Phic Phight 2024: Lies and Smoke
Prompt by @vigilant-insomniac: "Aunt Alicia hasn't been to Amity Park in a long time, she regrets not visiting her niece and nephew sooner.
She knew her sister and her brother in law were the mad type of scientists, but she always imagined them drawing the line when it came to their kids. She should've known better."
The world around Alicia's car was nothing more than a tunnel of darkness. She released one clawed hand from the wheel to fidget with the radio knob. No matter what station she changed it to, she received only static. It buzzed waspishly in her ears. The road stretched endlessly.
Alongside the droning noise, echoed Jazz’s panicked voice. Alicia's hand returned its death grip on the wheel. Voices faded in and out from the radio. Snippets of conversations that soon faded into the void.
Would her sister really do that to her kids? To Danny?
Parents’ weren’t supposed to have favorites. Well, so the movies said. But her parents had favored Maddie and Maddie clearly favored her son. Not that Jazz was unloved, Maddie (and Jack) very much adored the kids. But the baby of the family would always be the baby.
She turned a corner. A green sign lit up by her headlights told her she only had 40 miles left. The dim, green lights from the clock on her dash glowed 3:26.
What the hell was she going to do when she got there? Jazz couldn't give much detail, too busy hyperventilating over the phone. God, it must be bad, really bad if someone as level-headed as her could barely speak.
She looked over at her first aid kit in the passenger. Would that even be enough? She tugged on her chapped lips with her teeth. In her rear view mirror she caught a glimpse of the dark colored towels in the back seat. It felt more like she was going to help dispose of a body more than anything. She hoped that wasn’t what she was doing.
…
She parked down the road. She briefly pressed her forehead to the wheel before unlatching her fingers. She gathered the towels and clumsily slinked to the alleyway by the house. Despite the sky lightening up, Fenton Works loomed over her. The windows were like slate; they were lidded over with curtains and the small gaps between revealed dark, indistinguishable shapes. The house was still like a held breath. Should she try the back door?
There was movement in one of the windows near the back.
That answered her question.
She went to the back door and waited. The door opened only a sliver and a wild, light blue eye darted out. It took an uneasy moment before the eye recognized her. The door swung open fully to reveal Jazz cradling Danny in her arms.
The first thing Alicia noticed was the blood. It matted his hair, dripped caresses along his chin, and rolled down his arms.
“We need to go now,” Jazz whispered harshly through clenched teeth.
She started to grab the towels from Alicia with one hand which startled her into action. She helped Jazz wrap him up in them. She nearly dropped him at one point from the shock of how light he was. His eyelids fluttered, but never fully opened. He didn't even groan.
She tried to help hold Danny, but Jazz clutched him close to her chest and urged Alicia to rush down the alleyway and to the truck. She slid into the backseat with her brother and held his head gingerly in her lap. Alicia's hands trembled as they turned her keys still stuck in ignition and started pulling away from the curb.
“Do you have a first aid kit?” Jazz started pulling her hair up into a ponytail. “He needs care. I didn't have time to do anything at the house.”
“Shouldn't we take him to a hospital? I know we're… getting away from your parents, but maybe one out of town?”
“No hospitals,” she replied sternly. “I'll explain more later. Just know that my parents wouldn't be the only people we would have to worry about if we go to the hospital.”
Alicia shivered and passed the kit over without taking her eyes off the road. A moment passed and she spoke again.
“We'll have to stop at some point. I've been driving all night and I don't know how much longer I can drive.” She rubbed her eyes and refocused them on the road.
“I'll take over, if that's alright with you. I'd really prefer if we made it to your house before my parents realize we're gone.”
Alicia caught a glimpse of Jazz pulling out wound wash and cotton pads in her rear view mirror.
“That’s fine with me. I trust you not to crash the truck,” she said lightheartedly.
It fell flat but Jazz smiled briefly.
…
After Jazz took care of Danny as much as she could and Alicia could barely keep her eyes open, the pair switched spots. Alicia settled into the backseat and rested her nephew's head in her lap. Her eyelids grew heavier and heavier, but she was determined to see the extent of his wounds before she nodded off. With a tenderness she couldn't remember the last time she used, she shifted the towels he was still blanketed in.
He was shirtless. She hadn't noticed that before. Then the bandages. They covered his whole torso. Already they were beginning to soak through. Oddly, the blood seemed to be one line up until it branched out on his chest. If she didn't know better, it looked like…
No. There's absolutely no fucking way. Her sister was eccentric. Not absolutely batshit insane!
The nausea was all consuming as she put the towels back in place. She pressed her eyes tightly closed like a child under a blanket. It was a long time before she could sleep.
…
The truck stuttered to a stop, jolting her awake. Jazz had already slipped out. Alicia quickly got out of the car to stretch and pop her back. When had she gotten so old?
Jazz shakily lifted Danny into her arms. Alicia knew better than to offer help this time. They made their way to the sagging porch which groaned forlornly. She unlocked the door and Jazz pushed past to set Danny down on the couch. Her fussing started immediately.
She adjusted him into what she must have deemed the most comfortable position before kissing his forehead. Her lips lingered and her brows furrowed. As if second guessing herself, she pressed the back of her hand to his head. Then her palm. Then along his temples and cheeks. She stood and trained her gaze on Alicia who still stood by the (now closed) door.
“He's burning up,” Jazz said with a barely concealed waver. “He runs colder than normal, but right now he's warmer than me.”
“I'll get a rag. Maybe some ice packs.” Alicia scurried off in relief. Finally, she could be useful.
She returned with the supplies. Jazz had removed most of the towels, leaving only one underneath him. She took the wet rag and placed it over his eyes and forehead. Next, she took the ice packs and strategically placed them around his body. Alicia stepped back so Jazz could stand from her kneeling position.
“Do you have a cooking syringe? We need a way to administer water and maybe blended food.” She redid her messy ponytail as she spoke. “Also, do you have any sort of antibiotics? I'm worried the fever is from infection.”
“I don't have nothin’ more than Neosporin. I think the best we can do right now is clean the wound with actual soap and maybe some heat,” she said as she scratched her chin. “As for a syringe, there should be one in the third drawer by the sink.”
Jazz nodded her head slowly, her eyes cloudy in thought. She went to the kitchen and started searching through the drawer. Alicia left her to it and went up stairs to grab her bar soap and a hand towel.
When she came back down, Jazz was already placing the full syringe between his lips and teeth. She'd allow a few drops before stopping. It would be no good for him to drown at this point after everything. Alicia went to the kitchen to retrieve her biggest bowl and filled it with hot water. She hovered over Jazz’s shoulder until she finished up.
Jazz put the syringe on the coffee table and reached for the bowl, towel, and soap. Alicia passed it over easily.
“Go take a nap. I promise I'll take one myself once I'm done cleaning Danny.”
Alicia grunted in agreement and trudged upstairs to her room. She barely took off her boots before she passed out on her bed, feet still hanging off the foot of it.
…
A shrieking ring startled Alicia awake. She rubbed at the drool on the side of her face and at her crusted over eyes. It was coming from her phone. She reached into her front overall pocket and answered it without looking.
“‘Ello?”
“Alicia!”
Her eyes bulged at the sound of her sister's frantic voice. Fuck.
“What's wrong?”
“Jazz is gone! And she took…. Look, are they with you?”
“Jazz and Danny? No.” She swallowed harshly and prayed that Maddie didn't hear it.
“Really?” Alicia could hear the furrow between her brows. “Well, if you do, stay away from Danny. It's not actually him. He tricked Jazz into thinking he is.”
There was a breathless sob on the other end.
“Al. I really need you right now,” she warbled. “I'm going through a tough time right now. I think it's better if I could tell you everything in person?”
Shitshitshitshitsh–
“Course, Mads.” Alicia mouthed fuck to herself over and over until Maddie spoke again.
“I'm giving you a heads up that I'm bringing Jack. I need him too. We should be there by tomorrow morning.”
“Okay.” Her fingers rhythmically clenched and unclenched around her phone.
“Love you, bye.”
“Bye.”
As soon as the call ended, Alicia threw her phone away from her. They were so fucked. She stood, checked her beside clock (had she really slept five hours?), and stumbled down the stairs as quickly as she could without eating shit.
“Jazz! Your parents are coming over. Your mom said they'll be by tomorrow morning. We're going to have to find somewh–” she froze.
Jazz had two fingers pressed tight to Danny's wrist. Stone still. She slowly turned to look at Alicia over her shoulder.
“He's not breathing. I can't feel anything.”
“Oh.” Alicia didn't know she could make a noise like that. Like she had been gutted.
Jazz lifted herself onto her feet, never letting go of Danny's hand. Her other one rested in his hair and slowly started stroking the ends.
“Listen, just… just go shower, okay? Then I'll shower. Then we'll figure out what we're going to do,” she murmured basically to herself.
Alicia nodded and clutched the wall for support as vomit rose to her throat. After a few steadying breaths, she choked it down. Call her a coward, but she was going to take any escape she could. It was all just too much too fast.
She bolted up the stairs and grabbed a soft, worn pair of jeans, a cotton t-shirt, and a pair of boxers. Her hands trembled the entire time, from turning the knobs to numbly scrubbing herself down. She didn't know how long she was in there, but by the end the water raised goosebumps along her flesh. She dressed herself quickly. A breath in, a breath out. She headed downstairs.
The couch was empty.
“JAZZ! JAZZ, WHERE ARE YOU?”
No response besides the mocking echo of her voice against the walls.
She rushed outside and skidded to a halt. Her truck was gone. Fresh tracks marred her dirt driveway. She stood there for a long time.
She walked the few miles to the nearest convenience store and back. She sat on her wilting porch which was sadder than usual and brought out her newly purchased lighter. She brought a cigarette to her lips, lit it, and smoked the first one she'd had in sixteen years. And she waited for her sister to come home.

I want to write a Dad!Vlad and or Family Breakfast AU and I just learned about Flynn Fenton
His 'canon' is half baked at best and obviously I'm gonna rewrite it in this AU, but I have multiple ideas on how to do it and want to narrow it down.
Additional info:
-AU is set during an alternate Kindred Spirits where Vlad's in the process of making Dani in all settings.
-Vlad being a dad to two or more kids is more important to the AU than the romantic relationships between him, Maddie, and Jack.
-Depending on how this goes, he might not even stop being a villain, he'll just be an evil dad with evil kids and they all manically laugh together as an evil little family.
-(Excluding the Chimera setting) Jack and Maddie think the Ghost Portal killed Flynn. From their point of view, they got the calculations wrong, the portal electrocuted them, and while they mourned, they had to move on for the sake of Ghost Science. Except to their shock, he's alive! And Vlad Masters/Plasmius found him!
-I am not doing shit with Misery Vex, Flynn (again, aside from the chimera setting) was feral/communally raised by ghosts until Vlad finds him, recognizes how familiar he looks, and mentally goes 'waiiiiiit a minute!' before taking him back to the human world and helping him readjust back to human society while figuring out what to do with him.
-In Option one, Alicia made the terrible mistake of letting her sister and Jack babysit her son while she and her (soon to be future ex) husband argued about shared custody of Flynn years ago. After Vlad finds him and reunites him with his mother, a grateful Alicia and Flynn act as his wingmen. Alicia encouraging 'giving your kids a more reliable and responsible father figure'. She doesn't care if Maddie divorces Jack or not but she'll be damned if the man who saved her son is just flat out ignored in favor of the man who made her lose him for so long.
-In Option two, Vlad unintentionally/unknowingly parentally alienates Flynn from Jack and Maddie by going above and beyond for this kid when Flynn would've killed and died for him if he just did the bare minimum. Flynn, loyal to his new father to a fault is all for trying to kill Jack but also tries to convince Vlad that he can do much better than Maddie as he also wants to kill her, but can't do that when his dad has feelings for her.
-In Option three, Maddie and Vlad had a fling in college that ended when Vlad got hospitalized. Jack knew it wasn't his but was happy to adopt, she knew it was Vlad's but didn't tell him or bring it up to him. They forgot all about it until there's a pissed-off Plasmius too angry to realize that he's outing himself as a halfa while banging on the Fentonworks' door demanding to know why Maddie hid his son's existence from him and why he was treated so poorly. Maddie puts two and two together immanently, Jack thinks Maddie made a kid with the Wisconsin ghost and is excited about what this means in ghost research.
-In Option four, through a course of several fights with Maddie and Jack, battle banter leads Plasmius to jokingly ask them for samples of their DNA to make halfa chimeras. Jack and Maddie, eager ghost-studying scientists who are too thrilled with the idea to recognize it was a joke, happily consent on the grounds that they get 50-50 custody of any kids made during their partnership.

Dpxdc Au - Tim and Danny are Twins, have been through all the introductions and after a few years decide to have The Audacity.
At some point it hits the two of them, that they really do act alike sometimes. Like, mannerisms and small detail micro expressions, the whole nine, so Danny and Tim decide to take advantage of this.
Parent trap style swapping but all within the same household, they cut their hair and swap clothes, and get in a few practice runs around the halls of Wayne Manor. No one in the family catches them through at least 3 family dinners, so they go for the larger gambit.
Tim wants to go to high school for a bit and get back into skate boarding with low stakes- Thats what he tells Danny at least, he really wants to spend the time dismantling the GIW from the epicenter in Amity Park. It works out that Tim accomplishes this in record time (explosives didn’t require ethics in his opinion) and does actually get to enjoy his hobbies again for a bit.
Danny wants to tell off the WE board members and get some proper Red Robin training so he’s not so dependent on his powers when facing human enemies (they were squishier than ghosts, restraint was key)- That’s what he tells Tim when the reality is he’s going to lead a hostile takeover of DalvCo. and well, yeah, actually get some training in.
No one catches on except for Kon.
After they’ve swapped back and their missions are debriefed, Tim asks him why he never fell for it? Simply put: “Uh, dude. Your twin doesn’t have a heartbeat half the time, it was pretty easy to tell.”

Danny can't recall many fond memories of his childhood, but ones he did remember often included their summer trips to his Aunt Alicia's in the countryside where he and Jazz would play in the woods just outside the Kent family's farm. The Kent's were a wonderful family who took his parents' ghost talks in stride, and they were always kind to him and Jazz. Danny loved when Clark and his wife Lois were in town while they visited. They always had really cool stories on account of them being journalists. And if Danny seemed to notice that Clark tended to treat everything like it was glass, or that he seemed to hear things way better than he should... well, Danny wasn't going to say anything about it.
It was about a year after Danny's accident that the Fenton family made a trip back out to Alicia's. Clark happened to be in town; he heard the Fentons were coming. He'd heard shouting coming from Alicia's, but had initially thought nothing of it. The Fentons were a loud family, always getting into some sort of trouble. Then he heard the sound of their weapons firing; a little weirder, but still normal for Jack and Maddie. And then he heard a cry for help... that's when he found Danny stumbling through their fields, covered in dirt and blood and green, glowing goop. He had a gash in his side that he gripped at in pain, and his eyes burned a toxic green in his determination to get to the farmhouse. He clung to Clark as soon as he was close enough.
"Please help me," he whimpered through ground teeth. "My parents are hunting me, please you have to help me!" Probably a meta, he thought, angry that Jack and Maddie could do something like this to their own son, meta or not. With gentle hands, Clark lifted the child he'd known since he was a baby and got him to the safest place he could think of for medical attention. It was time to smuggle a child into the Batcave.
OR
Clark has known Danny his whole life, and when an identity reveal goes sideways in the countryside, Batman helps Clark adopt Danny.

Aunt Alicia called her family to visit her in the isolated woodland town. For a whole week, they would stay there. Closed all in Amity Park, and a shield around the portal so Ghost can't leave it,... They should have built that first before the portal. But we weren't even sure that Ghost really would come.
As the Fenton were there, he had a boy with her, a child of an old friend of hers. He calls him Respawn; he was a clone. And she needed her family's help with it; she has no idea how to raise a child. And Deathstroke kind of failed most times. And he asked her for it; he will visit once a week.
Respawn has no idea how he was named Steve, after Steve Rogers from the comics. It turns out his new mom and aunt were fans of the comics and thought first that his dad was the Super Soldier of the US. But she learned he was a mercenary, and now Alicia wants to have a little Captain America! For the first time, a family will have a hero! Wait... Alicia:" Do you even want to be a hero?" Respawn:" ... sounds like fun?" Maddie:" Yes! First time, a hero!"
+
Danny wasn't sure what to say. Danny:" But..." Jack:" We know that you tried your hardest to play Hero as Phantom Danny. But well, we are proud of the crimes you committed while doing it. But do it outside of Amity Park, please."
Respawn likes his cousins too, Uncle? Jack is pretty funny. And Danny likes to fight too! And he didn't fight like a hero—too brutal. No wonder the rest thought he was a villain. And Jazz talks with him to help him with his problems?
+
Ex-Villians Fentons, who all retired. Fentons knew Danny was Phantom and were sure he was just Meta and not Half Ghost. But we were proud that he started to be a villain, even if he was confused at times.

AU comic foundation (as I'm still planning it out).
A mix of "Danny is taken in by Aunt Alicia and not Vlad" and "Nobody knows" AUs. Jazz is still alive because losing your parents is already hard enough, I don't want Danny's entire life to be ruined here. That's not to say he isn't completely a wreck though.
After an incident, the Fenton kids and Alicia move to a little town named Amity Park... Surely nothing will go wrong here as well, right?
The comic will be jumping around and dealing with the mystery of what exactly happened to Danny. As well as some new, strange events that affect the town soon after his arrival.
Really, I just wanted to explore a Nobody Knows Au while making Danny a bit more harsh and edgy than usual, haha! I want to try something more dark and serious than what I usually make as well.
#danny phantom#Aunt Alicia#jazz fenton#danny fenton#tucker foley#sam manson#nobody knows AU#farmboy AU#i haven't decided if i'm doing everything the same as my usual take yet#its probably going to be a bit different? I'll also likely change up my tucker and sam design so its more obvious that this isn't my normal#take on things#ideally i'd like it obvious at a glance this is a different AU so its not confusing#dp fanart

Danny Phantom Prompt: Too Late to Save Them
Ok! There are similar concepts floating either around here or AO3 (or both), but I haven’t been able to find this particular angst path. (Though I’m sure it’s around)
So!
Canon Divergence After TUE (The Ultimate Enemy)
Danny fought his evil self, but was too late to save his family. Clockwork didn’t reverse time to save them— they were always meant to die. It was their “time.”
-------------
“NO!”
Danny was flown backward from the explosion, his body hurtling along with the rubble.
The rubble.
When the dust settled he heard sirens in the distance. Saw. . . a torn red beret beside his foot.
Tucker.
Sam.
His. . .
Family.
Distraught, confused, exhausted, Danny notices a woman crouched down beside him. She’s speaking to him, but he can’t hear her; there’s a dull buzz all around him, and the world seems more. . . narrow. It’s hard for him to focus on what he’s seeing.
And then she. . . freezes.
The world freezes in time.
The ghost, Clockwork, is floating behind her. He has his hand out, waiting for something. His expression unreadable, but Danny understands.
His fingers lightly grasp the thermos holding his future self. As though in a trance, he lifts it up to Clockwork. Gives him the thermos.
Clockwork accepts it, continues looking at him impassively.
Resumes time.
. . .
The days go by. He is released from the hospital in the care of a caseworker. She is talking to him gently, but he doesn’t hear what she’s saying.
He's had many people talk to him, so many people gazing at him with pity. He can't be bothered to care.
He is led to a car, someone buckles him in. The car begins driving, and soon is parked in front of Fenton Works.
His home.
The caseworker is saying something. . . Something about his aunt Alicia. He ignores her, walking into the house.
Into the lab.
He hears her scurrying after him.
Ignoring her cries of alarm, he goes into the portal.
…
He floats in the ghost zone. A few ghosts attempt to banter with him, push him around; but noticing his non reaction, leave him be.
He can’t go home. Can’t go to Vlad. He has to keep his humanity to prevent becoming a monster.
But how can he keep what he can’t feel?
He’s lost them all.
But he can keep his promise.
“Don't worry. I won't turn into that. Ever. I promise.”
He floats further and further into the ghost zone.

Ghosts of Those We Once Knew
a phic phight fill for @silverwing013
Warnings for: implied child abuse, accidental death, dead parents
**💚**
“Oh yeah?! And what are you going to do about it?!” Aunt Alicia snapped into the phone.
There was a sound on the other end of the line, but Danny couldn’t make it out all the way. There was another solution, but it was…risky; it would require going into his aunt’s bedroom— a well known, forbidden domain— to pick up the only other phone hooked up to the landline.
…There was no other time to find out what Aunt Alicia was putting off. It had to be worth the risk. Danny crept up the worn carpeting of the stairs, hoping that his sneakiness would hold up to Alicia’s discerning eyes and ears.
Her bedroom was dark. Carpeted. …Pink.
Whatever. Danny took a deep breath, lifted the phone off the hook, and tried not to breathe too loudly into the mouthpiece.
“You have no right to keep Daniel in your dismal, miserable, isolated hovel,” someone shouted on the other end. Danny had never heard this voice before. He sounded like someone around Dad’s age, maybe? Maybe a little…smoother, despite the blistering anger coming through the line. “You live with no human contact for nine months out of the year. You speak to no one. Do you— is Daniel even enrolled in a school? Did you get any sort of educational provisions for him whatsoever?”
“What, so he can get cocky and blow himself up in the garage like his parents?” Alicia snapped. Danny had to clap a hand to his mouth to hide his gasp of dismay.
“You know full well that punishing your sister’s son by restricting his access to an education and basic human companionship is not a solution to your grief for your sister. You are out of your mind.”
Aunt Alicia’s voice got low. Aunt Alicia’s voice got mean. She sounded like how she looked when Danny had fumbled the water pail from the well or stepped two steps too close to the rhubarb patch out back. “Vladmir Masters, you listen here,” Aunt Alicia muttered. “That boy is everything left of my sister in the whole damn world. He is not going anywhere. Do you understand? Not for you to fill his head with her stupid husband’s supernatural hoo-ha, and not for you to snatch up and teach himself how to kill other people the way those two killed each other. Danny stays here. If you ring me up one more time, I’m going to do more than just mail dog crap to the front step of your stupid castle in Wisconsin.”
The phone cut off. It would be an innocuous end to a phone call, except Danny can hear the clatter of plastic cracking on plastic in the downstairs kitchen.
There was a moment of silence.
“Daniel Jackson Fenton, you get your butt in here right now!”
Danny jolted, heart pounding. He—he went downstairs.
Aunt’s Alicia’s lips were pursed, her eyes tight. “What did I tell you about missing all the sticks in the yard? It looks like a wreck!”
Danny felt his breath stick in his throat.
“Well?”
“Yes, Aunt Alicia,” Danny mumbled. He looked down and away. He wasn’t caught out eavesdropping, but…was this any better?
“If those sticks aren’t piled up beside the woodshed for kindling in half an hour, you can kiss your dinner goodbye.”
Danny hadn’t had dinner in three nights. He was very lucky he didn’t need to eat as much as living kids. “…Yes, Aunt Alicia.”
“So?”
…Danny went outside to collect sticks. It took until nightfall to get all the refuse from yesterday’s storm off the ground.
Aunt Alicia ate canned corn and carrots and butchered rabbit with hot sauce for dinner. Danny ate nothing.
Danny went to bed thinking about somewhere else he could go. Mom and Dad were dead—smithereens in the blast that had killed him and brought him back to life simultaneously. Jazz was in the hospital. He had no grandparents. He had no other aunts or uncles other than Aunt Alicia.
…Who was Vladmir Masters?
*
It took two days for Danny to decide to run away.
Or. Well. Fly.
He’d figured that if he wanted to find out who Vladmir Masters was, he’d need an internet connection. His cell had been on the Fenton Fone Plan™ and had been disconnected from the Fenton Family Patented Ghost-free Satellite™ for almost three months now. But, you know…what was a public library for, if not getting information?
The two-day waiting period was mostly just Danny getting his stuff together, making sure he didn’t leave anything behind, finding anything worth stealing…
…There was a picture of Mom with her big hair at graduation, a black robe thrown over her Hazmat suit. Her hair had been so big. Lots of people were beside her, including Dad, and someone with a matching hair stripe. They looked happy.
It didn’t matter that it had been Aunt Alicia’s photo. The picture had gone into his backpack next to Bearbert Einstein and a filched pocket knife.
Mom was Aunt Alicia’s sister, but Madeline Fenton had been his mom.
…Was still his mom.
Would…would always be his mom.
Danny wouldn’t cry. He wasn’t going to cry. Still, the flying and everything was still new to him. It took almost ten minutes to get himself off the ground without floating off willy nilly.
It took another half an hour to remember how to go through walls.
By the time Danny fell (as in actually, literally, leaned up against the wall and then realized he’d not made contact the way he’d expected to) through the house wall, it was almost eight at night. Aunt Alicia was still listening to Prairie Home Companion downstairs on the radio.
Whatever. He was out of there. He was sure he looked crazy—his hair was white, which was almost impossible to hide—but all he had to do was get out of there fast enough that no one connected one teenage runaway with a backpack to Danny Fenton.
It was fine.
It was all going to be fine.
…And if there wasn’t someone who’d help him. Well. Being homeless didn’t sound…so bad…?
…Or maybe he’d just squat in the burnt out ruins of Fentonworks. That sounded fine too.
*
Morning broke. Danny ended up in a tiny town somewhere in Mississippi.
A nice guy at the coffee shop gave him a cup of water and told him where the local library was. A librarian plugged her login details for him on a public computer, and Danny was able to look up one “Vladmir Masters”…
…CEO and owner of DALVco, millionaire, and Green Bay Packers megafan.
Holy crap.
Like… There were hospital wings with his name on them. Charities operating out of his company. Every picture of the man was perfectly taken in perfect lighting with perfect suits and precise smirks and bright-white magazine article paper.
Danny went back up to the librarian. “Do you have any articles on…uh…Vlad Masters?”
The librarian smiled warmly. “Ah, school project?”
“Sure,” Danny lied, milk on his tongue.
Vlad Masters was a self-made millionaire. He lived in a castle in Wisconsin that used to be owned by a dairy empire kingpin. He went to—
Danny read the line again
—He went to the same college as Mom and Dad. The year looked right, too. They might have even graduated in the exact same year. If only Danny could still check Dad’s college ring in the bottom of their junk drawer.
Wisconsin. Vlad Masters lived in Wisconsin.
…Danny was really lucky he was never all that hungry anymore.
Danny got another cup of water at the coffee shop, washed his face in the bathroom, and got ready to fly another night.
He was no sextant, but he could probably figure out how to get to Wisconsin after a couple of hours of flying, and a little time to gauge the sky.
It would be easy.
…Danny’s white-topped, pale face stared back at him from the restroom mirror.
It had to be. It would have to be easy.
*
So, a cheese castle looked a lot like a regular castle.
Danny squinted up at the stonework. Nah, that looked like…a castle. That being said, it looked more specifically like the castle he was looking for—the one that had been featured in Vlad Masters’s house tour in Architecture Daily magazine two years ago.
Same…roof bits. Same big door. Danny swallowed. Same…tower? Were there better words for these? There were definitely better words for all the tricky stone bits in the castle.
Whatever. Danny was praying that the man was actually home today, as opposed to flying across the country on some kind of business trip. Rich people did business trips, right?
Danny floated up to the front door. There was no doorbell.
…Danny bit his lip. Okay. So there was no doorbell. There was a very large, brass door knocker. It looked kind of like a big monster face, with a ring held in its teeth.
The knocker was just high enough off the ground that Danny had to float to get there. Lifting it was a struggle.
When it knocked, the whole door buzzed with sound.
Danny waited.
…He waited.
And…Danny waited.
No one came.
Danny picked at the skin of his lip. What if he just…went in?
Like. It was a big house. Maybe Vlad Masters just hadn’t heard him at all? Maybe he was just…in the basement or something…?
Danny paced midair. On one hand. He’d come all this way. He had to follow through. He had to see if there was…something. Anything. Anything at all—anything that could possibly connect Masters to his family.
Any connection that wasn’t Aunt Alicia would be worth breaking and entering.
On the other hand. Home invasion was and would remain illegal.
Danny grimaced.
He…stuck his head through the door.
There was a hallway on the other side. A little end table. A guest book.
…Okay. Danny slipped through the door. He was breaking and entering now— or at least…entering.
Inside was dark. Gloomy. Comfortable, sure— lots of soft furnishings, curtains, couches, pillow, lounging things— but very…opaque in atmosphere.
He was glowing, he noticed. That probably was pretty bad on the “trying not to get caught” scale.
There was no one upstairs. Danny drifted through room after empty room and up into floor after empty floor. There was a kitchen, and the food therein were largely preserved items. There was nothing in the fridge.
Danny’s stomach cramped. There was no one here.
…Maybe he should look downstairs?
The castle got colder the further down he went. The windows that at least allowed the minimal light that escaped through the tree cover in the castle vanished. The only light left was Danny.
Danny floated down deeper.
There were doors made of metal in a long, stone hallway. Each had different numbers on them. Danny followed the rows of doors.
There were wires on the floor. They were organized by color and bound by little ties, until they weren’t, and Danny eventually ran out of tangled webs of red and blue plastic to follow.
They ended at a closed door.
Danny hesitated. He poked his head through.
On the other side was a ghost.
Danny jerked back. He’d— he clapped his hand over his mouth. That was—! And sure, Danny was something like that now, but he’d never seen—!
He should leave. Danny should leave.
Danny barely made it three doors down.
Going somewhere? something asked him. Danny shivered.
The ghost appeared on his left in ethereal white, black hair pulled behind him in some sort of half-halo. Unlike Danny, who was in something like half-hazmat, half-hoodie, the ghost wore a long, glowing labcoat, appropriate PPE beneath.
Danny’s breath fogged up in his mouth. He flinched. “Sorr—” he tried. “Sorry, I’m sorry. I’m not supposed to be here.”
The ghost looked at him with bright red eyes. Danny floated a few steps back. Spying, are you?
Danny shook his head. “No!! No, I just— I was looking for— I wasn’t spying! I’m sorry! I didn’t know you li— died here! I’ll leave!”
The ghost’s head tilted. For a second, Danny thought that he was going to throw a punch. And then—
You’re already here, the ghost pointed out, and opened a door. Beyond it was…something similar to a doctor’s office. An examination table with the paper on it. One of those blood pressure cuffs, attached to a printer for the readout. A sink. Sundry tongue depressors. You may as well consent to be helped.
“...Helped with what?” Danny asked nervously, fingers flexing. “I’m sorry, I don’t understand.”
The ghost hummed— not in the way voices hummed, but in the way high voltage sang in distant powerlines. You are newly formed, aren’t you? Most can tell a ghost’s nature from its presence alone.
Danny looked away. “Um. You know. You might be the first ghost I’ve ever met.”
The ghost’s feet almost touched the ground. It stared down at him. It was taller than he was, and when it stared, it made Danny want to run away.
…Truly, the ghost asked(?), and it took Danny a second to realize it was a question.
“Maybe I died a little recently…” Danny tried, trailing off into a mumble. Was there a right answer to this?
…I see. That would make this check-up more urgent, then. Might I encourage you to come this way?
Danny followed him into the room.
It felt… It looked and felt exactly like any other doctor’s appointment, excepting that the doctor involved in the process had blue skin and fangs and a hairstyle that defied gravity. The ghost still wore gloves and didn’t poke him or prod him too hard, though, so that was a bonus.
Danny got his pulse taken. (None.) Danny got his lungs checked. (Not breathing.) Danny got his resonance? looked at? Whatever that was? It was a big scanny thing that looked like an X ray and took pictures of his chest.
The readings were real pretty, whatever they were; the whole film print was taken up with splotches of white and clear blue. It kind of shimmered when Danny tilted his head.
You’re quite powerful for a newly formed ghost, the ghost offered, overlooking papers Danny couldn’t quite see on his clipboard. It flipped through once. Twice. You’re clearly not attached to your place of death, so that’s not why… Are you aware of any compulsions to follow an Obsession yet…?
A ghostly obsession? Danny knew what that was— it was one of his parents’ theories on why ghosts persisted after death! Was it was true?
“Um,” Danny said, unsure. He hadn’t…had he? “Not that I know of?”
The ghost paused. It clicked its pen. It marked something down on Danny’s chart. Interesting.
Ominous.
May I quickly test something? the ghost asked, looking up at Danny. It would only take a moment. If it does not work, there will be no other side effects other than mild discomfort and an activated flight response.
Danny shifted. The paper crackled underneath him. “...Does it hurt?”
No.
The ghost added nothing more.
Danny’s…head jerked up and down. It was fine. It would be fine.
The ghost’s hand circled his wrist. Its touch burned like fire.
And then light, like how Danny burned away one form for another—
—Danny was left on the table, no longer weightless, no longer breathless. He was flesh. He was human again.
Vlad Masters stared back at him.
…Huh.
Mr. Masters— Vlad?— licked dry lips, staring at Danny, whose wrist he still held. Danny…didn’t know if he could move. Danny didn’t know if he knew how to move.
“...Daniel?” Mr. Masters’s voice cracked. His eyes moved up and down Danny’s body, from his raggedy hair to his dirt-stained clothes to his beat-up shoes. “Daniel Fenton?”
Danny winced. “It’s just Danny,” he offered hoarsely. His throat bobbed. “You…know me?”
Mr. Masters moved his grip to Danny’s hand, apparently moved to tears. Without the red in his eyes, he just looked…human enough. “Daniel— Danny, how did you— Are you dead? What happened?”
Danny felt the weight of everything push down on him again, as if it had ever let up on him since the portal incident. Mom and Dad’s funerals. Jazz in the emergency room. Being resuscitated by the EMTs. Getting shipped out to Aunt Alicia’s house without warning.
“House blew up.”
That was succinct enough, right?
The man’s face turned devastated. “I heard— I’m so, so sorry. I’m so sorry, Danny.”
…It was more concern than anyone had shown in a long time. His eyes were wet before he knew it. When he wiped his face with his sleeve, the dampness was enough to leave little streaks of mud on his face— and, ugh, he felt filthy.
“It’s okay,” Danny lied, because it wasn’t. He pressed his sleeve to his eyes. “It’s…you know my parents?”
Mr. Masters took a deep, surprised breath. “Yes. We…weren’t in contact after we graduated from school together, but Jack always… He asked me by email to be your godfather, right before you were born. I said yes, but I have no idea if he ever filed the paperwork.”
Oh.
…Oh.
There were clearly more secrets here. Mr. Masters was a ghost, and so was Danny. He lived in a giant castle that was clearly haunted, which was made obvious by the owner. He was Danny’s godfather, and Danny had never once met him.
And he wasn’t Aunt Alicia.
Danny sucked the spit off of his teeth with his tongue. “Can I stay here?”
Mr. Masters made a wounded, desperate expression. “I would rather you did.”
“Can you teach me how to be a ghost?”
The man persevered through what were clearly heavy feelings. “...If I must.”
“Can I have dinner?” was Danny’s final question. “Like. On the regular?”
There was a second where Mr. Masters’s eyes went red. The castle suddenly felt taut with anticipation. Fury crawled on Danny’s skin. He could feel the pressure digging in search of some way to burrow into his flesh.
And then it was gone.
“Of course you can. You are a growing boy.”
Danny smiled shyly, barely showing his teeth. When he smiled for real in the mirror, he had fangs. It was better not to. “Cool.”
Mr. Masters nodded. And when Danny looked down at the floor, he changed his grip so that Danny could hold his hand and hop down like normal.
“It will be alright,” Mr. Masters promised quietly. It seemed to be just as much for him as it was for Danny. “Or…I’ll take care of it. Whatever happens. You’re not alone, Danny.”
Danny had been alone for almost half a year. It had felt like forever. “Thanks.” He sniffed.
They walked upstairs from the basement laboratory together, in a way Mom and Dad never would again.

Ectoberhaunt Day 1 - Past
Word Count: 1822
AO3
When Jack and Maddie unexpectedly request Alicia take in Danny, she can’t help but worry that there are deeper problems at hand.
Tags: Angst, Slight Injury
—
It was an intervention, they had said. Some time away for him to deal with what had happened. The quiet din of the farm would be better for Danny than the constant clamour of Amity Park.
What has happened, Alicia still doesn’t know.
She sits at the kitchen table, the dogs circling around her feet. It’s only ever been her, Jip and Alec for a while now, at least since her last divorce.
And now Danny should be arriving soon. Of course, she loves her niece and nephew, even if it has been sometime since she’s seen them. The boy, she thinks, was obsessed with space. The girl, intuitive and a bit too in tune with the human psyche.
Alicia sips her coffee, pondering over what could be so bad it forced Maddie to take such a drastic decision. Amity Park and Spittoon aren’t exactly a stones throw away from one another.
There had been an accident of sorts, she remembers. Something to do with that ridiculous laboratory. An electric shock, was it?
But that was nearly a year ago. And Maddie hadn’t sounded half as concerned on the phone about that incident than the current predicament.
Then, she’s taken out of her thoughts by Jip whining, a high pitch that makes her ears ring.
‘Shush, you.’ Alicia scolds, chair scraping the tiled floor as she gets up. The collie dog paces to the door, the sputtering of an engine dying outside.
They’re here. Alicia’s not sure what to expect as she grabs the door handle, yanking it down with extra strength. She’s been too busy to fix that—but now it’ll be backlogged even more with Danny’s arrival.
It’s hard to miss the large tank currently imposing over her tiny house, gadgets arraying green and silver on the roof that she has no clue of.
“Alicia!” That’s the sound of one Jack Fenton leaping out the side of the..thing. Alicia doesn’t miss the clear bags under his eyes, the strain to his voice.
“Do I have to be here?” A sarcastic tone.
Danny is tiny. Alicia nearly topples over in shock, her hand finding the doorframe and feet cementing to the porch stairs. Jip whines, perceptive to the change.
Last time she saw him, a good few years, her nephew had been chatty and incessant about space. He’d always been small, a given since he was born six weeks premature. But this..it’s different.
He’s sickly. Frail. There’s a gauntness to his cheeks, a sharp edge where he was once rounded out with baby fat. His limbs are toothpicks, white needles marred with blemishes and blotches. A bandage twines around Danny’s left arm, clinging on as if it’s holding him together.
His clothes are filthy, torn and stained with green. She remembers Maddie mentioning...ectoplasm, perhaps? But after the accident, she thought Danny would have avoided the lab. At least that’s where she assumes it came from.
“Come in.” Alicia barely stutters through, shoving the door open. “Maddie not with you?”
“No.” Jack's demeanour instantly darkens. He turns to Danny, “I’ll get your things out the car, son. You go in.”
“Fine.” Danny folds his arms, scowling.
Great. Seemingly Danny’s sarcastic phase has set in, just another thing to deal with during this enigmatic stay. How long he’s staying for, Alicia doesn’t actually know. The weekend? Weeks? The whole summer?
They both enter the house, Danny begrudgingly following behind her like a lost puppy. As does Jack, two small duffel bags in his hands.
“Right son, I’ll leave you to it then?” Jack says, moving forward towards Danny, arms outstretched.
“Yeah, dad.” Danny takes a step back, hands in his pockets. Jack falters, the smile disappearing from his face.
“Oh—sorry, Danny. Your arm. I’ll—“
And with that, Jack vacates her small cabin, leaving only her and Danny standing around the table. He’s hunched over, like he’s being scrutinised. Or would rather be anywhere else.
What the hell happened?
—
“You’re in on it, aren’t you?” Is the first thing Danny says to her the next morning.
“What?” Is the only way she can respond as she pours milk into her cereal. Danny regards her, his glare icy.
She’d barely slept last night, ruminating over what could’ve happened. A fall out between Danny and his parents? Had he broken something in the lab, gotten injured?
“Why else would Mom and Dad send me here?” Danny folds his arms, looking down into his bowl of uneaten cereal.
“I don’t know. They thought you needed a break? They’re concerned about you.” An honest answer.
“They haven’t been concerned about me. Care more about the ghosts.” He shoves his chin into his hands, voice muffled so Alicia can barely hear.
She won’t deny Jack and Maddie are…absent as best. But she knows they do care deeply about Danny.
“Is this what it’s about? They’re focused more on their work than caring for you and Jazz?” Alicia asks, feeling the dread pool in her stomach. “Something happened to you and you wished they’d notice?”
Suddenly, the kitchen drops a few degrees.
Although the fire is blasting in the next room over, Jip curled beside, the hairs prick on Alicia’s neck. Tension curdles in her stomach as she watches Danny tense his fists into his hair. Toothpick arms, trembling.
He’s not the same as he was a few years ago. Sure, teenagers are meant to grow, become snappy, but this isn’t sarcasm or wit.
It’s fear.
“Danny,” she reaches forward, despite the trembling in her hands.
His eyes snap up. Icy. Once kind, sweet. Now filled with terror.
“Nothing—nothing happened to me!” He stammers out.
Which means something did.
“I don’t. It wasn’t meant to come out like this. Mom and Dad, they saw me, and I didn’t think. Not all of it, but they saw something. And now Mom won’t talk to me, and now they’re suspicious.”
“Suspicious?” Alicia hesitates. Danny has a secret of sorts? That he’s scared of Jack and Maddie knowing. That Maddie refuses to talk to him.
“It was this.” Danny gives her a fleeting look before gesturing to his shoulder, where the bloody bandage is still wrapped. On closer inspection she sees that there’s flecks of green in the bandage. Ectoplasm?
“You got into the lab? That ectoplasm stuff?”
“No, Aunt Alicia.I—I bleed it.”
What. Alicia’s ears ring as she shoves her chair back, the shrill noise echoing throughout the room. Rounding the table, she goes to Danny’s left.
“Can I?” She asks cautiously, gesturing to his arm.
The hesitance is clear in his posture, shoulders hunched by his ears, eyes wide, unblinking (were they always that blue?).
“You really don’t know, do you?” Danny mumbles, realisation seeping into his gaze. “They didn’t bring me here because they wanted you to get info.”
“You think they’d do that?” Alicia responds, trying to repress how appalled she is, both at his parents and his arm. The injury is far unlike anything she’s even seen, and living on a farm brings a range of afflictions.
Green bruises mottle most of the skin, from dark to lighter patches. It’s a burn of sorts, a mixture of green and red like a dated Christmas store.
“How’d you get this?” Alicia asks, as Danny tenses uncomfortably.
“Does it matter?” he deflects. “I’ve been like this for ages now.”
Ah. The green blood. Bleeding ectoplasm. What was a while back?
“Was it..was it your lab accident?” Alicia tenses. Now that she thinks, she can remember the phone call from Maddie, excitedly telling her about their ‘portal’, their life’s work. And then an extra tidbit about Danny having an electric shock, but that he was okay and seemed fine.
What if it had been worse, and Danny hadn’t told his parents?
“What if it was? What if it..changed me?”
”Look, kid. Trauma from that accident doesn’t mean you’ve changed, you’re still the sa—“
”It’s not like that, okay?! Sure, with the amount of psychoanalysis Jazz does on me, we know the accident traumatised me. But it’s not that.” Danny interrupts, twisting on his chair to face her.
Alicia pauses. Lets herself take a step back from Danny and sit back down, breakfast forgotten.
It’s clear this is serious. Alicia hates to think of the implications. Danny was in an accident much more serious than first thought. And not only he his hid it from his parents in fear of them finding out whatever it’s done, but they’ve never noticed.
How long ago was that accident? A year? And her sister and Jack had never noticed anything wrong until whatever had injured Danny had come to their attention?
”Okay, kid. I get it.” She puts her hands up in a placating gesture. If the accident was seriously altering, then it’s not something she wants to go interrogating him about. “How’d you get your wound?”
“What?!” The switch of topic has Danny sputtering, looking down at his arm. He regards her with narrowed eyes. “Why’d you want to know?”
”So I can re-bandage it. Is it a burn?” She gets up from the chair, opening the drawer besides the sink. Suddenly, Jip and Alec burst through the kitchen door, tails wagging.
”It’s not treats, you silly pair!” The dogs curiously nudge at Alicia’s legs as she approaches back to Danny, bandages and burn cream at hand.
”Yeah, a burn. Ectogun.”
”An ectogun. Isn’t that your pa—?”
”Yup.” Danny licks his lips, looking away, as if he’s considering something. “They didn’t know it was me.”
What?
”They shot you?!” This time, there’s no hiding the horror in her voice. This has to be a mistake. An awful, horrible accident. Maddie and Jack wouldn’t shoot Danny deliberately, they couldn’t. Wouldn’t.
Maybe they hadn’t seen him? Out ghost hunting and he’d got caught in the fray?
”Yeah…” Danny replies. “The accident, when I say it changed me..I look different?”
”What, you’re a ghost?” Alicia scoffs. Maybe it’s her mind trying to find reprieve in the absolute bombshell, to try and find humour.
Then she sees the trembling hands, the frozen posture. Temperature of the room dropped. Jip and Alec pacing, ears pinned back, needle-focused on Danny.
”You—y’know that one Mom goes on about?” Danny’s breath hitches, his eyes bleary, “The one she’s got a real hatred for, the one she wants to dissect?”
She can’t forget. Phantom. News channels have never reached Spittoon with ghost news, but there’s no need, since Maddie likes to update her.
How Phantom is evil, the terror of Amity Park. Yet how he’s different, somehow more complex and never sticks to a routine like the others—how she’d love to capture him.
’That ghost terrorises us, Lise. The day me and Jack capture it, imagine the breakthroughs we’d have. The research potential!”
Phantom, the ghost Maddie wants to experiment on.
Phantom, the ghost that is Danny.
Alicia feels sick.

A lot of people draw Danny like he’ll inherit his dads physique, and yeah future!Dan is big and bulky, but what if he got his moms physique and jazz got their dads. Danny stays shorter, maybe hitting 5’9 at the most, but he has lots of lean muscle and strong legs. He has a tiny waist and long legs making Paulina so jealous in their senior year. Jazz hits 6’2 and gets broad and buff. I’m thinking Abby Anderson from tlou meets their aunt Alicia. She barely goes to the gym. Just all the ghost hunting keeps her fit and she fills out naturally.
Instead of growing up to look like the same gendered parent, they look like gender bent versions of the other parent.

untapped potential for taking the Wes Weston idea and making him and Danny related. And by that I mean cousins, Wes is Aunt Alicia's kid who either has full or partial custody with her ex husband. that's why they look similar enough for people to think he kinda sorta looks like phantom. So some of those people think conspiracy boy doth protests too much and trying badly to get people off his tail.
Alicia sends Wes to go to school at Casper High, (you come up with a reason.) so he stays with the Fenton's while he's there. (Or just make it a few days special, they're staying with the Fenton's as a visit) He hates it there and his cousins are definitely hiding something and he's gonna find out what because he's got nothing else to do. and he's an aspiring sleuth.

"I'm telling you, she's the best bloody runes expert this side of the Mississippi," John Constantine told the other members of the Justice League as he raised his hand to knock on the old screen door. He hadn't expected his ex-wife to stay here, in the middle of bum-fuck nowhere, but Spittoon, Arkansas, was the hill-billy hole it was when he last left. "If anyone can decipher the ritual to summon the ghost king, it's her--"
The door disappeared before he could knock, and a shotgun was shoved in his face. John smiled the best he could. "Hey, sweetheart."
Alicia Walker glared back at him. "Constantine."
*******************************************
This is the "John Constantine used to be married to Danny Fenton's Aunt Alicia" AU. Some idea's I've had:
Maddie introduced them. Maddie had dragged Alicia into studying ghosts, but Alicia ended up fascinated by the occultism of ghosts, more metaphysical than scientific. Maddie, wanting to support the sister that was supporting her, found Constantine, introduced the two, and they got along enough to bang.
it was a shotgun wedding. Alicia got pregnant and damn if she was going to let her baby be born without a father, so John ends up marrying her. He doesn't really mind since Alicia's nice enough and the sex is good, but he isn't exactly an attentive husband.
The baby is actually twins! a boy and a girl.
The babies are born without complications, but the baby boy, the first born... goes missing.
In addition to selling his soul to multiple parties, John had also sold the soul of his first born... probably to multiple parties. And he'd forgotten all about it until Alicia calls him, sobbing, saying their son has gone missing.
Needless to say, once she knows, John is divorced within the week.
the newborn daughter is given to Maddie to take care of; Alicia can even look at her without remembering her dead son, she knows she wouldn't be able to take care of a baby the way it needs. she can barely take care of herself.
(Jazz finds out that her aunt is her biomom when Danny is born. She never hates her aunt for giving her up; in fact, it's Alicia's depression and grief that makes Jazz want to study psychology in the first place)
Alicia moves to Spittoon to isolate herself, but the close knit community won't let her self-destruct. They help her rebuild herself in the middle of nowhere and she discovers a love for farming rhubarb.
John only shows up once before for Alicia's help, but the town chases away that nasty ex-husband of hers before she sees him, with his yuppie-accent and dirty clothes. They don't want him around her.
Alicia grows content with her life. She keeps all her occult books locked in the attic, out of sight and out of mind, and while she might regret not having been able to raise her daughter, she loves her niece and nephew and spoils them when they come to visit.
All's right in the world.
Until one day, Jazz and Danny come to her door in the middle of the night, desperate and injured.
Not too long after that, her yuppie ex-husband come around, asking her to look over some nonsense summoning circle. What's Constantine trying to summon anyway, the demon of astrology!?

After 02
Words: 100 Characters: Aunt Alicia Warnings: Implied character undeath?
For Ectoberhaunt Day 4, Came Back Wrong Also on AO3
Summer in Arkansas saw the kind of rain that washed the world white.
When it cleared, Alicia checked on the grave. Rain had compressed the loose earth, but it seemed fine. She squelched off to check on the rhubarb.
The voices of the woods around her were familiar. The voice calling her name that night was familiar in a different way.
"Aunt Alicia?"
Knocking.
She grabbed a gun and cracked the door open.
A boy stood on her porch, dressed in ratty clothes and teenage gangles. Brown caked his fingertips.
In the kerosene light, Danny's eyes glowed like a cat's.

did anyone want more lore for alicia custody timeline au danny...? i also gave him a nickname, though i’ll still mostly call him daniel.
he is essentially the good counterpart to dan so in my mind a lot of his story beats would parallel what we’re shown of dan’s intro and origin, but with happier outcomes. so he’s able to move on from his grief thanks to alicia... until the divorce causes him to backslide.
(yes, he married young. that could have been part of the problem.)
i did see someone suggest the idea that daniel’s ex wife was valerie but as interesting as that would be to explore it kinda doesnt line up with my ideas - he stays in arkansas for more than a decade. might be nice for them to have some kind of reverse hallmark movie slowburn romance after reuniting in amity park though...

Like grandfather like grandson
Danny x Val Ra's al Ghul father of Alicia and Maddie Ex-LoA Maddie, who had good relationship with Ra. Danny and Jazz's very busy grandfather, Ra's al Ghul, pays a surprise visit to Amity Park, leaving Maddie Fenton both intrigued and happy. Jazz was happy to talk with her grandfather again; the last time they did was because she told him she didn't want to rule his cult.
Ra's was interested in his grandson; imagine his surprise to learn his descendant built his own group! And took care a problem he wanted to take care of.
Danny, even with his ghostly abilities, also inherits a part of his grandfather's legacy, he formed his own elite group.
