off's BD gathering 2025

hi hi! so I thought I'd gather my personal thoughts as well as the important talking points off talked about during the gathering!

first of all, I was super surprised to be able to get a seat to the gathering this year. last year I didn't get a seat at all & I was super sad so this year felt unreal, hence why I didn't talk about it online until it happened by fear of jinxing it (I tend to have random bad luck sometimes so now I keept cards close to my chest lol).

I didn't know at all how the gathering would go since it was my first one, but it was pretty casual & quite short which was good bc I was there on 4 hours of sleep due to the excitement for this event (I can never sleep before any off/offgun event I go to lol)

I ended up sat next to a quite famous twitter account & she was super nice, she first talked to me in english but by the end she saw that I was laughing at the jokes, etc. and asked me if I spoke thai so I said yes and it led to a funny moment lol. her & the woman on my left both complimented my thai so that's always pleasant 🥹

now the man of the hour, p'off! I loved his denim look today with the eyes all over his shirt, and obviously I won't bore you by repeating how amazing he is & how much I love him. he offered every fan a red enveloppe after the gathering which was so fucking sweet, imagine doing that for the 700 people who came!

his mom, sibling & niece and nephew niring & akin came to support him and it was super sweet! of course his ride or dies, gun, tay, new and arm came to celebrate his birthday as well! now onto the contents of the gathering:

burnout syndrome:

p'off revealed that burnout syndrome has started its workshops already!!! that's so exciting!!! I really didn't have hope to get this show in 2025 but maybe there's hope this time around!!!

he talked about dewgun's chemistry and when asked about offdew, he seemed to not want to push it further. I didn'tg understand 100% of what he said so let's wait for other translations but he DID mention the idea of a offgundew three-way ship!!! soooooo... let's see 👀

off talked in length about him getting fit, and mentionned again that p'nuchie kinda bullies him ngl 😭 like she legit called him and said "if you don't get a six pack for this project, you better quit. you're old, people are gonna get bored if you don't change" which... idk how to feel about ngl hahaha

not really burnout syndrome related but off talked briefly about not me & how challenging the workshops for it were, mentioning the workshops for burnout that are apparently also difficult. he says he will bring something new & better to his acting for this role.

break up service:

sadly off said that he has no idea when the show will air but it should be soonish? I feel like the show is gonna get pushed by gmmtv giving priorities to other shows first :((((( me who was thinking we'd get the show in 2 to 3 weeks lol... I need off on my screen asap!

fans:

speaking of break up service & his ship with jorin, off said he is very glad that babiis never harass or treat his female co-stars badly. he mentioned mild, pat and jorin, and how all three were glad to not be bullied by the fandom lol... thank goodness babiis are healthy & supportive for the most part 💚

before that, out of nowhere, off went on a tangent talking about certain toxic fans and how much he doesn't like them and is glad babiis are kind & supportive. he said he used to be more aggressive with fans in the past if they crossed a line, but babiis have behaved better since then so he's appreciative for his healthy fandom. (this was really out of nowhere & I LOVED off mentioning that. I love how straight forward & how unwilling to walk on eggshells he is. a KING.)

offtay:

before tay even showed up, off mentioned tay at least 4 times in random convos lol. you can tell he LOVES and is obsessed with his bestie, it's so cute!

tay hugged off after saying he loves him, something that they both recognized they never say bc while they know they love each other, off gets shy & doesn't like to say it out loud lol

oh also tay started his birthday wish to off by calling him "nong off" and ngl... that did something to me 🥵

offgun:

gun was, as always, very quiet & shy lol. off did say that he loved him while confessing his love to every friend present there, and... it was giving awkward idiots in a romcom lol (basically off was explaining how he doesn't say I love you to his friends and pointed to each of them while saying "I love you" but stumbled on his words when he got to gun diosuhgzqsijdiezo)

tay called gun off's "thirak" (darling) and tried to get gun to confess his love for off but gun had the definition of a gay panic and kept flailing his hands to refuse the mic, I was dead lmaoooooo

offnew:

offnew's chaotic energy is really slowly becoming my all time fave lmao, new called off old & they kept whispering to each other while tay did his speech, it was so funny!

offarm:

arm literally called off his brother and his family, sooooo... yeah. that's all. I adore them. besties for life ;_;

personal life:

off apologized a lot about not uploading a lot on social media these days. he said he is addicted to staying home and watching cartoons (anime), specifically attack on titans lol. he says he's gonna get back to posting more very soon.

off said his biggest dream as a kid was to have a house with a pool. now that he's building his house, he feels like his dream is coming to life 💚

he said he's not someone who loses sleep over things. he knows that he'll be better to solve a stressful problem the next day after getting some sleep rather than not sleeping & being too tired to solve the problem bc of it (I'm very jealous of him I could NEVER. once again I slept 4 hours bc I was so excited to see him lol.)

he also said his goal for 2025 is to travel to the US, either for a trip or for work. he talked specifically about new york & miami (I was cringing internally bc I'd rather not he goes to the US rn lol, but NYC do be that bitch imo)

alice said off is trying to get better at english for his interfans but he refused to speak on stage bc he was too shy hahaha (but he spoke english to me tho 🥹)

off also said he almost never smiles with teeth (except when a client requests it) bc he thinks he looks weird & is insecure about his smile ;_; (first time I heard this omg I felt so bad his smile with teeth is literally my fave!!!)

off also talked about how straightforward he is, and how that used to cause him problems in the past and how gmmtv crew asked him to tone it down lol. but alice rightfully said that that's what we love about him, he doesn't have a filter & that's why we stan! it's so rare to get an honest celebrity these days lol

events:

off talked about the babii 24/7 concert, and especially the part when he cried. he said it was mostly due to tiredness, bc he was doing so much at the time (and yes at the time of the concert he'd been working & traveling non-stop for over 2 months while grieving his dad's super recent passing...)

he also talked about going to paris for the fashion week, and how big of an achievement it was. he said it was crazy to meet pharrell williams, his idol since he was young, and he was happy to hang out with baifern even if it was short. he also said he was so shocked that the crowd in front of the venue was waiting for him and calling his name 🥹 he said he stayed under the rain to sign the autographs and was soaked, but it was an amazing experience. he also said he wishes tay had been with him so they could explore the city together ;_; (as previously said he mentionned tay a LOT)

he talked about the recent fanmeet in rome, and how certain fans flew from all over the world to meet him there. he compared rome to ayutthaya due to their ancient monuments (which made me chuckle but actually the comparison is not that far off I guess HAHAHA)

he talked about the pebaca concert and said we should all dress up to come to the concert (not sure what that fully entails lol). he also said he can't say too much but there will be some special thing there (which he said is best bc he said he can't carry a show with his poor singing and dancing, and... sir we disagree. at least about the singing lol.)

anyways that's it! it was an amazing experience & I always feel so grateful to be able to partake in fandom experiences here in bkk 🥹 this is the kind of shit I always dreamed about when living in paris & I legit never thought it'd be possible to be this close to my favorite guy ;_; happy birthday to him again & I can't wait for this upcoming year of loving him more & more 💚

Dvaesdvaes pesmarica ili ti dvanaest omiljenih pesama koje sam otkrio u prošloj godini.

1. The Bridgeheads - Best Ones

Bridgeheads je bend koji sam otkrio još 2013. godine kada sam upisao treću godinu srednje. Radi se tročlanoj audio porodici (čitaj bendu) poreklom iz Slovačke koji je u svom muzičkom nastojanju bio jedan od najminimalnijih i tehnikalnijih sastava koje sam do tada čuo, a i sada takođe. Pesma Best Ones je u repertoaru ovog benda jedna od hitičnijih, ali i jedna koja mi je svakako promicala do nedavno. Početak pesme se odlikuje minimalnom repeticijom riffa koji se provlači kroz čitavu strofu i progresiju tonova koji su u svom nedostatku bassa kao ritmičkog i melodijskog faktora naglašeni kroz dvožičanu gitaru (zamenjujući bass, svirajući samo oktave) koja je tehničko rešenje pevača Tomaša Bobovčaka, a ujedno i komplementarno zvuku ove grupe kao takvo. Bubanj seva po dobošu i timpanima u kratkoj sekvenci koja se kao i ostatak instrumentacije, ponavlja, evocirajući svojom utilizacijom minimalnog ritma na sviranje Stephen Morrisa iz Joy Divisiona. Tekstopisac i autor, Tomaš Bobovčak poznatiji i kao Tomaš dAsK ne uskraćuje sebi na sirovoj iskrenosti od samog početka pesme, ali ova "brutalna istina" definitivno eskalira u refrenu, manje kroz instrumentaciju, a više poetski i to posebno u tekstu:

If only you'd be here forever

And life would have no end

People like us will stay together

In memories we share

Pesma dolazi do svog logičkog kraja na samoj sredini trajanja i nakon drugog refrena gde se čitava drama svodi na ponavljanje rečenice:

We are the best ones

Nakon čega Tomaš avetinjski zavija ponavljajući iste ove reči do kraja, time naglašavajući subsekventnost ove pesme nakon logičkog svršetka, aludirajući na ljudski život, prag smrti i večnost.

2. Kino - Gruppa Krovi

Cenim da sam jedan od retkih koji je živeo ispod kamena u odnosu na rusku muzičku scenu, a isto tako i u odnosu na ovaj bend. Kino je esencijalni sovijetski post punk sastav, a frontmen korejskog porekla Viktor Tsoi koji je bio glumac i pesnik predominantno, je posthumno dobio status urbane legende, kako zbog stvaralaštva tako i zbog sumnjivog uzroka smrti koji je bio saobraćajka iza koje, kako se veruje, stoji KGB. Naime pesma Gruppa Krovi (Krvna Grupa) iz moje perspektive je igra reči na primarno značenje iste, gde se Krvna Grupa ne odnosi na tip hemoglobina već na vojnike u ratu kao krvnu grupu (krvnike). Dakle pesma je evidentno anti ratna. Instrumentacija ove pesme za mene predstavlja jedan od najminimalnijih muzičkih poduhvata, a da je pride koherentan i da i dalje ima strukturu tradicionalne pop pesme (strofa-refren-strofa). Moj utisak ove pesme jeste Interpol pre Interpola, pogotovu u karakteru bassa i načinu na koji se isti utilizuje, ponekad isplivavajući iz primarnog tona, da bi odsvirao još po koji ton na skali istog, dok je preteći karakter ono što prožima bass deonice na ovoj traci. Tekst koji je na ruskom je dobar, a posebno u refrenu gde glasi:

3. The Cigarettes - Screaming, Dreaming

Ovaj bend za mene je skoro na ivici obskurnosti, ne zbog sadržaja već zbog informacija o bendu odnosno nedostatku istih. Za sam bend bih rekao da su (na osnovu ove jedne pesme) karakterističan, ali neuobičajen punk bend iz ere gde se alternativna muzika već nazirala. Postoji neko nepisano pravilo, da ako bend čini trojac, onda nekako moraju da kidaju što ovaj sastav baš i radi. A to se ogleda u mom omiljenom delu ove pesme koji je na kraju gde gitare eskaliraju u rokerskoj kakofoniji, nakon čega pesma odlazi u fejd aut, eskalirajući zauvek.

4. Zibra - Better Off Alone

Zibra je bio kratkotrajni projekat elektronskog muzičara (čitaj maga) i jutjubera Sam Battlea sa kanala LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER koji mu je i moniker za solo projekat kao i hub za svoju audio tehnološku eksploraciju. Sama pesma je obrada 90s dens pevačice Alice DJ tj. njenog hita sa kraja devedesetih, Better Off Alone. Slušajući original mogu reći da je pesma dobila improvement u ovoj obradi koja je u maniru elektro indie džinova poput MGMTa i LCD Soundsystema. Nažalost sam bend ne postoji više, ali Sam Battle je tu, i dalje stvara kako pesme tako i gitarske pedale.

5. Cypis - Gdzie jest biały węgorz? (Zejście)

U Poljskoj možda nema poznatijeg izvođača, a toliko anonimnog kao što je Cypis. Kao ruska scena, poljski hip hop, za mene je isto tako neispitano polje. Naslov pesme Gdzie jest biały węgorz? (Zejście) koji u prevodu znači Gde je bela jegulja? (Spuštanje) je samoobjašnjiv, aludirajući na probleme sa adikcijom kao i na krizno stanje koje može uslediti nakon spuštanja sa dejstva droge. Pesma se odlikuje minimalnom instrumentacijom i austeričnim vokalom, dok se u raspoloženju ove trake može naći vapidna apatičnost kakva se može zateći na ranim izdanjima Gorillaz. Spot za pesmu je urađen analogno, u inspiraciji evocirajući na Trainspoting. Tekst pesme ima svoje hajlajtove, na momente spajajući banalnu džanki patetiku sa egzistencijalizmom i to u delu:

6. White Town - Your Woman

Your Woman je pesma koja naprosto zrači nostalgijom. A isto tako ostavlja utisak nečega što je već slušano u prošlosti, ali bez jasne sigurnosti o tome koja je zapravo pesma u pitanju. Your Woman je obskurniji one hit wonder koji žanrovski stoji između trip hopa i brit popa što je dosledno drugoj polovini 90s dekade kada je pesma po prvi put i objavljena. Pesma eksplicitno govori o toksičnoj vezi i neminovnoj eksaserbaciji iste. Dok spot na jedan simpatičan način prati raspoloženje pesme.

7. Panchiko - Laputa

O misterioznom sastavu imam ceo tekst, tako da nemam šta da dodam novo što već nisam rekao ili pomislio. Ceo album je mekana melanholija i prava je poslastica za slušanje. Ovu pesmu sam izdvojio zbog fan made spota koji je napravljen od delova iz Serial Experiments Lain i zato što sam sucker za all things nineties anime i sve stvari koje odišu drugom polovinom devedesetih OK Computerom, Matrixom, ranom digitalizacijom, internetom i naravno anti-konzumerizmom koji se može naći u modernim klasicima poput Fight Cluba koji i u knjizi i u filmskoj interpretaciji odiše urban decay atmosferom što se sociološki odnosi na kraj tradicionalnih etičkih vrednosti i pojavu modernog (digitalizovanog) čoveka tj. onoga koji manje provodi vremena u realnom svetu, a više u svom samoaktuelizovanom, indukovanom mikrosvetu.

8. The American Analog Set - The Wait

Kopanje po lejbelima se nikad nije isplatilo više nego kada sam zakucao na vrata izdavačke kuće Morr Music iz Berlina koja se pretežno bazira na dreampop i indie zvuku, što ujedno predstavlja i lični muzički ukus osnivača iste, Thomasa Morra. Istraživanjem ovog lejbla sam pogodio zlatnu žilu, otkrivši mnoge dobre autore i bendove poput Notwista (koje slušam već 7,8 godina unazad!), Herrman & Kleine, múm, Tarwater i naravno The American Analog Set.

9. Dungen - Stadsvandringar

Postoji određena nepravda u muzičkoj industriji na zapadu tj. jedna od mnogih jer je nažalost muzička industrija kapitalizovana do srži. A kad se kaže zapadni svet misli se na zapadnu kulturu odnosno na engleski govorno područje gde dolazimo do samog problema koji je kulturološka nejednakost i latentni fašizam čak. Ono što pokušavam da objasnim jeste da mnogo veću prohodnost imaju autori koji dolaze iz engleski govornog područija npr. Amerika, Britanija, Kanada i recimo Australija gde ćemo se svakako sa namerom zaustaviti. Slušavši Dungen, bend iz Švedske ili ti više bend projekat švedskog autora Gustav Ejstesa, otkrilo mi se gorepomenuto licemerje i tendencija muzičke industrije da kešira samo najprofitabilnije autore ne mareći za autentičnost, originalnost ili ponekad za autorska prava čak. Kevin Parker, kreativna sila iza australijskog benda Tame Impala stvaralačku iskru kupi od psihodeličnih Beatlesa i ranih albuma Paul McCartneya, ali čitavu estetiku, pristup pa čak i hijerarhijsku strukturu organizacije sopstvenog benda, "posudio" je od skoro deset godina starijeg sastava, Dungen. Ne bacam hejt na čoveka čiji talenat i dalje acclaimujem kao lidžit stvar, ali biti toliko nonšalantan u pozajmici audio estetike je stvarno gde je pregazio liniju, makar za mene. Čak bih dodao da je u rokenrolu "pozajmica" riffova sasvim uobičajena pojava (prvi album Led Zeppelina je dobar primer ovoga), ali preuzeti ceo shtick je tu mač. Zato sad imam problem da slušam TI, otkrivši ove psihodelične šveđane koji pored očigledne prijatne audio estetike svoj kvalitet opravdavaju i dobrim pesmama koje se poigravaju na ivici pop strukture tek toliko, da budu prijatne i zanimljive, ali i dosledne. Preporuka, slušati pa uporediti!

10. Urusei Yatsura - Kewpies Like Watermellon

Fascinacija Velvet Undergroundom je fenomen u svetu rok muzike, a i tema za sebe zapravo. Mada ono čemu se površno možemo obratiti jeste kul faktor ovog benda i činjenica da je njihov rad u muzici kao i stvaralaštvo Lou Reeda uticalo na mirijade autora i bendova koji su se pojavili posle. Naime, Urusei Yatsura su mi privukli pažnju isprva svojim imenom koje su pozajmili od istoimene japanske mange. Ovaj škotski gitarski bend koji je nastao, a i stvarao za vreme brit pop ere, zapada u onu kategoriju bendova koji su po sentimentu više pripadali tadašnjoj američkoj alternativnoj sceni nego hajpu koji se odvijao kod njih. Stoga, Urusei Yatsura stoji sa bendovima poput Elastica, Ash, Swervedriver i Manic Street Preachers. Mada čak i među takvim audio "odmetnicima", UY ima svoje mesto.

11. Abandoned Pools - Master (Clone High)

Protekla godina je bila između ostalog i godina kada sam, zbog gomile slobodnog vremena možda pogledao najviše filmova i serija od bilo koje druge godine. E sad, mim kultura ima mnogo slojeva, neki od kojih su čisto besmisleni, dok neki mogu biti i informativni, čak i kultivišući (Jack Stauber je tako postao popularan na internetu). U ovom slučaju radi se o early 2000s seriji po imenu Clone High, koju kad sam video, pomislio sam, zbog stila crtanja, da je možda sa Cartoon Networka, deleći sličnu vizualnu estetiku sa animiranim serijama poput Samurai Jack i Total Drama Island. Ipak, ova serija nije sa CN, već je sa MTV, što je zbog sadržaja za odrasle, sasvim prikladno. Serija prati priču Abraham Lincolna tj. njegovog klona koji sada ima 15 godina i ide u srednju školu gde susreće klonove Cleopatre koja je najzgodnija riba u školi, JFKa koji je budimo realni, najinteresantniji lik u seriji, konstantno napaljenog Gandija (zbog kojeg je serija i otkazana) i depresivne Jovanke Orleanke. Mada ono što mi je prvo privuklo pažnju jeste uvodna špica koju je napisao Tommy Walter iz benda Abandoned Pools. Ova traka je epitom najntiz zvuka i generacije x. Slušajući ovu pesmu osećao sam se kao da prvi put slušam bendove poput Built To Spill, Pavement i Guided By Voices. Stvarno sjajno!

12. Arianne Schreiber & Shiro Sagisu - Komm, Süsser Tod (Come, Sweet Death)

Prošla godina je tematski bila prava za mnoge stvari. Pored obilnosti introspektivnih razmišljanja, povratka prirodi (a donekle i sebi), takođe su se pogledali mnogi filmovi i serije, naime Hideaki Annovo čedo Neon Genesis Evangelion. NGE sam pogledao prvi put kada sam se doselio u Beograd, negde u februaru 2016. i pored sopstvene tadašnje anksioznosti, gledajući seriju, samo sam pridodavao sebi osećanje nelagadnosti i nervoze. Gledajući seriju opet protekle godine, imao sam totalno drugačije raspoloženje. Umesto blage uznemirenosti, imao sam mir, namesto nelagodnosti, uživao sam u seriji po prvi put. Mada završivši seriju još jednom, osetih da fali širi kontekst nekih dešavanja u istoj. Tada sam pogledao finalizaciju serije u obliku filma, The End Of Neon Genesis Evangelion. Inicijalni hod serije sadrži 26 epizoda, gde se radnja epizoda 25 i 26 odvija u unutrašnjem svetu protagoniste Shinji Ikarija, dok film pruža uvid u spoljašnja dešavanja za vreme navedenih epizoda, time pružajući proširen kontekst za već konfuznu radnju originalne serije. Film doživljava produkcijsko unapređenje, pogotovu u vizualnom odeljenju, gde se neki vizuali održavaju i dan danas.
