yo guys imagine if the avatars held a party and are just fucking shit up Fear style like comparing kills, drinking and doing eldritch drugs, hitting pinatas full of teeth maybe even killing a random convict that Michael stole from a prison. like normal awesome party shit for them but would kill a human. and like all the avatars are invited,not all of them are there but the main representative of each fear is there ,they all know each other and most of them even the ones that hate each other are there, there's an unspoken rule that no one seriously harms each other and that none of them will be held accountable for what happens at the parties. like nikola tapped the convict that Michael brought to the ceiling and is now peeling him. A handful of The Buried avatars are eating sand. Breekon and Hope keep winning at charades, Jared just ate the convict's leg. Elias is now possessing a cat and the Real Elias is tried to a chair in the garage. Peter is asking for a divorce. Michael is spiking the punch. there's enough power and sheer fear that this could be considered a Ritual. so all in all it's on par with all the other parties they've throw . it's been around an hour so they're not expecting anymore avatars to show up but this guy knocks on the door so nikola opens it and it's just this guy that none of them recognise but he compliments Nikola's clown makeup so they just assume he's a new fully fledged avatar and let him in. within 5 minutes they realise this new avatar is high as fuck and is on who knows what so they're already in the party spirit. The guy immediately pins Michael as the one who will have the drugs here and takes a handful of pills and swallow half and uses the powered from the other half to roll a joint and everyone is already loving this guy cause most avatars don't even have the balls to use any drugs Michael brings cause it's well know you will wake up covered in glitter in a ditch somewhere or worse, and this guy clearly know that. he then proceeds to partake in spin the bottle and eats a few things that are not mean for any avatar that's on the more 'human' side to eat. he asks if Jane is single, gets told no and that her girlfriend is the clown peeling the convict which he immediately goes over to and joins in on the peeling. He gets dared to eat one of the convict's eyes which he does. the real Elias is no longer tied to a chair cause Jonah/Elias is back in his body. The guy makes out with Elias and then convinces him to get back with peter. he ends up being the life of the party and once it's over all the avatars start trying to figure out which fear he belongs to so they can steal him but since none of them thought to ask him about it it's gonna take a bit

mean while a normal human stoner just who's high as fuck all the time is giving a statement at the Magnus Institute about the sick as hell party he showed up to that may or may not have been paranormal but he was like really high at the time so he's not sure and the guy he made out with looks a lot like jon's boss now that he thinks about it

I am genuinely loving the push and pull of the DATV characters various banters and relationships. Their development from general politeness (or barbed antipathy) to real connection and intimacy is moving. They're unsure, they feel each other out, they prod, but they're not going to immediately and firmly set themselves against someone they don't know and who they need to work closely with. They communicate because they must and become close because they want to and the journey is shown onscreen as opposed to being a void the player fills in.

For example, when Neve would not talk to me it was agony. The last conversation we had was her wanting to eat fried fish with Rook. Then I hurt her and it was quite a few hours later, after icing me out, that she tentatively tells Rook she wouldn't mind getting some fried fish together. I teared up. Her relationships with everyone else slowly opened up too, after that point. It was a thought out and touching development.

This is how people are. They are not constantly caustic discourse machines telling each other to kill themselves (the most devastatingly sincere moment between Anders and Fenris, by the way, taken out of context by twitter). We're softer and more sensitive than we admit to ourselves and others and we long for love, community, and connections.

Different groups are different, of course, different people are different, and the Kirkwall Crew are their own thing (traumatized haters about their softer underbelly and longings for connection), but we have foundational commonalities. I love the Kirkwall Crew most, but their writing frustrated the fuck out of me sometimes and this here is what I've been wanting from a queer found family dynamic in DA for some time. It's what they keep trying to write and for me it finally landed.

The developers may have overcompensated with DATV, and they did on a few fronts. But I can't help thinking of the criticism that the DATV characters are too nice as an online perspective. People are comfortable screaming at you here, dismissing you, or picking apart your entire character without empathy or consequence, and I do like stripping out the artifice, but that's not typically how interactions work outside this disconnected space we've all cultivated.

The way Nesta’s stans have been trying to defend her at every turn for years and she still gets insulted by not being credited for one of the biggest moments in ACOWAR by the publisher. The mad disrespect. The audacity to keep failing us the fans and cave to spam comments.

Talk about an actual hated female character. Her accomplishments and story is always being undermined because she isn’t this perky, uber feminine character. That scene is ACOWAR was pivotal for her character and was symbolic of the promise she made in Hybern back in ACOMAF. The wording on the bracket really does seem like copy and paste, so it truthfully would not surprise me if Bloomsbury did not even fact check the submissions.

People continuously sideline Nesta and steal her backstory, current and future plot arcs, and accomplishments and credit other characters. I joined this fandom for Nesta, not ships, and I place her above anything—she is beyond meaningful to me and she is my favorite character for a reason.

This ship war has made people blind to how ridiculous they are and it makes the general fandom and casual readers suffer because of it. Imagine not being aware of what’s happening, you see the bracket, and genuinely are confused because those are the most memorable moments from the entire series? A lack of mention of UTM, really nothing about Nesta in ACOSF, Rhys misting the battlefield, Papa Archeron coming with the ships, really no Nessian, Feyre with the lesser fae that lost his wings, Feyre during the Tithe, etc. If I was Sarah, I’d be insulted.

Bloomsbury is more than aware of the ship war and encourage this behavior for likes, shares, and other forms of engagement. They believe that this will sell the next ACOTAR book, but all it’s doing is driving people out of the space and, in turn, driving people from wanting to read the next book.

ran on 0 hours of sleep, 7 mental breakdowns in my room, tripped on the stairs, no satoru, behind on content, experiencing withdrawals, finally got my period back — but it’s heavy and a longer cycle than usual — and three exams waiting for me after the half term break 🙂

ty for asking how i’m doing anyway 😭 my line was meant to be ‘yeah i’m doing great!’ but i looked in the mirror, saw my eyebags, and couldn’t even bring myself to lie 😔
