Alright so there is a bad image being formed in my mind from Alexis Dawson saying how Banana Fish amplifies fear and hatred specifically and how we never get an actual reason for Griffin opening fire on his squad mates...

Most Anticipated LGBTQ+ Adult Fiction: July-December 2024
Peregrine Seas by R.C. Ballad (July 1st) Prince Peregrine couldn’t be happier to be kidnapped by pirates. Peregrine wasn’t cut out for the restrictive life of a nobleman – he’s hungry for adventure, prone to duelling, and his family refuse to believe he’s any kind of man at all. “Here are the top 30 TikTok book recommendations: 2023 edition. BookTok is known for its varied and vast book recommendations in any conceivable genre from a range of voices. Everyone from casual readers to professional reviewers to authors has the ability to promote books they love on BookTok.
Essentially, a lot of people talk about a lot of books with different levels of success. When discussing BookTok, it is important to acknowledge the bias toward white, cis, straight creators promoting white, cis, straight books. However, if you seek them out, you can find a vast resource of diverse Booktokers promoting equally diverse books. This is also the added lens the algorithm adds to the user experience. TikTok’s algorithm learns from your viewing history in the app, which also applies to BookTok.
The following list comes from compiling various BookTok comment sections on videos about TikTok book recommendations in 2023. Naturally, the list will have the natural bias of my personal algorithm. Nonetheless, backlist books and genre books remain popular in 2023 on BookTok. Similar to the top 25 TikTok book recommendations from 2022, YA, romance, and fantasy books remain popular. Additionally this year, the Trans Rights Readathon increased the recommendation of trans books on BookTok.“

As much as she didn’t understand how it felt for him, she couldn't help but wonder whether the moon called to him like death did to her. All consuming, unforgiving and all at once. A feeling that she wouldn’t wish upon anybody.
“There he is” Billie teased as she witnessed the threat of a smile before it blossomed into a full on grin. Standing opposite him now, she leaned herself against the wooden railing of the steps as her expression mirrored his own “-- wherever this is going, I need to remember that I asked for this” she mused playfully.

The moon felt as though it had liquified and entered his bloodstream, everything was louder, more demanding. He had never felt more out of control. All his life, he thought that maybe the trigger would be a release, but it wasn't. Oliver was right, everything was heightened. Her footsteps drew his attention, and the world went still again. If only for a moment, these felt quiet.
"'Fraid not," he murmured, even as a smile threatened to ruin his bad mood streak. Making a face like he was thinking it over, the grin finally won. "You know what they say about werewolves, don't you?"

Panel 1: For the second year in a row, Gender Queer was the most challenged book in the US, reported the American Library Association.
Panel 2: It’s been a weird two years. Number of unique titles challenged in the US by year. 2000: 378 titles. 2005: 259 titles. 2010: 262 titles. 2015: 190 titles. 2020: 223 titles. 2021: 1858 titles. 2022: 2571 titles.
Panel 3: It’s been a hard two years. The ACLU is tracking 469 anti-LGBTQ bills in the US.
Panel 4: Usually I prefer to wait until something is over before I write about it, so I have time to reflect. But this experience has not ended.
Panel 5: It has only gotten louder. (A series of screen shoots of news headlines about Gender Queer, book challenges and an obscenity lawsuit against the book being dismissed in the state of Virginia).
Panel 6: I’m constantly wondering, “When should I speak and when should I let the book speak for itself?”
Panel 7: I remember when I realized that the previous most challenged book spent five years in the top five.
2020- Melissa by Alex Gino at #1 2019- Melissa by Alex Gino at #1 2018- Melissa by Alex Gino at #1 2017- Melissa by Alex Gino at #5 2016- Melissa by Alex Gino at #3
Panel 8: Oh, I think I can take my time figuring out how to respond. I think I’m in this for the long haul...
