What about Catherine?

Wasn't she (as Cassandra) blamed for having participated in the regicide, and afterwards sought refuge in GM?

It means that at least just after the Tragedy, some members of the Kingdom (with or without the WC?) blamed House Charon's heir...

And were able to apparently blame her enough that she had to run away from Faerghus, even if she's from one of the most important houses in the Kingdom.

IDK who put a hit on her name, if the Western Lords had enough influence to want to get rid of House Charon (and we know in Nopes that Rufus was in cahoots with them, and with Cleo aka the Western Church aka Agartha), maybe they were more ready/willing to believe that the Central Church was also involved, given how Rhea rescued Cassandra and, I suppose, refused to hand her out to whoever was hunting her.

We know, even in AM, that Dimitri believes that Catherine was innocent and her framing was bullcrap, so I doubt he would have also thought the Church, by sheltering her, was complicit in the regicide.

IIRC, Dimi explains in AM that he went to GM to lead an investigation about the regicide - I guess he already had an inkling about Arundel, given how he studied about him (the thing with his donations). As the crown Prince, imo, he can't basically accuse or investigate Arundel freely, but if he does so in GM (and even so, in secret) it'd be less suspicious.

Dimitri in Nopes is pretty neutral if not partial to the Central Church, and, imo, all the shit that comes up with Fraud is basically Nopes being all "fuck it they have to be friends else my plot falls apart" - after all it's the same game that has Dimitri agree that somehow, the Central Church forbids contact with outsiders or force people to marry, without telling Fraud that he's full of shit given how, say, Rhea never took any measures against Lambert going to Duscur, has her people assist the war efforts and help Duscurians, or never gave any shit to the Dominics who make a living by trading with Albinea.

Also, given how Dimitri pretends he will get flak if he doesn't offer asylum to Rhea because she is very popular in Faerghus, unless he only meant "the people living in Eastern Faerghus" it apparently looks like despite the Western Church mounting assassination attempts or dissing the Central Church on a daily basis, Faerghus in general seems to appreciate the Central Church (as opposed to, say, the randoms living in Leicester).

Maybe it's my own bias or thinking Dimitri's too level headed to agree with anything Fraud says, especially in Nopes, but their convos teetering on "Church maybe BaD" really felt like a doylist intervention that had Dimitri act OOC to pretend Fraud has a point and not, you know, call him out on his shit.

As for the rest of the Lions, the only one I can see giving some credence to the Western Church nonsense is Ashe, but the game wrote him as a snowflake and not as the adopted and very loving son of someone (Lonato) who's basically in cahoots with the Western Church : not once do we see Ashe, before the relevant chapters, express doubts about the Central Church given what happened to Christope or call Rhea a fraud, or worse, give shit to Dedue and Cyril because they are foreigners and Lonato's Western Church's teachings promote xenophobia.

I can't either see the Dominics, Fraldarius or Gautiers have sort of doubt regarding the CoS, given how in Houses, both Rodrigue and Matthias petition Rhea's CoS to help them solve domestic issues - if they were following the Western Church's doctrine, they'd never ask her or, and I know only Dedue has a line remotely alluding to it, those families would never entrust their heirs and the Kingdom's prince to the Central Church, if they had any doubts about their legitimacy, or thought they were involved with the Tragedy.

And after the nonsense with their heir being hunted, I can't see the Charons being totes besties with Rufus or the Western Church supporting him - and even before that incident, again, would they have entrusted their heir to Rhea, if she was the person the Western church claims her to be?

The Kids?

Ingrid bought the "Duscur did it" spiel and Felix, despite his vitriol, would rather listen to Rodrigue's words than to the ones of the Western Church given how he doesn't seem to have any particular affinity for them. Ditto for Sylvain.

Mercie is obviously following the Central Church's teachings, and I doubt she and Annette would be the besties they are if Annette tells her that "the Church said Rhea is a heretic who should die".

Dedue apparently believes the Church would not assist Duscurians since they aren't followers of Seiros - but he should have heard this from the gossip in the castle (aka when Rufus'n'co were around, and Rufus is on the Agarthan/Western Church's side) but later learns that the central church's doctrine is different (as seen in his support with Catherine).

Nopes tries to paint Dimitri, aka the Dimitri from Faerghus Land of Chivalry (tm), as sort of "forced" to welcome refugees because "politiks", but Matthias (or Felix? I always forgot!) spells it in better words, it's not that the Church forces any alliance with the Kingdom, it's that Faerghus is going to be invaded anyways by Adrestia, so either they take the Church and their Knights in, or they remain sitting ducks while Supreme Leader wages her war of conquest.

Gilbert's train of thoughts remind Dimitri of the character he is in FE16, even in his darkest hours, as, uh, someone who would never turn a blind eye to people who need his help, especially when they are in an especially crappy situation like the CoS (including the inhabitants of the monastery, the random monks, nuns, elderly sheltered there, etc etc) - but because Nopes was meant, Doylist wise, to be a crap AU where the characters follow an Agarthan narrative and cannot be the ones they are when we play as Billy in FE16, Dimitri's basic traits were slaughtered for that AU to make sense (see the developments about Fraud and their various convos).

So AG (and Nopes in general) spends some time depicting Faerghus be a bit sus about Rhea's faction, because it's Nopes where the pivotal maxim of this verse is pushed to its paroxysm, even if nothing in the game, let it be through the maps, gameplay, convos between characters or even flavor text, give any credence to those doubts.

And yet, imo, they must exist, otherwise we cannot have the golden "but they could have been friends!" sort of conversation from Zahrofl, or Dimitri not dismissing Fraud from the get-go, let it be in AG or even GW (where apparently, he believes Fraud's words even as the dude trounced through his land and killed his allies for no plausible reason).

IIRC @maelor321 (hi btw!) mentionned that it'd make sense if the Kingdom was torn between followers of the Central Church and followers of the Western Church : while I think the game wanted to depict this situation, albeit with as much care as they give about Abysskeeper's love life, it feels like only part of the Kingdom's lords follow the Western Church (the western lords, aka the ones who are the most willing to sleep with Adrestia?) whereas the rest is more like "following" to different degrees the doctrine preached by the Central Church.

Last night when I was talking about how Ashe’s paralogue, where he goes at the Western Church for using Lonato, gets built upon in his support with Catherine, showing how he shouldn’t be fighting for Edelgard if the two are that linked. Admittedly, I forgot you only needed one unit in order to have the paralogue and said it wasn’t available if Edelgard was in the party. My bad.

But the thing is, looking at the support there’s the matter of Christophe’s execution. The official story of the Church is that he was involved with the Tragedy of Duscur and was executed alongside others from the Kingdom for it. In reality it was the Western Church told him Rhea needed to die and he trusted them, but if we look at what the Church’s story is... the Church put the assassination of King Lambert on Kingdom nobility, and we do know from later in the game that Western lords actually were involved with it, including the guy who orders the subjugation of the people of Duscur. Not the people of Duscur.

But at the same time, according to the Shadow Library the Western Church criticize the Central Church, blaming the Tragedy on the Knights of Seiros. That is was Rhea’s people who killed Lambert. I know the stuff in the Shadow Library may be forgeries, but this was the same document that mentions TWSITD by NAME, indicates that the evidence against Glouchester over the death of Claude’s uncle is a bit too convenient and could have pushed the country to war. It really does seem legit, and show that the Knights do investigate what’s happening in Fodlan just like Jeralt did regarding the events of White Clouds.

So while the Kingdom, led by the people who assassinated Lambert, is blaming the people of Duscur, the, the Western Church, being manipulated by TWSITD, blames Rhea and tried to have her assassinated, and we have Rhea blaming the knights and nobility of the Kingdom in order to hide the assassination attempt and is the only one blaming those who were actually involved in it.

But here’s what my mind picked up on. Remember how the Lions treat the Church with suspicion in Azure Gleam? The Church does nothing and even helps people suffering from the war, including the people of Duscur, but the Lions keep giving these lines about it. It would make sense if, considering the statements of the Western Church, they likely heard the sect claim that the Central Church werre the ones behind Duscur. For Ingrid and Felix, it might be they’re with the people who had Glenn killed. Ashe knows they executed Christophe, and then you have Dimitri.

Dimitri, who went to Garreg Mach to investigate. Sure, he found records pointing to something changing about Volkhard and implicating the Empire, but why go to Garreg Mach for those when there would be other avenues to investigate? But if the Western Church is saying that Rhea was involved, and she’s running a school he could attend, Dimitri going to the academy makes sense.

Dimitri’s hands are tied working with them politically in Hopes without solid evidence, and he doesn’t seem to disagree with Claude killing Rhea either in GW and wishes he could be like Claude. It’s only really in AG, when Dimitri knows who was involved, that it really seems off in this light.

✦. tags — SPOILERS, fluff, dadgirl kenji, kenji sato x reader, i have not written in several months, i wrote this w my brain off ( ´͈ ᗨ `͈ ) aka i was just SPITTING whatever brain rot came to mind

I imagine Kenji to be the clingy, but doesn’t want to be type. He loves you, so much, so dearly. But affection isn’t his strong suit, especially not after what happened with his family. He shut out emotions for years, at least towards others. So this feeling of love, a nostalgic one, tends to clash with the walls he’s put up. He’ll hold you in his arms, burying his face in your shoulder, only for hours later to cringe at himself. He’s talked to you about it a thousand times, and he’s listened to you reassure him twice as many. He adores your patience with him, it's something he’s never really had.. especially with so much pressure on his shoulders.

Explaining his identity was surely no easy feat, you thought dating the most iconic and popular baseball players was the hardest thing? Imagine dating Ultraman, who came home to you every other week with some new injury. You always wondered why the reason was so simple for such a complicated wound, “I spilled boiling water on myself,” He explains with burn marks that are far more severe than expected. “I fell down the stairs”, he’ll say after landing in the hospital.. It didn’t make sense. And now that it does and you know the true reasons, your concern is far worse. Though he doesn’t mind the extra attention you give. ;)

Meeting his dad for the first time was.. nerve-wracking. You know how Kenji talks about him, and you weren’t sure what kind of impression you’ll make. But here you were, sitting on a couch and fiddling with your thumbs until you hear a doorbell. Before Kenji could even stand, you rushed to your feet and practically sprinted for the door, only to open it slowly and gently to reveal the kind old man standing outside. “Hello.” Cut to maybe an hour later, you’re laughing at old pictures of Kenji as he sits next to you and an arm wrapped around your shoulder. The two had a long path of forgiveness and understanding ahead, but Kenji appreciated that you brought him and his father together.

Thought the dad was scary? Imagine his daughter. As expected, the moment you walk into the room - distress. Emi’s starting to cry, an unfamiliar presence is in the room and it scares her. You’ve done a few babysitting jobs here and there, and she was really just like a child. Kenji apologized for her outburst and transforms to calm her down, opening the lid and picking her up under her arms. “No no, don’t cry.” His voice soothes her, and almost immediately - she’s okay again. It’ll take a few minutes, it really isn’t long until she trusts too you. Kenji found it adorable, how you played with her so casually.. many would be terrified, and rightfully so - but to him? It just displays your kind heart. My God did he love you.

Remember first headcanon? Right, to add to that, he’s not very good at vulnerability either. He’ll love to comfort you when you cry, or hold you when you need him. But if the roles were reversed? Absolutely not. He’s uncomfortable and you can see it, one look into his eyes and it’s like looking through glass.. he hates being open about his true feelings. Even if it’s with you.. the walls he’s built for 20 years aren’t easy to break, you know? But if you’re patient, and you take your time and say the right words – he’ll crack. And like a dam breaking, the water flows in an uncontrollable wave of sadness. He’ll sob, he’ll break, and he’ll need you more than anything. He doesn’t know how to feel about breaking down, but the way you hold him in your arms and whisper sweet nothings to comfort him, he could get used to it.

But on a lighthearted note, he loves dates! Most have to be in his home, because Emi can be clingy (got it from his dad), but you don’t mind. It’s sweet, he’ll have you play baseball with her or all you do is cuddle ontop of her, it’s the cutest little thing. But other times, when you go out– it’s just the two of you. And upon special request from Kenji for Mina to babysit her while you're there, you two get alone time. and it’s everything to him. The smallest affection has his heart racing like a teenage boy again, wrapping your arm around his, holding his hand, kissing him? Goodness, you’ve got him wrapped around your finger and you don’t even know it. You and Emi are his world, and he’ll do everything to protect it. Other days, you, him, and and his father go out to the home in the woods for some personal time. You get to talk about his childhood with him and you talk about yours. There’s such a tender and unforgettable atmosphere when you’re with them. And you truly feel like you belong.

Overotectiveness, he was full of it. He’s lost so much, and all he wanted was for you to not go either. Nothing, nothing could stop his rage at the idea of you being hurt. You, Emi, anyone else important to him. He’ll take on the world for his family, and by the will of his parents he has. The pain he’s endured, the scars you scold him for so much are for you. If one threat escapes the city, that’s one likely chance he loses you. So he does everything he can to handle it. You’ve never gotten hurt, but the idea of it is enough for him to strive to be stronger.

While recovering from the explosion, you never left his side. It pained you to see him so still, lack of life. He’d usually be pacing back and forth in the room, rambling about something, and when you’d call him a nerd or dork, he'd run to you and playfully attack you with kisses. His arms around you tightly as you two would laugh your worries away, you didn’t have that privilege. You’d either laugh alone or not at all, the pain all too much. When he wakes up, best believe you’re there, and you just cry at the sight of his arms opening. You know his body is far too unstable for a hug, so you squeeze his hand. How grateful you are to feel him squeeze back.

With Mina and Emi gone, the house feels a little more lonely.. but Kenji’s adjusting. Especially because you moved in! He’s able to spend more time with you in bed since he didn’t have to tend to Emi, which was a nice plus. He woke up earlier than you (force of habit.) and he’d just.. stare. Maybe it was a little creepy, but seeing you sound asleep in his arms gave him such joy. He loved the little domestic moments he shared with you, it had him appreciating all the smaller things in life. Like sharing a meal with you, or watching movies together. You made him love the simpler aspects of living.

Marvel and Wonder Woman

@actuel-idiot is a major reason I’m writing this! They gave me the idea so the credit goes to them.

Diana has a special relationship with Captain Marvel. They’re family. Technically. But they’re family! The man has no problem treating her like one of his own, and it’s not like Diana has any of her other family in man’s world so she’ll take what she can get. The only downside is that no one knows his actual identity, including Diana. Half the people in the JL don’t even believe he has one, but when Diana asked, he confirmed he did. She hoped that one day he would share his identity with her, but for the meantime, she’d just continue to enjoy their bond.

Like, for example, Diana talks to Marvel whenever she misses Themyscira. The very first time she started missing her home was about a few weeks after the JL formed. (Marvel’s a founding member in this post)

WW: “Captain, do you ever miss home?”

Marvel: “Hm? I guess so?” *confused*

WW: “You guess so? Do you not miss Olympus? I assume that’s where you grew up.”

Marvel: “Oh, no. I’ve never been to Olympus. If that’s what you mean by home. It isn’t.”

WW: “Then where is your home?”

Marvel: “Well, I haven’t had a home in a long time. So, I can’t particularly say. All I know is that I can’t go back, and as the years go by, I hate to say it but I barely remember it.” He only knows what his dad looks like due to his Marvel form, and he only remembers his mom due to Mary’s form. As for what they were like? A lot of the memories are fuzzy. “So, unfortunately… there isn’t really much to miss.”

WW: “Do you think I’ll forget about Themyscira?”

Marvel: “I don’t know. But that’s why it’s important to make a home wherever you go. That, and if you really don’t wanna forget, you can always try and find people who used to call your home theirs.” *shrugs*

WW: “I don’t believe there are any other Amazonians and man’s world.”

Marvel: “Well… not technically.” *little smile* “You know, a few thousand years ago I was an Amazonian at some point.”

WW: “What…?”

Marvel: “Shocking. I know.” *little laugh*

WW: “But you’re a man?” *dumbfounded expression*

Marvel: “Yeah, I know, but I wasn’t always. If you want, I could tell you some stuff about the first island.”

WW: “The first Themyscira? You were alive back then?”

Marvel: “Yup.”

WW: *stares for a bit* “I’d… I’d like that a lot. Please share.”

The two spend the rest of the evening talking about all the lore about Themyscira, Diana’s mother, Diana’s aunts, the culture back then, the dialects, and so on.

Then, there was the incident with Circe. She had cast a spell on Diana, turning her into a child. After it had happened, she left and soon a mini Diana was swarmed by the leaguers.

Marvel: “Wait, so she still knows who we all are, she’s just a little kid?”

Batman: *nods head* “Correct.”

WW: *looking around as the other leaguers fawn over her cause she’s adorable*

Batman: “It also altered her mindset, making her more childish.”

WW: *spots Marvel and her eyes sparkle* “Big brother!” *runs over to Marvel and crashes into his legs hugging them*

Marvel: “Woah!” *slightly startled at her running over* “Wow, Diana, you’re still so strong.” *takes on the tone he uses to talk to Darla (aka big brother/father tone) as he leans down to pick her up*

WW: *nods head* “Yeah!”

Marvel: *moves to carry her like she’s his own daughter*

The two proceed to talk about whatever as the other JL members coo at the two looking like father and daughter. Same black hair and blue eyes. Also, Zeus was gnawing at the bars of his metaphorical cage when he saw this. His daughter was too precious. As soon as the other leaguers blinked, he took little Diana and they proceeded to go fight Mr.Mind together. They then went for ice cream afterwords. Now, they’re eating their respective cones while sitting on the edge of a building.

Marvel: “You did such a good job, Diana. That one punch at that one robot that sent it flying into three other ones was amazing.” *smiles and ruffles Diana’s hair*

WW: *giggles and licks ice cream* “Thanks, dad.”

Marvel: *pauses mid bite of ice cream* (Yes, I’m making Billy bite his ice cream)

WW: *doesn’t even realize she said that*

Zeus: “You… YOU STOLE MY DAUGHTER?!” *thunderclouds in the distance*

Billy proceeded to have to make many offerings to Zeus to make him calm down after the incident. For a week straight, he kept getting little shocks whenever he touched stuff.
