#alpha Sephiroth

I've never been able to get over stories where the abused becomes the villain. True of any media that has this trope, really, but especially true of Sephiroth. He makes my heart hurt.

Created to be nothing but a weapon, abused and manipulated and experimented on from childhood. Sent to go fight Shinra's wars for them, desensitized to killing from a young age, but still managing to hold onto his kindness somehow. They made him into a legend larger than life for their propaganda, while simultaneously de-humanizing him in the worst ways, isolating Seph to the point where no one around him, not even his closest companions, even realized that he needed support. There's hints that no one around him really knew his background by the things they say - the only one who was aware of the extent of his mistreatment was his abuser. He was a high functioning individual - who would be arrogant enough to assume that The General could need help? Who would dare?

And I don't blame Angeal or Genesis or Zack for not realizing. Along with them simply not knowing there was an issue that needed addressing, Sephiroth probably kept it from them on purpose - whether by choice or necessity or outside influence or self preservation.

Sephiroth just wanted a normal life too. He didn't like having his picture taken, but endured because he had to, and because other people wanted it of him. He didn't really care to compete for the title of hero with Genesis, even though Genesis didn't seem to believe it. He took care of his troops, and we see in that one cut scene where he failed to save a soldier, that he still got upset over stuff like that. All those years of killing and losing his men to Shinra's missions and he hasn't truly become numb to it.

And then nearing the end, after first being told he's a monster by one of his former friends, and then later spending a week in that library not eating or drinking or sleeping, left alone to his devices because who would assume that the most competent general of their time can be in a vulnerable state, and shouldn't be left alone right now?

After learning the "truth" about his origins, and after a lifetime of systematic abuse, no longer believing he's even human anymore. And then the only person offering him a hand in his darkest moments is the one he shouldn't have taken. But at that point - could you blame him? Whether or not the post nibelheim Sephiroth is truly him or just a puppet for Jenova I'm uncertain about, but the end result is that from start to finish - Sephiroth never manages to break free from the whims of those who wanted to use him.

And because he gave into his worse demons - he won't receive a happy ending. He won't be saved. There's no comfort for him, no opportunity to rest and heal and grow. His childhood wish to live a normal life will never come to pass.

Watching Sephiroth's story unfold is like watching someone drown in front of you while surrounded by a crowd of people. And the one drowning doesn't even scream for help because he's been conditioned to believe that the suffocation is normal.

I will NEVER get over him. It doesn't excuse what he did after Nibelheim, I'm aware of that, but I can't help but remember that people only ever had praise for him while he was burning villages down in Wutai on Shinra's behalf.

It doesn't excuse his actions. But I will NEVER be able to forget all the ways the world failed him first.

First Class Trio Omegaverse Headcanons

Sephiroth

Hojo is a creepy MF, so the greasy beta has known Sephiroth’s secondary gender since he was in utero.

Sephiroth is an alpha, and an aggressive one at that.

Seph is aggressive on purpose because Hojo exploited his volatile nature during his ruts for SOLDIER, intentionally forcing him to channel the pent up energy in more reactive ways.

Sephiroth in heat is feral and has a tendency to go at it with anything that moves, regardless of secondary gender.

Hojo wasn’t above supplying poor omegas and betas, only testing them enough to ensure his prized experiment wouldn’t get an STD or anything that’d damage his work

Sephiroth has expressed several times that he isn’t interested in breeding or a more permanent mate.

Angeal

Angeal is mindful and polite. He’s an alpha, but Gillian raised him to be respectful.

Angeal grew up poor so when he was younger, he’d spend his ruts locked in his room, staying far from Genesis since he hadn’t presented yet. 

And if Genesis were another alpha, they could get into a fight, and if he were an Omega, he could hurt him without realizing.

Angeal is respectful and will spend his ruts privately, away from other SOLDIERs and infantry. 

He will decline missions on his ruts to avoid being unnecessarily aggressive and avoid not being in the right headspace while out on the field.

He also treats Zack like his pup and has a lot of influence on how the younger alpha controls himself on his ruts.

Angeal is very proud of his self control on his ruts, but he has a desire for Genesis on his ruts.

Genesis

Genesis expected to be an alpha like Angeal, which didn’t end up happening.

Genesis, as an omega, has taken heat suppressants and scent blockers from the moment it was legal to.

Being from Banora like Angeal, he has more traditional views of the ABO dynamics. Midgar is more contemporary, but Genesis has it engraved into his mind that to be a SOLDIER, he has to pretend to be an alpha or beta.

Genesis still gets his heats, and since he’s on medication, his hormones tend to be pretty messed up.

Genesis’s heat cycles are unpredictable and he hates them with a burning passion.

Genesis’s heat cycles generally comprise of him laying in seclusion with a fever and cramps.

Genesis is a baby. He whines about pain and hates being hot and clammy.

Genesis also isn’t shy to “relieve” himself with toys during his heat, though he’d really prefer a specific alpha.

Genesis craves apples on his heats, though specifically, he craves Banora White Apples… Angeal’s scent.

Something I like about Sephiroth that I don't see many people talk about is that he is quite soft spoken?

Yes! Sephiroth is VERY soft-spoken. He barely ever raises his voice at all, even when he's angry or surprised. Part of me wonders if this is a conditioned trait since he spent much of his human life being submissive to Shinra. Or maybe it's just how he is. Either way, it's just more proof that the real Sephiroth under the surface is actually very subdued and not the aggressively confident alpha that lots of people claim him to be.

Who gets lost in the ball pit and why is it Sephiroth?

Sephiroth: Actually, he finds the bouncy castle much more appealing than the ball pit. He's been in the bouncy castle for two hours now. Occasionally Angeal goes in there to check on him, but Sephiroth refuses to come out. The bouncy castle brings him joy.

Zack: The other children see him as the bigger, alpha child and immediately flock to him, which is how Zack ends up with a small gang of kids.

Genesis: Didn’t even want to go, said it was beneath him, childish nonsense. The moment he arrives he picks a fight with a kid. Angeal has to step in, drag them apart, and tells Genesis to "Go sit in the ball pit and cool off." So he does, sulking. I figured today I would focus on some facts about Bianca that I have been developing recently or over the last few months. They are going to range from romantic to the mundane. Also, there is mention of BDSM practices below.

While Bianca is a demisexual, I also label her as pansexual, too. Bianca does not care what anyone's orientation is. As long as a person developed an emotional bond with her, she could become attracted to them.

Bianca is also demiromantic. She made her living for six years as a romance author. I am a sucker for sticking an author / writer character into my stories.

Both Sephiroth and she are touch-starved, but to varying degrees. Sephiroth is not use to physical contact. When Bianca first hugged him, he was stiff and leaned away from her touch.

However, they do engage in BDSM practices. He is the dominant partner. Bianca would be considered an alpha submissive. She enjoys her bratty role.

Sephiroth will manifest his wing as a sign of dominance when she is too out of line with her brat persona. He has also used his telekinetic abilities to hold her down. This is never down in an abusive way. She consents every time. Sephiroth is the only being she trusts, which is ironic in its own way.

However, one of her 'rewards' is she gets to brush and style his hair. It's a bonding experience between the two. He also likes to brush and braid her hair, placing flower crowns on her head in their dreamscape. This keeps the Hades and Persephone theming of their relationship.

Bianca sees herself as an avenging angel, as well as the self-imposed title 'Priestess of Jenova' to honor Sephiroth and their plans. She harbors a hatred for humanity after everything that happened in her life.

Bianca prefers to wear Sephiroth's clothing when she can. He does NOT mind sharing his clothes, as he sees this as claiming her in a way. She loves to envelop herself in his scent, as she has heightened senses due to her demonic heritage. His scent provides her comfort on those days when her past is just a little too much for her. She boasts that she can smell him 100 miles away. This has lead to a nickname 'his bloodhound'.

Fun fact. I was going to make FWC an isekai in this newest rewrite. I found it funny that with Bianca's reality bending powers that she could have made 'One-Winged Angel' play on the Planet when Sephiroth fought Cloud. There are times when she does play music from her world, but seeing that they are on a different planet, Cloud, Sephiroth, and the rest do not understand the music.

Her favorite music is gothic rock and darkwave, industrial rock and metal, alternative rock, trip-hop, and symphonic metal. As she was teleported onto Gaia in '96, her musical tastes stay stuck in the 90s.

Bianca is 5 foot even. I often head canon Sephiroth to be 6'5". Since she is so much smaller than him, she will often levitate off of her feet to hug him or give him a kiss.

Tried experimenting with a loose idea of how different pairings work since I sort of hinted at it in my Shinra Executive post, but basically different pairings have different chances. For example, I hinted that Sephiroth is genetically altered (well, more than he already was) to be an alpha because his parents are a Beta-Omega pairing, and therefore don't carry the possibility to produce an alpha pup. I'm leaving this as baseline because genetics are screwy and I'm sure that there could easily be an arguable case for statistical anomalies.

in omegaverse aus sephiroth is almost always an alpha, and like hell yeah totally valid i do it too, but i would like raise the idea of: OMEGA SEPHIROTH!!!

him being born as an omega but no one knows and he doesn’t figure it out until much later in life because he was always pumped full of scent blockers and heat suppressants because hojo couldn’t stand the thought of his perfect creation being a “lowly” omega! hojo probably went as far as to put alpha pheromones/alpha like scents in his shower products so sephiroth would smell like an alpha too! i think hojo would have done numerous experiments to try to make sephiroth an alpha, which definitely stunted him and fucked up his hormones and general presentation so he’ll still never be the exact same as other omegas

i think it wouldn’t be until sephiroth is with angeal and genesis that they all slowly figure out he’s an omega, because he doesn’t have the same traits and pheromones that alpha angeal has, and he doesn’t react to genesis’ omega pheromones in the way alphas do! and when he finds out and stops taking the scent blockers hojo had him on he slowly starts to actually present more like an omega, in which genesis and angeal have to help poor sephiroth throughout everything as he struggles with all the changes! everything is suddenly so intense for sephiroth and his hormones are all over the place at first, and i believe his first heat would be absolutely hell for him!

Cloud looked slightly nervous, which made Sephiroth's stomach tighten. He fought to make sure his anxiety didn't show. He'd already forced Cloud through enough. He had only just started speaking again since...they'd mated. It had been months.

He couldn't stop his eyes looking at the mark on Cloud's shoulder.

"It's alright. What do you need, Cloud?" He still spoke as he signed. Cloud learned sign so much faster than he did, but Sephiroth still tried. He could understand it much better than he could sign it. Zack told him that was normal.

"Heat Induced Shock is a major shock," Zack said, "He almost died and the only thing that you can do now is give him time. Just give it time."

Cloud spoke on and off. He tried now and just managed a small sigh. Cloud shook his head, then his nervous look relaxed. Cloud laughed at himself, looking calmer. Cloud often did when he tried to speak, then realized he could just sign it. Sephiroth felt himself relax. Which made Cloud's next sign hit him even harder.

Cloud curled in his middle and ring finger. A simple sign. A devastating one.

"I love you."

He couldn't breathe. His heart pounded in his ears and his vision blurred. He couldn't breathe.

He'd given Cloud time. He knew it was only a matter of time before Cloud realized what Sephiroth had done to him. He had mated with Cloud to knock him out of his out of control heat. He took any choice away from him.

How could Cloud love him?

It had to be a mistake. He'd always been too much of an alpha. His scent, his demeanor, his very appearance had been manipulating Cloud from the start. Cloud was confused, acting based on his instincts gone haywire from Sephiroth's interference.

He felt hands touching him. He realized he was speaking, but couldn't hear what words were leaving his mouth. His vision cleared for a moment. He could see Cloud, looking into his eyes, his mouth moving. He couldn't hear him, couldn't tell if Cloud was speaking to him.

He felt like his body was moving outside of his control. He didn't know where he was going. He could barely feel the hands on his arms guiding him.

He didn't know when his vision went out, or if it even did. His breathing finally got even when he realized he was in his bedroom and Cloud was there. His head was laying on Cloud's chest. Cloud held one of his hands. His spare hand was running through his hair. He felt something press against his forehead. Cloud was pausing every now and then to press a kiss against his forehead.

He grunted and made to get up, but it was a weak attempt and Cloud pressed his free hand against the back of his neck.

It struck him. Cloud was...preening him. Omegas were only supposed to do that if they felt close to their mated alphas. Cloud kept going. After his next kiss Cloud leaned down lower.

"I love you," he said again, just barely a whisper. Sephiroth closed his eyes.

He'd eventually get up feeling embarassed. He'd had a panic attack in front of Cloud, something he'd been trying to avoid. Cloud would sign to him again making him pale a bit before nodding.

Cloud would frown before folding down Sephiroth's hands to get him to sign it back.

That got him to laugh.

He wished Cloud didn't make this so hard. He wished Cloud hated him.

The relief that Cloud didn't, was indescribable.

I've been rotating the omegaverse AGSZC pack idea I had recently where Genesis is the Head Omega and Sephiroth the Head Alpha but mated pairs are Genesis-Angeal and Sephiroth-Cloud. Specifically how Genesis and Cloud's relationship would have developed over time and I've decided Genesis' opinion about Cloud basically goes:

When Genesis is first introduced to Cloud and assumes Cloud is going to end up Zack's mate: What an adorable little omega Zack has found, so cute and naive, how fun.

When he realises that Cloud's actually going to end up Sephiroth's mate: That is a Threat to my position and I will get rid of him through whatever means if necessary.

(Name) Was proud of his sons, the three teens always making them proud and doing the best they could while being kind young alphas.

"I swear if I see one more courting letter I'm gonna scream" (name) grumbled as he and sephiroth retired for the night, the Alpha letting (name) put his very long hair in a thigh high sock for the night as the silver haired man sat on (name)s vanity stool "they're 15! They can't even drive let alone worry about marriage and mating marks" (name) huffed as sephiroth turned to pull (name) into his lap, kissing (name)s scent gland as he rubbed his sides "don't worry to much my love, I'll make sure it's all handled"

(Name) Grumbled but let his husband lift him and carry him to bed, the Alpha wearing silk pajama pants and (name) wearing the alphas top and a pair of loose shorts from when they were in highschool. Sephiroth crawled on top of him and kissed him sweetly "I just-- they're already at the age where people ask for courting! Well people did when they were little but now it's even worse!" (Name) Whined as sephiroth rumbled and pumped soothing pharamones "I'm not ready for it to be an empty nest..." (Name)s voice was watery and sephiroth calmed him "what do you want me to do?" Sephiroth asked earnestly to his mate who shrugged "... Would it be selfish to want another pup?"

"You want another baby?" Sephiroth asked calmly and (name) nodded, the Alpha smiling softly and kissing him "guess it's time for you to get off the pill then"

Come morning (name) was far chipper with a slight limp and sephiroth was like a new man as the Alpha made breakfast, his mate sipping (drink) as he went through the mail that their housekeeper brought in for them, organizing them by person "good morning..." Loz grumbled as he plopped on the chair at the kitchen island, breakfasts were spent in the kitchen after all.

"Good morning, pup" (name) said softly as he handed the teen a few letters and Loz sleepily opened them as the other two wandered in and got their stacks of letters "ew..." Loz read the letter in disgust and (name) looked confused "the Sato family is telling me how their Omega is untouched and pure"

"She absolutely is not" Yazoo said back as he ate the breakfast their sure made them, (name) getting the mail back and reading them one by one angrily and sephiroth wanted to pull his hair out, having just gotten (name) calm and content "most of these are courting letters!" He seethed and the teens were also tired of it "I'll handle it" sephiroth said simply and the other four knee what that meant.

The following weeks, the courting letters dwindled and (name) wasn't sure what sephiroth did but it worked as the Omega prepared his nest, his sons staying at their uncles for the week and sephiroth would just smile at the Omega when (name) asked about it.

Well, whatever he did worked.
