🌹 core beliefs 🌻

i have a deep admiration for the elements at every conceivable level. it sounds silly but everything in between the way particles “sing”, to the way clothes feel, to the way we use water to produce energy all have an influence on my beliefs. it makes me mindful seeing how they all connect and seeing myself live as part of them. i thank them often.

divination has found its way into my life in countless ways. i think the way almost all cultures have the desire to tell the future unites us as a species. we want to warn each other about things or give each other hope and i think thats beautiful.

im not necessarily religious, but i do revere multiple iterations of what we define as the “spirit”. i believe if enough people believe in something it makes it real, so i’ve decided to show a common courtesy to everything our species has deemed significant. my personal opinions on whether god is real or if anyone can burn sage aren’t very important in the grand scheme of how our species prays or refuses to. i’d just like to bear witness.

🍄 practice 🐚

cooking is a gorgeous form of worship. i see the elements in the ingredients i use and the way fire metabolizes them. i use soups and teas as remedies. i see the stories of our species in every plate i put together. some day i hope the elements allow me to grow my own ingredients.. but i’ve had no such gardening luck yet, haha.

i pick up bugs, i go camping and let only my understanding of open fire determine if i get to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. i swim and hike and let the earth move me, not the other way around. i let myself get too cold and i let myself melt in the sun. i go outside because its raining. i hope the creatures i see tell me a little about themselves, dead or alive. its a passionate relationship.

im trying to listen to my gut. whether im holding a tarot deck, a tea cup, staring at smoke, or dreaming, im trying to let something other than what i can see teach me. im not currently good at feeling my feelings or translating in the name of energy, but i can hear what people don’t say and i get impulses that always lead me in a good direction for my growth. now, i just wanna learn how to do it with a little more intention.

i think thats why im on this planet- not that i believe we need a reason. i want to leave it better than i found it, so i love my friends, i love my enemies, i love myself and thats enough.

i want long curly mermaid hair that hugs my shoulders, but i also want a big ‘ol afro massive enough to create a gravitational pull on nearby objects, and i want pin-straight hair in a high ponytail that makes me look like a bitchy blonde secretary with an equestrian hobby, but i also want a buzz cut with a built-in alarm clock and when i hear it i shoot out of bed, march into the forest, and photosynthesize.

i want to dye it deep purple and green like some ornate water fowl, but also a deep red proportionate with the blood of my enemies, or maybe a pink and blue pastel balayage that reminds me to always eat dessert first.

i want oxford shoes in black and white, or in tan, with smart little stitches, but i also want gladiator sandals that make people think i might have armor on until they get close enough to be stopped, and i want loud sneakers made, not for concrete, but for two pairs of wheels under them, and i also want boots so long i can throw out all my pants, but i also want velvet combat boots, and really classy black high heels sharp enough to raise the dead.

i really want an entire closet of white linen clothes so i can always have that dumb rich lady look on my face, but i also want draping lace blouses the sun can shine through when i jump over that creek in my latin childhood, and i want crop tops that make my neck more attractive than my boobs, but i also want the boobs. maybe, i even want them to peek out of the bottom a little bit.

i want stiff shirt collars, no collars, and dog collars with the y2k spikes, and i want my heart shaped buttons to have a tense conversation with the mouth of my gold plated zippers. i need a harness that reminds you i can be moved, but only if you’re clever enough to know i don’t mean physically.

i want tight skirts that blur a movie screen so that you hear them before you see them, and long pleated skirts to tuck in all my dress shirts and sweaters so that i give off a vibe of innocence, but my lipstick begs to differ, and i want shiny rubber pants, but then id have a lot of power, and with power comes responsibility for things i’ve only considered dabbling in once or ten times.

i want a bespoke suit that throws out the idea of boobs all together, and i want it in a green so dark the forests will whisper “i’m home”, or a blue so soft the sky will give up. i also want it in the classic black with guns and knives hidden in all the pockets along with a glass-etching laser, a box with a single cigarette left inside, and a crumbled up note with ten or so smudged digits.

i want a satin dress that knows everything about me and kind of blinds you while i sing on a stage, but i also want a soft cotton long sleeve dress that trails the ground like flame at an overlord’s footsteps, and i want a dress with my african ancestry screaming in every vivid thread as it comforts me with the willingness to cry about how beautiful life is.

i’d like to smell like roses, but like real ones that you sometimes find dew, or the occasion bug, on, and i want to smell like vanilla and laughter, but i also want to smell like sawdust and cold air that dries out your eyes. i want to smell like sex and sugar while holding a murderous look in my eyes like the evil people in soap operas, and i want to smell like fireworks and dynamite so you know i’m coming from a mile away, or i want a smell that embodies the ocean and makes you want to swim for your life without forgetting the salt that brought you here in the first place.

is all the anaerobically processed 100% sustainable organic premium soil mix Magic Dirt?

Where the fuck is it? I was excited to buy it online directly from the company, but on their website they just describe their products with no prices and say “Request us at a local gardening supply store!”

First off, no??? And what, bestow the possibility of my existence into the mind of another entire human being on the internet??? Disgusting.

Second of all, I can’t be the only person around here who wants it so lemme just search near by. Walmart supposedly carries it. Nice. Let’s go to Walmart.

Honestly, that was my first real mistake. Lowes and Home Depot don’t carry Magic Dirt, none of the cool plant shops carry it- like, I’ve always know better than to give Walmart the benefit of the doubt, why would I fuckin start now??? $9 bag of dirt??? They’d have to call themselves Whole Foods.

Anyway, they didn’t have it even though online it’s all like “yo mami, you wanna piece of this? curbside, baby, tonight!” but whatever.

So, I get home and search Magic Dirt in every. possible. way. shape. and mode. I can think of to get different results for availability, or even some shitty online retailer that marks up the price- nothing. I go on incognito so the browser doesn’t use my location or recently viewed- nothing. I go on my laptop- nothing???

I have to find a new soil. Even thought it took me days of studying and researching what makes good soil to find Magic Dirt, I must now deny the knowledge that Magic Dirt is the superior brand for me, and settle for something readily available.

I’m looking for 100% sustainable, organic, perlite/vermiculite-free, neutral pH soil.

Any fuckin ideas?

Homemade Fertilizer attempt No. 1

What up fuckers, so I broke it the fuck down chemically and heres how imma make my homemade fertilizers:

I’ll have 5 separate bottles for nitrogen and potassium, phosphorus, magnesium and sulfur, iron, and calcium

Boiled banana peels for nitrogen and potassium

Mulled nuts like almonds and pecans for phosphorus

Powdered eggs shells for calcium

Epsom Salt for magnesium and sulfur

Hear me the fuck OUT so everyone keeps saying their period blood is magical for their plants and like I don’t know if I’m willing to harvest such a thing but I’m definitely considering it cause where the FUCK else am I getting a pure source of iron OTHER than like... a n o t h e r animal’s blood? or some other plants that doesn’t have nearly as high a concentration? send help.

an overall ingredient these will all have is cinnamon as bug repellent, black tea because the tannins help the roots absorb nutrients immediately, and some ash for the carbon ratio.

Say hello to the fam!

I haven’t named them yet, but, from top to bottom and left to right, I have lace leaf, globe amaranth, a bromeliad, a monstera (my prized child), a zz, my derpy aloe (the neighbor’s dog peed in for months unbeknownst to me), what I’m under the impression is devil’s ivy, and what I like to call “the jungle.”

The jungle has a 15 year old aloe, three lady finger cacti from my mom, three tiger aloes, a cute rosy sedum variety, and my spiky chin cactus boi... maybe girl... not sure yet, but it’s serving me gendered vibes.

Today I’m repotting the jungle into a shallower pot because the same night after I repotted them I found out they don’t like deep soil because it stays wet for too long... and I feel like I didn’t add enough perlite. So, I bought a shallow pot, and in my now vacant deep pot I’m potting the swiss baby (monstera has a lot of names apparently) with some sweet peat moss mix.

Next I’m potting my globe amaranth into the not-too-basic terracotta the bromeliad is currently in because I heard the clay soaks up a lot of the water, which would normally be a problem, but globe amaranth is native to new mexico and likes a drought environment in full sunlight- and she’ll be cuuuute. The bromeliad is going into the pot the lace leaf is currently in cause I don’t want it to get much bigger and I like the gold against the white. The lace leaf is going in this ancient white ceramic pot my mom has had probably since before I was born... I’m 23, really think about it!

The derpy aloe, the zz, and the devil’s ivy are going to be quite happy where they are. Very excited to see how everyone likes their new spots. I’m starting the repotting process in about an hour, so if any of this is a bad idea I would love any and all botanists��� to speak now or forever hold their peace!
