Oh my god I feel like im going insane a mosquito bit me in the God damn foot and now I can't sleep because it's so itchy and it HURTS like a bitch.

I had to get up and go get a cooling pad from the fridge because I genuinely could not just leave it alone oh my god

My mom loves to garden and she spends all day outdoors... She's also lethally allergic to insect stings. I dunno how she does it. She says that as long as she leaves them alone they leave her alone which makes sense but I stg every time I'm out there just trying to walk 20 feet from point a to point b I have to do this "omg get away from me" dance with at least one wasp. They really don't have a lot of brain cells. So they will just like keep heading in the same direction I am and then it looks like I'm hunting them. Don't know if I'm allergic, never been stung by one because I also leave them the hell alone, but sometimes "leaving them alone" entails walking all the way around a building because they won't move out of some tiny enclosed space by a doorway. It's wild because an intense fear of bees when you're allergic to them is not even considered a phobia, it's considered a rational fear by definition. It's like having a loaded gun flying around, obviously it's understandable to be scared when it's anywhere near you. She has not yet been stung while gardening though. I'm just hoping she doesn't try to walk it off if she is stung one day

got very mosquito bitten in michigan & most of them were normal and went away fast but a subset (first two on my leg, then one on my left forearm, then two on my right upper arm) swelled up hugely & became very red & intensely itchy and took a very long time to go down & i ended up applying two kinds of anesthetizing cream and icing it to try to manage it a bit even though they didnt really do anything

but im especially perplexed because the two on my right arm didnt show up at all until like. 5 days after we'd come back from michigan? and before that i didnt think i had any bite there at all, and otherwise didn't develop any new bites after i left. so either it's an insanely delayed allergic reaction to only a subcategory of very subtle mosquito bites or i have developed some kind of systemic problem manifesting in slow motion as 2 highly localized welts per week

not only do i have a mosquito bite on my FACE but also two on my neck which look SOOOOO much like hickeys 😭😭😭

If we ever chillin and you see me abruptly become legitimately stanced up like a fighting game character and look really angry, it means I saw a mosquito and I'm about to do some real reckless shit to try to kill it

Allow me to introduce you to my fateful expedition.

I had paused when I'd seen a little green cicada mournfully dragging itself over the sunlit pavement.

Oh no! I thought in dismay. He will get Steppied Upon and Squashily Crunched!

So, like the generous soul I am, I squatted to offer my hand for him to crawl upon. He went right for it and I smiled at his funny little claws on my skin. A friend.

I lifted him up up up into the air, turning to search for a good spot of safety. However, by chance, I noticed his leg twitching oddly. Gasp! Is he okay?

I scrutinize my passenger.

THIS FUCKER IS SLURPING ME!!!!!!!!

(Note the small black pipe from its snoot area into my skin. That's the piercing mouthpart, sort of like a mosquito's, that cicadas use to poke into tree bark for sap.)

LOOK AT HIM POKING HIS CAPRISUN STRAW MOUTH INTO MY HAND!!!!!!!!!!!! WITHOUT CONSENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The audacity!!!! The nerve!!!!!!!!!! This idiot thinks I'm a tree!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so offended.

Of course, I easily grabbed him, plucking him from his CRIMINAL ACTIVITY.

Gaze upon him.

Is this not the face of guilt???

Does he think he can politely tuck away his sippy tube and feign innocence????????

The fact that you can be in the house and still get tore up by mosquitoes is sickening and then it messes with your sleeping pattern depending on where they decided to chomp tf out of you.

enough hating on mosquitoes for being parasites or wtv. they're ecologically important and moralizing animal behavior is bad.

it's time to start hating on the human body for being default mildly allergic to a thing that is harmless and has existed for longer than our species.
