks with used Steel Beams legs

Between Durant and Excadrill the house has a lot of holes in the walls, in fact Emmett made a whole Cat Tree wall structure for Blastpipe to wonder around

Different anon. I was there for gen 1 and the nostalgia has been going on since AT LEAST diamond/pearl in my age group, which was when we were in high school (and everyone was trying to act older). I stopped caring about anyone saying that new is worse, 100% of the times their takes are shit (still not over everyone hating chandelure and vanilluxe back then, it was love at first sight for me?! Kilnklang too?!? We finally get good object mon designs hello?!?!). Also for the record my least beloved gen could very well be the first one, lol

jotting my thoughts on pokemon rejuv so far since im just finished battling hazuki.

likes:

hell yeah more utilization of double battle scenarios. those are my jam and butter i have so much fun calculating who's gonna target who and what the fuck should i go for. I'd like to thank my cinccino and weavile. fakeout helping hand combos so well with my tanky or fast sweeper pokemon.

the field options and crest system are cool as hell. its gen rlly creative and i had to get used to it and use my brain, it throws a wrench in usual pokemon play and style. it also lifts some underutilized pokemon! its manageable though. and the boss battles were gen rlly cool! rift pokemon my beloved. rlly hard in the beginning but i learned to cheese it eventually (curse + leech seed + whirlpool + toxic with corrosion)

the difficulty i think is spiked p well, its good enough that you aren't out of options, almost never, but you got to use your head around certain teams and foes. EV training is a MUST, luckily there are EV training centers. i hate IV hunting so i used the password for full 31 IVs all the way . you also need some basis of pokemon competitive i'd say.

speaking of passwords those are gen rlly nice to use, saves some time. i got a remote pc with me and that saves like 50% of the handling when preparing for a boss battle.

the aevian forms are so cool. my fav has been probably chandelure and leavanny so far but i just caught a feebas so who knows. i also have a gastrodon who's so silly i love that design

god the characters are so nice. i love the individuality of each character presented to the player, and you kind of got to twist one part to get to the other and know why the first part was twisted. that being said, if you asked who my favs are its adam ren and talon. silly dudes. but i also know i would EAT this up in my younger years a lot more. but even now i still adore them. found family is dear and nice, especially well done for a large cast jesus fuck

also worldbuilding. i don't want to say more but woah. good job.

i want to like venam and melia's relationship a lot more than i do now. i think its just uncertainty with their previous known age gap before the time skip? eh.

I'm. very confused about Risa's whole schtick. i don't want to say more than now because spoilers and all. but i think too much information got laid on with that arc that my brain exploded there. wish it was just a bit clarified or so . (also is she 18 or 21??????? the internet and the game confuse me. this matters because i have to know whether to sock dylan or not)

some of the sidequest lines are misleading. they say "go to [here]" and when i go there nothing happens. its only when i search up the issue online is when i find out that i have to do Something Else first. just wish it was more clarified or such? if that makes sense? its like someone told you to go to the field or smth but didn't say you had to talk to the lady at the building first.

honestly i think the story confusions i have now are going to wait until The End of this game because rn it isn't fully complete. i will wait as long as needed until everything releases before i can make a full assessment. like. this has so much work put into this game. for FREE. NOTHING OF COST. like holy shit i can wait forever and ever. i have 130+ hours into this game. i can't believe this is nothing of cost. so a positive note here in this category.

honestly ive seen a ton of critique towards this game, so i was sort of jumping around trying to assess how hard it was going to be and whether or not i would be actually interested. i'm delighted to say i am. key note: don't listen to reddit when they say "too edgy". i know my edgyness. i i also quite enjoy some of it. i think its a matter of taste.

if you try out this game do have. a lil handful of pokemon experience in terms of speed, sweeping, and tanks. i think some basic knowledge there would go a long way. then again i played normal mode, there is an easier mode if i remember. either way, get ready to strategize.

thinking about the litwick line’s dex entries and ingo’s chandelure and emmet’s relationship w them after the disappearance.

thinks about emmet being followed by wild lampent when he's walking back home after work, seeing their dim purple glow out of the corner of his eye as he passes under flickering and burned out streetlights. seeing litwick along the paths, small flames twinkling in the darkness to lead him astray. finding it harder to tear his gaze from chandelure's fire, the hypnotic swaying pulling him along during their nightly searches down the closed subway line where ingo was last seen, away from the pull of those other glittering ghostly lights. chandelure's chiming cries echoing emptily down the tunnels.

thinks about emmet becoming more wary of chandelure but resolutely choosing to keep her by his side despite everyone's concern for his wellbeing. she was always ingo's favorite. does she resent him? chandelure was ingo's partner after all, not emmet's, even if the two of them always shared pokemon for battles. ingo always talked about taking safety precautions, that even with the trust between them, it was in the ghost pokemon’s nature to siphon life energy from living beings, that sometimes they could be doing it unknowingly, so it was important to communicate boundaries and limits. emmet didn’t have the same level of unspoken bond with chandelure that ingo did. without ingo around now, she really had no reason to tolerate emmet. it was his fault ingo was gone, anyway. he should have been able to save him. maybe she was gradually leeching off his energy until he was empty and left wandering these tunnels endlessly. he’d deserve it. it certainly seemed harder to breathe as the days went by. harder to do anything, really. maybe she only kept him around instead of burning his soul because he was so similar to ingo. that's fine. he'll find ingo and bring him back.

chandelure hasn't gone back in her pokeball since the disappearance, always hovering around emmet. she acts on her own, outside of his directions, often making odd gestures and bringing her flames much too close to him but not hurting him. never hurting him. but people are becoming increasingly alarmed by her presence, their complaints and advice growing more frequent. she’s out of control, she should be kept in her pokeball. he shouldn't be bringing her with him to the station. if something happened, she’d be taken away. emmet can’t let her be taken. but he brings her anyway. the warnings go unheeded and become white noise.

thinks about chandelure being anything but resentful. she's lonely. she misses ingo. she blames herself for not being able to save him. she doesn't know how to tell emmet that she knows he feels the same. she keeps the wild lampent and litwick from leading him astray on their nightly vigils. she does her best to ward off the collecting ghostly energy that seems to grow thicker around emmet each passing day, a sort of haze surrounding him that only she could see. he probably thinks she's trying to take his soul. the people around him tell him that she's dangerous. but he still keeps her around, wants her by his side and to be by hers. maybe it’s only because she's a reminder of ingo. that's okay. she'll keep him safe until ingo comes back.

they realize they're both trying to keep each other afloat. neither of them want to leave the other alone. and they reach an understanding that they’re both there for each other, they’ll provide support for each other, if even just by presence and company. the lampent stop following emmet. the litwick stay farther away from the paths and merely watch the two on their nocturnal ritual from the shadows with unlit wicks and curious eyes.
