I've recently become obsessed with a little-known (in the West) 1989 anime called Akuma-kun, about a magical boy who summons monsters and has 12 monster friends who help save the world from demons attacking humanity. Barring one unfortunate character design, the two subbed movies are fantastic, and I wish the anime itself was subbed as well. Also the art is some of the most gorgeous I've ever seen.
