Years, decades; and he still holds admiration towards everything. Life is beautiful, it certainly is. The vastness that Kalos shows him, unprecedented natural grace that, to this very day, still awes him. It holds so much potential, it could be so much more—so much more than those tainted petals.

Time and time he has to stop himself. He is scale balancing two opposing views inside him. Of philantrophy and misantrophy. Which is which, where will your heart finally fall into? As much as there is beauty, there will always be shadow. He’s standing right in between that edge, where light stops and darkness starts.

So much. But at the same time, not enough. The world is still unfolding before his eyes. What he sees now is merely the tip of the iceberg. In his observation, he hums to himself. A hummingbird, still in search for the right flower.

Do you think I should watch Gotham?

Ahh, I’m guessing you sent me this ask because you were debating between starting Sleepy Hollow or Gotham? Sorry I didn’t answer it sooner. Anyway, I’m ngl, I’m kinda glad you went with Sleepy Hollow, especially after that post you reblogged yesterday about hating unhappy endings, because unhappy endings are pretty much the thesis statement of Gotham. Like, the show’s whole premise is based on the gradual deterioration of Gotham City, with the goal of making it so bad that Bruce Wayne eventually sees dressing up as a bat and fighting crime as a reasonable option. 

Don’t get me wrong, I loved the first 2 seasons, and there are some great moments, characters, and actors on the show (lord knows I’ll always be an Oswald stan, even though I haven’t watched the show in a season and a half alksjdflkd), but eventually I just got sick of the contrived writing and plot devices that were so clearly only thrown in to make sure that no character is ever happy for too long. Like, it’s just a bummer eventually, you know? (It’s also why I generally dislike all Batman-related things in DC, and why I’ve gravitated much more to the Super-related media, which is fundamentally Hope-based instead of dark and edgy and miserable). 

So like, if you really like the Batman universe (ESPECIALLY the villains), then maybe Gotham would be good for you? Like, there are still plenty of people who watch it and enjoy it. And maybe someday after the show is done with its last season, I might finish it, and I probably wouldn’t actively hate it while watching. Mostly, the writing in season 3 just Disappointed me, and then I lost interest in pretty much every character’s storylines other than Oswald, and eventually I just…stopped keeping up with the episodes. So yeah. 

The fandom was fun most of the time, though! Lots of good art and fics and memes. If you ever do decide to watch the show then you can always scroll through the Gotham tag on my blog for fandom content (same thing goes for Sleepy Hollow, once you finish it). :)
