Kitchen Rebellion of Food Wars🌿🍚
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
➥ At its core, Shokugeki No Soma (Food Wars) is a rebellion story. A parable of resilience through craft. The whole architecture of Tōtsuki Academy mirrors an aristocracy: a place where food, that is something deeply human, communal, and born from necessity, is transformed into a status symbol, a gatekeeping tool. In this gilded world, cuisine isn’t about survival or celebration of life; it’s about power, lineage, and control.
When Sōma walks in, as someone scrappy, stubborn, the son of a diner cook, he carries a philosophy of food that spits in the face of that aristocracy. His food is alive, messy, unpretentious, honest. His mere existence is a threat because he represents a different mythology: one where skill, heart, and grit outweigh inherited prestige.
Also, Sōma’s struggle is mirrored in the immigrant characters: Akira’s refined use of spices born from a "lower" place (a spice shop, not a Michelin-starred kitchen), the Aldini brothers with their Italian roots asserting themselves in a Japanese culinary institution, Ryo's rough upbringing honing seafood expertise with raw ferocity. Each of them carries not just a culinary technique, but the story of survival against a system that devalues them until they can no longer be ignored.
Tumblr media
And then there's Erina, the heiress of this corrupt legacy. She's almost tragic: gifted with the "God's Tongue" but trapped by her father’s suffocating ideology. Her arc is a quiet revolution, it's not against lack of privilege, but against the poison of too much privilege, the kind that amputates love and creativity from excellence. This way, Tōtsuki is a pressure cooker of ideologies, like traditionalism vs. innovation, elitism vs. meritocracy, passion vs. profit, it all with food as the medium of rebellion, so the concept of "taste" itself becomes a metaphor for class and identity throughout the series.
The Central Arc (with Azami's coup) makes all this explicit: Azami dreams of a culinary totalitarianism, where only the "perfect" elite dishes are allowed to exist. It’s an annihilation of individuality, culture, risk, the soul of food itself. Against him stand the rebels, many of whom (like Sōma) have already known exclusion, hunger, ridicule. Their fight is to preserve multiplicity, imperfection, and passion.

Headcanon Crossover of Kuroko no Basket x Shokugeki no Soma
What if Generation of Miracles (also Kuroko, Kagami, etc., which include some 2nd grade students) met Generation of Jewels (a.k.a. 92nd gens, even 91st gens) and then had a friendship battle on street basketballs? It would be fun to see the basketball pros vs. the chefs turn into basketball amateurs.

NB: All the team composition, no. jersey, and jersey designs are based on Vorpal Swords (but change the name to be "Miracles"/"Kiseki"/"キセキ").
B. Team Generation of Jewels (Gyoku no Sedai/玉の世代)
Team Composition

Jersey Designs
Tumblr media
I chose this jersey design with this color scheme because it represents the fire, an important element as the chefs are related to cooking. The fire colors also represent their inferno spirit in cooking, especially related to food wars (shokugeki), like jewels that become more valuable when forged in fire. The team name can be as "Jewels"/"Gyoku"/"ギョク"
NB:
Top 3 shortest members in both Kiseki and Gyoku (both core + bench): Kiseki: 1. Tetsuya Kuroko (168 cm) 2. Seijuro Akashi (173 cm) 3. Kazunari Takao (176 cm) Gyoku: 1. Terunori Kuga (155 cm) 2. Takumi Aldini (168 cm) 3. Soma Yukihira (171 cm) + NB: - Both the shortest members from each team have the given name that starts with Te- and the surname that starts with Ku- (Tetsuya Kuroko & Terunori Kuga). They also have the same jersey number 11 (since I deliberately made Kuga have the same number as Kuroko because both are the shortest). - The second-shortest members from each team also have a surname that starts with A- and ends with -i (Akashi & Aldini). They are also the point guards and captains of their respective teams. - Tetsuya Kuroko's height is the same as Takumi Aldini's, but his weight is the same as Soma Yukihira's (57 kg). - Even though Soma Yukihira is the 3rd shortest in Gyoku, he is shorter than Seijuro Akashi, the 2nd shortest in Kiseki.
Top 3 tallest members in both Kiseki and Gyoku (both core + bench): Kiseki: 1. Atsushi Murasakibara (208 cm) 2. Shintaro Midorima (195 cm) 3. Kosuke Wakamatsu (193 cm) Gyoku: 1. Subaru Mimasaka (187 cm) 2. Isami Aldini (182 cm) 3. Satoshi Isshiki/Shun Ibusaki (tied 180 cm) + NB: - The tallest members of each team have a surname that starts with M and ends with -a (Murasakibara & Mimasaka), who are also the centers. - None of the Gyoku members has a height of at least 190 cm.
Both teams have the Shooting Guards that taller and heavier than the Small Forwards. Surprisingly, both SGs and SFs have a height difference of only 6 cm in each team. - Kiseki: Shintaro Midorima (SG) 195 cm/79 kg > Ryōta Kise (SF) 189 cm/77 kg. - Gyoku: Akira Hayama (SG) 177 cm/63 kg > Soma Yukihira (SF) 171 cm/57 kg.
Coincidentally, both Daiki Aomine and Akira Hayama, who have the jersey number #5, are voiced by Junichi Suwabe. Maybe I deliberately did it (or not), I just randomly put the jersey number for SnS characters. There is another character who shares the same voice actor as Yuki Ono (Taiga Kagami & Isami Aldini), sadly, I don't put Isami on the same number as Kagami bcs there is another character that more important than him, that is the beloved senpai a.k.a. Isshiki.
I decided to make Takumi the captain instead of Soma. On average, the several captains of basketball teams are usually often the target of butt-monkey because they often deal with some of their members shenanigans who make their heads boiled, some are even often used as jokes, for example Hyuga, Kasamatsu, and Okamura, it can be said that on average, captains are the hot-blooded and always get the shits. But on the other hand, they are people who are assertive and able to embrace their team well, and can act rationally and logically. And those descriptions are matched for Takumi, who is also assertive and rational.
Meanwhile, I made Soma as vice-captain bcs he is the more laid-back one and the only one who can help Takumi in carrying out his duties (and also the only one who berated him the most, LOL!). Their dynamics reminded me of their mentors' ones, Gin Dojima-Joichiro Yukihira, where Gin is the 1st seat while Joichiro is the 2nd seat. If only there was no Erina above Soma, even if Erina's grandfather had not directly appointed Soma as the first seat, there is a possibility that Takumi could have become the first seat and Soma the second seat (of course that would require a lot of processes), so their dynamics would be exactly the same as Gin-Joichiro. The Takumi-Soma dynamic is also exactly the same as Hyuga-Izuki where Izuki, as the vice-captain, also often makes puns that annoy Hyuga. There are even similarities with the Hyuga-Kiyoshi dynamic, where Kiyoshi as Ace (not captain or vice-captain) in his era, was more laid-back and annoying to Hyuga. I think the dynamic between the assertive captain x the laid-back vice captain will be a great dish for Captain Takumi x Vice Captain Soma.
Takumi is the only one of the captains who is blond. All the vice captains (Kagami & Soma), even Akashi as the captain, are the red-heads.
In the coach and manager staffs, we have Joichiro, Erina, and Megumi act as the laid-back pro daddy coach, assertive and serious assistant coach girl, and sweetheart manager girl respectively, just like Kagetora, Riko, and Momoi.
Both the coaches are the dad of the protags. But Kagetora is Riko's dad (the Seirin coach girl), while Joichiro is Soma's. Both of them are funny dads who like to tease their own children.
In the girls section, Megumi is shorter than Riko for the girls within the height of 150s cm (Riko 156 cm, Megumi 154 cm), while Erina is taller than Momoi for the girls within the height of 160s cm (Momoi 161 cm, Erina 162 cm).
Both the girls within the height of 160s cm have the big boobs and curvaceous body more than the girls within the height of 150s cm.
Riko is the only one of the girls who is a 2nd-grade student. Almost all of the girls are first-grade students.
Updated: Then I realized that Akira shares the same birthday as Midorima (July 7th). The Cancerian shooting guards.
Neither team has any members from the 3rd grade. It means Kiseki consists of 8 members of the 1st grade and 2 members of the 2nd grade. Meanwhile, Gyoku consists of 7 members of the 1st grade and 3 members of the 2nd grade.
You can take the setting where they all move up a class in the final season. But tbh, I prefer to take the setting of the majority time when they are still in the initial class (since the 1st graders are the great time rather than the next time skip.)

Cooking With Your Heart Pt. 15: Maybe (Akira x reader, Ryo x reader)
------------------------------
Summary: Sometimes you gotta take a risk.
TW: None
Word Count: 1k
Part 14 | Part 16
------------------------------
You take your time getting ready for the new day. It was going to be a heavy and difficult day. You had resolved to extend an olive branch to Akira and Ryo in the hopes that they would become your friends. I mean, they have so much to offer. Why push them away? Ultimately, they’re the ones that will have to decide if they want this type of connection with you. They may not be able to have you as a lover, but they can have you as a friend.
You rush down and get a quick breakfast, hoping to catch Akira in the lab before he goes to his Kiosk. You sprint there hoping that you’re not too late. As you reach the lab you hesitate. Did you really want this? Or are you just feeling bad? You shake your head trying to stop yourself from talking yourself out of it. You march in, trying to be confident. The lab is empty, but you can hear pots and pans clinking. You approach the kitchen and peek your head in. It’s Akira cooking something. You stand there for a bit before clearing your throat. Your presence startles Akira. He quickly recovers and a feeling of disappointment and embarrassment washes over him.
“How can I help you?” Akira tries to stay civil.
You look down and then up and then down again. No words are coming to you. You start sweating.
Akira stares at you with fondness. He wishes he could close the gap between you two and hold you. Now there is a sense of sadness and emptiness.
“I know I said what I said. But I was wondering if we could just be friends?” You start, “But I understand if you can’t do that cause it would be too awkward. I mean, I just…” You speak rather quickly trying to smooth out the tension but Akira cuts you off.
“I need to think about it. Not now. I’m too busy. Maybe in the future I can give you an answer.” He stands his ground. He wants you to know that this is important to him. If not his, why be his friend?
You chew on your lower lip. “I understand.”
You turn to leave, and you can hear Akira sigh before you exit the kitchen.
You’re not feeling great about the outcome of the conversation, but you do feel relief that it didn’t go too badly. You check your watch, you still have time to catch up to Ryo, you hoped. You sprint as fast as you can to his dorm. You can see him in the distance. You catch his eye and he starts walking faster in a different direction. You’re huffing and puffing, hoping that you can catch up to him. However, he’s a lot faster and you lose track of him. You stop sprinting to catch your breath. Mission failed. You would have to catch him after the festival.
You make it to your kiosk in time to cook with the Polar Star team. You can’t help but be distracted. Isshiki redirects you a couple of times before he pulls you aside.
“y/n is everything okay? You’re not on you’re a-game today.” He asks.
You hesitate. “I just have a lot on my mind.”
“How about you take the day off.” He suggests.
You’re surprised but refuse. “I promise I’ll get it together. Just give me a couple of minutes.”
He looks at you and decides to give you a break before returning to the kitchen.
You take a deep breath and push all thoughts of Ryo out of your head. You’re here to prove yourself not to chase boys. After sitting it out for a couple of minutes you jump back in. Eventually the crowd winds down and you can catch your breath. You wanted to close early so you could catch Ryo but no dice.
The night air fills the space. It’s closing time. Finally. The stars are bright in the sky and the crowd is dissipating. You make sure to clean up your station before sprinting away to find Ryo. This much sprinting is eventually going to give you a heart attack. You were not made for this type of exercise. You finally reach Ryo’s kiosk. It’s closed down. You dread having to go to his dormitory. Last time you were there, it was a disaster.
You decide to walk to his dormitory. There is no rush, and you wanted to stall as much as possible. When you finally reach the dormitory, you hope and pray that Ryo wasn’t wearing his bandana. You needed him to be calm. You ring the doorbell and the door opens slowly. You wait in anticipation. It’s Ryo. No bandana. He looks surprised but his face quickly turns into a grimace.
“What?” he asks rudely.
“I know we didn’t end things too well last time I was here. I just wanted to offer, if you wanted that is, to be … friends…?” You hesitate on that last word.
Ryo narrows his eyes and takes a deep breath, “No.” and with that he slams the door on your face. You frown knowing that this would be the most likely outcome with Ryo. You’re just glad that you didn’t’ get yelled at.
You walk away, downcast and sad. You knew better than to be friends with boys that were heartbroken. However, it didn’t hurt to try.
Ryo watched you from his window as you exited his property. He felt like punching himself. “No”? How could he be so stupid? How could he be so callous? He had an in. Not what he wanted but something was something. Why did he have to be so proud and closed off? He could’ve gotten closer to you. Maybe won you over. He felt like an idiot. He hated that if he wanted this new reality with you that he would have to approach you.
Akira, back at the lab, felt confident about the answer he gave you. He did need time to think about it. What would it mean to be your friend? What was he going to get out of it? He didn’t have many friends and adding you to the roster might mean something more for him. Maybe he could win you over. Maybe.

Food Wars! Shokugeki no Souma in: Going Grocery Shopping
(Char. Involved: Sōma Yukihira, Akira Hayama, Takumi Aldini, Eishi Tsukasa)
(Thank you so much for 40 notes! Here's another one for you guys. Sorry i couldn't do a short story for these but take some headcanons my dears.)
Tumblr media
Sōma Yukihira
-Usually you cant take him anywhere because he causes an issue in which you have to be asked to leave (much to your despair)
-The grocery store is probably the only place you two can go without much problems
-May or may not be sneaking ingredients that werent on your list into the shopping cart
"Oh? What do you mean there werent any Rice crackers and Salmon in the cart before? I'm certain you put them in."
-Will asked to be pushed in the cart around the aisles
-If he ever gets lost, find him in the Frozen Dessert aisle, he loves it there for whatever reason
"C'mon Babeeee. Just one more tub of Ice cream.....Yes i know we already have 4 tubs already. Your point is?"
-However if you were shopping for a food war/cooking practice, he'd be very helpful
-Recommending ingredients, telling you the best flavor combinations from his experience, and slipping in a few personal items
-Overall, hes a massive child in the store so please hold his hand so he doesn't run off
Akira Hayama
Tumblr media
-A rollercoaster of emotions
-Its like stepping into a whole other world when you food shop with him
-He tends to find the items in the store "Sub par" and "Second rate" but always picks the best ones with his well trained sense of smell
"Why bother buying from these cheap stores when i have fresh spices and blends at home?"
-He'd swear he hates shopping with you but secretly enjoys the time he spends with you (Good luck getting him to admit it though)
-May subtly tease and feign ignorance when you need help reaching something at a higher shelf
"Hm? Cant you reach it on your own from down there?” -pause- “Whats that look on your face for?"
-On rare occasions, he'll hold your hand when you go together
-He swears its just so that you dont get lost but you know better
-To be honest, its just less of a arduous task if you just go by yourself
Takumi Aldini
Tumblr media
-One of the most normal ones on this list if we're being honest
-Its just a calming and sweet time through and through
-He's usually the one to ask you to go with him but will flush when you ask why
"Dont be silly, I just thought you'd want to pick up some things for your upcoming food war, thats all."
-Will never leave you on your own in the store since he loves spending time with you more than he'll admit (his face gives him away)
-He'll push the cart and carry your bags like a gentleman
"How could you even say that, Il mio amore? As if id let you carry them when you already paid."
-An absolute god at picking vegatables for some reason
-His background in the restaurant business definitely plays a part
-In the top 3 (And not three) guys you should always bring when you're shopping
(New!) Eishi Tsukasa
Tumblr media
-A walking beige flag when it comes to shopping
-You either love it or want to rip every single hair from your body with tweezers
-Hes not loud or causing a disturbance but hes micro managing and nitpickjng everything
"Thats the one you chose?" "Uhp, I wouldnt go with that one."
-Its better to just let him do everything because he'll make you feel stupid no matter what move you make (even though thats not his intention)
-He means well but lets be honest, you just arent on the same page very often in terms of shopping
"I apologize dear but you know im particular. I dont mean to hover."
-If you have no filter and tell him to cut it out, he'll immeidiently draw back into himself at your blantant rejection
-His more awkward side will show and he will mumble endless strings of apologies
-Just be ready to put up with this weird snowflake

What if Anime Characters (Especially Japanese) have Chinese, Korean, and English names – Shokugeki no Soma/Food Wars ver. (Part 1)
Those kanji names can be translated into Hanzi (Chinese) and Hangeul (Korean) based on en.wiktionary.org
Remember, this is only for the pure Japanese and the half-Japanese characters, not foreigners (like Rolland Chapelle, WGO members, etc) characters. Also, their Chinese will be written with Chinese Simplified instead of Chinese Traditional to make it sound like in Mainland China.
First, let’s start with our main characters, especially the youth from 92nd generation and The Elite Ten.
1. Soma Yukihira (幸平 創真)
Tumblr media
Etymology: The name Sōma means (創真), using the kanji for "creation" (創 Sō) and "true" (真 Ma), could mean "true creation", a reflection of his boundless creativity. Sōma's surname Yukihira means "happiness, good luck" (幸) (yuki) and "flat, broad, level, even, peaceful, common, ordinary" (平) (hira), which could could roughly translate as "blessing of the ordinary", a reflection of his humble origins compared to his classmates.
Chinese Name: 幸平创真 (Xìngpíng Chuàngzhēn) → If he has a Chinese name, I'll name him 邢创真 (Xíng Chuàngzhēn).
Korean Name: 행평 창진 (Haengpyeong Changjin) → If he has a Korean name, I'll name him 형창진 (Hyung Changjin).
English Name: Based on his characteristics, I'll name him John. The name John, originating from the Hebrew name Yohanan, means "God is gracious" or "YHWH has been gracious". People named John are often described as intelligent, reliable, and confident individuals. They tend to be natural leaders with a strong sense of responsibility and determination. John is also associated with kindness, loyalty, and an unwavering moral compass. I decided name him like that to match her father's English name, Joe (sounds like JoJo’s Bizzare Adventure references) and also the meaning name of Megumi, “grace”. Also, he can be called with diminutive name, Johnny/Johnnie (sounds like Soma-kun or Soma-chan). So, his English name is John Yukihira.
2. Erina Nakiri (薙切 えりな)
Tumblr media
Etymology: The name Erina (えりな) is from Eleanor, which was a very common name among women of high nobility during the High Middle Ages - thus reflecting Erina's prestige in the cooking industry. Erina's surname Nakiri means "mow" (薙) (na) and "off" (切) (kiri).
Chinese Name: 薙切绘里奈 (Tìqiè Huìlǐnài) → If she has a Chinese name, I'll name her 池绘里奈 (Chí Huìlǐnài).
Korean Name: 치절 에리나 (Chijeol Erina) → If she has a Korean name, I'll name her 지 에리나 (Ji Erina).
English Name: Eleanor means "light-hearted; shining light" in Greek and French. Since her name means Eleanor in the Etymology section, her English name is Eleanor Nakiri.
3. Megumi Tadokoro (田所 恵)
Tumblr media
Etymology: The name Megumi means "favor, benefit" (恵) It can also mean "grace" or "kindness", which reflects on her personality. Megumi's surname Tadokoro means "field, rice paddy" (田) (ta) and "place" (所) (tokoro/dokoro), which is a reference to the Tōhoku region's reputation as the granary of Japan.
Chinese Name: 田所惠 (Tiánsuǒ Huì) → If she has a Chinese name, I'll name her 田恩惠 (Tián Ēnhuì). I used to add 恩 (Ēn) instead because 恩惠 (Ēnhuì) also has the same meaning as Megumi, which means “grace”.
Korean Name: 전소혜 (Jeonso Hye) → If she has a Korean name, I'll name her 전은혜 (Jeon Eunhye). I used to add 은 (eun) instead because 은혜 (eun-hye) also has the same meaning as Megumi that means “grace”.
English Name: Based on one of her kanji name meanings, I'll name her Grace. The name Grace, of Latin origin, signifies "goodness" and "generosity". It also evokes a sense of divine favor, kindness, and beauty. In Greek mythology, Grace refers to the three Charites, goddesses of charm and beauty. The name is often associated with elegance, refinement, and a gentle demeanor. It’s so obvious since the name Grace is also being canon in the anime, in the scene of Erina vs Momo (even Erina indirectly gave the English name for Megumi via her dessert dish). So, her English name is Grace Tadokoro.
4. Takumi Aldini (タクミ・アルディーニ)
Tumblr media
Etymology: Takumi is a common Japanese name for males. In kanji, it will be written as 巧 (Takumi) that means "clever", "skillful". Aldini is a common last name in the Tuscany region of Florence in Italy that means "wise and experienced".
Chinese Name: 巧·阿尔迪尼 (Qiǎo · ā'ěr dí ní) / 塔克米·阿尔迪尼 (Tǎkèmǐ · ā'ěrdíní) → If he has a Chinese name, I'll name him 巧·阿尔迪尼 (Qiǎo · ā'ěr dí ní) / 阿 巧 (Ā Qiǎo).
Korean Name: 교·알디니 (Gyo Aldini) / 탑극미·아이적니 (Tapkeukmi Aijeokni) → If he has a Korean name, I'll name him 교·알디니 (Gyo Aldini) / 아 교 (Ah Gyo).
English Name: Based on his characteristics (and to mirror him with Soma too, since both of them have many similarities), I'll name him Giovanni. The name Giovanni, of Italian origin, means "God is gracious". It is the Italian form of the name John (that’s Soma’s English name), which itself derives from the Hebrew name Yochanan. Individuals named Giovanni are often described as charismatic, confident, and creative. They possess strong leadership skills and have a natural ability to inspire others. Giovanni's tend to be passionate about their interests and have a strong sense of determination. Sounds like him, right? So, literally, Giovanni is John’s Italian version, which means Takumi is Soma’s Italian version. Btw, since finally we get Soma (John), Megumi (Grace), and Takumi (Giovanni), meaning of western names that are associated with “grace”, let’s call them “The Gracious Children Trio”, LOL! So, his English (Italian) name is Giovanni Aldini.
5. Alice Nakiri (薙切 アリス)
Tumblr media
Etymology: The name Alice means "noble, exalted"/"of the nobility/of nobility" in Old German/ French/ English/ Italian/ Portuguese, which reflects that she is a member of the prestigious Nakiri Family. If written in Japanese, it can mean "love, affection" (愛) (a), "village" (里) (ri) and "longevity, congratulations, one's natural life" (寿) (su).
Chinese Name: 薙切爱丽丝 (Tìqiè àilìsī) → If she has a Chinese name, I'll name her 池爱丽丝 (Chí àilìsī).
Korean Name: 치절 앨리스 (Chijeol Alice) → If she has a Korean name, I'll name her 지 앨리스 (Ji Alice).
English Name: Obviously, her English name is Alice Nakiri.
6. Ryo Kurokiba (黒木場 リョウ)
Tumblr media
Etymology: Ryō, if written in kanji, can mean "coolness" (涼), "clear" (亮), "good" (良), or "distant" (遼). Kurokiba (黒木場) literally translates to "black lumberyard". Alternatively, it can be read as Kuro Kiba (黒牙) which means "black fang".
Chinese Name: 黑木场辽 (Hēimùchǎng Liáo) → If he has a Chinese name, I'll name him 何辽 (Hé Liáo).
Korean Name: 흑목장 요 (Heukmokjang Yo) → If he has a Korean name, I'll name him 하요 (Ha Yo).

Cooking With Your Heart Pt. 13: Plan of Attack (Akira x reader, Ryo x reader)
------------------------------
Summary: Surprise! Surprise!
TW: None
Word Count: 2k
Part 12 | Part 14
--------------------------------
Tensions were running high between you and Ryo and Akira. You were focused on snubbing them at any chance you got. Akira and Ryo, on the other hand, were looking for ways to make amends for their past transgressions. Neither had a crush in so long that they interpreted their animosity and stand offish behaviors as hate and not embarrassment  from the feelings they were experiencing.
Ryo had made an effort to be around you or in your near vicinity any time he got. He would seek out Soma and the Polar Star residents to ‘talk’ and ‘share recipes.’ The reality was that, he thought, if he could spend more time around you it would finally lead you to bring down your defenses. Each time he was met with a cold glare or you walking away. He could not get the thought of you out of his mind. He needed you like he needed air.
Akira on the other hand took a more defensive stance. He eagerly waited for you at the lab. He would prepare the kitchen in case you stop by so that he could share a moment with you. But it had been several days, and he had not seen or heard from you. He had made several off-hand comments to Jun about your absence in the hopes that Jun would reach out to you and convince you to come back. Each time June was oblivious and simply agreed with Akira.
It had been a long day for you and for the Polar Star residents as you set up your tent for the Fall Festival. You were excited to see what it would look like to work together with your housemates. You liked the idea of serving food in a little kiosk. You decided to take a walk through the different streets and see what was available. You stopped to say hi to several classmates and Soma. As you got to the end of the street you spotted a curry place. You haven’t had curry in so long. You hope they would be open.
As you get closer you can hear two familiar voices arguing. Of course, Ryo and Akira were the curry stand owners. As soon as they both saw you approach their kiosk, they froze in place. Akira was the first to move.
“We have curry.” He said quickly, embarrassed that he would state the obvious.
Ryo, not one to be left behind, also approached you, “It’s good. Please try.” Again, another fool.
You debate if to even get some curry. You decide against it. Again, if they were mean, you were meaner.
“No thank you. Hey, Alice.” And you turn on your heels and leave them.
Like two lost puppies they stood there watching you leave. Too caught up in their own self-pity to realize that the other was gunning for you as well.
Alice noticed Akira’s change in demeanor. Was he also crushing on y/n? She thought. But she decided against bringing it up. She had a lot of work to do.
You’re fuming and angry. How could two people ruin your whole day? You make it back to the dormitory in the hopes of getting some rest.
Back at the festival, Akira was devising how to approach you. He was tired of hedging around the subject. He wanted you to know soon or else he would explode. Ryo on the other hand had already come up with a plan or a concept of a plan. He didn’t know if he’d go through with it. He didn’t want to seem weak.
The next day you decide to stop by the lab to see Shiomi. You missed her and wanted to run through some thoughts by her. Akira had been out buying spices at the market. The sound of your voice had him sprinting to the lab as he ran down the corridor. He needed to see you, talk to you. And there you were, carefree and happy. Your demeanor changed as you saw him come in.
“Hi.” He mumbled.
You simply gave a head nod. You turn back to Shiomi and continue talking to her. At some point Shiomi announces that she has to go out. You start to freak out. You didn’t want to be alone with Akira. You were planning on leaving as well until Akira stopped you. He slightly blocked your pathway, averting his gaze.
“I have a dish I’d like your input on.”
You’re surprised and speechless. You ponder the ramifications of you accepting this invitation. You really want to give in, but this man had been nothing but petulant and mean towards you. You were petty and wanted him to know that.
“Why do you want my opinion? Did you forget that I want to challenge you for your seat at the 10?” You echoed his words from last time.
Akira visibly winced, he took a deep breath, “If you’re going to dethrone me, shouldn’t you get to know my cooking better?”
He had a point. You knew he was a master at spices but you had only tasted his food twice. You feel weak for caving in but you had no choice.
“Fine. One dish.”
Akira grabs your hand and pulls you into the kitchen. The touch was not unwanted but it was unexpected. You tried to memorize the feel of his soft hands. Akira was feeling bold and he wanted you to know it.
He guided you to a seat in the kitchen. He began cooking, trying to put on the best show for you. He wanted to not only impress you with his dish, he wanted you to see how fluent he was in the kitchen. There was no better way to impress a chef than showing mastery in the kitchen.
You watched him, mesmerized. This is what it looks like to be in the seat of 10. Mastery and magic. You tried to manage your thoughts. You couldn’t get sucked up in Akira’s theatrics. He was up to something. It seemed fishy that he would go from cold and distant to inviting and engaging.
Akira finished his dish and presented it to you. You looked at it from every angle, the presentation was flawless. You take a fork and take one bite. Bursts of flavor and heat. Your tongue reveled in the taste. You went in for a second bite. Akira was pleased. You lean back and clear your throat trying to contain your excitement for this dish.
“There is a perfect blend of heat and herbs. It’s inviting and warm. The presentation is appealing to the eye.” You say while making heavy eye contact.
Akira is pleased with himself. Getting good marks from you was a dream come true. This was the first phase of his plan.
“Thank you. I made it thinking of you.” He said holding back a blush.
You glow bright red. “Wha-what?”
“Your spark and energy. That’s what this dish represents. I’m glad that you aprove.” He smiles.
You’re about to explode in how red you are. You get up and try to excuse yourself but Akira blocks your exit.
“This was fun. Thank you for letting me taste your dish.” You say facing him but averting your gaze.
“Anything for you.” Akira leans in.
You’re brain is scrambled at his closeness and his honey soft voice. What was happening? You try to take a step to the side to escape this unreal situation. In a swift movement Akira had you pinned against the wall. Your back against the wall, his hands at either side of you.
You want to speak but no words leave your mouth. You have no choice but to make eye contact with his emerald eyes.
“I’ve been misguided in my actions towards you. I can’t stand how much I’ve pushed you away. Instead of taking my seat at the 10, why don’t you take me?”
You let out a little yelp. WHAT. WAS. HAPPENING. Akira, the king of the cold shoulder was declaring his love for you. You’d be amiss if you didn’t admit that he was attractive in more ways than one. But, to commit to this asshole who has been nothing but spiteful to you seems like a stretch.
Your heart is pounding, your brain is foggy. You needed space, the air was too thin in the lab. You’re unable to answer so you push past him and leave as fast as you can.
Akira is left there facing the wall, bereft and hurt. What did he expect would happen? That you would agree with his confession of love and fall into his arms? He felt like such a fool. He let himself be guided by his emotions, for the first time, and he got denied. Akira pounded the wall with his fist in anger.
You speed it out of Shiomi’s lab. Your heart was still racing, your head pounding. What were you supposed to do about Akira’s love confession? You’d be a liar if you denied having feelings for him. I mean, look at him? He was smart, savvy, and handsome. He was a sight to behold. However, his attitude towards you soured your feelings for him. What was Akira thinking? What brought this so suddenly?
You’re basically power walking through campus. You needed to get away. You need to get air. You finally slow down enough to catch your breath. Your head was still swimming. In the distance you can see a figure in all black. Dammit, it was Ryo. You didn’t have time for him. Whatever antics he had for you were going to have to wait. You turn to walk in the opposite direction but someone grabs your hand.
You’re being steadily dragged to a secluded space outside of the campus. You’re too flustered and anxious to look at who it is. You just decide to fight for your life, but you can’t get yourself to budge.
You suddenly stop. You open your eyes and it’s Ryo. You notice he’s wearing his bandana, so you know he’s going to be verbally abusive. You brace yourself.
“I’m tired of playing games!” He raised his voice
You look at him confused. Before you could speak, he continues his rant.
“You think you’re so perfect and amazing. I’m tired of doing this from afar! You’re driving me crazy!”
You’re frozen in place. What was this madman spewing?
“I want you. I want you more than I need to breathe. I don’t know what you did but I can’t stop thinking about you. So become mine already so I can stop obsessing over you!”
Your mouth forms an O. You’re not just surprised, you’re floored. Ryo, of all people, was confessing to you. You feel him let go of your hand. He was growing impatient.
“Well?” He softens his tone.
You look at him and before he can react you run the other way. You’re going too fast for him to catch up.
Ryo stands there confused and hurt. He takes off his bandana in defeat. He hadn’t quite planned how he would approach you; he decided to feel the moment. Maybe he was way too harsh. Came on too strong. He hated that he had a habit of doing that. Now you were spooked and further away from him than before. Why did he think this would work?
Ryo’s confession shook you to the core. The man that swore that he hated your very existence had just opened up to you about his feelings for you. How could this have happened? Did you beating him at the Food War make him crazy? You’d be lying if you said that you didn’t find Ryo attractive. I mean, his passion for food and winning was a real turn on.
You keep running without stopping until you reach the Polar Star dormitory. You shut the door behind you and hold on for dear life. Your breath is labored and your gaze unfocused.
The girls were just getting ready to leave when they saw you coming in.
“Y/n, what’s wrong?” Ryoko asks.
You look at them wild eyed. “Nothing.” You say between breaths.
You start walking past them, pretending you’re not a hot mess. They look at you confused but decide not to press you.
That night you take the hottest bath you can stand. You try to scrub away the feelings that came up for you. Two love confessions from your greatest enemies in one day? This turned out to be a shojo. You pondered on your next move. Going back to the lab was not happening anytime soon. Bumping into Alice was out of the question. You had to evade each of the boys. You didn’t know what to make of this whole situation.
Back at Shiomi’s lab Akira turned in for the night rather early. He hid in the darkness of his room, broken hearted and alone. He thought he had a good plan to get you to be his. He trusted his instincts and he got shot down. Did he come on too strong? Did he not say the right words? He buried his head in his pillow to hide the few tears that left his eyes.
At Ryo and Alice’s dormitory, Ryo was too busy doing planks and pushups. He had a lot of energy to burn and nowhere to put it. He made a bigger mess than he had anticipated. He had pushed you so far away that you literally ran way from him. He wasn’t a man with know-how on what were the right words in these situations. He only knew what he felt and what he thought he should do. It backfired. It all backfired. Now he’s here, alone, trying to sooth himself with an intense work out that brings him pain.
