Movie Review | Pagglait (2021)
Movie: Pagglait (2021)
Genre: Comedy | Drama
IMDb Rating: 7.1/10
Tumblr media
The movie revolves around a recently widowed women, Sandhya (Sanya Malhotra), who has been married for only 5 months, to Aastik. The movie starts off with Sandhya, seemingly unaffected by her husband's death, craving for pepsi and chips, in a mourning household. She's a non-working, educated women with a MA in English, but the only earning member of her family was her deceased husband. While going through her husband's wardrobe and personal stuff, she happens to find a photograph of Aakansha Roy (Sayani Gupta), who was Aastik's ex-girlfriend. Sandhya meets Aakansha and strikes a friendship with her, during which she learns the likes and dislikes of Aastik. Until now, Sandhya had been under the the wrong impression that her husband is incapable of love just like herself, but she learns that her husband was a romantic man, who loved Aakansha, though he never cheated on Sandhya after their marriage.
This part of the movie confused me a bit. When Sandhya came to know about Aakansha, and a friendship developed between them, I was confused as to the direction the movie was proceeding to. I hoped them to bond over the mutual grief of losing Aastik, fall in love, and that the film would be portraying homosexuality, with a relationship between Sandhya and Aakansha. But eventually I realised, this part of the film intended to depict, how unaware Sandhya was, of her husband's life and it was necessary for her, to know his ex-girlfriend, in order to forgive her husband's soul.
An insurance company comes up to Sandhya, to pay her a sum of ₹50 lakh (Aastik secretly had an insurance policy and had Sandhya as his nominee), after which; her parents, who until then, were asking her to stay at her in-laws house, now forced her to walk off with the money. Her husband's cousin Aditya (Nakul Sahdev), who wants to open a restaurant and needs money for that, tries to manipulate Sandhya into thinking that he loves her and asks her to marry him. Her in-laws who has to repay the housing loan, tries to get Sandhya into marrying Aditya, and also tries to manipulate the insurance agent.
A very simple portrayal of how money changes everything in someone's life. Sandhya's parents who were urging her to stay at her in-laws house, were now pressuring her to come home and be independent, just because she got hold of a fortune. People who didn't even seem to notice her, now came up with marriage proposal and words of love; and they called it as “giving poor Sandhya a life". Though her father-in-law wasn't upto rob Sandhya of her money, the rest of his cunning family members dragged him to play dirty.
At the end of the movie, Sandhya realises that this sudden interest people had in her, is because of the money she got. She realises that Aditya doesn't love her, so she lies to him that she's pregnant with Aastik's child; and he backs off from marrying her. Sandhya writes a letter to her parents and her in-laws, that she's leaving the house to look for a job and to be as independent as Aastik, and to look after her in-laws just the way Aastik did. She also leaves the cheque of ₹50 lakh for her father-in-law to have.
The film had a satisfying end, with Sandhya realising her potential and walking away from those offering her sympathy. She proved that she doesn't have to remarry to give life a second chance and neither does she need to mourn her entire life or even pretend to be mourning, over someone, whom she obviously didn't love. And it was clear that money was of no importance to her, when she left behind that cheque. She didn't abandon her in-laws and decided to look after them, by getting a job and being independent, just the way her late husband did.
Tumblr media
This movie is worth a watch, with it's simple portrayal of a functional family, and the aftermaths of the demise of it's sole bread earning member. It also shows how futile a woman's education goes, once she's married and not allowed to work, often because her husband earns well. Also, this film delivers the message that, if a woman dared to live her life as she wishes, she'll be called a “Pagglait" (insane). But if the freedom to live your life the way you want; requires a bit of insanity, a woman shouldn't be afraid to become a Pagglait.
Sanya Malhotra once again proved herself talented, with her admirable acting skills. And not just her, the entire cast of this movie nailed the roles, given to them, throughout the movie.
Rating: 4.2/5

Conclusion As discussed above, these Electric Beaters proved to be incredibly beneficial for sleep pal who feel the need of an extra helping hand while working. Also in case you find any Electric Beater much expensive or acquiring extra space which you can't afford, there are several other options.
Earlier the tasks of stirring, whisking and beating were performed by hand because of no such technology available. But everything changed with time. Now we have an Electric Beater which makes the chopping tasks Easier. And has been playing a vital role in the kitchen works since it's arrival.
What is an Electric Beater?
An Electric Beater is a kitchen utensil also known as an Electric Hand Blender or an Electric Hand Mixer. This appliance was invented by Herbert Johnston in 1908, to facilitate the cooks and bakers by automating the repetitive tasks, saving their time and energy.
Though now they have been commonized in almost every house so it's not a big deal having one at your home.
Tumblr media
Different types of Electric Beaters
Stand Mixers Electric Hand Mixer
The Stand Mixers are constructed in such a way that their structure is easy to identify. With a mixing bowl on top of the bass they also have a variety of other attachments which can be used depending on the consistency requirements. Not only the consistency but you can also change the speed according to the type of food.
Though you may find it a little expensive, what matters the most is your health. The workload should not affect your body so we've brought this to you.
Hand Mixers - Hand Blender
Next comes the hand Mixers which may solve your space issue as well. Unlike stand Mixers, Electric Hand Mixers are smaller in size and acquire comparatively less space. They are easy to handle and can be carried from one place to another.
The only drawback is that they need full attention. So, you can't just dump all the stuff and leave them to mix on their own.
Hand Blender- Manual Mixers
Hand Blender is the one which has the ability to mix small amounts of ingredients with ease. They do not require electricity to work but you will face no difficulty by hand because they are small and lightweight and work very fluently.
Its body is made up of heavy duty plastic. An additional benefit of this type of m is that you can carry it anywhere with no need of extra space.
Hand-Stand Electric Beaters
After checking on the drawbacks and benefits of both the types- hand and Electric Stand Mixers, the inventors tried to combine both of them.
So, the new variation that took place was a Hand-Stand Beater that acquires less space, is easy to carry, can mix a large proportion of ingredients and can be left to mix without giving full attention to it.

May 2018 Book Roundup
I don’t know when I got so into thrillers--but here we are.  Of course, I’m not as into the types of thrillers that are about a cop pursuing a killer.  It’s more the insidious types of domestic thrillers that catch my attention, about idle suburbanites who secretly harbor paranoid minds and little hatreds.  That’s probably why I enjoyed “A Simple Favor” by Darcey Bell and Liv Constantine’s “The Last Mrs. Parrish”, however much they polarized readers.  They both feature horrible women, stupid men, unreliable narrators, and endings that don’t neatly tie up loose ends.  In other words, they’re perfect summer reads.
The Defiant by Lesley Livingston.  3/5.  The second in a series, The Defiant returns to the world of female gladiators and in particular Fallon.  Now triumphant and happy in a ludus run by her sister, Sorcha, Fallon expects to have it easier.  However, her life is upturned when the women of the ludus are accused of rebelling, and Sorcha goes missing.  I rated The Valiant, the first book in this series, four stars so I must have enjoyed it, but I also don’t really remember it, aside from the basic plot and being interested in Sorcha and Fallon’s relationship.  I would still say that the sister relationship is the core focus of the plot, which is different (and distracts from a fairly shallow romance between Fallon and Cai, a Roman soldier; there’s an opportunity for something cooler, but the author bypasses that completely).  But I think I’m over this series; this book drove home that it skews too young for me to enjoy it.  The gladiatrix thing is cool, but there’s so much in this book about how the ludus is home, and like... hasn’t everyone been enslaved by Romans to some degree?  Taken from their homelands?  Forced into a blood sport to be entertainment?  It’s fun, and I won’t say that it isn’t without merits, but this is too shallow for what it takes on.
Fatal Throne by Candace Fleming et. al.  4/5.  A collaborative novel from the perspectives of all six of Henry VIII’s queens--and Henry himself.  What impressed me about this book was how it wasn’t really straightforward.  It seems like it might be at first; Catherine of Aragon’s section kicks it off by detailing the beginning of Catherine’s life in England, up until her marriage is collapsing.  Now, don’t think that this makes it a bad story; I quite liked it.  Catherine of Aragon is, in this version, for once more than a stereotypical zealot queen, though the author does that thing where a character whose native tongue is Spanish constantly throws random Spanish words into English sentences, which doesn’t feel real.  But anyway; many of the other stories are less traditional.  All revolve around the queens’ downfalls or deaths; for example, Anne (or Anna, as she’s called here) of Cleves has a story that really centers around her dying days, and the ghosts of her past.  There’s a weird, haunting creepiness to everything.  Though there are some rather shallow moments--including one bit in the Anne Boleyn story that seemed... pretty off--and there isn’t any reinventing of the wheel, it’s a sad retelling of the wives’ story, where the central villain is undeniably Henry VIII.
Ash Princess by Laura Sebastian.  2/5.  Theodosia was a child when she was forced to witness the murder of her mother, the queen of Astrea.  Since then she’s been beaten and terrorized in the submission by the conquering Kaiser, forced to live as Lady Thora, the Ash Princess.  The combination of being forced to commit a terrible act and the reappearance of a childhood friend wakes Thora to the reality of her people’s suffering, and spurs her to action.  She’s given a task: seduce the crown prince, and kill him.  So yeah, pretty typical fantasy stuff, but that doesn’t mean it has to be bad.  What makes it bad is Theo’s flip-flopping as a character and a truly dismal love triangle.  Neither romance feels real, and Theo’s constantly between dithering and acting like... Stormborn-lite.  Oh, yes.  The GoT influence is strong in this one.  I just wish it had been more interesting.
Love and Ruin by Paula McLain.  3/5.  The turbulent romance between Ernest Hemingway and his third wife, writer Martha Gellhorn, is told from Gellhorn’s perspective.  I remember really liking McLain’s version of Hemingway’s first marriage, “The Paris Wife”, but that was so long ago that I can’t remember much of it.  And for that matter, that marriage--which occurred during Hemingway’s years as part of the Lost Generation in Paris--was a very different animal from what he shared with Gellhorn.  You get the expected beats--Gellhorn and Hemingway meeting, her being initially starstruck while harboring her own ambitions, their work during the Spanish Civil War, the affair that led to a marriage, and that marriage’s destruction because Hemingway was incapable of holding a decent relationship and Gellhorn’s fierce independence kept her from being the idealized wife he wanted--but while the writing is pretty... the expectedness keeps the book from being more than exactly what it is.  And though obviously Gellhorn was a good bit younger than Hemingway and obviously her love for him and hero worship of him allowed to overlook shit long enough to up and marry the guy...  I just don’t really buy that Martha Gellhorn would speak and act the way McLain seems to think she did.  She’s so over the top as a young woman in love.  The book is fine, it’s just uninspired.
Trespassing by Brandi Reeds. 4/5.  Veronica is at her wit’s end, caring for a toddler while her husband is often gone for work as a pilot, while at the same time pumping herself full of hormones for her fertility treatments in order to have a second child.  Still traumatized by the miscarriage she suffered recently, she is shocked when her husband, Micah, doesn’t come home--on the same day that their daughter claims that “Daddy went to God Land”.  Swept up in a mess of emotions and falling under suspicion from the police, Veronica flees with her daughter to the Florida Keys, where her husband had a house in her name.  But the island life presents even more questions.  Who are the children in the photos she finds, and why is Micah with them?  This is a solid, engaging thriller that somehow is at its most disturbing when you consider the fact that Veronica’s mind is rattled in part because of what she’s put her body through via fertility treatments.  Veronica is sympathetic, and rather than stupidly accepting things like thriller protagonists often do, she’s paranoid, protective, never quite trusting anyone.  Why should she?  While I won’t say that the reveal in the end is one of the best I’ve read, the story as a whole is very interesting, and I appreciated the fact that Reeds really delved into the mind of a woman with a bit of feminine body horror--like, in a sensitive way.  It’s different.  The book is as much about Veronica’s identity as anything else.
The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine.  4/5.  Amber envies the lives of glamorous trophy wives, none of them more than Daphne Parrish.  Daphne has it all: a handsome, doting, extraordinarily wealthy husband, two daughters, and all of the possessions she could desire.  So she begins her plan: befriend Daphne under the guise of a homely, Pollyanna type and steal her life.  But as Amber becomes closer to Daphne, she constantly has to look over her shoulder for ghosts from her past that could disrupt her plan.  Little does she know that the real danger could be closer than she thinks.  This book was kind of disturbing and definitely does not have the type of ending that will leave you.... feeling morally good.  But it’s juicy. It’s Big Little Lies kind of juicy, about vaguely psychotic women with rich and famous lives.  Frankly, I would have appreciated more development of the female characters aside from Amber and Daphne, but the two of them were great as is.  You spend about half the book in Amber’s mind, and she is HEINOUS.  But in an interesting, darkly funny way.  The book isn’t going to be for everyone, but I found it extremely entertaining.
Next Year in Havana by Chanel Cleeton.  2/5.  Marisol has never been to Cuba, the homeland her grandmother, Elisa, fled as a young woman.  She returns to scatter Elisa’s ashes after the death of Fidel Castro.  However, she didn’t expect to connect with Luis, a historian and dissenter in the current regime--nor did she expect to discover that her grandmother had an affair with a revolutionary.  This book has a lot to say about Cuban politics; and I value that.  But unfortunately, the political backdrop takes over the story, which is very paint by numbers.  Nothing surprising happens.  The characters are dry.  I wish I loved it, but I just didn’t.
From Twinkle, with Love by Sandhya Menon.  3/5.  Teenage Twinkle is an aspiring filmmaker, out of sorts as her relationship with her best friend Maddie--newly popular while Twinkle remains a bit of nerd--deteriorates.  She’s surprised when Sahil--the shy twin brother of her crush, Neil--asks her to collaborate on him on a gender-flipped version of Dracula, but it isn’t long before she’s starting to look at Sahil in a very different way.  At the same time, however, she’s corresponding via email with her secret admirer, N--who she very much suspects is Neil.  What is Twinkle to do?  I loved Menon’s debut, When Dimple Met Rishi, and I’m still very excited for the spinoff of that book.  It was a perfect little romcom.  This was not.  This book read much younger--and Twinkle and Sahil are a bit younger than Dimple and Rishi were.  But their voices were also VERY immature, and in general it just... missed the mark for me.  I think someone younger would love this book.  It did touch on several really great threads, especially with Twinkle’s family.  But I didn’t feel the same thing I felt with WDMR at all.
Furyborn by Claire Legrand.  4/5.  When her best friend Prince Audric finds his life endangered, Rielle saves him--exposing herself as capable of wielding all seven types of elemental magic.  There are two people foretold to have this gift; one will be a queen who brings light and salvation, while the other holds blood and destruction.  Put to the test in a series of trials, Rielle must prove exactly which one she is.  A thousand years later, bounty hunter Eliana is shocked to find her mother kidnapped, with the only person who can help find her being a rebel leader.  In joining up with him, Eliana defies the empire she’s worked for--and puts herself in terrible danger.  This book is an interesting one; the two narratives you’re following are focused heavily on their respective leads, and neither woman is traditionally “good”.  Eliana has the charm of being a tortured rogue, at least--Rielle is more complex, obsessed with adulation and self-centered to the point of callousness.  But I enjoyed both of them, with Eliana’s story picking up a few points over Rielle’s towards the end... which was a pleasant surprise, as at first I wasn’t sure if Eliana’s side of things would measure up to Rielle’s.  There is a lot amgoing on, so things can get a bit confusing--and this makes the middle drag a bit.  But the ending left me dying for more, with the only other complaint I can make being that Legrand could work on her sex scenes a tad.  But if you’re looking for a female-centered story with a few guys who are all about that undying devotion thing, plus a sexy villain and moral ambiguity, I recommend this one highly.
One Match Fire by Lissa Linden.  2/5.  Twelve years ago, Paul and Amy were camp counselors--and he broke her heart.  Now Amy is back to run the camp after Paul quits, though they don’t realize that they’ll be meeting up again until she’s at his door, physically different but emotionally still affected by what happened between them during their teen years.  Both frustrated and with few other options, they make a deal: until Paul leaves, they’ll have a purely sexual relationship.  But Paul wants to know what really has Amy rattled--and he doesn’t want to leave anymore.  I like romance, I like erotica--I wasn’t sure how to categorize this book, as most of it is graphic sex but I don’t know, the erotica bells weren’t quite ringing for me--but I still need stakes.  They don’t need to be fantasy stakes.  They don’t need to be thriller stakes.  It could be that the family business is about to go under; it could be that the leads are dueling lawyers.  STAKES.  This book has no stakes.  I thought that Paul did something super shitty when these (28 year old) people were kids, but like... it was a bit douchey, but tons of people were dicks to me in high school, I was a dick back, and I don’t remember much of it.  Certainly, I found Amy’s reaction a bit over the top.  At the same time, Paul was--very shortly into this sexual relationship--being like “give yourself to me emotionally Amy” and I was like lmao dude why y’all haven’t spoken there is no reason for you to be so invested in this woman.  He was so pushy, it really irked me.  The sex scenes were okay.  “Will these two people run a camp together” just wasn’t a big enough question to keep me interested.
A Simple Favor by Darcey Bell.  4/5.  Widowed, neurotic mommy blogger Stephanie has found the best friend of her dreams in Emily Nelson, a wealthy publicity exec with a handsome husband and beloved son Nicky, who happens to be the best friend of Stephanie’s son Miles.  So when Emily asks Stephanie for a “simple favor”--to watch Nicky for a few hours after school--Stephanie doesn’t hesitate to do so.  But when Emily doesn’t show to pick Nicky up--when she isn’t even home by the time her husband Sean returns from a business trip--Stephanie goes on red alert.  It isn’t long before the police find Emily’s body; and it also isn’t long before Stephanie begins taking her place.  As Stephanie begins receiving odd messages, the question is impossible to avoid: what really happened to Emily Nelson?  Alternating between Stephanie’s blog posts and the characters’ perspectives, “A Simple Favor” is one of those thrillers that is kind of balls to the wall insane.  You can expect to find that Emily wasn’t all that she appeared to be.  But Stephanie’s secrets are just as great, if not greater.  I’ve seen a common complaint regarding this book regarding the fact that none of the characters are good people.  For me, that just made it more delicious.  Emily is this enigmatic, alluring figure luring over the entire story, and you just can’t shake her appeal.

Week of Bookblr: Worst of 2017
Last year a lot of the books I put on my Worst list weren’t that bad. I didn’t really hate any of the books on last year’s list. This year I really hated some of the books. This is just my personal opinion. Don’t get your knickers in a twist.
There will be spoilers for all these books.
I’m also going to do something slightly different this year. I have one dishonorable mention. This book wasn’t bad enough to put in my top five but I feel like it needs to be mentioned.
Dishonorable Mention:
Brave by Svetlana Chmakova
Tumblr media
★★☆☆☆
I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not an objective book reviewer. But I feel like I don’t like part of the reason that I didn’t like this book was because I’m no in the age demographic. I don’t expect Chmakova write for me, a 20 year old who is thankful to be out of middle school.
On the other hand this book does have legitimate problems. All of the characters are annoying with exception of a few side characters. And the message got overly preachy to the point that I think it would annoy even middle schoolers. The last book, I thought the message was clear for the younger readers but didn’t beat you over the head with it.
I think I may continue with the series because the next one is supposed to be about the one side character I did like.
Now for the actual Top Five list!
#5 Monstress Vol. 1 by Marjorie M Liu and Sana Takeda
Tumblr media
★★★☆☆
It was very meh. Granted I read this book at the beginning of the year so I don’t remember a lot of it. I’m also giving this book some slack because I read this book before I learned how to properly read graphic novels and retain the information. The art was absolutely beautiful. I debated between putting this in my top five or putting Tokyo Ghoul Vol. 1 in there but ultimately I chose this one because it’s premise wasn’t interesting enough for me to continue on with this series and I unhauled it.
#4 Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han
Tumblr media
★★★☆☆
This was a combination of not remembering a lot of what happened in the first two books and having grown out of this series. But this book also had problems on it’s own. For one thing Margot was awful in this book. She’s so rude to her father. Margot announced that her and her boyfriend are sleeping in the same room when any rational human being would know that would make her father super uncomfortable. You’re supposed to be the mature one, Margot. If I was her, I’d at least ask him in private if this were okay. Yknow, like an adult. This is your dad’s house, have a little respect. Also, Jenny Han sucks as antagonists. Like Peter’s mom wanted LJ to break up with him for…reasons. I just unhauled this series because I didn’t care anymore.
#3 A Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan
Tumblr media
★★☆☆☆
BORING! B-O-R-I-N-G BORING! Mind numbingly BORING!
It had pretty art and had some clever formatting ideas but oh my god it was boring. I didn’t care about the characters or the plot. When it’s about discovering stuff about dragons. How do you make dragons boring? All I remember from this book is that the husband dies and it’s kind of sad.
#2 The Future of Us by Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler
Tumblr media
★☆☆☆☆
Now we’re getting into the books that I really hated with a passion. I could rant about this book all day long. I really enjoyed What Light and 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher. This was a huge disappointment. There are plot threads that are started and then just never finished. How’d they get Facebook? I dunno. Josh’s brother being gay? Doesn’t go anywhere. I think the problem is that Jay Asher doesn’t have a writing style that lends itself well to writing with someone else. Because he goes through a lot of plot points. He starts one, quickly ends it and moves onto another one. The problem is that Carolyn Mackler doesn’t seem to finish them.
That’s not the only problem, oh god is Emma so unlikable. And what makes it worse is that Emma will do horrible things and the writers portray her as being in the right. When Emma sees her future and she doesn’t like it, she completely disregards Josh’s feelings to get a better future. She keeps fucking up the future for her own selfish reasons. In the beginning it’s established that before the book begins Josh admitted that he has feelings for her and she rejects him. Later in the book, in order to change her future she kisses him. She knows fully fucking well that he has feelings for her and to do that is so horrible. Then JOSH IS IN THE WRONG FOR TELLING HER WHAT AN AWFUL PERSON SHE IS. Fuck Emma. But, Emma isn’t the worst character on this list. Oh no.
#1 When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon
Tumblr media
★☆☆☆☆
Yeah, I knew the moment I finished this that there was no way anything could top this horrible book.
It’s actually kind of baffling how bad this book is. Throughout it I thought I was being trolled. Like there’s no possible way that an author could be this incompetent. There’s two major problems with this book: it’s inconsistent and Dimple is an awful human being.
Let’s start with the “smaller” of the problems, the consistency. Dimple has straight contradictory personality traits. She is presented as being shy, nerdy, introverted, someone who gets bullied, and can’t stand up for herself. Yet, she likes to go to parties, is more than willing to go to a college party where she knows one person (something any introvert would never do), is super sassy and speaks her mind. What? Why is that she can be super sassy to Rishi and do things just to make the audience go “YASSS QUEEN SLAY” yet she can’t tell the most pointless bullies in the entire universe to fuck off? It’s not like this happens over time, her personality just completely flips. This completely ruins any conflict whatsoever.
While I haven’t seen anyone complain about it, supposedly people are saying that Dimple was a bitch for throwing the ice coffee in Rishi’s face. I don’t think that makes Dimple a bitch, I think it’s part of the inconsistency problem. The characters’ personalities, motivations, and relationships will just be different for no reason. So in the beginning Rishi is worried that he’s growing apart from his little brother. Rishi asks for advice for what to do when he meets Dimple. His brother jokingly says “say ‘hello my future wife’”. Okay so that makes sense that Rishi would ask his brother because he’s been out with girls and it’s establish that Rishi doesn’t know when his brother is being silly or serious. Later in the book his brother comes to the college and Rishi states that his brother “never takes anything seriously” and he doesn’t care about working on their relationship. So, why would you take your brother’s advice seriously if you know he doesn’t take anything seriously? Why do you suddenly want to kill your brother? Where did this come from?
Now the bigger problem with this book is Dimple herself. She is physically abusive and the author is passing this off as “female empowerment”. Dimple punches Rishi in the ribs for playfully teasing her. At no point is she a mature young adult who goes up to Rishi and says “Hey, Rishi, what you’re doing is making me uncomfortable/hurting my feelings, please stop.” She just goes straight into physically attacking him. The second time Rishi says something along the lines of “most girls just playfully slap their boyfriends not actually hurt them” and Dimple’s response is “you should change what you think is acceptable for girls”. What?? Go fuck yourself. This is a horrible message. I cannot imagine if the roles were reversed and a guy punched a girl in the ribs for teasing him. No. Fuck you. No one should assault anyone.
Finally this book is so bad that I can’t tell if some parts are bad because Dimple, along with a massive abusive shit, she’s a giant hypocrite. Or its just more inconsistency. In beginning of the book Dimple says the only reason that her parents are letting her go to the Ivy League school (I know, poor oppressed baby) is so she can find the Ideal Indian Husband. When we meet her father, he clearly doesn’t really care and wants her to win the convention contest. Okay, so maybe it’s just her mother. But even then that doesn’t make sense because, it’s establish that Dimple’s family doesn’t have that much money. So, why would they send her to an Ivy League school to find an IIH when they know about Rishi? If her mother really didn’t care about her having a career than would she just be like “we’re not spending GOD KNOWS HOW MUCH money for you to go to this school, you’re marrying Rishi Patel, end of story”. Even at the end the mother says she just wants Dimple to be happy. So WHERE DID THIS IIH THING HAPPEN? Is Dimple just a moron who doesn’t know her mother’s own motivation or did the author just forget part of the main conflict of the story?
Another weird one is for some reason a competition about coding has a talent show. And if you win this talent show you get a leg up in the completion…about coding. Because y’know that makes sense! But that’s not the big problem here. So Dimple has stage fright but still wants the leg up in the competition. So she basically pouts, putting peer pressure on Rishi, until he finally agrees to do most of the work in their dance. First off, because that’s equality men doing most of the work. Why are we letting YA authors talk about serious topics against when their concept of gender equality is “girls go to college to get more knowledge/boys go to Jupiter to more stupider”? But it gets worst because right after Dimple pressures Rishi into this stupid dance, her friend Celia runs out of the classroom. Her group is forcing Celia to wear a sexy swimsuit in their dance because that’ll win a coding competition. Dimple says basically “don’t let them peer pressure you into doing something that you don’t want to do”. What the fuck did you just do to Rishi, Dimple? Is this just Dimple being a massive hypocrite or did the author forget what she just wrote? DID ANYONE PROOF READ THIS BOOK?

I was going to post a top 10 books I read in 2017 post earlier, but then I forgot how to do the HTML for cuts and I’m usually on mobile so oops. I've tried to include plot summaries and content warnings but I may have missed stuff in a few of them, just FYI.
1. LITTLE FIRES EVERYWHERE by Celeste Ng Tensions rise in a picturesque Cleveland suburb when a custody battle erupts surrounding a Chinese-American baby and her adoptive parents vs. birth mother. (content warnings: racism including "benevolent" racism, slut shaming from certain characters, descriptions of child neglect) 2. RAMONA BLUE by Julie Murphy Ramona questions elements of her identity when her childhood friend Freddie shows up in her life again. She also has to deal with her neglectful mother, overworked father, and pregnant older sister. (cw: racism/discussions of anti-black racism, alcoholism, parental abuse) 3. WHEN DIMPLE MET RISHI by Sandhya Menon Two Indian-American teens are set up in an arranged marriage by their parents, but only one of them knows about it. Then they meet each other at a national coding competition and (spoilers?) fall in love. 4. THE GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO VICE AND VIRTUE by Mackenzie Lee Monty, the son of a British lord, is expected to follow in his father's footsteps, but can't seem to keep himself out of trouble. He's allowed one last hurrah over the summer: a tour of Europe with his sister Felicity and best friend Percy (who he just happens to be in love with). But just days into his adventure, he unwittingly steals an invaluable item and gets them all into more trouble than he ever imagined. (cw: period-typical racism, period-typical homophobia/biphobia, ableism) 5. DUMPLIN' by Julie Murphy Willowdean Dickson lives in a town that's pretty much governed by the local teen beauty pageant - and her mom just *happens* to be the organizer and most famous former winner. She's fat, proud, and sick of people being assholes to her because of it, and she decides she's going to enter the beauty pageant because nobody's told her she can't. (cw: fatphobia, bullying) 6. AUTOBOYOGRAPHY by Christina Lauren Tanner's queer and lives in the middle of Mormontown, USA (aka Salt Lake City). He just wants to graduate and get out - until he goes to the first day of his senior writing class and meets Sebastian, the hot class TA and also the son of the local pastor. (cw: religious homophobia) 7. ALLEGEDLY by Tiffany D. Jackson Mary B. Addison has been in juvvie and then group homes since she was nine for killing a baby. Allegedly. Now sixteen, she's doing her best to get by with the conviction hanging over her. Then she finds out she's pregnant, and there's no way she's giving up her baby to the state, or even worse, to her neglectful addict mother. Now she's got a real reason to try and clear her name. (cw: racism, several graphic scenes of child abuse, discussion of child sexual abuse, one graphic description of animal death, fatphobia and homophobia from narrator) 8. THE GIRL FROM EVERYWHERE by Heidi Heilig Nix has spent her life aboard her father's ship, which he uses to sail to any place and time he can find a map for. She's been, well, everywhere. Still, he searches tirelessly for a map that will take him to 1868 Honolulu, where he can be reunited with his lost love: Nix's mother. Nix fears that if he returns to her mother, she may cease to exist. (cw: period-typical racism) 9. STAR-CROSSED by Barbara Dee Eighth-grader Mattie is thrilled when she's cast as Romeo opposite new girl (and her new crush) Gemma in her school's play. She can't wait to show off her acting skills, especially since Gemma's one of the few people to actually try to understand Shakespeare too. But she's also a little confused; she liked Eli too, what does that mean? Are you allowed to like boys AND girls? (there are no content warnings that I can remember, this book is just adorable) 10. WHEN THE MOON WAS OURS by Anna-Maria McLemore When she was a little girl, Miel spilled out of the water tower with flowers growing out of her wrists, and the only person in town unafraid of her was Sam. They've grown up together, and Miel knows Sam's every secret, but she's still hesitant to share some of hers with him. Soon, she may have to, though, as elements of her past reappear and new threats loom in the form of the intimidating Bonner sisters. (cw: transphobia, racism, violence, self-harm, some parental abuse)

When Dimple Met Rishi - Sandhya Menon - Book Review
Tumblr media
Dimple really doesn’t want to get married…but her arranged marriage partner Rishi, really does. This leads to drama, pining and romance. Though it starts off well, it gets super muddled along the way. Dimple is a chick with a fiery temper and all she wants to do is develop apps. When she finds an opportunity to develop her talent at a university getaway app development workshop, she jumps at it. Little did she know about the strings attached to her parents easy going nature regarding the getaway trip. Really, they were just trying to play matchmakers. Rishi, the fiancee is also being shipped off to the workshop to meet his one true love, or so he thought…
This is a cute take on Indian arranged marriages in the modern day, outside of India. Being Indian myself, I found it cool understanding the little bits of Hindi interspersed between the book, but I thought it was kind of unnecessary to include those bits for non-Hindi speakers. Oh well, my perspective anyway. So let’s start off with the romance. It’s certainly not insta-love because the heroine of the story is super reluctant to lose her independence and settle down whilst the guy sure is, because he has seen the success of his parent’s marriage. It’s filled with a gradual escalation of reluctant romance, but the ‘surprising’ secret that comes up when they really start to like each other isn’t quite so surprising at all. I feel like the impact was missing for me.
Rishi is a responsible type. He’s super devoted to his family and pretty responsible, chivalrous and charming. So much so, that it sometimes felt overdone. Like it felt surreal, the lengths he went to, just to stick it out for an arranged marriage with someone who was so not interested. Dimple on the other hand is so adamant about setting up her future in app development that she really does not stop to think about how she needs balance in her life and her relationships aren’t to blame for everything that goes wrong. Towards the end a bunch of drama goes down and her illogical decisions, casting blame and her one-track mindedness really got on my nerves. Other than these two extremes of their personalities, the characters tend to balance each other out and do create a cute romantic comedy style story.
Dimple and Rishi’s adventures of the university lifestyle were pretty accurate to me and they were quite fun to read. From a bonding photoshoot session around the campus, to university parties, to awkward dinners with some other catty teenagers, the characters managed to infuse fun into these moments to portray a ‘somewhat’ realistic representation of university lifestyle. Some stuff felt like it was thrown in randomly for no reason like the random talent competition that contributed to winning the app development competition. I failed to see the link between the two. It did create some cute moments for the two, learning to dance with each other to the tunes of ‘Dance pe chance,’ another song I was familiar with haha!
I could totally understand the parental pressure on careers side of things from Rishi’s point of view, as I feel it’s a pretty big norm in Indian families. There’s a set of predetermined ‘successful’ careers that offspring are allowed to choose and if a kid wants to go against this list…well let’s just say, all hell breaks loose. I’m so glad that this book portrayed the teenage struggle of wanting to pursue the most fulfilling, yet risky career and going against the wishes of parents because it’s a situation that hits way too close to home and isn’t really talked about.
The stuff that goes down between Rishi’s brother and Dimple’s friend was just so totally random and felt quite unnecessary and awkward in the story. Though Rishi’s reaction to Dimple’s snooping felt pretty expected, Dimple’s reaction to the drama that unfolds towards the end makes her seem super confused and kind of childish, the way she lashes out, even though she ends up getting what she always wanted. It felt like the conflict between the two came to a head too late in the novel, the honeymoon period lasted too long…or should I say the ‘are we dating or are we not dating?’ period. They never really ended up fleshing out their issues and the way in which things wrapped up felt TOTALLY eye roll worthy, I so don’t appreciate the sixth sense coincidental lovers meeting each other at the same place at the right time thingy that seems to happen in so many movies, so I wasn’t a happy chappy when it happened here.
All in all, this was an easy read that does whisk you away on a somewhat accurate portrayal of being an Indian teenager outside of India and though the romance is not overwhelmingly exciting, it’s definitely portrayed in a realistic and cute way.

THE PASTOR.
@unspeaxables. everyone, you have pastor alexis to thank for this wedding. she not only encouraged me to make my 1k follower celebration wedding-themed (because i’m a dork like that), she also helped me plan my wedding with wedding questions and excitement and all-around fun. besides helping me with the wedding preparations, there are some things you should know about alexis. she is a lot of fun. she is great at cheering people up. she’s super sweet. she’s open-minded, and willing to engage in any conversation or talk about any topic. her passion for the harry potter characters is contagious.. i am going to say this lots, but i don’t know what i did to deserve such good friends on tumblr - she’s truly a sweetheart; an angel with a kind soul, and i am grateful to have met her.
alexis also helped me come up with the name for my first son: achilleo. ignore the fact that both gregory and i are male and cannot have children shhh what is logic.
MAID(S) OF HONOUR.
@hermioneganger. AVA. MY LOVELY AVA. THE AVA WHO RULES MY DRAGON KINGDOM NEXT TO ME. there is so much to say about ava. ava was the first person i spoke to on when i made this tumblr, and she was so kind and welcoming and she’s been beside me ever since as a friend and that was a stroke of luck on my part to meet her so soon and be lucky enough to get along with her. she’s always positive and kind and excited and it always pumps me up for everything too. ava is an honest-to-god blessing, a tumblr angel. she’s always willing to look over my stuff and then get me pumped up and proud of it by being supportive and telling me her honest opinion of it. honestly, i don’t know what i would do without ava’s constant support. well, i do: i probably would never post anything.
@nviles. julia deserves all the love. honestly. she’s so sweet and precious and such a kind soul -- she’s always brightening my day with these cute little thoughtful messages that she leaves me and these headcanons about character and these beautiful edits and these interesting stories about her life. she’s also, like, super open-minded about new ideas and that’s so cool. and she lets me sneak into the ravenclaw dorm; we have a niffler named nev and a bowtruckle named noot together and they are best friends and she makes sure that i don’t accidentally kill my bowtruckle noot because i’m horrible with plants. she also supports my marriage to gregory goyle. enough said. ♥
BRIDESMAIDS / GROOMS.
@auroremus. @delacouvr. @starrylovegood. @aurrorevans. @rvvenclaws. @siruisblack. @vveirdsisters. @holy-snitch. @howlingremus. @chrlieweasleys. these are my very-special mention blogs. all of these blogs are aesthetically gorgeous and top-notch, but on top of that (and more importantly, to me) all of these bloggers are super sweet and super kind and just phenomenal human beings to interact with. like, let’s go in order.
bruna is hilarious and thoughtful and adorable, claire is a total doll who can always make me smile even if she doesn’t know it, alex can make me laugh at anytime and she also inspires me, joanna is willing to go on wild headcanon rides with me and she definitely pushes me to be more creative and think outside the box and develop my ideas further, rae encourages me to broaden my horizons with amazing book recommendations and this intellectual conversation not just harry-potter based (though she’s afk right now and i miss her), charlie surprises me a lot with random shit and makes me laugh, teresa’s creativity pushes me to develop myself and my own creativity more and also spurs my passion for things i love that i sometimes feel insecure about, nana is super sweet and even though we haven’t spoken much she’s another one of those people who pushes me to actually develop my ideas and put things into action instead of just thinking about them, and sandhya is another one of those bloggers that i haven’t spoken to as much as i would like but from what i have she’s super sweet and supportive and funny and her blog is to die for and was one of the first i followed when i joined. all of these people are just... ahhh. then there’s vaan, the cool dragon uncle who is a total sweetheart and hilarious in the percyprotectionnet chat and so friendly and sweet and who also pushes me to expand my creativity from just “thinking” to actually “doing”. they are just great, and they make my experience with this blog so much more alive and personal and fun.
BLOGROLL.
i started off writing each and every url here... but i soon realized that i follow a lot of amazing souls, and i don’t want to leave a single one of them out. so please, check them all out here !!

Holly’s Mock Recommendations - April 9, 2019
Mock Newbery
Not If I Can Help It [Scholastic Press, $16.99, hc] by Carolyn Mackler - Willa's life is organized just the way she needs it to be. At home she has Dad and her brother, Benji. On the weekends she has Mom and Mom's husband, Bill. At school she has her best friend, Ruby. Still, life isn't easy for Willa. She has a sensory processing disorder. That means there are some days when she just can't deal with the feeling of clothes or the texture of food. There are days when she has total meltdowns, and her small bedroom is the only place where she feels she can let go if she needs to. But now Dad has fallen in love with Ruby's mom. They're planning to get married, and Sandhya and Ruby are planning to move into Willa's family's apartment. Willa loves Ruby and her mom, but she doesn't want them around all the time, able to see what she's like when she's not holding it all together. So, as far as Willa is concerned, this is just not going to happen. A perceptive look at what the child with sensory issues has to deal with.

Wings [Atheneum Books for Young Readers, $17.99, hc] by Cheryl B Klein and Tomie DePaolo - In this nearly wordless story, a cheerful pink bird tries out its wings for the first time and does a head-over-heels drop into a puddle. But it checks for damage and shakes itself off, then it goes hunting for a worms to bring back to the nest, and does a much better job flying up than down. A cute story about facing the scary stuff and learning to do it on your own.

Noah Builds an Ark [Candlewick Press, $16.99, hc] by Kate Banks and John Rocco - Noah is the first to see the black clouds coming. The storm is supposed to be a big one, so Noah's father gets his tools out and boards up the windows. Noah gets his own tools out and builds a small ark. Noah's mother and sister unload canned goods into the cupboard, and Noah prepares a tray of nuts and berries for the ark. Two by two, the inhabitants of their small garden board Noah's ark: toads and snakes and spiders and birds. For four days, the rain fills the yard with water, but the ark rides the waves. A thoughtful, charmingly illustrated parallel to the original Noah's ark.

This Singapore startup is trying to grow seafood in a lab, and lobster will be way cheaper if it succeeds, Defence Online
According to its creators, apart from becoming much less environmentally detrimental, lab-grown lobster is so more healthy for you, as it does not incorporate microplastics and other most cancers-resulting in compounds at times discovered in seafood.
Pixabay
Seafood enthusiasts, superior news: inexpensive lobster could soon be on its way to your plate.
The catch? The magnificent, delectable meat won’t be pried from the shell of a lifeless crustacean, but developed in a lab working with just a handful of cells.
In accordance to its creators, apart from remaining a lot less environmentally harming, lab-grown lobster meat is also more healthy for you, as it does not consist of microplastics and other cancer-leading to compounds sometimes located in seafood.
Shiok Meats, the Singapore-dependent startup powering the plan, is presently doing work to great its system for lab-grown shrimp to start with, which will be all set to strike diners’ plates in 18 to 24 months.
It will then begin looking into lab-developed lobster and crab meat, with prototypes envisioned by 2021 at the earliest, founder Sandhya Sriram instructed Defence On the net.
Shiok Meats founders  Ling Ka Yi, 31, and Sandhya Sriram, 33. Equally women are former stem cell biologists from A*Star, the Government’s science and engineering analysis agency.
Shiok Meats
To “grow” a piece of meat in the lab, the team should initial extract stem cells from an animal’s muscle tissue, multiply them, then wait for them to acquire.
It normally takes Sriram, 33, and co-founder Ling Ka Yi, 31, about six to eight months to isolate the stem cells essential. Both are previous stem cell biologists from A*Star (the Government’s science and engineering study company).
The duo are doing the job to add texture and condition to their shrimp meat, which at this time resembles mincemeat. They most recently utilised it to make siew mai (a kind of Chinese dumpling) as a sample for their traders.
youtube
“People emailed us asking where to purchase it”
Shiok Meats options to promote its shrimp to high-conclusion places to eat in this article, just like competitor Extremely hard Meals has done.
The startup has now inked promotions with hotels and a food items shipping platform for the meat, and ideas to provide it in supermarkets once manufacturing expenditures are small adequate to contend with mass-market selling prices.
Presently, a kilogram of lab-developed shrimp charges S$5,000 to produce, but Sriram predicts this figure will drop to just S$50 by upcoming 12 months, a 99 per cent reduction in value.
This is for the reason that most of the expenses come from purchasing society media, a nutrient option the cells mature in – and the startup intends to make (and market) its personal plant-primarily based society media for as little as S$1 a litre in the potential, she instructed The Straits Occasions.
If Shiok Meats distributes its lobster meat the similar way as its shrimp meat, it could mean decrease charges for consumers, as part of lobster meat’s astronomical price lies in the reality the animal have to be transported alive to steer clear of bacterial infections. Shiok Meats will also be ready to run exams on their lobster meat to assure it meets food stuff security specifications.
Sriram, a vegetarian and a self-professed foods lover, mentioned she made the decision to enterprise into lab-developed meat as it mixed her stem mobile awareness with a need to conserve the setting for long run generations – which include her 6-year aged son, Aarav – to delight in.
The founders decided on seafood as most gamers in the field are now tackling pink meat. Shiok Meats is Southeast Asia’s first cell-centered seafood business.
Although the shrimp haven’t strike the marketplace yet, Sriram said Singaporeans are incredibly energized about the solution, and the business has been peppered with emails from the general public, cooks and enterprises inquiring the place to obtain or attempt it.
There was even a pet proprietor who wanted to acquire the antibiotic-no cost meat as pet food stuff.
“Singaporeans have a more global mentality, a broader palate, and are accepting of novel foods,” Sriram claimed.
“A ton of folks told us that we had been crazy”
To date, the 6-gentleman startup has managed to elevate US$4.6 million in funding, of which 50 percent a million bucks will be expended on equipment. A key investor is Big Idea Ventures, a venture firm funding over 100 businesses functioning to make substitute meat.
But no traders in Singapore – or across Asia – ended up eager on the strategy in its early stages, as the organization did not have a prototype.
“We jumped in not even figuring out if we could make any meat out of the cells,” Sriram explained. “A ton of individuals explained to us that we were being ridiculous. But we have been passionate about the idea and self-confident in our qualities.”
The founders at first elevated US$10,000 from a solitary US investor, all of which was invested on study. (They also went without having fork out for four months.) Funding subsequently rose to US$600,000 many thanks to investors from the US, Australia and Hong Kong.
The firm only commenced acquiring notice from community traders soon after it debuted its siew mai in March. Fascinated get-togethers now involve Temasek Holdings, the Singapore Food stuff Agency, the Financial Improvement Board, and Enterprise Singapore.
After Singapore, the business strategies to offer its items in Hong Kong, India, Australia and New Zealand, but is waiting to protected “strong partnerships” in advance of it enters China.
In 10 years, it hopes to swap standard shrimp meat completely with the lab-grown selection, and instruct shrimp farmers how to develop it, so they can use their income networks to continue advertising shrimp.
For now, though extra alternate meat startups are mushrooming up, Sriram claims Shiok Meats does not panic any competition.
Said the CEO: “Even if 100 providers arrive up with the same notion, we all however would not make sufficient meat to feed the whole earth.”

I have a new friend.
I decided that she was my friend.
On Thursday, when I first met her – I called her Prakriti.
Yesterday was a Sunday. I decided to name her Bhoomi.
I am very much a woman like her – given to my moods, whims and fancies. So sometimes I call her Prakriti…. at other times I call her Bhoomi.
Prakriti means Nature.
Bhoomi means Earth.
Mother Nature. Mother Earth.
Prakriti or Bhoomi if you prefer to call her that – touched the beautiful chord of silence within me. She smiled quietly and beautifully.
She was extraordinarily gifted.
This dark damsel called Prakriti – could not speak like ordinary folks like you and me.
I will not dishonour or disrespect her by calling her deaf and dumb.
She could understand every word of what I was saying and I could grasp the essence of all her gestures which perfectly conveyed all her thoughts and emotions.
She touched that beautiful chord within me again…..her very young son called Sharad (which by the way is the name of a season) was very protective about her. He kept talking in that strange human language that we all converse in – as his mother conversed through her gestures with me. He was carefully scanning my face and trying to scrutinize my expressions. When he was reassured that I respected his mother – my new friend Bhoomi – he decided that I was worth his mother’s attention.
Prakriti and I met for a total of 5 minutes flat.
I may never meet Bhoomi again.
Bhoomi does not even know how deeply she affected me.
Prakriti made me realize the value of the silent contribution of a mother in a child’s life.
End of real life experience.
Classystreet.com is our dear young Sharad.
Mother Nature and Mother Earth are just that…… Mother Nature and Mother Earth.
Silent quiet workers who work without any expectations from their children.
Mother Earth and Mother Nature are inherent givers…….they give and bless their children abundantly with all their bountiful beautiful life giving gifts.
Prakriti was very proud of her young child Sharad because he knew the value of his mother.
Mother Nature and Mother Earth are very proud of classystreet.com because they realize the value of natural wonders that Mother Nature blesses us with.
Classystreet.com respects and honours all those craftsmen, weavers, handicraftsmen who toil with zeal, passion and respect to craft all those organic and eco-friendly hand loom made sarees or tribal jewellery or gift items.
Classystreet.com is working ardently to showcase the work of these craftsmen on their ecommerce portal.
The beautiful, eloquent, simple, radiant designs on all the hand loom sarees that are displayed on the portal of classystreet.com spell class and ooze panache.
Some damsel called Prakriti, some handsome lad called Vasant, some dark expert craftsman called Sharad, some classically aged but strong and sturdy old woman called Bhoomi, some bright spirited gal called Garima, some eloquent lass called Sandhya or some moody but smart girl called Ritu are working away from dawn to dusk to create stunning natural wonders called hand loom sarees which we urbanites can wear with élan.
Like the young Sharad of my experience, classystreet.com repeatedly scrutinizes the minds and hearts of our readers and viewers.
If your heart is in the right place, it should unfailingly draw you to the skill and the talent of all those rural folks who are weaving those natural wonders called handloom sarees.
Ladies reading this article – silence is the only chord that classystreet.com hopes to touch within all of you.
A quiet revolution is the only promise that classystreet.com offers to all of you.
An ecommerce venture can work only if there are buyers for what we at classystreet.com are selling.
Revert back to your roots. Revisit your roots. Touch base with your culture, your traditions and your tribal brethren. Try to visualize their life.
Urbanites are truly blessed because they are born on the richer side of the material spectrum.
But ruralites are much more blessed than all the urbanites of the world put together.
Why?
Because they value the bounty that Mother Nature and Mother Earth blesses them with.
People like Sharad and Vasant and Ritu and Garima and Prakriti and Bhoomi use their intellect and their ingenuity and their passion and their skill and their talent to decipher the nuances and blessings of Mother Nature and Mother Earth.
So they will not mind sweating it out to weave thread out of cotton.
They will not mind toiling to dye the yarn with wondrous colours made of roots and vegetables and plant sap.
They will work laboriously to then set up the loom to create a design which symbolizes some aspect of culture and tradition.
They will then finally get about to slowly but steadily weaving a beautiful saree inch by slow inch.
Cool to wear. Soft to touch. Tough to withstand the vagaries of Indian weather.
Lovely to drape, pleasing to the eye and elegant to look at.
That may perhaps define all those wondrous handloom sarees that those tribal rural brethren of ours painstaking create for their urban counterparts.
Classystreet.com does the classic work of the mediator – the work that young Sharad did for me when I was speaking with his mother Bhoomi.
Classystreet.com respects the rural folks because they patiently and expertly transform all the gifts of Mother Nature into a wearable fashion statement making garment called a handloom saree.
Classystreet.com respects the urban folks too because it believes and knows that they truly respect the labour and the skills of their rural counterparts.
Classystreet.com simplifies their lives to a great extent by creating a platform where the urban folks can buy the handloom sarees directly from the rural folks themselves.
Classystreet.com personally visits all these skilled hand loom weavers.
Classystreet.com then displays them on their portal so that urban folks reading such articles can buy great stuff at their convenience. The profits are redirected to the weavers directly which eliminates all the middlemen.
The ripple effect being that Vasant and Ritu and Sharad and Garima are able to buy a better loom or source better quality raw material or invest in better designs or colours to craft newer and trendier designs for all of us.
Rural folks befriended Prakriti and Bhoomi centuries ago. They continue to respect and worship the myriad facets of Nature because they would be totally lost without her blessings.
We urban folks too would be totally lost without the blessings of Mother Nature and Earth. We are just too caught up in our own busy bubble called life that we often forget the worth of Mother Nature.
Befriend Prakriti. Befriend Bhoomi. Buy hand loom sarees. Buy hand made goods. Buy hand crafted gifts. Touch base with Mother Earth. Feel the protective spirit of Mother Nature when you drape that lovely hand loom saree over your shoulders.
Take the classystreet.com route to buy all those natural wonders. Mother Nature and Mother Earth are sure to be all smiles when they see that bridge between urbanites and ruralites being cemented with so much love and respect.
