Dutch peculiarities: Alfred Jodocus Kwak
Another fun Dutch tv show for children (that I totally forgot about until @helshollowhalls mentioned it) is Alfred Jodocus Kwak.
The cartoon series was created by Herman van Veen, who is a talented and well-known artist in the Netherlands for his music, theatre plays and movies. Herman van Veen originally created the character of Alfred for a theatre play, with part of the proceeds being donated to Unicef. It also came out in the form of an lp, and later a CD.
Between 1989 until 1991, a 52-part cartoon series based on the character was broadcast in the Netherlands, Germany and Japan. Afterwards, the series became more and more popular, eventually being broadcasted in 48 different countries. In the meantime, 3 comic series based on the cartoon series were also released.
Some of the characters of the series;
Alfred Jodocus Kwak = main character, a duck (kwak is the sound a duck makes)
Henk de Mol = his father (mol = mole)
Dolf de Kraai = enemy of Alfred (kraai = crow)
Winnie Wana = Alfred's love interest
Some "fun" facts I found while researching;
Herman van Veen found the idea for this character after he hit a duck with his car, and saw 7 baby ducks with their mother the day after in his garden.
The character of Dolf is based off of Hitler. (Note: Herman van Veen grew during WWII)
The character of Winnie is named after the wife of Nelson Mandela (at that time)
Alfred's adoptive dad is Henk de Mol, because Alfred's parents and siblings died after being hit by a car.

What are some of your favorite Dutch cartoons or dubs?
There aren't many Dutch cartoons, since the animation industry isn't really big here.
But I've always had a soft spot for Alfred Jodocus Kwak, which was created by a Dutch person and animated in Japan. I watched it a lot as a kid.
When it comes to Dutch dubs I love too many to choose a fave, but I noticed that especially Disney has more hits than misses for me, they're really good at casting.
My current Dutch dub obession is definitely Miraculous The Movie, I just love it so much.

The entire Alfred J. Kwak show is on youtube
youtube
Spanish, German, Dutch and English dubs, tho English is missing episode 17, 21 and 33, which 21 is a very important episode does have an english subtitle version on youtube and the end of the episode dubbed in poor quality.
The French, Japanese, Greek, Italian, Hebrew, Arabic, Hungarian, Finnish, Serbian, Polish, Swedish, Icelandic, Chinese, Czech, Romanian, Korean and Norwegian dubs however, are still at large.
In spite of this very internationally significant Japanese animated cartoon based on a Dutch threatre show casting a wide net of dubs, the entire series has never been re-released officially.

Highly recommend, it'd be real cool if this got re-released on BVD in all, fucking 22 languages LOL
Also in Dutch Ollie is a trans man, and in Hebrew he's a woman all the way through so that's interesting to note.

Yippee!!! It'll be a bit of a varied list, and I have 0 musical brain, so I cannot tell you what genre or style something is. Hell, I can't even tell you if it's good. I'm also working of the assumption you have spotify (apologies if you dont) some will be Flemish and others Netherlands, so the accent difference can make it harder to understand. If you want the lyrics to some of em and can't find them online, I will genuinly and gladly transcribe and or translate them for you
De toverfluit - frank groothof A funny musical/opera that is a child friendly/fairytalefied version of Mozarts' 'the magic flute' (the lady who sings very high in all the adverts)
Herman Van Veen I already mentioned in the tags, he is great. My favourites are 'zingende doden' (a good song to take a moment and think. The rest of that album is also fun) Für Elise and Alfred Jodocus Kwak (there are multiple alfred jodocus kwak albums, but this one specifically was my childhood)
Het grote boeboeksbal they have some fun songs to make you happy. Boeboeks are creatures from the author 'marc de bel', eho are green with large ears and live in the forrest. Their biggest enemy is the cat (I forgor his name) there's also punk rats. but beware that not all the words are real! (Muggen/musquitos get called 'muzzies' and knuffelen/hugging becomes 'knuspelen')
Les miserables this is the Flemish version of les mis, I like it, but some words will be different, and ofcourse the accent (assuming you are learning Netherlands Dutch)
Als ze lacht - yevgueni
De drie biggetjes - K3 anything by K3 is great (mostly the older stuff, but that’s sentiment) but their story of the 3 piglets is a personal favourite
Clouseau very 'oh that’s a classic!' Flemish music. Their most known songs are 'Anne' 'vonken en vuur' 'zij is van mij' and 'daar gaat ze'
Gers Pardoel is a Netherlands rapper(?) Some of his hits are 'boem boem' 'ik neem je mee' and 'zo bijzonder'
Laïs again Flemish, they are one of our typical folkdance groups ('t smidje is the song to which all Belgians learn to dance) personal favourites are: 't smidje, bruidsnacht, de wereld vergaat and 't jeugdig groen. They do use more complex dutch/ harder words. (Also, Idk if you know this or not, but words like 's nachts and 't smidje in dutch are like that bc there was a word there once. 'T is a short form for 'het' and 's comes from 'des'. We no longer use 'des', but it stuck around in 's ochtends and 's avonds - but that’s a tangent)
De bom - doe maar
Denk maar niet aan morgen - Bazart
Stan van Samang Flemish again. His song 'een ster' makes me cry
Het is een nacht - Guus Meeuwis another classic, makes me feel things. It conveys a very specific feeling. That I am very fond of
Kijk niet weg - Emma Bale a song written for 'stip it' the national Belgium anti-bullying movement
Kleine Maud - Laura laura omloop got famous as a child bc of some singing show where she yodeled, but this song has a heavy impact, and also makes me cry. Trigger warnings for suicide.
Kvraagetaan - fixkes very Flemish, 'I ask it on' or 'I ask you if you want to be a thing with me' a childhood reminiscens song of simpler days
Honestly I could give you more, but for now I'll leave it at this. If you want more, hit me up, I love my language lots and will take any excuse to show people that yes, it can be very beautiful (a hill I will die on swingin')
Hey Kore, I love dutch music, so if you ever want some dutch music recs, I can send you some things
Yes please! I've been meaning to expand my music taste lately, and I also am vaguely curious to see how much I might be able to understand of the songs (almost nothing I guarantee but WE'RE GETTING CLOSER!!!!)

Alfred Jodocus Kwak
This little duck with a mole as his dad was one of the shows I used to watch all the time as a kid. It was one of the first things that thought me more about right and wrong, politics and more about the world of grown ups, even if I didn’t really understood it yet.
I’m also quite proud to be from the country he originated in.
