Many musicians who prefer to take the wild turns tend to have a basis for that in their previous popularity. Scott Walker remains a great case of this, he is another one who used the shock as his tactic to confront those that made him popular. Still, I have to be honest as a fan of his, i.e. he did find his late style from Tilt on. True, The Drift and Bisch Bosch were tough listens, yet this only happened in the case one wasn't familiar with Tilt. The latter album established a pattern of sorts for Mr. Walker, since he moved within the soundscapes one cannot be certain how to call. Well, I would suggest seeing them as the soundtrack for nightmares without an easy way out. Yes, he still puts some hope in them, yet the latter has to be earned.

Shortly after finishing my #PerfumeWeek project, which combined daily perfume reviews with accompanying themed playlists, Imaginary Authors sent me a few more perfumes to play around with! Here we go, #PerfumeWeekPlus!

Whispered Myths smells of your lover’s longtime favorite novel. You bury your nose deep in its spine, hoping to catch a whiff of them, as familiar notes of aftershave and cologne waft up through its aged pages.

Whispered Myths is a classic blend—One for the archives. Its woody base of Cambodian oud, cedarwood, and muskdana is lightened by hints of cantaloupe and honey, softening the strong elemental perfume. Whispered Myths smells wonderfully historic, nearly antique, as if the blend spent decades maturing in wooden barrels before bottling. 

The cologne was inspired by the fictional tale of Azzam Issa, a security guard at The Louvre. Sleepless and disoriented, Azzam began to hear whispers throughout the museum: Gods, angels, mermaids and muses calling to him from inside the paintings, their souls trapped within ornate frames. Alasdair Malloy plays the rarely used Glass Harmonica on «Remote Galaxy» Op.81 with Ralph Rousseau, Vladimir Ashkenazy and Philharmonia Orchestra during the recording sessions for the Grammy-nominated album REMOTE GALAXY (2L). http://www.fjb.space/publishing/remotegalaxy81.html — The very first time I listened to the instruments glass harmonica and viola da gamba, I became instantly and immensely fascinated by their unique individual quality, and the auditory gap these two instruments fill in the gamut of existing instruments. They both hold a distinctive non-voluminous character, and demand acute treatment of balance both in scores and in performance. Not only do surroundings seem frailer around these instruments, but they may also seem further away, for example when the dynamics of "ppp" are skillfully carried out. I envisioned these special qualities from the very commencement of composing «Remote Galaxy» Op.81 – a work that is written especially for the musician Ralph Rousseau in mind, and particularly his openness to playing the viola da gamba outside the traditional frames of baroque practice. The viola da gamba is an instrument with bands, like a guitar. The seven strings on the instrument used in «Remote Galaxy» Op.81 provide the instrument with a very wide register, which corresponds aptly with the "atmospheric conditions" essential in this work. The glass harmonica could be described as representing a tender "mass" in the mentioned galaxy, and this instrument enhances the sense of claustrophobia or suffocation one might expect to feel outside the atmosphere; an oxygen bereft area where it seems impossible for human beings to breathe. The most notable thing that occurred with Pink Floyd since the 90's might have been a lack of the communication between the two camps. True, even calling them the two camps could be too much, because the group split into Waters and the rest. Still, they did eventually have a reunion at Live 8, though they didn't follow up this with a trip to a studio. However, something did happen to Gilmour as he finally finished his solo album On An Island afterwards. The latter doesn't include much of the Floyd personnel, though Richard Wright does appear on a couple of tracks there. Moreover, the entire disc does answer a surprising question – could David Gilmour function as a chill out musician? You see, I'm surprised no one remixed any of the tunes here for a Buddha Bar compilation.

Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush and Scott Walker's pace is slow in such a way that it makes each record by one of them a de facto comeback. O.K., the complaint about the regularity is no longer true for Scott Walker, because he is currently speeding up his work. No, he's not going to the realm of Bill Nelson, how that guy manages to do that much is a mystery, but the pauses between his LPs are not as large as they used to be. Then again, it could be that all his discs from The Drift on crystallized his sound, which could be described as, hm, yeah, uh, classical operatic industrial? Yes, even when we know what we are dealing with, it's hard to elucidate his idiom, it defies any sort of definition. However, one can notice he strives for a completely dynamic music, you can never be sure where he intends to take it. There is a sense his compositions inhabit the place that is neither assonant not dissonant, since it is suspended between the two.
