The Parkland Shooting Victims:  Alaina Petty

Alaina Joann Petty was a 14-year-old student living in Parkland, Florida. Described as bubbly and determined, Alaina’s family remember her love of crime shows, dogs and Spanish music, she loved helping others and was a member of several volunteering groups.

On 14th February 2018, Alaina was shot and killed during her English Class at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Nikolas Cruz, the shooter, was sentenced to life in prison for the massacre in which he murdered 17 people including Alaina, Cruz was 19 at the time.

Why where you so mad about this because shuri is your boss .When you would get the tiniest itty bitty problem in your work Shuri would make you stay for an extra hour to fix it. This was so hard for you due to you not wanting ANY contact with her.You could tell she was picking on you a week after the break .Why because due to this one girl named Daniya who messed up big time she took and and stole vibranuim and GAVE IT TO THE USA FOR FREE.Shuri was all like “no biggie your just going to have to work more and your demoted “. BUT you know you had like a grammar error in your paper shuri had made you do .Shuri got so made she gave you a whole ass speech on why that is bad for her look . Like be so fucking for real you ain’t say that to daniya but nah you want to say it to me . You where fucking tired of her ass picking on you so you decided to talk to her .

You where pissed but happy today you where going to expose your boss .You where kinda iffy though due to it being your 3 year work anniversary. over all you where happy knowing your besties where going to do something hella special for it . You decided to listen to something chill for your shower . You started your shower off playing “Just hold on where going home “ by drake you got the scent you wanted for today . It was Midnight Amber Glow” it was so calm and suddle . You got in the shower checking the time on your phone.

You Shuffled your playlist and that’s when you concert really started .Drake got crowd hype but now it started With Infurnami by Steve lacy . You sang the song with your heart and than you vibed the whole time .You sang your heart Due to this song meaning a lot to you .Sometimes you wonder is she still felt the same way about the song like the way you do. After you “World tour” you put on lotion body butter and shea moisturizer .You checked the time 8:35 am .

All you had to do was get dressed and that was you decided to wear a tanish white top and skirt the shirt was a long sleeve sweater material and your skirt was the same material and color as your shirt and you where a long midi skirt . You whore a tan coat and tan boots with a white purse and glasses .your makeup look was so simple but cute and your hair black and 30 inches straight .after make up hair and your outfit it was 8:55. You had to go, you knew your boss was going to be hella petty when you got there . Re: Alaina Huffman sharing vid from Austin… I like her as an actress, and I think she would be one of the better choices for Walker to cast as she actually has name recognition and some fans (and can convincingly play a character lol). But I kinda don’t wanna see her on the show bc I still remember her having Misha on her podcast a couple years back to whine about how poorly he was treated on SPN and do some Jared-defamation.

Okay, so I had to listen to the podcast (thanks for that), and I had to laugh because he talks about being in his van, so the hosts assume he's on set, but are surprised to learn he's just in his hometown! (Misha's unemployed days). Misha's also sad about not having employment post-SPN (no sympathy from me).

But yes, there's the standard trailer whining, whining about the hate from fans (though not really Jared-defamation), whining about the RA accusations that say he siphoned RA money for his own use (his mother's house... anyone?), etc.

Mostly, it was just really funny because they're acting like Misha's this big star - including Misha (this aired back in 2020), and to see where he is now feels a lot like Karma had a hand. Especially, at the end when asked about the biggest chip on his shoulder, he responded that being bored, sitting in his trailer for hours with nothing to do. Guess what Misha, you did have something to do. You had scenes and character work to occupy your time. The fact that you didn't is on you.

But, I wouldn't necessarily blame Alaina for MIsha's whining. I find he whines anytime he has a platform to do so, and I didn't really hear the hosts join in, rather they were mostly doing the audio equivalent of smiling and nodding.

Alaina Petty was a passionate member of her JROTC program "She would always make sure her uniform was just perfect, not because she had to, but because she cared that much" Alaina's enduring passion for the class did not go unnoticed, as she was promoted to sergeant, the highest rank a freshman could receive and was awarded Cadet of the Month during the second quarter.

"She came in with such professionalism, such curiosity... both in and out of uniform. From the moment she walked into the room she was destined to be a leader in the program... she was more than a participating cadet, she wanted to do everything," Major Peter Mahmood said. 

 From then on the whole class would joke that Alaina would most certainly end up as the battalion commander by her senior year, commanding over the entirety of the program as the highest rank a high schooler could achieve.

Nikolas Cruz bought the AR-15 that he used to kill 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School because it was “cool-looking.” That’s what he told a Broward Sheriff’s detective, according to court documents.

It was cool-looking.

Cruz’s trial isn’t over yet. The prosecution has rested, and the defense is making its case against the death penalty, after his guilty plea. But even as the jury continues its heartbreaking job, one so agonizing it would be beyond the endurance of many, the AR-15-style gun marketed as “America’s rifle” continues to plague us all.

Cruz chose the same style of weapon as the shooter in Uvalde, the one in Las Vegas, the one at Pulse in Orlando, the one at Sandy Hook, the one in Buffalo, the one in Highland Park, Illinois. These are guns that trace their roots to the Vietnam War. They’re designed to kill lots of people and to look pretty much the same as ones used in the military.

It makes us numb, that list of shootings. But how many of us would still feel that way — could still feel that way — if we’d seen what the jurors in the Cruz trial have had to see? They don’t have the luxury of averting their eyes from the carnage. They can’t duck from the reality of what this country allows: Cruz purchased his weapon legally.

That has to change.

The graphic photos of human beings’ destruction — the tiny entrance wound, the gaping, obscene exit wound — were shielded from the public, considered too awful for most of us to contemplate. But the jurors deciding Cruz’s fate had to see them. Reporters covering the case also viewed them, including David Ovalle.

Ovalle is the Miami Herald’s veteran court reporter. He’s seen some of the worst things that humans can do to each other. But even he struggled to comprehend the horrific damage depicted in the photos.

“For me, the exit wounds were so jarring to view,” he said. “It’s hard to even describe them, because the descriptions of gaping wounds, ragged flesh and deep-red-colored holes just don’t do enough to convey the devastation caused by these weapons of war.”

He talked about one boy, shot eight times, with exit wounds on his forearm — “a massive hole of ragged flesh” — and one of his legs. And about a girl, lying on the floor in front of a classroom lectern, “her eyes wide open as if she’s in pain, her mouth slightly open.” The side of her head is missing, her brain pulverized by a high-velocity bullet.

None of us should have to know about the damage that high-velocity bullets can do. And yet, as the shootings continue, so many of us do.

‘Snowstorm’ of damage Medical examiners have offered more grim lessons during this trial. They told jurors that the bullets that AR-15-style weapons use are created to inflict massive internal damage. Forensic pathologists testified about how the bullets tore through flesh and hit bone, creating a “snow storm” of bullet fragments peppering the person’s insides, often fatally.

As former Broward chief medical examiner Craig Mallak described it, “It’s a very small bullet, but it’s moving at 3,000 feet per second. There’s so much energy with these bullets. It just tears skin, bones, organs.” It’s a path 20 times to 30 times the size of the actual bullet, he said.

He performed the autopsy on 14-year-old Cara Loughran, who suffered three wounds: one small entry wound to the left upper back and two gaping exit wounds in the upper chest.

One bullet entered the rib area of 14-year-old Alaina Petty. “After that, the bullet was fragmented into multiple fragments that perforated the lungs, liver, kidney and exits on the left lateral side of the torso,” Associate Medical Examiner Iouri Boiko testified.

Meadow Pollack’s wounds were catastrophic. The 18-year-old was shot seven times, one fracturing her spine. A bullet that grazed her opened a five-inch gash on her skull. It wasn’t a direct hit. But the energy of the bullet was so powerful, she had no chance.

Marketing works This style of weapon isn’t popular by accident — it’s marketing. The Washington Post recently published a story outlining how one of the manufacturers of AR-15-style rifles tried to run an ad during the Super Bowl, knowing the NFL would probably reject it but ready to launch accusations of censorship and hypocrisy. The ad was rejected. And the counterattack was “by far” the most successful marketing the company had ever had, one company exec said.

The United States banned assault weapons before, from 1994 until 2004. In that 10-year period, mass-shooting deaths were reduced, according to at least one study, published in 2019 in the Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery. In July, the House passed new assault-weapons ban legislation, largely along party lines. It’s unlikely to advance in the evenly split Senate, but at least it is some recognition that the Second Amendment doesn’t confer unlimited rights.

And there is support from the White House. President Biden, in a Pennsylvania speech on safer communities and gun control Tuesday, said the county “is awash in weapons of war.” Parents whose children died in the Uvalde shooting, he said, had to supply DNA for identification, “because the AR-15 just rips the body apart.”

Still-life horror Jurors in the Parkland case are doing what no one should have to do. Instead of shielding themselves from the dreadfulness of this mass shooting, they have to immerse themselves in it. They’ve listened to the anguished parents, siblings and friends. They’ve visited the still-life horror of Building 12 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, preserved since 2018 for the trial: dried pools of blood on the floor, overturned chairs, discarded headphones, a chess game still in the middle of play, broken glass that still crunches underfoot.

And they’ve seen those photos, the nightmarish pictures of slaughter four years ago on Valentine’s Day committed by someone who thought an AR-15 looked “cool.”

There have been so many shootings. We try to preserve our own sanity by turning away, afraid of having those images of blood and terror and viciousness branded into our consciousness forever.

But maybe we shouldn’t turn away. Maybe if all of us, including our elected officials, had to see those photos, pictures out of our worst nightmares, we could build some kind of consensus, again, on something that seems so simple it shouldn’t need saying: Weapons of war have no place in a civilized society.

He’d disregard the man after asking who he was, instead just grabbing your hand to get you out of the situation.

Levi would start a fight; I know he would but for the sake of not breaking the guys bones and getting arrested he’d rather just leave with you.

I swear the brats cannot handle Levi calling them a brat and Levi will end up in a fight, like he’s so composed but as soon as he sees the guy try and grab your ass.

Levi will pounce on the man and the man will either fight back or as soon as Levi gets a punch in, they’d leave themselves afraid of getting hurt even more.

He really does just want you to be safe but also he can sometimes hear you shouting for him to kick the guys teeth when he’s beating up some guy who tried to touch you.

That’s when Reiner finally gets into action, definitely the type to be a bit awkward when he walks up to you and the guy who has his hand on your shoulder.

He’d be calm about it though, wouldn’t push the guys hand away and instead just beckon for you to move closer to him so the guy doesn’t get suspicious of any jealousy that has arisen. 

Reiner would go all protective after you’re in his arms, his arm against your waist as you lean into his side.

The guy just stares as you aren’t able to speak after the very uncomfortable situation. 

“If that’s all, we’ll be going.”

He refuses to let the guy even speak, just wants you safe and secure and doesn’t want any trouble with the guy.

He isn’t one to pursue fights and I feel like he’d want your safety to be his main priority then a petty argument because he doesn’t need to fight a man for your love, when he already has it.

Apparently lily just admitted that she'll never make short haired character, which not only makes it feel like a fetish but also proves she's an awful writer because that means she bends a character to match her personal, bitch I want to fuck look. Like she admits she characterized Rey as a utilitarian person who cares little for their appearance and barely remembers to shower. Shockingly it makes way more sense that that kind of character would buzz their hair or at least keep it short so needed as little matanice as possible and wouldn't get in the way.

It just makes it feel like a) lily is to petty a person to dare make/ write about a character she doesn't find attractive and b) that Rey must only keep their hair long in universe because Alina likes it.

Plus a few posts ago she also admitted that all her characters are completely shaved/ waxed perfectly because I guess she finds body hair gross. Which does make me raise a brow because only young kids are hairless like that naturally. Plus that's a common thing sexist men find gross about women, so I guess she hasn't thrown off all the toxic masculinity she grew up learning yet.

long hair requires a lot of up keep in order to be healthy, so much more than short hair ever would. we're talking about the hair tangling to itself, knots, split ends, thin hair and more. if she really did said that rey barely remembers to shower herself (therefore she needs Alaina to remind her) and is most of the time covered in grease of all things, her hair even before meeting alaina would look a lot less like this:

why would ever a "utilitarian character" even keep long hair if they don't care about appearences? it makes absolutely no sense. at this point saying "because alaina likes it" would be better because at least that would be consistent with the characterization she gave rey as having nothing else but live by alaina's command. it would be a complete bastardization of who rey was on the movie, but it woud be a logical explanation. by the way, i noticed that LO aknowledged me on that post. she said that i shouldn't have to compare irl Daisy Ridley with "her" rey because her character went through a very different direction... but that wasn't the point at all. my point was that rey could look amazing on short hair because there are different ways to stylize it and she could, but instead LO prefers her with long plain hair (without a braid, ponytail, anything) and completely shaved everywhere else, even if those two things completely contradict being apathic and "utilitarian." LO, if i still have your attention... pay MO better. i want to adress another point you raised, anon.

i think this is the source of a lot of LO's choice regarding her writing and how she views characers. we talked a bit ago about LO's refusal to accept ace characters (namely "Ellie", Lilith from toh and even g) as they are and put them both on sexual situations every chance she has, about how she only gets any investment on something if she manages to impose a sexual lenses over it. i feel like this most be more of the same. short hair or body hair aren't attractive for LO and so rey can't have either or else LO would lose all investment into writing her, just like she lose it completely for both Finn and Poe, who she doesn't find attractive. all of this by itself it's fine. she shouldn't have to write anyting she doesn't want to write if she doesn't want to. nobody said that she should have to be forced into it either. the problem we do have is that LO constantly lies about this and rather that make a matter of preferences, she wants to turn it around and go about how it's actually misogynistic to let a female character to cut her hair. the issue overall is rather small, you could even say insignificant all things considered, but LO is so desperate to make it into something bigger and nobody is buying it.

Let me say something: I was a freshman at MSD when the Parkland shooting happened, if you guys don’t know, MSD is the school the shooting occurred. Luckily I’m still alive because my parents let me skip school that day because I was sick, if I had gone, I would’ve been in the freshman building and I honestly don’t think I would be alive right now to be writing this. My parents were horrified, I was horrified. I’m traumatized just by having witnessed the aftermath. I know people who have killed themselves from the trauma of the shooting even if they weren’t directly impacted. I knew some of the victims although we weren’t friends, I don’t wanna lie and pretend I was very close with any of them when I wasn’t but I remember having a class with Alaina Petty. She was so kind and lively and she was only 14, her life was stolen from her. It’s weird we were the same age and I’m 18 now and she isn’t. I’ll never forget her laugh and how she was always so attentive to everyone. To see all of these people on your page joke about manifesting school shootings or call school shooters hot is honestly so hurtful to me. You don’t know the impact. I decided to to college (which, I’m a freshman and also I did manifest getting into an ivy league school!) on the other side of the country away from Florida because I was so desperate to get away and I’m still effected. Please be more self aware. Sorry for getting so personal Hawa, but I really want people to understand how harmful it all is.
