Tennant and Pike play parents of three young children, they are pending a divorce, but with Doug’s (Tennant) father, Gordie (Connolly), dying of cancer, the family head to Scotland for what will surely be his last birthday party. Hoping to put on a united front so as to not upset Gordie any further, nobody could envisage what was to happen next… It’s a film that some no doubt find easy to kick, such is the uncomplicated structure used, and the formula of messaging that drives it forward. Yet sometimes uncomplicated is all you need, and in this day and age of mega-buck blockbusters and soulless frat type comedies grasping at sex for laughs, this is a film of refreshing qualities. It’s superbly performed by what is a top notch group of adult British actors, who in turn are supplemented by three child actors so natural and engaging it makes you wonder if acting school is really needed? It’s obviously a piece that will resonate more with those who have been touched/stung by the thematics at work, while the comedy ticking away – with some truly great lines uttered – could seem a bit off kilter for the unprepared, but hopefully more will watch it, laugh and cry and ultimately realise that life really is too short for, well, you get the picture I’m sure. 8/10

BOBBY TRIVIGNO WINS HARTFORD WOLF PACK AHL MAN OF THE YEAR AWARD

By: Alex Morgan, Hartford Wolf Pack HARTFORD, CT – The American Hockey League announced today the individual team winners of the IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year awards. These winners were selected by their respective clubs for their outstanding contributions to their local community and charitable organizations during the 2022-23 season. Wolf Pack Forward Bobby Trivigno has been selected as Hartford's IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year award winner. Trivigno participated in countless community events during the 2022-23 season, becoming a staple in Hartford. Trivigno attended multiple schools during the season, doing Q&A sessions with students. He also visited two schools during 'Read Across America Week,' where he took the time to read to students and preach the importance of school. The native of Setauket, New York, also attended youth hockey practices, where he aided coaches in drills for multiple Hartford area programs. From the list of 32 finalists, representatives from IOA/American Specialty and the AHL will choose the 2022-23 Yanick Dupré Memorial Award winner. The AHL's annual Man of the Year award is named after the late Yanick Dupré, who died in 1997 at the age of 24 following a 16-month battle with leukemia. Dupré, an AHL All-Star in 1995, played four seasons with the Hershey Bears and also skated in 35 National Hockey League games with the Philadelphia Flyers. The Wolf Pack return to the XL Center for Game Three of their Atlantic Division Semifinals series on Wednesday, May 3rd. I guess it's fair to say, that Spitzer has a very flawed character. He made it easy for the enemies that he made to bring him down. But his early success stopping some of Wall Street's most shady behaviour should not be forgotten.

That the GOP was using a self-proclaimed trickster and swinger to bring down a governor on "moral grounds" seems emblematic of the Republican party. I wonder if a single sentence that Roger Stone spoke into the camera had even a remote connection with the truth.

Main story - novel "Dead Men Talk Way Too Much"

Camille "Desden" Dessaigne

Camille is a unisex name in French - he's a man. He's the main character of this story. Desden wants a simple life, loves to cook, his dog, his friends and family. He's a soft, funny guy, but can be very closed off and sarcastic, cynical even, if you get him the wrong way.

31 yo, 1,98m (6'5), brown short hair, blue eyes.

Distinctive signs : a big lock of white hair at the back of the head (left side), bumpy nose, freckles.

Disabilities : Desden is almost totally blind due to a head trauma. He can only see on the extreme right side of his field of vision, which means he mostly perceives light and shadows. He uses his guide dog Kalinka and a cane to get around.

Abilities : hereditary ability to sense the presence of ghosts, attract them - and more. He's also a very good cook.

10 Favorite Female Characters

I was tagged by @ftzsimmons (thank you!!! I really liked doing this because it was a challenge)

Rules: Write your ten favourite female characters from ten different fandoms and tag ten different people. (That tagging thing is always optional)

So here we go in no particular order and a very bad reasoning:

1. Lizzie McGuire (Disney): Lizzie is and always will be one of my favorite female characters because she probably was the first female character I cared about (also I never related to an animated character more than animated Lizzie). The Lizzie McGuire Movie is the only movie I know very word to, lol. (Fun Fact: My dad was so annoyed at my obsession with The Lizzie McGuire Movie that I wanted to throw out the DVD. Glad he wasn’t that mean)

2. Alex Dupré (One Tree Hill): I was torn between choosing Haley James, Brooke Davis or Alex Dupré but decided to go for Alex because her role made the last seasons of OTH so much more entertaining but I’m also very much adoring Brooke Davis and Haley James so this is really hard.

3. Michelle Jones (Spiderman/Marvel): Do I have to explain?? I just love her, love Zendaya, that’s the deal here.

4. Spencer Hastings (Pretty Little Liars): “Why enjoy today when you could be worrying about tomorrow” is literally my life motto and it was delivered by the one and only Spencer Hastings. 

5. Cheryl Blossom (Riverdale): Honestly at this point the only character I care about.

6. April Carver (Chasing Life): Let me tell you Chasing Life was cancelled way to early and I am still bitter about it. Italia Ricci was amazing as April and as much as I often got annoyed at April’s behavior her character and this show really helped me deal with cancer in my family.

7. Leslie Knope (Parks and Recreation): Everyone loves Leslie.

8. Mia Thermopolis (Princess Diaries): My childhood and a person I wanted to be so bad for so many years (a secret princess, still hoping I am lmao)

9. Fallon Carrington (Dynasty): I am in love and always having a good time watching my girl Fallon Carrington kick some ass.

Touch: The Vista Sans Wood Type Project Book / Available at www.draw-down.com / This hand-bound book—with original letterpress wrap-around cover—is about the Vista Sans Wood Type Project, a collaborative project involving twenty-one innovative letterpress artists, designers and studios from all over the world. The project, launched by designers Tricia Treacy and Ashley John Pigford, sent CNC routed letterforms in two different sizes (spelling the word touch in the Xavier Dupré’s Vista Sans typeface) and a challenge to each invited participant: create a new work. Each artist was asked to make an edition of prints for a swap with other artists in the project, with the idea that every participant would receive a set of all created works. Touch: The Vista Sans Wood Type Project Book includes an essay about the project, process photos, and high quality reproductions of each of the twenty-one artists/studios who contributed their work. With an illustrated preface, and essays by Stephen Heller, John D. Berry, Catherine Dixon and Amze Emmons.
