A3! Troupe Event: MY WORST WEDDING | Event Story Translation (1/11)

Neither Japanese nor English is my first language so please forgive me if I made mistake. However, feel free to point me out, I’d love to hear your feedbacks on the translation ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶

Azami: “She is my fated partner. I was sitting next to her at the cafe, and ever since our eyes met, I knew it was what was called love at first sight.”

Izumi: (Following what we did before with Spring and Summer Troupe, the rookie Azami-kun will be the lead of Autumn Troupe’s 10th performance, Sakyo-san will be the co-lead.)

(This time, Tsuzuru-kun also came up with the script according to the lead - Azami-kun’s request but…)

Azami: “Hello? Sorry, I didn’t intend to disturb you today but… I have something needed confirming about the arrangements for tomorrow’s wedding.”

Izumi: (Indeed, I didn’t expect Taichi-kun to play a female role again in Autumn Troupe’s performance.)

Sakyo: I can still sense Noah in her nuance.

Azami: She sounds manlike.

Taichi: It’s hard to switch into a different role in an instant~!

Izumi: Well, in some ways, this role is even harder than the lead role…

(This time, Taichi-kun will play both Noah - a friend of the groom Ethan played by Azami-kun, and the marriage swindler Olivia who deceives the groom…)

(This is our troupe's very first dual role. In order to fulfill Azami-kun's request of including a role that he can put tons of makeup on, things have become like this.)

(Since we did the special makeup during the Undead performance, this time the makeup will be focused on woman, and what’s more is a bad woman who looks good with heavy makeup but...)

Taichi: This is my first time challenging to change into another role this quick so I'm really nervous!

Banri: If needed I can take on your role instead.

Taichi: Uhm... Now that I've self-run for this role, I'll do something about it...!

Juza: It's an unprecedented challenge, I think it will no doubt be a valuable experience.

Omi: He has definitely become more reliable since Zero so if it's Taichi, it'll be okay.

Taichi: Thanks y'all! I'll do my best to make A-chan fall in love at first glance!

Azami: Well... Good luck.

Sakyo: Bon too, you're the one to talk. In the scene where Ethan talks about Olivia as usual, I can't feel the yearning love for his beloved fiancée Olivia.

Azami: Not really... That scene is good. I'm gonna be betrayed in marriage fraud after all.

Sakyo: That’s why it is unnecessary. The play won’t be convincing unless the audience can understand you’re so blindly in love that you’re being scammed.

Azami: —No matter what you say ‘bout l-love, I just don’t get it—.

Izumi: (For Azami-kun who is not good at talking about love, playing a role who is obsessed with his fiancée might be indeed difficult.)

(At first we had a discussion about the wedding theme for this play, but Azami-kun said love stories were impossible for him, so we changed to the marriage fraud.)

(Although the main focus of this play is the action battle with a criminal organization that has the marriage swindler in, Ethan’s feelings are also important…)

(Compared to that, James - another groom who is also deceived by Olivia, played by Sakyo-san, is perfect. Maybe that’s the difference in life experience.)

Banri: Well, isn’t it impossible for Azami to fall for Olivia now? He’s Taichi no matter how you look at.

Taichi: With A-chan’s makeup after this, I’m gonna turn into a really beautiful villainess as planned~!

Banri: Come to think of it, I had thought of how the quick change would be done, but that’s surely a problem.

Izumi: In the last part, Taichi-kun will be changing from Noah to Olivia, right.

Banri: We have consulted with Tsuzuru about some script adjustments but still can’t carve out time for Azami to directly do the makeup for Taichi.

Omi: Ethan and James also have to change their costumes quickly…

Juza: Noah can’t come out with Olivia’s makeup from the beginning…

Azami: Then, going with the makeup plan I’ve come up with, Taichi-san will have no choice but to do the makeup on his own.

Izumi: Is that okay? Since you wanted to do lots of makeup in this performance.

Azami: Coming up with the makeup plan is also fun, so it’s okay. Instead, I’m gonna go with Spartan mode to train Taichi-san so that he can redo the makeup perfectly.

Taichi: That’s def out of question~! It’s already up to my neck just quick changing between two roles though, I’m not confident that I can do the makeup on my own!

Izumi: Right, it seems like you would be overwhelmed a bit.

Banri: I’ll go back to the wing at the same time as Taichi, so I’ll lend you a hand with the makeup and quick-change.

Taichi: Banchan~! You saved me!

Sakyo: If that’s the dexterous Settsu then there seems to be no problem.

Azami: I’m enthusiastic about the makeup this time, so Banri-san too, please keep that in mind.

Banri: Go easy on me.

Izumi: Azami-kun, how is the hair makeup plan going?

Azami: I’m thinking about various hair arrangements for each character, including Olivia’s wig.

This time performance is set in America, but I’m worried since it might be difficult for the audience to get a grasp on the worldview if I have my hair black as the main character.

Taichi: If that’s the case, how about you dye your hair blonde like Sakyo-nii?

Juza: It’s gonna match with Sakyo-san.

Omi: It might look good when you two line up.

Banri: It’s a relationship that they’re gonna fight over Olivia, isn’t that good to have a sense of rivalry between them.

Azami: I definitely don’t want to match with that person.

Sakyo: Ha… If so, what color are you going to choose?

Azami: There are bunch of wigs from the past performances in the warehouse, so I’ll have a look.

Izumi: Got it. Then let me know when you decide.

*Short time skip*

Izumi: Well then, that’s all for today’s practice. Tomorrow will be a day off, so take a good rest you guys.

Omi: Taichi and Juza are going back to their homes, right?

Juza: Yes. My mom’s birthday is getting near.

Taichi: For me, my sister asked me to hang out with her once in a while.

Sakyo: I’ll be going back to my home tomorrow too, so I’ll be away from the dorm.

Izumi: Sakyo-san too?

Juza: It’s been a while.

Sakyo: It will be bothersome if I don’t go home once in a while.

Juza: …That’s good. The old lady will be happy, too.

Sakyo: …

Bon, you should show your face at home more. You haven’t been home lately, have you.

Azami: Annoying—

i'm not actually sure how to answer this one bc there are so MANY trivia i love and i simply don't know how to choose a favorite

i guess some of my favorite trivia (most of it turned out to be akigumi-centered but don't judge me for it too much i just think about them a lot) + (most are pretty well-known, but there might also be some obscure ones, i have no way of knowing what's common knowledge in this fandom anymore):

according to itaru, chikage secretly owns like a shit ton of rabbit trinkets (his last name is a play on words btw, utsuki is written as 卯木 with 卯 meaning rabbit, and additionally it's very close to 嘘つき (usotsuki) which means liar)

my favorite personas the guys become when drunk: kazunari (becomes a formal-speaking senpai), homare (becomes an emotional crybaby (me too)), omi (becomes the mad wolf), banri (becomes a giggly mess, the social kinda drunk who thinks everything you say is the funniest thing in the whole world), juza (becomes extremely honest), the theater idiot trio (tsumugi, tasuku, and izumi; talk about nothing but theater lol)

kumon is a health nut, he's really into working out and eating properly (which is funny considering his brother probably tries to drink shampoo on a weekly basis)

itaru, kumon, hisoka, and homare are all left-handed

kumon is the only one in mankai who azami doesn't use an honorific for - this would be because they met before formally introducing themselves at mankai, so azami can't help but see kumon as younger than himself

according to drama cd, kumon has zero knowledge about cooking and is absolutely useless in the kitchen

it was said before that banri and his sister have very similar faces, but in the marie antoinette event, banri says that he thought he'd pass well as a girl because of that and yet he still looks like a man

banri's sister's favorite mankai members are omi and juza lol she seems to be into muscular guys

banri is the only member of akigumi who's the youngest sibling

that being said, azami is the only member of akigumi who's an only child (everyone else in akigumi is big brothers!)

juza used to be a member of shogi club when in o-high but he was a ghost member and we don't know if he can even play it lol

banri is lowkey obsessed with soy milk for whatever reason and drinks it everyday lol (is it bc of those 2cm juza holds over him?)

another one about juza; it was stated that out of everyone the dorms, he has the worst quality of sleep - this aligns with the fact that according to banri he snores and grinds his teeth in his sleep, which usually results in people sleeping badly

mi-chan's (taichi's little sister) favorite mankai member is azami, ma-kun's (taichi's little brother) is yuki - this makes taichi depressed that he's neither of their favorites

out of mankai: the best (?) singer is juza, and the worst singer is omi (at least based off karaoke score lol banri is still in denial about it)

additionally kumon said that his only good subjects in school were PE and music, so that would imply both of the hyodo brothers have natural musical talent

everyone in akigumi can play at least one musical instrument (first shown in the 2nd anniversary musical etude, later revisited in the rad red)

banri: guitar

juza: guitar / drums

taichi: keyboard / guitar

omi: drums

sakyo: bass

azami: guitar / bass

other than that, i believe yuki can also play the piano, and matsukawa is the MVP

taichi can draw well! (he's probably the only one in mankai who can draw despite not really having a reason to or showing any explicit interest in it (like kazu being an art student, yuki being a designer, muku liking manga))

in my worst wedding, olivia's heels are 5cm high, taichi couldn't move freely when he tried 6.5cm on, and since olivia had to move a lot during the final action scene, yuki settled for 5cm

speaking of my worst wedding, banri is the one helping taichi with the quick costume change before the finale (he got a private make-up training from azami himself to ensure he'd do it properly!)

according to azami; azuma, yuki, and banri have the best skin condition in the dorms

taichi doesn't care to buy his own skincare products and steals banri's lol

tsumugi and chikage have a sort of tense relationship, since tsumugi is a pro at reading people and chikage will do anything not to be read lol

hisoka has heterochromia - he doesn't care to keep it a secret but sakyo made him ensure that he keep it that way to boost his popularity as ミステリアスな人 and keep people on their toes

homare is in great shape because of his experience with ballroom dancing which requires great stamina and core strength

here's the (possibly incomplete) list of characters who are confirmed to have been in relationships in the past: izumi, tsumugi, homare (seriously?? so few?? i must be missing things asklfjsalkf)

here's the list of mankai members who have numbers in their names: chikage (1000), misumi (3), kazunari (1), kumon (9), banri (10,000), juza (10), taichi (1), guy (100,000,000,000,000,000,000)

A3! Prologue Thoughts | Reread

I think most of us missed the incredible Kamekichi art on the flyer Izumi got. Did Matsukawa draw this?? Was it a self-portrait? Did Kamekichi approve the use of his image for promotional purposes? So many questions ...

I honestly forgot Tasuku is the LITERAL FIRST SPRITE WE SEE and was not expecting to swoon so early. I guess it really was love at first sight, fufu.

If working for the enemy, why hot?

I also think it's important to talk about just how strong Izumi is. If Tasuku Takato specifically came up to me to apologize, I would collapse.

For real though, I like Izumi. She is very funny.

I also like Mrs. Backhoe - she is also very funny.

When and where do we get akigumi cabaret play???

Izumi is, again, very funny.

I'd bonk this guy over the head with a cactus. How dare he.

I will allow Sakyo to give her a hard time because he does it lovingly.

This is how I imagine people reading my 50 chapter long fics where nothing happens and everyone just pines for years.

All things considered, I like how they've managed to portrays Sakyo in a way that seems mostly stand-offish and a little bit tsundere, but in hindsight you can see how deeeply he's invested in Mankai and how much he cares!

And Izumi's really amazing. I love her, absolute queen :)

mankai stage actors thoughts dump. i just feel like rambling

stage mskz's chemistry is insanely good. makes sense since both their actors have been playing as misumi and kazunari for so long and had to improvise so much skits together but they're so in synch it's crazy!!!! their dynamic is a major reason why shinobi misadventuring's stage adaptation was so good and i know it's wishful thinking but i hope they lead a play again soon. i just love their tandem

ryoya is phenomenal as masumi. he's adorable and regardless of my opinions on masumi fanservice he does his job so endearingly well i can't even be mad LMAOOO he's so animated too like kumon's stage actor. i cannot even begin to describe how amazing he is at singing like each time he opens his mouth in a harugumi play that shit that sends you to HEAVEENNN personally i think he's already cemented himself as a vocal powerhouse along with like teruma, toshiki, kandai, whoever else u think belongs on that list. they should give him 200% more lines in the next harugumi show

speaking of vocal powerhouse!!! i think sion as azami is underrated. i don't see him as talked about much but he's so good i'm still in awe at how his voice is so bright and crisp while being in such an action/choreo-heavy group like AKIGUMI and his chemistry with stage taichi is so good too i loved how they played off each other's energies in mantou fist. like mskz i really hope azamin and taichi lead a play together again soon

when august's actor got announced i was really surprised how similar he looked to chikage's stage actor. they looked related it made me wonder if that was intentional casting. and with hisoka's actor graduating soon (WE'LL NEVER FORGET YOU UECHAN.....) i'm starting to wonder if they'll cast an actor that looked similar to them both LMFAOOO

Sakyo: Well, you’d be surprised if mother changes like this.

Banri: The bride and the groom, you two please come here––.

Sakyo’s mother: We even have the officiant?

Banri: I’m in charge of the officiant role.

Miyako: This is just a wedding photoshoot, but I want to take photos like we’re in a real wedding, so I asked if we could have the officiant.

Sakyo’s mother: You also cared about the materials of the dress and other things, didn’t you?

Azami: I just went with the flow.

But then Sakyo said “I’ll wear it”. And it made me laugh.

Sakyo: …I have no memory of that.

Sakyo’s mother: Right. You were still small back then.

However, thank you for making my wish come true. 

Sakyo: …Aah.

Sakyo’s mother: That’s right, since I’ve had myself dress up like this, I need to take a two shot with Hyodo-kun!

Sakyo’s stepfather: Eh!?

Sakyo’s mother: ?

Sakyo’s stepfather: W-Well, I also want to take it with you…

Sakyo’s mother: You too? It’s okay but…

Azami: …You’re loved, ma’am.

Sakyo: Aah. Step-father met my mother because of work, and it seems like he fell in love with her at first sight. 

Even so, he seemed to be hesitant because it’s gonna be a second marriage, but then Miyako noticed it and encouraged him to take a step forward.

He was so excited that looked like he had butterflies in his stomach everyday, so it was obvious at a glance. 

Azami: Butterflies in his stomach, huh…

*At the stage wing*

Manager: 10 minutes left before the performance starts~.

Taichi: How should I put it, after attending such a touching wedding, how can I perform a marriage fraud theme play…

Juza: It can’t be helped now.

Banri: What’s more, you’re even the one who deceives the groom. 

Taichi: Ugh, ugh, I can’t believe I’ll ruin such a sacred wedding like this~… I’ll try my best~!

Omi: You’re gonna do your best huh. 

Taichi: This time is a dual role so I have to get myself fired up! 

Sakyo: Well, I think I need to act to look like I’m completely deceived then.

Azami: And it’s gonna be a revenge then.

Taichi: Uugh, such a brutal combination…!

Izumi: Both of you got blonde hair and you two looked like buddies.

Banri: You said you didn’t want to match with Sakyo-san, but you ended up getting your hair blonde.

Azami: Not really. I just prioritize to match with the world view and character setting

Juza: It indeed suits Ethan’s image.

Taichi: You two somehow look like parents and child too.

Banri: Sakyo-san looks old so they’re more parents-and-child-like.

Omi: This time it’s the special hair and makeup that makes him look more dignified.

Sakyo: At least just say we look like brothers.

Izumi: Azami-kun, how do you feel before your long-awaited leading performance? Do you feel nervous?

Azami: Not at all. I’m all set and all I need to do now is to act my best.

Banri: No matter how much time passes, he’s our real cocky rookie.

Juza: Ethan’s expression of love for his fiancée is gettin’ better and better, so you don’t need to worry ‘bout anything.

Azami: Perhaps it’s the impact of attending an actual wedding.

Taichi: But in the end, you’ll be betrayed by me!

Sakyo: Well then, it’s time to form the huddle. Leading man, say something.

Azami: …This time performance is packed with lots of action scenes with guns, so you’re gonna have to go all out from the first day. However, you’re not allowed to sleep without skincare after going back to the dorm.

Juza: Oh, understood… 

Taichi: I don’t feel like doing it…!

Sakyo: The lead this time is completely a skincare demon no matter what.

19: Favorite Akigumi play?

Uhhh honestly I haven't read a lot of plays in general, and what I've read so far is mostly Harugumi ^^; but I'd probably have to say The Stranger! I really enjoyed learning more about Omi's past and seeing his bond with Taichi deepen. the story was v sweet and had some good development for both of them (plus Just For Myself is probably one of my favorite songs in the franchise) - I do have a feeling I'll really like The Rad Red and My Worst Wedding once I read those, too

It's hard to pick just one, but the first pair that came to mind was Itaru and Kumon! their outside work convo is really cute and silly, and it's fun to see them be chuuni together since neither of them really gets to do that with anyone else (besides on stage, ofc)

40: Any favorite costume designs?

Might be a bit obscure bc it's not from a play, but Chikage's costume from the "Ah, My Beloved" event that ran last November is sooooo good. Wisterias are one of my favorite flowers, so it felt special to see him wearing them 💚

As for play costumes, I could pick any number of them, too... But I'll be real. I've been reading chapter 9 lately and I Cannot Stop Thinking About Lucifer
