✨ Alhaitham Spread DPS Build ✨
🔰 I've been wanting to put out a deep breakdown of my Alhaitham's build for a long time but never actually had the time to collect all the materials. Since I just got his signature weapon yesterday, I was forced to re-build him because he used to use Haran and wore crit damage circlet. Changing his weapon to LoFI means there's gonna be imbalance with his crit ratio.
🔰 Anyway, earlier today I spent all my resin farming for Gilded. And the reason why I can now finally write down his build means that I'm pretty much settled with what he has now. Though it's not the best stats especially one that I expected after getting LoFI, I still think he's pretty decent (for now).
🔰 Disclaimer: This build is not perfect and by no means should be treated as a rigid rule. I just share what I have tested in game and what I know works for me. So always do your own research and take my guide with that note in mind!
Artifact Sets
🔰 Do note that the build that I'm gonna share is meant for him as on field dps, not just a dendro applier. He has many choices for artifact sets but the one I choose is 4 pc Gilded. If it's hard for you to give him 4 pc Gilded, you can also opt for:
2 pc Wanderer 2 pc Gilded
4 pc Deepwood Memories (also works if there's no one else in the team that has this set)
🔰 Alhaitham is really good as spread dps, as well as dendro applier. So EM sands is recommended for him instead of atk%. He uses dendro goblet and crit cirlet. As for his stats, try to aim for at least 350+ EM (more if you have his signature weapon), and 110-130% ER depending on his team (which I will explain later).
Team Composition
Spread team
🔰 Like I said, Alhaitham is really good as spread dps. Spread is a reaction triggered by applying dendro to enemies affected by quicken (electro + dendro).
🔰 Aside from spread team, he can also work in many other dendro reaction team such as bloom or hyperbloom because he has fast dendro application.
Talents Priority
🔰 All of his talents are worth to level up. My priority would be: Skill - normal attack - burst. His skill contributes the most damage for him so try to go for that one first. I don't recommend leaving his burst since it does deal quite a heck ton of damage especially since it does multiple slashes at once.
Weapons Choice
5* choices (left to right): Light of Foliar Incision, Haran Geppaku Futsu, Mistsplitter Reforged, Freedom Sworn
4* and 3* choices (left to right): Xiphos' Moonlight, Toukabou Shigure, Iron Sting, Harbinger of Dawn
🔰 Before I got LoFI, I used to run him with Haran, which actually was pretty good on him since Alhaitham mostly deals damage through his dendro-infused normal attacks so having Haran on him actually supported his kit. And since he's a spread dps who still needs decent crit ratio, I think any 5* crit weapon can work. Honorable mention for Freedom Sworn since it's a 5* EM weapon and EM is very beneficial for him.
🔰 As for his much cheaper weapon choices, I would highly recommend Xiphos as it has EM second stats and its passive helps a lot with your team's entire ER. Any EM weapon can work, so if you have the event-exclusive weapon Toukabou Shigure, that works too. if you don't, you can always craft Iron Sting. And then comes the very last option, Harbinger of Dawn. Though it's a little tricky since you gotta be able to keep Alhaitham's hp above 90% for its passive to work which can be unrealistic sometimes. So if you use this weapon then make sure you have a good shielder with him.
So that’s pretty much my Alhaitham build. Feel free to ask me questions if you have any through my ask box or just leave comment on this post and I’ll respond right away!

The love I hold for Haikaveh being thematically parallel to Nabu Malikata and Deshret is ever abundant and I have Thoughts on it all. I just wish I would ever decide to try and write my thoughts down when I'm in a reasonably awake state to have a shred of sense and not after spending the whole night staying up and pushing myself into sleep depravity.
Anyway, the basic idea is that I think both Kaveh and Alhaitham mirror certain aspects of both gods, but probably are meant to be the happier endings of that type of dynamic/character types. It's not just Kaveh=Nabu Malikata, Alhaitham=Deshret, Alhaitham has certain similarities to Nabu and Kaveh has a lot in common with Deshret (I would even say he is a more narrative foil to Deshret than Alhaitham ever could be). I understand that it's easier to just pick one pair for comparison and be done with it for simplicity's sake, but I'm already neck deep in overthinking, might as well go fully out on it eventually.
Even if I really wanna write this out, I don't know how comprehensive it would be. I make sense to myself, but the moment I try to put anything into concrete words, it suddenly feels like I need to fill in 5 different topics to make any sort of sense and bring the whole conversation to the same page with a common understanding.
Maybe I'll take a nap, that could fix everything.

Alhaitham and Kaveh's dynamic is interesting, because I've seen a lot of people say either "oh my god Kaveh is so mean" or "oh my god Alhaitham treats Kaveh terribly". But, quite importantly imo, in this quest Paimon remarks that she "doesn't know which one of them is more problematic".
I think when considering their relationship you need to look at intention. Do Hoyo want to villainise one of their popular husnandoes as a toxic asshole? No. Even the "villain" playable characters like Childe and Wanderer are nice/funny on occasion. Kaveh and Alhaitham's interactions are intended to be humorous, to make you gasp and say "oh wow I can't believe he just said that!".
Like, during the most recent story quest, for example. Kaveh accusing Alhaitham of having no empathy when he's clearly pretty emotionally stunted and decently moral is mean. But saying "At least I'd be a fungus with empathy!" Undercuts that - it's clear neither Alhaitham nor the player are suppose to take those words seriously.
Alhaitham dismissing Kaveh's field of work with "you work yourself to death just for a smile" is so belittling, but it's a retort to Kaveh saying his scribe job is at "rock bottom" in the Akademiya. Alhaitham isn't lashing out or trying to demean Kaveh in front of others (this interaction happens after the player has "left"); he's just continuing their verbal sparring match. I think people take this jab so seriously because it can be seen as a jab at a lot of people working out of passion, but in the context of the dialogue we're not supposed to regard it so deeply.
It's also fairly clear that nobody in game takes them seriously either. Tighnari says Kaveh is "as pent up as an anemo slime" in his Alhaitham voiceline - another funny quip - and Collei details how hard it was to suppress her laughter when Kaveh was talking about Alhaitham. Nobody thinks they're genuinely bad for one another, or that getting them separated is all that crucial.
Even the interactions in this story quest are just so silly and domestic: Kaveh can't get the painting straight, Alhaitham buys ugly furniture, they're arguing about rent and drink tabs, Kaveh is doing an unfair amount of housework and Alhaitham fucks off without entertaining his own guests. it's funny, or at least it is clearly intended to be.
I've heard that in the other dubs the VAs tones are different and it makes the lightheartedness clearer. Personally I've thought since their first interaction in the AQ that Alhaitham is having fun during their quarrels, and Kaveh is just melodramatic enough to act traumatised even if he isn't truly offended.
Then when it comes to whether their dynamic is supposed to be read platonically or romantically... Well Hoyo won't do anything canon, but it's hard to argue that there is no intentionality in how their relationship is portrayed. What other character(s) has an idle animation directly referencing their relationship with another character? How many other voicelines explicitly reference two characters as a pair? Nahida's Kaveh voiceline, Collei's, Tighnari's - I'm sure there are more. "Roommates" "senior & junior" "academic rivals" -> certainly there's a case to be made that they're just very close, but Kaveh and Alhaitham getting fifteen minutes of epilogue interaction in two different quests (where none of the content is related to either quest) says something. Fanservice, quite possibly.
Also Kaveh's line "We used to be friends, but not anymore"; I've seen plenty of people interpret this as "oh we're not friends, we're dating*". I think this is fun in fanon, but on a canon level it's basically a promise by Hoyo to fix (or explain) their current dynamic. Hoyo, for all their many faults, are detail orientated enough to follow up on such a line. Perhaps it will just be in Kaveh's voicelines/character stories, but I anticipate a future event or Kaveh hangout in relation to their bond. Nothing explicit, but more exploration. It's fairly clear Alhaitham and Kaveh are popular enough characters to warrant it.
All this to say: I have lots of thoughts. I have seen people call them toxic and (while idm the drama of that in fanon shipping) that isn't really the intended case in canon. Or, at the very least, the intention is not to to take their squabbling so seriously.

don't mind me i'm just casually thinking about soulmates-but-not-actually-soulmates au, where you both fall for each other after having not found your respective soulmates for a long period of time and decide that if fate won't do anything, then you will both simply defy fate and learn to love each other.
and you do !! with the more time you spend with one another, navigating that which makes up the entirety of the other, you both start to grow accustomed — attuned, even — to the each other's habits. and slowly, eventually, you begin to think that perhaps fate didn't give you your soulmate, for they are the one in front of you, holding you so close it wouldn't come as a surprise if you meld into one.
if so, then why does your soulmate, whom you believed was nothing but a hoax up until now, decide to show up now of all times? where have they been during the years you spent searching for them? why are they staring at you as if you hung the moon and stars for them as they repeat your name in a breathy, starstruck manner, holding your hands in a shaky grip with the trembles in their voice equally as unstable?
and why... why did fate have to be so cruel to you, for the moment your eyes dart away in avoidance of theirs you find the world goes silent when you see your lover, whom you believed was the one meant to defy destiny with you, standing off to the side and watching your interaction with an unreadable countenance.
oh, fate is a cruel thing.
