a/n: since my birthday is tomorrow, and despite my hiatus, i thought i’d give you guys a little present from me. happy halloween!
woso masterlist
It’s one of those perfect mid-October afternoons, where the world feels saturated in shades of orange, gold, and muted greens. The air is fresh with a slight bite of chill carried by the autumn breeze.
Alessia sat in the passenger seat of the car beside you, practically bouncing in her spot as you pulled up to the pumpkin patch.
When you had suggested this as a date Alessia was quick to agree, planning the whole day in her mind within seconds.
Finding a space and putting the car in park, you smile at Alessia before getting out and walking to her side, opening the door for her.
Alessia thanked you as she got out and pressed a gentle kiss against your cheek before heading to the boot of the car to get her coat. Once the two of you were wrapped up warm, you took Alessia by the hand and walked towards the entrance.
The pumpkin patch stretched out like a golden canvas beneath a pale, overcast sky. Soft, dappled sunlight filtered through the thinning branches of towering trees, casting long shadows on the ground.
Rows of pumpkins of all sizes dotted the field, their vibrant orange contrasting with the rough brown soil. Some were smooth and perfectly round, while others were lopsided or covered in twisting stems - each one unique in its own way.
Along the edges of the field, old wooden fences, weathered and grey, line the pumpkin patch, while hay bales were stacked in small clusters, offering spots for families and couples to sit and take photos.
The ground was strewn with dried leaves that crunch softly underfoot as you walked side by side with Alessia, the wind occasionally lifting a few into the air, sending them swirling in a lazy dance.
Your shoes left firm imprints in the soft dirt as you weave through the patch, the ends of your hair fluttering in the wind. Alessia came to a halt and kneeled to inspect a massive pumpkin, turning it in her hands before lifting it effortlessly. Her smile was infectious, wide and carefree, like the sun breaking through clouds.
“You like that one?” you questioned, watching as Alessia inspected the pumpkin carefully.
Alessia nodded, her smile expanding broadly. She looked back down at her pumpkin and made sure she held it tightly.
“Do you want me to carry it?” you asked with your own smile forming on your face.
“I’m okay,” Alessia said, appreciating your offer.
The two of you continue your walk around the pumpkin patch as you desperately try to find the one for you. Alessia pointed out a few but they weren’t what you had in mind.
Making your way deeper into the pumpkin patch, the rows of pumpkins seemed to stretch in every direction, a sea of orange, yellow and even speckled green. You would stop occasionally, bending down to pick up a pumpkin, feeling its weight, brushing off the bits of soil clinging to its bumpy surface.
Picking up a particularly small, round pumpkin, you smile and hold it up so Alessia could see.
“It’s the perfect size,” you teased, securing it in your arms.
Alessia chuckles and shakes her head, resting her cheek on your shoulder as she looks down at the pumpkin you had chosen.
“The bigger the better,” Alessia played along, gesturing to her pumpkin.
“At least mine has character,” you said smugly.
“Mine is definitely the winner, perfectly round, no weird bumps. I could go on,” Alessia said competitively.
“That’s the winner?” you scoffed with a grin. “As if.”
“What?” Alessia said, pouting teasingly. “Don’t have an argument to back your pumpkin up?”
“Mine speaks for itself,” you shrug, looking at your pumpkin proudly.
“It looks like it’s already been through Halloween and back!” Alessia said, unable to hold in her laugh. “Mine’s classic, sleek - it’s practically a pumpkin model.”
“Yours is too perfect,” you said with mock seriousness “No personality. My pumpkin has stories to tell. This stem alone - look at that! It’s like it’s been through the pumpkin apocalypse.”
“Mmm,” Alessia hummed, tilting her head to examine your pumpkin. “I’ll give you the stem. But mine will have the perfect face for carving. Yours might end up looking like it’s melting.”
“Only because it’ll have the most expressive face!” you grinned. “Yours is too symmetrical - it’s going to be boring.”
Alessia couldn’t contain her laughter any more as she stood beside you. She held up her pumpkin next to yours and compared them.
“What if we make a deal?” Alessia proposed. “We each carve our pumpkins tonight and we’ll let our dog decide who’s looks best.”
“Deal,” you said, smirking. “But don’t get mad when Bear chooses mine.”
“Please, he’s going straight to mine without second thought,” Alessia said, scoffing.
The two of you exchange competitive but lighthearted glances, knowing it’s all in good fun before continuing their search through the patch, joking about which pumpkins would make the most ridiculous or impressive carvings.
As the sun dipped lower in the sky, casting a warm, amber hue over the pumpkin patch, the two of you made your way to the checkout area with your pumpkins nestled carefully in your arms.
At the small wooden booth near the entrance, the cashier greets you both with a friendly smile. You let Alessia place her pumpkin down first before you place yours with exaggerated effort.
“You two have some great picks there,” the cashier said with a smile. “Going to do some carving tonight?”
“Oh, definitely,” Alessia grinned. “We’ve got a competition going - best carved pumpkin wins bragging rights for the whole season.”
“Not that I’ll need the bragging rights, since mine’s obviously going to win,” you said cockily.
The cashier laughs, handing the receipt to you after a brief exchange of payment. You both thank the cashier, and with pumpkins in hand, head toward their car.
The gravel crunches underfoot as you approach the car, and after a bit of manoeuvring, you carefully secure your pumpkins in the back. Double checking the seat belt around your pumpkin, you hum happily before sitting in the driver's seat.
“Is that necessary?” Alessia teased, waiting for you to start the car.
“Obviously,” you grinned, turning on the ignition.
Pulling out of the car parking space, you begin to make your way home. Golden fields and trees turning shades of orange and yellow flash past as you drive through the country roads.
The windows are slightly cracked, letting in the fresh, cool air as a playlist of Alessia’s choice fills the car.
“So, are you ready to lose tonight?” you said, glancing over at Alessia with a smirk.
“You keep telling yourself that,” Alessia grinned, looking out at the road ahead. “I’ve got the perfect design in mind.”
“Let me guess,” you said teasingly, “something pretty and perfectly symmetrical?”
“What’s wrong with that?” Alessia laughed. “Yours is probably going to end up with mismatched eyes or a crooked smile.”
“It adds personality,” you shrug, glancing over at Alessia again.
“Yours is going to look like it got hit by a tractor,” Alessia added playfully.
“Hey!” you said in faux hurt. “You didn’t mean that.”
Alessia laughed once more as you continued to drive. The drive through the countryside was serene, with the orange and red hues of the sunset fading into purples and blues, the soft glow of headlights lighting up the road ahead.
The car smells faintly of apples, hay, and damp earth, a lingering reminder of their afternoon in the pumpkin patch. Alessia leant her head against the window, watching the landscape blur while you hummed along to a song with your hand resting casually on the wheel.
The trees along the way seem to catch the last light of day, glowing in rich, warm tones. It’s peaceful, and the teasing back and forth between you two only adds to the cosy, playful atmosphere.
Finally turning onto your road, the lights of nearby houses begin to twinkle on, and you begin to imagine the mess of pumpkin guts and seeds that awaits you both once you start carving.
The moment Alessia opens the front door, your dog, Bear, bounds over to greet you both. It was clear that he had been waiting eagerly for you two to return, ears perked and nose sniffing curiously at the pumpkins you carried inside.
You bring the pumpkins inside, setting them down on the kitchen table with a thud before going to get a couple of carving tools from a drawer and lay them out neatly on the table.
“Hey, Bear,” you laugh, kneeling down to pet him. “Did you miss us?”
“I think he’s more interested in those pumpkins than us,” Alessia chuckled, leaning against the counter.
Bear, still wagging his tail, sniffs at the pumpkins eagerly as if trying to figure out what new game you’d brought home for him. His eyes sparkled with curiosity, and he nosed at the table as though offering to help.
“You think you can carve, too?” you asked Bear teasingly. “Maybe we should’ve gotten him a mini pumpkin to work on.”
“He would’ve ended up eating it,” Alessia laughed, giving Bear a playful scratch behind the ears.
A few candles flicker in the background, casting a warm glow around the room. The air smells faintly of cinnamon from a candle burning on the counter, and the windows reveal the darkening evening outside, with the sky now a deep shade of twilight.
Two large bowls sit nearby, one for you and the other for Alessia to put the pumpkin seeds and guts the two of you’ll scoop out.
“Alright, no backing out now,” Alessia teased as she tied her hair back.
“May the best pumpkin win,” you smile, picking up your knife of choice.
With a laugh, you both dig in, starting by cutting around the tops of their pumpkins. The scraping sound of knives cutting through thick pumpkin skin fills the air, along with the occasional groan or playful complaint.
After a bit of effort, you both pull off the tops of their pumpkins, revealing the stringy, gooey insides. Alessia scrunches her nose a little but dives in, scooping out handfuls of seeds and pulp, tossing them into the bowl.
“This part is always so gross,” Alessia said, wiping her hands on a tea towel.
“Forfeiting already?” you asked teasingly.
“You wish,” Alessia said, going back into her pumpkin.
Bear watched intently, his head tilted as you and Alessia scooped out the pumpkin guts, clearly interested in the new smells filling the room.
“What do you think, Bear,” you said, pretending to offer him a handful of pumpkin guts. “Want to help us clean up?”
Bear sniffed at the stringy pulp, but quickly backed away, wrinkling his nose in distaste, earning a laugh from you and Alessia.
“I guess that’s a no,” Alessia grinned.
You both work in relative silence for a bit, the sounds of squishing pumpkin innards and scraping echoing through the room, interspersed with the occasional playful comment.
Once the pumpkins were hollowed out, you moved on to the carving part. The two of you hunched over your respective pumpkins with intense concentration.
Bear settled at your feet, laying down but keeping a close eye on the action. Every so often, he’d lift his head, watching intently as you both carve, especially when pieces of pumpkin hit the floor. You’d toss him small bits to nibble on, but mostly he seemed content just to be part of the fun.
Alessia’s lines were neat and precise as she carved with care, creating a symmetrical, classic jack-o’-lantern face with sharp, triangular eyes and a toothy grin. You, on the other hand, were freehanding your design, occasionally stepping back to check the progress. Your lines were a bit more erratic, but you clearly enjoyed the process.
“Is that supposed to be a smile?” Alessia asked, glancing over at your pumpkin. “It looks more of a grimace.”
“It’s a smile with attitude,” you grin. “Besides, personality wins.”
“Well,” Alessia said with mock seriousness. “Personality isn’t going to save you when mine is clearly superior.”
“We’ll see,” you said, leaning back to admire your work.
After a while, you both finish carving, stepping back to admire your creations. Alessia’s pumpkin is almost picture-perfect with symmetrical, clean lines and an evenly carved smile and eyes.
Yours is a bit more lopsided, with one eye larger than the other and a mischievous, crooked grin.
“Mine’s definitely the better one,” Alessia said, crossing her arms with a proud grin.
“Yours is too perfect,” you chuckle. “At least mine has character.”
“Character my ass,” Alessia grumbled playfully.
“What was that?” you teased, leaning closer to Alessia.
“Keep those hands away,” Alessia laughed, dodging your pumpkin gut covered hands with a mock glare.
Moving towards the drawer, you pull out two tea light candles and hand one to Alessia. Together, you light the small candles and place them inside before turning off the lights. The room was instantly filled with a soft, flickering glow as the candles illuminated their designs.
“Okay, I’ll admit yours looks better in the dark,” Alessia said, gazing at hers with a smile. “But mine still looks the best.”
“That’s all I needed to hear,” you smile, wrapping your arm around Alessia’s waist. “Mine wins in the dark and everyone knows that’s the true test.”
“Bear still hasn’t decided yet,” Alessia said. resting her cheek on your shoulder.
“Let’s see shall we?” you smile, taking the candle out of your pumpkin and placing it on the floor whilst Alessia did the same.
You turn back on the lights and see Bear watching the pumpkins with quiet fascination. You stand beside Alessia and watch Bear quietly as he sniffed the pumpkins curiously.
He takes a longer sniff at Alessia’s and sits down in front of it, nuzzling his nose through the pumpkins carved out mouth.
“See,” Alessia said with a triumphant grin. “Bear thinks mine is the best.”
You let out a small huff and hang your head in defeat, accepting your fate before you hear a crunch. Looking back up, Bear seemed to be eating something but it wasn’t a pumpkin.
Gasping, you turn to Alessia in shock, “You cheat!”
“Hm?” Alessia hummed with a grin. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“You hid a treat inside your pumpkin!” you said, crossing your arms.
“No,” Alessia drawled teasingly. “I’d never.”
“You’re lucky I love you,” you chuckle, pulling her in by that waist and placing a delicate kiss on her lips.
The two of you part at the sound of Bears whining and you kneel down to give him some kisses too.
“I love you too, Bear,” you smile.
Getting back to your feet, you and Alessia head to the living room with Bear hot on your heels. You both settle down on the sofa, wrapping a blanket around you for extra warmth as Bear rested his head on your thigh.
Alessia turned on the t.v and flicked through Netflix trying to find something to watch before deciding on ‘Beetlejuice’. Pressing play on the movie, the two of you cuddle up together with Alessia resting her head on your shoulder, feeling the steady rise and fall of your breathing.
Feeling left out, Bear pawed at your hand causing you to chuckle softly and begin to stroke through his fur. Letting out a content sigh, Bear watched you and Alessia, clearly satisfied with his role as the evening’s honorary pumpkin-carving companion.

At Last
Alessia Russo x Reader
Summary: You hadn’t originally planned to be a college athlete. But you would never change the fact that you were, otherwise you would have never met Alessia Russo.
Word Count: 1,992
It had happened as a complete accident, your first week at UNC having been spent wandering around campus magically managing to stumble across the teams and club recruitment fair. The women's rowing team having spotted you like a hawk, approaching you before you even have a chance to approach them. Your short stature and small size being exactly what they needed. Sure you weren't the “ideal” build for a rower but you were for a coxswain, something UNC women's rowing team was in desperate need of after their former coxswain transferred. It was something you settled into easily, the comradery you found amongst the women nearly a foot taller than you was special. The way you would spend early morning workouts with them, well more so you sitting in the corner working on homework while they did dry workouts until you were needed on the boat. You would then spend hours on end, huddled into your tiny corner at the front of the boat, yelling direction after direction at them. Everyone following your instructions with ease.
It was on one of the many team bonding nights you were dragged to that you met Alessia, the team had insisted on going to watch one of the women's soccer games bringing you along with them even though you had no idea what was going on. The game had gone relatively well for UNC, with them coming out on top 4-1. You had thought the team would head out as soon as the game was over due to the early morning practice scheduled the next day, but you were quickly proven wrong when some of your teammates dragged you down towards the pitch. Some of the more senior players clearly having friends on the team that you were unaware of. That was when you met her, the taller blond with blue eyes. Her smile twinkling under the field lights. She was younger like you, most likely in her first year as well if the awkwardness in her stance says anything.
“Hi,” you wave towards her as you hover on the edge of your own group. A soft smile gracing your face as you take her in.
“Hi,” she responds, the British accent taking you off guard, having grown comfortable around the more southern accents normally found at your school.
“I’m Y/N,” holding your hand out for her to shake.
“Alessia,” is all she says back, her hand taking yours firmly.
That first meeting was the start of many small meetings, whether it was you going to her games, with the team or without. Or her managing to find her way to one of your meets, tolerating the very early cold mornings. These meet ups quickly turned to small dates at coffee shops near your dorms, or study dates in the library. She had become your best friend, only your best friend. You were sure to keep your growing crush underwraps not wanting to scare her away, her friendship more important to you than anything else.
That was until the year 2019, the two of you were juniors and were at the top of your sports careers. You being named one of the best womens coxswains in college rowing, and Alessia having her best season yet with the Tarheels having come back from a broken leg the season prior. Everything was going well, you had kept your crush hidden and had managed to convince everyone else around you that you in fact did not have a crush on Alessia Russo, or at least you thought you had. Then the pandemic hit, Alessia and you were bunkered down in the small apartment you shared off campus waiting to see what was going to happen. But what you didn’t know is that Alessia had already made up her mind. She wasn’t staying, she was going back to England leaving you behind in the states. Sure she had no real obligation to you, you were nothing more than close friends. But the pain that radiated through you when she sat you down was something you will never forget.
“I’m going home Y/N, I can’t stay here knowing I may not be able to get home if needed, not knowing if I will even have a season to play. I can go pro, I could start making money. I’m sorry.” Alessia's words run through your mind. Panic rushing through you at the thought of losing her, the panicked look in your eye instantly raising concern in Alessia. “Y/N are you okay? I’m sorry….”
“I love you,” You blurt out. Slamming you hand over your mouth in shock at the words that flew from your mouth. Eyes wide as you rush to leave the living room, not daring to look back at Alessia not wanting to see the disgust that was sure to be present in her eyes.
“Y/N, wait.” Alessia rushes out, grabbing your hand before you're able to make an escape. Her longer arms finally coming in handy for something other than getting stuff off the top shelf of your kitchen. Freezing in your place you refuse to look back at the taller blond. The fear settling in your stomach like a brick. “Y/N,” Alessia sighs, pulling gently on your arm trying to turn you around to face her. You comply hesitantly, staring down at your feet. “Y/N, I love you too.” Your eyes shoot up to look at her, a bright red blush spreading across your cheeks as her intensely blue eyes stare back at you.
“You what?” You ask, mentally punching yourself for letting your inside thoughts come out.
“I said I love you too, I have for a long time.” Her free hand coming up to gently brush your hair away from your face. “And I would very much like to kiss you right now, if you will let me.”
All you can do is nod your head yes, words refusing to fully form in your mind. Without hesitation her much taller form leans down to kiss you, her pink lips soft against yours. Letting go of her hand you wrap your arms around her neck, pulling yourself up onto your tippy toes to give her neck a break.
“Why did it take us so long to admit that?” You ask as you pull away, locking eyes with her.
“No idea, but I’m happy we finally did.” Alessia whispers, resting her forehead against yours.
Admitting your feelings for one another didn’t change your dynamics too much, just add in more kissing and you were pretty set. But it did make the day Alessia left even harder. She had signed with Manchester United in the WSL and with the borders rapidly closing the clock was ticking on her ability to leave. So with a tearful goodbye she went on her way, your daily conversations going from soft whispers in bed to shotty reception and interrupted FaceTime calls.
You continued on into your senior year, finishing out your degree pretty much solely online. You never get another full season before graduating, but you did get a call from USA Rowing inviting you into their Women’s eights camp. The only discipline in Olympic rowing that still used a cox’s. You knew your chances of ever landing that Olympic spot was slim but you had to try, and with the support from Alessia across the pond you had ventured into the unknown. Learning and growing from some of the best you could. That's when one of the more seasoned coxswains approached you, sharing about their experience in the United Kingdom working alongside the men's rowing team at the University of Manchester and how they conveniently needed someone for their women's program. You had shared that your partner lived in Manchester but you hadn’t expected them to remember let alone to try and help you find a way across the ocean.
You kept that information close to you, not even sharing it with Alessia right away. Not wanting to get her hopes up. So when the talks with the program director became more and more serious, and the work visa process had started you finally cracked and shared with her. The look of joy across her face making a massive smile grow on your own.
“Are you serious, here? Like soon?” Alessai asks as she tries to find a quiet corner in the Manchester United training facility.
“Yeah, real soon. I should be heading your way in just a few weeks, my love.” You respond, the excitement present in your voice.
“Oi who ya talkin to Russo,” You hear from the other end of the line, Alessia quickly dropping her phone into her lap. The footsteps of the interrupter coming closer by the second, a small struggle begins as the phone gets shaken back and forward before the face of Ella Toone appears in front of you. Her face lighting up at seeing you, “Lessie why are ya trying to hide your girl huh? Want to keep your rower all to yourself.”
“Hi Ella,” You laugh out at your girlfriend's best friend.
“Hi Y/N, just came to check in on your girl here. Training starts again in a minute you might want to head back to Lessie.” With a quick wave Ella is gone, the screen returning to an exhausted looking Alessia.
“You heard the woman, you’ve got to get back. I love you, call later?” You ask.
“Of course, I love you too.” Alessia says quickly a small grin spreading on her face as she hangs up the call. Only a few more weeks, then you would be cuddling in bed together again.
The time between you telling Alessia to now felt like it drug on and flew by at the same time. Watching out the small plane window you slowly see Manchester come into view as the plane descends into the city. You had thankfully packed light, having shipped most of your stuff over in boxes seeing as you now were going to have to navigate Manchester alone, with Alessia hung up in training. What she hadn’t known was that with the help of Ella you had managed to snag a day pass to the Manchester United training facility with full plans to use it as soon as you arrived.
By the time you had managed to clear customs you knew you were cutting it close to actually surprise Alessia. Quickly ordering an uber you made your way to the training grounds, getting dropped at the entrance you showed your badge to security. The weird looks they send you due to your luggage trailing behind you getting brushed off as you were buzzed in. You manage your way through the maze of hallways, slowly making your way closer to the training pitch, you could hear the girls yelling and screaming at one another as they scrimmaged, the otherwise empty training ground being perfect to amplify the noise.
You step into the outdoor air, watching the girls scrimmage from the sideline not daring to interfere with the training they were engaged in. Or you had hoped to not interfere, but as soon as Alessia saw you she froze. The other girls turning towards you in confusion as she stared on, but all it took was for you to send a small wave her direction to break her trance. The taller girl running towards you at full speed, colliding with you with a force you hadn’t experienced from her before.
“Oh my god you're here?” She says more as a question than a statement.
“I’m here my love, I'm here.” You whisper into her neck.
“Oi, your girl is mighty short to be a rower,” you hear shouted towards the two of you. All you could do was roll your eyes as you laughed at their statement, more and more of the girls coming over to welcome you into the group.

Our Day - Alessia Russo/Reader
prompt: Alessia and R get married.
words: 4637
warnings: none
(Y/N) POV
“You going to tell me what’s up with you now?”
Of course, Alessia had picked up that something was wrong with me on the drive back to our place. I swore that Alessia knew me better than myself; she certainly knew how to read me better than my family did.
But she wasn’t completely out of line. Normally, when she picked me up from the airport after I returned from a national team camp, I had stories to tell her about everything I had gotten up to either during practice or in my free time with Sonnett and Rose since they were the two that I was usually spotted hanging out with since neither Christen nor Ali had been called up in a while. But I had been completely silent the whole ride home and even as we headed inside.
I looked over my shoulder at Alessia as she shut the door behind her. I didn’t say anything to her, but I did hold my arms out to her. I melted into Alessia’s arms as soon as they wrapped around me. Nor did I hesitate to jump up to wrap my legs around Alessia’s waist as she moved her arms to hook them under my thighs so she could carry me.
“I just really want cuddles right now,” I softly said.
Alessia wasn’t one to deny me cuddles. I don’t think she had ever denied me cuddles since our freshman year at UNC.
We were in our room and in our bed under the covers in no time. I immediately curled up against Alessia. This was exactly what I needed after how the end of my trip home had turned out.
The two of us stayed there as we just took each other’s presence in. I had really missed having Alessia with me.
“Did you end up going to see your family?”
I nodded because I hadn’t actually decided if I was going to the family BBQ my parents had been hosting until that day. It had also been the first time since Alessia and I had decided to join the WSL that I had been to see my family by myself.
Alessia had quickly learned just how bad my relationship with my family was once we started dating. I had been hesitant about taking her to meet my parents because I was sure that they were going to have a lot of backhanded comments either about myself or Alessia. I hadn’t been wrong. The amount of comments they had made about me had concerned Alessia enough that she had asked me about it once they finally left after one of our home games at UNC.
I had to explain to Alessia how growing up with my younger sister meant that everything I had done was never enough in my parents’ eyes. If I had better grades than my sister? How dare I make her feel bad about herself for setting unreal expectations. I won the World Cup in 2015 just before I turned 16? I was on the bench for most of it whereas my sister had managed to make the cheerleading squad while I was gone. I got a full ride to go to the University of North Carolina between my grades and my soccer scholarship? Good because they had to save up so my sister could have a college fund just in case she wanted to go, so they weren’t going to help me if I didn’t have it covered by scholarships.
Spoiler alert: she never did want to go to college, so our parents just handed her the money for her to blow through as she pleased. None of us were entirely sure what happened to all the money, we just knew that she had already used it all up without investing it into anything.
After I won my second World Cup in 2019, my sister had been so upset that so much attention had been paid to me from so many people who knew my family that I had gotten scolded as soon as I had gotten to my parents’ house once we got back from France.
That was the first time Alessia’s family had also realized how badly my own family treated me as they had been helping Alessia settle back into the apartment that the two of us shared with Lotte. I had called Alessia crying so she had made the eight-hour drive the next day to pick me up before taking me back with her to UNC. Alessia’s parents had assured me that should I ever need somewhere to go for holidays to avoid my family that I was always welcomed at theirs.
“Want to tell me what happened?”
“I hate her.”
“Eve?”
Really Alessia didn’t even have to ask who I was talking about. I nodded my head in confirmation though as I buried my face in Alessia’s neck. The blonde striker threaded one of her hands into my hair as she started to massage my scalp.
“What did she do this time?”
“She wants our wedding.”
Alessia froze at that. I had the same reaction when I found out as well.
“She wants to have the same exact wedding as us?”
I shook my head as I tried to keep the tears at bay. Alessia reached up with her hand that wasn’t threaded in my hair to wipe away the tears.
“She wants to literally take our wedding. The date, the venue, and all of our vendors. She wants us to give it to her,” I said, causing Alessia to pull me closer to her. “And my parents are taking her side. It’s supposed to be our day and they all just want us to give it up like we haven’t been planning this since the Euros.”
“It’s okay, love,” Alessia softly said. I buried my head into her neck again. “It will be our day. You think any of our teammates will let them ruin it?”
I shook my head. I wasn’t sure if our teammates were more excited about our wedding than we were or not. Honestly, hearing Tooney talking about it with Alessia always brought a smile to my face. Not to mention that my own teammates were great at making sure that I never got too overwhelmed with all of the decisions that Alessia and I had to make. I think Sonnett had been the most excited for it outside of my team moms, but I also think it had more to do with her wanting to finally officially meet Tooney after all of the stories she heard me talk about what Tooney and Lessi got up to.
Alessia just held me as I tried to calm down. She would often softly whisper reassurances that everything would be okay, and we would have our day. I wasn’t sure how long the two of us laid there wrapped in each other’s arms, but I did know that I would always have Alessia.
“Why did Eve want to take our wedding?” Alessia asked again to break the silence.
“She’s pregnant.”
“I didn’t even know that her and John got engaged.”
I hadn’t either. It was obvious that my parents had known because they didn’t seem surprised like the rest of the family had been when Eve announced that they would be getting married soon.
“She said she wanted it before she started showing and so she wouldn’t have the stress of planning a wedding while she was pregnant,” I explained. It made no sense of how her decision would be fair to Alessia and I who had to be strategic about planning our own wedding to make sure that it wouldn’t clash with our WSL schedule or the NWSL schedule. But we had to be careful to make sure that we wouldn’t miss any callups to our respective national teams, especially considering that a huge majority of the people who would be attending were on our national teams. “As if we wouldn’t have to wait until 2026. But none of them are using their brains. As if Eve and John would get everything prepared to be married here in England? And the trips that they would need to be planned? Not to mention the amount of people who have already made arrangements to be here for our wedding.”
“John was on board with the idea?”
I understood why Alessia was asking. John and I had actually gotten along quite well. Alessia had gotten along with him as well. He was probably the only reason we had originally invited Eve and John.
“No, he seemed hesitant when Eve brought it up,” I admitted. John did seem genuinely uncomfortable when Eve had turned to me and even asked her to sit down. “He texted me later on and said that Eve had talked to him about it earlier, but he didn’t agree with asking me since they knew just how much planning it took for us to make sure that everyone we wanted to be there could. He also explained that he didn’t think Eve was going to bring it up or he would have warned me.”
“What did your parents say?”
“My dad asked why it mattered where we got married when I brought up that if we wanted to use the same venue we’d have to wait until 2026. And my mom told me that it was selfish because we weren’t expecting a child.”
“Why should it matter where Eve and John have their wedding then?”
“That’s what I said!”
“And why exactly can’t they wait until after Eve gives birth?”
“I don’t know.”
Alessia pulled me back into her side. It was all just so frustrating that it seemed like everything they were asking of me didn’t apply to my sister as well.
“You know we can always uninvite them, right? And we’ll let security know so that they won’t be allowed into the wedding.”
I knew it would be the next logical step for us. And it would have to be one for us to pursue to make sure that our own wedding didn’t get ruined because my family favored my sister more than me.
“Don’t worry, love,” Alessia said before she pressed a kiss to the top of my head. “I’m going to make sure that no one ruins our day.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I couldn’t help but let out a laugh once Alessia’s head came up from the bowl that her head had been buried in. Her face was covered in the whipped cream that the bowl had been filled with, but she was the first out of the group to blow a bubble with the gum she had gotten from her bowl. She sent me a grin as I shook my head before I headed for the front door once I heard the knock. I was hoping that it was the delivery driver here with our pizzas finally.
Alessia and I had been so busy figuring out games and practicing and wrapping up the planning for our wedding that we both had forgotten to figure out what we were going to prepare for dinner for the team. It was Leah who suggested that we just order pizza for the team and neither of us were going to argue against pizza.
“How much do I owe‒”
The smile immediately dropped into a frown when I cut myself off when I realized who was on my doorstep.
“What are you doing here?” I asked. I didn’t miss the way the woman winced at my tone. “Did being uninvited to the wedding not convey the message enough?”
I pushed the two further out onto the porch so that my teammates wouldn’t have to hear any of this. They were all quite aware that something serious had happened while I was visiting my family in New York, but Alessia and I had been entirely forthcoming about the situation.
“(Y/N), we need to talk to you,” Mom said.
“No, you need to leave. I have guests over.” I couldn’t believe that this kind of a move from my parents surprised me this much. “I don’t want to see either of you unless you are going to sincerely apologize for trying to hijack my wedding so that Eve could have it.”
“You need to prioritize your family,” Dad said as he pointed at me. “We all have to make sacrifices for our family. And this is a sacrifice that you need to make for your sister.”
“Oh, we all have to make sacrifices?” I asked. I shook my head as I let out a laugh at the thought. “And please tell me what kind of sacrifices that Eve has ever made for me?”
Both of my parents stood there in silence, and I wasn’t surprised. I knew that Eve had never done anything for me. I knew that Eve would never do anything for me either.
“That’s what I thought. Because she’s never done anything for this family. I never had anything growing up except for soccer and I barely had that because Eve was so jealous of my success with the one thing that I really loved that you two nearly forbad me from playing,” I pointed out as I shoved my finger into my father’s chest. I was tired of letting my family step on me. “The amount of times I had to share my birthday with her when her own is in the winter and mine in the summer? All of my presents that you would get that were for her and never me? When does it all stop being about her? Because now I have my own wedding planned out and you want me to give it to her! So, when is it going to stop?”
“(Y/N), this really isn’t fair,” Mom pleaded. She wanted to talk about being fair? To me?
The door behind me opened and I tensed as I looked over my shoulder. The last thing I needed was for it to be one of my teammates, all of which I knew could get overprotective fast. But it was just Alessia, and she could get overprotective fast but at least she knew everything that was going on.
“You’re taking too long bringing the pizzas in,” Alessia said as she wiped at the whipped cream that was still on her face. I sighed as she looked up only to freeze when she realized why it was taking me so long. “Not pizzas. Much more understandable why it’s taking so long.”
“Oi, Russo! What’s taking the missus so long?” I groaned because the last thing I wanted to add to this was our team’s card leader. “Oh, I didn’t know we were having others over.”
“Macca, just go back inside,” Alessia said.
“Why? Is everything okay out here?” Katie asked.
I sighed as I pinched the bridge of my nose. While I normally appreciated how quick Katie was to befriend Alessia and protect the blonde striker, I really didn’t want to risk adding her to the dumpster fire of an argument that was about to happen on our porch.
“No, it’s not,” Mom said. My head whipped around as I glared at her. She hesitated as she fidgeted under the glare. “(Y/N) is being selfish and refusing to help family.”
“Oi, come one, (Y/L/N),” Katie said as she nudged me. I only groaned as pretty much the rest of our team had come to see what was happening. “You gotta help out family.”
“No, you both need to leave,” Alessia cut in. Katie’s eyebrows shot up as she glanced at Alessia. This is how I knew that Alessia hadn’t told Katie the full story yet even though they had gotten close to each other. “You both know what it is we want from you, and if you can’t give us that then you need to respect our wishes and leave us alone.”
“No, (Y/N) needs to make a sacrifice for this family because family is important,” Dad said.
“Make a sacrifice? You want me to give up my entire wedding! For a sister who has never cared about me and always been put ahead of me!” I snapped. I didn’t care anymore. I didn’t care who knew the truth. I’d rather people pity me for how I was treated growing up than painted as a villain in front of my friends. “She doesn’t just get to take our wedding because she’s pregnant! Alessia and I have put so much time and effort into making sure our day was going to be perfect for us! We didn’t do it for Eve! We did it for us! If Eve wants to get married so badly before the baby is here, then she can take John to the courthouse and get married and then have a ceremony for everyone to go to later when it won’t be so stressful for her!”
“(Y/N), calm down,” Alessia softly said as she laid a hand on my arm.
“No! I’m tired!” I broke down as I looked at Alessia. My shoulders slumped forward because I knew that Alessia was aware of how I felt, but I had never once vocalized it to anyone. “I won’t play second fiddle to Eve anymore. Not when we are talking about one of the most important days of our lives. The fact that either of you are taking her side is insane! I know you both prefer her over me, but you know that we had to be so careful about the timing of our wedding because we are both professional players and so are all our friends and no one has the same season schedule so we had to be careful to make sure everyone could come! You both know that!”
“They’re calling you selfish because you refuse to give away your wedding?” Caitlin asked.
I didn’t even bother looking at my teammates. I knew that they would be on my side, but there had been that small voice in the back of my head telling me that none of them would actually support Alessia and I and our stance on this.
“Dude, that’s majorly fucked up,” Jen said.
“Language!”
“No! You don’t get to come here and scold my friends!” I said as I rounded on my mom. “I don’t want to see you anymore! You are not invited to the wedding! Dad is not invited to the wedding! Eve is not invited to the wedding! None of you are really my family! If you were none of you would have ever asked me to give up the day I get to celebrate my relationship with Alessia! My real family is the one I’ve gotten to build since I joined the national team in 2015. So don’t call me. Don’t text me. Leave Alessia and I alone because neither of us want you in our lives.”
We all stood in silence for a moment as my parents stared at me. I ignored the tears that were threatening to spill down my mom’s face. And how my dad’s jaw had slacked slightly. Neither of them deserved to be sad or shocked at my reaction, not after how they had treated me for so long.
“It’s time for you both to leave,” Kim spoke up after a moment. I recognized the tone she was using too. I had been on the receiving end of it enough times over the years to know that she was serious. “And for your sakes, I’d stay away.”
“Yeah, mates, come near either of them again and we’ll be the ones setting you straight,” Leah added on.
My parents stared at me for a moment longer before they both were heading down the road. It only took Alessia a second to wrap me up in her arms before she took me back inside.
I knew that we couldn’t avoid explaining everything to our teammates, but I just wanted to enjoy the night playing games and eating pizza with my friends. No, with my family. We could tell them everything tomorrow.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“You guys didn’t have to come.”
The two women who were sitting across from me both raised a brow. I knew that they both had their own problems to deal with.
“Alessia had to call me and Tobin just to tell me what was going on,” Christen pointed out. Had it been before this previous year, I wouldn’t have hesitated to talk about the problems I had been having to either of the women sitting with me. “You used to tell us everything and lately it seems like you haven’t been sharing anything with us.”
“You both have your own stuff going on. You don’t need my dumpster fire of a family added to that.”
“You are family to us,” Ali said. I only gave a small shrug to that. “Hey, no. The stuff you’re going through is important to us, (Y/N). We want to know what’s going on with you.”
“It isn’t fair that I burden you guys with my drama too. I mean, Christen’s trying to rehab from a fourth surgery, and you’ve been dealing with your family stuff and the whole situation.”
Christen sighed as she reached across the table to grab a hold of my hand.
“Just because we have our own stuff going on doesn’t mean you’re a burden. It’s honestly worse when you don’t tell us what’s going on. Especially since Alessia was the one to call us and tell us that we should come see you cause you were struggling.”
“It’s fine. Just my parents choosing my sister over me again. Nothing I’m not already used to.”
Christen and Ali both looked at each other. They were both well aware of the problems I had with my family considering they frequently ended up stepping up when my own parents couldn’t be bothered to help me.
“Alessia didn’t tell us much. Just said that you should be the one to explain everything to us,“ Christen added.
I only gave them a little shrug. I still hated that all of my Arsenal teammates were aware of the situation. I really didn’t want to drag more people into the depths of it all. Especially since I knew that I would get questions from my national teammates as to why my family wasn’t at the wedding anymore.
“They wanted me to give the wedding to Eve,” I admitted after we had sat in silence for a moment. “I told them no, but they came out to try and convince me again. I snapped at them in front of the team.”
“Do we need to talk to them?”
I shook my head at Ali’s suggestion. I was tired of trying to convince my parents to finally choose me over my sister. If they wouldn’t choose me for the most important day of my life, then I wouldn’t choose them anymore.
“I uninvited them to the wedding.”
“Good.”
I still felt a little guilty about it. But that was mostly because of the number of messages that I was getting from everyone in my family telling me how low it was for me to keep them all from such an important event.
“I did want to ask you two if you would take my parents spots?” Both of the older players across from me froze. “Neither of you have to. “But you both treat me like your kid more than my own parents do.”
Christen and Ali shared another look.
“(Y/N), we’d be honored,” Ali said as she reached out to grab my free hand. “You’re always going to be our kid. You moving overseas and playing for Arsenal never changed that. But if you pull any stunts with Alessia like she-who-shall-not-be-named, I’ll hunt you down myself.”
“I won’t,” I assured Ali. I knew that everything had been really rough for her lately. It had been especially frustrating that I hadn’t had the time to fly out to visit her due to my schedule. “Besides, I’m pretty sure you’d have to fight with every single Lioness and Gunner to get to me first. And you’re already barely holding it together chasing after all the twenty-year-olds in the NWSL.”
Ali rolled her eyes at me. I knew that Ali would make it her mission to get her hands on me first even if she was at the disadvantage of living overseas from me.
“So, what are you wanting us to do in the wedding?”
“I’d love it if you guys would walk me down the aisle. And the dances. Oh, and we’re gonna have a private ceremony where we sign the marriage license. I’d love for you two to be there, and for the wedding pictures.”
“We would love to.”
I softly smiled at that. It really did mean a lot. Alessia and I hadn’t really had much of a chance to talk about any of it yet, but I knew that she was prepared to ask her parents to skip those parts of the ceremony or if they could do the dances privately so that I wouldn’t feel left out.
“The father/daughter dance is to Wildflowers by Tom Petty. And the mother/daughter dance is to Never Grow Up by Taylor Swift,” I told them as I looked between them. “I don’t mind who dances with me for each of them. I would really like to share one of them with each of you.”
“You’ll get a dance with each of us. Promise,” Christen said as she grinned at me.
“Now, do you think Alessia would like it if I asked her to be a godmother for the kids as well?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“You know Ali asked me if I wanted to be a godmother?”
I couldn’t help but grin as the two of us swayed together as we watched where our friends and family were dancing in front of us.
“She might have asked if I thought you would like it.”
“I loved it.”
I gave her a soft hum of acknowledgement. I knew that she would, and I had told Ali as much. Alessia had fallen in love with Sloane and Ocean the first time she met them.
“What did you think about our day?”
“It was perfect,” I assured the blonde striker. I turned to look at her as I pulled her face to look at my own. “Everyone that I wanted to be here was. I got to dance and celebrate with the people who I consider my real family.”
“No regrets about…?” Alessia trailed off.
The two of us had been avoiding any and all talk about my biological family. We had reached out to all of our vendors as well as security to make sure that none of them could ruin our day, but today had gone off without a hitch.
“None. I think it was the first time in a long time that I’ve been happy not to have them around for such a big milestone in my life and I think it’s because it was my choice.”
While Alessia and I hadn’t made much of a mention of my biological family, it didn’t mean that my therapist hadn’t helped me through it. But I was truly at peace with the situation.
“I’m happy to hear that, darling.”
“Besides, I got to marry the love of my life.”
“There’s nothing I would trade to marry you.”
“Not even a World Cup?”
“Not even for a World Cup. Much rather would be known as the wife of (Y/N) Russo rather than have a World Cup.”
“Careful there, Russo, your WAG is showing.”
“Let it. After all, it’s our day. We’ve got everyone we want here. And we’ve got each other for the rest of our lives. Nothing can ruin it for us.”
Holiday getaway (Alessia Russo x reader, Ella toone x reader)
“God, it’s so hot.” Alessia moans as she lies back against the sun bed. “Yeah, it is.” Ella bites her lip as she stares at your half naked body, the bikini Alessia bought for you hugged your figure perfectly.
Hearing the younger girl’s suggestive tone, she lifts her glasses raising a questioning eyebrow before Ella nods over to you. Now intrigued, Alessia glances over to where Ella’s eyes have been focused for the last couple of minutes.
Oblivious to both your girlfriends ogling, you struggle to cover all your back with suncream. Noticing your struggle, Alessia’s quick to get up and give you a hand.
You jump as you feel familiar hands snake their way around your waist, “Do you need a hand, darling.” She whispers as she gently removes the bottle of suncream from your hand.
Shooting her a grateful smile you hear the lid of the bottle pop off before you feel the cold cream being lathered on your back, her soft hands taking advantage of all the exposed skin.
Ella crosses her arms with a huff as she watches Alessia massage the suncream on your back. The blonde lifts her head throwing the brunette a cocky look as she exaggerates her movements hoping to get a reaction out of Ella.
You feel Alessia’s hands wander down to your ass giving it a playful squeeze. “Watch those hands,” you warn as you turn your head sideways to look at her, “I’m just making sure you don’t get a burnt baby.”
You hear Ella scoff dramatically from where she is lying, arms still firmly crossed accentuating her toned muscles. You mockingly pout as you walk over to your ‘abandoned’ girlfriend. “Awww is someone feeling left out?” You mock.
You hear Alessia snicker behind you as Ella glares at the both of you, “You two always gang up on me,” she whines as she sinks further down into her sunbed moodily.
“Maybe if you didn’t make it so easy, it wouldn’t happen so often.” Alessia mumbles under her breath, laughing to herself before throwing herself back down on the sun bed.
Now taking pity on your girlfriend, you unwrap her crossed arms before lying down on your stomach in between her legs and resting your head against her chest.
You teasingly pout at her before playfully pinching her cheek trying to elicit a smile out of the normally mischievous girl. She tries staying mad as long as she can but the soft look you are giving her has her folding like a deck chair.
“You’re so pretty, ya know.” Her accent thick as she tightens her hold on you. You slowly lean in to kiss the smirk off her face, hand moving to cup her jaw while tilting her head down to deepen the kiss.
Meanwhile on the other sun bed, the blonde lies happily unbothered as she works on her tan.
You bury her face into her neck as you try to escape from the heat, Ella’s bucket hat blocking a little bit of the sun.
“Aww, what a cute couple?” You can practically feel Ella’s smug grin from where you are hiding. The comment however grabs Alessia’s attention pulling from her relaxed state. She slides her glasses down to the bridge of her nose silently cursing the woman who unknowingly gave the brunette endless bragging rights.
“Aww! Did you hear that babe! She thinks we make a good couple!” You snicker at your girlfriend's form of revenge, slapping her leg lightly as she raises her voice, making sure that the Italian hears her.
“AwW! DiD yOu heAR tHat BAbe?!” Alessia mocks as it was turn to cross her arms huffing even more as she hears your reply.
“Well we did just kiss, El.”
“Still it’s nice to be recognised!” She shouts in your ear trying to rile Alessia up further.
Not wanting to be apart of another bicker between the two, you begrudgingly pull yourself up out of Ella’s comfy embrace.
“I’ll show you some recognition.”
“You’re just jealous!” Ella taunts watching Alessia sit up abruptly.
“Am not! I just don’t need attention 24/7!”
“Oi! I do not need attention 24/7!”
“Mhm.”
“Don’t mhm me, you are mad because i got a kiss and you haven’t.”
“Oh, I could get a kiss whenever I want!” Alessia goes to prove her point but finds the spot you were once taking up empty.
Deciding to leave the two girls at their petty fight, you told them you were going for a swim, which was drowned out by their back and forth bickering.
Alessia shrugs, forgetting about the argument was in favour of focusing back on her tan as Ella quietly celebrates.
The Beautiful Game and Books - Alessia Russo x reader
Hey guys! So I had this idea for a fic which I really liked. But as I was writing it I realized how long it was and saw that I could make it into a 2 parter. And when I put it to a vote you said to post the first part so here it is!!!!! This is my own little take on a jock x Nerd fic so I hope you enjoy! I am working on the second part but I am swamped at the moment but I will post it as soon as possible. But for now I hope you like this!
You let out a sigh as you entered the familiar house hoping it wouldn't be long. Your evening was busy with plans of laying in bed rewatching either The Vampire Diaries or Harry Potter, whatever you were in the mood for honestly.
But your plans to rush home had been interrupted when your mother had texted you to make a detour.
The Russo residence was a place you frequented often. What with your mother being best friends with Carol you were over to their house often whether it was just for regular catch-ups or for weekly dinners. It also wasn't lost on you that with their daughter being the same age as you and going to the same school that your parents had hoped you and Alessia would become best friends just like them.
Probably to give them more excuses to hang out.
But unfortunately for your mothers, their plan didn't work. You and the youngest Russo just didn't click really. Maybe it was just that your personalities didn't work. You were always quiet and very timid and enjoyed reading and kept to yourself. While Alessia was always the friendly outgoing loveable girl who was always outside playing football.
Don't get it wrong, you didn't hate each other. You were civil with each other when at each other's houses and when the two families were together. But your conversations didn't go much past how you were finding classes you shared or some stupid school gossip.
Honestly you probably got on better with her brothers than you did with her.
You were so familiar with the house that you entered without knocking and called out, "Mum?" You couldn't help but roll your eyes at the small joke of 'which one' your mother and her best friend shared as you walked into the kitchen where they were.
"Might as well be talking to Carol. At least she wouldn't forget to pick me up from school and leave me abandoned" you tease as Carol chuckles as she gives you a side hug just to tease your mother further.
But your mother takes it in stride as she rolls her eyes with a scoff. "It was one time. You would swear I'm neglecting you. I just got the days mixed up".
Which you fully understood you knew that you were usually busy studying in the library after school most days but after the library had closed for some small renovations for the week it meant you got to go home after school. Something your mother had forgotten and you were ready to walk home when Carol who was already picking up Alessia offered you a lift.
But that doesn't mean you couldn't tease your mother for it.
"Your only child. Left forgotten and abandoned at the school gates. About to walk the dangerous streets alone home if it wasn't for Carol" you sigh dramatically as you lean into the Russo woman who laughed at your dramatics.
"Maybe Carol can look after you then" Your mother quipped back as she sipped her tea.
But Carol quickly interjects with a shake of the head. "Oh I don't think so I think 3 is enough for me. Besides" she starts with a grin, "she's definitely your daughter. She's almost as dramatic as you".
"Hey!" You and your mother call out in unison. "I am not dramatic/ Almost?" You and your mother glare at each other before it's turned on the Russo as the two of you hear her giggle at you both.
"So how has school been?" Carol asks trying to quickly move on with the conversation.
You just shrug, "Eh. Fine. Nothing new. Learned some stuff, corrected a few teachers and helped a few people after school. The usual".
The best friends shared a look of amusement over their cups of tea. Honestly where your studious nature and love of books came from was lost on your mother. It definitely wasn't from her and your father wasn't exactly the brightest either. But you had always been academically gifted even going so far as to point out corrections to teachers in school.
A small part of her thought it was because of your father leaving when you were younger but that wasn't something either of you talked about.
Your teachers had gone to your mother a few times saying you would be better off looking into schools with a bit more challenging course work for you or at the very least maybe skipping a year or maybe two. But you were perfectly content where you were.
You and your mother against the world.
"So the call I got from the school earlier then?" Your mother prodded, "About Mr Wickerman?"
But you just shrug nonchalantly, "Personally I don't know what his problem is".
Your mother raised an eyebrow at you, "Well do you want to give me a heads up on the 'inappropriate writing assignment' you handed in so I'm not blindsided when I have to meet with him tomorrow?"
You held up your hands, "Hey I hit the brief!" You sighed as you were fixed with a look by both women. "The assignment was to write a short story about a secret gradually coming out" you explained to which they both nodded prompting you to continue. You ran a hand through your hair, "So I wrote about a girl's parents finding out she was dating someone. Only when they are finally introduced, they meet her girlfriend rather than her boyfriend". You shrug, "If anything I hit the brief twice. It was a secret gradually coming out AND an actual coming out! Not my fault Mr Wickerman is a homophobic prick".
Your mother gives you a stern glare before you relient a bit like a small child being scolded, "Sorry". For such a quiet and intelligent girl, your mother was forever scolding you for your language.
She always told you had a mouth like a sailor.
Your mother sighed before giving you a reassuring smile letting you know you weren't in trouble, "I'll sort it out".
And while you knew you were in the right you couldn't help but feel guilty in that instant. Knowing that your mother already had enough to worry about without having to defend your actions to the school.
Even if it was against homophobic asshole who should just retire already.
But like always it's as if your mother can read your mind as she reaches over and squeezes your hand with a soft look in her eye. "I've never liked him anyways" she jokes, making you let out a laugh.
"So now that I'm not in trouble…does that mean I can go home? I have plans" you try but your mother just scoffs.
"And plans you mean to sit in your room and watch Netflix" she says looking at you knowingly.
But you just smile at her, "You just know me so well". "Does that mean I can go?" You try again angling yourself towards the door when your mother stops you again.
"Actually no. There's something we need to talk to you about…"
That gets your attention as your eyes flicker to the Russo woman before landing back on your mother, "We? What's going on?"
But your question is interrupted by the front door opening once more and another call of "Mum I'm home" breaches your ears. It isn't long after the youngest Russo makes an appearance quickly moving to her mother and greeting her with a kiss on the kiss and then greeting your mother with a smile.
You just about barely got a nod of recognition.
Not that you really cared.
"Hey Honey how was training?" Carol asked as Alessia was already moving towards the stairs.
"Good" she answered simply before throwing a thumb over her shoulder, "I'm going to have a shower. I'm meeting some of the girls in town".
But just like you she was quickly stopped by her mother. "Actually Alessia we need to have a quick chat first".
She paused her movements but did as her mother told her. She briefly looked at you as if silently asking if you knew but you just gave her a shrug. Letting her know you were both clueless about whatever this is.
Carol's voice dropped slightly as she fixed her eyes on the brunette. "Less, the school have been on to us about your grades".
That was all Alessia needed to know what this was about. However, you could tell by how her eyes quickly glanced at you that she didn't feel fully comfortable talking about it in front of you. But that didn't stop her from pleading her case.
"I know Mum" she said quickly probably not wanting her to say anything else in front of me. "It's just with football it's hard to keep up all the time".
Carol quickly nodded and it was one of the things you loved about her, she didn't show any signs of anger only understanding. "We know Less. And we are so proud of you and we know how hard you work". "And even though we know how hard you work doesn't mean you don't need a hand" she says soothingly.
Once again her eyes flickered at you, "Mum can we please talk about this later?"
But she stood firm, "Less we decided that you need a tutor if you're going to keep up with both school and football".
You could tell she was displeased with the idea immediately. "Mummmm" she groaned and you had to withhold the scoff as you swore you could almost hear the childish footstomp to go with her tantrum.
"Alessia we only want what's best for you. In football and in school" Carol said firmly letting her know she wasn't budging on this.
She's quiet for a few second before sighing, "Fine. I'll find one later".
But it seems it was your mother's turn now. "Actually we already have one in mind" your mother said as she turned to you.
You could feel your eyes widen as they all turn to you. "Me?" You asked pointing to yourself.
"Your top of your class and don't think I don't know that Luca and Giorgio go to you when they need help with homework" Carol says as you blush.
"Not really…" you try but from the look of the two older women their minds were already made up.
"How about the two of you go upstairs and get started?" Carol said looking at the both of you. When you looked to your mum you knew she wouldn't save you.
"But mum!" Alessia whined once more but Carol was having none of it.
"Alessia don't be rude" she scolds as she nods towards you who awkwardly stood there as Alessia eyed you up.
Albeit grudgingly, Alessia sighed and nodded, "Fine". She then turned and quickly went up the stairs making sure to make her footsteps thump that little bit harder to let everyone know of her displeasure.
You gave them a tight lipped smile as you turned and followed her. Already dreading this. Like you siad you had nothing against Alessia but you knew if it wasn't for Carol you definitely wouldn't be helping her right now. Especially as it wasn't like you wanted to do this either.
You last about 45 minutes before you made the excuse of going home to plan future sessions which Alessia is only too happy to accept. You couldn't take the awkward looks and the weird tension. And it was clearly mutual as Alessia just busied herself on her phone instead of trying to actually talk to you apart from short answers anytime you tried to make conversation.
But you knew there would be no getting out of this. The Russo's were practically family after all. So when your mother asked how did it go on the drive home. Of course you gave her a fake smile and a nod saying it went well.
You made sure your mother seemed happy with your answer before you leaned your head up against the window and prayed that tomorrow with Alessia would be a bit better.
Who knows maybe you'll actually end up friends by the end of this?
~~~
Yeah you can forget about you and Alessia being friends.
Your day went about normally. You kept your head down and carried on with your classes as you usually do. Talking to the few people you usually talk to. You wouldn't classify them as friends, you didn't know them well enough for that.
It was more people you sat beside in some classes. They were the kind of people you would give a nod to in the hallway as well as just casual conversation in classes. Just so you wouldn't have to sit in that awkward silence.
The closest thing you would say you would have to a friend would be Ben. You sat beside each other in English and were both a bit of loners. And you bonded over the fact that you both hated Me Wickerman. As well as the fact that you both had the same teasing sense of humour. But again you wouldn't really talk outside of school apart from the odd time.
It was the end of the day and everyone was rushing out of class to their lockers to try and grab their things and run home. You walked out of English with Ben as you teased him how you scored higher than him (like always) when you spotted Alessia talking with her friends.
You waved goodbye to the boy as you ducked your way through the crowd. You had agreed yesterday that you would meet with Alessia to study but you hadn't said where so you decided you better catch her before she goes home as well as probably get her phone number so stuff like this can be avoided.
You didn't think it would be a good idea to get her number from her brother's. As they were still looking for revenge for the prank you pulled on both of them.
Let's just say they learned never to ask you to put in a good word for them with their crushes again.
But it was times like these that reminded you that Alessia probably forgot you went to the same school. Because she probably would have been more careful about being overheard if she did.
You had been walking up to her little group of friends when you could overhear their conversation. "Cmon Less everyone's going!"
You slowed down not wanting to interrupt their conversation. But you couldn't help but overhear them.
But the brunette just sigh as she rumaged through her locker, "I can't I have plans".
You couldn't help but roll your eyes at her disinterest. It wasn't like this was your first choice either. You didn't exactly get a choice in this either.
Her friends just groan, "But everyone is going! You have to come. Just come!"
While you can't see most of their faces, you could already tell they were slowly trying to convince Alessia. Not wanting their ringleader to miss out. But you weren't worried. This is Alessia. You knew you weren't the closest but you knew her. There was no way she would just blow you off like that…
"Yeah…maybe" Alessia started but you could see her resolve crumble as she looks at her friends. "Fine" she sighs, "I'll sort something out".
You honestly couldn't believe it. You knew you didn't know the football player well but you've known each other since you were babies. And Alessia was always the nice friendly girl. You honestly couldn't believe what you were hearing.
You couldn't stop the loud scoff from slipping out. But it must have been louder than you thought as it seems to catch the brunette's attention.
A tiny part of you enjoys how her eyes widen and an obvious blush tints her face at the fact she's been caught. But you just hardened your glare as your crossed your arms ignoring all the curious looks you received from her friends.
"You know I don't exactly want to do this either. But I thought you would at least have the common decency to at least not blow me off when your the one that needs help" you snipe. But you can tell but the way that Alessia couldn't look you in the eyes that you wouldn't be getting an answer you liked. "Whatever" you scoff before turning away to walk home.
Thankfully it was one of the days you were walking home so you didn't have to deal with your mother investigating your foul mood as she had work. And how you clocked Carol's car before she spotted you and you steered clear of the car. The last thing you wanted right now was to be in the same car as the brunette.
You were fuming the entire way home once again thankful that no one was home and you already had all your homework for tomorrow done. As the second you got home you slammed the door behind you, rush up the stairs taking 2 at a time and flopped into bed hoping that Harry Potter would help forgot the foul mood the football player had put you in.
~~~
You sighed as you heard a knock on the door. You leaned your head against your propped up fist not even turning to the door, "Mum I'll be done in a minute I just need to finish this up".
"Yeah not your mum…"
You looked over your shoulder unimpressed as you see Alessia standing nervously by your door. But don't say anything as you instead turn back to your work. "What are you doing here Russo?"
"I uh tried to find you after school but that guy you hang out with uh Ben? He said you left early" Alessia reveals.
You can hear her sigh as she moves behind you. "Look I know your upset with me. And you have every right to be". You heard her sigh as you pause your work again as you look at her over your shoulder letting her know you were listening.
"You were right" she sighed as she played with her hands. "It's not exactly like you wanted to help me either and I should be grateful that you're even willing to help me". Her cheeks darken with a blush as she pursues her lips, "That is if you still want to help me that is".
But that seems to do it for you as you scoff and drop your pen finally turning back to you. "What? Finally realise that you actually need my help?" You scoff as you shake your head, "I don't know why I expected any different".
"It's not like that" Alessia tries but you don't let her off lightly.
"Oh give me a break Russo" you spit out harshly. "Your only here cause you need something. Because no matter how sweet and kind you maybe seem everyone is the same. Everyone's looking for something and I've already been burned before and I rather not go through that again".
Your just about able to bite your tongue and you silently fume thinking back on that time. But you shake your head once again scoffing at the Football player, "You haven't even said your sorry".
"You're right" Alessia said after a small pause. "I'm sorry" she said, "I'm really sorry". There's another brief silence before Alessia asks, "Why didn't you tell my mum?"
While you were able to dodge her yesterday successfully, it didn't work today as she had caught me when she came around to drop something off to mum. She had asked how it was going with Alessia and I didn't have the heart to tell her what happened.
She only wanted what was best for her daughter.
"Because she's like a second mum to me and I didn't have the heart to tell her" you tell her honestly. "She adores you Alessia. I didn't have it in me to tell her that the apple of her eye decided to ditch me last minute".
"Thank you" she said shyly but you could tell she was genuinely grateful for you not snitching on her.
You nod before you were interrupted by your mother shouting up to you that dinner was ready. Alessia didn't even have a chance to escape as your mother already had a plate ready for her.
Dinner was another awkward affair but thankfully most of the heat was off you as your mother focused on Alessia asking about what she's been up to and how the studying has been going. Afterwards you were both excused to go back upstairs to study.
You both awkwardly sit in your room once more neither of you knowing what to say. Until it was Alessia who once again broke it.
"You said before" she starts cautiously, "that you already got burned once before". She eyed you carefully, "What did you mean by that?"
Your eyes close for a second as you really regret letting that slip out. But you knew you had no other option really. "I think it's obviously I'm not the most popular in school" you said jokingly trying to ease yourself into it. "So you can imagine my surprise when one of the guys on the soccer team started talking to me".
It took everything in Alessia not to correct you but she knew she was already on thin ice. That and it seemed that it wasn't exactly the time to joke about something so small.
You played with your fingers as you shrugged, "It was nice. And I let myself believe he was actually interested in me. When it turns out he was just interested in the fact that I could do his homework for him".
You couldn't stand the pitiful look the Brunette sent you. "Like I said Alessia. Everyone wants something". You shrug emotionlessly, "Probably should have suspected something earlier. I mean who would be interested in me right?"
There's a second silence which made you think Alessia was about to agree with you. But then you heard shuffling and you looked up to see her standing from your desk chair moving to sit on the bed beside you.
"I'm sorry" she started gentle as the two of you sat shoulder to shoulder on your bed. "I'm sorry you had to go through that. That he was too much of a jackass to see how amazing you are. And I'm really sorry that I was a right idiot as well. You didn't deserve any of that".
You just accepted the apology with a smile as you looked down at your clasped hands together.
You couldn't help but let out a tiny snort, "Don't you find this funny?" You grin as Alessia tilts her head at you. "I mean we've known each other since babies but I'd say we know hardly anything about each other other than the obvious".
Alessia thinks for a second before humming as she realizes how right you were. Beyond the basics, she couldn't think of a single thing she could say about you.
Which was highly concerning seeing as like you said you have literally known each other since you were born.
"How about we change that so?" Alessia asked as it was now her turn to grin as you turned to her confused. But she simply held out her hand for a handshake. "Hi, I'm Alessia Russo. But my friends call me Less".
You couldn't stop the grin blooming on your face at how stupid this whole interaction was. But that didn't stop you from shaking her hand. "It's very nice to meet you Alessia".
Alessia gives you a wide grin one that you've only seen when she's around her family or playing football. "I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship".
~~~
Honestly you could tell why Alessia was failing.
"Less! C'mon you need to focus!" You groaned as you can see her start to doodle on her page.
This was your second study session with the football player and you were already losing hope. It didn't take much for the Russo to lose focus. It didn't help that for the past half an hour her brothers kept coming in for the dumbest excuses. It seems that they heard about your struggles to help tutor their sister and used it to their advantage to exact revenge.
Any other time you would have found their distractions hilarious but not right now when you're failing to help Alessia.
"I'm sorry" Alessia sighed as she dropped the pen. She ran her hands through her hair in frustration and you couldn't help but feel bad, "I just can't seem to get this".
You take a deep breath as you slowly let yourself calm down. "I know I'm sorry. I'm sorry".
Alessia pouted as she stared at the book. "I don't know how you understand all this. I can't even keep focus long enough to actually get through it".
You roll your eyes as you lean against your fist. "I'm starting to think that the only time you're really focused is…" but you trail off as your eyes land on a random football in the corner of her room.
Alessia looks at you as you fall silent. But she jolts when you suddenly pop up from your seat. "What's wrong?"
But you don't answer as you grab both the football and the textbook in front of the brunette and stand up. "New plan. Get up c'mon". Alessia eager to get away from all her failed attempts at notes, gets up and follows you.
Her brother's both give you strange looks but you just wave them off as you lead her to their back garden.
"Here. Catch" you said as you throw Alessia the ball.
She just about catches it as she starts to mess with the ball in her hands. "Okay? So what now?"
You shake your hand at her as you try to explain it to her. "Can you do that thing? Where you mess with the ball? Just like kick it around?"
Alessia just scrunches her face as she tilts her head. "You mean juggling? Like juggle the ball?"
To be honest you're not even listening to her really as you flick to the page you left off at. "Yeah sure that". You look up as Alessia to see her giving you a strange look but eventually just starts playing with the ball.
You give her a minute or two to just mess about with the ball before you focus on the page in front of you. "You have to study the formation of a waterfall right?" You ask as you look down at the page. Alessia just hums but that's enough to show she's listening.
You smile as you start to read out of the textbook. Your smile widens when Alessia without looking up from the ball asks you to repeat the last part which proves to you she's listening.
You do as she says as you continue to read. Occasionally stopping in order to reread a section or to answer a question Alessia has.
When you finally finish the section you put the textbook aside as you stick your leg out and poke the ball away from Alessia who looks up at you with a pout. You couldn't help but chuckle as you pick up the ball. "Okay then. Tell me how a waterfall forms".
But her shoulders drop as she sighs with her hands on her hips. "You already know I can't".
But you just shrug with a smile throwing her the ball, "Humour me".
Alessia frowns at you but then slowly starts to explain as she repeats back what you just read to her. You can't prevent the smile spreading across your face as you almost dance on the spot. "Less! That's right!"
Her head snaps up at you, "Wait seriously?"
You clap your hands together with a nod, "Yes! That was practically perfect. Like it was right out of the book".
Alessia blushes at the small praise as she smiles, "I don't know how I did that". She scratches the back of her head, "I guess I just understood it better when you explained it to me".
You smile and nod, "You're an auditory learner".
She scrunches her face at you as she tilts her head obviously confused. "What?"
You can't help but giggle at her finding it a bit adorable at how clueless she was. "You learn better when someone is reading or explaining it to you rather than when you read it" you explained.
Alessia nods before throwing you back the ball. "Then what was the whole point of the ball?"
You shrug as your throw the ball between your hands. "You were too worked up. I thought messing around with the ball would help you relax a bit. Seems I was right".
Alessia smiles and can't help but squeal as she hugs you, "You are an actual genius! Thank you!"
You're shocked but you slowly hug her back. You let her hug you for a bit longer before you pat her back, "I try. Now c'mon we've got more studying to do".
Alessia groans but quickly shuts up when she narrowly dodges the ball you throw at her head.
~~~
"You do know we could just reschedule this right?" You said as Alessia makes sure she has everything she needs.
But Alessia just shakes her head as she tosses her gearbag into the boot, "I can't". She shuts the boot as she sighs and you can see it in her eyes how stressed she is, "We have that test coming up and I can't afford to fail".
You couldn't help but soften at the sight of her. You could see how worked up Less was about this test. She knew she was good at football and that is what she wanted to do. But she also knew that scouts would look at more than just her football ability but would also look at her academic ability.
But more importantly she didn't want to let her family down.
……or you
"Less" you say softly as you grab one of her hands. "You've been working so hard lately. We can all see it. You have been doing so good and I just know you're going to pass that test".
You're happy to see the small uptick in Alessia's lips as her eyes shine a little brighter. "You really think so?"
You don't know why but a small part of you feels warm at the fact that she seeks your approval. That your opinion really means that much to her. "Of course I do" you say gently, letting your genuinity shine through truly wanting her to know how much you really mean it.
You grin as you bump your shoulder against hers not wanting her to be nervous on the way to her match. "Do you seriously think I would be joining you and your dad on an hour's drive to watch a soccer match if I didn't have full faith in you?" You scoff in mock disbelief, "How dare you!"
Alessia laughs as she nudges you back as you lean back against the car.
You couldn't explain it. It was just something about the way she smiled and laughed made your chest feel lighter. It just made you want to keep her smiling and laughing always.
If you were being really honest, you wanted to be the reason she was smiling and laughing.
"And it's football not soccer weirdo" Alessia corrects you.
Honestly you didn't really care whatever you called it. You just liked to rile the poor girl up for your own amusement. "Oh so when my mother calls it soccer you have no problem. But when I do it, it's suddenly wrong".
But Alessia just tsks and shakes her head sagely, "That's because she's American. You on the other hand have lived here your entire life and should know better".
You roll your eyes and click your tongue at her, making her laugh. You open your mouth to argue but you're interrupted by her dad coming out to the car saying you better set off now if she doesn't want to be late. The two of you climb into the back seats getting your books out to study on the drive to the game.
Her dad tried to make small talk with you, probably not used to the quiet in the car. But it's surprisingly Alessia who shushes him.
You and Mario lock eyes in the mirror before you look over at her amused as she is fully concentrated on her (your) notes. As predicted she only lasted another 20 minutes before she begins to whine and beg you to read them out to her. Claiming as always it's easier when you read them to her.
You raise an eyebrow at her but the second she pouts at you, you crumble holding out your hand to take the notes. To which she passes them to you, a bit too happy in your opinion.
You start to read as Alessia leans up against you so she can follow along on the page while also looking at the different diagrams and graphs. Honestly you had become so use to her lying her head on your shoulder but you still had to school your face every time you could feel her breath brush against your neck.
The first few times it had happened you had thought you had actually bored her to death and she had fallen asleep. But with the occasional question or asking you to explain something to her, it was enough to know she was still following along.
It was almost funny how well the two of you worked together. It was almost as if you worked off each other. It was all the small things. How Alessia would turn the page for you (although you had a feeling that was also because she didn't want to compromise her comfy position). Or how when strand of hair fell in her face you would gently brush them behind her ear. Small little actions done without even having to communicate with each other.
Or how you knew when Alessia had a problem with a certain part as she would bring over your favorite treats as a silent apology for all the questions and help she was about to ask you for.
Or how Alessia would wordlessly take some books to carry for you cause you are the biggest bookworm she knew and didn't know how you carried all these books as she even struggled to take all of them.
It was all those small little actions which had not gone unnoticed by your mother's.
But that's entirely whole other problem.
Sooner than you think Mario lets you know you're about 5 minutes away. So you decide that enough has been done as you put the notes aside. Alessia tries to object but you just shush her as you tell her she should take a break and relax before she has to get ready for the game.
She lifts her head to pout at you but let out a sigh as she drops her head right back into the burrow of your neck. The car is silent for the rest of the drive as you allow her to get focused on the game. Even you take the few minutes to rest your head back and close your eyes. Not even opening them when you feel Alessia start to play with the rings on your fingers.
But you don't say anything as you just smile and close your eyes once more. A few minutes later you can feel the car roll to a stop as Alessia squeezed your hand thinking you might have dozed off.
The two of you stretch feeling slightly stiff from being stuck in the back seats for a while. But as Alessia takes off her seatbelt, you gently touch her arm stopping her from getting out.
"Good luck" you smile at her as you squeeze her arm, "you're going to smash it".
Alessia doesn't say anything but judging by the megawatt smile spreading across her face she appreciated the encouragement. With one small squeeze on your hand in thanks, she gets out of the car and grabs her gear before running over to some of her teammates.
You couldn't help but follow her as you watch as she joins over to some of her teammates before they rush off to the dressing rooms.
The car is quiet for a second before Mario snorts out a laugh. You look at him quizzically as he looks back at you in the mirror amused. "You haven't a clue about football do you?" He asks, grinning at you. You shake your head but you couldn't help but smile.
"Not a clue".
Mario laughs as he shakes his head as he nods his head, "Alright then. C'mon let's go find seats".
And after 90 minutes you still hadn't a clue. Honestly you didn't see the appeal. Chasing a ball around for 90 minutes. But that didn't mean you didn't find ways to entertain yourself. For one you found it highly amusing how worked up Mario got over the game as he acted as if it was the be all and end all.
And what also surprised you was how sassy Alessia got when playing. You spotted the sweet polite girl often talking back to the referee and making (what you could only guess) snippy comments to the other teams players.
But you did find it sweet how when she scores, she looked up to find her dad. Although you were probably easy to find due to Mario's loud cheering.
Honestly it was kind of refreshing to see the girl smiling. With the amount of studying the two of you had been doing and how much she was stressing over her upcoming test, it had been a while since you had seen her properly smile or look so relaxed.
But honestly it was worth standing out in the cold for the better part of 2 hours as when Alessia came over to us and Mario made a whole song and dance over her.
"Dad!" Alessia groaned as Mario cheered and swept her into a massive hug gaining looks from everyone around. "Dad, stop it!" Alessia whined as her face burns red. Her eyes narrowing when she sees you giggling at her embarrassment.
"Nothing wrong with showing everyone how proud I am of you" he says sternly but you can tell he's enjoying messing with her.
You take that as your chance to join in on the ribbing, "Yeah superstar. I mean you did score the winning goal after all". It seems that Alessia's mood considerably brightens at the reminder.
Mario laughs, "Yeah I don't think I have ever seen this one so excited. Much less over football".
You shrug, "Still don't see the appeal of Football".
But obviously that was the wrong thing to say as Alessia took that as an opportunity to try and explain to you every reason why football was appealing.
Even as you climb back into the car, Alessia continues on why football is the greatest sport alive as you nod along. Until you're completely drained and now the roles are reversed as you rest your head against hers. Alessia pausing her rant to let you settle softly against her.
She still continues on but in a softer tone until she sees you drift off. She feels your head start to slip off her shoulder as she wraps an arm around you and pulls you against her.
She practically holds her breath as you shift in your sleep. Her face darkens crimson when she realised your face is buried in her neck as your breath hitting her neck sends shivers down her spine. She tries to shift back a bit but realises she can't when she sees that you have her shirt balled up in your hands leaving her no chance to snuggle back up with you.
When Mario looks back, he smiles softly as he sees the two of you sound asleep in each other's arms peacefully leaning into each other for comfort.
~~~
Your eyes widen and you blink at the girl who shakes her head ag your reaction. "Sorry. Say that again? Because I definitely must have miss heard you". You shake your own head as you with out a small chuckle, "Cause I could have sworn you said you were going to teach me football".
It was a usually weekend dinner with the two families. But with the weather being unusually nice they had decided to move if outside to take advantage of the rare sunny day. So while both of your mother gossiped about God knows what and Gio and Luca helped Mario with a barbeque, Alessia had decided to drag you out to the garden.
Although you weren't expecting this.
But the footballer just smiled amusedly at you as she grinned at you, "No you heard right. That's exactly what I said".
You raise your eyebrows at her but you continue smiling at her, "You are insane".
"C'mon!" Alessia groans as she throws the ball between her hands. "You help me study for classes. I think it's my turn to teach you something".
You pouted and stomped your foot with a whine a bit like a petulant child but you didn't really care. Even though you rolled your eyes when you saw Alessia giggle at your antics. "But that's different! I'm helping you study for your education! That's important!"
Alessia pouted now tilting her head at you, "Football is important too".
You fixed her with a look, "Too you! Football isn't important to me!" You clarified knowing she had a point. Her whole life practically revolves around the sport.
But Alessia ignores your entire argument and instead grins smugly at you, "You called it Football".
You let out a loud groan that I'm sure your mothers could hear from their seats across the garden. "Really? That's all you got from that?"
But she doesn't say anything, only shrugs her shoulders with a grin. She drops the ball and starts juggling it with ease. "See look, it's not that hard!" She kicks it higher and catches it, "You're always saying I'm too clumsy. So if I can do it then so can you".
I raise an eyebrow at her, "First of all I stand by that statement. You are the clumiest person I've ever met. But at least on a soccer field you know what you're doing. I haven't an athletic bone in my body!"
Alessia grins widely, "Well that's about to change cause we're doing it!"
You groan but Alessia takes no notice as she kicks you the ball to which you squeal and slap the ball away. Alessia gives you a very unimpressed look as you just shrug at her as if to say 'what?' Before she rolls her eyes and goes to get the ball.
For the next hour and a half the two of you became the entertainment for both your families as they watched Alessia fail to teach you football.
"No no no you're meant to pass with the inside of your foot!"
"Hit it with the laces"
"You have to have power behind the pass or else it won't make it that far….imagine it's Mr Wickerman…NOT THAT HARD!"
Eventually you flopped onto the ground as you fail to get the ball off the Russo and she gives you a particularly hard shoulder that sends you to the ground.
"Okay I think I'm done" you say as you curl up on the grass. "Just leave me here to die peacefully".
Alessia just rolls her eyes at your dramatics, "It wasn't that bad".
You barely lift your head to look at her before dropping it back down with a thump, "Oh yes it was".
Oh course it was then her brother's decided to join you as Luca messes with your hair and Giorgio sits on your stomach as you let out a grunt before pushing him off you. "No she's right, that was painful to watch".
"She wasn't that bad" Alessia tries although very weakly. It was obvious that anything athletic wasn't your strong suit.
"Up for a 2v2 then?" Luca suggest as he tosses the ball in his hands. "Gio and I versus you two?"
"But those teams aren't fair!" Alessia argues immediately to which you lift your head in offense.
"You said I wasn't that bad!"
She sends you a sorry smile, "Yeah I lied". You scoff but wave her off letting her know you were only messing. You were genuinely terrible. And you didn't know how Alessia lasted so long with you.
It wasn't long after that you were all called for dinner as you ate together. Although it seemed this time it blended much easier with both you and Alessia actually conversing. Unlike before where it would be a civil conversation now the two of you actually sat beside each other.
Only after Alessia had to wrestle Luca out of his regular seat beside you.
"But I always sit there!" Luca complains as Alessia smiles in victory over having successfully pushed him off the chair beside you.
"Not anymore" Alessia mocks as she sits happily in the chair as you giggle at the siblings.
"Mom!" Luca whines while Carol just shakes her head.
"Luca it's just a chair" Carol sighs but has a hint of a smile on her face. Clearly amused by her children's antics.
"But I always sit there!" Luca argues once more. He looks at you, "Tell them Sherlock!"
You shake your head at his nickname for you but hold up your hands declaring neutrality, "Sorry Watson".
He looks at you betrayed as Alessia wraps an arm around you pulling you into her slightly as she smirks smuggly up at her brother. "Sorry, looks like she has a new favorite Russo now".
Luca sighs sadly before he eventually takes his new seat beside his brother as he mopely eats his food.
Everything after that was fine apart from the few teasing comments thrown around.
It was later in the evening as you recovered from your evening of playing soccer and nursing your little food baby that Alessia suggested the two of you watch a movie.
You were playing on your phone as she dropped beside you on the couch. "Here" she says as she holds out a bowl for you.
You peek into the bowl, "What is it?"
"Skittles" Alessia answers simply before holding up her own bowl, "Don't worry I took out all the green ones".
You smiled softly at that. "You remembered?" You asked as you recall telling her in one of your study sessions that you loved Skittles but hated the green ones.
"Of course" she smiled at you before turning back to the TV, "I also remember you saying you love Harry Potter so which one are we going to watch?"
You smile softly before telling her your favorite one as she puts it on. You watch the film for a little while before Alessia moves beside you but your eyes remain locked on the screen. She calls your name and you hum showing that you're listening.
But when she doesn't say anything you look over at her to see her fiddling with her fingers. "Can I ask you something?" She asked quietly and albeit a bit nervously.
Seeing how nervous the girl was, you paused the movie and gave her your full attention. "Of course Less. You can ask me anything" you say as you take one of her hands and rub your thumb over her knuckles.
She watches how your thumb glides over her knuckles softly before she sighs. "What's up with you and Luca?"
You practically choke on air as your eyes widen at the thought. "What?"
But Alessia just shrugs as she looks at the paused screen showing a freeze frame of the golden trio. "It's just...at dinner. He seemed really upset that he didn't get to sit beside you. And you have those nicknames for each other...." she explains before trailing off.
You scrunch your face before shrugging, "I mean it's nothing? It's like he said. We always sit together. And he always calls me Sherlock just because he thinks I'm smart and help him with homework sometimes. So I just call him Watson in return".
She looks at you for a second longer before looking into your eyes, "So there's... nothing going on between you two?"
It takes a second for you to grasp what she's insinuating but once it finally clicks you gasp. "What! Wha? No! No no Less! It's not like that at all!" You almost gag at the thought, "God no!"
You shake your head, "No Less it's nothing like that. We just get along really well. God he's like a brother to me!"
Alessia laughs at how off put you are but the mere suggestion of the two of you dating but judging by the small blush on her face you can still tell she's slightly embarrassed by asking that now.
You take her hand and again give it a small squeeze paired with a smile, "Trust me Less. I will never date Luca. Ever". You give her a wink, "Like you said. I have a new favorite Russo after all".
She smiles brightly at the reassurance. Her head drops into your shoulder as you nuzzle into the back of her head. You stay like that a moment before the two of you decide to turn back to the movie. It's not long after the two of you are leaning up against each other discussing which Houses you would both be in.
It wasn't till later your mother came to tell you it was time to go home when both your mother and Carol found the two of you curled up together as Alessia had her arms wrapped around you as you were settled into her leaning your head against her shoulder.
~~~
Honestly you didn't wake up today expecting to be rugby tackled. Let alone by a soccer player of all people.
You had been at your locker gathering books for your next classes when you had heard rapid steps coming up to you. You didn't even have time to turn as there was suddenly arms around your waist and your lifted off the ground.
You let out a yelp as you drop your books clinging onto the arms around you in fear of being dropped. When you finally are put back on the ground, you turn ready to rip whoever had the audacity to touch you, but you quickly stop when you see Alessia smiling brightly at you.
"Less! What the hell is up with you?" You whisper shout at her as you brace yourself on her arms trying to ignore the small thought in your head as you realise her hands were still on your waist.
But she doesn't say anything. Instead she just pulls out a sheet of paper as she holds it up doing a small little dance on the spot. "I passed!" She cheered as she shows you proudly the 84% marked at the top of the test.
Your eyes widen before you smile. "Less! You didn't just pass, you aced it!" You beam as you smile up at her. "Gosh Less I knew you could do it!"
Alessia is practically bouncing on the spot in glee before launching herself at you once more this time in a hug. The embrace nearly sends you to the floor if not for you balancing the two of you against your locker.
Honestly you weren't used to much affection apart from hugs from your mom and occasionally Carol.
But since you started to become closer with Alessia you were slowly getting more comfortable with touch. Purely because Alessia was very touchy. The girl had an affinity for hugs and small touches.
But it wasn't even that you just got use to the touches.
It was how patient she was with you when she found out you just weren't use to unfamiliar touch. How she noticed the first time she hugged you, you froze up. Or the time she grabbed your hand you flinched away. She was starting to think it was her until you sheepishly smiled and told her you just weren't used to touch.
It was then how she would always check to see if it was okay first. Instead of grabbing your hand she would offer it first. How she would usually wait for you to make the first move for a hug or anything physical as to make sure you were comfortable.
She was patient with you until you grew okay with her touch. If you were being completely honest with yourself, you probably had started to like it a bit too much.
Like in this instance, where you can feel yourself sink into the hug. Liking how safe and warm you felt in her arms. While you usually cursed your height difference as it gave the Russo girl something to tease you about, it worked perfectly for hugs. As you slotted together perfectly with your head tucked right into her neck. With hers rest on the top of your crown. In her excitement she gave you a kiss on the top of your head.
But reality seemed to hit you all at once as you started to recognize the looks and whispers from your classmates.
You suppose it was an unusual sight to see the resident nerd with the school's soccer superstar and It girl.
You cleared your throat shifting slightly uncomfortable under people's stares but still gave Alessia a smile. The girl was so escatic that she didn't even notice.
"Seriously I couldn't have done it without you, I don't know how to thank you" Alessia said, grateful.
You couldn't help but soften at that as you momentarily forget about all the eyes on you. You shook your head lightly, "This was all you Less. You worked hard for this". You squeezed her forearm lightly, "You deserve this. I'm proud of you".
That seemed to turn the girl shy as she smiled with a light blush dusting her face. She cleared her throat before realizing your books were still laid on the floor.
She quickly picked them up for you as she slipped them back into your hands with a smile, "I better go I'm going to be late to class I just had to tell you about the test". "But I'll still see you later then yeah?" She quickly asks as you zip up your bag.
That made you raise a brow. "You still want to study together? But you passed?"
There was a subtle roll of her eyes but you ignored it. What you couldn't ignore was how she bit the bottom of her lip almost as if she tried to contain a smile. "Yeah but I still need to keep the grade up now don't I?" She teased making it your turn to roll your eyes.
She giggled but smiled at you, "Despite what you might believe I actually enjoy our study sessions now and would hate for them to stop".
She smirked, "Besides, our mothers like us hanging out. And I'd say they will have a fit if we went back to how things used to be. They enjoy using us as an excuse to hang out I think".
You let out a laugh with a nod agreeing with her.
She started backpedaling as she realized she was about to be late for class. "So I'll see you later?"
You nodded, "Yeah I'll see you later".
She smiled and turned making her way through the sea of people. You couldn't describe how you feeling as you watched her walk down the corridor.
It wasn't until your breathing hitched as she turned to look at you over her shoulder. Even though she was half away down the hallway you could still see her beautiful blue eyes paired with her perfect beaming smile.
It was only then you realized how fucked you were as you came to the realization.
You were being to fall for Alessia Russo.
Alessia, Y, Z, E 👀
Y- less’ sex drive is quite normal, however after a tough game or a loss she tends to be quite needy and wants you to fuck her out of her bad mood.
Z- Alessia falls asleep quite quickly after sex, especially if you’re cuddled up to her, she thrives of the skin-on-skin cuddles after you both have just had sex.
E- Lessi is more experienced with being a sub/bottom, however needless to say when she is on top she does a bloody good job of it.
Mothers
W.C.- 3k
Your mother didn’t plan on having you at the young age of 15, but after spending 9 months inside your mother you came out a perfectly healthy baby in the year 2000. She had the support of her parents, your grandparents, the second she told them she was expecting and they helped her raise you.
They took care of you while she was away in school and they helped drop you off at numerous football practices and games. You were there for your mothers graduation from secondary school when you were 3, and then later for when she got her undergraduate degree in nursing. When you were 16, she got her license and could officially begin her practice in the intensive care unit.
Nobody was prouder than you when she got it and you made sure that everybody knew that your mother, the one that had you at 15 had become a doctor.
Still, despite her intensive job she made sure to come and see you play at least once a month, to bring you to practice the days she wasn’t called in and to make sure that she told you that she loved no one like she loved you. When you started to play in the boys teams, ‘cause there weren’t enough girls who wanted to play in your town, she supported you. Everytime you came home with scraped up knees or a sprained wrist, she took care of you like a mother as she joked about you being her first ever patient with how clumsy you are.
When your grandmother died, you were nearly 17 and on the cusp of breaking into the senior national team after having outplayed some of the older players in the U23 camp and playing in the first team for your club. Now everything you did was to make her as proud as you could, her last wish was for you to make the senior teams both club and country. And so when you were 17 years old both her wishes came true when you got selected into the England Euros squad, where you actually got to play some minutes in the group stages and then in the closing minutes of the knockout matches. In the end you got a bronze medal and 2 goals in your resume as a substitute.
At 18 you signed with Arsenal and at 19 you were picked for the World cup squad with starting minutes. Unfortunately, an elbow to the face in the USA game had you sitting out the bronze medal match against Sweden, your eye socket and nose fractured. You had seen how worried your mother looked in the stands as you went down, not just from a mother’s point of view but also a doctors . It looked gruesome. But the worst part, you could do nothing as your team was losing.
But through the experience of the incredible loss you grew stronger, the will to win overwhelmed the little voice in your head telling you that it wasn’t possible or that you couldn’t do it. So you continued to train and get better, all while getting mentored by the Arsenal women and winning award after award along the way.
And now at 23, you’re one of the most accomplished youngsters in women’s football after having won the Euros and the subsequent golden boot. And now there was no one prouder than your mother and grandfather. You knew your grandma was watching over your every move and cheering you on from wherever you go when you die.
Winning the Fifa Women’s best player for the 21/22-season, beating out your teammate and the legendary Alexia Putellas had you shell shocked mouth hanging open like an idiot. But when you went up to accept the award, you credited your grandparents and your mother for your success before thanking your coaches. Now that trophy is located on a shelf at your mothers house like most of your other trophies, the only one that lays at home in your apartment is the medal you got for the Euros win.
People hadn’t really noticed your mother before the closing game against Bayern, where she had gotten a leave of absence from her workplace. She was the first one you went to, nearly collapsing into her arms at the sidelines before returning to your teammates to celebrate. Fortunately, the Arsenal media team managed to capture the sweet moment between the mother and daughter, later posting it to TikTok where they captioned it ‘Like mother like daughter’.
Unbeknownst to you, the video went completely viral with thousands of people simping over your mother. You were much too busy to spend unnecessary time on social media, so you had not seen the people obsessing over your mother or the ones asking if your father could fight. That was before you went on international break, excited to finally meet your girlfriend again after a few weeks of only being able to communicate over the phone.
—-
Stepping out of the taxi, you come face to face with St George’s Park once again. You stand still for a couple of seconds before walking in through the entrance, immediately seeing a member of the media team with their fist up. You spud them before continuing your walk to the front desk where the names of your roommates stood.
Your eyes flit over the paper before you find your name scribbled beside Alessia’s and you do a silly dance in your place, happy that you could cuddle with your girl after weeks apart.
An arm slinging around your shoulder has you coming to your senses, looking to your right you see your girlfriend standing there. You pull her in by the waist as you lean your cheek on top of her head just taking a moment to hug her and relish in her company before everything becomes hectic. What you don’t plan on is one of your bestfriends slamming into you and making all three of you fall to the ground. You hear Ella start to speak loudly in your ear but you can’t focus on anything she’s saying, not with Alessia laying on top of you, her body fitting like a puzzle piece to your own.
Slapping a hand over Ella’s gaping mouth you take a moment to relax in the silence, already knowing that this camp was going to be like hell if it continued like that. Alessia puts her hands on either side of your body before pushing herself up to her feet.
She reaches her hand out towards you but before you are able to grab it, Tooney has. Alessia starts the motion of pulling her up, but as she shoots you a wink you know exactly what would occur. Alessia loosens her grip on Ella's hand before she has time to react, dropping her on her arse. The lobby explodes with laughter before you pull yourself up, walking up to your room before going to sleep as soon as your head hits the pillow, Alessia joining you after a short time.
The next few days pass unnecessarily fast and before you know it you’re lining up next to Brazil, ready for the first ever women’s Finalissima. You dominated the first half going into halftime 1-0 up, and with your versatility giving you the ability to drive up the field and create chances while being able to also drop back down and help defend.
In the next half it seems like Brazil has woken up from their stupe and they start pressing in a way that has your defense scrambling and you realize that if you want to prevent Brazil from scoring you will have to help out more at the farther end of the field.
When the ball leaves the Brazilian players' feet, you know it is going into the goal and you can only pray for their penalties to not follow the same path.
You find yourself in an incredibly stressful situation as possibly the last penalty taker, it all depended on whether the ball hits the back of the net or not. Feeling strong hands place themselves on your back and a soft whisper of “You’ve got this” from your girlfriend has all your nerves washing away and your senses clear, the only focus on putting the ball in the back of the net.
Looking towards the crowd, you try to spot your mother and grandfather. When you catch sight of them you gain even more confidence as most people in the stadium couldn’t look on, your family just looked on with smirks and knowing looks on their faces.
You place the ball in the penalty spot, completely relaxed and calm despite having run around the pitch for a full 90 minutes plus stoppage time. The goalkeeper tries to distract you, jumping around and pointing at different parts of the net but you see the obvious dread in her face. You’re known for absolutely slamming the ball into the goal with an uncanny precision, especially penalties.
Kissing your fingers before pressing them into the shield resting above your heart, you start your runup. As you strike the ball with a power entirely your own you can feel how it’s going to hit the back of the net, it’s a feeling you’ve experienced many times before so many times that it’s become a staple of your matches.
The roaring of the fans confirm your thoughts and start running around the pitch all while expressing your delight through a loud yell echoing loud over the fans. Soon enough your teammates catch up to you and trap you in a tight embrace that you have no intention of escaping. As they start to depart from the team hug, Alessia and you remain in a tight embrace, covering your mouths when you speak to each other.
Whispers of ‘I love you so much’ and ‘I am so proud of you’ are exchanged before you are interrupted by a staff member informing you that the medal ceremony would take place in a short bit. You go and stand with your team as the shimmering medals are placed around your necks, walking towards the podium set up for you with a smile that could light up the entirety of Wembley.
Watching as Leah and Mary lift the trophy high above their heads has you feeling an immense sense of pride and joy. Proud to be part of this record breaking team.
As soon as you’re done with taking all the pictures needed featuring your medal, you’re off heading in the direction of your mother. Noticing the smile on her face, the one you inherited, has your feet moving faster in her direction. You grip the medal between sweaty fingers and pull it off, putting it around your mother’s neck.
“You’re the real champion here Ma. Thank you so much for being here today and supporting me, I love you” She replies with her own ‘I love you’, putting her fists up and doing your own celebration you made with her as a child by putting your own up and kissing them before double fistbumping her.
Staying with your family for a little longer, you depart from them to go and celebrate with your team. You barely reach your girlfriend before you’re whisked away for an interview with the broadcasting.
Putting on the headset and taking the mic from the staff, you hear the recognisable voice of Alex Scott flooding through your headphones.
“-And now we’re joined by the Euros and Finalissima winner, Y/n Y/l/n. How are you feeling after winning yet another trophy? I imagine you must feel quite ecstatic.”
“Spot on Alex, but yeah I am in disbelief honestly. Brazil were in form today and were incredible opponents. Yeah so this is an accomplishment we’re fortunate enough to experience.”
You spend the next few minutes speaking to the former player, talking about a large range of things before the topic of your mother comes up.
“I saw you were giving your medal to your mother earlier, is that something you always do?” Alex questions you.
“I usually give her all my medals and awards because I don’t have the space for them at my apartment. I've given her all but the Euros trophies as those are on a shelf in my bedroom. A reminder that I can do anything I set my mind to.” Your mother had always been the safekeep of your trophies, even as you reached adulthood she took care of them for you.
“Speaking of your mother, have you seen the comments circulating?”
Clear confusion lays over your face like a blanket, no clue about these ‘comments’ apparently regarding your mother.
“Comments? What comments?”
“You haven’t heard?! Oh boy you’re in for a ride.”
You can feel how whatever’s going to come out of her mouth next won’t be something you will enjoy hearing.
“Before you start, I feel like I won’t enjoy what you’ll say so before you continue I’ll need my emotional support human. Just a second.”
Sticking your fingers in your mouth and blowing, you let out a deafening wolf whistle loud enough to catch Alessia’s attention.
As Alessia turns towards you with her big blue doe eyes, you can’t help but practically melt under her affectionate gaze. Realizing that you are still on national television, you quickly wave her over.
When she stands beside you, the arm hanging by your side instinctively wraps around her waist in a protective grip. The same staff member that gave you your headphones hands Alessia a pair to be able to understand.
“Okay, so now that my emotional support human is here you are allowed to continue.”
Alessia smiles at the cheeky comment, the smile soon turning into a confused frown, not knowing the subject of conversation.
“I can see how you’re a bit confused there Alessia, so I’ll catch you up to speed. I was just asking Y/n if she had seen the comments under the Arsenal post, to which she said she hadn’t so I’m telling you both now.”
Judging by the mortified expression that crosses Alessia’s face you deduce that she most definitely knows exactly what comments Alex is talking about. You send her a skeptical look before telling Alex to start telling you about the comments.
“Arsenal posted a TikTok after the game against Bayern of you hugging your mother over the barrier. That video has gone viral, with thousands of people ‘simping’ over her in the comments.”
Even without hearing these comments you’re horrified, people hitting on your mother or thinking she was attractive wasn’t something new. It came with having a young mother but you’d never really been too bothered by them before. But now, knowing that thousands of people have the hots for your mother makes you want to crawl into bed and stay there until your last breath.
“Really?! My mother? That’s so weird on so many different levels bro…that’s just so weird and frankly quite gross. Don’t get me wrong, my mother is an incredible person, but knowing that thousands of people think that your mother is attractive is really unsettling. Now I’m curious about what they’ve said.”
Alessia nods along to your statement, knowing how much you struggled with seeing people on the internet thirsting for her and to now have people thirsting over your mom would make it worse.
“Ready? Okay, ‘Who was supposed to tell me that Y/n Y/l/n’s mom was such a MILF?’” Alex’s reading leaves you dry heaving as you quickly realize your mistake of wanting to hear the comments. Alessia pats your back in a ploy to comfort you all while holding back a giggle at your vivid reaction.
Continuing her assault on your ears, Alex recounts many different comments surrounding your mother and you have an equally vivid reaction to each one. Alessia keeps on rubbing your back in circles, though she can’t hold her laugh back anymore, the brilliant sound your only savior from the extreme embarrassment of the situation. Social media is already flooding with new memes of your reactions and you know that you’re going to be memed for the rest of your lifetime.
“Stop, stop! I tap out! No more. I love you Alex, but enough. Thank you for the interview, I’ll see you soon.”
You remove the headphones from your head and hand them and the microphone back to the staff before making your way back to the locker room, where it seems like people have already gotten a hold of the memes. Even Arsenal’s official page has plastered your reaction all over their social media.
When Alessia and you go and visit your mother a few weeks later, they’re both amused to realize your inability to look her in the eyes. Their apparent shared love for tormenting you makes your life a living hell over the next few hours and as you settle in your car to drive home you tell her,
“You’re sleeping on the couch tonight.”
“No I’m not” She replies through a smug smirk.
“Yeah you are”
“Unless you don’t want to sleep tonight I’m sleeping in our bed”
You hate how well she knows you and your sleeping habits while she’s near. Your only response is a huff and Alessia knows that she’s won this time. You let her think that for a little before sneaking your hand onto her thigh as you keep on driving, paying little attention to her. When you feel goosebumps rising under your hand and see her shiver out of the corner of your eye, you know that you’re the true winner.
I kind of hate this, but it’s pretty funny so it’s what you get, and I would usually put a read more thingy on longer docs like these but I can’t figure out how you do it on mobile
Like I'm Gonna Loose You - Alessia Russo x Reader
that's a little longer, I hope you enjoy!
+4k of words, not readproof, against with happy end, mentions of homophobia!
.
Football was your first love, your first memory was of you and your father playing together. So you went to college to play and try being a pro. And that’s when you met the true love of your life, the one that were even bigger that your love for football. And that was a girl, your girl. Your Lessi.
At first it was you, Lotte and Alessia. You all soon developing a friendship and becoming inseparable, the three of you coming from England so it made sense that you all would feel less home sick. Then you started to be more soft with Alessia, you weren’t able to say “no” to her. It all started in your last season at the college. You couldn’t stand there seeing all the boys and girls all over her. You didn’t even know you’re gay. It was just so much for you. You never having done a relationship before, why? Well, a guy never interested you but you thought it was because you were too focused on football. Guess you were wrong.
You started to do everything you could to spend more time with her and she never said “no” to you too. It was like she could know what you were thinking, always doing everything you wanted when you don’t even told her anything.
One day you were on the bus to play na away game, Alessia sitting by your side, you sharing your headphones with her. That’s when everything changed forever between you.
“Let do a playlist together, just for us to hear. What do you think?” She asks you, already taking her phone out of her pocket.
“Us. ❤” That was the name of the playlist. You were used to Alessia being soft with you, but this was too much for you to not think that maybe, just maybe, she had fallen for you too. Especially when she started to add songs to it.
“All of me” – John Legend
“Never be Alone” – Shawn Mendes
“Give Me Love” – Ed Sheeran
“Little Things” – One Direction
“Ruin The Friendship” – Demi Lovato
“Perfect” – Ed Sheeran
You looked at her face... God, how could someone be so beautiful?
“Don’t look at me like that.” She tells you, bringing you out of your daydream. When you understand what she had said you frown.
“Like what?”
“Like you feel the same. Like I’m your everything.” She speaks quietly so no one else could hear. You really didn’t know what to say. Your first love was saying she felt the same. Your first love who was also your best friend.
“I...” When she looks away you grab her hand. “I’m in love with you. I mean, I have never felt this before but you makes me feel like I don’t need anything else with I have you here with me. And I think you are the most beautiful girl I have ever seen and you... God... I don’t know Lessi, I didn’t know I’m into girls until you happened but I’m totally fine with that, because you made me see that there’s no mistake to love someone. When I’m the one making you smile I feel the same way when I score a goal, my heart goes crazy and...” She stops you by pushing her lips into yours.
And that’s how everything started. It was nothing like the movies, you both telling your feelings in the back of a bus, nothing romantic at all, but it was you and you couldn’t love it more. That was the best time of your life, you couldn’t be more happier. Then, be the end of the year when you went home for holidays you decided that you were coming out to your parentes. You knew Alessia was yours forever, so you knew you needed to do it. You were done not been able to post about her on social media Simply because your parents didn’t know.
So, one day right before Christmas Eve you called your parentes to the living room, ready to tell them you were gay and were dating the love of your life. And so you did, but it was nothing like you hoped. They didn’t like the idea of you being gay. You simply didn’t know what to do.
You loved your family, they were your everything, always having your back but now they couldn’t be happy for you. Your mom even said:
“You can’t do thay, Y/N! Jesus gave you to me, you can’t do that! I won’t let you.” She screams while crying at you.
Then it was hell to you. You were hurt, so much. You really wanted to be with Alessia, but you knew she didn’t desserves to be on that mess. You won’t let her be, never. It was all too much.
“We can fix you, no, we WILL fix you.” Your father said before going to bed.
“I regret being your mom. I regret ever wanting to have you.” It all was too much.
You didn’t have the strength to talk to Alessia, so you declined every call and never texted back. You couldn’t. They did got in your head. Were you wrong? But how could it be so wrong? When Alessia made you the more happiest you had ever been. When you truly loved her?
You don’t know why you stayed at your parent’s house, you really don’t. But you were like shit, not leaving your room to avoid see any of them. Only leaving to eat but always at some time you knew they wouldn’t see you. And you couldn’t eat properly.
It was in January 7th when you got a call from Barcelona, they wanted you. Soon you after you got a call from Lotte too, Alessia told her of you behaviour or, the lack of it. To the blonde, it was like you just erased from her life, she was too much hurt. She even thought to go see you, but if you weren’t even texting her... So she just accepted it. You may have meet someone better. Someone who could make you more happy. That’s what she thought.
You din’t say anything to Lotte, not while staying in your parent’s house. But you tell her about Barcelona. And you tell her you’re moving as soon as possible. She could sense something was wrong, really wrong. You weren’t your usual self. Your voice was emontionless, even while talking about Barca.
.
When you moved out of your parentes house, you were still not in a good place. But you told Lotte everything, you told her you were ashamed of yourself, that you really loved Alessia and that’s why you couldn’t do that to her. You didn’t want her to be with someone who wasn’t worth it her love. Suddenly you didn’t loved yourself anymore and that’s was a lot. How could still treat Alessia the way she deserved to be treated when you couldn’t even treat yourself right anymore?
You couldn’t see her and texting wasn’t aan option so you wrote a letter and asked Lotte to give it to her, you felt like she was the only person left on your life. You have pushed away everyone. And when Lotte left to England again, she had a mission to give it to Lessi and stay with her until she was sure she was okay.
.
“Hi Lessi... First of all, I’m so sorry. I really am. I didn’t know how else I could do this. So I’m writing this now... Anyway, I hope you don’t hate me... I could never hate you, I think I’ll always love you. And I hate myself for hurting you and letting you in the dark for so long. I’m so sorry for not being enough, you deserve so much better. I did everything to not put you into this mess. And that’s why I’m doing it... That’s why I’m ending things... Beucase you deserve better, you deserve someone who can treat you like you are the most incredible person in the world (because you are). I hope I can be your friend some day... I hope I can see your smile in person again, or hug you... Yours hugs always made me feel better. I... Just don’t forget ever that I really love you, okay? I’m just so much hurt right now that I can’t be in a relationship... Lotte will tell everything you want to know. I wish you all the best, my love.
Always yours, Y/N.”
Alessia was hurt, but after reading your letter and, after she stopped crying, having Lotte to tell everything that happened and how you were, she didn’t know what she really was feeling but lost was a really close guess.
“I wish she would let me help her out, I wish she could be still here with me, Lotte.” She cried again on the brunette’s shoulder.
True to her word, Lotte only left Alessia’s house when she needed to present herself at Arsenal and before that she made sure the blonde would that care of herself.
.
It took you two years to rebuild yourself, for you to love yourself, to know that there was no wrong for loving another woman. You did therapy every week since Lotte left your new home. You also didn’t talk that much anymore with your parents. Not having been to their house again, it held too many bad memories.
But you also didn’t see Alessia again, not in person at least. But you always kept an eye on her, by social medias and even watching her games when you were free.
Barcelona become your home, Alexia Putellas and Mapi Leon become your best friends too. They helped you a lot, they were the only ones on the team who knew of everything that had happened with your parents and Alessia. So they always kept you in their hold, and you were grateful for that.
It took three years for you to meet Alessia again, it being on camp for the Lionesses. When you got the call, you were very excited but then you realised you would have to meet Alessia again and that made you almost throw up out of fear. At first, when you arrived at the hotel, there was just Lotte and Beth waiting for you, the others being at their rooms.
“Y/N!” Beth hugs you. “I’m so happy that we can finally play together.”
.
“I missed this, you know... I mean, us being roommates and playing together.” You tell Lotte, after greeting Beth, make a small talk and then go to yours and Lottes room.
“I missed it too. You could always come and play for Arsenal, I know they have been wanting you for a long time.” You sigh at her words and she sits in her bed. “You can’t run away from her forever.”
“I know.” You sit and look at her with a frown. “I know I can’t run away. Fuck, I know she’s here and it makes me want to throw up. What if she hates me?” You put your hands in your face and Lotte comes to your side, passing her arm over your shoulders.
“She doesn’t hate you. I think you should talk to her, it’s been a long time.” You turn to her.
“I don’t know...” You can feel the tears running down your cheeks and your best friend take you in her arms.
“I think I still love her, Lotte.” She tights you in her arms.
“It’s okay, let it all out. I’m here with you. I got you.” And with that you cry in her arms until you fall asleep, exhaustion taking the best of you.
.
The next morning when you wake up, you’re still in your friend’s arms. You get up and get ready to have breakfast. When you get there, you see Leah, Beth, Keira, Georgia and Lucy at one table, so you grab your food and go sit with them.
Your mind was a mess, you wanted to see Alessia but you couldn’t handle the hurt or the hate in her eyes when she looked in your eye, so when you saw she wasn’t there yet you knew that maybe she was avoiding see you.
“She always comes with Ella.” Beth says after seeing the look on your face. “And Ella’s always late.” You just nod and starting eating, not daring to say anything out loud.
After eating, you decided to go to the meeting room, where Sarina would do the official first talk to everything. You found a seat in the middle of the room and grab your phone to go through social medias.
.
It’s only by the end of the meeting that you actually lay eyes on Alessia, having been too focused on what Sarina was saying to notice how Alessia sat on the back of the room or how Ella (who was a really loud person) was silenty and awful worried about her best friend.
When you look at her way you notice she’s already looking at you, you could see everything in her eyes, all the good and bad memories. You feel a shiver run down your neck, making you look at your feets. It’s Lotte’s hand on your back that makes you walk out of the room with you not daring to look up again, too afraid to see her so close or see the hate in her eyes.
.
The first time you talk with her was on 11x11 at practice, you were playing against her.
You were running with the ball, having passed every defender and beeing left only with Mary to deal with. But then, suddenly you felt someone tackling you from behind and an huge pain on your right ankle.
“What the fuck, Ella?!” You could hear Alessia’s voice but you didn’t see her. You were holding your ankle and with your face on the ground, trying to hide the tears in yours eyes.
“I’m sorry I didn’t-“ The blonde forward didn’t give her the chance to say nothing more, coming to you in fast speed.
“Hey, angel. Can you turn around?” You can feel her hand on your back.
“It hurts so much, Lessi...” You groan quietly to her but manage to turn around as she asked. No one of your teammates daring to come closer and end whatever was happening. Alessia took a deep breath after hearing you calling by her nick name, it wasn’t the right time.
“I know it does, but I’m here with you. I won’t leave your side until you’re alright, okay?” She wipes your tears with the back of her hand and you finally open your eyes to look at her. Seeing Alessia so close and so worried about you made you forget about the pain momentarily.
You are forced to look away from her when the medical team comes to check on you. “Can you walk?” One of them asks you after doing the first check on your ankle.
“Yeah, I think so.” With that, Alessia helps you putting her arm around your waist and yours around her shoulder. You manage to go to the physio room with her help (she was almost carring you in her arms ‘cause you were putting all your weigh on her).
.
True to her words, Alessia haven’t left your side and even when you were sent to the hospital to check if there was any major issues, she still went with you. You both didn’t talk about your past or about any feelings at all. You didn’t have time neither space, there was always somebody else with you. Plus, all Alessia wanted at the moment was for you to be okay. When she saw you going down and crying yourself out of pain, she felt all again. Everything she so desesperately tried to bury at the bottom of her heart. She knew she would probably regret it later, but now she couldn’t care less.
So when the doctors said it wasn’t as bad as it looked to be, and that you only needed to rest for 3 days she was relieved. And the blonde, herself made a promise to the doctor applying that she would that care of you and wouldn’t let you do anything stupid. You could only hope it was true, the thinking of her being with you sounding like yet a dream for you.
.
When you got back to the hotel, she walks you to your room.
“So...” She starts saying but you cut her off.
“I miss you.” She gasps at your sudden confession and you take it was a bad signal and give her a sad smile. “Thank you for today, you really didn’t need to do all this...”
“It’s okay, I wanted to.” She gives you a small smile. “Can I – “ She pauses for a moment, like she’s thinking of what to say. “Can I hug you?” She finally asks, for all day she was close to you, touching you (because she knew physical touch helped you in any ways) and yet here she is, asking you if she could give you a hug.
“Always.” You whisper and open your arms, she wastes no time and puts her arms around your waist, hidding her face on your neck. You put your arms around her neck and your face at the top of her head, you take this moment to smell her hair again. It felt like home.
“I’m sorry about everything, please forgive me.” You say quietly to her, your eyes closed so that you could enjoy the moment. You wanted to remember it forever.
“It wasn’t your fault.” She gives your neck a little kiss before pulling away reluctantly. You felt a single tear come down your cheek, and she wipes it carefully.
“You need some rest, I should go now.” She take a step back.
“Okay.” You give her another small smile and put your key card on the door, when you’re about to open it she calls you again.
“Y/N! I miss you too.” It’s all she says before disappear into the elevator.
.
You wake up in the next day with Lotte getting ready for practice. She haven’t asked you anything, knowing that you would open up when you’re ready.
“I’ll go with you to have breakfast, then I’ll go to the pyshio.” You say to her after getting ready too.
.
You’re in the pyshio putting some ice on your ankle when Ella comes into the room with your favorite flower in hands.
“Hey, Y/N... I’m sorry about your ankle I really didn’t mean to. I was just so stressed about this whole you and Alessia thing th-” She stops herself, realising she was talking too much. “Err, this is for you.” She hands the sunflower to you.
“Thank you so much. And you don’t have to apologize, it’s okay.” You take the sunflower of her hand. “How did you know it was my favorite?” You smile looking at it.
“Oh, I got some advice.” You look at her with a small smile forming in your lips. “You should talk to her. If you love her and promise me to not break her heart again I can help you.”
“I really do love her, I never stoped. I never wanted to break her heart...” You look around, putting your thoughts in place. “I promise that, if I ever have her love again, I won’t ever break her heart. Not again.” You look into her eyes so she could know you were being true in your words.
“Okay.” It all she says. You frown.
“Okay?”
“Yes. When you finish this, come to my room. Here, take my keycard.” She gives it to you. “She’s almost finishing her gym session. Then, I’ll text her to come to our room but it will be you there, not me!” She says simply, gives you a little kiss on the head and exits the room. But then after a few seconds she enters the room again.
“And don’t make me hate you again or next time I will go for you knee! Text me when you’re done so I can know when text her.” Then she lefts again. You look at the door in completely shock.
“What the fuck.” You mumble to yourself.
.
10 minutes later you’re done in the physio, so you text Ella on Instagram to let her know you’re going her room now. On your way there, you think what you’re going to say to her but you know that at the moment you see her you’ll forget everything. You have wanted to do this so many times during these 3 years you spent apart but you didn’t know if she would like to even see you again. When you get out of your own head you notice you’re already at the door of her room.
When you get into the room you see wich is Alessia’s bed and you put the sunflower Ella gave you in the middle of it. The memorie of her loving sunflower just as much as you loved and it becoming your flower and yours only. Everytime one of you passed by a flowershop you got one for the other. It was a silent way of saying ‘I love you’.
It takes another 15 minutes for Alessia to come to the room, you were by the window the moment she comes in. At first she doesn’t notice you and you could tell the first thing she saw was the sunflower at her bed.
“Toone I told you to give it to Y/N and apologize for almost breaking her ankle, why did you-“
“She already did.” You stop her and she finally see you, you can see she’s surprised. She takes a moment, then grab the sunflower from her bed and looks at it with pain in her eyes.
“Don’t you like it anymore? I’m sorry I-” You cut her off again.
“I love it, reminds me of you. Can we sit and talk? Only if you want to... I mean, I don’t want to do nothing you wouldn’t be confortable and if you want me to go I’ll, there wouldn’t be a problem...” She raises her hand so you can stop.
“It’s okay, don’t worry...” She takes a deep breath and you do the same, looking at your hands.
“Okay...” You say more to yourself, trying to have some courage. “First, I wanted to say I’m sorry for how things ended. I know I wasn’t in a good place and I know I could have let you choose if you wanted to stay or go but you have to know I did this because you don’t deserve to be with someone who’s broke. All I ever wanted was for you to be happy and I knew I couldn’t make you happy that time. It took me two years to be over what my parentes did to me but three years isn’t enough to get over you. I want you to know that there isn’t a day I don’t regret ever letting you go. You was- No, you are the best thing that ever happened to me I think I’ll love you forever, even if I have another life I’ll still love you.” You haven’t notice when but she’s close to you know, so close you can feel her smell. You look into her eyes, her ocean eyes that right now are full of tears and it’s enough to make you cry too.
“And you were never alone, never. I kept an eye on you, even from afar. I’m so proud of who you have became... You’re an amazing person, Alessia. You’re an incredible player too. And you’re even more beautiful...” You wipe her tears away and when she leans on your touch, you leave your hand on her cheek. “Everytime I passed by a flowershop I still had a sunflower, even if I didn’t have you anymore to give it to. I liked to buy and bring it home because for me it’s like a little piece of you. It’s unique and it’s one of the most beautiful things I ever saw.”
She gots even closer to you and put her forehead on yours, you close your eyes when she cups your cheek. You heart beating faster than it ever had.
“You have to promise me you’ll never let me in the dark again. Please, I beg you. You have to promise me you’ll never leave of my life without saying anything anymore. God, Y/N I wish I could ever hate you for breaking my heart.” You both fully crying now. “I wish you weren’t the only one who could put all the peaces together again.”
“I’m so sorry.” You put your arms around her and you both stay like that. Your body and foreheads together, Alessia’s hands of your cheeks and your arms around her.
“If we are trying this again, trying us again it has to be slowly. I’m scared. I love you but I’m hurt and afraid and you need to show me you’re not going to run away from me anymore.” She wipes your tears again.
“I wouldn’t dare to loose you twice. I’m in for real, I’m all yours. If you want to try us again, we’ll do it step be step. And I’ll love you in every one of them. Please Lessi, let me make this right.” You grab her hands and look into her eyes.
“Okay.” She whispers.
“Can I kiss you?” You say quietly and she answer you by putting her lips on yours softly.
You'll do everything you can to make her feel safe with you again.
Alessia, "I didn't cheat on you, it was just a dream babe!", mad alessia at training
disloyal dreams II a.russo
"-are you going to be like this all day?" you sighed as you tried to start a conversation with the blonde beside you who shrugged, again refusing to give you any sort of verbal response.
"alessia. the silent treatment, really?" you repeated, eyes burning into the side of her head as she shrugged and you dragged your hands down your face exhaling heavily.
"i thought we were good at communication. we've been together for a year and a half!" you reminded, alessia dead silent as her fingers drummed against the steering wheel and she came to a stop at a red light.
"less, babe will you just tell me what i've done wrong? i can't fix it if i don't know what i did!" you groaned frustrated, the blonde only leaning forward and turning up the stereo louder making you wince.
"fine, be like this then." you grumbled with a shake of your head, crossing your arms and staring out the window, knowing her well enough that the striker when warranted could be incredibly stubborn.
though the problem you were having today is you weren't even sure where this grudge she had against you was coming from. you'd gone to bed and things were all fine and normal, the pair of you ordering in and falling asleep cuddled up together watching a movie in the living room as you often did.
you'd woken up first, slowly shaking the taller girl on top of you until she did too and the two of you had stumbled tiredly to bed. her long limbs entrapping you in her hold the moment your backs hit the mattress, eyes heavy and a few sleepy kisses exchanged, all seemed fine.
but then this morning you'd woken up to an empty bed, frowning right away as alessia was almost never the first one awake between you.
in fact over the time you'd been together even before you'd moved in with her whenever you slept over at alessia's you'd learned to set your alarm a half an hour earlier than either of you had to be up because it took that long to coax the sleepy blonde to actually get up.
your confusion only grew further when a quick search of the house showed it to be empty, your calls out for your girlfriend going unanswered both vocal and on the phone, a sense of worry beginning to settle in.
however right before it really hit its peak you heard keys in the front door, racing down the stairs and breathing out in relief when she stepped inside, body coated in a thin sheen of sweat and hair pulled back into a bun.
you tried to speak to her and draw her into a hug, mumbling ut you'd been worried sick and asking why she hadn't at least left a note or sent a text but all you got was a shrug and a grumble she needed a shower.
ever since then the most your girlfriend had said was maybe three words, the rest of her responses all grunts or hums as at first you thought maybe she hadn't slept well and was just tired.
though then it started to feel a lot more personal and as much as you'd asked and asked and asked, she wouldn't tell you just why she was so seemingly upset with you or what you'd done to earn such a stubborn silence.
pulling into the training grounds you tried again to ask if the two of you could talk, trying to angle that it wasn't healthy to go into training if she was in a bad head space but all that resulted in was a door closed in your face and a rap of her knuckles against your window a moment later, wordlessly telling you to hurry up.
despite the fact alessia could be one of the most sweet, kind and downright lovely human beings you'd ever had the pleasure to know let alone fall in love with, she still had her share of off day but normally she was quite good at hiding them from your teammates.
today however she didn't seem to care in the slightest, making no move to disguise the fact she wasn't talking to you and clearly was in a mood, the tension thick and uncomfortable as you stared at her longingly across the change rooms.
"mate. what did you do to that poor girl?" leah flopped herself down in her own cubby beside you as you sighed, alessia not even sparing you a glance as she laced her boots up and stormed out, ignoring both emily and lotte who tried to stop and speak with her clearly sensing she wasn't okay.
"nothing! well at least not that i can work out? i've been given the silent treatment all morning." you huffed with a roll of your eyes, wrestling to undo the tight knots in your boots and sending kyra a venemous glare across the room who was clearly the culprit.
but sensing maybe today was not the day to have pushed your buttons the australian was quick to shrink beneath your murderous stare, taking off out of the room within seconds flat.
"give it here." leah chuckled, having already undone your other boot as you shoved it at her and sunk down into your seat, stroppy look on your face and mouth turned downward into a sour pout.
"did you have an argument?" "no." "did you not do something you said you would?" "I don't think so?" "did you forget an anniversary? birthday? special date?" "definitely not." "did you..." leah trailed off, clearly trying to think of something to say.
"nah i've got nothing. good luck sunshine!" the blonde shrugged, pinching your cheek and handing you the now untangled boot. "leah!" you groaned, hoping for the older girl to at least have had perhaps some wisdom to offer.
throughout the day your confusion only grew when the stony silence continued, the two of you at least kept mostly separate for the majority of training, having grown embarrassed now by your shut down attempts to talk to alessia.
thankfully bar a few ill timed comments from some of your younger peers who hadn't yet learnt how to read a room everyone backed off the teasing you'd been worried about, most of them just as confused as you by the air of frustration and irritation radiating off the blonde striker.
"fucking hell less!" leah swore, barely able to duck out of the way of a poorly timed but incredibly powerful strike which rocketed past her ear and swooshed into the back of the goal.
you however were not so lucky, admittedly quite out of it most of the session as your brain ticked over and you overthought every little action and interaction you'd had with the blonde in the last twenty four hours.
it was this distraction which caused you to have zoned out on the sidelines, staring off into space and triple checking in your head every significant event and date to try and work out just why your girlfriend was so clearly off with you.
but you were grounded right back into reality when suddenly something hit you very hard and very fast right in the face, the unexpected ball knocking you on your ass as you felt something wet drip down your face and you started to feel a little woozy.
you watched as both your teammates and some of the staff crowded around you, seeing their mouths moving but unable to decipher what was being said due to the obnoxious ringing in your head.
the medics eventually arrived, shooing everyone away to give you some space and a collective slightly disgusted groan sounded as suddenly you lurched forward and emptied the contents of your breakfast onto the grass beside you.
you winced as a bright light was shone right in your eyes, trying to bat away the hand responsible as someone else grabbed your wrists and stopped you.
blinking a few times as finally the light went away and your hearing returned right in time to hear one word before you were helped to your feet and walked off the pitch.
concussion.
you sighed heavily but nodded as you laid down on one of the padded benches in the medic office, the lights dim and one of the trainee's running you through the concussion protocol you knew like the back of your hand.
with a heavy sigh you felt him squeeze your knee in a silent apology before ducking out to grab some paperwork, an incident report needing to be done as you covered your face with your hands and felt your heartbeat thump in your ears.
when you heard the door open again you assumed he'd returned and you might be cleared to leave, but to your surprise when you looked up there was a different person now looking down on you, your bag slung over her shoulder and car keys in hand.
you didn't expect her to say anything and you didn't have it in you for an argument, so with a grunt you pulled yourself into a seated position, her hands quick to steady you and you hated how good it felt to feel her touch even in such a minimal way.
"you cheated on me."
your head snapped up so fast you felt your neck throb and the headache settling behind your eyes pulse as you sat in a state of shock, sure you'd just heard her incorrectly.
"i-what?" you managed to croak out, the blonde fiddling with the strap of the bag as she nodded. "you cheated on me." she repeated and just like earlier you felt a horrendous sense of nausea settle in.
"i think i'm going to be sick." you began to panic, bile rising in your throat as you looked around desperately for a sick bag of some sort as alessia's hands settled on your cheeks and you tensed up.
"you cheated on me last night." she repeated in a tone so soft you almost didn't hear her, incredibly confused and now wondering just how hard you'd hit your head as you blinked.
"alessia. what? i-baby i would never ever chea-" you couldn't even get the words out until the blonde shook her head, one of her hands coming to cover your mouth, an odd look of guilt now present on her face which had you even more confused.
"in my dream, last night. you cheated on me in my dream, that's why i've been so off with you today..." the blonde bit her bottom lip with a wince as you paused, slowly moving her hands off of you as she shifted nervously.
"i didn't cheat on you." "no." "but you thought i did?" "kind of? i know it was a dream, but it felt really real!"
"alessia..." you trailed off in disbelief, the trainee from earlier taking one step inside as the pair of you looked at him and clearly sensing he might have been interrupting he quickly ducked back out of the room with a mumble you were free to go.
"i still think you should say sorry." the blonde seemed to regain her confidence as your jaw dropped and you looked at her in bewilderment. "for what?" you squeaked out, alessia sighing and shaking her head.
"for cheating on me." "i didn't cheat on you? it was just a dream babe!" you threw your hands up with a scoff and hissed, your head throbbing as your eyes squeezed shut.
"okay. well since you have a concussion, i'll forgive you anyway." alessia decided, stepping forward to stand in between your legs and giving you a smile as if she'd just done you a favour.
"you'll forgive me?" "yes. now baby we should really get you home, i've got your concussion plan and you have to come in tomorrow for a re-assessment." alessia nodded, patting your bag and holding our a hand to help you up as you stared at her with narrowed eyes.
"you'll forgive me. for ignoring me all day and making me feel like i've done the wrong thing? like i'm the the crazy one?" you stuttered out still in shock that this was the reason for her cold shoulder and off put behavior.
"hey! you can't use that." alessia snatched your phone out of your hand and slid it into your bag with a tut. "i need it." you held your hand out expectantly and rolled your eyes as your girlfriend had the audacity to laugh.
"for what?" she questioned as you smacked away her attempted helping hands and she frowned.
"because i need to write a note." "a note?" "yes alessia. a note that when my head isn't absolutely throbbing i am going to yell at you and then give you the silent treatment all day!"
"what! baby why? you cheated on me, and i forgave you?" "i cannot control my actions in a dream alessia, and so i didn't cheat on you!" "baby you shouldn't get so worked up, you'll make your headache worse." "dating you is a headache russo." "...so is now a bad time to ask for that apology?" "it was a dream alessia!"
woso masterlist
It was around half eleven in the morning, the gentle sound of the radio and the boiling of the kettle filled the silence of the kitchen. You stood, humming quietly, swaying side to side as you waited for the kettle to come to a boil.
Alessia was still fast asleep, her mind reminiscing the soft tender touches the two of you shared last night. Whilst she slept, you thought to make her breakfast in bed. A plate of pancakes and fruit were to the side of you as you made her some tea.
Today was Valentine's day. A day you wanted to make extra special for her. The two of you had been together for nearly three years, having met during an England call up the both of you had been inseparable since.
Once everything was prepared, you placed it all on a tray and carefully made your way back into your shared bedroom. Pushing the door open gently with your foot, you were met with Alessia’s back, the blonde having rolled over in the time you were downstairs.
Placing the breakfast on Alessia’s bedside table, you sat yourself down by her side and tenderly brushed a loose strand of hair that fell over her eyes behind her ear.
“Less,” you whispered, placing your hand on her shoulder.
Slowly, the blonde started to stir, her eyes fluttering open but closing as soon as they were hit by the bright sun rays.
“I made you some breakfast,” you said softly, pulling the tray onto your lap.
“Thank you, baby,” Alessia mumbled, turning onto her back and rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.
“Of course,” you smiled, watching her pull herself up against the headboard.
“What time is it?” Alessia asked, pecking your lips as you placed her breakfast on her lap.
“Nearly midday,” you replied, smiling at her widened eyes.
“I’ve never slept in so late,” Alessia said, taking a bite out of one of the pancakes.
“And whose fault is that?” you said, tilting your head in a teasing manner.
“Yours,” Alessia said, taking another bite before offering a pancake to you.
“Mhm, sure it was,” you hummed, taking a small bite from her fork and letting her finish the rest.
Alessia didn't reply, only huffing out a small laugh, knowing exactly why she slept in so late. Her aching legs being a constant reminder. She finished off her breakfast, feeding you the occasional pancake or chunk of fruit, until there was nothing left on her plate.
Taking the tray from her lap, you placed it on the floor. You placed an arm over her legs, effectively trapping her to the bed under your body. The two of you didn’t say anything, just enjoying the company of one another.
Not being able to stop yourself, you let a smile form on your face before you shuffled up and started placing delicate kisses over Alessia’s face. A kiss for each of her freckles.
Both of your hands reached up to cup her face, bringing your lips down onto hers, feeling the warmth of her breath against yours. You could feel Alessia smile against your lips, the gesture driving you to insanity.
Pulling away slowly, your eyes met Alessia’s, the corners of her lips pulled proudly into a smile. Your heart fluttered at the sight, you couldn't believe that she was yours. You truly felt like the luckiest person on the planet.
“What was that for?” Alessia asked, wiping a thumb over your cheekbone. “Not that I'm complaining.”
“Just felt like it,” you shrugged, leaning back and reluctantly getting up.
Picking up the tray from the floor you made your way to the bedroom door, turning back round before you left.
“Where are you going?” Alessia questioned, confused that you weren’t staying with her longer.
“You need to get dressed,” you said, glancing at the time. “We’re going to be late.”
“Late?” Alessia wondered, sitting herself up. “Late for what?”
“You’ll see, just get dressed,” you replied, being discreet on purpose.
Walking back downstairs, you quickly wash the dishes and put them back in their designated places before going to the guest bedroom to get ready yourself.
Quickly hopping in the shower, you get yourself ready for the day. With your outfit, you chose to go smart but casual, a perfect combination for the day.
Having got ready in the guest bedroom to give Alessia a little space, you walked back into your bedroom, sitting on the edge of your bed as you waited for her to come out of the bathroom.
Hearing the door creak open, you snap your head up to your girlfriend, unable to take your eyes off her as she walked out in nothing but a towel, small droplets of water falling off her face.
Alessia, knowing the effect she had on you, decided to tease you. She turned around, looking in the wardrobe and dropping the towel to the floor. Your eyes trailed over her body and although she couldn’t see you, she knew what you were doing.
You bit your knuckles, trying to stop yourself from smiling as you watched Alessia get herself ready. Once the blonde turned around, you were quick to get up on your feet.
Taking one step forward, you cupped your hand around her jaw and pulled her into a bruising kiss before parting slightly and saying, “We won’t be going anywhere at this rate.”
“You were the one to decide to go out for the day,” Alessia shrugged, a teasing smile on her lips.
Shaking your head, you huff out a laugh, dropping your hand back to your side.
“You ready to go?” you asked, pulling a coat out of the wardrobe and putting it on.
“Yeah,” Alessia nodded, following you out of your bedroom and to the car.
Sitting in the driver's seat, you started up the car and looked in your mirrors. Double checking it was safe to pull out of your spot, you placed your arm around the back of Alessia’s chair and began to reverse.
Using one hand on the steering wheel to reverse, Alessia watched you carefully. Going from the way your hand manoeuvred around the steering wheel effortlessly to how your side profile was on full display as you looked out the back window.
The drive there didn't take long and before you knew it you were pulling up into a parking space. Turning the car off, you got out and walked around to Alessia’s side, opening the door for her.
Placing a kiss on your cheek as a thank you, the two of you walked down the street hand in hand until you reached your destination.
“Why are we here?” Alessia questioned, looking up at the small building.
“It's a baking class!” you said happily, looking down at Alessia with a smile.
“Are you trying to tell me something?” Alessia mumbled, looking up at you with a playful glare.
“Never,” you replied teasingly.
The two of you walked in, greeted by a little old lady beaming happily. She took you both to a back room where three other couples were already situated. Placing your coats on the hangers behind you, you put on some aprons and waited for your instructions.
In front of you was a table covered in an abundance of items scattered all over the top. The little old lady stood at the front of the room, addressing what you would be doing.
Alessia grinned at you at the mention of cookies, her excitement increasing tenfold. The lady executed each step with the intent of you following, although she seemed to underestimate that you and flour were a bad mix.
Pouring some into your hand, you blew the white powder into Alessia’s face. The blond turned to look at you with an evident scowl on her features. Taking it as a challenge, Alessia also grabbed some flour, throwing a handful back at you.
The old lady gave the two of you a scolding look causing you both to laugh and get back to the task at hand. After making the sugar cookies and putting them in the oven, the next task was making the icing.
You and Alessia placed multiple icing bags around your table each of them containing different colour icing, ready for the cookies to come out.
After taking the cookies out of the oven and waiting for them to cool down, it was finally time to decorate them. You had four and Alessia had four, the two of you decorating your own to then give to each other after.
Every now and then, Alessia would glance over to you watching every move you made. The way you stuck your tongue out in concentration or how your arms flexed as you squeezed the icing bag, even noticing the veins that crawled from your hand up to your arm.
Once you were happy with your cookies, you squeezed the last remaining icing into your mouth waiting patiently for Alessia to finish hers. Hearing a chuckle from beside you, you turned to look at Alessia. Raising an eyebrow in question you wondered what she was laughing at.
“What’s funny?” you wondered, your voice coming out muffled due to the icing in your mouth.
“Nothing,” Alessia smiled, shaking her head as she let out another soft laugh.
Still not quite believing her, you shrugged your shoulders and turned your face to glance around the room when she took a hold of each side of your face. Alessia used the pad of her thumb and brushed it along your lip, clearing away the icing that was there.
As she pulled away she kept her eyes locked with yours, licking the icing off her thumb and smiling to herself at your reaction. You couldn't help the blush that creeped up the back of your neck to the tips of your ears.
Having finished decorating her cookies, Alessia shielded her finished product from your view. She thanked the old lady when she came round with some boxes to put them in and you both put them in separate containers.
You put the aprons back where you found them, washing the four off your faces as well, before putting your coats back on, and leaving the little shop.
The two of you walked hand in hand down the street, turning a few corners and making your way into a park. You and Alessia talked about anything and everything before you found a bench overlooking a lake.
Placing your boxes beside one another, Alessia rested her head on your shoulder, taking a deep breath in and sighing contentedly as you wrapped an arm around her and pulled her closer into you.
“Do you want a cookie?” you asked quietly, trying not to disturb the tranquillity between you both.
“Yes please,” Alessia said, lifting her head from your shoulder.
Turning to your side, you opened your box, pulling out a cookie and handing it to Alessia. Taking it from your hands, she chuckled as she read the writing on it.
“Do you like it?” you questioned, looking down at the cookie which read, ‘be my baby’.
“I’m already your baby,” Alessia smiled, taking a bite, closing her eyes and humming at the taste.
“Forever?” you said a little nervously, holding out another cookie which read, ‘marry me?’
“A-are you serious?” Alessia mumbled, eyes wide open in complete shock.
“You’re it for me, Russo. There's no one I'd rather spend the rest of my life with,” you nodded, placing Alessia’s cookies back in the box and taking a hold of her hands. “I don't know how you do it, but every day I fall more and more in love with you. You’re continuously pulling me in, so much so, that if you leave me I'd simply break. I am hopelessly, irretrievably in love with you.”
“I -” Alessia sniffled, struggling to find the words as she looked into your eyes, tears flowing down her face. “I love you so much.”
“It’s always you, Less. Always has been and always will be. You’re my person. You’re my home.” you said, tears of your own forming in your eyes.
Taking in a deep breath, you stood up from the bench pulling Alessia up with you. She watched you carefully as you reached into your pocket and pulled out a small black box. With her hands shaking and breathing ragged, her heart pounded as she watched you get down on one knee in front of her.
“Alessia Mia Teresa Russo,” you started, opening the box to reveal a glittering ring inside. “Will you marry me?”
Unable to form a coherent sentence, Alessia nodded through her tears and choked out a ‘yes’.
Getting up from the floor, you took the ring out of the box and slipped it onto Alessia’s finger. Alessia practically threw herself into your arms, smashing her lips against yours in a kiss full of love and passion.
You both reluctantly pulled away, looking into each other's eyes. The two of you reciprocating one anothers smiles.
“I can’t wait to call you my wife,” you mumbled, placing delicate kisses on Alessia’s lips.
“Me neither,” Alessia smiled, pulling you back into a kiss.
Healing
Shout out to @lyak12 for helping me out and giving me encouragement ahahaha - forehead smooches for uuuu 💕
Part 1 : Part 2
Lucy Bronze x sister!Reader
Description: R finally starts to move on and heal
Word Count: 3.4k
It was silent. The kind of silence that stretched across the room like a suffocating blanket, pressing against the walls until they seemed to shrink inward. You could have heard a mouse sneeze or the faintest creak of the old floorboards beneath the weight of a ghost. Lucy sat motionless on the bed, her posture rigid, her eyes fixed on the phone that lay discarded on the floor like a venomous thing. The glow of its screen had dimmed, but its presence radiated with an almost malevolent energy. Behind her, Ona knelt, her hand half-raised as if reaching for an answer suspended in the thick, unmoving air.
“That’s not true … is it?” Ona’s voice was a whisper, more a breath than a question, barely cutting through the silence. But Lucy heard it; she had to. The only response was the tightening of her jaw, the muscle tensing so sharply it seemed to carve shadows across her cheek.
“Lucia?” Ona ventured again, her voice fragile, cracking like thin ice. This time, she reached out, fingers brushing lightly against the soft fabric of Lucy’s shirt. The moment shattered like glass as Lucy shot up, the bed creaking beneath her sudden movement. She snatched up her phone and began to pace, the rhythmic thud of her footsteps filling the silence with tension.
“Lucia.” Ona’s voice turned firmer, cutting through the charged space like a blade.
“What, Ona?” Lucy snapped, spinning on her heel. Her eyes, usually so warm, were storm-dark, and for a moment Ona flinched under the glare.
“What she just said … that’s not true, is it? It can’t be true.” The question hung in the air between them, an accusation and a plea tangled into one.
“Well, it is,” Lucy said, each word dropping like a stone into the pit between them. The room seemed to shudder with the weight of her admission. Her hand gripped the phone so tightly that her knuckles were white, a stark contrast to the flush of anger spreading across her skin.
The room shifted, the energy twisting and sharp. Ona’s eyes widened; disbelief painted across her features as she searched for anything in Lucy’s expression that would contradict what she had just heard. But there was only raw, unyielding truth.
“You can’t mean that,” Ona said, her voice thickening as emotion clawed at her throat. “Familia … familia is everything.”
“She is not my family,” Lucy spat, the venom in her voice startling in its ferocity. Each syllable dripped with resentment that had festered for years, an old wound torn open and bleeding anew.
“She’s your hermana,” Ona said, her tone wavering between a declaration and a plea. It was as though stating it aloud would shift the reality, would force Lucy to reconsider.
“And I hate her for it,” Lucy replied, her voice breaking at the end, betraying the deep chasm of hurt that lay beneath her anger. She turned away again, shoulders trembling with a mix of fury and something that looked achingly like grief.
It had been three long months since Lucy promised she’d fix things between you. She had looked straight into Ona's eyes, swearing that she would try, that she would reach out, and that she would sit down to talk with you. The weight of that promise hung heavy in the air, a lingering tension that neither of you could shake.
Lucy despised lying to Ona, but the truth was too complicated to share. She couldn’t just send you a random text out of the blue, asking to meet up after everything that had happened. It felt wrong, and even more so, she didn’t even have your number saved in her phone anymore. She thought about it often, how you might react if she did reach out. Deep down, she was fairly certain that, even if she had begged you for a chance to explain herself, you would have turned her away. So, instead, she chose silence.
She took the summer to relax, to move to London, the distance between your flats less than a twenty-minute drive. She started at her new club, immersing herself in work and the hustle of a new city, trying to find a rhythm in her life without you. To Ona, she created a narrative, a facade of resolution. Yes, you had met; yes, you had talked and cried, and yes, you had both agreed to be civil. In her mind, you both started moving on, creating lives that didn’t intersect, both pretending to let go. She didn’t tell Ona that she couldn’t reach out to you. That she didn’t really want too either. She was perfectly happy with the way things were. She had her life, and you had yours. You wouldn’t have wanted her to reach out.
Except you would have. You would have done whatever Lucy wanted, without hesitation. If she had reached out, you would have replied immediately, agreeing to meet with no hesitation, even if self-loathing washed over you in waves. No matter how much you hated yourself for it, the thought of ignoring her would have been unbearable.
You would have walked to that little coffee shop in the heart of London, the very place where countless memories lingered. You would have felt a knot of resentment twist in your stomach with every step. You would have watched the door intently, every minute stretching painfully, your mind racing with what-ifs and should-haves. Each time the bell above the door tinkled, you would have hated the way your heart leapt in response, a foolish flutter of hope that perhaps this time, it would be her. You would have cursed your own vulnerability, the way your body betrayed your resolve to move on.
Yet, despite all the anger and sadness, you would have done it anyway. You would have waited for her, yearning to hear her voice, needing to see her face again, even if it meant grappling with the truth of your tangled emotions. Each moment spent there would be a testament to your feelings, a silent acknowledgment that, despite everything, you were still drawn to her in a way you couldn’t fully understand.
You weren't going to deceive yourself – not anymore. That resolve had taken root in you on that brutal morning when you woke up, head pounding, heart shattered. You had vowed to allow yourself the time to grieve, to feel the sharp ache of loss without rushing the healing process. However long it took, you would give yourself that space. And, day by day, the wounds dulled. Watching Lucy's life unfold from a distance stopped stinging quite so much, and with each sunrise, another small piece of you wove itself back together.
For a week, you allowed yourself to fall apart. You mourned, sobbed, let every pang of sorrow run its course for the sister you had loved like family but had never truly had. Then, you chose to begin again. You left the cramped room in Alnwick, packing your life into boxes and setting your sights on London. There, you poured yourself into work, each task a stitch in the tapestry of a new life. You pushed yourself to meet new people, to explore parts of the city that felt unfamiliar and exciting. Gradually, your time outside the house expanded, and so did your world.
You even made it to an Arsenal-Bayern match – an opportunity to see both Leah and Georgia on the pitch together. Watching them, seeing the warmth in their smiles, and the comfort in their hugs, stirred something inside you. For a fleeting moment, you allowed yourself to imagine it was Lucy’s arms around you, grounding you, holding you close.
"Hello, gorgeous girl," Leah greeted, laughing as she playfully ruffled your hair.
"Hi, Leah," you replied, a soft smile breaking through as you leaned in for a hug.
This wasn’t your first meet-up with Leah. Your mum had reached out to her, asking her to look out for her "littlest baby" as you adjusted to life in London. And just like that, you’d become a sort of unofficial addition to the Arsenal family. Most of the England girls were aware of the strained history with Lucy, how you’d barely registered in her life. Yet, little by little, they’d pulled you into their circle, coaxing you out of your shell and into a place where you finally felt seen.
"Y'know, that offer’s still open," Leah murmured softly, her hands moving in a comforting rhythm along your back.
"I know," you replied, a small smile playing on your lips. "I got another email about it the other day."
Before you could say more, Georgia joined the hug, pulling you both in tight. "What offer?" she asked, her curiosity piqued.
You took a breath, letting the excitement bubble up as you spoke. "I got an email … from the FA. They’ve seen my photos – they liked them, actually. They’re offering me a chance to work with them as a photographer. Not the action shots, but the behind-the-scenes stuff. Capturing the players just… living, being themselves, showing the everyday moments."
Georgia’s eyes sparkled as she looked between you and Leah, clearly impressed. "That’s huge!"
"It’s big," you admitted, the reality of it still sinking in. "They want a team of four photographers. To help show the players as normal people. And they’re holding a spot for me if I want it."
Leah grinned, squeezing your shoulder. "You’d be amazing at that. They’d be lucky to have you."
You felt warmth spread through you as their support wrapped around you, grounding you and lifting you at the same time. This opportunity wasn’t just a job – it was a chance to carve out something meaningful, something of your own.
"I want to take it," you murmured softly, the weight of the decision hanging in your voice. "I just…" Your voice trailed off, hesitation tangling with hope.
Leah squeezed you tighter, her voice gentle but firm. "I'll talk to Sarina. Make it clear you’ll be separate. No interactions necessary."
You didn't need to elaborate – Leah and Georgia understood enough. They might not have known every painful detail of your history with Lucy, but they’d seen the shadows that used to linger in your eyes slowly fade. They’d watched as your smiles, once fragile and forced, gradually softened and grew genuine. This job offer was a step forward, but the thought of Lucy potentially being around stirred a familiar unease.
Before the silence could settle too heavily, Georgia nudged Leah with a grin. "Not sure why they think people would want to see Leah more. Everyone knows she's anything but normal." She stuck her tongue out, her playful tone slicing through the tension.
"Says you, cheeky fucker," Leah shot back, rolling her eyes with a grin as she pulled Georgia in for a side hug.
That night, you took a deep breath and sent off the confirmation email. As soon as you hit "send," a mix of excitement and anxiety surged through you, bubbling beneath the surface. It was a huge opportunity, one you’d dreamed of, but the what-ifs nagged at you. What if you ran into Lucy?
You knew she was in London, her presence like a shadow at the back of your mind. Chelsea had welcomed her with open arms, and by all accounts, she was thriving back in the WSL. Her life seemed bright and full – photos of her smiling with her new teammates, celebrating goals, her happiness almost palpable even from afar. She looked like she was where she was meant to be, in a space that had no room for you.
The thought unsettled you. It wasn't the same hurt as before, but an echo of it – a reminder of the distance that had always stretched between you. This new role would bring you closer to the world she lived in, closer than you had been in a long time.
But you reminded yourself of Leah and Georgia’s words, their support grounding you. They would be there, making sure you had the space to grow and heal without the interference of old wounds. You could do this. You wanted this, a chance to finally create something of your own, to build a life where you weren’t haunted by past disappointments.
And so, with a mix of nerves and hope, you closed your laptop, letting the enormity of this new chapter settle over you. Whatever happened, you were moving forward.
To: y/[email protected] From: [email protected] Hi Y/N, Congratulations. Welcome aboard the team. We’re so delighted to have you; your photographs are truly incredible and capture exactly what we are looking for. Y/N Tough – players: Leah Williamson Lotte Wubben-Moy Georgia Stanway Keira Walsh Alessia Russo Beth Mead Attachment: Y/N Tough – assignment brief Please do not hesitate if you have any questions. I look forward to working with you, Sincerely, Kim Wilson. Managing Social Media and Outreach Director
You couldn’t hold back a laugh when the list of names came through. It was obvious Leah had pulled some serious strings for you, probably calling in every favour she had. But as you read over the names, excitement bubbled up in your chest, mixing with a sense of wonder. For the first time in a long time, you felt genuinely seen. You never imagined you’d reach this point, where your work would be valued by people who actually wanted you around, people who recognised your talent and believed in you.
The realisation hit you hard. For so long, you’d been weighed down by the sting of constant rejection, a silent ache you had buried so deep that you hadn’t even noticed its impact. You’d convinced yourself it was normal, that maybe you simply weren’t meant to fit in or be accepted. But now, sitting here with your laptop open and this email in front of you, that old pain seemed to ease, just a little. It was like a tight knot in your chest had loosened, allowing space for something softer, something brighter.
This new opportunity felt like a fresh start – a chance not only to showcase your work but to belong, to carve out a place for yourself among people who truly valued you. The familiar ache, that constant reminder of past rejections, had softened, replaced by a tentative sense of pride. Maybe… maybe you were healing, after all?
You let yourself linger on the thought, the possibility of healing, of moving on from the scars of the past. It wasn’t the kind of thing that would happen overnight, but in this moment, it felt attainable. You were no longer defined by the shadows of what you lacked or the people who’d overlooked you. Instead, you were finally stepping into your own light.
"Leah," Beth groaned, laughing as she eyed a very stubborn Leah, who was perched childishly on top of the kitchen counter. Leah's face scrunched up in exaggerated distaste as Alessia held out a spoonful of pasta sauce, trying to coax her into tasting it. Smiling to yourself, you brought your camera up, snapping a quick shot before lowering it again.
You always preferred to work that way – keeping your camera tucked away, only bringing it out for a fleeting moment to capture something genuine. Over the years, you'd learned to stay in the background, a wallflower observing life from the sidelines. Being around people who were used to the spotlight, you knew that the moment they noticed a camera, they’d instinctively turn on that public persona. So, you’d made it a habit to hide your camera, only clicking when a moment truly called for it.
"I don’t understand why I have to have the sauce," Leah whined, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Because you need actual nutrition," Alessia laughed, shaking her head as she turned back to the stove. "And I’ll be damned if I let you eat plain pasta."
"I get plenty of nutrition, thank you very much," Leah huffed.
"Drinking protein smoothies doesn’t count, Le," Lotte chimed in, grinning as she joined in the teasing. She stuck her tongue out, and you captured another shot of their playful banter, the warmth and laughter filling the kitchen.
Leah slid off the counter, grumbling as she made her way over to you. "Y/NNNNNN," she whined, wrapping her arms around you. "They’re being mean."
"Sorry, Leah," you replied, leaning back into her embrace. A soft sigh escaped you, contentment washing over you as you soaked in the light-hearted moment.
"Can I take a photo?" Lotte asked, nodding towards the camera hanging around your neck.
"Uh…" You hesitated, the thought of being on the other side of the lens making you feel oddly vulnerable.
"It’s okay if you don’t want me to," Lotte quickly reassured, her tone gentle.
"No, no," you managed, giving her a smile. "How about a group one?" You nodded toward Leah and Beth, hoping that sharing the spotlight would take off some of the pressure.
"Lessi? Photo?" Beth called over, waving Alessia to join.
"Nope, the sauce is almost done, and I don’t want it to burn," Alessia replied, waving them off with a grin.
Before you knew it, Beth and Leah were squishing their faces against yours, grinning and laughing as Lotte snapped the photo. The moment was a blur of warmth and closeness, a reminder of how far you'd come. Here, in this kitchen filled with laughter and teasing, you finally felt like part of something real. And for once, being in front of the camera didn’t feel so daunting.
It continued like that – small, intimate moments, snapshots of laughter and friendship, as you found yourself surrounded by people you were slowly coming to think of as friends. Each frame you captured was filled with warmth, with faces you were beginning to trust, and with memories that made you smile. It was a strange, almost surreal feeling to be surrounded by footballers and not feel the familiar ache. In the past, every encounter with this world had been shadowed by Lucy – her dismissive comments, the way she’d turned people away from you without a second thought. Football had once been a painful reminder of rejection, but now, the hurt had started to fade.
"Are you sure you don’t mind?" you asked Leah one afternoon, your voice wavering with lingering hesitation. Her bright blue eyes met yours, steady and gentle.
"Not in the slightest," she replied with a reassuring smile.
It was the London Derby. Over the past few months, you’d become a regular at Arsenal matches, using each game as an opportunity to work on your Lionesses project, but also taking a few personal shots for yourself. You enjoyed these games now, finding inspiration and comfort in the sport, rather than pain.
Still, the idea of seeing Lucy lingered at the edges of your mind, a quiet fear you couldn’t quite shake. Even after nearly six months of silence, you knew you weren’t ready. You’d spent so much time and energy mending yourself, stitching up the wounds that had felt endless and raw. Piece by piece, you were rebuilding, learning to stand on your own without looking back. The thought of seeing her – even just catching a glimpse of her on the field – was too much. You feared it would unravel everything you’d worked so hard to mend, the fragile progress you’d made in healing yourself.
So, you stayed close to Leah and the others, grateful for their understanding, for the way they shielded you without asking too many questions. For the first time in a long time, you felt safe, not just from the world but from the pain of your own past. And as you lifted your camera to capture another candid moment, you realised you were finally starting to find peace – one frame at a time.
Turned on by the simplest thing || Alessia Russo
Masterlist | Prompt list
Request Breastfeeding kink gets turned on every time you go to feed she gets annoyed someone else is sucking your breast instead of her
A/N Now I debated whether to add something into this fic, and I asked my readers and you can see their responses here and here.
Warning smut 18+, breastfeeding kink, soft smut, cunnilingus, postpartum sex, insecurities
Summary Alessia gets turned on by the simplest thing, breastfeeding.
Alessia’s favourite part of your body was your boobs.
You knew that, she knew that, most people knew that.
In the changing rooms, she’d always get caught staring at your bra.
If you were lying in bed, she’d have her hands resting on your boobs.
If you were having sex, her mouth would always be latched to your nipples.
She just loved your boobs.
But there was a new person who loved your boobs just as much now, your newborn baby girl, Ava.
The first time you had to feed Ava was eventful.
The nurse was teaching you how to get Ava to latch on, Alessia was sat just watching, specifically eyeing your boobs.
But because she was so wrapped up in the moment of becoming a mama, she failed to notice that someone was slowly replacing her.
It wasn’t until a few weeks later that she finally noticed.
“Hi Ava, hi baby.” Alessia cooed, picking a crying Ava up and cradling her to her chest. “Let’s go see mummy, huh? She’ll feed you.”
Alessia walked out of Ava’s nursery, walking into the living room where you were sat.
“Hi, bubba.” You said, taking Ava in your arms and preparing yourself to feed her.
Alessia came and sat down next to you, helping hold Ava as you latched her on.
The room was silent apart from small hums of contentment from Ava as she drank.
You just so happened to look at Alessia to see her eyes drilled on your boob.
“What’re you looking at?” You asked, a smirk in your face.
“She’s stealing my job, your boobs are mine.” Alessia said, a pout on her lips.
“Lessi, baby, she has to do this.” You pointed out, a slight smile resting on your face.
“I know, but…”
“You can have them later, okay? When we’ve put her back down. As long as you’re gentle.”
Alessia’s eyes lit up, nodding her head eagerly before pressing a tender kiss to your cheek.
—
Ava had fallen back asleep and you’d managed to transfer her back to her nursery crib without waking her.
Both, you and Alessia, had decided to start getting Ava to sleep in her nursery during the day so when it was time for her to go from your room to her nursery, she would be comfortable in there.
You heard Alessia in the bedroom and so you creaked open the door, your heart swelling with love as you did so.
You watched as Alessia lit candles around the room, playing some relaxing songs through the Alexa.
“Baby!” Alessia whisper shouted, not wanting to wake Ava up.
You waited a while and then opened the door, pretending to be surprised.
“Lessi… you did this?”
“I want to show you how proud I am of you and how much I love you.” Alessia explained, wrapping her arms round you and bringing you in for a hug.
You responded by kissing her gently, all the love you felt for one another being poured into it.
Whilst kissing you, Alessia reached for the bottom of your shirt, gently pulling it over your head.
“Baby, listen, my body… it’s not how it used to—” you began, pulling away from the kiss.
“—Y/N, you really think I care about that? Pretty girl, you’d just given birth to our daughter. I don’t care what you look like. I love you no matter what.” Alessia said gently, your heart swelling with love.
“I love you so much, lessi.” You told her before reconnecting your lips in a passionate kiss.
Alessia guided you to the bed, unclipping your bra in the process and laying you down on the bed.
Alessia lips didn’t leave yours, even when she climbed on top of you.
Her lips travelled down to your boobs, gently kissing them.
“Fuck.” You hissed at the sensitivity as she licked your nipples.
“Do you want me to stop?” Alessia asked concerned, but you shook your head no.
Alessia continued sucking gently at your nipples.
You hadn’t realized straight away, but when you heard Alessia swallowing, you realized she was drinking your breast milk.
“Tastes so good, baby.” Alessia mumbled before sucking again at your nipple.
“Lessi, you’re drinking it?” You asked, shocked, but it came out as a moan due to the pleasure.
“Tastes too good not to.”
“Fuck, baby.” You gasped, finding the action hot.
Alessia hummed, satisfied, before moving down to your soaked core.
“Gonna be so gentle, love, I promise.” Alessia whispered, her tongue flattening against your folds.
You arched your back at the contact, having not felt it in months.
Alessia lapped at your folds before licking your clit.
“Feel good?” Alessia questioned, the vibrations of her voice clearly evident as jolts of pleasure ran through your body.
“Yes, lessi, feels so good.” You told her, your hand finding her hair.
Alessia stuck to your clit, thinking that you’d be very sensitive, due to the birth, anywhere else.
“Fuck, less — I’m so close, baby.” You warned her, pulling on her hair. “Please don’t stop, please.”
“Cum for me, pretty girl.”
You let out a cry as your legs spasmed around Alesia’s head.
She licked your juices before coming up to be level with your face.
“Thank you for being gentle.” You whispered, bringing Alessia in for a kiss.
You moaned as you tasted yourself on Alessia’s tongue.
Alesia’s lips left yours and travelled down to your left boob.
“Can I have some more?” Alessia asked and you nodded, resting a hand on the back of her head and playing with the baby hairs.
Just as Alessia began to suck, a cry was heard over the baby monitor.
You and Alessia both looked at each other and sighed.
“I’ll go get her.”
Courage of Fools - Alessia Russo/Reader
prompt: R always orders flowers on Fridays for Alessia since they're long distance. One Friday, Alessia doesn't get a delivery.
warnings: none
words: 2096
“Come on, Less!” Leah called over her shoulder at the younger blonde who had been trailing behind checking her phone. “We’re at your house, mate. You’re the one who’s got to let us in.”
Alessia, however, wasn’t paying attention as she was checking the text messages that she had received while she was in practice today. But there was nothing from the one person she was hoping to have one from.
Alessia’s day had started out abysmally. After all she had been missing her person for weeks now. It had made her move to Arsenal a bit rough as she had to adjust to an entirely new team and home and the one person who was supposed to be here to go through it with her just had to be back in Los Angeles. She was getting radio silence from you all morning as well, but she didn’t let it get to her with the time difference and everything. You must have just fallen asleep before you sent Alessia a text to wake up to; it didn’t happen often, but it had happened before. Besides, it was Friday and that meant flowers.
Only when she opened the door, there were no flowers to greet her at the door like there normally were. The tradition had started when she had first moved back to England in late 2020. Her partner hadn’t been able to follow her. So Alessia had been pleasantly surprised to find the flowers waiting for her at her door that first Friday morning. But since then, Alessia always had a bouquet of flowers waiting for her at the door on Friday mornings whenever the two were apart.
Then, on top of that, Alessia had a horrible practice. She had been worrying all throughout the practice as to why she hadn’t gotten flowers that morning. Her mind immediately assuming the worst. But surely, if you had been injured then she would have been called. Maybe you met someone else, and this is how you breaking up with her then?
So, she had a horrible practice.
There were still no text messages from you either.
And, of course, Alessia had to offer up her place for the girls to come and hang out at once practice had wrapped up. But that had been before she didn’t get her flowers on Friday morning.
That’s why she was the last one to the door as her new Arsenal teammates had gathered on the porch waiting for the blonde striker to let them in to the house. Alessia slightly fumbled with the keys as her mind was still distracted. Maybe if she hadn’t been so distracted, she would have noticed the extra pair of shoes in the closet that definitely hadn’t been there this morning when she had gotten her own pair out.
“Okay, what’s wrong?” Beth finally asked.
Both of the elder lionesses had been quite aware that something else was affecting Alessia’s mood for the day, but neither of them could help the young striker if she didn’t open up to them. After all, Beth and Leah had promised each other that they would take care of Alessia once she joined them at Arsenal; same as they did for Lotte.
“She’s probably just missing (Y/N),” Lotte teased her friend before she started making kissy faces.
Alessia rolled her eyes as she shoved Lotte away. Lotte knowing of your and Alessia’s relationship since she had to unfortunately watch the two of you pining after each other for nearly two years before either of you had made a move on the other while you three were in college.
“(Y/N)?” Leah repeated the name. She shared a look with Beth as they settled onto the couch. Neither of them had ever heard Alessia talking about someone that she was involved with. “Who’s (Y/N)?”
“No one,” Alessia said a bit too quickly.
Alessia loved showing you off, but the two of you had been keen on keeping your relationship private. Alessia wasn’t sure how much privacy the two of you would have once her national teammates knew. It was bad enough when Tooney had caught the two of you while filming for her vlog because then Alessia had to convince her friend to delete the footage that she had.
“Lotte, who’s (Y/N)?” Leah asked as she turned to her fellow defender.
Lotte froze at that. She was quite aware that the two of you preferred privacy and Alessia had already refused to tell Leah and Beth about you. But it was Leah, and she would force Lotte to run extra the following day in practice and Lotte knew it.
“Just someone from college.”
“Just someone from college?” Leah asked. Her eyes darted between the two younger players. “But obviously someone who means enough if Alessia’s in a bad mood.”
“It’s none of your business,” Alessia snapped. She really didn’t want to deal with this, especially seeing as the two of you hadn’t gotten the chance to talk about finally introducing you to her teammates.
“Lessi, we just want to be able to help you,” Beth said softly. Alessia trained a glare on the other forward. Alessia knew that Beth and Leah were coming from a good place, it just happened to be at one of the worst times for her. “We can’t help you if we don’t know what’s going on.”
Before Alessia had a chance to say anything back, the four were frozen as the doorknob rattled behind them. Leah was absolutely certain that she had locked the door behind her once she entered the house.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Y/N) POV
I faltered slightly once I caught sight of more than just Alessia in our living room. Considering Alessia’s Mercedes was outside, I knew that she was home, but I hadn’t been expecting her to have company. After all, I had been hoping to surprise her.
“(Y/N)!”
Lotte was the first one to get over the shock of seeing me as she barreled into me for a hug. I had to admit, it had been far too long since I had seen the defender. After all, she and Alessia had ended up at different clubs after they left UNC for the WSL, and I had spent a majority of my time with Alessia when I was able to visit.
I didn’t have time to rest because as soon as Lotte was out of my arms, Alessia was jumping in them. I stumbled back a couple of steps as Alessia wrapped her arms around my neck and her legs around my waist.
“Don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere for a while,” I softly said before I pressed a kiss right under her ear.
Alessia stayed where she was wrapped around me for a few more moments, but I was becoming increasingly uncomfortable due to the audience we had. Had it just been Lotte, I wouldn’t have minded, but we did have a couple of Alessia’s other teammates here as well.
“I thought you forgot,” Alessia admitted once she unwrapped herself from me and took the flowers from my hands. I groaned as I rubbed my shoulder once she punched it after looking at the bouquet for a moment. “Or that something bad had happened, asshole. You didn’t text me and they weren’t waiting for me this morning.”
“I can’t surprise you?” I asked, causing Alessia to shake her head. Alessia did like to know my schedule so she knew when she could call me, but it often meant that I had to pay attention to her schedule as well or else she would forgo sleep just to talk to me all night. “We wrapped up recording yesterday morning. I called Richard down at Leaf in Peace and let him know that I wouldn’t need the flowers delivered this morning and that I’d come by so I could pick some out for you myself. Caught a red eye, dropped my bags off here, and then went to get the flowers.”
“You could have told me you were coming.”
I only shrugged at that as my gaze turned to the older two players in the living room who were watching us. I shuffled past Alessia to hold my hand out to the two.
“I’m (Y/N).”
The two only stared at my hand before turning to each other. I was about to drop my hand, but the taller blonde grabbed a hold of it before I could. I was a bit surprised when she pulled me closer to her.
“Hurt our Less and we’ll hurt you,” the taller one said. I quickly nodded my head in understanding. Honestly, she was a lot scarier than Mario had been when he threatened to hurt me if I ever treated Alessia wrong. “Even the slightest hint‒”
“Leah!” Alessia cut the woman off and she got in between us to try and push us apart. “Let (Y/N) go.”
The taller blonde, Leah, I assumed, still had a tight grip on my hand.
“Leah, let go. Now.”
Leah didn’t until the other blonde grabbed the back of Leah’s shirt to pull her back. I slightly winced as I rubbed my hand.
“Are you okay?” Alessia asked as she took the hand that Leah had been holding to look over it. I sent her a soft smile as I nodded. The handshake really hadn’t hurt that bad. Or well, if it did, Alessia would never know that. “The bitch is Leah,” Alessia ignored the gasp from the blonde who had just been shaking my hand, “and the other is Beth.”
“Meado?”
“Oh, so you do pay attention to me when I tell you about my teammates.”
“Give me some credit. I’ve learned a lot about soccer since I’ve met you.”
“Football.”
“Whatever.”
“So, when’s the album coming out?”
Alessia and I both looked over at Lotte who was watching us. I shrugged because I wasn’t entirely sure. I had only just finished recording it, but that didn’t mean that it was ready to be available for the world to listen to just yet.
“I get to listen to it first, yeah?”
“How’s that fair? I’m the girlfriend!”
“Yeah, but I’m the matchmaker!”
I rolled my eyes at the two of them as they continued to bicker about which one of them would get to hear the album first. All three of us knew that it would be Alessia since there was no way that I wouldn’t be playing the songs for her once we were alone.
“You’re a singer?” Beth asked. I turned to look at her before I nodded. I had gotten a record deal during the pandemic and had finally started my music career. “You have an album coming out?”
“No release date yet,” I admitted to her. I actually loved to talk about my music to others especially since most of it was about Alessia. “There’s still quite a bit of work to do for it. We really just recorded acoustic versions of what the finished songs will be.”
“Are you using Alessia just to get famous?”
Lotte and Alessia both stopped their argument at the question. I knew that this would be something that some would think, especially early in my own career.
“Leah!”
“It’s okay, Lessi,” I said as I wrapped my hand around Alessia’s wrist so that I could pull her close to me. “It’s a fair question considering we’ve kept our relationship a secret for so long and you are one of the best strikers in England right now.”
“No, it isn’t,” Alessia said, as she turned from me to glare at Leah. “Just because Leah has no idea that we’ve been dating since college doesn’t give her the right to ask if you’re just using me.”
The room grew tense as neither Alessia or Leah refused to back down from the other.
Ultimately it was Lotte who broke the silence.
“So, what’s the album about?”
I grinned as I looked over at her.
“What do you think?”
“No,” Lotte groaned as I pressed a kiss to Alessia’s cheek. “Not a whole album of songs just for Alessia. Didn’t you write her enough while we were in college?”
“Lotte, the album is literally about us getting together,” I pointed out. I knew that Lotte was aware of what the album was about considering I had been working on it since college. “At least you named it.”
“I did?”
“Oh, yeah,” I nodded as Alessia threw a slight glare at me. “Courage of Fools. That’s what you said when we both finally tried to ask each other out, right?”

Makes sense (Ella Toone x Alessia Russo x Reader)
Tensions were high, Ella, Alessia and Millie had just lost a big match and they weren’t taking it well.
You tried to console them but you could tell they were not in the mood, you made them each a cuppa and placed them down on the table praying it could be an olive branch.
They didn’t budge, “You played great today, you should be proud of yourselves.”
“Fuck off, would you!” You were taken aback as a normally calm Alessia Russo raised her voice not even feeling a sliver of remorse.
You look over to Ella for help but she just glares at you, Millie looks down in shame. Before she can give you an apologetic look your already out the door.
“Hey! [Y/N] come on! She didn’t mean it she’s just frustrated!” You scoff as you get into your car, your sick of dealing with their shitty attitudes every time they lose.
“How many times have I heard that! I’m fucking sick of being treated like this! You think if I had a bad audition I’d treat them like that. In fact I’ve been rejected by loads of people but I never lash out!” Millie hangs her head in shame, she knows that they were bad loser but you have always been there for them.
It was really unfair.
“Wait! How did your audition go?” You paused before answering, “I didn’t get it.” You slammed the door before driving off leaving Millie alone.
Alessia and Ella didn’t look at each other while they heard the whole conversation, they completely forgot you had an audition, you had been worrying about it for a while, it was one you really wanted.
They didn’t dwell on it though as they were brought back into the crushing disappointment of losing against Man City.
A few hours has passed and you still weren’t home, Alessia had accepted the loss and felt guilt brew in her stomach the longer you were gone.
“Anything?” Less had asked Millie but the blonde just shook her head, Ella was locked in your shared room, the girls hadn’t seen her since.
Alessia couldn’t believe herself, she never loses her cool, especially to lovely you. You’ve known each other for years, she admired the way you and Leah are with each other.
It reminds her of herself and Ella. Alessia knows you were hoping maybe Ella would stand up for you and Alessia was sort of hoping too but she also knew Ella could never get mad at her.
Alessia falls down a hole of memories of the four of you, anytime they had a bad loss you had been there through all there moods. Not once have you ever let a loss of a role affect your mood.
Alessia didn’t even hear the front door open or Millie bombarding you with question, she did hear a slamming of a door though and knew it was Ella’s room you decided to head straight for.
She couldn’t hear exactly what the two of you were saying but she knew you were fighting as the volume increased. Alessia knew it could possibly be about her attitude towards you this morning but she could sense something was brewing a long time ago.
“Your not the fucking boss of me, Ella!” Alessia’s heart races in her chest, she’s never really heard you and Ella fight, in fact you two are connected by the hip so disgustingly in love with each other, she used to find that annoying but now she’s just parting she’ll be able to see it again.
“I’m not your boss? Well then who is?” The silence is even louder and Alessia hold her breath. She hears the door slam again and knows you’ve just walked out.
Alessia decides to peak her head out the door and frowns when she sees the front door open.
She watches as you fiddle with your phone, your finger hovering over Leah’s contact but eventually you sigh and stare at your Lock Screen.
A picture of you on Ella’s back while kissing her cheek adorned the phone, she a heard a quiet sniffle before sitting down next to you.
“Hi.” “Hey.” The silence that follow creates a lump in Alessia’s throat, nothing with you was ever awkward because you made people feel so comfortable but she could see you were tired, the bags under your eyes were also an indication.
“Why are you sitting out here?” She watches as you shrug while leaving a humourless laugh out, “I’m to embarrassed to call Leah, she needs some time with Jordan and I’m always bombarding them.”
“I’m sure Leah doesn’t feel that way.”
“Well I was sure you never felt that way but here we are.” Alessia bows her head in shame, “You know I feel like I can never win with any of you, I get that your passionate I do, I respect it so much…But…Look, I’m really tired Less, we’ll talk about it tomorrow or something, I have to figure out how to book the nearest hotel.”
“What? Why are you staying at a hotel?” Alessia’s heart dropped in her stomach, “Well, It’s not like El wants me in her room right now and honestly I’ve felt like I’ve been intruding your space and your house for far to long.” Alessia’s heart aches as you refer to the house as theirs, you had every right to live in it, it was as much yours as it was theirs.
Less knew you moving from Ireland to America was difficult, you had to leave your whole family behind and all your friends to pursue a career at such a young age. Not to mention you moving to England after meeting Ella and to be closer to Leah once again leaving your new family and friends behind.
She couldn’t even imagine how lonely you must feel at this moment and the guilt was gnawing away at her, she knows you’ve sacrificed a lot of roles to be here in England, she’s knows it’s not just because of Ella, she knows a big part of your decision to stay was her.
You stood up eventually, the weight of the world was dragging you down and it was clear as day right now, “I’m gonna try figure something out, I’ll see you tomorrow or something.”
Alessia now panicking frantically stands up, “I’m not letting you just leave! This is your house as much as it’s ours.”
Hearing the commotion, Millie steps out onto the front step watching Alessia hold herself together as you walk towards your car, “Less? What’s happening?” Alessia doesn’t even answer she just reaches out to grab your arm pulling you back.
“I’m sorry, look at me. I’m sorry…” Alessia loses hope as you pull away from her gently, a tear falls as she watches you get in the car and that’s when she gets frantic.
“Tooney! Ella! Please, get up. Stop her from leaving! If anyone can it’s you.” Alessia shakes her best friend harder when she hears the rev of the car, “Ella, remember all the good times, yeah! Think of the loss today, that was one match, we are about to lose something a lot bigger than that match could ever be, so fucking get up and help me!”
No movement, not even any acknowledgement. Alessia lets out a shaky sigh as she sheepishly walks out the door, with one last ditch effort, “Please! Don’t go.” Millie has her head in her hands while she phones Rachel, hoping that maybe her girlfriend could have any idea of what to do right now.
“Wait!” Alessia freezes when she hears her voice, she knows you heard it too as you glare hardens. Like a flash Ella’s past her best friend making a beeline to your car.
Alessia prays to every high god that Ella pulls through, she watched as Ella rips open your car door with a force, “Get out of the car.” One simple demand, your face hardens even more being brought back to the fight you and Ella had just had.
“No.” Ella nods her head, “Fine.” The colour drains from Alessia’s face as she watches Ella close your door, but Ella doesn’t walk back towards the house instead she jumps into the passenger seat and drives off with you.
Those next few hours are the most nervous Alessia has ever been, she feels sick and she’s tried to call Ella a million times. That’s when she heard the car in the driveway, she held her breath. Alessia thinks she’ll cry if Ella gets out but you don’t.
Ella does get out and time slows down when Alessia doesn’t see you open the door, that’s until she sees the smile plastered across her best friends face as she opens the door for you helping you out.
Ella pushes you against the car and kisses you fiercely, Alessia doesn’t think she’ll ever be more relieved to see the two you kiss, you wrap your arms around Ella’s neck while she peppers kisses up your neck.
Less doesn’t even wait as she barrels through the front door, making a beeline for your arms as she all bus shoves Ella out of the way.
“Oi, Less!” You giggle and Alessia gasps with relief as she squeezes you, “I’m so sorry, I fucking love you. I need you to know that!” You kiss her cheek softly, “I know that, Less. I love you.”
“We’ve been thinking, ya know?” That catches Alessia’s attention as you both separate slightly, “I love you. [Y/N/N] and I love you Less. I know you love us too.”
Alessia stands there dumbfounded but when you turn around to face her everything fades away, Less has always known there was something special about you that she couldn’t exactly pinpoint.
But as you look at her, wide blue eyes staring at her, she’s realised she’s fell completely head over heels in love with you.
“I’m confused?” You giggle as you wrap your arms around her neck gently, her breath hitches as you stare at her, “I love you, Less.” She can’t even concentrate on the words but she feels them as you connect your lips with hers, it’s everything she’s ever wanted.
The moment of panic when she realises Ella’s still there makes her end the blissful kiss to check on her lifelong best friend.
But Ella’s just smiling softly as she watches her person kiss her best friend. “El?” She reaches out a hand for Ella to take and she finest hesitate to grasp it.
“Look Less, your my best friend in the whole fucking world, there is no one else I trust more.” She gives you a quick wink, “What me and [Y/N/N] have is something incredible, there are no words to how this girl makes me feel. You make me feel the same.
Alessia’s breath hitches at her best friends confession, Ella doesn’t give her time to think as she wraps her up in a kiss. Everything starts making sense as a weight lifts of Alessia’s shoulder, all this time she’s been in love with her two best friends and she just didn’t know it.
Less doesn’t waste a second before she’s wrapping you up in her arms for a searing kiss as Ella chuckles behind her, “Trust me, Less! You’ll be addicted soon.”
“I already fucking am.” It’s mumbled against your lips as she drags you closer, you hold out your hand for Ella and she kisses your knuckles gently.
Alessia picks you up bridled style and you already know your gonna have your hands full with the two of them. Millie says her quick goodbyes and is off with Rachel after the stressful day.
Ella picks you up this time, “I did it first.” Ella just rolled her eyes before kissing your cheek softly and leading you to your room, “You coming, Less?”
“I know who will be soon!”
“Jesus, Less!”
“Less!”
Later that night as the three of you lay down your absolutely spent, stuck between the two girls as you try to catch your breath.
Alessia attaches her lips to your neck in one last effort of intimacy, you had other ideas though as you pull her chin up to connect your lips.
As your cuddled in between them Ella reaches over to grab her best friends hand, “Addiction, I’m telling you.” Alessia chuckles quietly before agreeing.

Italian Sunshine and British Stormcloud - Alessia Russo x reader
Hey! This is my attempt at a Lessi fic and if you couldn't tell this is my own spin on Sunshine and Sunshine Protecter :) hope you enjoy!
Ever since the Euro's win, the Lioness's have been getting a lot more attention. A lot more eyes have been put on them since the win and they have gained a lot more fans. But two in particular had caught the fans attention.
Alessia Russo and Y/n L/n.
Otherwise known as the Italian Sunshine and the British Stormcloud.
Both of them had a fantastic tournament but their connection on the field during the Euro's put a spotlight on them.
And while Fans adored Alessia's happy Sunshine personality. Fans absolutely loved Y/n's cold and hardened persona both on and off the field. For some reason fans ranted and raved over Y/n's brooding and mysterious persona.
That and the fact that her physique could rival that of Lucy Bronze didn't hurt as well.
And while some people thought it was just an act, it really wasn't. Even her teammates got the same treatment.
Well all bar one.
"Have you ever even seen her smile?" Ella wonders out loud as they're eating breakfast that morning.
"What are you on about now Tooney?" Georgia asked while rubbing her eyes. She wasn't sure if she was awake enough for Ella's antics this early in the morning.
"Y/n" Ella answered exasperated as if the answer was obvious.
"What?" Alessia asked but was swiftly ignored by her best friend so she rolled her eyes and went back to her food.
"Think about it when have you ever seen her smile" Ella asks the table who all go into thought.
"Like all the time" Alessia answers munching on her fruit.
Ella shakes her head. "I don't mean like that little smirk she does whenever she scores or something goes her way. I mean like proper smile".
Everyone else at the table pauses as they try to think of a time when the stoney faced striker flashed them a smile.
"Holy shit...she doesn't smile!" Mary gasps as she and the rest of the table look over at you who was obviously eating breakfast with your headphones in.
"Exactly!" Ella exclaimed now that someone finally agreed with her.
"Come off it! That's not true" Alessia says with a roll of her eyes.
Ella opens her mouth to argue back but quickly shut it when she sees you approach the table. Everyone quietens thinking they've been caught but are surprised when you hold out your bowl to the blonde striker.
Alessia tilts her head at you adorably which reminds you remarkably of a puppy.
You tilt the bowl slightly showing her the contents of the bowl. "You like strawberries don't you?" You ask her as you nudge the bowl towards her again.
Alessia breaks out in a wide smile as she nods happily. "Thank you Y/n!" She thanks as she starts to eat them with a hum.
There is the slightest uptick in your mouth at the blonde but it quickly disappears and is replaced with a scrunch of your face when you realize that Ella is eying you strangely.
You furrow your brows at her before giving her a weird look and walking away to get ready for training.
Ella's eyes flicker forward and back between Alessia and where their grumpy teammates just stood. She was surprised how normal the interaction was between her best friend and her striker partner. Alessia didn't seem one bit fazed.
"Sorry did that just happen?" Ella questions.
"What?" Alessia once again questions as she continues happily eating the strawberries.
Ella looked at her for a second tilting her head. "Nothing. Nevermind" Ella shook her head as she went back to her food. Alessia looked at her friend weirdly before shrugging and letting it go. It wasn't often that Ella gave up like that but she wasn't going to question it when she could go back to enjoying her strawberries.
However, Ella couldn't help but think about it. She had never seen you smile but that didn't mean you were completely heartless. You did have your soft moments. But thinking back all of them seemed to be connected to the blonde sitting beside her. For now she decided to shrug it off.
But she was definitely going to be looking into this now.
##
Over the next few days Ella had kept a close eye on the new-star striker partnership.
And the more she watched the more she realized that she did have a lot of soft moments that no one else on the team noticed. That she wasn't as stoney and hardened as the team believed her to be.
She also noticed that all these soft moments were directed at Alessia.
While they were all small things they didn't fail to put a smile on the blonde's face. Whether it was something small as sharing your strawberries with her at breakfast, saving her an energy bar after training or even giving her small compliments after her scoring or setting up an assist.
Ella had watched for the past few days how you had interacted with everyone and then how you interacted with Alessia.
Ella had noticed how when talking to your teammates, you would respond with your subtle smirk, a roll of the eyes or (most of the time) narrowed eyes. Only really speaking when needed to.
But with Alessia it was different.
Alessia would be chatting the ear off you and if it was any other person they either would have been easily ignored or glared at until they went away. But you didn't do any of that.
Instead you stayed quiet and judging by small nods every now and again you were clearly listening with what Ella could only describe as the closest thing to a smile you had ever done. (It wasn't really. But your lips were ticked up enough that she would call it a shadow smile. Keeping with your nickname).
Ella even doubted that Alessia noticed when you passed her a water bottle without any prompting as she brings to take a swig.
Or when Alessia was so busy talking to you that she didn't even notice she was about to walk straight into the goalpost. Well she would have if it wasn't for you seemlessly slinging your arm around her shoulders and pulled her into you slightly so that she narrowly avoided hitting the post.
Ella scoffed realizing that even Alessia's clumsiness had been toned down recently due to your efforts. (Most likely without her noticing as well).
But it seemed like the two just started to gravitate towards each other. Which is seen at the team bonding for the night was decided to be a movie night in Leah and Georgia's room.
You had somehow managed to claim Georgia's bed to yourself. While most would say it's because you had tweaked your knee a bit at training that day and wanted to be careful not to jostle it too much.
Honestly, the real answer was most of the time, the team left you to your own devices not wanting to piss you off.
However, Ella wasn't the only one shocked when Alessia practically skipped over to the bed and nestled in beside you. Ella swore she saw some of the team's jaw drop when she saw how you open your arm out allowing the blonde to tuck herself into your side.
And it didn't stop there.
Alessia practically squealed when she saw how you had saved some of her favorite sweets as well as a cherry flavored Capri sun. Which she thanked you by hugging your waist tightly.
Once again Ella saw a shadow of a smile flash on your face as you looked down at Alessia who was already tearing into the sweets.
Everyone in the room was shocked and staring at the two oblivious players, before you had caught them and sent a hard glare which had everyone turning back to the screen and focusing on the movie.
But that didn't stop Ella from occasionally looking back at you two from her spot on the floor. She nearly choked on her popcorn when she looked back and saw her best friend nearly half asleep. She looked about ready to doze off practically lying on top of you cuddling into you. While you were watching the movie and mindlessly running your fingers through her hair.
Ella found it weird to see you so... domesticated? When all she was used to seeing was you being an absolute terror on the field.
And for a split second Ella worried that if Alessia was catching feelings for their British Stormcloud. Like she knew opposites attract but would this have been a bit of a stretch? Alessia was a literal ball if sunshine while she didn't know if you could really maintain a relationship outside of soft moments.
That doubt was immediately eradicated from her mind at their next Man United match.
Manchester United was playing against Arsenal. The fans always loved watching you guys play. But they loved watching you clash with Arsenal's Katie McCabe. Both of you were just so physical on the field that they loved to watch you clash.
It seemed anytime the team's played each other you and McCabe practically marked each other.
But you were having a phenomenal game. McCabe just couldn't seem to touch you today. You already had a goal to your name and had assisted Alessia. And it seemed that McCabe was starting to get frustrated with you which was making her more reckless. Which was just making you smirk the entire game.
But it wasn't until she went up for challenge against Alessia.
Alessia had jumped up for a header but McCabe had gone up for a late challenge. However, McCabe had collided with Alessia's lower half which ultimately ended up taking the legs out from under her. Leading to Alessia landing awkwardly and dangerously close to her head.
You were the first one over by Alessia's side as she stayed down holding her head. You had crouched down and checked on her which she stayed and held her head in pain.
But the second Ella had come over and you tasked her with looking after the blonde. She had seen the change in your eyes.
She along with all the fans knew there was a change in the weather.
See there was a reason they called you the British Stormcloud. And it wasn't just because of your hardened facade. It was also because of your changes in your mood.
Cloudy was your normal state were you seemed to tolerate most people.
Rain was when you were in a foul mood and was best to avoid until you were feeling better.
Then was your worst stage Thunderstorm
When you were in your Thunderstorm state God help the oppositing team because you are ruthless. When you play normally you act as a kind of enforcer for the team but when they're in your Thunderstorm state you're ten times worse. No one is safe from you. Your tackles become somewhat reckless but weirdly still precise.
But right now you were seeing red
Particularly the red of McCabes jersey as you stormed her down.
McCabe had stumbled not expecting the shrug to her back. She barely had time to recover as she turned around only to have you grip her shoulder. She swore she could feel her feet nearly leave the ground as she tries to pull herself out of your hold.
"That was a bad tackle and you know it" You growled out as the Irish woman stares at you wide eyed.
You can vaguely feel several hands grab you to try and pull you away but you easily shrug them off. It wasn't until you felt someone grip at the front of your jersey and push you back that you snapped out of your tunnel vision rage.
"Relax Stormy" Leah whispers in your ear. To everyone else it looks like she's trying to defend her teammate. But really she was trying to calm you don't before you did something that got you in serious trouble. "You need to back off right now".
You could recognize that despite being on different team she was using her captain voice letting you know she was serious.
"Look" Leah nodded her head behind you. "She's okay".
You risk a quick glance over your shoulder to see Alessia is now sitting up and talking to the medic. But ultimately seems fine. Even going so far as to flash you a small smile.
You let out a small huff almost disappointed at the idea of having to restrain yourself. But you let go of McCabe jersey (not without a 'little' push). "Watch yourself" you snarl as you walk away ignoring the warning you get from the ref.
You make your way back over to the fallen blonde and offer her out your hand which she happily takes. "You good?"
She nods, "Yeah I'm good".
You scan her quickly trying to see any hints of a lie. But thankfully you find none. You run your hand over the top of her head soothingly almost to assure yourself that she was truly okay as well as brush some hairs behind her ear.
"Good" you say before your hand trails down to squeeze her arm gently. "Now let's go bury them". Alessia can't help but let out a laugh as she follows you.
You buried them so deep no one would find the body.
You came straight out of the gates with a goal. And then went on to assist both Alessia and Ella. No one was safe from your overwhelming physicality. It got to the point Leah and Beth were the only ones brave enough to go near you.
When the whistle blows, you smirk as McCabe is barely able to shake your hand before she scuttles off.
But your smirk is wiped off when you see Alessia bounce over to you. When Alessia jumps onto you, she lets out a squeal as you playfully swing her around. When you put her down she nuzzles her face into the crook of your shoulder while you place a subtle kiss onto the top of her head which nearly has Ella's eyes bulging out of her head.
They had stayed out and talked to fans before the numbers eventually started to dwinkle and they headed inside for showers.
However when Ella came out of her shower she was met with a surprise.
You were smiling and peppering kisses across Alessia's face.
Alessia was perched on your lap poking fun at you as you smiled a proper smile at her.
"Guy!" Ella shrieks alerting the other girls still in the dressing rooms. "It's actually happening! Get out here!"
"What's up Tooney?" Mary asks as she comes out of the showers.
"Look at that!" Ella exclaims as she points at you and Alessia. Everyone's eyes widened at the sight.
No one says a word, so you decide to say something.
"I told you" you sing into Alessia's ear which earns you a light slap on the arm. "Told you they would react like that".
"Shut up" Alessia mumbles as she nudges her head against yours.
"H-how? Just how?" Ella stutters out still not able to process what's happening in front of her.
"Well" you smirk as Alessia lets out a groan knowing what your about to say. You squeeze her waist as you press a kiss to her clothed shoulder. "miss clumsy here toupled into me and not only fell for me but also took me down with her".
"And then while she was busy rambling about how sorry she was she noticed how close we were and let slip how she wanted to kiss me". Alessia hid her face in your shoulder as you chuckled. "So I kissed her and now we're here".
"How long?" Millie asked.
"Just after the Euro's win" Alessia answers but is confused when Ella and Mary share a wicked grin.
"What?" Alessia asked as you raise an eyebrow at them.
Ella gives you a wide teasing smile. "You've gone softtttttttt" Ella sings as Mary bursts out laughing with a nod.
It's almost scary how quick your face reverts back to it's stoney gaze.
But under the renewed confidence of you dating her best friend, Ella continues. "Don't even try it!" Ella shouts with a grin. "You've been so soft recently! You were ready to kill McCabe for tackling Alessia!'
You narrow your eyes at her. "So what's stopping me from doing that to you right now?" You ask.
Ella wiggles her eyebrows at you as everyone laughs at your antics. "Because you're a total softie now!" She waves her hand at the pair of you. "You are literally cuddling her right now!"
Without a word, you stand up causing Alessia to let out a yelp as you lift her with you. You gently placed her back in your cubie with a quick kiss on her forehead before you turned and stalked towards Ella.
Her eyes widened as she started backpedaling away from you. "We should change your nickname" she teases. "Something more soft".
Ella starts weaving in between your teammates as you chase her down with a growl. "How about Teddy? Like Teddy Bear?"
She just about narrowly dodges you as you lunge for her. Emboldened, she continues to taunt you. "How about Pillow? I'd say Less would like that one alright".
Everyone roars in laughter again and Alessia blushes heavily as you chase Ella out of the dressing room. Alessia's eyes widen when she hears a massive thump coming from the hallway.
"Yeah I better go make sure she doesn't kill Tooney" she mumbles before speeding out of the dressing room after her girlfriend and best friend.
It's only later when you're gone for your own shower does Ella feel safe enough to slap Alessia arm. "How could you?"
Alessia's face morphs into a frown as she rubs where she slapped her. "Look I'm really sorry for not telling y-"
But Ella shakes her head rapidly. "Not that!" She waves off immediately. "You picked the one person who if I even attempted to give the shovel talk to she would quite possibly hit me with an actual shovel! How the hell am I meant to threaten her not to hurt you when she could probably drop kick me across the field!".
Alessia smiles relived that her best friend wasn't mad at her for not telling her about her relationship or for the fact she was dating you.
"Looks like it's up to your brothers Lessi" Millie jokes. But before she could respond you're already answering walking out of the showers.
"We've already tried. They got scared and quit half way through".
