hi here's a nearly frame by frame breakdown of that one bit in the kiss where we get a zoomed in look at their faces 👍

for context: during the main sequence (shown above) the camera jumps the line and sticks to this medium-ish close up shot, where we can see them from the shoulders up. this is notable in that it allows us to see how till pushes ivan away after the initial kiss, which he obviously ignores to immediately go back in for another.

after this point, however, the camera zooms in and we are locked into a view that is mostly limited to their faces. the main section i'm going to look at here is only about 5 seconds long (from approximately 3:12 to 3:17) so it passes by Real quick, but i find till's reactions in particular here interesting enough to make note of it. to start:

not a lot of changes so far, but when we're this closely zoomed in it's kind of hard to see a lot anyways. the most notable shifts here come down to their eyes opening or closing, with till's fluttering open and closed a lot more while ivan keeps his eyes pretty steadily closed before they stay mostly open for the rest of the scene.

till looks quite grumpy here (:3c) but we don't really see him push away again. if anything, he seems to become frozen in shock, not sure what to do after his instinct (to fight) get so sufficiently overridden, though admittedly we also can't really see his hands this closely zoomed in. for a couple seconds there, he also almost looks kinda into it?? tbf that may be the shipper goggles blurring my common sense, but when his eyes are closed it does make it feel like he has at least a Second or two of leaning into it (also see: second frame in the previous grouping).

(note the parallels with the lip touch. damn you luka)

till is then very quickly shocked a second time when ivan almost immediately drops his hands and starts choking him.

which, if i may note, looks a lot more like a typical kink choke hold when we see it from the front rather than a I'm Trying To Murder You one-- in particular, look at how he seems to be angling his hands to put pressure on the sides of his neck instead of crushing his windpipe.

till still obviously panics in reaction to this which makes me think he must be applying some kind of pressure, but clearly not enough to cause him any lasting or significant harm.

we can also see his hands shaking when we view him from the side-- maybe an act to make it look more real/intense? without the context of the fact that till has no visible marks, it's easy to interpret this as his hands shaking from the Grip as he squeezes as tight as possible, but considering the fact that till is like. fine. i think it's perhaps a lot more likely that this could also be seen as him just being nervous too.

(edit: his hands also shake later on, when he's being shot. i'm inclined to attribute most of this to nerves.)

anyways. some conclusions that i'm drawing from this:

till has two panic instincts being activated here: to freeze, and to fight. he switches between these two quite quickly but i find both to be notable. his first reaction to ivan kissing him is to freeze in place, just staring at him, before he then switches to fight and immediately tries to push him away. when ivan goes back in anyways till seems to go back to freeze, unsure of what exactly to do. ivan then moves to choke him and till again sticks with freeze, accepting the choking without question and not visibly fighting back against it (e.g. he doesn't push ivan's arms away or grapple for his hands etc.), though he does still seem shocked and freaked out by it.

till seems to be significantly more distressed over ivan choking him than ivan kissing him. he also pushes ivan back when he kisses him, but not when he's choking him. (kind of fucking obvious, but still interesting to me considering their Histories, both together and as individuals).

ivan is very calm and calculated here, considering what he's actually fucking doing. who the hell taught that kid proper choking practices etc. etc.

ivan's very white outfit must be waterproof or something since we never see any stains even as the rain fucking pours over them. i also cannot imagine what the fucking acoustics must be like in that place.

i need to do a closer analysis of this more generally, but there is a Lot to be said about (ivan)till and collars.

final point, love that till unrepresses for exactly one (1) frame before it's all fucking over. GOD DAMMIT I HATE THESE GUYS

also bonus: ivan's very obvious checking out of the scores before he gives till one more little peck (still choking him, btw) and then dies 👍

the world is staged and the script is set (you cannot change the ending) is a fic based on the ending of TGWDLM where like. you know how in the credits where Emma starts begging the audience for help? and like. you know how in TTO how the audience is also referred to by Bliklotep's title? soooo the fic is the ending but i throw him in the mix and ramp the already existing horror of "begging for help and being ignored a cheering crowd" by going "realizing said crowd has been treating your suffering and death as a source of amusement right before you die". only fun times in hatchetfield

Jukeboxes and Maple Syrup is a fic that takes place directly after the end of Yellow Jacket that focuses on Daniel and Sophia like. right after the ending. we dont really see them after the Otho fight and we still have no clue is Sophia is even ALIVE and also i miss them dearly. the fic mostly focuses on Daniel trying not to have a panic attack in Miss Retros because one friend is missing after almost dying and the other is in the hospital after also almost maybe dying and he doesn't really know what to do. Not a whole lot of plot it's mostly him trying to deal with that whole. mess. luckily he's got Miss Holloway and Duke to make things a bit easier (responsible adults? in MY hatchetfield? its honestly only these two but its better than nothing)

regarding the whole thing where jazz doesn't realize prowl's whole self is a living, feeling being... the cross-cultural miscommunication potential is also how jazz and prowl could end up in a confusing situationship. Like Jazz would probably think nothing of being super touchy, and have zero respect for personal space, because to him it's *not* touch or personal space! a pilot making his mecha hang all over another pilot's mecha is just normal military misuse-of-equipment horseplay!

(like making your mecha slap another guy's mecha on its butt is solidly funny joke territory, not sexual harrassment. if we humans had mechas in real life, this is the kind of shit the pilots would constantly be doing, lbr)

So you end up with a scenario where Prowl's making friends with this weird new guy who's always getting very close, and who is touching him a lot, and it all comes across as very intimate and flirtatious, and maybe even scandalous. Except Jazz never actually asks him out or makes a real move, and Prowl is going through all the stages of gay panic and confusion.

Just Jazz consytantly unknowingly being this huge heartbreaker tease, and Prowl is just s u f f e r i n g.

Imagine the accidental flirting, too! Like Jazz is super impressed by this Prowl guy's mecha, so he's trying to talk shop with the other pilot (or so he thinks).

Jazz: "Wow, that build you have is great! Really impressive detailing. Who did the work?"

Prowl, well-known cold construct, confused and oddly flattered: "Um, a factory in Petrex did my construction?"

Jazz, who has never heard of Petrex but also failed geography in high school, trying not to look dumb in front of this impressive 'pilot': "Oh, Petrex, sure! Well, they did a great job!"

Prowl, now totally convinced this guy is hitting on him, flustered: "Th--thanks?"

Jazz, who would like to have a competent partner to fight evil aliens, decides he needs to poach this pilot to work with him. So he slings his mecha's arm around the other mecha's shoulder, leans in real close: "You know, you and I would make a great team!"

Prowl: *crashes from full blown gay panic*

Sorry for spamming your ask box with so much brain rot but holy shit do I love all the potential of the AU you came up with, I can't stop thinking about it, I had to shake some of these ideas out of my brain to share!

thinking about the symbolic meaning of Cure and how (in the animation) they never sing together. they’re never on the same page. ivan and till both wanted to heal, but they each desire a cure that the other can’t provide; they couldn’t be what the other needed. they were their own obstacles to the potential of their relationship. ivan internalized the idea that till could never truly see him or love him, so he pushed till’s buttons. took what attention he could get. hid his intimacy in a way till would never see or know about. ivan tried to free till, followed him back to hell, protected him, took care of him. he was always there. but till always saw mizi in his place and he accepted that. he closed off any chance of till KNOWING him and the depth of his feelings until it was too late. till clings onto this childlike vision of mizi. he’s abused and tortured and (arguably) the most mistreated by the aliens and he seeks gentle love and attention which he associates with her. but mizi doesn’t share that feeling. her eyes are for sua. and surely till knows that.at that point, it’s a delusion to him, though. this version of mizi that he clings to and longs for exists only in his mind. it’s not reality and when he is confronted with her again, that love he’s convinced himself of will likely shatter. he’ll finally let go. but even with eyes unclouded, he’ll only have the ghost of ivan now. ivan assumed till won’t be affected by him dying, but that’s the furthest thing from the truth. till is alone to face the remainder of alien stage and any feelings he COULD have had for ivan will only haunt him. ivantill was completely doomed from the start. the two of them were always the biggest obstacles to any romantic feelings or brief happiness they could have shared. the contrast to mizisua (and ivan even acknowledging that they’re not the same) makes me want to rip my heart out.

Well I just thought that Apollo and Hermes would look cool if I use that frame from All In as ref 🩵 it's still rough though and has been rotting in my gallery for as long as I can remember but yea, don't quite think I have the motivation to finish most of my WIPs ATP(also because my art style still keeps changing since it hasn't been that long since I digitally started drawing)....😭🙏

But yea, on the topic of ALIEN STAGE, I ...

LOVE LOVE LOVE alien stage sm... @VIVINOS and @QMENG are absolute geniuses. When I first heard about this series and I heard about aliens and humans I thought it was going to be something really cliche but I was so surprised by how interested and int reading the premise was. The pet humans obey all the aliens and are there only for their sick entertainment. The pet humans rebelling against the aliens because they have the knowledge for it and they know that if Anakt was real, he would have helped them by now.... I love all of it and I wish we had more info about the characters....I absolutely adore ivantill and mizisua. But as surprising as it is I don't really hate Luka tbh...he's been abused and brain washed by heperu for too long to the point he thinks he's indebted to them...sure he gets off of other people's pain but he's also just a survivor of alien stage and a pet human at the end...

About the final round...hm... I was really upset but it makes sense honestly I don't think till stood a chance against Luka if all people is the only ever contestant who could ever rival him with votes and popularity was Ivan. But I was REALLY REALLY upset that till died after falling into Lukas mind fucking.... It's just shows how much she was haunted by Ivan's death ... But finally seeing Mizi and smiling for the first time after round six, he dies peacefully in her arms, joining Ivan and sua in a place hopefully better than Anakt Garden could ever be. Where there's no aliens, just a reunition if friends... But poor Mizi, Hyunas death is near and the only one left standing is her and fuckass Luka...

Round 7 left me with more questions and trauma then answers and closure in conclusion 😭🙏
