This is what I wrote in response to the hate Jimin was getting after SMF Pt 2 was released. Please read it.

The reaction k-pop stans had to Jimin's encore stage can be explained by the reasons I gave in that post.

To quote a relevant section:

"...so long as a project comes from a BTS member, the default inclination of most k-pop stans is to hate it. Nearly all the hate you’re seeing for Jimin’s Set Me Free Pt 2 was nearly guaranteed to begin with, the autotune just made it easy as the excuse. I mean, there’s a whole subset of k-pop fandoms who believe he can’t sing despite years of proof to the contrary. Since 2018 (precisely after BTS was awarded the Cultural Order of Merit award), the best case scenario from k-pop stans towards music released by BTS, is for them to ignore it. If you’re expecting any other reaction from k-pop stans besides avoidance or hate, you’re hoping for too much. Personally, I don’t think it’s a big deal, but I do think you need to calibrate your expectations to the reality of the environment you’re in. It’s one reason ARMYs are so fervent in their support of BTS."

If k-pop stans see that a comeback/debut from a BTS member is going to be massively successful, as Jimin's FACE was, they immediately go looking for anything to take away from that success. Fans of SM groups have also been on a campaign since the 2016 daesang loss of EXO to BTS, to assert that BTS is inferior to SM groups in terms of vocals, and so therefore BTS does not deserve their status as the biggest group in k-pop. They often target Jimin, Tae and Jin in these claims and constantly look for any chance to prove "Jimin can't sing". Even Jungkook sometimes gets attacked. After 2018 when BTS and Jimin were further differentiated from much of k-pop by the government, the wider k-pop fandom has joined SM stans to take every opportunity to make the group's status seem less legitimate and one reason they often cite is that BTS is less talented than other groups in vocals and they use Jimin as the scapegoat.

If you've ever doubted anything I've been saying about how k-pop fandom actually feels about BTS, that feeding frenzy from antis, k-pop stans, akgaes, the blatant schadenfreude on display over the clips of Jimin's encore stage, should disabuse you of every doubt atp. It's not like he's the only person who's had faulty in-ears during an encore and as a result was trying to find his key, he's not even the only person who has had a bad encore stage. Even Twice's Momo who made a similar gaffe during her encore for The Scientist, she didn't get as much of a backlash as Jimin did. It doesn't matter whether he can sing or not. They don't care about whether he can actually sing or else they would've seen all the several examples of Jimin singing comfortably and skillfully. The only thing k-pop stans are interested in, is humbling him. Jimin's unusual tone in k-pop makes him an easy target for many k-pop stans who read "different" as "bad".

As I've said before, Jimin is my favourite vocalist in BTS. He's an excellent vocalist in my opinion and I'm very proud of how he's improved since debut.

One thing about BTS that's true for them than it is for any group I've seen, is that they actually sing live more times than not.

It's more impressive for me that their vocals are still in good condition despite 10 years of going as hard as they've gone in their live renditions. It's impressive for Jimin especially given his high range and how he's only expanded and strengthened it over the years.

I don't think the encore stage 'affected' Jimin the way some people imply. He's his own harshest critic for better or worse, and I suspect there's nothing a kpoppie or stan could've written that Jimin didn't briefly consider himself. Of course all the chaos around it was embarrassing, that's expected, but also he's been through worse and if there's any legitimate criticism, the person who will get to the heart of the matter quickest is Jimin.

Jimin is already something of a beast of an idol, but after that encore stage and everything that happened during FACE, he's reflected on what he needs to do to become even better than he is...

...and I'm genuinely terrified for the future of k-pop because Jimin is about to become even more untouchable. I'm not even trying to gas him up or lean into my bias. With all the years I've watched him, Jimin isn't someone you want to bet against, ever, and a lot of people are going to be in for a rude awakening when he's ready to show what he's worked on. Ignore k-pop stans. They exist only to serve as background noise and spectate as Jimin continues to build on his artistry, continues to gain the respect of industry professionals, and thrive.

It is said that Yoongi's case is finally over! Apparently on the 27th of September the judge has signed off his summary indictment and he only has to pay a fine (I'm not mentioning the amount of money because no one really knows the actual amount but K-A.R.M.Ys said that since he is a famous and influential person with lots of money they are going to make him pay much more money than it is actually needed or such fine ever costs)! The case is finally closed unless Yoongi decides to protest the fine in the next 7 days which means that in that case the case will go to trial. A lot of news outlets are reporting on it however we should be cautious and wait for an official statement by Big Hit or Yoongi to really know if this is real!

Can't believe it took them almost 2 months for something that should have never been treated as a big deal! My question though is: what is he getting fined for since they said that what he was driving was not a vehicle?! If it isn't a vehicle then they can't actually fine him for drunk driving (this is also the reason why his driving license was not revoked too)! Like what do they mean DUI violation of the Road Traffic Act when it was confirmed he was not driving a vehicle, he was wearing a helmet, going super slow, he was on the pavement NOT on the road (it is legal to drive a scooter on the pavement in South Korea) and they never did a breathelyzer test on him?! Who are these people kidding?! It was never confirmed by anyone that he was drunk, it is a rumour all those K-media bullies kept on mentioning just because on his letter he said he went out for a drink! Having a drink doesn't necessarily mean you are drunk and Yoongi in his first letter on Weverse said he just went home after being stopped by the police. As you can see there are still loopholes in this case by the police's side that we will never learn the truth about, the police and the K-media are still trying to cover others' messes, crimes and scandals with Yoongi's case! I just wanted to thank you for writing this because this is exactly how I feel towards them and their relationship with each other (I used to be a TaeKook shipper but not anymore since I left the fandom 3 years ago due to personal reasons but they have been lingering in my mind over the years.)

I��m not sure whether they’re a couple or not because there are still several blind spots in the whole “TaeKook Is Real” thing for me that don’t seem logical to me (I’m talking about my “own” logic), but I have my own doubts about them and it’s literally so subjective and personal.

All I can say is they don’t behave like brothers, bandmates, friends, colleagues or even rivals as akgaes would like to depict them.

I've seen a few "Taekookers" that became solo akgaes during Layover and Golden and none of them are surprising. I'm not anti solo stan at all, because you can absolutely be a fan of only one member. They're all established solo artists now and this is normal. The problem is being hateful toward the other members. Ex-Taekookers who still obsess about Taekook/Taekookers are just so pathetic. No matter what the nature of Taekook's relationship is, those two love and are incredibly important to each other. These akgaes are fighting a losing battle and deeply disrespecting the person they claim to be a fan of. I wonder where these people are going to go when things don't end up the way they are hoping.

So either they are fucking a new girl/person every week, (which would be their prerogative and I hope it's good!) Or it's a bunch of baloney made up by a bitter and jealous person. Either way, it doesn't matter snd those people deserve zero amounts of anyone's attention.

Third, the photo that akgae account used came from a French Instagram celebrity gossip account. These things aren't hard to find if you actually apply yourself just a little anon. They look for clout wherever they can find it and have fixated on again, Tae and JK from BTS for their BTS gossip posts. Including posts about how they have confirmation taekook are dating. Posts about how JK is flirting hard and pursuing Lisa. Posts about how Tae and Jennie are a real couple, are still dating and how the narrative around the "leaked photos" wasn't true but the relationship is. Posts about JKs supposed non celeb girlfriend. All at the same time. So either taekook are the poly couple of the century (which if they are and JK is dating Jimin too, then clearly they are all fine with that and so your white knighting is still unnecessary, Tae also would probably want some of Jimins love too) or.... it's a bunch of clout chasing seeking engagement baloney. Use your brain. Please.

Fourth! There is zero indication that the person in the photo is even a) Jungkook, just because it sort of looks like him, doesn't necessarily mean it is, b) is him sitting down with that person because the angle is funny and the photo is blurry, he could just be walking past, c) that he is on a date with a woman because the other person's gender is unclear because all you see is a back and some black hair with undetermined length even too. And d) that if it is JK and he is sitting with someone, that the other people sitting there too aren't also with them and it was a group outing. Same thing for your other link too. The last few days have been nothing less than hell on the bird app, the anon requests on some of the blogs here are just people thinking they are so slick, but are just purely undermining Kookmin’s bond. I assume Naver is like one stop destination for SNS in Korea. I also see that the members have quit Twitter officially (I have no doubt they lurk though). Are ship wars this intense in the online spaces in Korea? Is it between the same ones we see on the I-Army side? I know shipping is a common theme in the pop space there and people might have healthier approach to it? This is also me being wishful that the members don’t see the pure vitriol that’s being expressed. Thank you in advance.

To put it shortly: no, such shipwars don't typically happen within k-army online spaces (at least not in the same way we know them) because there is never any need for debate around any meanings of words and no wiggle room for alternative explanations and seeing hidden signs in shadows. However, that doesn't mean that I have not come across any Korean accounts on Twitter that like to twist narratives and *especially* in case when their desired narratives feed into what their non-Korean speaking followers want to hear (they do like to take advantage of that language + cultural gap). As with every assessment though, Koreans are not a monolith, the same goes for k-armys or any netizens. There are some general tendencies but there will always be exceptions. Also it is important to note, even though the fandom largely organizes on the Twitter platform, I find it it less prominent among Korean ARMYs as to the amount of time they spend on there and the conversations that are held there.

From my perspective (my subjective opinion, therefore isn't unbiased and might not be representative of the whole community) ships or to be more accurate 'duos' / 'insert name line' are first and foremost among the majority about the members' chemistry, cute moments, looks, vocals and performances together; not about any potential romantic involvement of the two (that is not to say there are absolutely no Korean shippers of course). It is important to remember that the general premise has been that the idol sells their Korean fans the idea of a boyfriend/girlfriend, therefore the whole fantasy revolves around him/her and the fans having a connection, hence why for example idol dating life is still a big no no in the public etc.

To add, sadly since Korean fans can't get away with twisting the meanings of what the boys said (unless they want to appear ridiculous and stupid) the 'wars' therefore turn more vicious than that. There are some prominent 악개 akgae groups within the BTS fandom too which use all kinds of tactics to tarnish the reputation of the other members by spreading rumors through Korean forums, discussion boards, trending tags and by even reaching out to Korean reporters to run stories based on false evidence. So I would say, these things do happen, just in a different way because Korean online space can be truly unhinged.

I don't believe the members have ever witnessed any of the craziness on the international side as it for the most part thankfully only happens on the international side (objectivelly imagine if Koreans were having real arguments over, for example, the meaning of 동생 'dongsaeng' 😂😂😂 it sounds absolutely ridiculous). And in the instances they did, when e.g. someone tried to push a 'ship' narrative on any of them directly, we got the infamous 'get out of your imagination' response.

First of all motherfuckers if they’re solos, specifically Jimin solos, then whether they do a re-comeback, a streaming party or whatever the fuck they’re still solos and won’t interfere with any member’s release because them being solos would mean that they wouldn’t participate in streaming for any other member even with no Jimin related event you fuckwad.

Second of ALL, y’all be mad at Jimin stans for being defensive over Jimin and saying that another member’s re-comeback will still have Jimin songs in it, so why tf can’t you use this same logic and think that an eventual Jimin re-comeback would still have other members songs as well? When FACE dropped on my mama i’ve seen playlists that had equal amounts of Jimin songs and other member’s songs, i especially saw a lot of Jikook focused playlists for FACE where, if Like Crazy was repeated 10 times, Stay Alive was repeated 10 times, if Set me free pt2 was repeated 12 times, Euphoria was repeated 12 times, it was all equal and was both a boost for Jimin AND Jungkook, and this one is for motherfucking Akgaes barking about how this is an event extending during JJK1 aka his album release, but oh wait..

Speaking of an album release, THIRD OF FUCKING ALL!!! There is no official announcement, can’t people learn from the previous shit already? People took a Naver article bullshitting about an eventual release and ran with it, forgetting that Hybe never even confirmed that and to make it worse this happened before with Jimin himself, the one and only y’all bitches are mad about, it was again a Naver article claiming his album release was set on February then ended up being released a month later. 

Same fucking Naver claiming that Tae’s album release was upcoming too and that article was even older than the article about JK so people really over here looking for drama where there isn’t. If there’s any JK release without any official announcement at the very least a whole month before then i’d just assume it might be a single or a collab which again even a re-comeback project won’t interfere with it! 

As a Jimin and Jungkook stan i’m always so baffled at how people can barely use their brains and it makes me wonder how tf are these people supposed to be in college or have any type of diploma with a malfunctioning brain that can’t use common sense and basic logic, are some of these people supposed to be “professionals” that other people trust? The part that made me think of you is how flatearthers called the scientists uneducated, said they did their own calculations and made their own observations to arrive at fringe theories that disputed the wider consensus. I found it so strange how both scientists and flat earthers could observe the same thing but reach widely different conclusions. I know you've been going over and over with solos for some months so I hope this can make you laugh a bit BPP.

Lol, Anons in asks 1 through 4, why are you letting your minds torment you over things that should be obvious? Anon in ask 5, you sent me that ask last week, but it feels apt to post it now given the sort of asks I've gotten in the last few hours.

How many times can we go over the sort of conspiratorial thinking that plagues people who eventually become akgaes, thought patterns that have been shown several times this year to be completely misguided? If the only conclusion you can reach after everything we've seen in the last 10 months, after seeing Jikook, Taekook, Yoonmin, Vmin, and Yoonkook's conversations recently, is that 'someone' must be trying to pull a fast one on you, then maybe you should take a step back.

Honestly, in my opinion, you all fit the profile of people who should engage with k-pop very sparingly. Most times, I've observed these sort of views (also in the case of flat-earthers) are caused by gaps in foundational knowledge about the subject coupled with personal implicit biases. I see this happen all the time, and it's unfortunately the sorts of people who think like this who only get further sucked in, to the point they lose any semblance of a reference point. If you're still at the point you're asking these questions, especially Anon in ask 1, 2 and 3, there's still a chance. I'd suggest a clean break, a detox period, and very limited exposure going forward but starting from scratch and actually watching official content from the early years. A lot of people who joined the fandom post-2020 have only seen compilations and selected clips of BTS's formative years, and so they lack the background to better interpret everything that's happening in Chapter 2 - from why HYBE wouldn't respond to akgaes whining about cakes by posting it right away, to how vminkook have behaved throughout Chapter 2.

With flat earthers it's funny because in a bid to be skeptical, to 'question everything' so they aren't "played as a fool", they end up becoming just that. For most other people there's no joke, but for them the joke is always on them.

Thanks for the video, Anon in ask 5. But rather than make me laugh, it did the opposite. The conclusion of the video is that no flat-earther, not one, changed their minds after debating with the scientists. I had a theory that the people who end up as akgaes were always going to be that regardless of any arguments that run contrary to their beliefs, because at the heart of it, it's not about the arguments but about them. But I hoped I could be wrong. Extrapolating the conclusion of this video to my theory, the suggested implication is bleak as hell.

Hello! I hope you’re doing well <33 I only recently got into sechskies (i know, very late 😭) and the fandom has ofcourse been through a lot. But i came across korean jiwon stans (still yelowkies not solo stans) and omg they really hate sh? Everyone kinda knows that sh is a trainwreck but no international stan hates him that much. Is there perhaps some lore behind this? I didn’t know who to ask so sorry if this question is a bother 🫣

Jiwon akgaes are.... Interesting. Honestly it's a bit hard to talk about because they are the biggest part of the fandom. 1Kyne generally are really lovely most of the time even if they don't support Sechskies as a whole , but the akgaes who blur out the other members, petition yg for only Jiwon to comeback, and report posts with other members are the worst. Usually in any other fandom you can ignore akgaes but unfortunately since Jiwon's popularity is much higher than Jekki's at a whole right now it's difficult. Jiwon has had years of being the main cast in variety shows so a lot of his fans aren't fans of Jekki at all. So it's tricky.

I think the reason Sunghoon isn't hated as much internationally is because either as non Korean speaking fans they understand the situation differently. Also with the whole leaving hate comments about the members online thing- there is still plausible deniabilty. I've never seen any proof either way that confirms he did or didn't do a lot of the things he's been accused of. Like he won in several court cases but that doesn't prove he didn't write those messages. (But also the posts "sounding" like him doesn't prove it either.)

I haven't asked any Jiwon akgaes why they hate Sunghoon so much (because I'm afraid of them LOL) but I'm sure there is a part of it that includes Sunghoon "betraying" Jiwon, and bringing down his reputation too.

A lot of international Yellowkies I know who were around during the drama just stick to loving Sechskies and remembering the good old days. I think the general consensus is that Sunghoon is a bit of an idiot and has made mistakes but nobody really hates him. Just frustrated that it all happened when Jekki were becoming popular again.

To me personally hes a bit cringe but so are the other members ajdjciisdk. All the current and ex members have made stupid mistakes in their past, honestly if you stan anyone older than 30 you should expect at least one dui. 💀

So a fanartist I used to follow here on tumblr before she moved to twitter, recently got exposed for not only being a fake shipper and OT7, but a fully deranged Jimin anti.

Like imagine this bitch being all bubbly drawing ot7 or jikook or whatever other ship art (she also made a few Jimin fanarts for 'FACE' which she was selling as prints). But on the side had 2 other accounts being a full on JK akgae, liking and retweeting posts openly shading Jimin (especially those nasty tweets where antis call him animal names). Talking shit like she hopes jk beats jimin's records to "prove" that Jimin's solo debut was a "fraud"???

Like you're already making money off of them with your mediocre art, atleast have some DIGNITY ffs...

More embarrassing still? When I first joined twitter through a lurk acc I made back then (when twitter started limiting access to posts if you weren't logged in). I looked her up with other artists I used to follow here on tumblr who also migrated to twitter only to find out she was really problematic & entitled (I found her harassing another artist that I followed, and all over both of them allegedly using "the same reference photo" or pose. So she was trying to gaslight the poor girl into apologizing to HER for "stealing her idea" while also threatening to send her horde of followers to report her, only to get CALLED OUT by her own followers).

Imagine being that petty?

But now that I know she's been a Jimin anti this whole time, it all kinda makes sense.
