hi i love hearing abt people's fav chesses what's your favourite chess...

oh god this is from april....... i should use desktop tumblr desktop more often. but i am always happy to talk abt chess hehe and i would love to hear ur favorite chess as well

and i forget which exact post i mentioned this BUT the like. short answer is that the kennedy center production is the closest to My Chess tho i think there are still some issues with the ending and um. the success of the book is really dependent on the actors/direction (also if anyone sees my blog now it is like. obvious why that is my fave given that raúl is in it BUT ACTUALLY i got into raúl in the first place Because of kencen chess i got affirmation of queer freddie from a professional production and never went back)

the real answer is my fave chess is the one in my head that i hallucinated after blasting to the concept album for the first time while driving through heavy fog. umm personally i'm a political manipulation boy and have a history buff dad who introduced me to the show so the cold war context is always going to strike me the most. and while i find the love triangle deeply fascinating i have next to no interest in the story as a Romance. i think that they all simultaneously bring out the best and the worst in each other which is an Insane dynamic to have & they make me spiral. i know there are 'issues' with the original london book or whatever but i actually really like the simplicity and like. range of it.

what else to say..... chess in my head is actually quite edgy. but in a deliberate way not a grungy way. which is also probably why i like kencen but don't really think the aesthetic matches. and maybe it's the concept album loyalty/really only listening to those songs for like. a year but chess can have a dry ironic sort of humor (like the merchandisers or the embassy lament) and i think as a director you should provide some lightness and space for the audience to breathe but it's not really meant to be Comedy. it's why the yogurt scene and others like it have always felt super out of place to me i think the show has had enough issues with critics/its book and isn't helped by any sort of self-aware mockery it's only weakened by it.

also they should all get to swear some.

any fascinating concept you’re studying?? ummmmm I've just finished all my uni coursework (just finishing up a prac assignment at this rate), but the most interesting thing I got to study this semester was the development of white nationalism as a culture. It was awful and somewhat traumatising at times, but thoroughly interesting in a perverse, macabre way.

i am not gonna be slowly mousing through your whole page to figure out where your links are. i’m not gonna be at like 50% zoomed out so i can see where your links are. i’m not gonna be squinting searching for that cute little star icon to find your links. i’m sick of it. if your info isn’t accessible i’m not interested. 

now if we’re already mutuals, already cool, basically if i know i can just ask you like “hey i cant nav your blog whats your rules URL?” that’s fine, that’s cool, we cool.

YOU CAN LITERALLY EDIT YOUR DESKTOP DESCRIPTION TO BE DIFFERENT THAN YOUR PREVIEW AND MOBILE AND NO ONE SEEMS TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THAT. like okay yes your mobile theme is nice. but your title is literally fuck * W O R D ! and has no description or actual defining images of your muse just like vague as hell aesthetic and a gradient into your background color. THIS IS ENTIRELY UNHELPFUL. ESPECIALLY SINCE YOUR URL PROBABLY ISN’T SPECIFIC ENOUGH FOR YOUR MUSE(S). 

anyway that just my beef like i am so tired of things being vague. 

and my suggestions for this: 

take advantage of the ability to make your desktop and preview / mobile description different. literally just in the code remove description} and add in whatever fancy quote you want while making the main site embedded description actually informational. 

if you want aesthetic just literally do like put an “(i)” or something short in your desc with a link to a post with all necessary info. many rp blogs already have post links in their mobile/preview desc’s for this purpose and it’s great. 

please for the love of god give me some clue as to where your links are. make it obvious. don’t make your links something that i can mistake for part of your background image, unless it’s like a clever overlay that might seem like a button. BASICALLY, DON’T HIDE YOUR BUTTONS. 

unless you are super super private and only want to interact with muns you’re already established with then do w/e you want but if you want are looking for new mutuals ffs PLEASE just make your info accessible

What are your top 5 study tips? c: btw great blog ♥

Okay these will probably be very random and in no particular order, sorry!

 Study with the right mindset: if you keep thinking you're too tired or there's too little time you won't be able to focus on anything

 When I’m too lazy/not concentrated enough to study I set a timer for 25 minutes. After this time I'll usually be completely immersed in my work, so I'll just set the timer again and then take a quick break!

 Learn your notes the same day you had a class. Seriously, it helps so much in the long run! It sounds like such an obvious thing to do but is actually really hard to adapt to your daily routine, especially if you were a hard procrastinator to begin with

 I love background noises when I study, but not too distracting ones, so for me it's usually tv in some foreign language or lofi music, [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pZT6NgU5OE&list=PLJiWP_BcOyda1NEBEG7Xgq_53k2_uOXR-]this[/url] and [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mgi1HmfG3y8]this[/url] are my favorites!

 If you can, open the windows for a moment before studying, or keep them open. Idk why but fresh air helps me to concentrate. The key is to make your study space comfortable but not too comfortable, we don't want you to fall asleep on your desk, right? So make sure your chair won't give you a backache and that the lighting is good!

 It may sound silly but if you need motivation it's great to have someone to look up to, be it a fictional character, a hard-working celebrity or your favorite studytube/studyblr/studygram! My personal motivation is Min Yoongi from BTS, the rare photos of him working on his music in his studio keep me going when I need a little push. And when I r e a l l y lack motivation I ask my followers for help, and they are such sweethearts about it, yelling at me to go and study and encouraging me 💕 Of course if you ever need motivation you can always hit my inbox, I'd be happy to help!

 Please, avoid all-nighters and drinking too much coffee. I know, it's tempting, but you don't want to ruin your health in the long run! Try sticking to your schedule, make to-do lists, use a planner, set notifications, anything to keep you organized enough to avoid the 3 am cramming before a test

This is just some stuff that I could think of and find helpful. It's more than 5 tips, but I hope I’ve helped even a little bit. Good luck with your studies and thank you so much!

Care about employee growth? Implement a 5 Resume Bullets Program.

Rumor is if your employees update their LinkedIn profile they must be looking for a new job opportunity. There is a lot of truth in that statement. 

Employee: I do not think about tracking my growth and accomplishments until I need to showcase it - for a new job. I know if I set goals and document them I increase the probability that I will reach them. Add to that - if I document goals real-time time I eliminate the impact of the “recency effect”, when I only think about what I recently accomplished and neglect the value of accomplishments over the period of my current employment. But, hey, I am busy! The struggle is real.

Employer: “If my employees update their LinkedIn then someone will steal them from me!” Want to know the secret? YOU have control over this! How? Help them grow WITH you instead of despite of you. 

“People leave when they don’t see opportunities for growth...Of all the job attributes young people value, opportunities to learn and grow’ comes in at number one. 87% of millennials say development is important to them, and of that group, two thirds say it’s extremely important.” (1), (2)

“Solution: Know your employees’ long-term goals and work to show them a path there.” (1)

I equate the fear of employees updating their LinkedIn to the fear of hiring people smarter than you. Both are STUPID (if you know me you know I believe in Radical Candor) (3). Don’t be stupid. 

What is the point of this blog post? 

I want you to add a “5 Resume Bullets” program to your Employee Development Program. 

What? Why? How?

WHAT?

 5 Resume Bullets Program = A BUCKET List for Careers 

This program will challenge employees to think about, document and act on the next group of skills and/or accomplishments they need to continually grow their career. (BTW - this could be their growth at your company if you also focus on internal growth. Which is a different blog post coming...).

WHY?

It matters.

See above. Reminder, ““People leave when they don’t see opportunities for growth...”(1). 

Keeping people at your company also ties to your culture. Want to learn more about building a great culture? Read my recent blog post here. (4)

HOW?

1. Meet with interested employees. Provide opportunities but be clear it takes work from the employee. It is their career.

2. Ask, “What do you want next?” Encourage them to scour LinkedIn for future positions they are interested in and document the skills required. This allows them to think, “wait, I don’t want to learn that skill at all”, “I have that skill” or “I don’t have that skill but I want it.”

3. Map it - 5 Steps at a Time. Select 5 specific items, document them and begin working on them. When a step is accomplished - they add it to their LinkedIn profile. Don’t stop! Create a new one. They should always have 5 items in their action “bucket” list.

What’s in it for me?

Grow your employees - they will stay. They will save you money (hiring and training is $$). They will recruit their friends. They will work hard and not “punch a time card”. Win:win. (Learn more here.) (4)

My philosophy is that if/when employees move on to a new opportunity they will be so badass that the new company will think, “Wow, Florence [Insert Your Company Name] rocks! Their employees are the best! They must also be the best.”

Customers and employees are your best advertisement. Marketing can be fake. Customers and employees speak the truth. Don’t be afraid of spreading that truth.

ok so monsta x … the monsta men……. so firsts of all . my good friend buddy pal karissa (who is barely on tumblr) is a big mbb but i didnt get into them bc of her though she shld get mentioned bc of her i have someone to yell about monsta x.. irl… bless her . now shes kind of relevant to this story actually in june and i was at her place with another friend and that was the day mx had their coomeback shine forever so we agreed to watch it with her :-o back then i had no interest in kpop at all so i was like hm . the whole time but their music was great in my young opinion back then since she let me listen to beautiful right after that (also jooheon in the beautiful mv caught my eye in shine forever it was minhyuk and jooheon i didnt take notice of anyone else whoops) 

that was my only mx experience until .. after i got into day6 (after being more open to kpop) my friend (a different one, boxy) she started talking about mx bc she got sucked into their wormhole .. and she would talk about mister yoo kihyun for ages which was cute (ok honestly when i first looked up pics of ki i was like whys . he her bias bssjjsjsjsks now i understand) she’d link me videos such as the daeng daeng daeng cover and kihyuns hyeya to show us how good kihyuns vocals were (which i completely ignored for awhile bc of mister minhyukku…. kihyun im so sorry i did u dirty for the longest time) and then she linked us to the funny videos i had to bold that bc . monsta x are the best comedians alive… kings of comedy . she gave us this video to watch and i lost my mind watching it beyhjsjs

this is long and dramatic only bc i love to talk but basically i got into mx bc they were fucking funny that sounds so dumb but i watched all their reality/variety shows in less than 2 weeks without knowing who each member was (i could only recognize jooheon) every episode/series has made me laugh so hard and i think because i fell for their personalities more it was easier for me to??? for them to??? become one of my favorite groups??? after that i watched all their music videos (hey all in ruined my life and burnt my crops wtf…. i love all in so much,,,,) and then proceeded to watch most of the subbed vlives/monchannel videos it was a wild time honestly and it wasnt only after a while that i started following more mx blogs and just interacting with fellow mbbs??? the click idk if u know them but theyve helped me open up to other people on here too so im really grateful to them!! in the end i just??? i mean i got into them late august and it hasnt even been 6 months but i would really give my heart and soul to monsta x theyre so kind and just really fucking sweet + talented and im so happy they got their first win!!!!!!!
