I absolutely gorged myself on Red, White and Royal Blue like a gluttonous Henry VIII. The movie? Charming, an utter delight, very very swoony. The book? See above comment re: gorging. It is such a generous book. It doesn't take more of you than it's willing to give. The characters are very well-rounded, the world that they inhabit (our world, but different) is gracious (some of the time) and just (some of the time). Alex and Henry's relationship feels so well earned. They really put the work in to get it to a place they wanted it to be. Families and found families (found families, my beloved) play such a huge part in the growth of these characters, and each member feels real. They aren't just there to prop up Alex and Henry's stories and romance.

Is it idealised? Yeah, kinda. But so what? We deserve books (especially books with a queer romance being front and centre) that are happy and idealised and will put a smile on our faces. We deserve, for a few days, to escape to a world which will reward us for being hopeful.

I will absolutely be rewatching the film and rereading the book. How could I not?

If he does come back (BIG if), then I'd like it to be around Christmas?? Let aaron have a bit of a meltdown, be a raging (and totally necessary and justified) dick to people, maybe put them in their place, and then, when we leave expect it, OMG ITS ROBERT!!

See, after tonight I'm even more convinced (aka delusional) that rob comes back, because, as we all know, hes the kne who can save aaron from himself. Its either that or something else happens.

Though I do love that he's treating chas and paddy the way they deserve.

I am LIVING for aaron being an asshole to chaddy! As for Rob... god I do hope so. I need them reunited and ruling the village together - and making chaddy's lives miserable and then rescuing Eve from them.

I think he'd be devastated. But I think Aaron will just throw it at him to get rid of him. And he's be like "Wait, what?? She's dead?? What happened?? HOW??" but Aaron is stuck in his Angry!Aaron Phase so he just tells him to fuck off. And then Rob goes to the graveyard to see her (I don't remember if she was buried or cremated?) and maybe find someone (Vinny? since he's Aaron's bff for now) to tell him what happened. And maybe he'll put down flowers or goes to the memorial (after dark so nobody sees him) and then leaves because his family isn't there anymore. (Because Vic is busy shagging Jacob)

until he comes back with Seb in the new year.

They're not married anymore so aaron won't be told when he gets let out, and rob won't have the porche anymore either. So he could just rock up and we wouldn't have a clue.

That would be The Dream.

Or since Aaron just moved into the second flat that we never see... they could be living there together! Rob's out, has been for a while, found Aaron, ripped off the mafia together for old times sake, when Cain and Caleb came to get Aaron, Rob followed them and reunited with Aaron somewhere between vinny letting him out of the barn and him rocking up at the mill today.

And Aaron will just secretly move him in until he's ready to deal with the world again.

It's that feeling of being a little kid on Christmas eve, knowing something big is going to happen? You know? At least for me. I'm unable to focus on literally anything else.

Like, we don't know he's coming back, whether they're just fucking with us, or what tf is going on. But they haven't mentioned him atleast a year.

Maybe aaron keeps getting worse, and, maybe nearer to christmas (Dec 4th??) Robert comes back, without telling anyone, thinking no-one would care either way. And maybe he'll stumble upon aaron looking all miserable, aaron could tell someone's behind him...

December 4th, Aaron goes for a drive and ends up in the layby where his car breaks down - and then HE breaks down and maybe drinks himself stupid - and then there's Rob. And he thinks it's just a drunken hallucination but he's really there.

Dec 4th comes and goes. Aaron is miserable, thinks he keeps seeing rob around the village. Thinks he's loosing his mind. He's not. Rob was let out early due to over crowing or some shit. He's back.

Rob sees how aaron is and just fucoing KNOWS that it has something to do with his so called family. He wants to gives them a peace of his mind, but first, he needs to see aaron.

but anyway, give me Robron reuniting in secret and plotting together to get rid of chaddy once and for all. and then maybe they'll take over the pub from Ryan and Charity (they're never allowed to be the boss of that place anyway) and their first big celebration will be their own third wedding and Seb coming home.
