The actual color of Vaas’ eyes and pants (plus his deleted tattoo)

I was looking for a clear picture of Sam Becker’s tattoos and stumbled upon thePWA’s DeviantArt account. This user uploaded the 3D models of five Far Cry 3 characters: Vaas, Buck, Sam, Liza, and Hoyt, and provided links to download them.

Unfortunately, when I opened the “sam_tattoos” texture file, it was just a gray image. I don’t know if Photoshop simply isn’t the right program for this or if there’s something wrong with the extracted file, but in any case, I couldn’t see his tattoos... If anyone here has the texture or knows how this can be fixed, I would really appreciate your help :/

However, since I had them too, I looked at Vaas’ textures and, interestingly, the tattoo he had in one of the trailers is included! I’ve already talked about it here (I still like this theory), and I suppose the fact it’s available in the files suggests it was removed quite late into development.

I also wanted to see his eyes and pants because most people depict him with dark green/brown eyes and dark green/khaki pants (even Ubisoft themselves, as demonstrated in the Insanity DLC). This is mainly due to the fact his appearance changed over time and he did, at some point and in promotional material, have green/brown pants and eyes, but since they’ve always looked light blue-gray to me instead in the final version of the game, I wanted a definite answer.

So here is his (deleted) tattoo, as well as his in-game iris and pants:

I know I am late af to this but I SERIOUSLY ADORE THE CATIFIED CHARACTERS SM LMFAOOOO we ever thought about Vaas, Hoyt, Buck, Sam, etc for these cat designs 👀 👀 👀

so, funny story: I actually DO have a Vaas design ! It was for a drawing I was going to make of 3 of the antagonists, so I warmed up with these little doodles a while ago:

I later redrew PAWCRY with Antón, and Pagan's designs had some tweaks ! (Joseph's too, I think - Joey you stupid stupid man and your incredibly long list of crimes💖) But I never actually drew the thing I was planning to. I might in the future !

As for other characters, a Liza design is coming soon, and here's my Jason design, coming from a shitpost I made, but never posted as I felt it wouldn't be taken too kindly as it poked fun at Jason lol

I don't design FC3 characters that much, but I do really like Dr. Earndheart which I might do, as he's just a sweet old guy. 3 isn't my favorite game, so there's not much for me to draw. If you want the characters you listed I'll draw Sam in a bit ! I have no idea in my mind what Buck or Hoyt would even look like, but if you have an idea I'd like to hear it !

And if you want others please leave more rqs ! I love drawing other people's goobers regardless of my taste or not, and it seems like you have a lot of them (/pos) so lmk if you want more !💖

Liza's writing is so interesting to me because it feels like she was written to anticipate the kind of audience response characters like her typically get. Despite the Citra-Jason vision of her as a controlling normie screaming about deleting all your progress its very deliberately nothing like she actually behaves in game. Outside of the stressful escape and a couple of passing comments in general she's incredibly patient with Jason and as supportive of him as he'll let her be. It skirts the easy "psycho bitch" archetype that a lot of players might attempt to cast her as

As a result though I think the pendulum swings way too far the other way and she winds up reacting like a goddamn alien to certain things. Most egregious example is when Jason starts talking about staying and how he's found his place here. Her reaction is not "what are you talking about you're literally enrolled in guerilla warfare what are we supposed to tell our parents also I'm pretty sure these are just crimes". Its "you're all grown up now, I've been waiting for this to happen, and now you're leaving me!!"! Like....girl is this him growing up your boyfriend is out in the bushes hunting pirates for bloodsport I don't think this was the maturation you had in mind back when he was whining about you liking your job too much....
