Baking therapy on a budget Ft. Genshin Characters: Keqing - Almond Pulp Cookies
Tumblr media
Hello, every birdy. Today we are going to be doing zero waste. If you read the last post you will know that we have some unused almond pulp, from the almond milk. This is a really simple recipe. The original recipe is  vegan and gluten free. However, I am going to share with you what I used because as most of you know I like to use ingredients that I already have in my house, and i don’t like going to the grocery store to get one or two things. Especially if I know I am not going to be using them.
Tumblr media
Before I forget and neglect the character in question like I do in the game. Keqing (ka-ching, $$$) is a significant character in Liyue’s archon quest. She is one of Ninngaun’s helpers. As we have seen in the Stove God Event, Keqing does in fact love food and is not just a workaholic. I was unable to get any shrimp at this time or I would have tried to make one of her favorite dishes, because honestly, that is one of my favorite dishes as well, Golden Shrimp Balls. Even though she says that Almond Tofu is not her favorite food, These cookies are not anything like tofu.
Tumblr media
The ingredients that you will need for this recipe are:
1 ½ cups almond pulp (this is equal to 1 batch of almond milk, which uses 1 cup of almonds)
1 cup rolled oats
½ cup maple syrup, agave syrup or what I did was make a simple syrup with hot water and sugar
½ cup of either almond butter or peanut butter ( i used peanut butter)
¼ cup of ground chia seeds or ground flax seeds - this is equivalent to 1 egg (Which is what i used)
1 Tablespoon of coconut oil, or margarine (I know not the healthist and right now its not really the cheapest thing at the store but it was what I had in the fridge at the time of making this.)
2 teaspoons of vanilla
½ salt
Optional things you can add
½ cup chocolate chips
½ raisins -this is what i choose
¼ cup of unsweetened shredded coconut
Tumblr media
This recipe is an easy recipe that you can switch out ingredients to make them according to your diet. I had no reason to make this recipe vegan, but it can be made that way if that is your diet.
Tumblr media
You want your almond pulp to have dryed in the fridge for about a day. If you use it right away it will be to wet to work with.
Tumblr media
The first thing you will want to do is preheat your oven to 350 F. Prepare 2 large cookie sheets with parchment paper or silicon baking mats, if you are working in a conventional oven. If you are using a convection oven, reduce the temperature to 325 F and spray your pan, and do not use parchment paper. It will take a lot longer, but the cookies will taste the same.
Tumblr media
Next, I combined an egg and the simple sugar to a small bowl and mixed them.
Tumblr media
In another medium sized mixing bowl you are going to mix together the almond pulp and you have to make sure that you have gotten rid of all of larger chunks with a fork. Once you have all of that done you are going to add in the oats and salt, and stir everything together.
Tumblr media
To the egg mixture you are going to add the peanut butter, margarine and vanilla making sure to mix well.
Tumblr media
Now, we are going to add the peanut butter mixture to the almond pulp mixture and stir until everything is absorbed. Once everything is combined you are going to add in your add-ins.
Tumblr media
Use a large spoon to drop the cookie dough onto your prepared cookie sheet. Make sure to flatten each of the cookies.
Tumblr media
Bake the cookies for 350F for about 13 minutes or just until the edges start to brown. Cool them on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before removing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These cookies were really good, and I just left them on the coffee table in the living room. It did not take long for the cookies to go. Which is a good sign, because my family is known to tell me when they don’t like something.
Tumblr media
I hope that you liked this recipe.  Feel free to check it out for yourself. See you in the next post. Thank you.

Leftover Juice Pulp And Some Recipes To Use Them
Tumblr media
At DNA Health we are always concerned about how to minimize waste through easy healthy cooking. Since the launch of our new DNA Cold Flow Juicer, we have been wondering how to put the leftover pulp to good use. Using our DNA Airfryer Oven creating these dishes will be a breeze. Especially when making use of the 16 available presets.
Almond Pulp Cookies
Everyone loves almond milk! And that rich almond flavour can be put into baking almond pulp cookies. Use your almond pulp as part of the batter, and you can add some seeds or other ingredients to really play with the flavour. In our recipe, we used flax seeds and bananas to enhance the texture and flavour of the cookies. Plus it was great to pair it with the almond milk we prepared using the DNA Cold Flow Juicer!
Soup Broth From Pulp
Now is the time to put that vegetable pulp to good use! Soups are healthy for you and sometimes it is the broth making that can take some time, but now you can pre-make some nutritious vegetable broth using your vegetable juice pulp. All you have to do is to grab a large pot with water, add your pulp and bring it to a boil. If desired you can add your own spices to the mix. After 45-60 minutes strain the pulp and store the broth for later use.
Pulp Muffins and Cakes
Who doesn’t like cake or muffins? They are versatile and beloved baked treats and with the inclusion of some of your leftover pulp, they can come in a wide range of flavours.
Carrot Cake: replace your grated carrots with soaked carrot pulp
Fruit-flavoured muffins: using any muffin recipe you can add any pulp to add that unique flavour to it. Or even hide some vegetable pulp inside to trick the kids.
Apple Pulp Pie: replace your marinated chopped apples with soaked and marinated apple pulp, but remember to use apple pulp quickly once you’re finished juicing to minimise the browning process that comes naturally with cut apples.
Pulp Smoothies
Smoothies are a great addition to your morning routine and with the addition of your leftover pulp to your smoothies you get more nutrients, a thicker blend and that extra bit of fibre which we all know we need every morning. You can try any combination for example a banana smoothy with some almond pulp, a mix berry smoothy with a mix of fruit pulp, or a green smoothy with some cucumber and kale pulp. We encourage you to experiment with the flavours!
Breads, pancakes and waffles
Banana bread with almond pulp; bake a household favourite using that nutritious leftover almond pulp.
Spiced carrot pecan bread; just like normal bread only delicious with the use of carrot pulp.
Loaded pancakes; simply add the pulp of your choosing to the batter and enjoy the burst of flavour!
Fruity waffles; using different pulps in your recipes you can make great savoury waffles for every occasion from sweet desserts, to vegetable-filled lunches and protein-layered dinners.
Fruit Leather from Pulp
The best sweet treat is fruit leather and now you can make your own at home using your leftover fruit pulp. Flatten your pulp evenly across a sheet of baking paper, place it into your DNA Airfryer Oven and use the dehydration preset. After some hours you will have delicious fruit leather treats to enjoy!
Plant-Based Pulp Patties
This is the vegan dream! Plant-based meats right at home! Using leftover vegetable pulp you can make plant-based ‘meat’ patties and ‘meat’-balls. Using a flax egg (ground flax meal and water) and some vegan butter mix into your ‘meat’-balls or patties and place into the DNA Airfryer Oven. Create plant-based burgers and pasta that anyone and everyone can enjoy!
Clothing Dye From Pulp
A great hack for DIY enthusiasts! Using a mixture of different fruit and vegetable pulps you can dye clothing into a variety of different colours.
Red: beet, cherries, raspberries.
Orange: paprika, red onion.
Yellow: lemon, pomegranate, turmeric.
Green: artichokes, fresh herbs, spinach.
Blue: blueberries.
Purple: blackberries, red cabbage.
Pulp Crackers
These are a perfect grab-and-go snack for those with allergies, or intolerances. Using different pulps you are sure to unlock a range of flavours from almond crackers, carrot crackers and some vegetable crackers. They’re even durable enough to scoop up some of your favourite dips to enjoy it with.
Dog Treats From Pulp
This is for the fur parents who love juicing, there is a way to make healthy and safe dog treats using leftover juice pulp! Only use ingredients that are safe for your dog. Don’t use any toxic ingredients that could potentially harm your furry friend.
2 cups juice pulp
⅓ cup natural peanut butter
¼ cup ground flax
¾ to 1 ½ cups GF rolled oats
Compost
If none of the recipes above interest you then add it to your compost bin. If you don’t have one then we recommend that you get one soon to minimise waste and produce the perfect plant food!

Healthy Breakfast 22: Delicious homemade desserts
Tumblr media
And why not start your morning with dessert? Minerals, healthy fats, protein, and the right carbohydrates-all this should be present in our food so that the energy balance in the body is not disturbed. Breakfast is our best friend. And it just has to be not only healthy but also delicious. Like, for example, this coconut dessert with raspberries and mango.
Coconut dessert with raspberries and mango
Tumblr media
Ingredients for 1 serving:
Coconut milk of normal fat content (about 17%) 1/2 cup Raspberries (can be frozen) 3 tablespoons Almonds 2 tablespoons Chia seeds 1 tablespoon Mango pulp 1/2 of the fruit
How to make a coconut dessert:
Cooking time 15 minutes
In a blender, combine the coconut milk, almonds, and raspberries until smooth. Add the chia and stir at a low speed for a few seconds just so that the seeds are evenly distributed in the coconut mass. Put the mass in a glass or other dish, cover it with cling film, and put it in the refrigerator until tomorrow. In the morning, cut the mangoes and sprinkle them over the breakfast dessert. If desired: you can add a little vanilla to the coconut mass when blending.
This breakfast is prepared on the evening of the previous day. Therefore, in the morning, you will only have to enjoy this dessert. Bon Appetit!
Homemade cakes with berries and almonds
But it will be better if the sweets on your table are at least self-made and just fine if they are made from useful "live" ingredients. I offer you a healthy dessert-homemade cake with berries. This dessert is rich in vitamin E, which:
it is absolutely necessary for all functions of the immune system; it is an antioxidant; it stands guard over our beauty-it moisturizes the skin and mucous membranes.
Tumblr media
Ingredients for 8 pieces:
We measure everything with a measuring cup for liquids.
Peeled sunflower seeds 1 cup almonds 1 cup almonds Coconut oil 2 tablespoons Pitted dates 8 pcs Salt to taste 1/2 cup water
For the cream:
Ripe bananas 2 pcs Ripe avocado 1 piece Vanilla powder 2 teaspoons Water 2 tablespoons
How to make homemade cakes:
Cooking time 25 minutes
Cakes:
Make flour from seeds and nuts (in a blender, food processor, or coffee grinder) , mix with the remaining ingredients and mix in a blender/combine until smooth Take the forms for tartlets or muffins (ceramic, iron, or silicone) and lay them with food wrap. Divide the dough evenly into the molds, pressing them with a spoon or hand against the walls to make a cup. Put them in the freezer for 15 minutes while you prepare the vanilla cream
Cream: mix all the ingredients in a blender until smooth.
Remove the molds from the freezer, and from the molds-the resulting baskets. Pour any fresh berries into them, and pour the cream on top.
IMPORTANT: Despite the healthy ingredients, this is still a dessert rich in sugars. Therefore, I advise you not to get carried away, but to limit yourself to 2 servings per week. Bon Appetit!
Muffins without sugar, gluten, and milk
There is no sugar, gluten, or even milk in muffins. This is the rare sweetness that you can eat with an absolutely clear conscience (within reasonable limits!). They are full of fiber, healthy fats, and vitamins. They are the best salvation for people who are struggling with sugar addiction from different cookie-chocolate bars.
They are suitable for both a snack and a dessert. Their undeniable plus — you can bake a lot of pieces in advance, freeze and pull out carefully, one per day. These muffins have a low glycemic index, and they are satisfying.
Tumblr media
Ingredients for 12 small muffins without sugar, milk, and gluten:
Almonds 7.0oz Flaxseed 2 tablespoons Small coconut chips 3 tablespoons Gluten-free oatmeal (you can do without it, if there is none, or if you want to further reduce the glycemic index of muffins) 2 tablespoons Baking powder 1 teaspoon Coconut oil at room temperature (can be replaced with butter) 2 tablespoons Ripe banana 1 piece Large apple 1 piece Eggs 3 pcs Salt to taste Paper or silicone muffin molds
Making muffins:
Cooking time 40 minutes
Preheat the oven to degrees Celsius.
In a blender or food processor, grind the almonds, flaxseeds, and oatmeal until you get coarse flour.
Add the baking powder, salt, and coconut flakes, and mix again in a blender.
Rub the apple on a coarse grater, and break the banana into 3-4 parts. Put the fruit and eggs with butter in the almond mixture and mix well in a blender until smooth.
Place the paper molds in an iron muffin tin and spoon the dough into them so that it fills the molds 3/4 full.
Put in the oven on the "Ventilation" mode and bake for 25-30 minutes until ready (when piercing, the dough should not remain on the match). Cool down and eat to your heart's content.
For storage and freezing, I wrap each muffin in plastic wrap. So it is more convenient to store them and get them strictly one by one per day. Bon Appetit!

𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐒𝐄𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐎𝐃𝐃𝐋𝐘 𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐂𝐈𝐅𝐈𝐂 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐍𝐒.
What does your muse smell like? At any given moment, Cường smells very thickly of deep earth and all things green that grow. He wears a cologne of dried sage, of freshly blossomed roses, bottled up heather, and cardamom bulbs. Yet, underlying these stronger scents, too, there's something sweeter and paler, something summery like sea salt and just peeled tangerines. Laundry, maybe. Hand washed cotton sheets.
What do your muse’s hands feel like? Secure. Warm. Comforting. Cường is a little slight in his body, sure, but his hands run a bit on the larger and firmer, even oddly stronger side comparatively. He's a hard worker and a to-the-bone toiler, so besides swaddling and comforting, his palms have callouses from hours on the pestle and pruning roses, too. They're honest and just a little too rough, admittedly, but somehow, someway, that adds to the comfort those healing hands bring.
What does your muse usually eat in a day? Rice, fish, and pickled vegetables mostly. For dessert? Fresh peeled fruit. He loves baking just as much as he loves cooking, however, and sometimes, as a rare treat, he'll enjoy his choice of dessert puddings, Vietnamese chè, or almond cookies.
Does your muse have a good singing voice? He isn't exactly terrible, but he is off-key and is more a I'm-humming-when-I'm-alone-and–idle guy.
Does your muse have any bad habits or nervous ticks? Cường, for all his making medicines and tending to other people, has the world's most laughable sense of self preservation. It isn't that he seeks pain or any excuse to harm himself, but when pain comes upon him, or fights, arguments, and blistering, misdirected anger either verbal or physical, he doesn't care. A man can wallop him within an inch of his life for his frightening death-ramblings, and he'll let them have their fill until he's knocked out pulp.
What does your muse usually look like / wear? Natural, a little sleep rumpled, and always in dark (though mostly black) shorts that runs both boxy and slouchy. His only personal effect is his dainty gold chain ordained with a jade cut pendant. In all, the whole package makes him lowkey and relaxed.
Is your muse affectionate? How much? How so? Very. He isn't doting in the saccharine big smiles and batting lashes way, though. He's very casual and abundantly serene, but he says the sweetest things sometimes, the most uplifting things, too, and that's often paired with lingering touches, eyes both patient and steady, and someone's hair swept behind their ear.
What position does your muse sleep in? On his side, slightly folded. He sleeps like a rock, too, quiet, not a flinch of his willowy limbs, and that's in spite of his hair-raising nightmares.
Could you hear your muse in the hallway from another room? Sure. Cường's quiet, but he's alive, and you can hear it in the ambiance — the shuffle of his bare feet or the way he reads something back to himself sometimes in that deep, sleepy drawl, or him taking a kettle off the stovetop and the pop of his shoulders when he stretches and yawns.

17 Questions, 17 People
Thanks for the tag, Megan!! @nuttmeg13
Nickname: Ash (That's the most common one, but some people have been more creative. I treasure all nicknames, regardless.)
Sign: Aquarius
Height: 5'6”/167 cm
Last thing I Googled: I looked up the menu for the restaurant I went to for lunch. I wanted to see my dessert options, but didn't want to bother the waiter to ask for a menu.
Favorite song: Wayyyyy too many to choose.
Number of followers: I love that Tumblr keeps everyone's follower counts private.
Amount of sleep: Depends on the night! Ideally I try to get 7+. Usually I get closer to 5. If I'm having a bad mental health night or if I'm having particularly awful jaw pain, I'll maybe get 2 hours of sleep.
Lucky number: 3!! Also 0, 2, and any combination of all three numbers.
Dream job: Ideally, stay at home mom 🤷‍♀️. Maybe I'd be an editor part time. Realistically, full time editor.
Wearing: My outfit today was a gray, fitted, long sleeve shirt, + a long, black and gray, checkered skirt, + tall black socks, + black boots. However, I just changed into pajamas. I am currently wearing an oversized, gray, long sleeve shirt that says "Jamba Juice" and "Pulp Addiction" on it in orange lettering, + gray men's pajama pants that say "Millennium Falcon" and have an image of it on them.
Movies that summarize you: Ooh that's hard. I'll just list the ones I quote the most. The Simpsons Movie, Scooby Doo (2002), Mean Girls, Legally Blonde, Jennifer's Body. I'm sure there's more (and better) ones to use, but I'm too tired to think lol. I'm going to list TV shows as well. The Simpsons, Futurama, Friends, and King of the Hill.
Favorite instrument: Cello and guitar
Aesthetic: It's in my url. I'm an emo metalhead! I love 90s/2000s style and pop culture. My personality has been summed up as the color black but with a bunch of bright pink glitter. I think that feeds my aesthetic.
Favorite author: John Green!!
Random fact: I love to bake, but I never bake for myself. When I was in high school, I'd bake cookies all the time to give away to people. Every December, I make chocolate almond brittle to give out. I've baked cakes for family members' birthdays before. Baking isn't worth it if it's just for me, but it is so much fun to bake for other people.
Tagging: @day-trippin-dreamer @duffmckagans @tomkeifer @arnold-layne @awrestlinggirlwholoves80sbands @nocturnal-light @no-fxn-club Not quite tagging 17 people, but I'll leave this as an open tag for anyone else that wants to participate!!

At this point in our journey, Moroccan food deserves a post of its own. The Moroccan cuisine primarily caters to a non vegetarian diet. Its typical three course meal starts with small plates - olives, tomato salsa like dips, carrots, veggies, perhaps a lentil soup or salad. The famous Moroccan Tagine is next which is a slow cooked meal in a earthen conical shaped pot - this process lends itself much better to meats than to veggies, but they are all cooked the same way. While Moroccan spices are famous, they do not nearly have the same kick and flavors as Indian spices, and interestingly, food is very low on salt. The entree is followed by dessert, which is a plate of assorted uncut fruit - oranges, bananas, apples. Moroccan mint tea is offered last. When we had our first meal, we were a little disappointed by lack of flavor in our entree and annoyed about being presented fruit under the guise of dessert. We were sure we had been tricked as tourists, until we realized that this is standard fare.
Some other highlights of their food - freshly squeezed orange juice, full of pulp, the best we have ever had. Sometimes, it would be a mix of oranges and pomegranate.
Cookies were just out of the world - barely any sugar and made from almonds, pistachios, coconut and more. A variety of them being offered as a welcome token in hotels, or as an after meal sweet with tea. We even bought some back home.

initial thoughts on the lotions, below a cut bc. thoughts. length.
little hedgehog (spiky chestnuts, autumn leaves, wild mushrooms, and warm brown sugar) leaked a bit in transit and i'm not sure i mind the lost amount enough to say anything bc whoo boy that is potent and i do not know if i want it on my skin. i don't actually know what chestnuts smell like so I'm not sure if it's the chestnuts or the mushrooms that dominate this scent. could even be the leaves! idk, i live in the desert, we don't have tree leaves here just creosote and palo verde flowers
golden corn cakes (corn cake baked to a golden perfection, topped with butter and honey) came with a warning from some buyers that it smelled like play-doh on their skin, with the note that of course, everyone's skin chemistry is different. i've only tested it a little bit but i think it skips the play-doh for me? not sure how often i would want to wear this, but its true to the perfume sample i was given. not sure i get the butter or the honey, but maybe after its sat on my skin more, it'll settle in
pumpkin queen (gentle hay pillows, pumpkin, ripe peaches dusted with clove and nutmeg, dried summer herbs and lastly, a lovely crown of amber) i don't DISlike, tho i'm not sure how often i'll reach for it. but i usually detest florals in scents -- i gambled on this one bc when i asked for advice on scents, someone said it was their all-time fave -- and i don't hate it here. and peach can be an overwhelming scent, and it fits in with the rest of it here. i'll wear this if i go on any hay rides this year, lmao
pumpkin eater (oat milk, glowing pumpkin, rich vanilla bean and the tiniest touch of nutmeg butter) doesn't actually have as much pumpkin scent on me as i was expecting. i thought this sounded like a pretty standard autumn scent, which was nice because i don't have a typical autumn scent (except for pralines and pear which i'm almost out of and which bath and bodyworks hasn't made for years now, weeps) but there's not a ton of pumpkin. either the nutmeg or the clove -- i THINK nutmeg -- is more dominant on me. not overwhelming tho. a fairly light scent. a liiiiittle warm. maybe if i wear it longer the pumpkin will emerge more? but i could prob wear this to work with no problems (given how many kids have sensory or scent sensitivities)
olde cider haus (old oak, sweet drying hayfields, crushed apple pulp and vanilla husks) wasn't initially on my list of things i was looking at, but a recommendation from someone else put it on there, and i think I'm glad for that. i get apples at first, but if i smell deeply, i can get the hay. again, i don't know how often i want to smell like hay, but that's my issue, not the lotion-makers who were very clear about hay being a dominant scent.
twice is nice (sweetest offerings of opulence! buttery sugar cookie, with shavings of creamy coconut and topped with toasted almond slivers) smells to me like fairly standard sweetness. i do get almond though, and i like almond. i expected to like this decently well, which is why i got a mini size and not a full size. i do indeed like it decently well. it has fulfilled my expectations.
red roan (fresh strawberry flecked porridge with maple syrup and adulterated with a splash of white cognac) -- i don't know what cognac smells like. i have no idea. the only alcohol i've ever had is whatever is in vanilla extract, and a single drop of some like fancy whiskey or bourbon or something. which also smelled and tasted like vanilla extract. so does this smell like cognac? i couldn't say for sure but i don't THINK so. what it does smell like is packaged strawberry oatmeal. and i got a mini version of this (rather than none at all) bc someone told me that they love the scent because it smells exactly like packaged strawberry oatmeal. they were not lying.
kitchen witch (warm zucchini bread and pumpkin cookies, ginger root, aged patchouli, a sprinkling of anise seeds, and bundles of dried herbs hanging from cedar wood rafters) was something i was looking into in a full size at first, but someone warned me that if my skin amps anise like theirs does, that's going to be all i get from it. and i don't. actually know what anise smells like. i've never had black licorice. now i've smelled this and i'm scared to put this on my skin. maybe it'll transform and i'll get the rest of the scents but. maybe not. maybe it's just what i presume is anise. ...i sort of wanted to try absinthe with a sugar dripper because that seems neat, but absinthe is also anise-based isn't it. so i would really really hate it, wouldn't i.
ghost puffs (orbs of buttery popcorn and marshmallow goo, presented on a wooden stick) now that’s what i'm fuckin talking about babyyyyy!!! this is the one i was most excited to try, and.... to be honest, when i first put it on, all i got was an artificial marshmallow scent. and now, an hour after i put it on, i get... a realistic marshmallow goo scent. i do not get the popcorn or the butter. but my sister said she could smell it when I put it on! said it reminds her of a powder you put on some types of kettle corn. so that might just be my broken nose's inability to smell some things rearing its ugly head again.
i’m going to go slather myself in ghost puffs and see if i can make the popcorn come out that way.
