Obscure Far Cry Promos and Content

I'm a big far cry fan, which means I have to make my own food in this economy. But sometimes I just want some ACTUAL canon or canon-ish or even just canon-adjacent content, y'know? It has gotten to the point I go into youtube rabbit holes or watch a remarkably below average hallmark movies for 5 minutes of an actor's screentime to hopefully hear Jason or Ajay or whoever talk. Far Cry: Esperanza's Tears comic // this is a Juan-centric prequel comic that features a completely new country, lore about Far Cry universe's political landscape, and lots of cameos from 3-6's characters! very interesting read especially if you're a sucker for backstories like me

Far Cry: Rite of Passage comic // this is more popular as it features Anton telling Diego the backstories for 3-5's villains.

There is also a book titled The Official Far Cry Survival Guide written by a fictional character called Hunter Nash, who supposedly grew up with Hope County-level of a doomsday prepper dad and winds up as a journalist who travels to the locations of 3-6 and wrote how to survive each location accordingly. It's adorned with official artwork of the games and plenty of survival tips. Not much lore-wise, but cool nonetheless! it also fuels my co-workers au ideas but that's personal.

i have actually found stuff like a really old MTV show called Undressed with Gianpaolo Venuta where he uses his Jason voice for his character, and how Patrick Kwok-Choon, the new voice actor for Ajay does voice acting in Thomas the Train Engine and Paw Patrol, and an indie movie with Greg Bryk where he wears fun sunglasses like Joseph, but that's neither here nor there to the franchise, so eh. // i'll edit this post if i find more, so maybe check back sometimes!

Could we get Vaas sending Liv out of the camp because of Hoyt coming down. She goes out to see the doc and gets some pictures of him and his home. Cue Vaas getting jealous of her pictures of Doc!

No Minors Allowed!!

"Hoyt is coming here? Why?" Liv asked, raising a curious brow. 

She tried not to let it show, but she was terrified. Since meeting him, she never wanted to be put in a situation where she'd have to see him again, but of course, things didn't always work out the way she wanted them to - her new life on the Rook Islands was an example of this. 

Carlos sighed. He understood her worry, he didn't much like Hoyt or his Privateers, but her questions were unnecessary. 

"It doesn't fucking matter. We're not going to be here."

Liv was more confused than ever, but as if the pirate knew what she was about to ask, he quickly answered.

"El Jefe (the boss) is sending us on a run to the doctor's house."

This must be a drug run.

The only time Vaas sent someone to Doctor Earnhardt's place was to buy drugs from him, though Liv never went to see him for that reason. She wondered if Vaas was sending her there because of Hoyt's sudden visit. Her stomach was in knots. She wasn't sure how to feel about this. 

"Can I grab my camera before we go?"

"Hurry the fuck up," Carlos retorted in annoyance. 

He honestly didn't mind. As long as she stayed out of his business, then he was content. Giving her back her camera was probably the best idea Vaas had when it came to Liv. At least she wasn't annoying Carlos. 

With her Olympus in tow, she got into the Scavenger and tinkered with the settings as Carlos drove her to the doctor's house. Liv was beyond excited; the land around the mansion was gorgeous. 

She spent hours running around the grounds within sight of Carlos, taking pictures. Doctor Earnhardt was a bit strange, but always so kind to her, sometimes mistaking her name as Agnes, which she didn't mind. It almost saddened her to say goodbye to him and return to the outpost. 

Liv was on cloud 9 as she sat beside Yada at an unoccupied table beneath one of the huts. It was almost time to eat thankfully, so she waited with him as Carlos went to check in with Vaas. 

"Why are you so damn happy?" Yada asked. 

Was she not allowed to be? 

"Good day," Liv uttered. 

"Lucky fucking you. We had to deal with Hoyt and his stuck-up putas (bitches)," Yada mentioned. 

Liv would have felt bad for them, only the Pirates could handle it. She wondered if Vaas was in a terrible mood; she wanted to view her pictures on the laptop. It was probably best if she waited.

After dinner, she sauntered to the trailer that Vaas stayed in and knocked on the door, knowing better than to just walk in. 

"Fuck off!" He shouted in response. 

Liv tightened her jaw. She reckoned that he was in a bad mood. With an uneasy breath, she clutched her camera right. 

"Thank you!"

She turned to walk away, but the sound of the door slamming open startled her, drawing her attention to the pirate. Her first response was to avert her eyes, due to his half-naked appearance; his shirt was missing, and his pants were nearly hanging off his hips. The dark circles beneath his eyes were more prominent, making her assume that he had been trying to sleep. 

Liv felt her face heat up. 

"The fuck are you thanking me for?" Vaas asked in confusion. 

"For allowing me to go with Carlos to see Alec," Liv answered quietly. She lifted her camera. "I took some pictures. Um… I left you a note before I borrowed it from your room." 

Vaas ordered her inside, despite the look of annoyance on his face. He considered turning her away since he wasn't in the mood, but the content and embarrassed look on her face wasn't one he was used to seeing. She mostly tried to hide her fear, remaining quiet in his presence unless spoken to. 

As she walked in, Vaas shut the door behind her and grabbed the laptop, tossing it on the bed before he lay down. He watched Liv grab the cable, sitting down on the edge beside him where he could see the scene. 

One by one, once booted, the images appeared on the screen. Liv was in awe of them, even the ones of Doctor Earnhardt that she took. A specific one of him sitting at his chair by the window made her smile. He looked comfortable, maybe even a little high. 

"You like him?" Vaas suddenly asked. 

Liv raised a brow.

"Alec? He's sweet… Though sometimes he's a bit unorthodox. But I like him enough."

"Enough to fuck him?" Vaas asked. 

Where was this coming from? Liv wasn't sure what to say. She peered over at him, seeing his eyes narrowed on the screen. There was no way he could have been jealous of the doctor. Vaas might be bipolar but she had never seen him show signs of jealousy toward Alec before. 

Is it because of me?

Liv sighed. How was she meant to defuse this? Turning her eyes back to the laptop, she searched for an image and then turned it into a background image, lying down beside him; the laptop rested on her stomach.

"This is by far my favorite picture on the island."

It was a picture of Vaas sitting on the beach with the sun on his back, making him appear almost like an angel. 

Or a demon. 

"The lighting is flawless," Liv uttered as she hovered her fingers over the screen, showing him the way it cascaded over him. "And so are you. Guapo (handsome), no?"

"¡Mierda (shit)! You know how to play the game," Vaas stated with a grin. "Always kissing my ass."

He put his fingers to his lips to emphasize his point. 

Liv snorted in response. 

She wasn't lying. Vaas was the most handsome demon she had ever seen.

Here's to hoping he doesn't attack Alec for this.

A review of the “Far Cry Timeline”

I realized that there was a page dedicated to the series’ timeline on the Far Cry Wiki, so I decided to review it because… I just couldn’t help myself.

GREEN: Correct information and date.

BLUE: Probably correct but needs to be confirmed.

PINK: Correct information but wrong date (see this post).

ORANGE: Pure fan speculation (date and/or information).

RED: Incorrect information and/or date.

PURPLE: Far Cry and Far Cry 2 lore. I haven’t played these games yet so I can’t tell if the information is accurate.

c.10,000 BCE

Three tribes, the Wenja, Udam, and Izila settle in the region of present-day Central Europe known as Oros, sparking conflict for resources and territory. The events of Far Cry Primal occur, culminating in the Udam, the last Neanderthals, going extinct soon after.

500 BCE

The Chal Jama Monastery is built in Kyrat.

15th century

In the 15th century, the Chinese navigator and explorer Zheng He passed by the Rook Islands during a voyage to map the oceans. It was an ideal location for one of Zheng He's most trusted soldiers, Lin Cong. After Zheng He left the isles, Lin Cong stole one of Zheng He's colossal treasure ships named "the Chaoyang" (containing massive amounts of gold and treasure that were collected during Zheng He's many ocean voyages).

Lin Cong and his Chinese invaders ruled over Rook Islands where the natives suffered under their tyrannical reign.

Rook Islands were free from them when the Rakyat rebelled and a vengeful Zheng He returned to stop Lin Cong treachery. Lin Cong died and his faction was destroyed.

The Silver Dragon was buried with Lin Cong body in his entrapped and dragon-infested tomb.

1759

The Shanath Arena is built in Southern Kyrat.

1819

Lieutenant Robert F. Barclay of the British Army set sail to Kyrat.

The British colonize Kyrat.

Pagan Min found the last Kyrat royal heir for Mohan

Pagan Min and Yuma Lau sided with the Royalists at first but later that year betrayed them when his Mercenaries and the Royalists seized the Royal Palace and Pagan killed the royal heir, and took his place as King of Kyrat. He then turned his mercenaries on Mohan’s men before they could know they were in danger killing many. Leaving Mohan to escape with just a handful of survivors.

First Kyrati Civil War ended in Kyrat with Nationalists defeated, Royalists purged, last royal heir assassinated and Pagan Min became the new self proclaimed king.

Golden Path is founded

Second Kyrati Civil War begins.

The events of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon occur.

2008

Between September 17 and October 30, a series of 17 tapes were recorded between The Jackal and Reuben Oluwagembi on the subject of the Jackal's motives.

Sometime in the latter half of 2008, the events of Far Cry 2 take place.

Antón Castillo was diagnosed with acute leukemia.

Diego Castillo was born in Yara.

Late 2010’s

Alternate universe, movie, or non-canon events

Guy Marvel tells people about his ideas for zombie movies. The events of Dead Living Zombies takes place.

2012

Four people, Leonard, Mikhail, Callum, and Tisha get scammed out of their money by Vaas' pirates while working to redeem themselves on a cruise ship. They soon turned against the pirates.

Six months later, a group of young adults parachute onto the Rook Islands by mistake and many get captured. Jason Brody helps the locals lead a revolution against Vaas' Pirates, free his friends, and deal with a slave trader named Hoyt Volker. The events of Far Cry 3 (including all DLC missions) take place.

2014

Ajay Ghale goes to Kyrat to spread his mother’s ashes and while visiting either stayed with Pagan Min or ends up helping the locals lead a rebellion against him. In the latter case, the country doesn’t improve much after the government is overthrown. The events of Far Cry 4 (including The Syringe Mission, Escape from Durgesh Prison and Hurk's Redemption) take place.

Yuma Lau sends an Expedition made of Royal Guard forces, lead by Colonel Sandesh to a Kyrat Valley looking for a relic that could cause immortality, but don't return to Kyrat.

Darpan dies in all cases.

Antón Castillo is elected as El Presidente of Yara, promising to "Rebuild Paradise."

Alternate universe, movie, or non-canon events

Ajay’s helicopter crashes in the Himalayas, he later gets involved with a cult group known as the Disciples (the Royal Guard forces Yuma sent to the Valley) and a unique relic.

2018

Alternate universe or non-canon events:

Carmina Rye is born the same day or few days before the Collapse.

A group of police officers attempt to arrest Project at Eden's Gate leader Joseph Seed, they either spared him and left early, or actually arrested him and got overwhelmed by his cult. In the latter case, after most are captured, The Junior Deputy helps the locals lead The Resistance against the doomsday cult and take back Hope County. The events of Far Cry 5 take place.

After the 'Resist' ending of Far Cry 5, the world suffers a nuclear war, known to some as the Collapse (however, with the release of Far Cry 6 which apparently takes places in a contemporary setting, the Collapse might prove to be an alternative timeline, no longer followed by the next game.)

In two other endings where they do not arrest Joseph at the beginning or at the end, it's unclear what exactly happened.

In Guy Marvel's epic sci-fi film, Nick Rye and Hurk get sent to Mars to deal with the threat of an invasion. The events of Lost On Mars take place.

2021

Dani Rojas has a conversation with their friends Lita Torres and Alejo Ruiz on the rooftops of Esperanza. A blackout takes place as Fuerzas Nacionales de Defensa soldiers pour into the city block. Alejo insults Antón Castillo and throws a can at a soldier, resulting in said soldier murdering him. Dani and Lita escape to a boat heading out of the country. A young boy attempts to board but is denied until Dani vouches for him. Before the ship can sail off, Antón catches it in an attempt to retrieve his son, Diego; the young boy attempting to flee. Antón then orders his soldiers to execute everybody else on the ship. Dani just barely survives, and wakes up to Lita dying on the beach. She gives Dani her phone and asks them to seek out the revolutionary group she was affiliated with, Libertad. Dani obliges to honor their fallen friends. The events of Far Cry 6 take place during October.

2022

Three months after Dani Rojas sails away from Yara, they rest on a Miami beach and listen to the radio. The death of Clara Garcia at the hands of Antón Castillo's special forces has snuffed out the revolution in Yara.

2035

Alternate universe, movie, or non-canon events:

In the 'Resist' ending of Far Cry 5, the world suffered a nuclear war known as the Collapse. 17 years after the nuclear war the Highwaymen terrorize the citizens of Prosperity. The locals and the remnants of Project at Eden’s Gate, New Eden, fight back against the Highwaymen’s leaders, Mickey and Lou. The events of Far Cry New Dawn take place.

2058

The whereabouts of The Jackal are to be declassified.

I wonder, do any of the Far Cry muses know how to dance? If so, what styles of dance do they know?

~` Far Cry 3 ~` Earnhardt - Can 100% tango, those kinds of classical dances that are kinda slow. S O good at it.

Vaas - Considering that Far Cry 3 (and I did a brief bit of research on this so I might fuck it up) takes place near Indonesia, the dances listed here would be ones Vaas is very familiar with.

Hoyt - If it is to be believed that Hoyt was born in South Africa, then these dances are what he is most familiar with and is willing to teach!

Sam - Having spent a LOT of time in Germany (especially as a kid when he'd moved to Germany) he got to learn a lot of the traditional dances. Schuhplattler is what he's best at. (Video of it here)

~` Far Cry 5 ~` Faith - Tends to do spin dancing! (Mostly because of what he does in game a lot) but she's amazing at it.

Joseph - Tango and waltz is what he knows best and that's only because he was taught by Annabelle on how to do them.

Nick - Dancing? He only knows embarrassing ones for his family.

Sharky - Same as Nick, only does embarrassing ones.

Annabelle - Tango and waltzes are her favourite types to dance and the ones she had taught Joseph. She'd waltzed with Joseph on their wedding day.

Everett - ALSO the same as Nick and Sharky, though he has a lot more fun with it than embarrassing. Mostly done while playing his guitar.

Miller - Country dances are most common with Miller. Simple, wild, but he has his fun!

~` Far Cry New Dawn ~` Rush - He does his best to keep the 'old world' dances going! Tango, waltzes, etc are what he keeps alive.

~` Far Cry 6 ~` Diego - To not be a disappointment to his father, he's had to learn many dances. Though originating from Cuba, they persist even in Yara.
