No one asked but here's some thoughts about Stephen's current and future life.
First of all (and to be completely honest), before Blood Hunt, I do think Stephen was starting to find joy in being the Sorcerer Supreme now that things were seemingly going well in his life.
Just to name a few, he befriended his general self, his marriage was rekindled, Mordo was finally locked down, Clea and Umar were starting to find a common ground (at least, they were not enemies anymore) and Donna II happened, blessing their lives. Stephen was finally thriving. He was executing his duties just fine despite the challenges of being Earth's magical defender. Conflict was obviously expected but it was far from the struggles he faced in v4, for instance. There was optimism.
Tumblr media
The fact that he seems sad in that Pasqual's post could be about anything but if I was to predict why, I'd say it's because 1) he didn't want to pass the mantle down at this point in his life and 2) he didn't want to pass the mantle down to Victor specifically because well, it's Doom. And let's be real, Jed's interpretation of their relationship is not similar to T&T or Infamous Iron Man or even Secret Wars. Even if Victor is rarely portrayed as a villain these days (more like an antagonist), there's still a certain dread whenever he shows up in stories. So it's only natural for Stephen to be worried about what's coming next.
Personally, I think Victor will not be a bad Sorcerer Supreme. He's competent and incredibly complex. There's altruism in him, especially when it comes to protect Latverians and people in general (Doom 2099 my beloved). And let's not forget about his dramatic ego and petty personality. If anything, I'd go for a gray representation. He will not be the king of altruism (aka Stephen), but he will not be a shallow villain by desecrating the mantle (something I'm pretty sure Mordo would do. Hate that guy). That said... Oh, he's also in for a big surprise, not expecting the burden that comes with such a huge responsibility. But that's just my two cents. Could always be wrong. However, I still remember when he tried to go after Jericho and gave up as soon as the light of the Eye of Agamotto hit him, so... This idea does have canon support.
Tumblr media
(panel merely illustrative; from an alt future/reality)
As for Stephen and Clea, what comes next for them? I know the fandom is desperate for domestic vibes and a peaceful era for them. But let's be real, it's Marvel. Also it's Stephen and Clea. For starters, Clea is still the Warlord of Manhattan, which means that area will remain under her protection, tying her to our dimension. As for Stephen... We know him, right? We know he will never stop doing what he does, Sorcerer Supreme or not. We have tons of magic characters doing their jobs. Even when magic was practically dead, he found a way to keep doing good because it's intrinsic of his personality. And let's not forget Wong and W.A.N.D. They still need someone reliable, and I hardly think they'll go for Victor when consulting all things mystical. Oh, and Strange Academy, of course.
Last but not least, every change in status quo hardly lasts more than a year or two in comic books. It happened so many times before: Salomé, Jericho, Loki, even Clea. It was only natural for Victor's turn, given how T&T is such an important book to their mythos.
As for me? I think it's not really fair for me to share my feelings assuming how much I love both Victor and Stephen. I've seen some unhappy fans (and I can't relate, sorry 🥲) and some excited ones.
The reason I'm still kinda blue is merely due to the lack of new announcements, whether it's a new Doctor Strange book or a mini featuring Victor. Also it's almost certain that Jed is done with his work, which hit me like a train. I really don't want to say goodbye to Jed just yet, and seeing his work continue with Moon Knight while going for the X-books makes me a bit bitter. There's still the possibility that he's staying, but it's all conjecture at this point. I mean, I dread that some bad writer comes next, and boi do I have a no-no list. Hopefully, SDCC will shed some light on these dark times of uncertainty.
Well, that's it. Do I ramble a lot? Was not expecting to write such a long post, sorry about that (old testament me comeback?). Just wanted to write down my thoughts since they were making a mess in my head. If anything, I'll still be around for whatever comes next. After all, my love for Stephen knows no shame 🔥

Bio & Verses
Tumblr media Tumblr media
GENERAL
Name: Nathanael Hunt
Date of Birth: November 10th 1997
Age: 25 (though I can rp him as anything from 6 to 50 & have often rped him as around 30)
Nationality: American, from Chicago, Illinois.
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Homosexual
Family: Alice Hunt (mother), Jonah Hunt (father), Gabrielle (older sister)
APPEARANCE
Height: 173 cm (5'8")
Body shape: Slender/Ectomorph
Eye colour: Warm/Golden Brown
Hair colour: Golden Blond
Face Claim(s): Benjamin Stone, Taeil Jung (My Sweet Spooky Darling)
Icon credits: Unless otherwise mentioned, I’ve made the icons myself.
SPECIFIC
Personality in short: A caring feeler with a strong backbone.
Strengths: Optimistic, loyal, idealistic, honest, patient, selfless, sensitive to the needs of others, protective, hard working, curious, trustworthy, reliable, passionate.
Weaknesses: Stubborn, often too hard on himself, have bouts of self-doubt, have a tendency to talk first and think later when stressed aka endless rambling, trusts too easily and tend to think the best of people, tendency to repress his own emotions and needs for the sake of others.
Fears: Moths and hurting others.
Interests: If caring for others could be an interest, then that would be his main ‘hobby’. Otherwise, music, Nat loves music and is actually quite good at singing, but few gets to hear that. He also enjoys running, it helps him clear his thoughts, and tries to put some time in for that on most days.
Not an interest, but bringing him food will be appreciated, he can’t cook at all (he burn instant noodles) and have a tendency to delay eating to later, whenever that is.
MAIN VERSES
Marvel: Nathanael is a mutant with the ability to manipulate ‘life force’, giving him the ability to heal, but also to drain life from others. He generally tries to live a low profile life, but he won’t hesitate to step out of his way to help anyone and he would even out himself as a mutant if it meant saving someone’s life, no matter if it’s another mutant or not. Nat also believes that human and mutants can learn to coexist and that most of the hate and suspicion that exist towards mutants are based on fear and lack of knowledge.
If he’s an adult, he’ll be working as a paramedic. There is a subverse where he works for SHIELD, but that’s not the standard in his Marvel rps unless the other muse is a SHIELD agent.
If set in MCU, Nat was one of those who didn’t get blipped/dusted.
Default location: New York
DC: Metahuman with the ability to manipulate life force. Background is darker than Marvel with him being kicked out from home at 12 after the incident that activated his metagene. Depending on which alternative of this verse, his future/life can be more or less dark.
Usually works as a paramedic.
Default location: Gotham
SECONDARY VERSES
Assassin’s Creed: Nat was born into a Templar family who all died in an ‘accident’ and he then got taken in by an Assassin. When he’s 15, he finds out that his family’s death wasn’t an accident and about the more cruel and bloody sides of the Assassins. He has a fight with his adoptive father and then runs away. Due to having 2% Isu genes, he has some special abilities, in his case, the ability to heal others and sense their ‘life force’. An ability that first started to show shortly before the family accident. [verse 2: AC - Odyssey]
Honkai: Star Rail: Nat was born on a planet worshipping the Abundance. It was later destroyed by the Xianzhou Alliance, but he survives. He's later saved and as an adult, he works as a travelling healer/doctor.
Star Trek: Here Nat is a half-bajoran Starfleet medical doctor. TOS/AOS is my to go to verse, but any of the movies or series works too.
Xianxia: (MDZC/TGCF etc): Here, his name is Ji NaiZhu and he was found by a rogue cultivator when he was just a baby. Why he was left to die is unknown, but it could’ve been due to him having unusual colouring and that being seen as bad luck or evil. However, it could also have been due to poverty, born out of wedlock or any other reason. The cultivator who found him, Ji JiangHe, had not planned on keeping him, but fate wanted otherwise. As an adult, he joins his adoptive father’s footsteps.
TERTIARY VERSES
Ancient/Spartacus:Here Nat, or Lucius as the Romans named him (real name is Narding), is a slave. He came from a Germanic tribe and were captured around the age of seven. Sold to a man with the liking for boys, it was eventually discovered that he had a natural talent for healing wound and illness. As his Dominus had lost most of his interest for him, but still wished to make his slave useful (and hos Dominus is a bit of a hypochondriac as well), he made sure he got the training needed to become a medicus. What happened after this is verse dependent, but his Dominus has a liking for gamble, wine and games.
Demon: In this verse, Nat is a demon, but a very unsuccessful demon. Demons are not supposed to care about humans. They are not supposed to help them, unless they get their soul in return. Demons are supposed to cause suffering, but Nat hates seeing people in pain, so he helps them instead. Due to his lack of success, he’s the lowest level of demon and not particularly powerful. Unknown to him, however, is that he isn’t fully a demon. No, his father was actually a human.   ⤷ Obey Me: This verse is based on the universe in the dating game Obey Me! One Master to Rule Them All. Here his mother was a human witch and his father an unknown demon.   ⤷ Shadowhunters: Nat is a warlock, born to a human mother and demon father. Not that most would think he’s one, appearing more soft and compassionate than most of his kind. Although he can do different kinds of magic, he mainly focus on healing magic (as well as herbology). His warlock mark is small pointed horns (think goat kid) and golden goat eyes, and he was born at the beginning of the 20th century.
Fantasy: This was one of Nathanael’s first verses and it’s based on the Dragonlance world (books, never played the rpg). Here, Nat is a half-elf and a wandering healer. Although he has powers to heal by touch, he isn’t sure where the power comes from and why him, he also keeps his ability a secret for various reasons. Since he’s also skilled in more conventional healing, including herbalism, he mostly uses that unless there is an absolute need for his healing abilities. Being an half-elf, he’s usually seen as an outsider and discriminated against both among humans and elves, however, he does nothing to hide his elven features, such as his pointed ears.
Modern: Not much to say about this. It’s modern time and Nat is a paramedic. he got bullied as a kid and his mum refuse to speak with him since he came out as homosexual.
PJO/Demigod: In this verse, Nat is a halfblood, a demigod, and his godly parent is Apollo (which obviously mean his mum is human.) If preferred, this verse can also take place in ancient times.

Max Thunderman deserved better man. This boy was always favoured to his twin sister. They were Always on her side, clearly showing favouritism. His own siblings favour Phoebe over him and whenever he tries to help them, they always make it worse.
Whenever he did something nice, they don't even think he was being generous like How Dare He Be Nice To Us For A Change! Like when he won a pizza competion and the owner was sending free fish pizza and they are like just tell her that you cheated! They don't even believe that he won fair and square.
Don't even get me started on Phoebe. This bitch has THE FUCKING NERVE to ruin his plans and always being favoured. Maybe the reason he wants to be a villain is because of you constatly being a dick to him. Chloe LITTERALY sent him to the North Pole just because he was her favourite sibling.
You quite litteraly sent him to a jail cell in his own room, taking everything away from him and he cared about, even Doctor Collouso, just because he talked to the biggest villain in the world, but what did you expect, he had a poster of him for a while now and you never asked him why he had that? And even all of that, he still saved them against him.
So what does he get? A New cape and he is treated slighty better. Are you fucking kidding me?
His beat friend aka his pet bunny is one of the most powerful villains in their universe and you just left him there with him? What did you expect he will turn?
In short, Max Thunderman is the best character in the show and deserves a better family.

Bsd pregnant S/o 1 pt. 1
25 post event. 11/25. -pt. 2 (Dazai and Chuuya)
-Bsd their crush getting pregnant 2 pt. 1 (coming soon)
Characters: (Atsushi x you) (Akutagawa x you)
General: headcannon
Text type: Pine point
Warning: slight cursing
Master list
Tumblr media
Atsushi Nakajima
You were currently eating breakfast next your lover Atsushi until you feel very nauseous and ran to the bathroom as fast as you can to throw up
How would Atsushi react to you suddenly feeling sick? Honestly worried (he doesn't like seeing you sick) but got even more worried when you started to always feel that way. He even consulted suggested seeing a doctor
How does Atsushi react to you claiming your pregnant with his child? He's shocked. At first he didn't even move a muscle because of the shock of being told he'll become a father. After you eventually snap him back to reality he wasn't able to figure out if he should be happy or worried so he collapsed onto your stomach wrapping his arms around it as an exuse to have more time to think
What would he generally do during your pregnancy? Keep an eye on you, period. He's really stressed, he loves you but he doesn't think that he is ready to be a father just yet and he absolutely doesn't want to abandon you just because HE got YOU pregnant (it's not your fault it's his). So, he'll try his best to take care of you correctly while he thinks about his next move
Pain, he doesn't like it one bit. If you take your anger out on him? He'll be very upset and will think he's such a useless boyfriend for not helping you correctly. If you end up apologizing while crying? He'll forgive you (not that he was mad at you in the first place)
Cravings, really confused. Like why do you want sugar on your rice? (Cough cough Tetcho) but still gets you what you want unless it's something that could potentially harm you
Loneliness, he'll always be there to give you company. It can be stuff like hugs, cuddles, kisses, more quality time, ect... But he'll try his best to be there whenever you need him
His Feelings, still worried and stressed. He wants to support you and the baby, but doesn't need know to but work harder to accumulate more money in order to be stably financial (this boy is so thoughtful) but please make him take a break once in a while
What would he personally do with your baby bump? I see Atsushi as the type be slightly afraid of touching it (he doesn't want to hurt you or the baby) but once you've confirmed that he can touch you he'll do something. I honestly see him just laying on your lap as if he was reading a book using the bed as a table while he stares at your stomach (aka where the unborn baby is) with complete intensity and calmness, still trying to process the news (sometimes he thinks he's dreaming when the love of his life got pregnant and claims it's his child)
Would he pay for the baby's needs? He would try. Like Atsushi isn't the richest person, but he doesn't want you stressing yourself about paying for the baby's needs (such a sweetheart). So I'll bet you that he would work harder in order to accumulate more money in hopes to ease your stress
When your pregnancy finally effects with your working capabilities, it's not a joke when I say he'll do anything for you. Like if your pencil fell and you were about to bend to get it, not anymore, Atsushi's already on the ground to give you your pencil. (Even if you don't work at the agency) he'll get you to stay in the agency so he and the others (aka the agency members) can keep an eye on you. Ps. He's not letting you work anymore
How Protective is Atsushi to their s/o? He's not really overprotective towards others but he's ether overprotective over everything you do. Like example, your going down the stairs when your 5 months pregnant, Atsushi will act as your supporter even if you don't need it or he might even carry you down the stairs to save the trouble of going down in fear that you will fall
How does the rest of the Agency react to thier coworker getting his girl pregnant?
Osamu Dazai: Dazai is like Atsushi's mentor in a way (and absolutely made sure he seem like he preferred Atsushi over Akutagawa *he didn't even spared Akutagawa's feelings*) so when he heard the news that he was going to quote and quote become an uncle he's slightly ecstatic but couldn't help himself but wonder how it was possible for him to become a father at such a young age
Kyoka Izumi: doesn't exactly understand at first. But, once Atsushi explains that she'll have a younger sibling (I see Atsushi and Kyoka mostly has a sibling relationship with each other) she becomes ecstatic to eventually meet her *little bundle of light* (Ps. That's Kyoka's nickname for the child)
Doppo Kunikida: was in complete denial, until he took them seriously after one full minute of pure silent. Let me tell you he went berserk, he didn't expect the *brat* (that's what he calls Atsushi) to get a girl pregnant. He went into a complete meltdown too...
Ranpo Edogawa: when the both of you entered he knew what was going to come and literally choked on a piece of candy. Everyone's looking at Ranpo worriedly asking if he's all right. But, when Atsushi announced it no one believed him until Ranpo confirmed it. Now everyone knows why he choked on a piece of candy. I see him not really caring if you're pregnant or not. But if he sees either Yosano or Fukuzawa really interested in the matter but mostly Fukuzawa he'll get himself interested
Akiko Yosano: just like Ranpo, chokes on on her morning coffee when she finally decided to take them serious. Couldn't believe it, it took her like 10 full minutes till she actually accepted 60% of the story. She even made you take a pregnancy test with her just to confirm it and 100% asked if you're certain that Atsushi's the father. After she confirmed that you were pregnant with his child, that's when the chaos was set free
Junichiro Tanizaki: honestly thought he was joking. until, Ranpo confirmed it. He wasn't complete denial even afterwards he's like "you're joking right" "please tell me a joke" but when Atsushi looked into his eyes seriously hinting that he wasn't joking... He completely went into meltdown phase
Naomi Tanizaki: didn't believe it at first at all so just her casually making suspicious jokes to her brother while TOUCHING him in an inappropriate manner. That was until Ranpo confirm that it was true, honestly her mouth was hanging. She was mentally thinking "WHAT THE FU-" like she couldn't believe her ears
Kenji Miyazawa: innocent boy, all he said was congratulations. He doesn't really know where babies come from, so why would he be so shocked. (I'm honestly not surprised if he was told that it's when a man and a woman loves each other excuse)
Yukichi Fukuzawa: before you can never catch him off guard? Think again, he was completely shocked but try to keep his composure. He didn't expect this at all, all he thought was that Atsushi was an innocent traumatized child that he recruited. Either way he still congratulated them on the news, despite his complete shock that he even had any sexual interaction that was more than a kiss with another human being
How does the rest of the (lover's work) act around their coworker's girl aka you?
Osamu Dazai: most definitely not a helpful person to interact with while your pregnant. Like if you're suffering with pain and you're alone with him, he doesn't exactly know what to do, the only thing he could do is probably rub your back and that's it. But will protect you, not against his life because you guys don't exactly have a personal connection. But on the other hand, he's very proud of Atsushi for living his life the way he wants, without feeling pity for himself
Kyoka Izumi: since Atsushi's been dating you, she liked you very much because you were something that made Atsushi happy all the time and she really likes that about you. But when she overheard a fact that pregnant woman can become really vulnerable easily (you can't tell me otherwise, it would hurt so bad if someone punched your stomach at full speed especially when you're pregnant!) So she made her personal mission to protect you. Meaning she's by your side almost 24/7 to protect you, keep an eye on you, help you, ect... And would go baby shopping with you
Doppo Kunikida: he would not exactly be too bothered to pay attention to you. But, he would have his moments when he would dote on you a bit on what should be healthy for the child that you're caring and what would help relieve pain according to doctors
Ranpo Edogawa: doesn't pay attention to you honestly. But, depending on how well he knows you, he might let you have some snacks when you're going through an odd occurrence of cravings
Akiko Yosano: wouldn't pay too much attention to you. But would be protective. She would most likely be that one friend that would want to come to every appointment to make sure the doctors don't try anything funny (might even check on you herself) and she would be absolutely obsessed on going baby shopping with you
Junichiro Tanizaki: I see him acting completely normal. He would help you a bit more and would be a bit shy because he's not too certain on how to approach you without accidentally seeming rude
Noami Tanizaki: not exactly handsy on you, except if her brother isn't in the agency at the moment (you're her second option of someone she would bother). But is extremely nice and (a little) overbearing. She would probably be one of those people that would absolutely want to join you when you're shopping for baby, for clothes or anything in general that relates to the baby
Kenji Miyazawa: I honestly think that he'll still treat you the same. But, tries to be more delicate with you (after harming you with his super strength. he felt extremely guilty) and he would will help you a lot as if it was his job
Yukichi Fukuzawa: not much have changed because he is known to treat others as if we're all equals (probably Mori is an exception) but, would be a tad bit softer towards you. (Honestly he treats all of the agency members as if they were his children without being too soft) so hearing you are pregnant secretly gave him an invitation on being a grandfather for the child. He would occasionally invite you to his office to have his cup of tea and talk about basically anything that's on your mind
Overall the agency is really nice and comforting when it comes to you (their happy that Atsushi's happy with you) they will treat you and your baby as if you just became family to them (I honestly think the agency treats all of their members as family "even when they have a fit of arguing and or being rude to each other")
Labor
What were you doing before? I can imagine you were taking a walk with Atsushi and Kyoka though a park because you complained that you were bored and wanted to go for a walk until you suddenly collapsed into a fit of pain because your water broke
How does Atsushi react to you, having broken your water? He's panicking alot. To the point that it took him 3 full minutes to finally do something about it
His behavior while you're giving birth, while you're giving birth he's really antsy to help you out of pain and received his newborn (ever since you told him, he's been dieing to met the baby)
His behavior afterwards AKA after finally being allowed to hold your child, he couldn't help but shake a tab bit violently as he burst into tears of joy after being allowed to hold his child. He was slightly afraid he would harm the small thing (he didn't expect a baby would be that small and frail) he insteadly made a vow to protect you and the baby from any harm (he already had fell in love with the baby) and he of course thanked you for giving birth (he still felt bad for the pain you had to go through). After all those months of worrying and stressing, it was worth it (literally! after receiving his child, all of his anxiety suddenly disappeared and became upmost joy)
* There will be another post called "Life as a family" that will specify what type of dad that I believe (lover's name) like towards his child(ren)* PS. I will mention the gender of the child(ren)*
Tumblr media
Ryunosuke Akutagawa
You were organizing your apartment that you shared with your lover Akutagawa while he was at work until you fell very nauseous and ran to the washroom. After minutes of constantly throwing up Akutagawa surprisingly came home early and saw the unique scene
How would Akutagawa react to you suddenly feeling sick? He doesn't like it it reminds him of how sickly he acts. The more it continues, the more he becomes worried. He eventually brought you to Mori to make sure you're all right (he doesn't trust civilian doctors
How does Akutagawa react to you claiming your pregnant with his child? Absolutely shocked, he doesn't know what to do with a child let alone take care of one properly (Cough cough Kyoka). But, he decided to stay because only a coward would run away from this type of situation and he was no coward when it comes to danger. And he loved you, he couldn't imagine a world without you so he stayed...
What would he generally do during your pregnancy? Honestly I think he would also keep an eye on you. Why, he know very well that pregnancy can be a nuisance in physical capabilities, meaning it is so easy for you to be harmed and that fact makes him very stressed (he has so many enemies, he doesn't want you to be harmed and being pregnant makes it easier for them to come after you)
Pain, doesn't like seeing you in pain, period. If you take your anger out on him? He'll be very upset and slightly irritated. If you end up apologizing while crying? He'll forgive you (yes he's mad at you, but it's not your fault that these mood swings are normal during pregnancy nor is it your fault you got pregnant)
Cravings, doesn't understand it at all at all. He's mentally questioning life as he sees you eating macaroni and cheese with ketchup and mustard (the ketchup with macaroni and cheese not bad but mustard ummmm... No) he would help you with your cravings, but he won't exactly get you everything that you want (because he doesn't understand why you need ice cream at 2:00 a.m.)
Loneliness, he would get out of his comfort zone a little and give you a bit more affection. He'll kiss your forehead, let you cuddle him, lets you hold his hand and might even carry you in public just to bring up your mood ever so slightly
His Feelings, he loves you very much but he doesn't understand the random tantrums that you would throw. And was secretly clear the child every time he or she repeatedly hit your stomach. Until you said it was natural for them to do that
What would he personally do with your baby bump? Honestly I can see him only placing a hand over your stomach to feel the child or he would even place a ear near your stomach to hear the child's heartbeat. It gives him so much calm that his child is healthy and well because he can't exactly see the child and doesn't know if the child suffering or not and he wants to protect his child. Depending on how tired he is, he might even fall asleep with his head resting on your stomach
Would he pay for the baby's needs? Yes, he would. He already had a lot of money from working in the pm (not as much as the executives but still) so why not spend it to properly take care of his family. He doesn't exactly want you to be working especially when you're pregnant (he's worried that some jackass will harm you when he's not around)
When your pregnancy finally effects with your working capabilities, honestly before that happens he's already ripped you off of work. He'll probably even rip you off only two months in. But, he's on top of you all the time now. If you need any help he'll do it himself or tell you is not necessary and both of you could do it another time. Anything that's dangerous is a no no. Like going down the stairs, he'll pick you up himself or even let Rashomon pick you up just to save him the trouble of potentially taking care of you if you fell down the stairs
How Protective is Akutagawa to their s/o? If you thought you would protect it before, you seen nothing yet. He'll be on top of you 24/7. Like no joke you'll follow you around as if he's your new shadow. He is both protective of you against others and everything you do. If anyone were to harm you in any way you wouldn't hesitate to split their throats with Rashomon
How does the rest of the Port Mafia react to thier coworker getting his girl pregnant?
Gin Akutagawa: she's very shocked. She's happy for her brother on the good news and congratulate them. But, still very shocked that her brother even attempted touching you in affectionately. But in general she's very happy to be an aunt
Ichiyo Higuchi: she's very happy for her senpai but is extremely jealous. (Because we all know that she has feelings for your lover Akutagawa) feel very jealous and wished to be you. Like sometimes she would even imagine being in your shoes and receiving all the love he offers you without hesitation. And she kinda hates you for your such good fortune but tens to hide it in order to be around her senpai
Michizo Tachihara: laugh his ass of thinking it was a joke. When he's been confirmed that it wasn't a joke. he is slightly terrified and confused because he never expected the emo black-fanged Hellhound would ever commit to a sexual relationship
Ryuro Hirotsu: he's shocked but he kept his composure very well. But didn't hesitate to congratulated them on the news once he's realized that it was actually good news. (He didn't want to say congratulations and realized that it was actually awful news that you got pregnant)
Chuuya Nakahara: he's shocked but soon thought that it was a silly joke that Dazai told Akutagawa to do. When the both of them sat silence staring at each other's soul, that's when he realized he was a joking. He literally had a cursing fit, so confused on what's going on. But once he calm down he congratulated Akutagawa on the news after he asked if it was good news that he got you pregnant
Motojiro Kajii: no one ever told him and he wouldn't care either way. Sometimes I think he doesn't even know who Akutagawa is. (Because you can't blame me he's a guy that's insanely hook up on some bombs and tend to blow up stuff up randomly of course no one's going to tell him directly)
Kyusaku Yumeno: innocent boy number #2, (we'll just say that Q loves and care about you as if you were his mother/sister) as I said he is innocent he does not know how children are made or at least not yet. So when you explain that there's a child in your stomach he started to panic and was going to kill the thing until you said that it was natural and that's where babies start from... And then he was like "oh okay". Now he knows that the child will eventually come out in 9 months so he's very excited. It's like a child excited for the summer vacation or Christmas to come around again
Koyo Ozaki: absolutely shocked... But is secretly happy that a member from the PM that is mentally broken in a way is finding happiness with a girl. She congratulate Akutagawa but it's still overly shocked that he even had a girlfriend in the first place
Elise: (we'll say that Elise likes you) she's obsessed. At first you didn't even know who you were but all she knew is that your Akutagawa's girlfriend carrying his child. And he really wants your child to become her friend
Ogai Mori: shocked, just shocked. Even when he was the doctor that figured out the news. He generally shocked that his black-fanged Hellhound is dating an innocent angel and got her pregnant. He thought that Akutagawa was going to be single forever (but, guess again!)
How does the rest of the Port Mafia act around their coworker's girl aka you?
Gin Akutagawa: you think that Ryunosuke is your only protector? Think again you got both of the Akutagawa siblings as your protector (not that they were already protecting you in the first place) but they're more aggressively protective now. Overall she would protect you, care for you, help you... Heck she would even go baby shopping with you
Ichiyo Higuchi: just generally ignores you. She's jealous but she doesn't want to make any rude comments to you in case that Akutagawa heard her. No wouldn't exactly protect you with her life nor help you. But it's her senpai is there? she will help you, hoping it would impress her senpai (Even if she doesn't like you) (but at least she doesn't hate you or despise you but just doesn't like you in general)
Michizo Tachihara: not much actually, he acts like his normal self just strolling around, might act aggressive. But if no one's in the room he might be a little softer and help you a bit (not too much to the point it seems like he likes you more than friends)
Ryuro Hirotsu: he doesn't exactly does much either. But he's a bit more open to help you out. He'll make small remarks on certain aspects. Like example, if you seem a little underweight, tired and a tad bit pale, he'll strongly suggest that you take a break and if you refuse? he'll gently force you and or point those remarks he made to either Gin or Ryunosuke for them to deal with it (the Akutagawa siblings are grateful that he keeps an eye on you)
Chuuya Nakahara: you don't see him much, but randomly he would be babysitting you in a way. If either Gin or Ryunosuke are too busy to keep an eye on you you're normally with either Chuuya or Koyo for the meantime. (He may act like he doesn't appreciate your company, but, if he realizes that he upsets you too much, he'll act very soft towards in order to cheer you up)
Motojiro Kajii: the Akutagawa siblings does not let you anywhere near him (hello..? the bombs... The BOMBS!?! Of course they won't let you anywhere near him if all he's going to do is activate bombs left and right like he's a psychopath)
Kyusaku Yumeno: as I said imagine if he thinks of you as a big sister. He's like your third protector, if anyone were to harm you? they would be on the ground. But he's very sweet towards you, hugs and cuddles all the time as he counts the days until he can meet *the so-called baby that could change his life in a positive matter*
Koyo Ozaki: almost never sees her…but she would go baby shopping with you! No she wouldn't protect you with her life but she wouldn't hesitate to smack some no good thugs that thinks it's interesting to flirt with you
Elise: as I said imagine if Elise ends up really liking you after meeting you. She would try to get to know you way more than anyone else. Would 100% beg Mori to allow her to go baby shopping with you. And possibly ask when the child gets older if they could have playdates. She would also protect you once she gets too attached (in an aggressive way)
Ogai Mori: didn't think much of you and try to ignore you. But when Elise started liking you so much. He couldn't help but get to know you as well. Surprisingly he would take a day off to go shopping with you and obviously Elise to get items for the child. If it weren't for Elise he probably ignore your existence all together. Honestly he thinks it's a good idea that perhaps your child could have playdates with his Elise
Overall the PM isn't too obsessed over you but they would protect you a little because you're slightly family to them now. (There's some moments where they treat each other as family but it's mostly them beating each other up into a crisp) but most of the time they're very ignorant of you
Labor
What were you doing before? I could seriously imagine you taking a walk outside the PM until your water broke and some strangers had to call the hospital because you were alone without a goddamn phone
How does Akutagawa react to you, having broken your water? He's terrified but even more terrified to know that you were outside without anyone to help you and luckily some strangers decided to help you. But once he got the phone call he is almost fucking sprinting to the hospital
His behavior while you're giving birth, worried... He didn't like the screens and wish the nurses could help you. And even more worried because what if his disguise was compromised. They would try to take you and his child away from him. So, he tried to stay vigilant and not allowed anyone to lay a finger on him
His behavior afterwards AKA after finally being allowed to hold your child, he just stood there emotionlessly holding your child as surprisingly small tears poured out of his eyes. As he gently hold the child he made a vow to protect both you and the child even if it costs his life (isn't afraid to threatened anyone or even kill if anyone were to either hurt you, take you, or grope you and the baby in any way) now you've got yourself a protective boyfriend and a protective dad
* There will be another post called "Life as a family" that will specify what type of dad that I believe (lover's name) like towards his child(ren)* PS. I will mention the gender of the child(ren)*
25 post event with (Atsushi x reader) and (Akutagawa x reader) 11/25.
There will be a second part of "Getting Pregnant" with different scenarios with the same characters

A/N: Of course you aren’t! This is such a cute request I couldn’t help but smile the whole time I wrote it! Kagami as a dad is justー :;(´﹏`∩);: Anyway, I tried to stay as gender neutral as possible for the child, so excuse the many repetitions! Please enjoy! ♥️

Tumblr media
ok so the moment you tell him the wonderful news, he’s a changed man
no more daily basketball practice until late hours, no more spontaneous street ball, his woman is alone at home with his soon-to-be child and that becomes his priority
he turns into a massive gentleman, always making sure to lend you a hand at basically everything you do
Don’t get up too quick!! Here, let me help you.
Wait! You don’t need to bend down, I’ll pick the knife up.
I ran a bath for you so whenever you’re ready tell me and I’ll help you get in.
at first it was quite the relief that he was willing to help you out so much, but at some point it became too much
“Kagami, we need to talk.”
your serious tone spooked him quite a bit, but after you had shared your point of view with him he actually became more embarrassed than anything else
“I-I didn’t notice it…I’m sorry” he said with such apologetic puppy eyes that you couldn’t help yourself but cuddle up to him and caress his head to reassure him that you didn’t mind it, as long as his help was kept in moderation
since then he has become more relaxed and even let you do some things by yourself (such as bathing, going up the stairs, etc.)
.
when the final few months started you began all the preparations, which included: freeing up space for your child’s room, going to countless doctors for the last checkups and prenatal diagnosis, mental preparations, parental counseling, etc.
when the ninth month finally arrived, you were admitted to the hospital and Kagami made sure to visit you daily, up until the fateful day the two of you had been looking forward to so much…
.
moments after you’d successfully brought your child to the world, the doctors allowed you to take a look at your baby before they brought it to the nurses
after the two of you had decided on a name, your man refused to leave your side and talked to you until exhaustion overcame you, and you fell asleep
.
..
Kagami would have slight problems in getting started, so during the first few years of your child’s life he was pretty clumsy and messed up quite a few times, some examples:
he wasn’t used to being gentle so when the time for your child’s bath came, he accidentally splashed the water too hard in the small one’s face and it ended up swallowing some of it, coughing a little in the process (luckily you came in not short after and showed him how to do it properly)
his talent in basketball might’ve been useful on a court, but when it comes to tossing your child in the air you had to stop him, because the first time he tried it, he tossed it so high that you feared he would have either dropped it or caused the small one to hit its head somewhere (neither happened, but your trust in him controlling his throwing abilities was definitely disturbed)
never did you expect that your man’s massive frame might pose a problem for your child…until he almost stepped on the small human (he actually stepped on one of the toys, but the scream of your kid startled you both so much and caused Kagami to jump up in fear to have hurt his child, ending with him falling face-first on the ground)
to summarize: he ended up feeling so bad for not being a proper father figure that he started buying those “How to be a father” guides and read them more seriously than any textbook back in school…and it unexpectedly worked
BUT you weren’t flawless either and sometimes the magnitude of the reality (aka. you being responsible for another human’s life) hit you harder than expected, but luckily you were never left alone with your fears/thoughts
your man would always sit down next to you, reassure you, embrace and kiss you while he whispered encouraging words next to your ear, up until he was certain that you believed in yourself as much as you’d believed in him back during the Winter Cup’s final match
.
as your child grew older, the two of you slowly began retreating from its life and leaving the kid so that it could find its own way/ambitions/etc.
but you never truly abandoned it, you’d always make sure that you show your support in no matter what subject of life and stand by your child’s side in every predicament
Kagami would show his offspring basketball and attempt to play together, but if it isn’t as interested in the sport as the father was, then your man wouldn’t pursue any further match/training
if your kid had problems with relationships/school/friends/etc., you’d always try your best to help out and stay as objective as possible, so that you don’t influence your child’s decisions/actions too much
all in all, you’d be great parents that would do anything for their child and in hard times you’d never truly break apart since you know that despite everything, you’d always have each other to lean on ♥️

Go Watch the Venture Brothers
So just heard the complete and utter Bullshit news that Adult Swim has cancelled one of (if not the best shows) they have the Venture Bros. This series is one of those shows that for WHATEVER reason never got to the level of fandom Rick and Morty has even though they’ve been at the genre parody game longer and in my opinion better.
The series is about Rusty Venture former boy adventurer and failing super scientist who in an attempt to keep his head above water in debt goes around with his two boys Hank and Dean, and bodyguard Brock on misadventues while various legal archnemisis go after him, such as the Monarch.
So if you never watched or never heard of this 7 season series let me give you a break down on why you should,
1) Art Style & Animation
Venture bros is one of those rare Adult aimed animated series that that really truly tries to utilize their medium to the best of their abilities. Season 1 had like such a small budget and corners had to be cut so it can be a little hard to watch at times.
Tumblr media
But with each passing season they get a little better, a little more fluid, go just a little harder and it truly feels rewarding to watch. Like seeing an artist you follow online improve over the years. Like they COULD have stayed with the choppy and stiff animation from season 1 it fit right in with its fellow adult animated shows but it didn’t. They strove for quality to have something that matched the story they were telling.
Tumblr media
2) The Writing
Venture Bros has some of the tightest and consistently great writing of ANY serialized show I’ve seen, adult, animated or other wise. Wanna know why? Cause it’s all done by TWO people (save for like one ep each season where one other person is allowed to touch their baby). Yeah TWO people and they work their asses off every season to interject, humor, refrences, parody, plot and character development in equal measure.
3) Character Development
Um yes in case you were wondering that’s right an adult animated show has CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT  that holds as the series goes on. Not to give spoilers but characters will go through changes in alignment, relationships will develop and change, some characters will go through negative arcs where they are straight up unbareable for a season before coming out the other side even better than they were before. There is no end of epsiode or even end of season reset. Characters, settings, and dynamics all change over the course of the show and it feels just so god damn good.
Tumblr media
4) Story Development
Just like the characters the story of the Venture Bros grows and changes each season. Things that are set up even as early as season one are paid off as the series goes on. Like not to be that bitch but you know how RIck and Morty teases an overarching plot ALL THE TIME but like will often just spit in the face of fans hoping for more than like one episode a season addressing it? Yeahhhhhhh that doesnt happen here, fans are consistently rewarded for putting the time in to rewatch and really think about what happened in the series. Characters that are seen in the background or are just referenced by other characters will be brought in to be recurring characters, things that start off as a small detail or gag will be given larger relevance and each time they do this you get that “OH I remember that from last season! So thats what it was!” The writers WANT you to rewatch, they WANT you to analyze and they WANT you to theorize, and they give you a show that gives back the time you put in.
Tumblr media
5) Parody & Reference
This series does a great thing with parody. They make real characters  who are just as enjoyable as the characters they parody, they make story lines that both poke fun at the absurdity of the media but shows the writers love for it. So often parody and references are just used to mock the thing but with Venture Bros you feel the love and care so when you know the thing being parodied you can laugh but feel good about laughing cause they are never laughing at a thing maybe you cared for in your youth but rather laughing with it.
And it’s never just one thing. When they parody a thing its often layered with other things to make it even more unique. Scooby-Doo is overlayed with famous criminals, Laura Croft is mixed Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, GI Joe is given the look of the Village People and so on. They never go for the easy joke or reference. Hell theres an episode that starts with them reciting the lyrics to David Bowies Space Oddity for really no reason other than they could. They weave these things in naturally with their setting and characters so nothing feels out of place. Like if you dont catch a reference or parody you dont feel like “I think this isa reference to something?” like a LOT of things do not just adult animated shows. You arent taken out of the moment cause it all feels so natural.
Tumblr media
6) The Characters
God damn these characters, I could go on for hours about these characters. From main to one off these are some of the most likeable characters you can find. I mean it when I say I can’t think of a single character I wish they had cut cause they are all so well created. Even the ones I hate i have fun hating cause they were made to be that way. I’ll be good though I’ll only talk about my absolute top faves.
- The Monarchs
Tumblr media
You ever sit and wish villain couples could have functional  healthy relationships? Well look no further than Malcom Fitzcarraldo aka The Monarch and Dr. Shelia Girlfriend (yes that is her last name). The Monarch is a high strung impulsive saturday morning cartoon villain whos tendency to over react is only matched by his unspecified hatred of Dr. Venture. And Dr. G is his nonsense partner in crime who will cut a bitch if they don’t play by their admittedly weird rules. Both characters are great on their own but are better together. Though that doesnt mean they always get along. Like a real couple they have their ups and downs they fight, break up, make-up and grow stronger in their relationship with each season.
- Shore Leave
Tumblr media
Ok ok so I want you to imagine James Bond, mixed with GI Joe simmering in a cocktail of the most flamboyant gay men you have ever seen and you have one of my favorite gay characters/characters in general. Shore Leave is a member of OSI (the shows SHEILD/GI Joe parody organization) he’s loud, brash, flippant, sassy and highly competent at his job loving every second of getting to beat bad guys down within an inch of their life. I love seeing him play off the stoic Brock and the two have this great brotherly dynamic that’s never called into question. He also gets to have a very cute romance with Al the Alchemist (who is also great). I could talk about this man all day.
- Dr. Rusty Venture
Tumblr media
They did such a good job with this man. He’s a self serving, sexist, perverted, whinny, self important asshole and yet you feel pity and genuine sympathy for him and want him to succeed. You can see how Dr. V was given a raw deal by his father who seemed to care more about his adventures than his sons well being and how this molded him into the bitter man he is today, but on the flip side you can see where he chose to use that as a crutch for his worst behaviors and impulses. Seeing him slowly grow and change and be an actual good father to his boys while all the while still be a giant dick is actually really great.
- Dr. Byron Orpheus
Tumblr media
Ahhhhh Dr. Orpheus part Dr. Strange Parody part busybody stay at home dad, he’s just such a delight. Dr. Orpheus is a divorcee, with an unfulfilling job of maintaining order to the cosmos (which isnt as hard as one might think), and uses his magical ablities in ways most of us would (ie menial tasks and home chores). Overly dramatic and affectionate Dr. O is a delight whenever he appears, but he’s at his best around his daughter and old friends The Order of the Triad.
Again I can go on but all these characters ranging from main to recurring are crafted with the utmost care for you to want to see them succeed or fail, to see them again even if you know it’ll never happen, and want them to cross paths with other characters.
Tumblr media
The Venture Bros is one of those series that I will ALWAYS recommend even to the pickiest of humor tastes. But if you don’t believe its as good as I said or don’t think the concept is to your tastes I’ll recommend a few eps that I think best show off the base idea of the series without giving much away. In terms of plot and spoilers, though somethings wont make a lot of sense.
- S1 ep10 "Tag Sale – You're It!" - Dr. V is having a yard sale so of course all manner of costumed weirdos show up.  - S2 ep5 "Twenty Years to Midnight" - basically a fetch quest around the world to save the planet with daddy issues - S3 ep2 "The Doctor Is Sin" - Again daddy issues but with one of the best recurring characters and a great showcase of the series deeper emotional plots - S4 ep6 "Self-Medication" - Really embraces the parody as Rusty goes to a former boy adventurer support group.  Anyway the show is 7 seasons with 80 episodes, please go watch it. I will never forgive @adultswim for cancelling what was to be their final season. And in closing GO TEAM VENTURE!

Top 10 favorites:
The Walk of Shame is right up my alley
Tumblr media
General Grievious, to which my friends are freaked out by his cute little spider crawling.
To those that know, I’m glad I stopped talking about this man months ago so y'all could shut it about his grussy, istg.
He’s 7'1 and yes, I call him nakey whenever he takes of his cloak. Don’t @ me about it.
Obigrievous because Enemies to Lovers
Yes, he’s a damn coward a lot of the times but I love how amazing he is. Duel wielding and keeping trophies from the many Jedi he has killed,, and his asthmatic voice that’s one cough away from combusting, I love.
And his backstory, that’s fucked up.
Rip Gor, you shall be missed. Those Jedi should have never fucked you up.
Tumblr media
Thel Vadam, The Arbiter, aka core childhood memories of playing Halo with my brothers.
His voice acting is amazing af, but it took me so long to realize he has the same va as the cat from Coraline. Like, you fucking go, Keith David.
Thel is also not immune to my friends’ jokes because that one time he was stripped to get branded the “Mark of Shame” and a couple comments on his grussy was made.
Also that other time where Master Chief and him were ensnared by the Gravemind,, yeah that was something.
7′9 ft, and I’m the embodiment of that one drunk dude meme where he stumbles out of his trailer, drink in hand.
Tumblr media
Do I even need to explain myself here with Doctor Octavius? I swear to god, if I see one more edit talking about the shit relationship I have with my dad that caused me to love Doc Ock, I’m going to fuck that editor up-
Anyways, what’s there to iterate about him? He just radiates dilf energy, mad scientist vibes, and is 6'2. Alfred Molina is a godsend, enough said.
Definitely was the only villain in New York confident enough to have his tiddies out on display-
I’m sorry but the scenes where he smoked a cigar or took off his glasses with the assistance of the tentacles really did something,,
And don’t get me started on some of his cartoon variations from Spectacular Spider-Man and Spiderverse.
The amount of propaganda I’ve spread to my close circles of friends that they too, are starting to agree that he’s hot. I don’t even know how
One last note but screw that one Discord friend that asked why the fuck would I love “a fat man with glasses that would definitely kill me” because that dude is one step away from getting knocked the fuck out.
Tumblr media
Din Djarin = Dilf
Like I love this man and his sad puppy dog eyes. Pedro Pascal, you play this lone space ranger well.
I don’t know how to explain but The Mandalorian are just,,
Also definitely the moment where “hm, strange how I also love Boba Fett and all the other 501st Clone troopers… IS IT SERIOUSLY THE FUCKING ARMOR-”
Tumblr media
Heisenberg is just another dilf, mad scientist vibes and it blew my mind when people say him and Doc Ock are the same person, different font.
I went to my first college Halloween party in my bootleg Wrench cosplay. Dude, the host’s boyfriend was cosplaying him and I managed to get a pic of us together. It was so fucking rad, serotonin booster for sure.
This man has this big showmen announcer voice, sometimes he has a purr. It just sounds so fruity.
I love him so much and don’t get me started on the “I said sit” scene. Ethan should have helped this hefty man out.
What? I definitely did not see those YouTube videos where people added shirtless mods to Resident Evil 8. What are you talking about-
Tumblr media
Wrench from Watch Dogs 2. This man had me thinking “wow, do I actually have a thing for characters that wear masks?”
He’s a chaotic bisexual and his bromance with Marcus just means so much to me. Like you can not tell me that this man wasn’t harboring a small crush, because you’d be capping.
I do have some cosplay pics where I took inspiration from Wrench’s design on Instagram and nearly died when Shawn Baichoo liked and commented on the post.
Also Wrench’s reasoning behind having the mask makes me want to hug him.
That one mission where Marcus was adament about getting his mask back from the feds, meeting up with him, saying how he won’t allow this shit to tear them apart,, AUGH! I LOVE!
Tumblr media
I feel like it’s super apparent that my type can range from nonhuman, masks, dilf, or himbo. Regardless, I’m slapping FL4K on this list.
Nonbinary icon to the max, respect the they/them pronouns or you’re gonna be their Skag’s next meal.
I guess I always loved those types of characters that are kinda dramatic while spouting some nonsense about death and destruction. Their va sounds so cool.
I kinda got attached when my brothers and I were playing Borderlands 3 for the first time, and they were my pick.
Tumblr media
Avengers Assemble Hawkeye, totally a bi-icon, I don’t make up the rules. This also goes for his EMH ’s variation, MCU can kindly back off.
He’s just such a cool, somehow competent dumbass. Plus he’s in my favorite color too!
While many of my comfort characters go through the bi-fication beam, Hawkeye doesn’t need to, especially in that episode that first introduces Hyperion.
Homie was so dang confused on why this new superhero kept winking at him, and was the first to want him on the team. At the end of the episode, he was then comforted by Black Widow who said that Hyperion tricked them all because “power can be seductive”
LIKE EXCUSE ME!?
Tumblr media
Alright, hear me on this but: bisexual, dilf, dumpster fire of a man. It’s like a triple threat wambo combo.
I love how disorderly this man looks.
He’s just so fine, and I can’t wait to see the new Spiderverse because that damn trailer got me all hyped up.
Tumblr media
Technically a two-in-one but we’re going to decide in ignoring that. Paul Monroe A.K.A Jesus and Javier Garcia, I love them so much.
Jesus, both from the show and video game are such fucking badasses and it’s really refreshing to see that with that pos gay representation.
You go, modern day ninja! Do that flying kick at a walker’s head in your beanie trenchcoat attire!
As for Javier, he’s my beloved man who I figured out months ago is my hispanic bi rep that I needed so much of.
I’m sure a lot of people can relate that when you’re LGBT+ in a conservative minority culture, it can be scary and you wonder if people can thrive being who they are out in the world.

The Joker Tropes Part 2
Taken From Here and here
Nether Realm Studios especially seems to love making Joker out to be evil incarnate. In Injustice: Gods Among Us and its sequel, he loses all his cred (and life) once he nukes Metropolis; Harley ditches him entirely, Batman just completely gives up on indulging him any more, even Guest Fighters like Hellboy consider him worthless, and non-Batvillains such as Grodd and Brainiac and even Darkseid loathe him for either Metropolis, or just in general principle. Mortal Kombat 11 shows that even the MK cast see him as a scourge upon the realms, and also express distaste toward him for either his nuking, a previous outing, or because he's seen as a buffoon who cannot be taken seriously (this is usually the case for other villain characters).
About the only person who can tolerate him for long is Lex Luthor, only because they both have the same level of hatred for their respective enemies. Even then, Luthor prefers to keep his distance from the Joker, if only because a bored Joker screws with everything For the Evulz.
In the animated series, he claims to have been beaten as a child when interviewed by Harley Quinn. It is unknown if this is true. According to Batman, he's simply making it up.
In one issue of New 52, he claims to have been driven insane by an abusive grandmother, who also bleached his skin to its present pallor.
In the same continuity, he is one to a baby gorilla he adopts, trains up as a gun-wielding henchman, and ultimately gets killed off for laughs.
In the comic book adaptation of Injustice, it's implied Harley fears Joker would be one, and gives their daughter to her sister, lest he kill the child. It's left ambiguous whether the Joker's even aware of the ruse.
Averted in one story, wherein one of Arkham's doctors realizes Joker's faking insanity just to piss off Batman as revenge for his disfigurement. Another doctor finds the report and excitedly reveals it to the current head doctor, only to learn that  the Joker left it for everyone to read, since the paper's written by Harley Quinn, and therefore worthless as evidence.
In Batman: The Man Who Laughs, it's established that the name "The Joker" was given to him by the media, and he liked it so much that he decided to call himself that.
The same happens in Joker (2019), where Murray tells the audience to "look at this joker" when talking about Arthur. Arthur took it to heart.
Batman: Arkham Knight takes this even further by revealing that being forgotten is the only thing the Joker truly fears.
Just to demonstrate how much disregard he has for his henchmen, a reoccurring motivation for offing his own lackeys is failing to laugh at one of his jokes. Or laughing too late. Or laughing for too long. Or laughing at the wrong joke. He's... unpredictable.
The Joker loves it when people laugh with him, whether genuine or not, but if someone laughs at him, they're most likely already dead.
Joker loves attention and being above the normals, so never imply that he's not interesting or unique. Terry exploits this flaw in Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker just to drive him to a Villainous Breakdown.
The Batman Who Laughs. Since the character's first appearance in Dark Nights: Metal, the mere mention of him is enough to put The Joker in an uncharacteristically un-jolly mood and is a good way to get on his bad side. In fact, the dislike of this twisted version of his archnemesis is so great, that when Lex Luthor and The Legion of Doom started cooperating with him against Joker's protests, he quit the legion (after non-lethally jokerizing every other member of it) in disgust.
If you're going to hurt Batman, do it right. One of the supplementary stories for Joker War had him beyond furious with Bane - to the point of promising him he'd kill him in a way he would never see coming - for showing so little imagination in killing Alfred in City of Bane without even letting Batman listen to it to torture him. By his reckoning, if you have a great gag to break the Bat, use it to break the Bat - don't blow it by having Robin be the only one to witness it.
Originally Conrad Veidt from The Man Who Laughs.
Later portrayals base themselves on his actors, with Cesar Romero a popular candidate, and after Jack Nicholson came in, artists such as Alex Ross base him on him, such as the actor's distinct widow's peak and slicked back hair.
During Knightfall he and Scarecrow killed several members of a SWAT team, and one of his last actions in Batman: No Man's Land was to kill Commissioner Gordon's second wife, Lt. Sarah Essen.
One of the alternate realities seen in Zero Hour! was one where he killed Commissioner Gordon instead of crippling Barbara.
Part of the reason Gordon takes over the post of Commissioner in both The Dark Knight Trilogy and Batman: Arkham Series is due to the Joker killing Gillian Loeb. Additionally, the first game in the latter series, Asylum, he sees several of Arkham's guards killed by him and his men.
He's holding a dead cop's corpse in his intro in Injustice: Gods Among Us and using it as a puppet. He also talks to the body of one of the Regime enforcers who captured him once he breaks out and heads to Gotham.
Whether he was driven insane or was already insane and became completely bonkers.
Where he is on the spectrum between "wacky prankster" and "utterly depraved and sadistic sociopath and murderer".
Whether he is a senseless, performative terrorist wreaking havoc for kicks or a deceptively cunning and competent criminal mastermind. Or both. Usually both.
He's no Batman, but sometimes he is a proficient hand-to-hand combatant, Knife Nut or marksman, and other times a flimsy wimp who goes down in one punch. In some of the grittier settings, his raw strength, numbness to pain and viciousness are enough to level the playing field with Batman.
Whether he actually loves Harley Quinn varies. In the animated series, (where Harley first appeared) the writers haveoutright said he's a sociopath incapable of loving anyone, and just sees her as a useful mook. Some other works imply he really does love her on some level (although he's usually still an abusive asshole.)
He can either be Faux Affably Evil, Laughably Evil, just a Monster Clown, or some combination of the three.
At least one such incident implied he would be interested in Batman... but only after he was dead. Again this may only have been a tactic to get under Batman's skin or truthful admission. The readers will never know for certain.
His plot in The Killing Joke is to put Jim Gordon through the wringer hard in the hopes of driving him mad. He'll also try to drive Batman over the edge (particularly, drive him to break his "no killing" rule), sometimes by cutting off all of Batsy's human connections.
The Dark Knight reworks it into Driving Gotham To Senseless Violence with wanton acts of destruction or terrorism, just to prove everyone's as bad as him deep down.
Ironically, a 1952 story has the Joker get himself falsely committed to an insane asylum, to question a patient who knew the location of a cache of money. The end of the story has him Laughing Mad due to a prank Batman used to disguise his identity.
He didn't have his signature laugh. This seems to have been a way to "goofy up" the character to make him less terrifying in the days of the Comics Code Authority. Later on, he'd learn to giggle while remaining terrifying.
He actually committed crimes for moneynote , and wasn't really interested in causing chaos or terror for a joke's sake.
Building off of that, his plans weren't really "insane" until the Silver Age (at which point it's not even fair to say this was exclusive to him), nor was there any question of the character's mental stability.
His obsession with Batman wasn't there, much less the idea that he would pass up chances to kill the Bat or learn his identity. This aspect was probably introduced to explain the Bond Villain Stupidity he (and every Batman villain) had become infamous for in the Silver Age.
His clown-like complexion was actually makeup in his early appearances. He even removed his makeup to disguise himself as a cop, which was referenced in The Dark Knight. It's later revealed that the look is permanent after falling in a vat of chemicals.
The Brave and the Bold #111 and #191 have him team up with Batman to clear his name after being framed for several murders. The first instance turned out to simply be a framing the guilty part occasion but the second instance was actually genuine on Joker's part (except the person Joker seemingly murdered turned out to be faking their death).
He also does this with Batman whenever The Batman Who Laughs is involved (specifically in the Dark Knights: Metal series).
He abruptly ends a partnership with Red Skull when his Nazi affiliation comes out. Red Skull simply wonders why he is so surprised when he thinks that the Joker would make a great Nazi. The Joker is NOT happy about this, proclaiming "I may be a criminal lunatic, but I'm an American criminal lunatic!" It even provides the trope's image. And yes, folks, even an equal-opportunity murderer like the Joker despises the Nazis!note
The exception is mentioned again in the Last Laugh arc where the Joker immediately refused to join the American Neo-Nazi Aryan Alliance group in the Slab after he was offered membership. Joker: I'm evil and all that, but you guys are just plain mean.
Will not harm dumb animals and doesn't condone it. There's no humor to be had in that. Higher primates apparently do not qualify but a lot more effort went into that one.
While in Arkham with villain Warren White, AKA the Great White Shark, Joker calls him the worst person he ever met. He states that while he may kill people, even he doesn't steal their kids' college funds.
Sees nothing funny about someone parking in a handicap spot when they're not handicapped. However, he does think it's hilarious to hurt them in ways that will make certain they'll always be able to park there.
A girl named Janey Bennett, whose class was studying criminal behavior, became pen pals with the Joker while he was in Arkham. When Janey revealed that her father, the mayor of Motor City, was abusing her (exactly how isn't specified, though it was implied to have been really bad) the Joker broke out and, convinced that the authorities would be of no help, tried to force the mayor into admitting to his crimes and giving him Janey (so that he could find a better home for her) by threatening to contaminate the city's blood supply, going through with it (because the ends justify the means) when the mayor refused to give in to his demands. He originally intended to give her to Batman as well so he could protect her but at the end decided to give her to her mom. Joker: I mean, stealing a city blind is something I can admire... but being mean to one's own daughter... that just makes my blood boil.
For a rather literal form of "standard", the Joker's team-up with Carnage in Spider-Man and Batman: Disordered Minds fell apart in part because the Joker, known for his love of theatrics, found Kasady's desire to get straight to killing boring. Conversely, Kasady didn't like the Joker's flair for theatrics.
The Joker absolutely loathes The Batman Who Laughs, to the point where he drops his usual joking demeanor and is deathly serious whenever directly referring to him, even willing to work together with Batman to face him when it comes down to it. When Lex Luthor goes behind his back to make a deal with The Batman Who Laughs (going against the only condition Joker has for joining his plan), Joker responds by Joker-gassing the Legion of Doom, putting Lex into a series of deathtraps, trashing Lex's Power Armor, and quitting the Legion. In the process, he tells Luthor how he had planned on ruining the Legion utterly on the verge of victory, and as nightmarish as his plan sounded, he claims it is nothing compared to what the Batman Who Laughs is going to do.
While he still gloated about it and found Commissioner Gordon kneecapping him funny after remember that he'd crippled Barbara, the actual act of killing Sarah Essen in the penultimate issue of Batman: No Man's Land is one of the few times the Joker wasn't happy with something he himself did, considering he's seen walking away while scowling afterward, leaves the babies he originally planned to murder unharmed and immediately turns himself in to the police.
Emperor Joker sees the Joker disgusted with a corrupted Jimmy O Lsen tormenting the Superfamily and Batman when they're turned int animals.
Later one he is disgusted when his minions vandalize the Moai on Eastern Island.
Again, when he rescues Lex from The Batman Who Laugh's infected minions in Hell Arisen, the mere mention of his alternate universe rival prompts him to have a very uncharacteristic Freak Out. The Joker: I told you. I told you not to deal with him. You should have shot that thing in the head the second you had it in a cage! It is wrong. It is a wrong thing.
Played more straight in his relationship with Punchline. Only time will tell if it lasts.
There’s also a comic storyline when Hush informed that a dirty cop Office Halmet killed his wife Jeannie. The Joker wanted nothing more than to kill said cop in revenge. Then there’s Batman: Three Jokers where, despite it being being heavily implied he was abusive, the “Comedian” Joker is seen setting up fake tea parties with dolls, clearly trying to substitute them for his wife and child showing that he does miss them and desire to be a family with them.
While The Dark Knight is one of the few times the Joker's clown-like appearance is the result of make-up, he does sport a Glasgow Grin.
While Joker still has the permanent clown look, it's combined with the Glasgow Grin.
While Batman: Endgame would see the skin of his face restored with a chemical called Dionesiumnote , at the start of The New 52, the Joker had the Dollmaker skin his face and then, after he recovered it, spent Death of the Family wearing it like a Leatherface-esque mask. And even in Endgame, his restored face ends up badly burned as the result of the finale battle between him and Batman, though it still ends up restored again.
Gotham sees neither Valeska escape this. After his death in season 2, Jerome (the proto-Joker) ends up resurrected in season 3, but because Dwight thinks his attempt to revive him failed, Dwight ends up cutting off Jerome's face ala Death of the Family and Jerome ends up stapling it on when he catches up with Dwight and while he later has it properly reattached, there's still scars from what happened. Jeremiah, Jerome's twin and the show's true Joker, ends up with the "perma-clown" appearance due to Jerome having the Scarecrow brew something up to spray in Jeremiah's face, but season 5 sees his fateful fall at Ace Chemicals badly scar his face and sear off most of his hair with only stringy patches left.
Averted entirely in Joker (2019), where his clown appearance is entirely makeup, and the worst it gets is painting his iconic smile on his face with his own blood from a car crash. Not even a Glasgow Grin or anything, the blood is from his hand and his face only has a few normal cuts on it.
While Batman is a rather serious character who refuses to kill anyone, The Joker is a rather comical character who revels in death.
Joker's gadgets tend to be rather goofier but much more lethal, such as the Joker Venom that he often uses to kill his victims.
While Batman gets along well with his sidekicks Robin and Batgirl, Joker frequently abuses his sidekick Harley Quinn and has tried to kill her before, not to mention all the times he has been a Bad Boss by killing his henchmen for any reason you can think of, sometimes for no reason at all.
While Batman's backstory is well known, even by the citizens of Gotham who know of the tragedy of the rich Waynes' in Crime Alley, no one knows anything about the Joker's backstory, but most versions he tells are consistent in two things: he was a nobody, and possibly someone poor.
In most adaptations, his voice is high-pitched in contrast to Batman's Badass Baritone.
Why he went by the name the Red Hood has changed over the years: The Killing Joke claims he was a failed comedian driven to crime to support his pregnant wife. The trauma of his disfigurement from jumping in the acid and his wife's earlier accidental death drove him insane. However, even this backstory is questionable, as the Joker himself calls it "multiple choice".
In Injustice 2, an intro with Atrocitus has the Red Lantern wondering what drove the Joker to nihilism.
In the animated series, he claims to have been abused as a child when interviewed by Harley, but according to Batman, it's just another ruse to escape Arkham.
The purple suit and matching pants with either an orange and/or green shirt with a bowtie or tie, remains the definitive Joker look one that many artists and costume designers have given spin on. He is sometimes known for wearing a cool hat but other times goes hatless. Heath Ledger's custom-designed purple long-coat, trousers, blue shirt and green Waistcoat of Style with a tie has likewise become iconic and famous for its contemporary and downright stylish update on the classic look.
The original Red Hood outfit which is a black suit, white shirt, bowtie with an opera cap and a bizarre red dome is also quite famous.
The Hawaiian tourist outfit he wore in the notorious scene in The Killing Joke.
The white suit he wears in Miller's The Dark Knight Returns as well as the white nurse maid outfit with red wig in The Dark Knight is also quite notable.
The Future Joker look from Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker which went with a mime look (black body suit, slicked-back hair) is also quite distinct and unique.
The first issue of Batman with Joker's debut has him described as having "burning, hate-filled eyes" and the moniker, "the harliquin of hate".
The Man Who Laughs had Bruce dosed with a light version of the Joker Venom and he felt his perspective shift into a paranoid vengeance were he felt everyone deserved to be punished for his parent's death just for existing.
Death of the Family had Batman describe how Joker's irises are always narrow when looking at anyone but Batman and that it is usually an indication of negative feelings toward something with Bruce mentioning that his eye are the eyes of someone who hates everything he sees.
In the Justice League storyline "Rock of Ages", Martian Manhunter has to put in incredible effort to reorganize Joker's mind long enough for him to give up the cataclysmic Philosopher's Stone. The briefly sane Joker immediately says My God, What Have I Done? verbatim as he hands it back, before quickly losing his mind and going back to the laughing madman.
The famous example from the end of The Killing Joke, where Batman tries to convince him to allow Batman to rehabilitate him before their vendetta kills them. Joker considers it for a long, somber moment before quietly reflecting that they're both too far gone.
Batman: Cacophony ends with Joker being pumped full of an inhuman amount of antipsychotic drugs to keep him under control while in recovery from a near-fatal stabbing. Batman takes the opportunity to have a relatively-sane conversation with him, though it's somewhat subverted by Joker still being a homicidal sociopath even while heavily sedated.
He even gives multiple reasons on how he came Back from the Dead in Injustice 2 and will go along with whatever his opponent thinks is true, despite being Dead All Along in story mode and only appearing as a hallucination to his ex-moll.
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns sees him kill David Endochrine and Ruth Weisenheimer, who were clearly based on David Letterman and Dr. Ruth Westheimer.
During Knightfall, once he realizes that Azrael isn't Batman, his plan's gone to hell, and one too many criticisms from Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert stand-ins, he kills the stand-ins.
In one of the issues for the The Batman tie-in comic, The Batman Strikes, he terrorizes a stand-in for Conan O'Brien. This becomes darkly Hilarious in Hindsight as the real O'Brien voiced Endochrine in the animated version of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. In the series proper, Harley's debut had the two of them terrorize a stand-in for Dr. Phil for the climax.
If you want to know how truly terrifying The Batman Who Laughs is, look no further than the way Joker acts whenever discussing him. He doesn't laugh, he doesn't smile. He becomes calm and serious and simply tells whomever he's talking to that the TBWL is "a wrong thing that shouldn't exist". Someone HAS to be scary if the very thought of him makes Joker act like a calm rational sane person.
In Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, the clown has a massive Villainous Breakdown when Terry mocks him for his failed attempts to break Batman.
On the rare occasion Joker gets bored and leaves Gotham, expect everyone to think of him as just a silly clown, until the bodies start piling up.
One issue of the Robin Series had him talking about having Abusive Parents, only for a psychiatrist to tell him it's the seventh story he's told now.
Batman lampshades on this to Harley in the animated series, thinking it's another lie to gain sympathy.
The Killing Joke claims he was a failed comedian driven to crime to support his pregnant wife. The trauma of his disfigurement and his wife's earlier accidental death drove him mad. However, even this could be a lie, as he himself calls it "multiple choice".
It's even discussed in Injustice 2, as Atrocitus wonders what drove the Joker to nihilism. Despite only appearing as a hallucination to Harley in story mode, he spews out multiple theories for his Unexplained Recovery and will say Sure, Let's Go with That in non-canon fights. Was he resurrected by someone, or is he from another universe? Did he escape from either the Source Wall or the Phantom Zone, or is he just an apparition?
Shadow of the Bat #38, Tears of a Clown: He celebrates his anniversary of the day he was a still sane, but hapless comedian, and was thrown out of an exclusive Stand-Up Comedy club for an unfunny act the patrons mercilessly heckled. It was the last straw as he agreed to provide to his family by pulling a job for the Red Hood gang. So he kidnaps all the patrons and reenacts his act with control collars that will kill them when they laugh. Oddly enough, the patrons are hardcore Stand-Up Comedy fans, so they can't remember the number of times they've booed someone. However, even this origin story could be a lie.
It's come to be his primary disfigurement over the original skin bleaching.
In Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, Terry McGinnis exploits this by delivering an epic Boring Insult so the clown will have a Villainous Breakdown.
King Barlowe proved to be a big one in his Thanatos Gambit in the episode "Joker's Millions" of The New Batman Adventures. In a spiteful Video Will, he gives the clown his millions, revealing in his tape that most of it was fake. Expecting the clown to splurge on it, he won't have enough to pay off the IRS, allowing Barlowe to get the "last laugh" after his death, without the Joker coming after him.
Alan Moore's "I go Loony" from The Killing Joke, an in-panel song-and-dance tune that was eventually made into an actual song belted out in Batman: The Killing Joke.
Batman: The Brave and the Bold has "Where's the Fun in That?" from the episode "Emperor Joker".
Batman: Arkham City ended with him covering The Platters' "Only You (and You Alone)", Batman: Arkham Origins had him cover Hank Williams' "Cold, Cold, Heart" and Batman: Arkham Knight had him provide an original composition, "Can't Stop Laughing".
Action Fashionista: This incarnation of the Joker has a wide variety of garish outfits for every occassion — most of them straight from the comics.
Adaptational Attractiveness: Metal teeth, lack of eyebrows, and tattoos aside, he's still being played by the youthful-looking real life Pretty Boy Jared Leto; especially since the last two cinematic Jokers were a creepy middle-aged gangster with a botched face-lift and a filthy, scarred vagrant (even the mentally unwell clown-for-hire doesn't scream Mr. Fanservice one bit). This version looks more like Marilyn Manson.
Adaptational Nice Guy: A very downplayed example. While he's otherwise the same Clown Prince of Crime we all know and love to hate, he appears to genuinely care for Harley, and even throws her out of a falling helicopter to save her life. Almost any other iteration of the Joker would do that to save his own skin or rid himself of her.
Adaptational Skimpiness: This version of the Joker tends to be shirtless a lot more than he has in any other medium. It mostly seems like an opportunity to show off his tattoos.
Adaptation Distillation: Leto's Joker seems to be less of the "evil philosopher" that Heath Ledger portrayed him as in The Dark Knight, and instead seems to be a cross between the garish, larger-than-life Mark Hamill version from the animated series and the Arkham games, and the creepy, deeply twisted Brian Azzarello version. David Ayer had also stated that he looked specifically to the Golden Age Joker for reference, providing reason for many to believe that Leto's Joker is a modern re-imagining of that incarnation.
Advertised Extra: Heavily featured in Suicide Squad promotional materials, barely appears in the film for more than seven minutes. According to Jared Leto, several of the scenes he shot were not included in the theatrical cut.
Ambiguous Disorder: In Suicide Squad, most of the time the Joker seems... not all there compared to Harley. In addition of psychopathic tendencies, the Joker has random bouts of maniacal laughter, confusion, and slurred speech-like patterns. All attributes that stem from punch-drunk syndrome. Considering he has faced Batman one too many times, it makes sense that the Joker's mental stability is finally catching up to him.
However, come Birds of Prey, they broke up, mirroring the comics where they do have an Relationship Revolving Door. It appears to stick, as Harley publicly calls it quits between the two of them.
His tattoos are very reminiscent of the Joker in All Star Batman and Robin.
Ax-Crazy: Like all the incarnations before him, calling him a violent psychopath is one of the biggest understatements you can make.
Bedlam House: Spent some time at Arkham Asylum, where he met Harley. Then he broke free from it with the help of both Harley and his gang.
Chewing the Scenery: An important part of the character is his theatricality.
Cool Car: A bright purple sports car with underglow lights and a "HAHAHA" license plate.
Dented Iron: It's subtle, but the numerous scars on his body and metal replacement teeth in his mouth are clear signs that his frequent run-ins with Batman are taking their toll.
Disney Death: He seemingly dies in the crash of his helicopter... only to come back to free Harley from her high security prison at the end of Suicide Squad.
The Dreaded: In true Joker fashion, everyone is terrified of him.
Establishing Character Moment: One that takes place before he even makes his official debut in the setting - he killed Robin (a minor) and vandalized his outfit to mock Batman over his inability to save him.
Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Insofar as much as the Joker can love anyone, anyway, but he does seem to genuinely care about Harley. Eventually, subverted.
Evil Has a Bad Sense of Humor: He considers the brutal murder of a minor as a joke he played on Batman. When he's torturing Harleen Quinzel, he promises not to shatter her well-kept teeth while flashing his own hideous metal dentures. When Harleen later has him at gunpoint, Joker just says "please don't kill me, I'll be ya friend" in a snarky tone.
Evil Is Hammy: It's not The Joker if he's not Chewing the Scenery. And, sure enough, he does.
Evil Is Petty: The graffiti on Robin's costume seems to imply that Joker murdered him just to prod at Batman. It is confirmed in Suicide Squad that Joker and Harley killed him.
Evil Laugh: It's kind of his thing. One notable example is when he chuckles while surrounded by an arsenal of weapons.
Fake Shemp: Indie rocker Johnny Goth stood in for Jared Leto in Birds of Prey, in the flashback where he and Harley torture and tattoo the big mafia thug Harley later bumps back into.
Foil: To Batman as usual, but with some new additions. After 20 years, Batman became more jaded and cruel, while the Joker somewhat mellowed out and his criminal activity became more professional. Batman didn't settle down until the death of Superman while the Joker grew attached to Harley Quinn.
In Suicide Squad Griggs' smug indifference about his gambling debt immediately becomes pure terror when he realizes the Joker has gotten involved.
He is so feared that even the likes of Black Mask would rather steer clear of him. Harley's enemies only start gunning for her in Birds of Prey when it's become clear that she's no longer with him.
   G-Y
The Ghost:
There is an allusion to him in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ("HA HA HA Joke's On You, Batman" painted across the chest of the dead Robin's empty suit in the Batcave), but he doesn't actually appear.
He gets mentioned a lot in Birds of Prey, but he's only seen very briefly in some flashbacks, always from the back (including footage from Suicide Squad). There is a whole Deleted Scene where he and Harley have a domestic dispute. Harley leaves the house through the window and the Joker throws her stuffed beaver out through the window. In the film proper, she's just kicked out of the house, with no shot of Mr. J.
Greater-Scope Villain: His role in Batman v Superman. Despite not actually appearing his murder of Robin by this point has driven Batman down a darker, more vengeful path that goes against Batman's traditional moral code; the one that the Joker is always trying to prove is wrong. Batman's rage towards Superman blinds him to the possibility of Lex Luthor being the real threat long enough for Superman to die fighting Doomsday. In a way the Joker's actions contributed to Batman's failure.
Guttural Growler: This Joker is noticeably more snarly than previous incarnations.
Handshake Refusal: He doesn't like to shake hands, as Monster T finds out.
Hell-Bent for Leather: Wears a purple crocodile skin duster at some point in the film.
Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Despite being a homicidal sociopath, he seems to truly love his girlfriend Harley Quinn. Then in Birds Of Prey, he coldly and violently breaks up with her.
Joker Immunity: He appears to die when his helicopter is shot down about halfway through Suicide Squad. To absolutely no one's surprise, he shows up alive and well in the final scene. It helps that he's the Trope Namer.
Knife Nut: And by God, does he have enough blades.◊
Lean and Mean: This Joker, while muscular, is quite lean, especially compared to the heavily muscled Batman.
Love Epiphany: Well, "love" is pushing it, but Joker realizes his affections for Harley when she dives in the chemical bath that ultimately turned Joker into what he is. Symbolic in the sense she was agreeing to join him in madness. Further adding to the complexity of the scene; Joker was tying up a loose end, having used Harley to escape from Arkham. He lead her to her demise and intended to leave her for death but at the same moment realized she had entered his world and his madness. Joker never anticipated the amount of utter devotion Harley would have for him, something inside him just couldn't walk away from her, so he jumped in to save her.
Manipulative Bastard: He manipulated Harley into helping him escape Arkham because she fell in love with him. When she served her purpose, he would have had her kill herself jumping into a bath of chemicals to prove her feelings. He instead saves her from this demise because he has a Love Epiphany in the moment.
Monster Clown: Like the previous film versions, Joker is an Ax-Crazy criminal with clownish makeup. Green hair notwithsanding, his white makeup, red lipstick and absence of facial scars make him look closer to a mime than his predecessors.
Noble Demon: In Suicide Squad, his whole motivation is to rescue Harley Quinn. His commitment is so strong he doesn't even waste time with pranks or petty acts of cruelty. Everything he does is for someone else.
Only Known By His Nickname: He's only known as The Joker, or "J" / "Mr. J".
Outlaw Couple: He and Harley Quinn are lovers and partners in crime.
Sadist: Even though there was only a few select scenes of him, one of them is him torturing Harley. It's disturbingly obvious that he is positively gleeful over it. And he doesn't seem to have lost any sleep over murdering Robin, either.
Pet the Dog: David Ayer confirms that while he did push Harley out of the falling helicopter, his intent was in fact to save her life.
Satellite Love Interest: To Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad. His characterization revolves entirely around Harley, not even getting involved with the main plot.
Scary Teeth: Several of his teeth are made of metal. According to David Ayer, Batman punched his teeth out after he killed Robin, leading him to replace them with metal teeth.
Screw This, I'm Outta Here!: Although he has a presence at the start of the film, The Joker appears to have left Gotham City to be controlled by Black Mask in Birds of Prey, with Roman saying that Joker has already skipped town.
The Sociopath: He's chaotic and remorseless, much like his previous versions. Special mention goes to his murder of Robin, which he topped off by spray-painting a cruel taunt for Batman onto the boy's costume.
Tattooed Crook: His torso is covered in jester-themed tattoos. He also has a few on his arms and face.
Villain of Another Story: He mainly appeared in Suicide Squad, but his biggest act of villainy to date — killing Robin — happened some years before Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, in which he doesn't appear. The spray-painted message on Robin's empty suit ("Ah ah ah joke's on you Batman!") in the latter film can't be anything else than his doing.
Where Does He Get All Those Wonderful Toys?: Is seen with a rather impressive arsenal of guns and knives. And even says to warden Griggs, at some point, "I can't wait to show you my toys." note Notably, he manages to hijack the gunship which was sent to extract Waller and the squad so he can rescue Harley.
Would Hit a Girl: In the past, the Joker electroshocks and manipulates Dr. Harleen Quinzel into allowing her to fall into a vat of chemicals, in order to become Harley Quinn.
Would Hurt a Child: He killed Batman's sidekick, Robin, while the boy was an underage minor.
You Gotta Have Blue Hair: His hair is bright green.
   "Knightmare" Joker
"You won't kill me. I'm your best friend..." Appearances:
Zack Snyder's Justice League
"You need me. You... need me... to help you undo this world you created, by letting her die."
The Joker meets up once more with Batman in the nightmarish alternate future where Darkseid has conquered the Earth and Superman turned evil. But things aren't the same anymore between the two legendary foes.
See also the Knightmare page for more on that setting's characters.
Break Them by Talking: He deliberately tries to agitate Batman by reminding him of how many people have died on his watch.
Cop Killer: He wears a bulletproof vest with at least two dozens police badges on it. Whether these were good cops killed prior to the apocalypse or servants of the oppressive regime of Superman after the apocalypse is not detailed.
Costume Evolution: He has ditched his garish gangster suits for what looks like either a medical gown or a butcher gown, complete with orange gloves and a bulletproof vest with a dozen police badges pinned on it. He got rid of his "Damaged" forehead tattoo, let his hair grow and put red makeup around his mouth, looking closer to more common depictions of the character.
Enemy Mine: He and Batman had the worst kind of enmity imaginable, but the Earth being conquered by Darkseid is enough of a Conflict Killer for them to call a truce and work together to try undoing this mess.
Evil Has a Bad Sense of Humor: He utters the line "We live in a society" while gazing upon the devastated landscape in the trailer. This is clearly a Meme Acknowledgement, and it's quite awkwardly used given the context (is there really any society left in this post-apocalyptic world?). It doesn't appear in the actual film, however. The line was improvised by Leto.
Evil Laugh: Even with the world being in such a sorry state and him still being sane enough to acknowledge how bad the situation is, he'll still let some laughs out, even though they sound more subdued than ever.
Evil Versus Oblivion: Even he sees the necessity of teaming up with Batman to try undoing what Darkseid did to Earth.
Future Badass: He survived the apocalypse brought upon Earth by Darkseid and looks like he's geared for guerilla actions.
My Card: He gives a Joker card to Batman as a symbol of their truce. Shall the Dark Knight want to break that truce, he'd just have to tear that card up. The card could be seen strapped on Batman's assault rifle in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Nice Job Breaking It, Hero!: Joker gets a high reminding Batman how costly his mistakes in the past have been.
The Nicknamer: He nicknames Mera "my little fish stick" and Robin "Boy Wonder".
Progressively Prettier: Despite being worse for wear, this Joker is arguably even better looking than his previous appearance, with his over-the-top tattooed gangster image toned down and his androgyny played up. Ironically, this version also more closely resembles the Heath Ledger incarnation.
Thousand-Yard Stare: He has such a stare when looking at the devastated horizon as he starts talking to Batman.
Villain Has a Point: While he’s the one who killed Robin, he gives Batman a minor What the Hell, Hero? for sending “a Boy Wonder to do a man’s job.”
Vocal Evolution: His voice is much softer and higher pitched than it was in Suicide Squad.

Ikemen Sengoku Mafia!AU (Oda Forces)
In case y’all didn’t know I also write for Otome (both Voltage and Cybird)
Oda Nobunaga: the leader
Tumblr media
Absolutely a leader of a yakuza- and a good one at that too
(Assuming this takes place in modern day japan) runs one of the biggest Yakuza factions
On the outside though, he’s a very successful heir to a large, multimillion company (think Eisuke Ichinomiya from KBTBB I mean they’re practically the same person cmon)
Due to his seemingly inconspicuous ‘day job’ and charming personality making him very popular to the public eye, no one suspects him of being involved in any organized crime, so he’s able to operate very smoothly under the radar
Of course, he has spies every where- including in the government and police force so his tracks are very covered
Aims to take political power at some point and have his faction be the dominant faction (eliminating all possible rivals)
His biggest one being his enemy Kenshin Uesugi’s faction, who takes any and every opportunity they can to get under his nerves constantly lmao
Nobunaga and Kenshin have never seen each other face to face (if they did it’d be a blood bath), but still have an unspoken respect for each other as much as they hate each other lmao
The rivalry between their two families has lasted generations- now that it’s their turn, Nobunaga is determined to end it with the last laugh
Nobunaga’s still the same arrogant, cocky bastard he is, but 100x worse (as with modern technology)
Grew up with a very traditional family who were samurais in the past, so he’s had a lot of training in swordsmanship and martial arts
Always keeps a pistol in his jacket pocket and wears a bulletproof vest 90% of the time
(He’s not that good with guns tho)
On his desk there’s probably a little plateful of candies, and his fridge is also stocked with sweet things (it’s a wonder how he doesn’t have diabetes yet)
Also has a pocketful of tiny candies to last him throughout the day (much to Hideyoshi’s dismay)
Also, slicked back hair, suited up Nobunaga with a sleeve tattoo (he’d have to try really hard to keep his sleeve tattoo hidden but still just imagine)
Hideyoshi Toyotomi: the bodyguard
Tumblr media
Hideyoshi is Nobunaga’s most trusted confidant, who also serves as his bodyguard
Wherever Nobunaga goes, Hideyoshi follows suit
More often than not the voice of reason
Always trusts his gut and is always skeptical of new members (or just people in general why won’t you trust me dammit)
He came from a poor family of farmers in the countryside, and when they couldn’t take care of him anymore they abandoned him
He was a thief for a little while, until Nobunaga’s dad took him in and raised him as his own
Hideyoshi deems this a debt he has to pay, and him helping Nobunaga and keeping him straight will repay the family’s kindness
He’s always the one to direct less major missions and cleans up the messes
Frequently in contact with Mistuhide, and he hates the guy (more like annoyed tbh)
He’s basically Nobunaga’s messenger lmao
And mother older brother figure, he frequently stops Nobunaga from rampaging over something insignificant and keeps him from being unhealthy by taking away his candies sometimes
Is better skilled with a gun, and thus carries not one, but two (those like shoulder straps for guns under his suit type of thing)
He goes undercover from time to time, although it’s not his specialty- he’s kind of a jack of all trades kinda guy
He’s really good at sussing out the spies and traitors, because he listens to his gut and it’s almost always right
Will do anything and everything to help Nobunaga succeed, even if it means killing anyone who stands in the way
Date Masamune: the affiliate
Tumblr media
Masamune is actually the leader of another yakuza faction, but since it was so weak at the time he took the opportunity to pair up with Nobunaga
His faction deals more with drugs and weapons, smuggling them over borders and getting them out and in of the country
That being said, most of his deals take place at exclusive bars and clubs- where the richest of the rich gather
He’s a pretty laid-back guy for someone who runs a drug syndicate- he doesn’t really care how things get done as long as they get done somehow
Also pretty goofy- when people first meet him, they’d think that there was no way he was in the yakuza
Even though the sleeve tattoos and the eyepatch probably should’ve been enough for them to know
And the massive amount of jewelry, too- Masamune isn’t shy about his wealth like at all
He’s totally the type to wear those bigass rings, complete with sapphires on them just to show off a little more
He loves to piss off Nobunaga, he loves for it
Ieyasu tells him that it might get him killed (low key a worried bb) but Masamune knows Nobunaga isn’t gonna get rid of him anytime soon; due to the fact that Masamune’s faction gives a shit ton of money
Him and Ieyasu tolerate get along pretty well, although the latter may deny it
Out of all of them, he’s probably the strongest and most skilled combat-wise; he’s adept in martial arts, knives and blades, as well as having an extensive knowledge on firearms and even bombs and how to use them
Honestly, he’s with Nobunaga just for the power boost- ones his faction gets enough power, he’s gonna dip then come back and be like ‘sike u thought’
Masamune has the same aspiration as both Nobunaga and Kenshin, but knows he can’t fight them both at the same time. So why not let the two battle it out then fight the winner?
Akechi Mistuhide: the spy
Tumblr media
Aka the rat
Mistuhide is a double agent working for Nobunaga, on his own terms
He’s a spy within the government’s police force, and nobody has caught him yet
Tells Nobunaga about any upcoming busts and when and where they’re gonna go, who they’re going to investigate and go after, basically all information on cases that may affect him
Very good at hiding his tracks- it’s almost impossible to get this guy
Also very good at swaying his coworkers and even bosses- tells them whether or not to pursue a case or person, acknowledge evidence, and even do something for him
He started out as an assassin for hire before becoming an informant for Nobunaga, which is the foundation for the distrust Hideyoshi has on him
Coupled with the fact that he’s easily a manipulative and cunning bastard, you’ve got someone who is a valuable asset but you can’t help but wonder when he’ll turn his back on you
He’s actually the son of a very rich man who had many wives and concubines; growing up, his father’s other wives would try to kill him using any tactic they could, so he developed quickly some skills that children shouldn’t have learned
He knows when food and drinks are poisoned, when someone is trying to ambush you, and when someone is lying- and this was before any formal training for an assassin
Because of his talent with blades and smaller guns, he’s the one Nobunaga sends out most of the time to kill someone and make it seem like an accident
Teams up with Masamune to annoy Nobunaga, Hideyoshi, and Ieyasu (sometimes)
He once went undercover with Hideyoshi- the teasing was unfiltered and hard. Hideyoshi kept yelling at him to please stop, we have a fuckinh mission to do and you making me flustered will not make this any less difficult.
He honestly just lives to see people annoyed/embarrassed lmao
Used to tease Ieyasu a lot before Masamune came and essentially replaced him
Mitsuhide’s reasons for joining Nobunaga’s faction still remains a mystery, and he’d like to keep it that way
Tokugawa Ieyasu: the doctor
Tumblr media
Why is there no yellow
The underground doctor who works for Nobunaga, Ieyasu has plenty of knowledge and experience despite his young age
At first, you’d think he isn’t a doctor at all- he‘s rough, not exactly friendly, and easily irritated; which is exactly what makes him so good at his job
As an underground doctor, Ieyasu’s primary job is to salvage whatever unfortunate soul had been injured at the time- sometimes, it’d be much, much more than one person
He can’t afford to let his emotions get to him and slow him down, so he’s learned to repress his emotions and completely focus on his job instead
Also, he can’t be like a traditional doctor because he’s dealing with criminals here- and with his pretty face, not everyone’s gonna take him seriously if he offers the usual caring doctor attitude
Ieyasu grew up in a wealthy family before being kidnapped and sold in the black market as a child, abused within the system and eventually ended up in an old doctor’s hands
The old doctor would basically take him on as an apprentice and told him all his medical knowledge, urging him to follow in his footsteps before he died
When the doctor did die, Ieyasu continued his medical studies and attended several schools and universities before going off the grid completely
Years later he was found in a back alley market (think the black market from beastars) by non other than Nobunaga, who he saved from some thugs (or at least tried to)
Because of his work as a doctor, he often forgets to really take a rest and goes days without sleeping and living off spicy ramen noodles
It’s gotten so bad at one point that Masamune (who buys the noodles for him regularly) actually confiscated all of them and demanded Ieyasu be given a day off (he can’t have tease him if he’s dead!)
Speaking of Masamune, they met after the ‘eyepatch wearing idiot’ came into his clinic after a particularly grueling gun fight with the police
He’s kind of thankful for Masamune- Ieyasu would still have to deal with Mitsuhide and that guy gets on his nerves the quickest, if Masamune didn’t take his spot lmao
He has a little pet porcupine at home, and he sometimes sticks him in the chest pocket of his doctor’s coat whenever he knows he’s gonna spend days at his clinic
Don’t let his pretty looks fool you; mans learned many combat skills from Masamune including how to absolutely murder people with guns
Ishida Mitsunari: the hacker
Tumblr media
From how sweet and kind he looks he definitely does not look like part of the Yakuza
Like, he looks like he belongs in a classroom teaching kids, not in a computer room hacking government files
Extremely skilled hacker- he can get any information from anywhere and leave no trace
Is the main source of information for Nobunaga
Mitsunari was the son of a college professor, and spent most of his time reading in the school library when his father took him to his lectures
Pretty soon he found himself loving computers and tinkering with them, eventually leading to him hacking some minor websites
Fat forward a couple of years and his curious nature doesn’t stop, leading to him discovering some secret files/tapes of Nobunaga’s faction
He left a clear enough trace that he was easily tracked down and almost killed; however, Nobunaga saw some potential in him and decided to give him a choice between dying or joining them (not much of a choice there buddy)
He joined in his late teens, so he’s never really experienced what life was like (thanks Nobunaga)
Nonetheless, he’s actually pretty terrifying when he’s angry
With his demeanor, you’d think he wouldn’t have a mean bone in his body- wrong
Being in the yakuza at a young age, he’s seen some shit and learned some shit- and he’s even tried some of them
Many people have spited him, thinking he’s a doormat
Mitsunari does not let that fly
People underestimate how much he can ruin their lives through the computer screen- financial ruin, a hard hit to reputations, etc
He rarely if ever does that though, most of the time he’d just brush it off and continue what he’s doing (unless it escalates then you’re fucked lmao Mitsudarki come thru)
Mitsunari’s really good with kids, so often times the higher ups or other members leave their kids or pets with him because even if he is booked for work, he still takes stellar care of them
Gets teased by Mitsuhide often, but doesn’t get what he’s saying most of the time
Is heavily opposed to killing- he’d much rather talk it through with someone or ruin their life rather than taking it
Uggghhhhh this took so long but I love these little shits so it was worth it 😤😤 they’re so pretty wth-

A Series on Series 04: Deborah Harkness’ All Souls Trilogy: A Discovery of Witches/Season 1
Tumblr media
Hi! I’m Alex, a YouTube Newbie and this is The Late Lockdown List where I talk about the list of things I’ve got on my mind since the lockdown started.
Today, on the fourth episode of A Series on Series, I’ll be talking about Deborah Harkness’ All Souls Trilogy, starting with the first book,  A Discovery of Witches
Tumblr media
and the basis of the season 1 of the TV series.
Tumblr media
Let’s dive a little bit into it.
Why is it called the ‘All Souls Trilogy’?
I could do research, but having read the entire series, I think it’s because the male lead, Matthew Clairmont or Matthew de Clermont, in the book belongs to the All Souls College at Oxford University.
Tumblr media
A bit of trivia: All Souls College does not have undergraduate members, and it’s unique in the sense that all members automatically become fellows -- full members of the college’s governing body. The examination for the fellowship has once been described as ‘the hardest exam in the world.”
If you’re not familiar with the book or the TV series, just know that there are going to be a lot of spoilers. With that out of the way, first a primer:
The two main characters here are Diana Bishop
Tumblr media
-- a Yale historian, visiting scholar at Oxford (where she also got her PhD) and reluctant witch.
She’s the daughter of two very powerful witches,
Tumblr media
but due to the tragic death of her parents she’s shied away from witchcraft and very seldom uses her power, if at all. After her parents’ death, she was raised by her maternal aunt Sarah and her partner Emily who are both witches.
Tumblr media
They tried to teach her, but Diana’s grief at her parents’ death caused her to all but reject magic.
Then we have Matthew Clairmont (aka Matthew de Clermont of the powerful vampire de Clermont family, aka Matthew Roydon), a geneticist, All Souls College fellow and 1,500-year-old vampire.
Tumblr media
There are creatures in this series: daemons, vampires and witches. They’re not HUMAN. That’s why they call themselves ‘creatures’ -- to differentiate themselves from us. Daemons
Tumblr media
are blessed with creativity and cursed with madness.
Vampires
Tumblr media
are -- well, the usual kind that we’re familiar with. Here, though, they mate for life, like wolves.
Witches
Tumblr media
have magic -- different kinds like time walking, precognition, flight, transmogrification, telekinesis, witchwind, witchfire, witchwater, and manipulation of the elements.
Basically, if you’re familiar with Harry Potter and Twilight, then you know what witches and vampires are. Speaking of the whole Harry Potter and Twilight thing, The New York Times calls this the ‘Harry Potter for grownups’
Tumblr media
and NPR calls it ‘Twilight for the intellectually restless.’
Tumblr media
Make of that what you will.
For me, I don’t compare this with the other two. I think it stands very separately from those. Since this is written by an historian, the approach is markedly different. It’s well-researched -- as are most historical romance novels -- because it does deal with a certain time period.
What I love about this -- and you’ll be hearing this from me a lot -- is the world building. I judge a book by the world it creates for me. I have to be able to LIVE in that world. And in most cases, I have to WANT to live in that world.
This is a world inhabited by creatures I’ve been fascinated with my entire life -- except for daemons. I did my first thesis on vampires -- let’s not talk about why it didn’t get accepted. It’s still a sore point for me even after so many years later. And as for witches, well… family tradition has it that my maternal great grandmother was a witch. In fact, growing up, I’d heard
whispers of her supplementing her income by being a ‘healer.’ I’m not sure how much of that is true but I like to believe that it is.
So vampires and witches, I’m sold. I can tolerate the daemons.
Another thing I love about this are the well-written characters. While I can’t actually relate to Diana Bishop, I don’t have to for me to like her. She just needs to be alive for me in the book. And she is very much so. I envy her graduate degrees -- I wish I had the discipline to obtain a PhD. And spending time at the Bodleian. *sigh*
Tumblr media
Anyway, I can understand her rejection of magic. After all, in a way it’s what took her parents away from her. But I like how she was able to adjust when she realizes that she’s got this power -- which is far stronger than anyone thought it would be.
As for Matthew -- *sigh* -- I’m a sucker for vampires. Yes, I went there. I love him. He’s a scientist and he’s good with his hands. By that, I mean he used to be a stone mason so he can build things. What? I like a guy who’s handy.
I also like the love story. Matthew and Diana are equals -- in the sense that they are partners in the relationship. Of course, with Matthew having been alive for more than a millennia -- plus vampire, plus a guy, he has a tendency to be domineering, convinced that he’s doing all things to protect Diana. However, Diana is a POWERFUL witch. She’s a scholar, too. She can take care of herself. Matthew may be physically stronger, but Diana is a POWER. And as she grows into that, Matthew struggles to keep up as well curb his tendency to be overprotective. For the most part, they do keep this balance.
On to the differences of the book from the show:
Overall, the TV series was faithful to the book. Most of the scenes in TV series are in the book. The show is gorgeous. I love the architecture and just the overall mood. I think Teresa Palmer makes a good Diana, but I love Matthew Goode. Period. But he is very, very good as Matthew Clairmont.
I know Teresa Palmer is Australian and Diana Bishop is American so I’m not sure if it’s just me, but I do hear Teresa’s native accent here and there. It’s not distracting, but since I know that the one she uses for her character is not her original accent, I can’t help but hear the Australian one. Matthew Goode, on the other hand, is British, and Matthew Clairmont is as well. Well, for the last couple of centuries he is, but he’s originally French. But overall, I have no problem believing they’re really Diana and Matthew.
As for Gillian Chamberlain,
Tumblr media
the other witch at Oxford who in the TV series is sort of Diana’s friend… in the book, they’re merely acquaintances. She’s played by Louise Brealey aka Molly Hooper in Sherlock.
Tumblr media
I love the actress and I love that I found Gillian both slightly annoying and a bit pathetic. Because in the book, she is. So I love that that’s how she’s also played in the series.
Then we have Aunt Sarah. When I saw Alex Kingston, my first thought was, “River!” If you don’t know, Alex Kingston played ‘River Song’ in Doctor Who.
Tumblr media
And I loved her in that. So I knew I’d love her here, too. I do have the same ‘thing’ with her as with Teresa. Alex Kingston is British and here she plays an American. I can hear the accent. It’s not distracting, but it’s there.
And then there’s Peter Knox.
Tumblr media
In the book, I found him arrogant, condescending and just a generally irritating person. In the series, he is more so. And the actor who plays him played Ser Alliser Thorne in ‘Game of Thrones.’
Tumblr media
He was one of the Night’s Watch who tormented and had a hand, literally, in killing Jon Snow. But he got his comeuppance when he was hanged with the rest of the traitors. He was very convincing as a conniving SOB in GOT. And he is here, as well. In fact, he’s equal parts menacing and irritating. Which is a terrifying combination because if he’s just irritating, you can swat him away like a gnat. But because he’s menacing, you know you have to watch your back.
Satu Jarvinen
Tumblr media
in the show is exactly how I thought she would look like when I read her in the book. In fact, the actress Malin Buska, infuses her with a somewhat edgy, emo attitude that really works. You can see why Satu and Peter work well because they seem to have something missing inside them that they think the other one has. It’s not a romantic connection -- more that of villains who don’t think they’re bad people.
And Ysabeau de Clermont.
Tumblr media
Lindsay Duncan plays her, who also played Lady Smallwood in Sherlock.
Tumblr media
She does have the whole ‘lady of the manor’ aura -- both regal and frightening. I really liked how she snobbishly said how modern day witches are so uneducated -- all because Diana even with her post graduate degrees didn’t speak Occitan.
Tumblr media
FAVORITE SCENES:
The rowing scenes:
Tumblr media
This is very self-serving because I like rowing. I haven’t had a lot of chances to row in the water. I bought a rowing machine at the start of the pandemic and actually did a few months of rowing for 20 minutes three times a week. Then I stopped. I can’t remember why. But I love the scenes of Diana rowing -- which she does to rid herself of excess energy caused by her power -- because I imagine rowing along the Thames myself.
Any time they’re in the Bodleian: I love libraries. I’ve loved them since I was a child. I loved them when I was in college. I was actually really excited that my university decided to extend the library hours on Fridays just so I could stay there and read to my heart’s content. Also, whenever I go to a foreign country, I always go to the national library.
This isn’t in the show, but in the book, but I love how everyone at the Bodleian scrambled to cater to Matthew when he went to the library. I liked how irritated Diana was that this guy took her spot… that they gave it to him solely on the basis of his being an All Souls fellow. In the TV series, they don’t really emphasize how much of a big shot Matthew is at Oxford.
I like how Matthew, when he was talking to his daemon friend, Hamish Osborne, was self-aware enough not to immediately think that Diana had the same feelings for him as he did for her. Since he’s a 1,500-year-old vampire who knew Charles Darwin, of course he’s a great resource for a history of science researcher.
Tumblr media
I love that part when Diana was trying to guess how old Matthew was and she asked, “Survived the fall of Carthage?” and he says, “Which fall of Carthage?” It was a playful exchange, and you can see that he was showing off a bit.
Tumblr media
Sept-Tours:
Tumblr media
literally ‘Seven Towers’ and is the current family home of the de Clermonts. It must be hell to heat, but as most of the residents are vampires, it shouldn’t be a problem. It’s beautiful and like Matthew, I would probably claim my own tower as well.
While it’s not my favorite scene, I think they did the part of Satu torturing Diana
Tumblr media
-- in the pretext of trying to ‘open her up’ to see what her power is -- was done well. When I read that scene, I was wondering how much of it they were going to put in the book. So it was heartening to see that ‘horrifying’ scene there.
Tumblr media
I’m not sure how I feel about the ‘instalove.’ You know that thing that sometimes happens where the leads just fall in love at first sight? In the series, it feels like it’s instalove. Diana and Matthew first meet at the Bodleian -- the day after Diana experiences the magic in Ashmole 782. It’s a book all creatures have been trying to find. Matthew, in particular, has been searching for it for more than a century. It’s thought to explain the origins of all creatures. Matthew is initially drawn to Diana because she is able to “call” the book.
Anyway, going back to the idea of ‘instalove,’ I mean, sure there was chemistry… but...  In the books, their connection was fostered both by the time they spent with each other and their curiosity about Ashmole 782. I was more convinced in the book about that part than in the TV series. Or maybe it’s my deep-seated and sometimes difficult to conceal bias FOR the book versus its live action adaptation.
~
The Congregation: Secret island!
Tumblr media
It’s actually on an island in Venice, concealed from humans. It has nine members, 3 from each supernatural race. And since the de Clermont patriarch established it, one of the rules is to always have a de Clermont on the Congregation. It was created during the Crusades as a self-regulating body for the creatures. Because most of the creatures abused their powers and abilities to influence outcomes during the Crusades, they attracted unwanted attention from humans. Ostensibly to keep the creatures safe from humans, the congregation agreed to several covenants: the main ones being that they must not interfere in human politics and religion and for creatures not to mix together, especially in terms of romantic relationships.
This is the covenant Diana and Matthew break. In fairness to Diana, she had no idea. She didn’t even know about the existence of The Congregation, much less the covenant. And so Matthew does this whole ‘noble idiot’ thing where he denies his feelings for her… but of course, in the end, they end up together.
Tumblr media
Moving on, the first book ends with Diana and Matthew going back to New York to Aunt Sarah’s and Aunt Em’s house. The original plan was for Diana to learn more about her magic from her witch aunts. The problem is that Diana’s magic isn’t the same as theirs. And they need someone to teach her so she can call the book again -- this time intentionally.
They’re joined by married daemons, Sophie and Nathaniel; two vampires: Marcus, Matthew’s vampire son, and Miriam, an ally of the de Clermonts and Matthew’s  colleague at the lab, and Hamish. As there are now 3 witches (Sarah, Em and Diana), 3 vampires (including Matthew) and 3 demons, this is in effect a ‘coventicle’ -- this will be important later in the books.
Tumblr media
They’re all gathered there for different reasons: Sophie, because she’s meant to give Diana something that has been passed down in her family for generations (and one that’s needed for the timewalk, the vampires to update Matthew regarding their research (and I guess for moral support as well), and Hamish both because he’s Matthew’s best friend and lawyer (real world legalities must be observed before one undertakes a timewalk).
They leave for Sept Tour, which Matthew volunteered as their HQ of sorts, on Halloween. That night, Matthew and Diana are going to timewalk. And seconds before they could do so, Gerbert de Aurillac, Peter Knox and Satu Jarvinen arrive to stop them.
Tumblr media
Of course, they don’t and we see our couple land somewhat shakily in 1590 London…
Tumblr media
And the season ends there, setting us up for the next one and The Book of Shadows.
FINAL NOTE:
I LOVE IT!
Like I said earlier, it’s faithful to the book in the sense that I didn’t find anything that was off.
If you loved the books, I’m sure you’ll love the TV adaptation as well.
I was a little nervous that I wouldn’t love it as much. I’d been burned before, you see. (I’m looking at you, American Gods. Even Ian McShane and Orlando Jones’ Mr. Nancy couldn’t keep me hooked.)
However, I wasn’t disappointed in this one. There’s a lot to love here and I’m glad that there’s a second season -- and now they’re even done filming the third.
So that’s it for the first book and Season 1. Catch you in the next episode for The Book of Shadows and Season 2. Bye!

fic writer asks
Tagged by @burninghoneyatdusk! Thanks, Sam!
Name(s)?
bellamyblake (Tumblr)
bellofthetolppl (Ao3)
Fandom(s)?
The 100, but I have written for others in the past like HP and TVD.
Where you post? Ao3 and here when it comes to headcanons or one-shots and sometimes multichaps like with Little Steps at first at least. I’m growing kind of wary of ao3.
Most popular one-shot (by kudos)?
The smell of loneliness in the air
Alternate Universe - Modern Setting/ Hurt/Comfort/ Injury/ Alternate Universe - Hospital/ hurt!bellamy/ doctor!clarke
Bellamy Blake and Clarke Griffin had a bad date two weeks ago. They parted ways and forgot all about it. Or at least they tried. Now Bellamy's in the hospital fighting with Clarke's favorite nurse John Murphy and trying to get himself discharged.
This is a really old fic I wrote a long time ago. The idea came to me super randomly late one night when they mostly do. I think it’s popular only because it’s modern setting and just kind of fits into what people in the fandom are into so like not extreme hurt comfort like what I like writing but more of a regular kind of type hurt with angst.
Most popular multi-chapter (by kudos)?
Hanging on the words you say
Major Character Death Alternate Universe - Modern Setting/ Angst/ Hurt/Comfort/ Epistolary/ soldier!bellamy/ doctor!clarke/ Best friend's brother/ The Delinquents/ Enemies to Friends to Lovers
Bellamy Blake is on his second tour when he emails the only person he can't stand aka the obnoxious Clarke Griffin just because he doesn't have a choice and has managed to push away everyone else from his life. What was a one-time thing turns to be a constant flow of emails.
This is still my favorite fic that I wrote for this fandom though the backlash in the final chapters and people being angry at me kinda got me to stop writing for a year. But I loved loved loved writing it, it was fun and it was painful and it was sad. May not be best in terms of word order or eloquence but it’s my favorite piece for this fandom that I have written as a multichapter fic.
Favourite story you’ve written so far?
Obviously apart from Hanging on the words you say I’d also add:
Tap my shoulder, hold my hand
Alternate Universe - Modern Setting/ Hurt/Comfort/ Angst/ Fluff/ cowboy!bellamy/ college student!Clarke/ young octavia/ aurora is alive and not bad okay/ same with jake/ References to Depression
Bellamy Blake used to be one of the most popular bull riders in the state, winning rodeos and competitions whenever he went until a terrible injury put him down and now he has to get used to a new way of living. Thankfully, he has his best friend Clarke Griffin by his side no matter what.
I wrote this fic around this time last year and it kind of started as a joke. I had began it a few months prior and abandoned it, only doing it to fullfill my own whump desires but then I randomly picked it up again and it was awesome and fun and I loved tackling important issues like Bellamy’s depression and writing Aurora as a good mom and young Octavia. It was really fun and the story is very close to my heart because I think I did a maybe okayish job at it and i never say that. People aren’t big fans of it because it’s very whumpy but I loved writing it.
Fic you were nervous to post?
I was very nervous to post my first smut fic:
The perfect sleeping arrangement
Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence/ Hurt/Comfort/ Smut/ Fluff and Smut/ Mommy Kink/ Anxiety Disorder/ Nightmares
Bellamy always tries to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders but at night he's breaking apart-anxiety and nightmares are tearing him up, yet he won't let Clarke take care of him. Unless she insists and he starts opening up to her.
Angst, fluff, spooning and smut ensue!
I am really bad at writing smut but this has been lots of fun and I do think there’s a lack of mommy!kink in the fandom and Bellamy being taken care of so *shrugs*. But I am still awful at smut. However it was fun but Idk if I’ll keep it posted.
How do you choose your titles?
I mostly use songs! I’m bad with coming up with titles, I either need help from a friend or the title just randomly in a moment of rare clarity and serenity comes to me out of nowhere but that almost never happens so...songs it is!
Do you outline?
I used to outline more like on paper, have a plan and all but now I kind of just outline in my head. For some fics I don’t outline, I just go from moment to moment, chapter to chapter-I find it more challenging that way and more fun for myself. I usually have a general idea of the ending before I have even started writing or sometimes when I’m halfway through but chapter to chapter my thoughts change and I like to twist stuff around for my own entertainment.
Complete works? 31
In-progress works? 3 on ao3 and about like 10 ideas in my drafts that are not finished and I sometimes write for just for fun but don’t plan to post.
Prompts? I frankly don’t like prompts because I like coming up with the ideas of the fics myself and whenever I get a prompt to fill I feel like I always just fuck it up majorly and it is not what the reader wanted at all. But Little steps started as a prompt and I am glad I kept writing for it so I guess it’s 50/50!

Note
do you have any longer frikey fics, preferably bottom frank if theres smut
I do have some longer Frank/Mikey stuff, but no guarantee on bottom Frank!
Longer Frank/Mikey
Emotional Brilliance by kopperblaze, 21k, Mature. Toro and Mikey are a good team, Mikey doesn’t get why Brian had to hire someone else. In particular he doesn’t get why Brian had to hire Frank, who knows nothing about Lush products and who's incapable of keeping his mouth shut. Lush!AU. The one where Ray is a skin care expert, Frank is obnoxious, Mikey is annoyed and Pete leaves glittery handprints all over everything.
Gross roomies by turps, 36k, Explicit. Frank loves living with Mikey. Sure, the apartment is a mess, the kitchen's a toxic wasteland, and there's something growing in the refrigerator that's just a day or two away from becoming sentient, but other than those minor inconveniences, it's all cool. Or it is until Mikey decides to embark on a journey of sexual discovery and adventure and Frank's left at home with nothing but the fridge monster for company. To make matters worse, Mikey insists on telling Frank everything he does with his new kinky friends, right down to the tiniest detail. And now suddenly Frank is best friends with his right hand and he can't stop thinking about Mikey in ways he never has before. The really big problem, other than suddenly being in lust with his best friend, is that Frank isn't sure why.
Won't Know 'til You Begin by knight_tracer, Sena, 24k, Explicit. In which Frank is an accidental pervert, Mikey sleeps with Fabio, Gerard is much too sincere when talking about pain sluts, Ray is terrible with women and great with guitars, and Otter's got really bad taste in music. Alternately, the one where Frank realizes he has a thing for Mikey, Mikey realizes he has a thing for guys, and they're both adorably stupid failboats.
On Air by ladyfoxxx, 15k, Teen And Up Audiences. Frank's a radio DJ at an alternative station, spinning punk tracks and talking shit. When he gets handed the most popular show at the station to host, his first guests are independent horror filmmakers Gerard and Mikey Way.
Standing on a Planet that's Evolving and Revolving by Green, 13k, Explicit. The evolution of Frank Iero, age 15.
Buenas Noches From A Lonely Room by Femme (femmequixotic), 15k, Explicit. Frank wants to touch Mikey, to slide his fingers across the sharp angle of his cheek just below his glasses, to drag his thumb along the curve of his bottom lip, to smooth his palm down Mikey's long throat.
What Dreams May Come by sperrywink, 15k, Explicit. His career in music derailed, Frank never met the other guys in My Chemical Romance. A silly tale of teleportation.
a scent and a sound by mwestbelle, 15k, Explicit. In an urban fantasy world where werewolves can't hold a decent job and no roommate wants them, werewolf Frank is looking for an apartment. He finds one with Mikey Way.
Heart Wrapped in Clover by Sena, 19k, Explicit. Everbody's got their not-so-secret secrets on tour. When you live out of a van, you just can't help but notice things that you shouldn't talk about if you don't want to embarrass your friends or start a fight. Frank wishes sometimes they talked about things, though, because he's dying to ask if anybody else has noticed that sometimes, Mikey wears panties.
Tints Verse by turps, 65k, Mature. A MCR AU where Ray has his own gardening firm, and one day he does a job for the Ways.
We Used To Be Friends by ladyfoxxx, 50k, Explicit. "You and me, right Mikes?" "Yeah, fuck everybody else." Best friends since high school, if Frank could've chosen a brother, he'd pick Mikey. Then Mikey became a rock star and Frank... didn't. After years of radio silence, Mikey steps onto a stage in Jersey and back into Frank's life. (Or, the one where Frank is a school teacher and Mikey plays rhythm in The Used.)
And the Painted Ponies by turps, 35k, Mature. After years of struggling to be taken seriously as a bodyguard, Frank Iero is finally well established. He loves his boss, Ray, he loves his job, and he prides himself on his professionalism. But then he's assigned to be the personal bodyguard of Mikey Way. Mikey Way, aka Roboboy, is a successful high fashion model. Loved by designers and the public alike for his trademark lack of emotion, but mocked by the tabloid press for the exact same reason. Mikey is someone that Frank's sure he'll hate. Except it doesn't work out that way. In fact, it doesn't take long before Frank discovers he really likes Mikey. Maybe too much.
Better Than A Paid Life by gala_apples, 15k, Explicit. Gerard and Mikey Way are the Killjoys, a motorbaby duo. That is, until their car gets wrecked in a battle and the dashboard accessory of their new Trans Am is an ex-Companion with a mission.
Crash by Gorgeous Nerd (gorgeousnerd), 26k, Explicit. In a future version of Seattle, Frank Iero's a lot of things: bike messenger, cage fighter, sometimes thief, Ray Toro's roommate. Mikey Way's also a lot of things: record label owner, co-heir to his grandmother's fortune, younger brother. Neither are normal. But they don't know just how far each other's abnormalities go until Frank's past and a secret of Mikey's unexpectedly shove together. (Dark Angel AU.)
Sound Tracking by turps, 46k, Mature. The beat is muted, almost non-existent, and the loss hits Bob hard. He's used to living his life in a constant thrum of sound, sensing those around him, the rhythm of the universe a constant companion, but here there's almost nothing. He can feel the sound that's been pulling him for weeks now, but little else. This place is dead, almost silent, and Bob aches with the feeling of being cast into nothingness. A MCR - Bob and Gerard centric space AU where Gerard's band has been taken from him and Bob helps find them. Also features FOB, especially Pete.
Drink Cider From a Lemon by turps, 20k, General Audiences. A story about friendship, love and building your own kind of home.
Mikey Way and the Quest for the Stone by Roxy_palace, 29k, Explicit. “I’m in Colombia!” Mikey said, raising his voice over the crackle of a poor connection. “No. no, no, no, no,” James wailed. Mikey could really relate to his disbelief. He couldn't believe he was in mother fucking Colombia either.
Below the Trees, Which Are Below the Stars by alpheratz, 38k, Explicit. In the mid-1920s, Gerard and Mikey moved to France - Gerard to pursue art, Mikey because he couldn't stay behind. Now, it's 1930, and Mikey's become an airmail pilot, flying the mail route to Dakar with his navigator Frank. For a long time, the only rough thing about Mikey's life was the strain on his and Gerard's soulbond when Mikey was away, but his growing feelings for Frank and the arrival of Frank's old friend Ray could change everything.
Food of Love by Lucifuge5, 12k, Teen And Up Audiences. Ever since it re-opened, Frank's been "Sweet Nothings"'s number one customer. That he harbors a gigantic crush on one of the owners is something that he's kept to himself for the most part (Ray will never tell a soul.) It's not until he strikes a friendship with the older brother of the object of his affection that he 'fesses up. Moved by Frank's pining, Gerard promises to help Frank woo Mikey. Complications arise when Gerard's "helpful advice" is anything but. Will Frank be successful in his courtship or are his chances to win Mikey's heart as ruined as a burnt cupcake?
You Only Hear The Music (When Your Heart Begins To Break) by Acadjonne, 28k, Mature. Mikey and Frank have known each other for years. They're roommates, and best friends. They're also friends with benefits. The arrangement is casual, and it suits them both. Somewhere along the way, Mikey develops feelings for Frank, but he pushes them aside. They aren't important, he'll be fine. Or, Mikey is fine, until he somehow ends up pregnant a year into this thing with Frank, and all of a sudden, he's got more to deal with than just how long he'll be able to hide his feelings for Frank or how the hell he's supposed to afford his transition.
Give Me A Reason To Believe (Failboats In Love) by Acadjonne, 14k, Teen And Up Audiences. On the night of October 31st, Linda and Frank Iero welcome a baby boy into their family. He weighs six pounds, four ounces, and is nineteen inches long. They give him a family name, and he becomes the third Iero man to bear the name of Frank. A year later, on All Hallow's Eve, a sleeping baby is taken from his crib and replaced with a fake. The babe will later be taken from the hands of the goblin that stole him, and he will be raised by two rowan treefolk, a house brownie, and some pixies. ----- When Ray walks down the stairs to the Way family basement, the last thing Mikey expects to see is a scrappy and long-haired form following behind him. But as he later finds out, Frank is almost always unexpected in the best of ways, the rest of the world be damned.
Death's Muse by TheFratelliEffect, 53k [WIP], Mature. Lonely and depressed, Mikey Way is battling through the drab years that immediately follow college. Struggling to make a living as an artist, Mikey has became a battered down, quiet introvert whom wants nothing to do with the abusive romance he is unwillingly involved in. On a cold winter morning, the starving artist is confronted with the opportunity to paint Frank Iero, the Midnight Falls' elusive, young doctor, which he takes up immediately. Love and lust ensure as the story opens on the painter as he meets his muse.
Gallons Of The Stuff by MCRmyGeneral, 20k, Explicit. Frank has been amused by blood for as long as he can remember. When he was a child, it was a simple fascination; the way it felt on his hands, the way it looked dripping to the floor, the way it smelled. But as he grew older, that simple fascination morphed into a daring lust. Blood no longer amused him, now it turned him on. Frank has never intentionally hurt someone just to see their blood. He just takes what he can get whenever an accident happens. But when Mikey is hurt bad, Frank discovers how hard it is to keep his hands, and thoughts, to himself. He loves Mikey, he has for a long time. But now, he finds his silence so much harder to keep. He has two choices: either tell Mikey how he feels, about him and his blood, and risk scaring him away, or keep quiet, and never let the man know how much he means to him. Whatever he chooses, he knows that someone will get hurt.

Game of the Gods - 15x08 Our Father Who Aren’t in Heaven
Hey fellow-travellers,
Well done to everyone who speculated Rowena would be the new Queen of Hell!
I’ve just watched the ep. I’m late catching up (and as usual, haven’t jumped into your posts yet, to avoid spoilers) because, here in the UK, we had a very bad, not good, general election result this morning and I’ve been completely sucker punched by it all day.
Anyhoo, Bucklemming did OK with this one. I mean, it doesn’t, perhaps, have quite all the intricate layers of some of our better writers, but hey, it’s got all the moving parts, including the return of Jungian Self and Shadow-Self metaphor in spades (and a healthy, hopeful integrated version at that, as Adam and Michael!Adam get along and share control of consciousness and the vessel). It also contains plenty of pregnant subtext between Dean and Cas, including <drumroll> a mooted return to Purgatory together where, remember, “It felt pure” (in subtext - between them) and Dean prayed to Cas every night.
But, leaving those elements to one side for now, I thought I’d talk first about this shot of Cas, praying to Michael with a chessboard prominently in shot:
Tumblr media
Which, in the context of the story, reminded me of this:
“In their dwellings at peace they played at tables
Of gold no lack did the gods then know”
That’s a quote is from the Poetic Edda, a medieval manuscript containing Old Norse poems, which tells something of pagan Norse mythology.
The quote is about a golden age of the Gods, which comes into being after Ragnarok, the terrible end of the world battle between the Gods and the Giants. In this “end times” battle (as you know) many Gods die and the world is destroyed. However, a new world is born out of the old one, and the surviving Gods are at peace, playing an old Germanic board game, a bit like chess, in Heaven in a new Golden Age.
This cyclical narrative, where apocalypse leads to renewal, is also present in the Bible in the famous passage in Revelations 21:
“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away” (King James Bible)
Chuck has declared, in 14x20 Moriah, “Welcome to the End!” (aka he has declared Ragnarok) and we see him with a chess board in 14x04 Atomic Monsters:
Tumblr media
He is, of course, trying to manipulate his “favourite story”, Sam and Dean Winchester, like chess pieces on a board. However, Cas, as we’ve all observed, seems to be outside Chuck’s favoured misery dude-bro plot - a murder-suicide, in which one Winchester kills the other and then themselves. So, the image of Cas with the chessboard in 15x08 tells us that Cas, too (like Chuck) has power over the “chess board”, aka the Game of the Gods.
Indeed, if my Edda quote proves fruitful, the narrative is telling us that, after this great battle with God (in which some of our heroes may die, at least temporarily) there will be a renewal. Perhaps this is the “Paradise” Jack promised Cas from the womb.
I mentioned that there was a reference in 15x06 Golden Time to Vonnegut’s novel Breakfast of Champions (Dean, grief-eating cereal as a result of his break-up with Cas, refers to it as “breakfast of champions” at the start of the episode) in this post here:
https://drsilverfish.tumblr.com/post/189338866109/me-every-relevant-point-now-forever-onwards-for
Dean and Chuck, of course, we know are both Vonnegut fans, thanks to their exchange about Vonnegut in 4x18 The Monster at the End of this Book - very meta, as Chuck, like Vonnegut, likes to insert a character version of himself (Chuck Shurley) into his stories.
Breakfast of Champions provides a guide for the possible renewal-after-Ragnarok ending of SPN, because in that novel, the writer is persuaded to let go of the control of his characters - to grant them freedom aka true free will.
Vonnegut also wrote a short story, called “All the King’s Horses” (1951) about a deadly game of chess between a captured US Army Colonel and his guerilla-fighter leader captor (set during the Cold War).
The captor, Pi Ying, orders that whenever the Colonel, Kelly, loses a chess piece, one of the men captured with him will be executed. That sounds a lot like Chuck, right? Playing a deadly game of chess with his Winchester Gospels’ protagonists and killing those they love for sport in the game, just as he threatens the lives of Jodie, Donna and Eileen in 15x08 (NB: notice he’s trying to erase the feminine from the narrative again!!!).
Eventually, the Colonel, in Vonnegut’s story, realises he can only win the chess game if he sacrifices one of his knights on the board, but these are being “played” by his sons (also captured with him). Just before Pi Ying kills Kelly’s kid, he is himself murdered by his guerilla-fighter girlfriend, who has been watching the cruel chess game along with him (she then kills herself). One of Pi Ying’s men takes over the game, but Kelly wins and so the remaining hostages are freed.
A deadly chess game, the (almost) sacrifice of a son... sounds like Castiel;s son Jack’s sacrifice by Chuck in 14x20 Moriah, right? And presages Jack’s re-entry into the “game”.
We have seen Cas pictured with chess boards before, notably in 8x08 Hunter Heroici:
Tumblr media
And, given the numerical symmetry - 15x08/ 8x08 (which season 14 established as a definite “thing” - calling back previous episodes numerically, Ouroboros style) I think this call-back is deliberate.
In Hunter Heroici, the psychokinetic resident of retirement home Sunset Fields, Fred Jones, is being manipulated, in his vulnerable state, by one of the doctors to use his powers to alter reality so the doc and his accomplice can pull off a series of thefts (e.g. creating cartoon holes for escape purposes).
Someone powerful enough to alter reality? That becomes a metaphor for Chuck, in this call-back (which, also reminds us of Chip Harrington in 14x15 Peace of Mind).
Cas eventually brings peace to Fred Jones, by mind-stripping him of his powers so he can’t hurt anyone else (at his request) and then staying with him to play music in his mind for a while in the retirement home.
This episode, 8x08, is also right in the middle of the narrative in which Castiel himself is being manipulated by Naomi, and the Winchesters (at this point) don’t know it yet. More manipulation of reality by dubious powers of Heaven parallels!
All this ties in quite nicely with Donatello’s attempt to find a clue in the Demon Tablet to being able to lock up Chuck, and which AU!Michael, apparently, gives Team Free Will a spell for at the end of 15x08.
Castiel, master-tactician that he is (never forget the chess game he played with the angels using Biggersons restaurants in quantum super-position in 8x21 The Great Escapist) has a significant part to play in this final chess game with God himself. He’s a powerful player on the board, and a tactician with influence over the board, precisely because Chuck continually discounts him.
