pro tip: doctors are bullshit and don't know a single thing it doesn't matter what the doctor said, informed self-diagnosis is valid.
i'm in a weird boat vaguely similar to yours RN. when i was 16 i was diagnosed with autism (after years of researching and convincing my parents to get my evaluated...). i recently had another neuropsyche evaluation, but this doctor thinks i'm not autistic and actually have something called "social pragmatic communication disorder". (nothing is official yet, i haven't gotten the paperwork. still waiting since march LOL.) anyways, this happened even though four other doctors (as well as my therapist) think i'm autistic.
you can get a second opinion, or you can do what i did and say "fuck it, doctors don't know me as well as i know myself" (which is true BTW).
Kinda hate that when talking about autism being a disability, some people only focus on the sensory part and ignore every other trait that can be disabling, or minimize those. Autism isn't only about sensory issues and these are not the only thing that make us have difficulties and be disabled.
Communication difficulties, social difficulties, difficulties with emotional regulation, rigid thinking, executive dysfunction, etc, are also traits that can be very disabling, and cause meltdowns and shutdowns, btw.
Not saying that sensory issues are not important, they are but they are not the only thing that make autism a disability.
#while these symptoms can be caused by literally any disorder#if they all occur at the same time with relatively high intensity i (personally) would strongly suspect autism#also all of my doctors think the DSM 5 merging multiple labels into ASD was a mistake. not sure if i agree...#aka they think i have aspergers but can't dx me w it bc it “doesn't exist”. it's under the ASD umbrella now literally give me my dx back >:(#sorry for dumping all this on you lol i don't know how to say things without mentioning how i relate to the situation

Dump time featuring Billie Morales aka Silly Billie
Update 2: oh! Also the first two illustrations are based on Yotsuba art!
Update: ok HC time, if you wanna know more keep reading as usual.
BILLIE SECTION
-I made Billie 5 years old.
-I’ve mentioned this before but Billie has Asperger’s.
-She didn’t talk until she was like 3 going on 4.
-Her nickname is "silly billy"
-Miles always says "how's my favorite girl in the whole wide world?" when he comes home from school on the weekends.
-Miles is a doting big brother and helps take care of her as well as connecting with her interests.
-As much as she loves her parents, she thinks the world of Miles. She's up under him the most, especially when she's over stimulated, stressed or sleepy. His heartbeat calms her.
-She has a limit to physical contact and taps when she’s ready to let go. She usually only hugs her family. Her and Ganke do hand touches instead of hugs.
-The family helps her navigate her environment and her emotions as well as socializing but never push anything that makes her uncomfortable. They always ask questions and have special routines to help her.
-A part of her routine is on Saturdays they go to the park so she can see the pigeons.
-Miles does not like pigeons, but tolerates them for Billies sake.
-They also have special songs for her like "🎶when you walk across the street take ur eyes off your feet🎶" to remind her to look both ways and pay attention when walking across the street since she can get distracted easily.
-The songs they use also attach her to music. So whenever they go to ganke he plays the piano for her and they make songs up and when she hears a song she likes she starts stimming and wiggling.
-She also takes interest in drawing because she sees Miles drawing and they draw animals and watch Steve Irwin on Saturdays too.
-She doesn't understand figure of speeches so if you say "don't sweat it" she would be like "...sweat what?"
-she doesn’t show a lot of emotions unless she’s feeling something intense.
-She rarely sees Miles in superhero mode in public but when she does she just goes “SPIDER!” and smiles and he waves at her.
-Moral of this story, she is loved.
HOBIE
-He lives with his grandparents in the Bronx area (I’m not sure which side yet tho).
-He loves his grandparents very much.
-One time at a punk rock concert a wise man told him “the most punk thing to do is to take care of yourself, don’t be reliant on the system to do so, cuz they ain’t”
-He told his grandpa the following day and they had a heart to heart about it considering that Hobie was very depressed at the time.
-So with that being said, health is incredibly important to him.
-Some ppl tease him and call him “straight-edge” but it don’t bother him much.
-Hobie officially meets the other spiders when he’s 16.
-Clicks with Gwen and Miles almost immediately.
-Especially Miles, Peter always jokes and says that they were definitely brothers in their past lives.
-Gwen and Hobie bond over music.
-Gwen gets the crush first.
-But unlike Miles she’s more forward and doesn’t wait a billion years so she’s asks him out.
-Hobie says yes.
-Only one that knows how to drive by the time he’s 18.
OTHER STUFF
-Gwen’s relationship with her father just…never gets better in my AU. He’s just an ass and as far as Gwen is concerned they’re not family, they’re just related. With that being said, although it’s never acknowledged, Gwen definitely sees Peter as a father figure in her life. She even has him as her top emergency contact. Peter started to understand this when she was 16, he never questioned it and sees her as his oldest daughter. When she’s had really bad arguments with her father she goes to Peters and spends the night.
-Peter and MJ’s home is open to all the spiderkids. No questions asked.
-Peter and MJ always say “On our taxes we have one kid” when people ask them how many kids they have.
-When Peter gets home he sees how many pairs of shoes are at the door then yells “how many kids are in the house?" They usually yell in response which gives him an idea as to how many kids are there.
-On average there’s no less than 2.
-One time he asked and a really deep voice responded along with the kids.
-It was Venom.
-All the spiders have their own therapist’s but every other weekend there’s a group therapy session for kids with powers funded by S.H.E.I.L.D. It’s not required that they go but it’s open for them regardless, just sign up and come in.
-Ganke donates some of his legos to the program and helps assist sometimes with running it since it’s not ran in the best shape.
-This connects to a bigger problem of helping hero’s with their mental health and stability, especially when they decide to retire.
-If you read the other AU list I had, this is the reason why Ganke switches his major to Social Work when he goes to college.
NICKNAMES
Peter’s nicknames for the kids:
Miles-“Junior/Little Man”
May-“Mayday”
Gwen-"Gwennie Pie”
Ganke-“Goober”
Hobie-“Hobie” (obviously)
Anya-“Ani”
Ganke’s nicknames:
Friends-“Gee” judge calls him “G-money”
Miles’s mom-“Honey”
Ganke’s mom-“Gee-Chan”
The boy that bullies him AKA Sean “Gay-ke”
Peter-“Goober” (as I’ve said before)
Venom and Eddie-“Boy”
Miles’s for when he’s feeling affectionate-“Cariño”
Anyway that’s all I got for now! If you have any questions about my AU please feel free to ask away. I love talking about it as you can see.

It's hard being Kankri Vantas. It's hard, and nobody understands. It's hard because you have aspergers which kind of puts a wrench in your want to get people to understand. It's hard having aspergers. It's hard, not only because of the point previously mentioned, but because it sounds like ass burgers. It's a pain in the ass burger to have aspergers. It's a pain, and whoever named it that is a dick.

Am I the only one here who thinks that Anne would be amazing at flirting?
Like, probably the best out of the Calamity Trio?
I'm not saying this just because Anne has the thai rizz coupled with the black woman swag, though it's undeniable the fact that adult Anne is objectively hot; I'm talking about her education, references, personality type and attitude.
In other words I'm talking about her mother.
That woman is not a girlfailure, and even if I doubt that Anne has inherited even half of her mother's pull up skills (though I doubt she ever even used them. Her husband definitely was the one who pulled up on her first, and accidentally, yet again proving the fact that Anne has attractiveness in her genes and running through her veins), Miss Boonchuy definitely taught her daughter how to swing at someone, even if romance wasn't the main thing being learnt here, and beyond that, there's still enough evidence to tell that if Anne ever seriously tried to pull up on anyone, aka the girls, she would have the easiest time in the world.
Genuinely, the only thing probably impeding her parents hooking up was their obliviousness, which Anne inherited as well.
Marcy is an autistic idiot (affectionate), she wouldn't want to flirt with any of the other girls because she doesn't consider them as an option; in her mind, she has already labelled them as friends, so it's impossible for her to also date them at the same time. She would have the hardest time out of any member of the Amphibia cast, due to a combination of an inability to pick up social cues, a lack of an interest for romance (I'm not in the aromantic Marcy crowd), and a lack of any rizz whatsoever that isn't coming from the Asperger's syndrome.
Sasha.... Oh boy. You've seen her in the second half of the third season, right? Girl was downbad (fan's head canon) for Anne and was passively sabotaging her plans for her. Sure, she's a tough tomboy, but I doubt that if she ever started dating someone she would be able to use her smarts and brawns to good use.

My Headcanons about L from my fanfic November 8th, 1997:
- L's eyes are actually grey. They are drawn black but in the anime there's a lighter outer ring, and I liked the idea of him having incredibly dilated pupils from being "stoned" from excessive glucose and caffein intake (a reference to Sherlock Holmes drug addition). Also, I've drawn "not so stoned L" and he's such a cutie! Might draw him again.
- He has almost no eyebrows nor eyelashes from rubbing his eyes too much because he never sleeps.
- He's canonically 1/4 English, 1/4 Japanese, 1/4 Russian and 1/4 Italian or French. Therefore in my fic he used to live with his mother (half Italian/half Russian), an alcoholic, and had a caring Italian great-aunt, who had married a Frenchman. On Sundays, his great-aunt brought him to gramps and granny. Gramps was an Italian soldier sent to Russia during WWII who escaped and was saved by a Russian farmer girl. Since L also canonically "stayed in England" for five years and entered Wammy's House only at 8, it made sense to me that his maternal grandparents would be immigrants in the US.
- He is neurodivergent, in my mind has Asperger's, and as a child he couldn't understand other people's emotions, reactions and feeling. His auntie got him psychology books (she used to be a teacher so she really encouraged him a lot) to help him understand people better, and he became so obsessed than after that he started reading books on cryminal psychology, because "normal people" minds had started becoming boring.
- He has sensory issues, and the ones linked to food have a double take. On one hand he loves sweets because he wasn't allowed to eat them, so when he discovered them he became obsessed (I'm picturing Tim Burton's Willy Wonka as a child during Halloween, I even wrote a one-shot about it). On the other hand, he can't stand "normal" food because to him it tastes like ash, because his mother would tap her cigarette in his dish while he was still eating, telling him that it was taking him too much time to eat (he already had a hard time eating in general).
- He has a strong sense of personal space (except, apparently, with Light, as we can see in-canon) and dislikes touch (except with Misa's ass in-canon, If I may add). But, as I ponted out, those rules don't apply to everyone 👀👀👀
- Also has OCD, and when he didn't live with Watari (aka Alfred Pennyworth) he used to clean and do laundry because everything had to be exactly as he expected. I also picture him wasting days to decorate a Christmas tree because it needs to be perfectly symmetrical and balanced.
- Speaking of house chores, he would also love cooking (his Italian blood showing), and used to do it often to remember his gramps and auntie who he liked very much.
- I pictured Wammy's House as an academy for gifted people which at a certain point has been funded by Thatcher government to train spies or detectives for the Cold War. L would rather be a detective than a spy, but has the necessary training, if needed. (Other OCs of mine instead went full bounty hunter/undercover agent, notably J and K. Mello would also be in spy program while Near would be in detective program).
- I liked the idea of having Watari older. A child soldier himself who served during WWII in the SAS (and he met Sir Christopher Lee!). I imagine Watari having good intentions with his academy for orpahned and gifted children, but he just couldn't understand what children in time of peace need. Or what they need in general. But then he grew attached to L and spoilt him without shame.
- L has endured a trauma which has caused him to regress at an infant stage. He used to be less hunched over and more athletic but he started feeling too overwhelmed and has worn out over the years. The clothes he wears were the same he had on the day of that traumatic event, and I pictured him moving towards the darkness, hand in pocket, day after day, growing more and more scrawny and curled up on himself (I should draw some panels for this!).
- He Falls First. But won't realize it because as much as he has studied psychology he's too arrogant to understand his own feelings.
- He's pansexual, and poly. I mean, he found Misa hot and we've all seen how obsessed he was with Light in-canon. I picture him being very open on those matters.
- ... and would be kinky af in bed. 💀 There I've said it.
Edit to add
- Tennis players have a hell of a physique. Just imagine L if he ate and sleep like a normal person and trained like a professional tennis player 👀👀👀👀

Yesss Slytherin gang 🐍🐍🐍 your interests make you sound so cool goddamn. I’ve been seeing so much Sherlock content on tumblr recently but I’ve never actually watched or read anything to do with the franchise. So this is an open invitation for you to info dump about Sherlock lol. I hope you’re having a good day!
Hello! Hope you're having an amazing day too!
Thank you so much! That really brightened my day 💕
As a lot of people know, I am the biggest Sherlock fan you will ever meet... Probably.
I love the case books, the mangas... But what I love most is BBC Sherlock. It has my heart forever. So here's some random things to know.
People in the Sherlock fandom love to ship Sherlock and John. Usually people don't get it, but you have to watch the show for the ship to make sense.
Sherlock's full name is William Sherlock Scott Holmes in BBC. COOL!
Sherlock's favourite colour is pink. PINK! <3
The Reichenback Fall is a part where Sherlock actually dies, but people loved him so much that Arthur Conan Doyle had to actually bring him back. 😭 (This is book lore)
He has bipolar, Asperger's Syndrome and I'm pretty sure he has Autism.
The only person to beat Sherlock was Irene Adler, aka The Woman, aka dominatrix which if you didn't know, means someone who likes to me the dominating one in... Well... I'm sure you can see where this is going. I didn't know this, I googled it :')
And yeah I could go on but those are some favourites of mine. Thanks for the fun ask! ❤️

How to be a more interesting character than the Main Hero (Pt.3)
Shangjue and his didi (pt.2/2)
Yuanzhi wants to save Shangjue from any kind of pain so badly, and not only because he feels guilt for brother's loss, but also because he is able to see brother's true personality: Shangjue is an invisible root of Gong tree.
When an assassin and didi have a conversation in the final part of the drama, she says that there are people, in front of whom Shangjue could be vulnerable, but Yanzhi smirks and says that the Martial World won`t allow it. And it happens to be true: he knows that Shangjue’s fiancée is an assassin and he knows that, no matter how much Shangjue is into her, she would not hesitate to kill him if she had a chance, so Shangjue`s soft spot for something (such as a woman he likes) would be his doom. But he needs to look invincible, because the whole clan counts on him and relies on him.
Because Shangjue is a root of Gong clan, everyone sees only thriving and green branches and beautiful flowers (which are wealth, power and secure of Gong clan), but no one sees that it wouldn`t be possible without a root, strong yet hidden under the soil (aka one hardworking man).
I often find the fate of Shangjue's type of heroes very unfair: a person unnoted takes care of everyone and is rewarded at the end only with sufferings and death. But this story is different, because Shangjue has got his didi, who doesn't care about world but eagerly takes care of him while he takes care of anything else. This scene was the second one during the drama that upset me a lot. I spoiled myself some shots of Yuanzhi crying over brother's body and I was sure he would die because he isn't fluffy and spotless enough to stay alive in Chinese drama. Fortunately, he didn't:
It works vice versa, too:
Yuanzhi is, I suppose, coded as someone like Asperger: he is kinda genius, he preferred insects and plants to people as he was a child, he couldn`t understand why people cry and felt uncomfortable with someone`s touching (he slipped out of Shangjue’s grip when Shangjue took his hand). And Shangjue did a great job socializing him.
Being an adolescent, Shangjue hadn`t problems with feeling expression. Things Shangjue taught his didi in a flashback are the opposite to those the Main Hero’s mum taught MH and to those Shangjue believes now. Shangjue told Yuanzhi that a man should cry because in that case someone would understand one's woe and this sympathizing could help to recuperate one's soul, but now he never cries in front of someone. However, Yuanzhi learned his lesson well and isn`t embarrassed to express his feelings freely.
I found this scene very weird (if not taking into account that the flower is obviously a red herring): the Main Hero and Shangjue both fancy girls, while didi fancies a magic flower. But later, as I finished the drama, I understood: didi fancies Shangjue the most. The unique and almost extinct flower isn`t some treasure for him, it matters only that this flower can save Shangjue`s life and increase his inner powers. The previous one was taken away from Shangjue, and Shangjue allowed it to happen, because his needs didn`t matter to him compared to prosperity of his clan. (Later, as we know, it was spent in vain by a villain, which made me feel terribly sorry for Shangjue). But his didi values him enough to try to take care of him once more (and for this time he has planted more than one, in order something would end up in Shangjue’s hands even if clansmen would need this flower, too. How smart of his!). And I like that his love is not in vain – Shangjue loves him, too, and believes him in any situation, and that warms my heart. I love their relationship a lot.
And the most vivid feeling that he freely demonstrates is a jealousy towards Shangjue’s fiancée (btw, I like that Shangjue understands it and pardons his tantrums):
"Go ahead, tell me what's on your mind." *opens his mouth to start talking* "Well, rather don`t. I can see it on your face." *smiles*
So, in the part 4 I will talk about Shangjue and her. Shangjue. Introduction Shangjue and his didi, Pt. 1 Shangjue and his fiancee

TMBW-Tan is an AI specifically designed to become the ultimate encyclopedia, able to gather and recite all the world’s information…however, her creators messed up the code for certain parts, which caused her programming to be too monotropic! The first thing she heard when she came to life was the TMBG song “Birdhouse in your Soul” playing in a different tab, and she was immediately smitten…while this malfunction caused her creators to disregard her, she’s made it her mission to become the ultimate TMBG encyclopedia AI!! Ever since February 25th 2003, she’s traveled the web in search of any and all TMBG information. She takes the form of a cute anime girl, and TMBW.net is like her library + home! She loves to guide people through the website and talk about the band whenever she can…whenever someone contributes to the wiki, she not only (hypothetically) jumps for joy, she also gets smarter!!
To be specific, TMBW Tan is a fan made anime style anthropomorphic mascot for the website tmbw.net, aka “This Might Be A Wiki: The They Might Be Giants Knowledge Base.” She’s inspired by characters like Wikipe-Tan, LMW-Tan, and all those OS-Tan characters based off of operating systems!!
(She is not a real AI chatbot, just a little character. I want to make that clear!)
-> more character info
Hight: 16 Canaries Tall or 5”4
Birthday: 2/25
Age: Ageless, but bodily she appears to be 14-16 years old
MBTI: ENFP
Voiceclaim: Vocaloid4 Yuzuki Yukari (Jun)
Fun Facts (still being added to!)
She’s autistic coded!!! John Linnell once made a (thankfully playful/inoffensive) joke about how TMBG fans spending so much time doing things like contributing to the TMBW is “Kind of an Asperger’s thing” …Asperger’s being a now defunct term for autism spectrum disorder!! Her coding is a big part of her character lol…I want you to take a big fat guess as to what TMBW Tan’s special interest is ;D
While she loves all TMBG songs, she will always have a soft spot for Birdhouse in your soul. Some people even speculate she’s rigging the Song Rating chart to keep it at number one…
She’s pals with both of the Johns, and enjoys talking to/advising Flansburgh while he makes setlists for shows. They have an uncle-niece relationship (Linnell’s kinda totally freaked out by her though…)
She has a strong love for William Allen White, and always keeps a picture of him in her pocket.
It’s rumored that, if you stay on the site long enough, you can faintly hear her singing..!!

I've started to notice two types of shitty autism parenting and i wanna talk about it though it might be pretty generalizing
tw for overall shitty parents, emotional neglect.
type A: the denial parent
aka the "refuse to acknowledge that their perfect little child is in fact autistic". they will constantly go on and on about how "mild" and perfectly "normal" they are and "not like those autistics"
they completely see autism/disability as a bad thing and even the word itself is dirty to them, so they'll use every other term but those two like "special, superpower, aspie ("they have aspergers not autism!") etc etc. constantly whenever their child's autism is brought up around others, will feel the need to compensate for it, like bringing up their achievements and things they can do, whether that'd be how they have a job, got into a good school etc. as if autistic people can't do that. because they refuse to acknowledge any of the child's weaknesses or flaws, they will never actually do anything to help them, might even scold them for this.
no one needs to compensate for anything, nor feel any shame for just straight up being who they are, this goes for everyone but especially neurodivergent/disabled ppl. not to go psychoanalyze anyone but many autistic ppl i've meet with these kinds of parents/ or just in general share the same view points mentioned, just always end up having so much built of rage, self hatred and completely lack any self acceptance.
type b: hopeless/self-pity parent
usually the parent of a early diagnosed autistic child, whom almost immediately after being diagnosed just straight up gives up on them. "oh well, what can i do..." *proceeds to emotionally neglect and refuse to raise their child*
like type a, they see autism as a bad thing, something that will forever just be forced to deal with. despite acknowledging their child's diagnosis, it's not acceptance, not at all. often you'll hear them talk about how hard it is for them personally, basically searching for pity points despite never actually putting any effort into being their for their kid. even worse, if the parent has another children who are neurotypical, they will VERY clearly treat them a lot better than their neurodivergent one.
these kinds of parents never actually put any effort in growing close with their autistic kid, like they're needs, what they like doing etc, so when they do act out because of their needs never being met, instead of trying to understand or help them they just go "it's their autism"
parents like this often from the outside gain a lot of pity from other parents, because to them the child is just acting out for no other reason than them being autistic and that's just something their parent simply "can't" do anything about it! (news flash: they can!)
ofc you can't get rid of your child's autism, it's simply just a part of them, however that doesn't mean that child doesn't need to raised or giving support like idk every other child? big fucking surprise of but autism isn't the reason your child is violent or an asshole. you neglecting their emotional needs and rather spending all your time complaining does! i understand it can be hard to raise/take care of someone who's autistic, hell it's hard in general to raise any kid, but my sympathy falls flat when instead of trying help you just blame everything on their autism.
though just wanna say that, most parents i've met who fall under this catagory, i wouldn't consider emotionally neglect or abusive to that severe of an extent. i have however noticed a pattern of parents who despite their child being diagnosed, just never actually put any effort into learning about it or understanding their child? aka basically gives up. they usually only listen to what professionals / ppl who work with autistic ppl have to say about their child, which can be very harmful since those people (in my experience) 80% of the time have no clue what they are even talking about.

Explaining my banner

[Image ID: White text in a Galaxy background reads If you: Derail my posts; are an “aspie”; run a sh/ed blog; are under 16; are a TERF; think cripplepunk is for mental disabilities; think that autism isn’t a disability; are pro-transabled, trace, transage, etc; are pro-map or pro-zoo; are a transmed; want to completely demedicalize autism, I will probably block or mock you. End ID]
General
This isn’t a DNI. I don’t think that DNIs actually work, and I don’t really care about DNIs if the other person is directly spouting bigoted crap (otherwise I’ll respect them).
On that note, anyone can interact with my stuff. This is just a warning about what will happen if you do.
I reserve the right to be a dick, asshole, and/or rude to anybody who falls under those categories (except for under 16). If you’re a bigot I’m gonna treat you like one.
Specific meanings
If you don’t know what I mean by one of the items on this list, look here. They will be listed in order.
Derail my posts: basically, if you try to make my post into something that it’s not, I will not be polite about it. Example here.
Are an “aspie”: this refers to people who reference themselves as being an “aspie” or as having Aspergers syndrome. Learn why this is bad here. As a moderate-high support needs autist descended from Holocaust and Inquisition survivors, this is triggering and I will probably block you for my mental peace.
Run an sh/ed blog: (tw) this refers to blogs that are about self harm and/or eating disorders. These are incredibly harmful to everyone involved. I will block you.
Are under 16: I am 20 years old. I do not feel comfortable interacting with young teens, especially since I post a lot of sexual references, and cursing. I will not mock anyone for their age; this falls under the “block” category.
Are a TERF: this stands for Trans Exclusive Radical Feminist. Basically, this is about anybody who is transphobic in the name of protecting women’s rights. Honestly this applies to any transphobe. I WILL mock you into oblivion.
Think cripple punk is for mental disabilities: cripplepunk (aka cpunk) is a movement specifically for physically disabled people. It is not about people who are mentally disabled only, without physical disabilities. Cripples deserve our own communities. Read more here.
Think that autism isn’t a disability: autism is inherently disabling, going by the criteria of autism and the definition disability. To say otherwise is both misinformation and a denial of the lives experiences of higher support needs autistic people. Read more here.
Are pro-transabled, trace, transage, etc: these people appropriate the perfectly valid idea of being transgender, thinking that you can identify with a different race or ethnicity than you are (aka trace or transrace) a different age than you are (transage) a disability that you don’t have (transabled), or others. I will mock you relentlessly.
Are pro-map or pro-zoo: MAP stands for minor-attracted person, aka a pedophile. Zoo is short for zoophile, which is a person attracted to animals. These people are their supporter are absolutely disgusting.
Are a transmed: a transmed, or transmedicalist, believe at the very least that you need gender dysphoria to be transgender. Some are more extreme, believing that you need to meet the clinical criteria for gender dysphoria or that you need to medically transition in order to be trans. This does not refer to trans people who simply want to medically transition.
Want to completely demedicalize autism: this is a bit complicated and I may make a post about this later. Generally though, it refers to people who view autism as not a disorder but as a purely innocuous, net neutral or positive, “just another neurotype”. They want to remove autism from the psychiatric or medical fields entirely as they believe it is not about deficits in cognitive function. This is entirely false.
Ok that’s it. If you want to learn more about the specifics you can click on the links provided or Google them.

Reflecting on my favorites
Now that I've semi-retired from writing (for now, anyway), I thought I'd compile a list of my favorite books & characters I've written. Why? I don't know. to inspire myself? To cheer myself up? Whatever the case, I felt compelled.
Books:
The Darker Ages - Just a damn good time to write, and meaningful too. I'm not sure this will ever be dethroned. I peaked too soon.
School for Spirits - I love all the books in this series, almost equally. I love writing in this universe and would be sad to see it end.
Palace of Maids aka Cowboys & Elves - I stubbornly love this one, despite its mixed reception. It's so vulgar and violent -- I think that's why it wasn't so digestible to people. But I love it anyway.
The Ugly Monster Matchmaker Company - the only Caylen McQueen (my other pen name) book on my list. It's just so wholesome, with such a likeable cast. I adore Becky and Groop.
The Wishing Princess - Again, I just really like this cast... especially mad mode Prince Fared and the shady romantic, King Nils. And the concept is unique, I think.
Favorite Characters:
Alfred du Bois. I made trailer for Darker Ages and almost cried when I "saw" Alfred. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zlna3EAXJk4 (he is based on Alfred Enoch, btw, and his AI trailer self resembles him so much). I love quippy characters, and I love anti-heroes. Alfred's my favorite of them all.
Carol from Belles & Bullets. Again, this is the only Caylen entry on the list. Alas, she doesn't even appear until Sky Pirate, book 3. I just love her for being completely wacky & hilarious.
Crow from A Farm Boy in Oz. I felt randomly compelled to reread some of her lines the other day. She's still TOO hilarious to me. I'm not even that funny in real life, so I don't know where these humorous ladies come from. Reading her lines, I almost felt inspired to write again. Almost.
Vineet from School for Spirits: Pretty Dead Girl. He's my definition of the adorable nerd. I love him so much.
Daniul, the persnickety asexual OCD mage from The Black Knight Chronicles series. I think he probably has Asperger's or something. (I think I probably do too)
I'm almost embarrassed by the number of books I wrote between 2016-2023. I was so desperate to accomplish my dream, to no avail. I'm not famous, or even that successful. I'm living proof that manifestation doesn't always work. Just sayin'. 😅

A double feature post for a double feature day
(aka my thoughts on this week's So Help Me Todd and the Elsbeth premiere other than I wish both those shows a long and happy runtime together as they're perfect for each other #renewsohelpmetodd #sohelpmetodds3)
So Help Me Todd
Is it just me or was Susan the only chick with good fashion game this episode as you had Margaret and her giant bow on her shirt, Francey's neon pants, Belinda's consistently obnoxious pattern-mixing and even Alex's weird sleeves and for Margaret and Francey (idr about Alex) this wasn't their first fashion offense (yeah there's Allison but she just kinda dresses normal)
Speaking of aesthetics, I repeat again that Lyle's mustache needs to die. My mom who I watch SHMT with says if he had to have facial hair a goatee might work but not this.
I feel like Belinda was intended to be a similar kind of dramatic-foil to Margaret that Todd is to Lyle
So Heather Morris finally shows up...and she's basically playing the Cassandra Cillian to Todd's Ezekiel Jones, interested to see where this goes
Love that Margaret's almost-Mary-Poppins-level-full-of-stuff purse was a Chekhov's Gun
I hate to paraphrase a meme but what da forensic accountant doin'? Is Alex up to no good, is she trying to mess with Beverly the way Beverly's seemingly doing to the entire firm, or is the truth far more complicated
But if she is genuinely a good guy I'm kinda rooting for Lylex, it seems like such a super cute vibe
Elsbeth
If this is truly metaphorically the genderbent Columbo, Tumblr should be all over this
We're barely into the intro-showing-the-crime and Mom's already critiquing the murderer by saying things like would they check to see what's in her system and what suicidal person (like what he's trying to give the impression of) googles "how to commit suicide"
Intro-to-episode/show-proper with the hip hop tour bus setting the tone nicely I see for what's to come
Not saying Elsbeth has any particular neurodivergencies unless she's been canonically diagnosed with anything (though if this show goes on for as long as I'd like it to, if there's enough of a case for anything in particular they could have an adult-diagnosis arc like I'm hoping So Help Me Todd might have if it goes on for as long as I'd like with Todd with ADHD or Lyle or Lawrence with autism) but I have the kind of autism some people call aspergers and some call high-functioning autism as well as Inattentive Type ADHD that used to be called ADD and I've never felt so "seen" by a "quirky crime-solver character" in my life
On the one hand sucks about the giant gap until start proper on the other hand now I have time to binge The Good Wife
Maybe it's just my particular neurodivergencies but the one thing I hated is is a howdunnit supposed to make you internally yell at the TV
I like that what appears to be going to be her cop-partner-person is a woman of color as seeing a female-female lead team in a crime show like this is about as rare as having one where the quirky outsider person is a woman no matter what their partner is
Unless I misheard something did Captain Wagner seriously threaten to shoot Elsbeth if she didn't stay in her lane or w/e, if the mythology's going to involve him being corrupt that better get addressed

Once again, picking at your brain for your thoughts
What’re your reasons/ideas behind your top hc’s for Bro
i'm brain dead right now after a full shift so let me give you the long short list and a more general explanation of my general fascination with this guy
the basis of my takes and hcs on bro stem from approaching him and viewing him as a person who is flawed and wrong and misguided, but a person and not a generic one faced boogeyman. he is an abuser, he has a lack of boundaries and he has violent tendencies, but i don't look at it in a vacuum because unlike dave who's only ever seen what bro allowed him to see, we can look at him as a whole.
i picked him up a couple years ago in a group roleplay server, mainly as a "i don't trust anyone else to write him/haha wouldn't it be funny if" and since then he's been living rent free in my head - but he's out grown what canon gave us.
and the fundamentals of that are:
0 | SPITE, DISGUST AND FRUSTRATION: he is a fascinating character in his own right, but goddamn is he polarising and one prone to settle in the extremes of fandom perception to the point that people have to fucking tag him as a trigger warning nowadays, which makes people unwilling to interact and engage in more nuanced discussions of him out of avoidance of being harassed which is understandable. however this kind of left him as a character to the wolves, and now a lot of his more recent works and his entire tag in general in whatever site you use has been trashed by incestuous pedophiles - which makes people even less wiling to interact with the concepts brought up in his character. and honestly fuck that. i'm willing to endure dealing w their bullshit directly n i'm willing to call these people what they are (groomers sharing csa material for personal gratification and desensitisation) and i'm not giving them free reign of bro's tag anymore. these freaks should be rightfully shunned and mocked and judged where ever they go because they're too deep in self-denial to ever change.
I | EXTRAPOLATION: with alpha dirk's introduction we were left with a question, how could this kid end up like his beta session self? what could possibly drive the dirk we grow to like and see multiple facets of become this shell of a man? and boy do i love assuming and explaining shit away for people who are barely characters in their own right. free reign to do whatever i want baby.
II | BRAIN DAMAGE: the answer to that question is to chip away at the soul and to scramble a man's sense of reality. i haven't really been in the headspace for it but id love to one day fully explore the horrors of Bro and Lil Cal's codependency for those 30 some years. with that as a base (but not an excuse) i started to slowly piece him back together, and working with the 'undesirables' of mental illness. he is an unmedicafed paranoid schizophrenic with hoarding tendencies who was diagnosed with aspergers as a child... and then punished for it, being effectively abandoned by the system to fates whims and blamed for never having his needs met. his one solid connection at any point in time was lil cal. but instead of villanizing him for having these traits... i see him as someone who was trying to help, but was misguided by his closest confidant and blinded by his over controlling paranoid nature and compulsory need to one up people. everything bro did, he did to help dave... he just never stopped to think about if he was going about it the right way, because he saw dave as an extension of himself and thus of course thought his behaviour was appropriate, because he is acting as who he wished he had when he himself was a kid.
III | PROJECTING AND RELATABILITY: damn he just like me fr. aka on top of all of that, i've grown to attach some of my own traits onto him and vice versa as a means of coping with my own backstory and as a backwards way of acknowledging that my feelings are valid... by allowing bro strider of all people to also go through them and changing myself to have compassion for him.
there's more but look i forgot and m done eating my cold burger.

The book Grace is reading while Tommy's on a date in 3x14 is The Highly Sensitive Child by Elaine N. Aron. This isn't a book specifically about autistic children, but it is definitely one with content that applies to nearly all autistic kids and only some allistic ones.
So new headcanon: The book is Tommy's, because her twins are autistic, and Grace grabbed it off the shelf instead of a different one because she suspects Charlie is, too. (And Charlie definitely is because now that I think about it, I really do headcanon that Judd and Grace both are, they just need very little support - which means since Grace is a black woman she's undiagnosed, and since Judd is a white man born in most likely the 80s he got an "Asperger's" diagnosis instead of an ASD1 diagnosis and he's been told all his life it's something he grew out of (aka learned how to mask better).)

do you mean you feel alienated around self diagnosed autistic people? (aka 99% of the online autistic community) because if so I completely agree. I'm not sure if you have access to it but I go to public therapy for disabled adulta (if you're over 18) and in my group there is a bunch of autistic/adhd people. we usually talk about medication, funny stories about therapy and experiences with growing up autistic and such. it's pretty relieving, and completely different from speaking to autistic people online, which just feels like talking to neurotypicals
No I feel alienated around autistic people. And people in general. It's for a lot of reasons tbh, not JUST being autistic, but I've definitely have had grievances with the autistic community online for some time now. This is because there's this prevalent idea that what does or doesn't work for one autistic person must be true for every autistic person, which inevitably leads to alienation. I'm considered weird and offputting even by the standards of other autistic people. This isn't an uncommon experience for me.
Also, part of my alienation comes from the general politics of the online autistic community. I call myself Asperger's and high-functioning, which while I totally get why other people don't call themselves that, it's just kinda what I grew up with and what works for me. Also being trans on top of that, and hearing so many autistic people talk about how they personally don't understand gender, whereas I didn't have much of an issue with it (I view it through a strictly neuroscientific lens; I don't do well with metaphors and vague feelings). Being told I can't say "retarded" even though I've been CALLED retarded, not to mention directly threatened (I was nearly shot lmao) over being autistic. A mixture of oppression olympics among autists, and also 'higher-functioning' autistic people speaking over 'lower-functioning' autistic people. My stims also don't get represented much (I don't really flap, I've always been more of a rocker/bouncer/vocal stimmer) and I don't fit into the "good autist" role that a lot of people-- both neurodivergent and neurotypical-- want out of me. All this to not even mention how I get alienated for my other forms of neurodivergence, with people in general being extremely ableist towards those with OCD and dissociative disorders.
All I'm saying is it's not self-diagnosed autists who make my life harder. Not when me and most of my family has had to resort to self-diagnosis due to doctors not listening to us or just a simple inability to even see a doctor due to a lack of money and time. Actually, most of the people I click with are the self-diagnosed "I think I might be neurodivergent" people-- whether that's autism, ADHD, or some other various neurodivergence. The self-diagnosed people are my immediate family, as well as my friends who had to figure out they're neurodivergent because nobody else told them, or gaslit them over it. We're pro-selfdx here, and honestly therapy is the least of my concerns right now, at least when it comes to autism. I don't need therapy for being autistic. I don't need therapy to teach me how to be normal. I need therapy to teach me how to live. Y'know, tackling my ACTUALLY problematic disorders, like my severe OCD and CPTSD and what I believe to be some form of OSDD. ADHD... yeah I just need meds for that, it is what it is. But I've been in therapy SEVERAL times for my autism, with people who were supposedly specialized in it, and even they didn't really know what to do with me. So shrug lmao.
For the record I am professionally diagnosed with autism. I'm actually self-diagnosed with most of the other mental health issues I occasionally talk about here (ADHD, OCD, OSDD, et cetera). I'd LOVE to get diagnosed but we're just not in a financial situation where we can rn. I don't like throwing self-diagnosed people under the bus-- more often than not they're just trying to understand themselves and genuinely don't have the ability to access proper resources. I don't really think of the cringe "faking disorders for attention and spreading misinformation" people when I hear about self-diagnosis, personally. I think about people who have been gaslit and told either that they're weird/bad children their whole lives, or even the reverse where they're told they're gifted, before they begin to struggle and then are promptly abandoned. I went through the latter more than the former.
#anon#asks#tw r slur#this is all okay to reblog btw I'm fine with being open about my mental health#I could've been a lot meaner in this response I have some fucking choice words but tl;dr#I'm pro-self diagnosis. I wasn't bitching about self-diagnosed people. You can't thrust this onto some nebulous boogeyman.#And I don't like when people do that with my personal posts and take them as some way of validating their own opinion.#I don't like other autistic people. Other autistic people have been ableist and alienating towards me. Many of which were diagnosed.#And I don't like other people *period* because I have various other mental illnesses both related and unrelated to the trauma of growing up#in neurotypical society.#Okay? ok
