Runes begin to appear on the walls, glowing softly…

Pure agony streaks through him. Every regret, every mistake, every bit of grief he shoved to the side, every repressed memory, all burst through him. And he cannot scream. He cannot yell curses or vow revenge, or even just cry out for his sister.

No, he is forced, suffocated, frostbitten into silence.

Tears stream down his shadowy face, as he folds in on himself and falls to his knees.

She didn’t really used to smile, let alone giggle this much. She peeks around the corner. Her hiding spot is even more betrayed by the fact that she’s literally a glowing candle.

Oh! I hear giggles..! Maybe.. she's....... behind this corner!! Rahh!!

Alpen kicks her feet a bit, her glow now very obvious. She summons a small flower and experimentally tosses it over the side.

*Neb just watches it fall to the ground, the height slightly dizzying. But they quickly avert their eyes back up to the night sky*

first of all, Devils, Demons, Demidieu and Edenites Devils are bodiless entities that wish to see the downfall of humanity, the usual

Demons are mindless entities with bodies that serve as the Devils' eyes, their bodies don't have to be animals, which means Demons can be plants!!

Demidieu are basically a fusion of devils and demons, they have both a mind and body. Demidieu are often found in human form.

Edenites are the human servants of the Devils. They either join the forces by partnering with a Demidieu or a influenced by the Devils.

secondly, The Gallery, an organization dedicated to eliminating and purifying the Devils and their forces.

Butterflies, are the people who work within the Gallery, most of the Butterflies are priests but a small number of them take up the art of the sword to become knights or exorcists.

Alice is a Butterfly from The Gallery who also works for the royal guard (currently serving the Northen Kingdom's Princess as her personal knight) Cassius is an Edenite who's a general for the Western Kingdom's guard and is a close personal friend of the kingdom's prince (Cassius is also unofficially officially the Prince's personal knight)

less lore and more about the elements and genre of the story, the story is fantasy-romance with elements of reincarnation and time travel

plot in short Alice ends up getting killed by Cassius and is promptly sent back in time and reincarnated in another world that is a copy of his own since he now has a second chance at life, Alice isn't going to waste it. As he has now learnt that Cassius is allied with the people plotting the Western Prince's death.

basically the Gallery needed a physical way to keep track of their Butterflies and prevent people from faking so all official Butterflies have simple tattoos that glow and shift colours. The ink the Gallery uses are made from ingredients only the Gallery has access to

though not apart of the list of ingredients, Morpho Discordia butterflies assist in gathering certain types of ingredients as some are too delicate for a human to pick. (the Morpho Discordia butterflies were originally created for this purpose)

Devils, Demons and Demidieu, despite being separate entities all go by one name. Atrocities

Butterflies who have left the Gallery but continue their work as Atrocity Vanquishers are called Moths.

While half-atrocities do exist, very few of them survive childhood and their always half-demidieu

An Infestation is the demonic energy that the Atrocities give off, if there's too much of it, it can cause illnesses and other things

the Red Throat Infestation was a type of demonic energy that ran wild in the Northern Kingdom and other areas, the majority of victims of it fell into comas and eventually passed.

But the others who didn't fall into a coma had to deal with worse symptoms, like a painful rash @ the throat

At an early age, Alice and his biological family got infected with Red Throat. Though Alice survived he lost his biological and became more venerable to future Infestations.

Cassius being an Edenite naturally gives off a lot of demonic energy and Alice (now being aware of who the man is working for) quickly becomes terrified of him, especially since he can sense something else surrounding the traitor. Upon seeing the terrified Butterfly, Cassius quickly becomes interested in him.
