The Murder of Alexis Sharkey

Alexis Leigh Sharkey, born Alexis Leigh Robinault, was a 26-year-old social media model and influencer living in Texas. She was a biology major who was interested in wellness and nutrition. Alexis married her husband, Tom Sharkey, in 2019.

In October 2020, Sharkey went on a trip with her friends who stated she was acting uneasy and that it was clear she was afraid of someone and worried about her safety. On 25th November, she last spoke to her mother. Alexis was last seen alive on the evening of 27th November and was reported missing the next day by her husband Tom who claimed she had left, Alexis stopped responding to messages and calls which her friends told police was highly unusual for her.

The next morning Alexis’ nude body was discovered in undergrowth at a roadside, it was believed the body had been there overnight. The cause of death was strangulation

Tom made a series of bizarre appearances claiming that Alexis was not as happy as she presented herself but that their marriage was happy, he ended a conversation with police saying ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m not a jerk, I’m just destroyed.’ About two weeks after the murder, Tom left Texas and failed to make funeral arrangements for Alexis. After many attempts by police to contact Tom he eventually agreed to submit a DNA test but then failed to do so. On 29th September, police got a warrant for Tom’s arrest naming him as the only person with the means, motive, and opportunity to kill Alexis. On 5th October, it was discovered Tom was staying in Florida, at 1am the next morning, after learning about his impending arrest, he ran upstairs and shot himself in the head.

Authorities stated they are not looking for anyone else in connection with Alexis’ death. Tom had been evasive and dishonest during the investigation and there was a history of domestic violence between him and Alexis.

The Killing of Alexis Sharkey - To her followers, Houston influencer Alexis Sharkey had it all. She was living her best life, and sharing it each day on TikTok, but her social media posts hid a dark secret.

I was a bit disappointed with this series. I thought it would focus and show social media played a part in the murders and while it partially did that's not really the reason why they were murdered.

I agree that the mother and daughter wouldn't have access to their accomplices if they weren't social media stars. I think the second one would have happened without social media, same for the third.

I do remember the first one being in the news.

Good for a watch if you have time but not the most in-depth documentries

Alexis Sharkey

It's been just a little over three months since the nude body of Instagram and social media influencer Alexis Sharkey, 26, was found nude alongside a road in Houston, TX. Close to Interstate 10, about 17 miles west of Downtown Houston and just a few miles from her apartment. She moved to Texas last January of 2020 very soon after getting married to Tom Sharkley. They were only married for 11 months before her death, tying the knot December of 2019.

As of January 2020, The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences have officially declared Alexis's death a homicide with the cause of death being strangulation. The mysteries that surround her death have yet to be answered. She wasn't officially reported missing to the police by her husband, Tom, nor any other friends or family members but there was calls made to inquire about her missing.

There hasn't been many more news updates on Alexis's case since January that I can find. The case is still open and being investigated. A fewt true crime YouTubers are still talking about the case and keeping her story out there. Check out YouTuber's Stephanie Harlowe and Kendall Rae videos. Stephanie's video was release on December 15, 2020 about two weeks after her body was recovered and Kendall's video is more recent only being released a few days ago.
