It's been like 2 weeks? But I think the hiccup we had with the local Post Office kind of benefitted my collection here. That and a sale at Exalted Funeral...

Here's what's arrived in the last little bit:

The Slow Knife: I like Mousehole Press in general, but the pitch for this one in particular sticks out to me. You're a cabal of evil people who have deeply wronged someone, and they're coming for revenge. One by one, they kill each of you until their wrath is sated. I'm honestly always a little iffy on playing "Evil" characters, but this seems like a really neat way to tackle it.

Koriko: Also from Mousehole, this is meant to be a solo game in the vein of Kiki's Delivery Service and other quiet coming-of-age kinds of stories. It's also an absolutely beautiful book (and it came with the most adorable fat wizard cat patch...)

Star Crossed & Love Letters: I've heard stories and APs of Star Crossed, but never played it. Then there was an expansion coming, and it seemed like the right time to get myself a copy. The box is huge, I assume so I can store a Falling Tower game inside? I also often think about the creator, Alex Roberts, saying that the awards for this game have been nice, but that a couple who broke a chair after playing it is the real reward...

I Have the High Ground: I initially got this game from its crowdfund run after listening to the Party of One episode, but I spaced when it shipped and had it sent to my old Boston apartment. I never went back for it, but it was offered as a bonus on the Star Crossed expansion, so I decided it was time. (Also, there's a great Party of One episode that's a Star Crossed X IHTHG crossover, which is extremely worth checking out)

The Wildsea & The Wildsea - Storm and Root: I'd missed the original game, but the expansion caught my eye. The art and the vibe are weird and fun, but it's loosely a FitD engine under there. I skimmed through the Quickstart, and it felt really gripping. Weird guys sailing weird boats on the trees of a weird Earth future. The forest as a sea metaphor? I'm intrigued.

Nest: Spencer Campbell makes bangers. This is a long-time opinion of this blog, so Nest was a quick pick-up. It's set in his Destiny-like (I think?) Nova-verse, but it follows the bad guys. It's got Heist-y vibes, and I really like the idea of fleshing out the "Evil" team. It's too easy to assume the bad guys aren't people, and humanizing them does a lot.

Dusk, Vol1: Spencer Campbell makes Bange--oh, right. Already established. But still! Also a Nova-verse book, and one that I sorta missed. If I've read the pitch, it's about community within the Nova universe, and I like that that's a focus. People coming together to build communities is a theme I really enjoy, and when the sun explodes (yeah, that's what the Nova in Nova-verse means), I think we'll need people more than ever.

Eco Mofos: I really loved the universe created in Lost Eons, and this promised to be a loose prequel. It's a "weird-hope" game, which is loosely a description of why I love post-apocalyptic fiction. The idea that even in the worst possible outcome for the world (y'know, it ending), people come together to protect and help each other. That's what makes apocalyptica appealing.

Monster of the Week - Codex of Worlds Apocrypha: MotW is a well-established and really nicely designed game. I think I've only ever played it, but I honestly feel comfortable running it, because I've listened to so many APs and read so many of the materials. Apocrypha was the stretch goal collection for the Codex of Worlds expansion, which itself put a little of the best bits from FitD into the PbtA classic.

FIST: I backed the Kickstarter edition, but this was in Exalted Funeral's damaged section (I think for a slight creas on the cover?), so I wanted to grab it and see what the hype was about. Paranormal Mercenary action, is the game. I've heard nothing but good things, so it was an easy investment for me.

Haunted Almanac: Nate Treme is a name I've heard around the scene for a while, but hadn't really checked out until recently. In part because of the RTFM podcast episode about Tunnel Goons, which is included in this book. I don't want to admit that I'll just get anything that Max and Aaron tell me to get, but like... this book is great.

The Last Caravan: Backed this at the height of my FitD interest, and I'm really curious to see what's inside. Survivors of an alien attack in the titular caravan, traveling to survive and maybe fight back a little? Yeah. That sounds dope.

All Growed Up: Another EF impulse purchase, but partly because Reilly Qyote is a designer I've had really lovely interactions with and respect a lot. I hacked their game Cast Away into a Subnautica-themed survival crafting RPG. Kids playing as grown-ups seemed cute, so I wanted to check it out.

Heroes of Cerulea: I stumbled on this by accident back when I had some extra cash to spend, and it was 100% up my alley. The original Legend of Zelda is such a formative game for me that the nostalgia alone made me pick it up. It uses D4 and the pixel art throughout is impeccable. It feels a lot like skimming the manual of the original NES and SNES titles.

Details of Our Escape: Possible Worlds Games is one of those design outfits that's gotten the benefit of the doubt from me, so I had to pick this one up. Weird, artistic, and a neat backstory: It started asart pieces swapped by the artists, and later attached to a game by Tyler Crumrine. I think it's got heist energy, but I'm not sure so I'm curious to find out!

GoGoGolf!: An impulse add-on for the Details of Our Escape campaign, which looks like it's got that weird energy of some recent multiplayer golf games. I'm sold, and I'm checking it out.

Secutors of the Soundstage Sphere (for Troika!): This was a freebie for the recent EF sale, so I grabbed it. It's not really in my usual interests, but Free.99 is a great price!

Two Summers & Other Summers: I like games about people growing up, I'm realizing about myself. On a personal level, the idea that people can become different people, but remain the same intrigues me. Two Summers is about that, and I think Other Summers makes it weirder. So, excited to dive in.

OK EXTREMELY NICHE CROSSOVER but hear me out !! Stardew Valley Characters x TMA?

(oh yea spoilers for some Magnus Archives concepts/lore? but nothing plot-related)

the 12 Stardew Valley dateable characters as TMA Avatars:

Abigail: Could see either the Vast or the Stranger. The Vast because she adores exploring, asks existential questions, gets lost in things. The Stranger because of her character arc as an odd one out, someone who just doesn’t fit in with the rest of the town, unnatural, an outsider. Also because of her potential connection to the Wizard.

Alex: Likely the Flesh, as a sort of Jared Hopworth situation. He’s always talking about his bodybuilding, it’s pretty Flesh-aligned. I could also see him as the Hunt? His obsession with going pro, reaching his goal, something that never really happens but he’s always chasing. Maybe he begins to hear the blood?

Elliott: The Lonely. Relatively new to town, all isolated on that beach, I bet it gets quite foggy. Or potentially the Eye? I could see his fervor for writing as a thirst for knowledge, in a way?

Emily: The Spiral. Strange, bizarre, cryptic, a manic pixie dream girl (and i mean this with love), she’s gotta be the Spiral. I could also see the stranger, but she has a certain level of approachability that’s more Spiral to me.

Haley: This is tough for me. Maybe the Flesh, as someone concerned with their appearance, but that feels kinda surface-level to me. This is a stretch, but what about a Dark alignment? The way she sort of refuses to intake information sometimes (ignoring you), bores easily, she could be compensating for an insecurity by presenting a certain way? In the dark, she wouldn’t have to worry about any of it. Besides, she does have that Dark Room… (i admit this one doesn’t really fit, does anyone have a better idea? spider maybe? or even corruption?)

Harvey: The whole weight of the town’s expectation’s for their only doctor, his stagnant dreams of piloting, Harvey’s got to be affiliated with the Buried. Possiblyyy the Flesh, simply due to his profession, but the Buried makes far more sense for his character to me.

Leah: Hear me out on this one—the Extinction. She’s got a couple dialogue lines focusing on environmental destruction and humanity as a harmful species, she’s newly moved out of the city and into nature, radically replacing her environment. She’s so isolated in the forest, it might sometimes feel like she’s the only one left. If not, then the Vast, most likely. Or maybe Stranger or Lonely? She’s got options.

Maru: If anyone in this group is Eye-affiliated, it’s got to be Maru. She has this thirst for knowledge, always building, always looking up into the unknown of the cosmos.

Penny: She’s got to be the Lonely to me. How many times has she sat under that tree, picking at the grass and looking out into the river? She’s so isolated, despite being around so many people. If not the Lonely, then certainly the Corruption, with its themes of finally finding endless love and community, a hive who truly understands.

Sam: This is another tricky one to me, but probably the Vast? He’s so easy-going and carefree, for the most part, it fits in quite well with the Vast mentality of ultimate insignificance and the freedom that comes with it.

Sebastian: Although the Lonely is probably the easy answer, I could also see him as the Buried, honestly? Burdened by the weight of all the expectations pressing down on him, by his stagnation in a town he wants nothing to do with, by his lack of freedom and desire for escape. He has friends, close friends! It seems to be more of his general circumstances that haunt him, rather than isolation, necessarily.

Shane: While i know the Web is primarily associated with addiction, I don’t really feel that Shane fits with the Web in any other way? I honestly see him more as affiliated with the Desolation, given his often self-destructive tendencies, and the way he lashes out at others. Shane seems to resort to alcohol as a harmful coping mechanism. Of course, I could also see him as the End, given some of his cut scenes, but the qualities of the End don’t seem to match him as well as the Desolation.

Those are my takes!! Sorry I couldn’t narrow it down more, but there’re so many potentials, it’s hard to choose a single option for each person! These are superrrr subjective and up to interpretation, so I welcome any additional speculations or suggestions !! I kinda wanna know how other people would categorize these guys tbh? anyways yeah sorry about the long post, my brain is rotten. perchance.

I’m honestly writing little bits for almost all of my WIPs when I find the time to. My inspiration is all over the place these days! I’m hoping that I’ll be able to post something this year!! I 10000% failed my writing goals for this year 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m gonna go off the “rules” and share two because I wrote more of the Fluke AU and then I randomly wrote for my deserted island au!

FLUKE AU

Alex can’t help but to lean against the door frame when he hears Henry talking to Lee from the other room. There’s something so endearing to him whenever Henry speaks in the moments he doesn’t think anyone can hear him.

“I know you don’t like me much, especially when I’m in Alex’s space. He’s my best friend and that’ll never change because Alex would never let me leave. He’s been through a lot. You see, he’s lost his soulmate,” Henry pauses, and Alex feels his heart constrict at the mention because Henry hasn’t spoken about Liam since the first couple of weeks after his funeral, “yeah, and I’m sure we can be on the same page that we don’t want him losing anyone else he cares about.”

Alex looks down at his feet and struggles with his breath because he knows losing Henry would be unbearable, and he never wants to face a day where Henry isn’t here.

DESERTED ISLAND AU

“Where are you going?” Henry asks as Alex starts to walk towards the water.

Alex turns on his heels and keeps walking backwards. “Where does it look like? I’m going for a swim. You’re free to join me, but I suggest you stay closer to the shore this time. I’m not in the mood to have to save your ass again.”

Kissing Booth

How? How did this happen? I know that National City has a yearly fundraiser in the fall season, and most businesses have a booth at the event, but how did Supergirl get roped into a kissing booth? Grumbling, I finished the rest of my ribbon fries. “I knew you’d hate this,” Sam murmured. “I bet they’re making a killing.” Glaring towards the brunette, she grinned. “I’m joking!” She paused. “Partly.”

During the lunch lull, I made my way towards the booth. Noticing me, Kara smiled. “Hey, guys!”

“How’s it going?” Sam waved to Alex. “If you want to get food, we can hold down the fort.”

“Oh, thank God! I’m starving!” Dashing towards the food area, Alex disappeared into the crowd.

“Aww. I was going to ask her to bring me something,” Kara pouted. Turning her attention back to us, she smiled. “Things are good. Are you enjoying the seasonal fundraiser?”

“Yes. I got a caramel apple, some ribbon fries, and a few homemade fall decorations for the office.” That jar is pretty full. I guess Alex needs to empty it again.

“You overpaid for everything, didn’t you?” The Super grinned up at me.

“Everyone is donating their profits. I wanted to help them reach their goal.” Folding my arms, I smirked. “Of course I did.”

“You’re such a good person,” Kara beamed.

“Not that good…” Sam muttered with her back towards us.

Frowning, Kara chose to ignore Sam’s comment. “I can’t wait for this to be over,” she shrugged. “I want food and to stop kissing random people.”

“Soon, hopefully.” I offered a warm smile.

Returning, Alex took her seat beside Kara. “I brought you some fries but no vinegar for you.”

“Aww,” Kara pouted. Before too long, nearly half of the plate was empty.

More people started to wander around us. “Guess it’s time to make another round.”

“Bye, guys.” Alex and Kara spoke in unison.

Leaning against a tree, I watched as an ever growing line continued in front of Kara’s booth. “Explain to me again how you ended up watching your crush, well, your crush’s alter ego, participating at a kissing booth.”

Running a hand through my hair, I sighed. “I honestly don’t understand how it happened. All I know is, I can’t wait for this fundraising event to be over.”

“Maybe I can do my part and-,” Sam laughed at my death stare. “Oh, stop.” She rolled her eyes. “There’s the choice to kiss her cheek or have her kiss theirs. It’s not like it’s a lip lock.”

“Thank God!” I grinned at the brunette. “You’d drop a couple hundred dollars if it was Alex who did the kissing.”

“Now you’re just being mean.” Sam stuck her tongue out like a child.

“Screw this.” Writing a check, I stormed towards the booth, shoved the check into the jar, cupped the back of Kara’s head, and planted a hard kiss on the woman’s lips. When she kissed back, it was hard to remember we were in public. Leaning back, I smirked as Kara giggled and slid to the ground. “The check is for three times what your booth goal was. Now, can you please, stop kissing random people.”

“I think you broke Supergirl,” Alex snorted.

Leaning over the table, I smirked down at the blonde. “Come by the penthouse after rounds. Two thirds of the check was for charity. I plan to get my money’s worth for the last third.”

“Okay…” Kara breathed. With that, I walked away triumphantly.

The Warp Effect Ep 12 (Finale) Stray Thoughts

The week of finales continues! I was forever changed by My School President. Will this show change me as well?

Last time, things finally came to a head at Jedi and Rose's wedding, which used prom as its theme. Jedi and Rose continued to make me believe in long term romance. See-ew committed the cardinal sin of proposing at someone's wedding. Mollie and Nim managed to reconcile a bit. Joe and Army danced in public, and are building their romance. Alex learned that the sex ed teacher was his bio dad and refused to forgive him for abandoning his mom. Alex tried to reconcile with Jean, but Jean refused. Kat is hanging out with Tony now. Alex learned that the camera came from his bio dad.

As always, so much happens on this show.

I do enjoy the sci-fi conceits of someone experiencing this huge period of time, and then returning to an earlier moment. Everyone else being so confused amuses me.

I also like Alex immediately going to reassure his little brother.

Clize and Sing are so funny together. I hope we see them paired again.

Alex getting ahead of the Mollie issue by kissing her himself is unexpected, but makes sense to keep it from becoming a rift between Nim and Mollie.

Oh, Alex, please don't out Army and Joe.

Yep, they're still closeted jocks, so yeah that's definitely the same outcome.

Jojo definitely likes Kill Bill, Vol. 2.

I love Jedi and Rose so much. Mark and Best look so comfortable together.

This friend group is honestly impressive if they all not only stayed in their pairs, they also remained friends for a decade.

Kinda hope Alex gets the memories of the better ten years and doesn't have to piece those together too.

Final Verdict: 10, Highly Recommended. This show was an absolute delight from start to finish. I cannot overstate how impressive it is that this show remained legible despite the sheer volume of threads it was managing. This show managed to be funny and sexy, while still continuing the mission to make people more comfortable with their bodies and aware of their own sexual health. It also managed to accomplish those educational goals without feeling like an after school special. It's also the queerest show we've gotten to enjoy in quite some time. I'd say in some ways it cared more about queer issues than some of the BLs we've watched. Please watch and enjoy this.

Top 5 favorite books of 2023 and 5 least favorite books, go!

Hoo boy! I'm still not at my reading goal today, the 28th! Let's go! This was a difficult selection, because I had a pretty interesting year.

Top 5

Mélusine by Sarah Monette. This author is truly the gift that keeps on giving. The Goblin Emperor is everything to me, and veering into her fucked up branch of fantasy works was the best decision I could have made. Those characters. That atmosphere. Violently engrossing. Please climb down into this Doctrine of Labyrinths hole with me.

Barrayar by Lois McMaster Bujold. This series is another one that has an iron grip on me. The main couple has more adult chemistry than I've ever seen in my life. And the author presented the worst, most violent man in the world and made me love him so intensely that I start shaking like a chihuahua if I think too hard about him.

The Wounds of Wisdom by Alex Roma. A golden find. I am gnawing at the bars of my cage for the sequels. Isolationist kingdoms? Fae? Dragons? Possibly time or reincarnation shenanigans?? Prince/knight dynamics.... It's got everything I've ever asked for, right there. I kiss the main trio on their foreheads. Love them. Can't wait to watch them suffer more.

A Lair of Bones by Helen Scheuerer. This is what YA magical contest books should strive to be. Because my girl Roh has a brain and she is not pure of heart. Nor should she be! There are real stakes here and no time to play around. The world and lore were especially fun with this one; Scheuerer has a gift for the release and timing of information.

Feathers So Vicious by Liv Zander. Everyone thank my romance/erotica reading friend for putting this on my radar. Many a novel has promised truly dark love interests; few have delivered. This was one of those few, the proud, the unhinged. I didn't know we were allowed to write this anymore, but I'm so glad Zander did.

Hunger Pangs by Joy Demorra. The ending of this book was so rushed that I honestly forgot I finished the whole thing. I assumed I had DNF'd it. But no, I read it all, including the ELEVEN unnecessary pages of legal waiver that turned me into a nun just prior to the sex scene.

Bound to the Fae King by Megan Van Dyke. What a disappointment this was! I adored the first book so much. I thought the author understood me and my desires. But then she produced a sequel that was exactly the same as the other bad boy fae romance books. Shallow smut with no danger or tension.

The Man Who Was Thursday by GK Chesterton. Me and GK are normally so tight. He was a man of great wit and wisdom. Funniest Catholic in known history. So what the hell was this...?

A Soul to Keep by Opal Reyne. What a slog. It was supposed to be Ancient Magus Bride erotica and ended up more like a woman sleeping with her puppy. Not what I'm here for! Boo! Where are the monsters!

I tell you, the last slot is about to be Israel by Noa Tishby.

"...you're actually serious about returning to vancouver?" rob questioned as we sat together at a small diner in downtown los angeles 

"yeah...i mean, it wasn't too hard of a decision to make. besides, i can tell that this is taking its toll on alex and singer emailed me the other day saying he wants me to come back for season thirteen of supernatural. and, i couldn't say no so..." i shrugged, trailing off as i watched rob's facial expressions 

"...poor alex but, that's amazing that singer's letting you come back!" rob pouted but was joyus that i could come back as i nodded my head, playing with the straw from my apple juice  

"he is struggling and, i know. i'm forever thankful that singer has allowed me to come back. i honestly feel terrible about doing this job here as to be honest, i really wasn't that esctatic about it like i thought i would've been," i shrugged, shivering at how i was treated at the audition as rob smiled sadly, knowing exactly what i was talking about 

"i honestly don't blame you either, val. they treated you like absolute shit and had no right to. just because you're on a different network, kiss my arse!" rob announced a little too loudly as i chuckled, pulling us both down to the table so we wouldn't get looked at weirdly as we giggled 

"rob....that was so loud!" i giggled as he too laughed, his eyes crinkling as we finally composed ourselves 

we spent another hour or so at the downtown los angeles diner, thankfully no paparazzi were present and we left. paying for our food and drinks, of course, when we went back to rob's house and decided it was best for us to start packing considering we were most certainly catching the earliest flight back to vancouver!

i was tagged by @inlocusmads at the begining of the month and then. promptly forgot about it.

anyway i tried to do a mix of live action and animated shows even though i watch more animated shows bc i didn't want to look too much like a child

Santa Clarita Diet - this show is for the bisexuals fr. Shelia and Joel are total couple goals. Netflix is cowards for canceling it

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - there's an episode where Quark, Rom, and Nog accidentally get sent back in time and become the Roswell Aliens and Quark tries to convince the humans to do even more capitalism than they were already doing, and its called Little Green Men. Show of all time.

Rise of the TMNT - the best TMNT show (imo) soley for the fact the turtles actually have different designs for once. also its insanely beautifully animated and really funny. also fun fact but Mikey's voice in this (done by Brandon Mychal Smith) is my voice claim for Devi.

The Muppets (2015) - my favorite show about making a show, and hands down the best Muppets show to come out of the last decade. which is like an insanely low bar bc they've been doing a steady nosedive since Disney bought them. BUT. honestly this is how a modern Muppets show should be done. compared to other modren Muppets shows, theres so much energy. i wish Up Late With Miss Piggy was a real show

Gravity Falls - i love when a show has exactly enough episodes to tell the story it wants to tell and doesn't get cut short or run on for too long. also Alex Hirsch faking screenshots of Fiddleford writing the journals was genious and every showrunner should do stuff like that instead of changing the plot bc the fans found out what was going on a season early. theres this shit called forshadowing, and it's good if your audience can pick up on it

Community - one of my binge shows for when i don't feel like doing something else or watching something new. i usually stick to the first 3 seasons though. Shirley is the best character and i wish the writers knew what to do with her more often. there was so much going for her and the writers just dropped the ball so hard

Bojack Horseman - my other binge show and my second favorite show about making a show (and movies). it's not often that a character's arc ends with them gaining weight, as a sign of healing or otherwise, so Diane holds a really special place in my heart, especially bc there isnt a single joke about Diane's weight gain at her expence. also Todd is best boy.

Breaking Bad - Jesse Pinkman my beloved

Invader Zim - i was actually born the same year this. when i was old enough to actually watch the reruns, i was terrified of it. now its my favorite show. i have a gir hoodie :3

I don’t understand why teams beat up Alex so much. I’d be terrified of her hitting me back.

honestly, I think it's because they see her as the biggest scoring threat. or at least as the player that is being looked at to score.

it happened in the 2019 world cup after she scored 5 goals vs thailand in the opening match and she wasn't able to score again until the semifinal vs england but even then she was getting pretty beat up.

Alex seems to be taking it in stride tho and she was able to get some assists to mal these past couple of games AND still being able to score a killer goal. the uswnt is capitalizing on the fact that alex pulls 2 or 3 players to her and it gives other players, like mal, a better chance of scoring.

Born out in Banbury in Oxfordshire, Xander’s upbringing was pretty uneventful and quiet. He enjoyed his childhood and had what most would consider an easy time of it.

At ten, however, he was diagnosed with ADHD.

It didn’t change much, but it made him suddenly realise that he was classed as different. His parents continued to tell him that he wasn’t, yet Xander found himself super aware of it.

Once things were a little more under control in his tween years, he developed a passion for drawing, distracting himself from the anxiety in the back of his mind by creating a gaggle of crazy characters —- characters that are still with him to this day.

Most of his school years were spent this way, along with hanging around by the local canal, finding himself fascinated by the boats and the lives of those who lived there. He made it a goal to eventually do the same, even though he knew it was slightly ridiculous. 

His next port of call was King’s College London to undertake Film Studies. That was where his obsession with movies really started.

The move was something he found difficult and shortly after starting university he ended up attending CBT sessions and having several visits with a doctor. The suddenly change had caused his ADHD to spiral and the anxiety he’d been attempting to ignore for years was suddenly at the forefront. It didn’t matter that he was in one of the top universities in the country, those feelings of complete hopelessness could take over entirely.

During that period of his life, he struggled to make friends, to find any true connections with anybody.

It wasn’t until he was done with university and trying to find his way in the world again that things changed... quite dramatically, too.

He found a place with a couple of friends and picked up a job at Forbidden Planet on Shaftsbury Avenue ( somewhere he’s been ever since ). Despite being in the city for years, it wasn’t until then he truly felt at home. Finding out who he really was took time.

Xander would walk the tourist spots at night, take in the lights, savour everything that theatreland had to offer.

Several years later he met Zibby and there was an instant connection; he’d never felt so comfortable around someone other than his parents.

It wasn’t surprising that eventually they ended up getting married. He’d honestly never though that would happen for him, but to finally meet the one person who truly understood him changed absolutely everything.

HEADCANONS.

Xander has dreams of becoming a comic book artist. He just needs to pluck up the courage to actually send his work out somewhere first. It doesn’t stop him from filling sketch book after sketch book with ideas though.

He’s a massive fan of classic movies and has an entire wall full of DVD's that he pretty much will watch every night. 

Following a weird childhood dream, he now owns a canal boat that’s moored up in Camden. It’s not quite living on a boat, but it’s a step in the right direction.

He’s pretty much t-total these days, finds it makes his symptoms worse, so it’s easier to simply avoid it. Special occasions are always fair game though.

Every now and again he’s been known to stream the Sims 4 on twitch.

... I wonder what Val and Mark do after the end of Break of Dawn, honestly. Like, besides the little funny doodles I've been putting out.

When I wrote the ending, I wrote Val leaving. So all these post-BoD doodles are like, if he stayed. Which is a very real possibility ! He might not want to lose all of his friends by just fucking disappearing !

But then, like. Eventually they have to stop crashing at Alex's place. Ava and Melyane have left, because Ava is physically unable to stay in the same place for too long now that she has her memories and the Longing for Adventure back, and Melyane has mostly lived in the Undercity during her life - of COURSE she wants to explore with her girlfriend.

Ether probably stays with the Witchmann/Derlyn/de Vano/whatever the hell Alex's last name is for a long time, considering I might make her and Sacha an item. I do think that, when it's safe, she'll present him and the others to her family.

Kyle will move out, eventually - his lifelong dream was to see and live near the sea. Dawn's death and the subsequent changes in how the place works will eventually let him do that. He stays in contact, though, because he's actually good at that and also because his family is probably his favorite people in the world.

Elysia gets an earful about everything she's ever done from Dusk, and since she doesn't exactly have a goal anymore, after she gives up the leadership of Lonna, she....... goes back to the Sky City. Lives alone with the cat Vincent had found in the garbage all these years ago. She's alone. She doesn't have friends, she realizes she doesn't really like her parents, and she just... exists. Picks up hobbies and abandons them a lot.

But Val and Mark ?

I have no idea what they do.

If Val leaves, Mark would probably hang out with Melyane and Ava a bit before peacing out back to his tower that's still standing after all this time. That's his house. Sure, there's broken bits because it's been abandoned for 500 years, but he put spells on there, most of it is, like, all right.

If Val stays... I'm not sure. I don't think Val would want to live in the palace again - there's too many things there, but he might want to pick up Lumeria's research. Mark would be interested, too. But then what ? Do they just both go live in the magic tower ? Mark's a hermit at heart, he'd be all right with it, but Val likes being around people. He might not stay there all the time. And he doesn't have to, either.

Maybe he eventually takes up Dusk's offer after a couple of years and thinking about it very hard, and Mark knows where he is and how to contact him.

How do you tell someone they smell? Like ungodly bad? Because that's the kind of crazy drama I have going on in my life right now. My boss's breath smells like a broken sewer line, and his BO is truly offensive. It hurt to be in the same room as him, and I came close to gagging when he was talking to him. I'm not going to complain if that's my problem in life for now. I'll take something easy. But how the hell do I do it?

Work was slow today. Just that time of year. The season is coming to it's end, and I'll soon be looking for a second job, maybe even just a new job in general. As much as I love the alley, and as much as I get away with there, the pay is awful. I'm a kitchen manager/head chef, and I make a measly 12 an hour. That's it. And yeah, I've been making that work while I've been living at my mom's place, but I need to find my own place. I can't do this anymore. I hated being a teenager when I was one, and I hate being treated like it now even more. And that's how it is when my mom does stop in from her boyfriend's every couple of days. Lately, I've been safe because Alex moved back in and isn't adjusting to living with her rules again. He will. We always do. My goal is to be out by summer. I think that's pretty reasonable. And I don't need much. Hell, I'll even take a cheap ass studio. I just need a place to sleep and retreat away too. I'll find something affordable around here. Nobody wants to live in this town anymore anyway, so there's always plenty of apartments out there. There's even a couple that I've already got my eye on. It's a little more difficult with me due to an eviction in the past, and some felony charges from the past. Honestly, the felony has hurt me more than anything. But that's part of the deal, I guess. No use in complaing about it. What's one more hurdle?
