Halsey- Manic (review and analysis)
Ashley- I’m really loving the instrumentals on this song. It reminds me of an idea floating through space and time. Perhaps the idea is to let go of a relationship that isn’t there anymore but is still floating around for reminiscent purposes. I also think the movie quote is a great way to end such a beautiful, strongly vocalized piece and it goes without saying that it’s the perfect transition into the next song.
Clementine- so while I was going further research on this album, I came across the initial intent behind this song. There are two meanings being voiced in this song. When she sings “I don’t need anyone,” one voice is calm while the other voice is happy. The shouting suggests a state of mania while the normal singing voice is while she is experiencing a depressive state. I like how this is incorporated into the whole idea of the album. It also seems like one of those songs where the fans would appreciate shouting.
I’m also coming across some meanings of my own. The theory that artists are depressed is represented in this song strongly. So when she sings this live, I’d imagine she would maybe sing the chorus instead of shouting it (I’ve never seen her live but trust me it’s on my bucket list.) So artists are constantly involved in making their fans happy. The fans would be screaming this song at the top of their lungs while she sings it.
I am also noticing some parallels which I am a huge fan of. She starts the song off by saying “I'd like to tell you that my sky's not blue, it's violent rain,” while in the song Hurricane off of Badlands, she says “I’m the violence in the pouring rain,” and I absolutely love that reference.
Graveyard- I enjoy this song A LOT. I feel like she went in the right direction choosing this song and the single “Without Me,” to promote her album. I have to say that it sums up the album perfectly. This song discusses the turmoil within a harmful relationship and how she would have stayed had she ignored red flags.
You should be sad- I might get some backlash for this but this song isn’t for me. I love how she is experimenting with different genres of music on this album but I have never been a fan of country style music. I would just find it more enjoyable if I liked country. However, it is not a bad song at all, it just isn’t for me. It lowkey gives me a Carrie Underwood ``Before He Cheats” vibe though, which I am totally on board with.
Forever...(is a long time)- THIS IS WHAT IM FUCKING TALKING ABOUT.  This song is seriously a certified banger. It starts off with a somewhat happy melody and slowly transitions into a somber piano melody which is beautifully written. Then she belts it out with the lyrics “Build love, build God, build provinces. Build calluses, break promises ‘Cause I could never hold a perfect thing and not demolish it.” I also love how distortion is added on her voice mixed in with a haunting organ in the background. She ends the song with, “talk to your man, tell him he’s got bad news coming,” which I think is absolutely iconic, and yet another great transition into the next song.
Dominic’s Interlude- This song is definitely influenced by music in a different era. I like whatever effect they used on his voice in this song. This would advocate that another person sees the toxicity within her relationship within their perspective, as the lyrics suggest.
I HATE EVERYBODY- I feel like a lot of people can relate to this song and I think hearing it live would be such a cool thing to experience. This was definitely written for fans to scream at the top of their lungs.
3am- The rock influences are without a doubt prominent in this song, and it would be so cool to experience live. She often talks about her rock influences and I'm happy she decided to make it known within her music. I think it works really well for her various influences intervened throughout the album. The song talks about how different relationships affect her and the people she surrounds herself with. These relationships are, however, temporary to avoid loneliness and wishes they were more than just physical.
Without Me- At the end of the previous song, she incorporated a voicemail that praises the fact that this is her best song. I think she is absolutely proud of this song (trust me I listened to it a million fucking times when it came out) and that’s why she put it in the song. Anyway, I think this is a very delicate way of saying “fuck you, I don’t need you.” It’s a great single and I don’t have much to say other than it is absolutely perfect.
Finally // beautiful stranger - She talks about how she comes across a stranger who she is interested in pursuing a relationship with. However, she is afraid to continue in fear that this person is going to take advantage of her because of previous relationships. In light of this conflict, she is hoping that this person stays because she likes this person. I like the guitar progression in this song and the strongly vocalised pieces throughout.
Alanis’ Interlude - It wouldn't be a Halsey album without her pride in being bisexual, and this song does a perfect job in doing so. It starts off with Alanis’ famous strong vocals and delves into pumping drum beats. The lyrics suggest sexual innuendos referring to her physical relationship with the same sex. It established how she feels the same about women as she does men and it does not make a difference to her. She feels strongly about the idea that labels mean nothing and how she longs for acceptance. She also wanted Alanis to feature in the song because of how she impacted her musical endeavors. I love her feature in this song and the harmonies between Halsey and Alanis are ON POINT.
Killing boys- topping things off with another great revenge song. I noticed how she includes “you don’t need me anymore” in the beginning of a song and she ends the song with “I don't need you anymore,” which symbolizes the progress of getting over someone. I would have to say this is my favorite song off the album besides Alanis’ Interlude.
SUGA’s Interlude- I didn’t like this song at first, mainly because I never got into Kpop. But it’s not necessarily a kpop song, which is what kept me entertained. It’s starting to grow on me recently. This song indicates the struggle of wanting to keep going forward and giving up at the same time, which I had been struggling to find a song with this concept until this one came along. I think it is also just the struggle of being an artist and coming to a common ground of making people happy but also keeping yourself happy simultaneously.
More- I was reading up on this song, and she states how it is a song written about a person who does not exist yet. She is referring to her unborn child, which she has also stated having reproductive issues insinuating her struggle to have children. I was so unaware that this was the meaning behind the song and I am happy that she confirmed this because I’m certain that it would help a lot of people going through the same problem.
Still Learning- One of the main themes throughout this album are also condensed into this particular song. This one is heavy on the idea of learning to love yourself, which she is relying on other people in order to obtain that benefit as suggested by other songs off of this album. This song, however, is learning to love yourself without the help of others. It also suggests the downsides of being a well known artist and how it’s difficult to maintain good self-esteem in such a career.
929- This song is just absolutely beautiful. It seems as if she summarized her entire life and somehow condensed it down into 3 minutes. The instrumentals are so simple, yet her lyrics are just rambling one intense subject onto the next. Everything she talks about in this song is powerful. It talks about moving, love, acceptance, growth, and so on. However, I wanted to talk about something worth noting. Before this album came out, Halsey was doing a Q&A on Twitter and a fan pointed out how she stated this is going to be a very personal album. A fan has said, “I feel like you’ve said that about the last two albums,” and she responded with, “Nah. There’s two types of honesty. Answering a question with the truth and offering the truth without being asked. This is the latter.” This is a perfect ending to such a beautifully written album.
I'm giving this album a strong 9 out of 10.  Let me just say that it is INSANELY hard for me to say anything bad about this album if i'm being completely honest. I’ve been listening to it constantly and keep discovering things that I would have never guessed. She hit the nail on the head with the themes and the overall state of mania in this album. An emotional roller coaster for sure.

Valentine’s Chocolates and Glass Masks
Tumblr media
The romance genre in anime is a little weird, and honestly on the whole the majority of the genre in anime is probably a bit too slow for its own good. “Will they or won’t they” is something most romantic fiction is guilty of, but I think you’d be hard press to come across 150 episode TV series dedicated solely to that premise anywhere else. And this has nothing on the pure silliness that can come with the genre; hand holding, indirect kisses, masked secret admirers, all that good stuff. Really, I’m not here to trash talk romantic anime though, but as I sat down and tried to think about writing a Valentine's Day blog post I just couldn't help but think to myself how romance anime might be the hardest to explain to anyone not in the fandom. I mean, I think I’d have an easier time explaining the plot of any given saga in DBZ than I would explaining “Notice me, senpai” to somebody.
You know what though, I kind of ironically enjoy all of this. Yeah, pure romance anime can be cheesy, but it’s just the right amount cheese that it’s like, c’mon, how can you not enjoy this? Perhaps the worst (or best!) offender of this are older shoujo titles where they can seem almost downright like a soap opera at times. Shows like these are just so full of bizarre, off-the-walls, and over-the-top melodrama that they manage to suck me completely in. They’re heartbreaking, they’re engaging, and the times when they fail at being those things they are hilarious.
My most recent experience with an older shoujo title like this would have to be studio Eiken’s 1984 adaptation of Glass Mask. Now Glass Mask (or Glass no Kamen as it is known by some) is a manga that started life in 1976 and to this day has yet to be finished, with the manga creator Suzue Miuchi stating she would like to finish it soon, but hasn't quite figured out when that will be (move over Hunter x Hunter fans). Having been one of the earlier shoujo titles starting back in the mid-70’s the series is full to the brim with pretty much every cliche and trope you can think of for shoujo anime, and to a modern audience it can often be almost hilarious at times to sit through. It is important to remember that for its time Glass Mask was a trend-setter and arguably if not the creator than certainly the reason why a lot of these cliches became cliches in the first place. Over the years Glass Mask has received its fair share of adaptations and even parodies, and currently has 3 different animes as well as a live action drama series and real life stage plays based on it. I heard the most recent anime, the 2005 TMS adaptation of Glass Mask, does a pretty great job at modernizing several aspects of the series, but unfortunately I have yet to watch that to weigh in so all I can say is that I was inundated with more cliches than I could count and laughed a ton while watching the 1984 series and I loved every minute of it.
Tumblr media
Glass Mask is the story of a young 13 year old girl Maya Kitajima, who has a dream to be a great theatre actress. Unfortunately for Maya she’s from a very poor family, and even more unfortunately for her, she is incredibly average looking with no flair--and don’t worry, the anime will remind you of that fact countless times every episode. Despite her damnable curse of “just looking kind of average” Maya will stop at nothing to pursue her dream and eventually runs away from home after getting a scholarship for an acting school. There, the enigmatic Chigusa Tsukikage notices Maya’s talents and takes her on as her protege. Soon, Maya learns that her mentor Tsukikage was once a legendary actress thought to be truly one of the all time greats who due to a tragic Phantom of the Opera style accident had her face hideously scarred and retreated out of the spotlight.
Tsukikage is looking to pass on her talents to the future generation and eventually pass on her greatest possession, the rights to the elusive Crimson Goddess play--a supposed legendary masterpiece that has not been seen by anyone in decades; not since Tsukikage’s career ruining accident. For some reason the director and creator of the the Crimson Goddess play saw it fit to beseech all the rights to his masterpiece to Tsukikage and thus nobody else has been able to produce this elusive phantom play since. It won’t be easy for Maya and the Tsukikage acting school, as media conglomerate and mega corporation Daito Entertainment will stop at nothing to get the rights to the Crimson Goddess, and isn't afraid to sabotage them at every step of the way. Perhaps Maya’s greatest rival however is the young Ayumi Himekawa, the daughter of an already famous actress who is said to be the favorite to inherit the Crimson Goddess role, and is everything Maya isn't; beautiful, rich, famous and well loved by all, and while not a student of Tsukikage she is more than willing to pass on the rights to Himekawa if Maya fails to prove herself.
It’s easy to already see the cheesiness just from me trying my best to summarize the basic plot, and we haven’t even gotten into the romances yet. Maya’s relationship with the young Yu Sakurakoji is fairly simple at first, as he helped rescue her from a feral dog and despite being in rival acting schools--one affiliated under Daito no less, he’s a pretty chill guy that enjoys spending time with her and doesn't care about all that stuff. It’s only after Maya starts to take off in her career that Sakurakoji starts to spiral into this insane inferiority complex centered around her, where he thinks she has become too good an actress for him to be around anymore and starts to give her the cold shoulder all because of his own make-believe shortcomings. It’s very odd and sudden, and the entire thing is blown out of proportions as Maya clearly does not think that and Sakurakoji eventually has to be lectured by bad boy Masumi of all people to come around and start spending time with Maya again. Even after this however it isn't like the old days anymore and the gap that was created from his own complex still lingers.
Tumblr media
And oh boy, don’t get me started on Masumi, he’s quite the character. Masumi Hayami is the 24 year old son of the president of Daito Entertainment and is currently running the corporation in his father’s stead. Masumi serves as both an antagonist and love interest (because of course he can be both) in the early parts of the story and is often behind some (but not all) the sabotage done to Tsukikage’s acting school. Masumi will eventually take a more reasonable approach when it comes to trying to yank the rights of the Crimson Goddess away from Tsukikage’s hands as the anime progresses, often just by having his acting school beating Tsukikage’s students in contest and the like, and it’s here where we usually see Masumi’s employees that work under him being the more underhanded characters instead of Masumi directly engaging in the conflict.
Despite being on different sides, so to speak, Masumi catches one of Maya’s earliest performances, her role as Beth in Little Women, and falls in love with the young girl, impressed by both her potential as an actress and her fortitude for going on with the show despite suffering from a dangerously high fever and immediately being rushed to the doctors after the curtains fall. From this point on her takes the role of “Mr Purple Rose” named for the bouquet of purple roses he sends to her at every show. As her secret admirer and the first fan Maya has ever had he means a lot to her yet as his true identity of Masumi he’s an enemy that Maya cannot stand to breathe the same air as. So in short, Masumi is just your average 24 year old CEO of a mega corporation crushing on a 13 year old girl from a small acting school he is trying to ruin and also her secret admirer. Somehow Masumi is one of the best characters in the series, and is my best boy. Only in shoujo!
Tumblr media
So far I've been having some cheap laughs at the expense of the 1984 Glass Mask anime but it’s not all like this. The over-the-top bombardment of old school shoujo cliches and the laughs I got from them may be one of the most memorable component of my viewing but there’s actually a lot more to this anime than that. When you get beyond the silly age gap romances and the flowery melodrama of young teenage love, Glass Mask is a story of artists trying to pursue their passions and dedicating their everything to them. Maya may be cursed to forever be “only average looking” but I really respect her drive to dedicate her entire life to theatre.
Well, that is to say, the times when she isn't acting like punching bag to the rest of the cast (Glass Mask has a tendency to make Maya into a Cinderella surrounded by tons of wicked stepsisters). When Maya is written not as a Cinderella she’s fiercely determined, and never backs down despite some straight-up abusive behavior she is put through. At times her mentor Tsukikage is absolutely savage, regularly beating Maya and putting her through some training that is definitely highly illegal, at least for today’s standards. For instance she once threw Maya in a shed and locked the door refusing to let her out until she finally understood her character she was assigned. Did I mention it was in the middle of the freezing cold winter and snowing out and Maya only had the clothes on her back for warmth? She was out there for days with no food, water, or even warmth. But don’t worry, she had her script to read and that made it all okay. Like goddamn, somebody call child protective services on this lady.
Tumblr media
Speaking about “the art” and everyone’s passions, the more you watch the series the more it becomes obvious that the creator, Suzue Miuchi, really cares for theatre and isn't just using it as a vehicle to propel her own story. There are countless renditions of classic plays shown in Glass Mask, such as the mentioned already Little Women, The Miracle Worker, and Wuthering Heights, just to name a few. Some of these plays are presented without any changes while others may have reinterpretations made to them by the characters who are trying to give their roles a life of their own away from the original source material. Miuchi very much understands theatre and does a great job converting many famous plays into a more compressed and easily digestible form of entertainment that can be viewed on a week by week bases. The analysis characters give about the plays and other characters’ performances, the ways characters interpret their parts, and how the plays that we are privy to see in the series end up all show a deeper understanding of the medium. Watching Glass Mask is almost like taking a beginning course in theatre that covers all the classics, only with way more melodrama and over-the-top romance than you will find in your local theatre group. I hope.
What’s the most impressive however goes beyond just Miuchi’s renditions of other classic works and instead are her own plays that she creates herself. As not only does Glass Mask use pre-existing plays it also has its own original productions that will spring up in-between the real world plays. A lot of these self created plays are very enjoyable too, and some feel way more fleshed out than they have any right to be and you often find yourself regretting that you are only privy to a small part of the performance and not able to just sit there and watch the entire play like the characters in the anime do. Maybe that’s why it shouldn't be too much of a surprise that some of the plays Miuchi has created for her manga have later been adapted into real life plays in Japanese theatres. This is probably the greatest testament to the series’ popularity right there, where its own fictional works are turned real. I can’t think of many examples of something like that happening before.
Tumblr media
I’d be remiss not to mention the visual aspect of this series before wrapping up my thoughts on it too. While certainly no powerhouse in animation, Glass Mask 1984 goes for a more picturesque route, and does a great job with tons of beautiful still shots and intricately detailed background images. It’s a humble production but with the right use of lighting a lot of scenes can really shine (pardon the terrible pun it was an accident), especially the night shots which can be pure art. Hang it in a museum, I say. I’m almost surprised we don’t see more “aesthetic” anime blogs mining images from this series. Veteran director Gisaburo Sugii (Dororo, Touch, Osamu Tezuka’s Phoenix) leads the production with skilled marksmanship you would expect from his previous (and future) pedigree, and along with legendary animator the late Shingo Araki (Ashita no Joe, Galaxy Express 999, Saint Seiya) the series has a wonderful 80’s flair to it that just fills any retro anime fan full of nostalgia whether or not they have seen the show before.
Tumblr media
Studio Eiken’s 1984 Glass Mask adaptation is a short, briskly paced 22 episode series that is easy on the eyes and not hard at all to still sit through for modern audiences. It’s full of tons of laughs (both ironic and sincere) as well as tons of melodrama and over-the-top romance. Most importantly though, it’s a full of passion; lots and lots of passion. During its short episode count the series watches Maya progress as an actress and grow older, with her finishing middle school and beginning high school while also balancing full time acting jobs on the side. The ending is left open--and let’s face it the manga hasn't even ended some 35 years later still--but there’s enough forward momentum in the series to really feel like your time with the characters wasn't wasted and that they were able to accomplish something--not to mention the ending spot is a pretty decent one leaving the viewer wanting more but enjoying a satisfying conclusion to one of the more interesting story arcs adapted. Overall I think anyone who enjoys cheesy anime romance can sit down with this series and have a fun Valentine’s.

hi glad to see my post resonated with you hehehsb im always up for some classic lit recs
OHHHH RECS i have quite a few.... im big on classic horror so mary shelley's frankenstein is something i quite enjoyed..... it's an early example of body horror actually which explains why i like it so much 💀 do have to warn you about the orientalism in it though. not in an enstars orientalism way more of a 'islam oppresses women' orientalism way. it's largely skippable but it kinda comes outta left field and makes me kinda giggle. it's a very interesting way of showing the european woman's fear of the patriarchy though.... nooo don't do the patriarchy like that!!! do it in the european way because then it's good!!!!
anyway. obligatory phantom of the opera recommendation. orientalism is also present. now it's in a 'the east is full of riches and strange mechanisms and i want money' way. fun read though i enjoy it a lot. i'm very normal about it.
the metamorphosis is also something i am Normal about (lie) im rereading it right now but i just really adore it. something about it makes me just go full autism brain throttle on it. love the othering of humanity. tbh most classics i enjoy feature the conundrum of what makes a human a human and what makes them not... love me some moral quandaries. anyway
animal farm is a complete genre shift but i remember enjoying it. i read it 2 years ago so i need to reread it but it's a pretty short read and is enjoyable. start of my communism interest. the end fucks with you a bit but i do love the slow descent into like Oh shit this is worse than what we had! good times
on a completely different note one of my biggest pet peeves is when people online read classic lit under today's standards/vocab. not to sound like a boomer but like language fucking changes dude no shit this book written 100 years ago hates minorities IT WAS EUROPE AT THE TURN OF THE CENTURY. not to say classic lit has to be western european just that a good chunk of it is. anyway i just saw a tiktok once that was like 'and then there were none uses bigoted language' like no fucking shit it does most classics hate at least ONE minority, if not multiple. and that's not to say you shouldn't be warned about it (in fact i encourage it because it can slip under the radar sometimes). it was that the message the tiktok had was 'it has bigoted language so you shouldn't read any of christie's works because it means you support bigotry' like. yes i agree the fact it had a racial slur in the title was Bad. i think we can all agree that that's bad. but i don't think that means we should throw the whole book out let alone the whole person? yes know your history recognize bigotry etc etc but if you never ACTUALLY see bigotry at play in a safe community you can and will fall prone to propaganda! idk i think it's insane what people will say online. also christie is literally dead she does not get any money if you buy her books 💀

yo yo yo dysfunctional entp here. i've been in a weird, non-creative, funk for the past week or so, i believe largely due to some very well ignored and internalized negative feelings. what is the best way for me (or any Ne user really) to get back into the idea-generating, novelty, creative swing? (im a writer working on a second novel so the whole 'tired of a single project' thing isnt helping either) thanks hot hot hottie
Tumblr media
(Gif: Claudia, Warehouse 13. ENTP.)
Uh, well first there’s this: i believe largely due to some very well ignored and internalized negative feelings.
Have you dealt with those yet? Because as a Fe, until you get them out of your head and into the world, you cannot move on and the intense internalization of something that NEEDS made public (Fe) is going to cramp your muse. So, expel those feelings. Share them with someone you trust. Shout them into the void. Express them. You will feel better.
As for getting your Ne-dom mojo back – it’s simple.
Ne needs external stimulation to work. It does not exist in a void. Your Ne bounces off objects, ideas, and stories in the external world. This is why you watch a television show – you get ideas. Better ideas than they used. Or you read a book – and you get more ideas. Or you listen to a song – and you get ideas. Or you talk to someone and… you get the idea, right?
Being in a non-creative funk for a Ne-dom means your creativity tank is drained. Why? Not enough external stimulation. Not enough new stuff to bounce off of. Not enough exposure to things related and unrelated to your current writing project. You need new material going in your head. Start reading someone else’s novels. Start up a television show you’ve never seen before on the side. Read someone who is FULL OF IDEAS, who makes YOU full of ideas, someone EXCITED about their ideas.
Here’s some personal writing advice from a fellow Ne-dom, who quite often experiences temporary creative slumps (since I pretty much work on a novel and/or writing project anywhere from 1 to 8 hours daily, about 10 months out of the year… yeah, I don’t “do” hobbies and I don’t “do” idle time… and it kind of sucks).
If you hit a creative slump, you have two choices:
- Take it back to where your creativity was flowing, and take the plot in a new direction (write a different ending to that scene, or cause something unexpected to happen that you did not see coming)
- Change the setting of the scene (it’s quite possible the setting is boring you; whenever that happens, I go, “What will my reader NOT expect? Okay, the last interrogation scene took place inside a dim cell in the Tower of London. What if THIS TIME Henry VII decides to interrogate someone above the Tower’s lion pit, and dangle him over the side?”)
Here is something vital to remember, as a Ne-dom: you figure it out too far in advance, you’ll get bored with your own ideas.
Every time I have lain out an entire book from start to finish, and drawn up lists of what happens in what chapter, the creative spark dies. I have now started keeping an abstract concept in my mind (this is vaguely where it’s headed / what the climax will be, and what I should introduce next) and then leaving myself questions when I stop writing for the day, to trigger ideas for the next day.
So instead of writing: Heledd meets Alfred on the road and they discuss X, I ask, What does Heledd see that makes her suspicious? How should I introduce doubt into Meg’s mind? What should happen with the ring I introduced in the last chapter? How can I make the big reveal more dramatic?
Leave lots and lots of room for improvisation, too. When I sat down to write the other night, I knew I had to take my heroine through her fears up a road lined with her enemies – people who months before had tried to hang her. So, I knew I had to deal with PTSD trauma. What I did NOT know is that superstition would surround a myth of faerie lights to accuse her brother of murder (the murder, I had planned) and that other people would turn up in support of her, and sing an old Welsh tale to calm her down. But that was nice.
Ne’s delight in the unexpected, in allowing ideas to flourish and spring forth with just enough forewarning to lace together into the rest of the story; you must leave room in your novels for this to happen.
Tumblr media
(Gif: Jo March, Little Women. ENFP. My soul sister.)
I’ll be honest here, in the hope it’ll inspire you. I started in on a sequel right after finishing my last book. I was excited about it, I wrote about 20 thousand words, and then I had to stop and do some line editing on the original novel. When I went back to my sequel, my creative spark had DIED. I was distraught; where had all my excitement, enthusiasm, and ideas gone?? So I put that draft in a folder, and tried another. It went on for about 15 thousand words just fine, and then it DIED. More distress. More staring at a blank page. More clueless pondering. More angst. So I delved into it from yet ANOTHER angle. I changed all the POV’s. I tied it back into London in addition to Wales. I invented an entirely new subplot. I wrote about 20 thousand words.
And it DIED. I lost the spark.
I spent one day utterly frustrated, near tears, anxious that maybe I’ll never be able to write another book (low Si paranoia :P) … and I opened up my original draft, the one with 20 thousand words, and skim read the first four chapters… and then sat down and carried the story forward. I’ve kept bits and pieces from each draft, and a lot of that writing can go in this book; but my forward momentum is back. The original idea WAS INDEED the best, or at least, the one my Ne is most passionate about – but it had to explore other options first, before it could settle down to tell THIS story.
Okay, the last bit of advice – you can take it or leave it.
Many high Ne’s benefit from working on multiple projects at once. You should consider, yes, working on your book; and writing a short story or a fan fiction on the side in a totally different genre, to keep your mind active.
I, however, have never been able to do this without losing focus – so I am a “one project at a time” kind of girl, to the extent where if I have an amazing idea for a different book or character in the middle of working on THIS one, I write it down on a slip of paper, stick it in a jar, and forbid my mind from thinking about it further, in order to remain focused.
Finally, write yourself a quick deadline. Given the amount of time you have to spend on this novel, and what else you have to do which might detract from it, and how fast you can write, figure out a rough estimate of how long it will take you to write this book. I spent two years on the last one and it literally almost killed me and drove my family insane (though, technically, since it went through about 14 drafts / rewrites / completely changed focus 4 times, and started out as a novel covering 20 years, went to a novel covering a decade, and wound up being a novel covering 6 months… I was working on more than one novel). This is NOT GOOD for a Ne-dom. We like to see PROGRESS. We like to see a point in our future when we are FREE to pursue OTHER THINGS. So, give yourself six months to write a rough draft. Or four months. Something doable, that keeps you motivated, because:
When I get done with this, I can write something else!
You are verbose. You are creative. You are ideas-driven. And if you’re a Ne-dom, you can turn out an incredible amount of words in a very short time.
You can do this.
Hope that helps,
- ENFP Mod (who tomorrow goes back to writing her sequel, because she did NOT write fiction today and was so bored she could hardly stand it)

First Impression
I hear about this book long time ago and based on my fellow bookstagram friends, they recommended this book to me. I really love tho especially when this book will adapted into movie! And what I like best is because Nick Robbinson will portray the boy character in this book. Finally, I order it online with The Sun is Also A Star book. I read this book for 3 days only! I wish I could finished it in one sitting but I couldn’t.
When I read the synopsis, I hope one of them would die because I like when one of the main character die (please don’t hate me). And what I’ve got in mind at first is this book is related with All The Bright Places. Well, we’ll see.
Synopsis
My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla. But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly. Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.

This book really made my day being amazing. At first, I enjoyed how the stories goes and how Nicola explained to the readers about everything through her beautiful words. It almost feels like her words completely hypnotized me and I dive deeper into her words. Even I read it only on the very first pages! Could you imagine that? For example on this chapter
Tumblr media
Olly and Madelline stories are really insane! I am in love with they both! Olly also such a bad boys but not as ad as I imagine just Bad Boy not really Bad boys HAHAHA. Well, one thing in my mind when Nicola describe Olly I wondering Is Nick Robinson has dimples? I don’t think so. But for Madelline, I think Amandla Stenberg is perfect for Madelline. So, what do you think? Have we have the same taught? Nicola explain that Madelline has a curl black hair and Olly well, i do not think about Nick probably, but i imagine Skandar Keynes. Do you know him? he ever played in The Chronicles of Narnia but i forget the role.

What I like most about this book is also about the illustration in it. David, you are really good illustrator! Nicola is so lucky women! As you can see, those illustrations make my imagination goes well and really good to imagine is exactly like what the authors in mind too! Don’t you think? Some of the illustration or the lettering were perfectly insane. I just in love with them all, especially The Spirals! i almost read it while rotating the book. But yeah, the illustration are good enough.

Last but not Least, this book completely drive me insane. It is crazy to realize the truth about Madeline. And the story is unpredictable. Great work, Mrs. Yoon! You make my curiousness paid. And cannot wait for the movies release! wohooo!! But i gave this book 3/5 stars (because no one dies in this book!) and 5/5 stars for the story goes. And i wish the most that the director collabs with Nicola as well, because i don’t want to get the hype of the book but when i see the movie i will like “what the hell is going on?”

GitHub is the home of over TWENTY thousand programmers collaborating to host and assessment code, take care of tasks, and build software program all together. When that is actually factor is to remove as many pretenses coming from craft as possible, I think that is actually hilarious just how modern-day art is typically found as pretentious. While this isn't necessarily something you must perform, realizing that you might possess pissed people off or agitated all of them is actually a favorable measure. The scary that lesson transfer conjures in individuals is just about tribal, as if that is a disavowal from your family and friends. Individuals with significant vanities are actually normally thus loaded with on their own that they do not assume anybody can perhaps challenge all of them. Mentioning that a person is actually ostentatious could be a way of shouting the trappings and also absurdities of energy. Im just unfortunate that its over but I performed acquire a really good 7-8 months of low play off the game so im satisfied. To become truthful, I prefer to hang out along with these folks than with along with you, as you come across as totally undesirable. I don't truly have the moment to specify, however I assume the video game, overall, is actually a meticulous as well as cautious part from job, performed with treatment and affection for the video game that personal and also for the eventual gamers. You view Leo, individuals really love to work with a victor as well as do not definitely put up with or value a loss. The standards versus which genuineness as well as pretentiousness are actually adjusted vary hugely. Just a straightforward talk between the 2 of us inspired me adequate to write a write-up based around it, and also I'm just one from numerous individuals that he talks with on a daily basis. Because from exactly what this reveals concerning exactly how your identity relates to everyone else's, pretentiousness concerns. Most people start from scratch, job really hard with the greatest from motives as well as ultimately end up being contented or aggravated along with their absence of improvement. The 5th activity concentrates on Magenta's emotions towards Gray, both before and also after the contests from the previous games. Which was actually attained for a pair of year time frame with me concerning 50 percent details of the video game concurrently (you can easily never definitely escape it) as well as which operated tremendously (sort of) up until the time her mother and also I split. Many individuals have developed an undeviating canine eat pet" mindset regarding the globe, shaking stability to the wind for boosted individual increase. However, people along with bipolar II generally possess chronic clinical depressions which can easily create adapting very demanding. When David Bowie dressed like an intergalactic peacock as Ziggy Stardust (visualized), several believed he was past ostentatious. Gout arthritis is actually an enormously painful type of arthritis - thus very painful that most people could certainly not bear the weight from a feather on the tender junction. The fourth game in the collection hinges on the familial relationship between Magenta's child and also boy. When this is actually aspect is to take out as numerous pretenses from craft as achievable, I presume it is actually funny how modern craft is actually usually viewed as ostentatious. The ruffians of the lily possess their various opening period, that the bloom lives in water much more than 1, perhaps 2 full weeks. Few of the self pinpointed players I encounter go through considerably outside of genre myth, numerous are inclined highly in the direction of STEM industries and many have actually never been aware of tarkovsky and are quick to suppose that whatever film the candle light little in this particular dumb activity stems from have to be artistic wank that individuals only make believe to like. Take note that in this particular scenario, Pretentious.spec _ for/minitest _ for is not needed to have in the example report as the intended lessons are already indicated in the aim ats part. We pay for folks for their phrases, our company enable all of them to share the way they experience over some canvas and also our company agree to spend millions as a result of some perceived intensity or even emotion. One other phrase that is actually made use of in the Degree F System 2 vocabulary workshop answers is actually the word balance. It's a painting of two individuals, that's it. In terms of premium through exactly how individuals were repainted, you may certainly not essentially even call that great. If being actually authentic is taken into consideration a quality - what our company need to strive to be in society - then being pretentious is thought about a whitewash, a face-palm to your background. Enjoy the peculiar and also clean aesthetic appeals of Pompous Video game as well as plunge completely in to a metrical and deeper account. The daffodil hairstyle florals can easily avoid from 4 to 8 days, if they are actually thoroughly attended. Inevitably youll start facing phrases like bombastic, a qualifier that describes someone being actually pompous or making use of language thats swollen-headed, like authorities in government or even battling incredibly superstars in the course of their shows. I don't presume that's as huge from a package as this seems to be that people are actually duping rich individuals in to buying low quality craft that scams tips from so much more fascinating artists. That is actually given that he doesn't view themself as some hoity-toity, snooty, pompous writer. I carry out usually receive the feeling, not along with all, yet absolutely along with some comments that a bunch of individuals writing all of them have never ever truly read through a lot ideology as well as don't definitely recognize what it is actually or everything about it and as a result nearly every thing feels like baby-tier beginning ideology". But occasionally folks do not seem to be in order to get that to true offenders business is merely that - service - it is actually certainly not about status or even some of that foolishness associated with it. I commonly listen to people describe hip, obvious or costly brand-new styles as pretentious." I suppose that is actually all right if our team take the brand new meaning that some thesaurus are pressing, yet in my publication, that still does not reduce this. I ended up being thus caught up in the world and all from physical violence that was connected with this that it sort of got to a stage where I just presumed that that was the usual world individuals resided in. While this one really isn't automatically something you have to perform, understanding that you may possess pissed folks off or frustrated all of them is actually a good action. The terror that lesson migration conjures in folks is nearly tribe, as if it is a disavowal from your family and friends.
