Shout out to @frogs4frogs for finding these picrews for spidersonas for shawties that can't draw! I didn't want to hop on her post with her Sona and rambles for jt, So! I made my own to ramble on lol.

This is Etta Hampton (Ezy) aka The Recluse the one and only Spiderwoman of New Tulsa on earth 9539

Etta is 17 and lives with her Uncle Barney who owns the Urban Stables that most people in North use for boarding. Etta's lived with her Uncle Barney since she was seven after the death of her parents in a mysterious OzCorp Refinery explosion. She has an army of aunties and cousins that live on the East Coast in Old York or DC.

Etta is incredibly smart, soft spoken and caring. She loves ATV or horse trail riding, welding, pottery, and botany. To the point she plans on triple majoring civil engineering, mechanical engineering and sculpture after she graduates from the Parker's Gifted Academy. Her uncle is her biggest supporter for her education and hobby pursuits and gave her her own garage/studio to work in.

Etta is best friends with the fire chief's son Bart Brown (9539's Hobie), the Bugle Radio's owner's daughter Merry Jameson ( 9539's MJ) and Harry O. (9539's green goblin who just causes more chaos over harm, absolutely hate his father) who the world fattest crush on her and she is 100% oblivious to it.

When Etta was 14 she stormed off after an argument with various of her visiting aunties about her "manish" pursuits she took her four-wheeler and went off trail to a forbidden zone that was the contamination and closed of remains of the OzCorp Refinery. While exploring the remains, Etta was bitten by a radioactive Brown Recluse when security guards had cornered her and she was forced to hide in one of the old R&D offices.

She has the usual power set for a spider person: Spidey sense, the ability to stick to walls, super strength and super agility. Along with long sharp nails that are extremely durable and sharpened canines that have a paralytic and necrotic venom. Etta has two specialty abilities: one is to produce different kinds of acid from her hands and apply it to her organic webs to create different kinds of traps or help her to escape. The other is an ability to control her temperature to the point she can send heat waves of energy off her body or stun/shock others with a fridged touch.

As the Recluse her biggest foes are Cyclone Sandman, Cotton Mouth, and King Scorpion. She has a half allyship with the for hire thief/ spy Prowler (Miles M. Davis) and Green Goblin (she usually just catches and releases with his antics) the fire chief and sheriff work well with her. In school as her regular persona her academic rival is Miles.

Etta tricked out an ATV to fit her theme and made it hover/wall fly so she can still get to places that don't have the highrises that need her help. She controls it remotely sometimes to help rescue people or lead the emergency services to a location/criminals she's taken care of. This causes her Uncle Barney to think she is a close friend of Recluse and works on her tech. He likes Recluse but is highly worried for 'both' their safeties.

The only "Canon Events" she has gone through is the death of her parents and giving up being Spiderwoman for a while after she failed to save a little boy's parents during a train derailment caused by Sandman.

Miguel sent Jess and Ben to recruit her for the Spider Society after she dealt with a Vulture variant and he worried over the fact that her Gwen Stacy event hadn't occurred yet (death of Harry in her case, his spine snaps as he is GG when she tired to stop him from plummeting after a mid-air battle) they haven't explained this to her yet. Etta tries to stay in her world but really likes collaborating on inventions with other spider-peoples and usually sticks to the R&D or repair department over missions.

Is works besties with Margo but highly distrusts Lyla. She partial mentors under Jess and let's Gwen stay in her dimension sometimes when Hobie's world is overwhelming.

Loves blooming onions and other savory snacks, it's not unusual to see her as Recluse snacking on jerky or street corn. Tamale ladies love her. Often wears overalls or jeans jackets over her spider suit. Has hella Spotify followers because her playlists are absolutely fire (even Miles admits this)

Regarding to the negative character development in Nopes. How do you consider Supreme leader's route to be worse than the original route? I wanna know your thoughts on her character and the route itself.

You mean on Supreme Bullshit?

I prefer her in CF - even if we have the "lel professor Supreme Leader was mourning you for 5 years while you were absent (and no one conveniently thought to explore that damn ravine where you fell to see if maybe you were still alive) but now that you've returned we can maybe stop being in a stalemate against Faerghus and finally roll over Derdriu!" pandering shit, because even if it came with wonderful Supreme One Liners and Replies, in CF, Supreme Leader kills her enemies herself!

Sure it comes at the cost of the most badass Shonen Explosion I've ever seen in the FE Series, and yet, for her, that explosion meant her role was ultimately reduced to the role of a mosquito : sure it's annoying and you want to smash it, but when you look around to find someone/something to smash it, you happen on an agressive venomous snake, who cares about the mosquito now?

We know how fandom is about Supreme Leader and her actions and her uwu agency - in Supreme Bullshit, we're left in the vague about what her MAGA plans entails because she doesn't finish her quest - Nopes ends before the epilogue - and it's almost as if the Nopes!devs didn't want her to deal final blows herself, or have her hands be "as clean" as possible as the ones who are erased are either peons or secondary/tertiary characters : Supreme Leader isn't the one who splits Rhea's head open in this route, Rhea and Thales take each other out, heck, she doesn't want to liberate Fodlan from inhuman monsters anymore, it's Claude who parrots to whoever wants to listen that Rhea has to die (and yet, Supreme Leader still wants to make Garreg Mach Rhea's tomb... maybe it's a considerate gesture on her part, to have her reunite with her family?) Speaking of him if conditions are reunited, he "forces her" to kill him, because he betrays her first :'(

In CF, Supreme Leader - when she finally has the means (aka Billy!) to do so - attacks all of her enemies, even turning against the Agarthans (rip cornelia?) and it's only because the plot is held by duct tape and chewing-gum that she somehow avoids retaliation because Uncle is too stupid and wasted his nukes on Arianrhod instead of nuking Firdhiad when both Supreme Leader and Rhea would be there !

However, the facts still stand : Supreme Leader dealt a blow at the Agarthans, ended the Nabatean presence in Fodlan, personally erased Faerghus' line of Kings and conquered the Alliance.

Sure she tells Balthus she will crush everyone who doesn't side with her, but when it comes to Lords/Main antagonists... when CF had her swing Aymr - even against defeated characters who fell on their knees and aren't fighting anymore - SB brings out convoluted circumstances to either has her fight because she is attacked and thus on the defensive (which is rich when she's supposed to be the invader!) by an ally whose motivation never made sense but who is now suddenly betraying her and all of his former allies who joined with her (GG Clout) or... Rhea gets her Big Damn Hero moment, fulfilling the initial promise/oath she swore on that route (help humans to get rid of Agarthans) and supposedly dies in the process, while Supreme Leader - the oathbreaker - pulls out her best impression of Tuxedo Mask "my job here is done - but you didn't do a thing" ending on a High Five.

Imo it's very telling that the only main character who can be alive at the end of SB is Dimitri - because he is the character Supreme Leader wants dead at all costs, and if the Nopes!Devs wrote Zarhofl as they did, I wonder how they could and might have justified a metting between the two that doesn't end up in Supreme Leader Aymr'ing him (maybe Cornelia would have conviently warped there and stabbed him to death, so her hands would still be "clean" ?).

In short, I prefer CF!Supreme Leader (or her FE16 version sans the pandering) because she is determinate and wants to achieve her goals, even if she has to be ruthless to do so - and we see that ruthlessness (even if it's poorly executed) in CF, Supreme Leader kills named and main characters to MAGA (and to free humanity from those vile subhumans).

In SB, she is always... put in situations where she "has to" protect herself from either backstabbing allies, or, when push comes to shove, her enemies are conveniently at the same place at the same time and take each other out : FFS, it's Rhea who takes out the leader of the Agarthans, and it's Thales who removes Nabateans from Fodlan. What is all that determination good for if, in the end, she's not the one solving the issues?

Oh, and because I'm petty like that : why the fuck the sailor fuku, seriously - sure her red dress (the one from her legendary version!) isn't as, uh, battle compatible as, say, Queen Elincia's battle outfit, and yet there's something really disturbing about the Sailor Fuku. Supreme Leader is regal, commanding, even with the red dress. Her final outfit (Willy's armor retrofitted with boobplates?) is, well, a full suit of armor, Supreme Leader is a warrior and leading her troops to victory, she will battle and fight herself even in melee.

The Sailor Fuku is... just some generic Anime design, I know she has a plate but come on, comparing this to her Emperor battlesuit, it's almost as if we're not in the same genre anymore - it's war phase now, Supreme Leader is dead serious about her plans and her ambition, she's not the "school girl who will also go to war!" - compare the three outfits, which one doesn't scream "Emperor" to you?

So yeah, short (short) story : while I like SB for Shonen explosions and more exposition about Adrestia, imo, this route is worse for Supreme Leader's agency than any other route in FE16 (AG takes the cake in its last part though!) because while she has it, in the end, she doesn't do a thing with it :

MAGA? Dimitri cannot be killed in the game, she leaves the task to Clout who doesn't do it and worse, who can betray her :( so she has to kill him :(

Frre Humanity from the sekrit nabatean illuminati and the agarthan terrorists? She just kicks them from their homes (Agarthans managed to infiltrate Adrestia, she kicks them out of her land) and they managed to take each other out.

Sure, she knows how to highfive at the end of this route, but was it really worth all those sacrifices, aka, to get rid of conqueror and determinate!Supreme Leader to have instead sailor fuku!Supreme Leader who knows how to highfive?

I know they're not meant to be compared because different circumstances and all, but can you imagine a second, a Jugdral spin-off AU much like Nopes is, where Arvis wears a high school uniform but Siggy, Manfroy and Travant accidently kill each other so he gets the continent on a silver platter without having to do any fighting or planning himself?

That's Supreme Bullshit for Supreme Leader, and that's why I think this route doesn't paint her in the best light, especially compared to her FE16 version.

OC-tober Day 9: Relationships!

Going through all my main OCs to talk about some of their important relationships!

Main Girls:

Lark: Enters a Situationship with a prince after seemingly being the prophesized one he has been looking for. She is attached to him because he gets her out of her boring hometown and he is attached to her because she's proof that he's the one after hundreds of years to fulfill his royal duty. They're both a ticket to what the other wants, but hopefully they will engage with each other on a deeper level.

Cadence: Is recruited by the head of the uni photography club, Ira, who quickly becomes one of her closest friends (maybe more???). Ira is great but they're obsessed with getting a pic of the hero that has been protecting campus (aka Cadence's secret identity). A very "get me pictures of Spiderman" scenario.

Kama: A "fire and ice" couple as her long term prince bf was kidnapped and stripped of his soul to become an ice king monster and she got pheonix powers to try and save and/or kill him. Ngl it's not looking good for the lovebirds 🥺 I tend to focus on the drama of their separation but they have a really sweet slowburn romance before it all goes wrong.

Micha: Needs to fix herself before she's really capable of any meaningful relationships. She's cut contact with her family and only interacts with clients as a bodyguard, but after she's framed she's forced to open up to others out of necessity. Two of these are a bounty hunter who eventually becomes a mentor figure and the kidnappee himself (who might have staged the whole thing...)

Splatoon OCs: (omg the first time they've been brought up this month. Yippie!!!)

Captain 3: Of course closest with Callie, Marie, and Cuttlefish. Of them however she's spent the most time with Cuttlefish, having been recruited by him and explored the Deep Sea Metro with him. She's become an unofficial granddaughter along with Callie and Marie. Of the Squid Sisters, Captain 3 is actually a little closer to Callie - they bonded over mind control shenanigans after the events of Octo Expansion.

4: Closest with Marie! Marie would never admit it, but 4 reminds her of Callie when she was younger and has a soft spot for her because of that. 4 would also never admit that Marie pushing her has actually really helped her improve her skills a lot. 4 is a fan of Off The Hook, but has only met them through Captain 3 / 8. She wasn't there for the events of Alterna (girl got on the wrong train and by the time she made her way to the Splatlands it was over lol) but is big into Deep Cut too!

8: Obviously she's closest to Pearl and Marina. They both did everything to make sure 8 was comfortable after arriving to the surface and 8 is constantly hanging out at their place or backstage at all of their concerts. 8 is also fond of Cuttlefish, 3, and Isopadre after their events in the Deep Sea Metro and she checks up with them regularly. She's become a fan of Squid Sisters through Marina and the two were excited to meet them through Cuttlefish and Captain 3. As of Side Order, 8 has been introducing Acht to everyone as well <3

Neo 3: Neo 3 and Little Buddy have been together pretty much forever. Ultimate besties! I imagine in the Splatland outskirts (where Neo is from) that Salmonids are pretty common. I think they grow at a different rate than Inklings/Octolings though, and they communicate through Vibes more than anything else. After the events of Alterna, the folks from Inkopolis headed back and put Neo (and Little Buddy) in charge of the Splatlands branch of the Squidbeak Splatoon. This included acting as Marie's stand in for being Deep Cut's "boss." But rather than treating her with the same reverence as Boss Marie, Deep Cut has instead taken Neo under their wing as an apprentice. They're actually a good influence and thanks to them, Neo 3 has actually started feeling at home in the big city!

You know, I think the Regent (who is the King's Consort and who is currently holding power while the King is incapacitated) would congratulate Zaphia. He is a true shifter, just as MC, and just like Zaphia the King fell head over heels for him and took it upon himself to lavish him in gifts and provide for him.

The Regent would be like "well done. Good match" at Zaphia. They did the same thing, after all...

Alright ramble time for my dark matter swordsman headcanon arc lore whatever the fuck

Wall under the cut!

So this guy gets Yeet from the hive mind right? And has no idea what to do. So he lives in a cave in dream land just trying to get by until gooey and friends find him.

Gooey immediately recognizes his brother and swordsman is just stunned this guy is alive! Somehow gooey convinced his caretakers (Rick Kine and Coo) to take him in too.

I haven’t got an exact timeline so this can take place before or after his character arc:tm: but someone makes the suggestion he can work as a bodyguard since the guy is a bit sturr crazy.

Some mad lad suggests he guards dedede’s castle and dedede is (very understandably) highly against this. Meta knight proposes a compromise. He works on the halberd for a time and If meta determines this guy really is no threat then he can work at the castle.

So we get dark matter swordsman arc 1: finding your purpose when you feel you’ve lost it.

Again don’t know the details but I know what plot beats I wanna hit. One is the crew slowly warming up to the beast, as well as swordsman doing so in tern, learning how to socialize and stuff because you know this guy has the social skills of a grape.

Another is him and meta knight having w conversation about purpose. Swordsman admits he isn’t sure what he should do, and also admits he feels unworthy of the kindness given to him. But is unsure how to fix these conflicting feelings. So meta suggests finding something he wants to do, a smaller goal to start out.

Dark matter swordsman admits he wants to become someone worthy of the kindness given to him, Someone proud to be called gooeys brother. Meta says that’s a start.

Also somewhere in there meta and swordsman duel and he’s crictened an honorary member of the Meta Knights. After that the crew calls him Matter Knight and he likes the name.

Some time after that is when we get the ‘sic arc’ aka dark matter gets sick because dark matter and positive emotional energy don’t mix very well and the guy has finally reached a limit. So he needs to rest while he adapts, kinda like what happened to gooey a long time ago. Dark meta knight is here btw I forgot to mention he’s friends with swordsman don’t worry bout it I’ll go over that another day.

Anyways after the guy recovers is when he gets the new form aka legs aka the gijinka I draw mostly. Gg.

Anyways after that is when he actually gets to work at castle dedede. The king sets him at his ‘spare castle’ that’s overlooking Cappy town (because of course the guy has two castles) and honestly the guys a little awkward at first but with the good word from meta knight and a few cappy friends who got to know him he’s kinda thriving.

Anyways long story short edgy goop sword boy gets a job and is now one of dedede’s bodyguards because the irony makes me giggle

I agree with most of the points here but not really the one about Darius. Good all along doesnt mean "wont let his own bad traits affect him at one point and cause him to make bad judgements".

Even if he suspected foul play around his mentor, we also have to consider that he has been under tremenoudous stress to be a double agent and the only one suspecting Belos of murdering his own GG (or at least supecting sth was terribly wrong there). Thoughts he cannot voice or share, having his perception of the goverment crumble around him and then actively deciding to stay in this awful environmnet and work against Belos.

So just because he has a noble goal, that doesnt make him automatically a person who will make all the right decisions. After all, all this does not foster a healthy mindset and bitterness is sth very much present, espically when we consider his rebel mentor next to the very loyal Hunter. And especially when one slip up and Hunter could tattle to Belos, jeopardizing Darius' position which he worked to maintain. Makes sense why he only responded positively after Hunter showed him he wont go spill all this to Belos and end up killing them both. 

Was his behavior bad in Any Sport? Absolutely, but we are seeing the result of years of working in the worst possible environment, being the sole keeper of a nasty secret about his mentors death and having Belos relish in his suffering, as the man specifically put a portrait in his fake, purposefully created mindscape where Darius is saddened at Hunters initiation (showing Belos is very well aware of how this whole situation has been affecting Darius).

Plus Darius is not even the only one whose less than stellar life has caused him to make bad calls. Lilith is another glaring example, where years of cultic influences almost destroyed her relationship with Eda and had her commit pretty despicable acts in s1.

Also Eda herself, who after being cursed, succumbed to loneliness and depression, causing her to spiral and reject people in her life, and made her unable to communicate properly. Say what you will but calling your 8 year old child your roommate, is not normal by any means and then said child had to be the one to offer to be adopted, after years of being with Eda. Her crippling insecurities prevented her from acting as she should have acted with King, even though she managed to raise him properly.

So the point is, characters like Darius, Lilith and Eda while being good people in general or working to be ones, have had things in their life happen that have affected them in all sorts of ways. And this often manifested in bad behaviors, wrong calls and misjudgmenets of situations. It's all very realistic I think, given that those adults grew up in dictatorial cult, which affected them greatly, esp the ones who had to work in the belly of the beast aka the government. 

And what is important, is that all of them are working on said behaviors with Lilith totally revamping her life, Eda embracing her curse as well as opening up emotionally, and Darius making efforts to help Hunter and distance him away from Belos, once the boy ran away after HM. 

I’ve seen people state that Dana Terrace has a tendency to emasculate the characters she doesn’t like, especially villains . Like often making them be defeated incredibly easily or making them do things that go against their established characters. From what you’ve seen do you think this is true?

Honestly, I think you can make the case that she does this to characters she DOES like as well; not the emasculation part, but the out-of-character moments. The most recent offender is The Collector who was previously established as enjoying watching Belos abuse and murder grimwalkers and is looking forward to the Day of Unity, but in For the Future, none of these malicious traits are present, and he seemingly does a 180 in his characterization. They're just a Lonely Kid with superpowers instead of the chaotic god child who apparently delights in misery.

It's one thing to present a character one way and gradually reveal the layers underneath but such a drastic change with seemingly no explanation is not character development, it's a retcon.

The show also has a problem with setting up how some characters change: Darius was initially presented as being contemptuous of Hunter but warms up to him once he stands up to him. Considering his history with the previous Golden Guard, shouldn't Darius know what Hunter goes through instead of assuming Hunter is spoiled? Darius' rebellion against Belos is also muddled; he becomes a fully-fledged CATs member because he cares about people and is suspicious of the Day of Unity. Except, I don't believe we're ever shown why this is the case. Darius is a Coven Head and it's his job to get more recruits and was trained by the previous Golden Guard. Logically, he should be a firm believer, but instead he uses his status to climb the ranks to act as a mole. This is a great starting point but we're missing what triggered this in the first place. The only hint is that the death of his mentor is what started his rebellion against Belos. But this isn't really expanded upon and it raises more questions. How did he find out that it was Belos who killed his mentor? How much did the Golden Guard tell him? If the death of the previous GG is what made him turn on Belos, then why does he treat Hunter poorly? If you're going to have a character act as a mole, then at least explain what their motives are and how they were developed.

This shows how fundamentally flawed the world-building in The Owl House is; characters only follow Belos when it's convenient to the plot. So in the end, you have characters who oppose Belos because they're on Team Good Guy (Darius, Raine, Eberwolf), the ones who support him because they've always been Evil (Kiki and Terra) and the rest of the isles who either celebrate him at a parade or denounce Eda's potential execution because two teenagers said so.

Anyway, onto the villains...

Odalia is essentially a war profiteer who doesn't care that her entire species is about to be wiped out by the DOU, even though logically she should. She cares about her company and a company can't profit if the majority of your customers are dead. She is tyrannical, cruel, and greedy and it's fun to watch her be reduced to a mere servant. I don't mind this development for Odalia, however, it does point to the trend of taking powerful enemies and reducing them to a shadow of themselves for comedic purposes.

Kikimora was presented as a terrifying enforcer of the Emperor's laws but she got progressively more pathetic to the point where she had to impersonate a teenager and serve as the right hand to Boscha, a character we haven't seen properly since Season 1. She is presented as power-hungry, pathologically ambitious, and has an intense desire to earn Belos' favor, but when he turns against her, she helps King find the Collector, effectively helping defeat Belos. But recently, she is back to her Season 2 shenanigans by taking over Hexside and the question is why exactly? We saw her world crumble before her and she reverts back to her previous traits instead of actual characterization. A common interpretation is that she is just THAT obsessed with power that nothing can break it, which isn't...realistic. FtF doesn't show why Kiki does this, she just does. Perhaps because of the psychological damage of Belos betraying her she decides to continue with what she's always done, except that this isn't telegraphed clearly. Instead, she just comes off as a mini-boss before the final showdown.

That leaves Belos as the only real credible threat and while he is terrifying on a personal level, we never see him at his full power; for apparently being the most powerful "witch" in the isles, his magic doesn't really stand out from what was seen before. And in King's Tide, he was just playing with Luz. He is ultimately brought down by his own hubris and misplaced trust, and an over-powered god child. Belos' defeat is thematically appropriate so it's not as egregious as Kiki's but it does fall into the category of "Easily Defeated." Obviously, we'll have to wait for the finale to see if that trend continues.

Belos' defeat by the Collector seemed to set them up as the new threat in town, that Belos, for all of his power, was ultimately nothing and the mysterious Collector is a force to contend with. But no, the Collector is largely kept in check by King. So Belos' defeat doesn't do anything for either character; we don't get any reaction from Belos about his centuries-long plan blowing up in his face and the Collector isn't even bad, just misguided. As for the misunderstanding between King and the Collector and their "new game"? I don't think the Collector will actually do anything that will have lasting damage, not while Belos still breathes.

And that's a common problem the villains in this show have, any attempt at interiority or psychological depth is explicitly rejected by the show (remember Kiki and her family, how she was worried about being disowned? Psyche! She'll drop everything for even a smidge of more power!) and the lesson seems to be "these characters have always been Evil and nothing will change that."

It can be fun watching villains go from intimidating to pathetic, but if that's all you do with them then it becomes boring fast, at least for me. Ultimately, I think the biggest problem with the villains is that you're supposed to take them at face value: Belos, Kiki, Odalia, are Evil for petty reasons and will do anything for power. Not all villains need to be nuanced with complex characterization but if all of your villains are just Evil all the time and the text explicitly does not want you sympathizing with them or even showing a different side to them, then that's just a wasted opportunity to flesh out your world with interesting characters.

Belos’ use of flesh magic

Ever since “Hollow Mind” and the whole Grimwalker revelation, I’ve started to think a lot about Belos’ skills with what I would call flesh magic. 

1. Skin Glyphs and Palisman Souls

The first instances of such magics, chronologically speaking, is Philip carving himself with glyphs and using palisman souls as fuel. The glyphs are pretty straightforward since they mutate his flesh due to their nature of consuming whatever they are drawn on. As for the souls, they are the source of his palistrom curse, one that uses the bending of his flesh as a weapon (mostly seen in his two battles with Luz)

2. Artificial flesh magic

We have two instances of artificial magic being utilized in such ways. One is by Belos during his fight with Luz in the S1 finale, where he mostly utilizes this particular spell. And then in “Separate Tides” where Hunter uses his artificial magic staff in a very peculiar way - to form a weapon made from muscles. 

3. Grimwalkers

This might be the most obvious and blatant example of Belos’ skills with this magic. Not only creating what is in a sense “artificial person” but doing so over 30 times as we saw from the GG corpse pit in “King’s Tide”. This skill of his could also translate to another theory of mine aka the Titan’s heart in his throne room being also artificial. Read more here.

4. Sigils

Finally the culmination of Belos’ skills with the aforementioned magic - the creation of siglis that embed themselves on a person, acting not only as biological restrictors but also as kill switches. As we saw from “Hollow Mind”, the sigils were a trial and error for Belos, activating themselves prematurely and making a group of witches catatonic. Eventually he succeeded and was able to create not only the nine types that restrict everything but a specific form of magic, but also the Emperor’s Coven sigil which doesn’t restrict anything while still acting kill switch. 

Theory: From some talks in the TOH discord server, I have created a theory for another possible feature of the sigils, concerning the oracle coven. It is pretty peculiar that a coven with such a name has not demonstrated any ability to actually see in the future and that may actually be tied to the fact that Belos has restricted that form of magic. After all having people with the power of foresight when you have secret genocide plans, would be pretty inconvenient. So what better way to prevent that, than making it a feature of the oracle sigil.

I’ve forgotten exactly when/where we found out that Gil and Zeetha are twins, and I just reread GG in like … uh… post Christmas break, near the end of the party in England? Time is difficult.

Anyways: I know we all know they’re twins or at least siblings and have known for years but I can’t remember any in comic evidence beyond klaus going to skiffander

The reason you don't remember when/where we found out about it in canon is that we never have! We still barely have hints! The floofiness of the top part of Zeetha's hair matches Gil's...Klaus taught Gil some "ancient Skifandrian warrior discipline", a phrasing from Zeetha which suggests it's the sort of thing that only gets passed down kolee to zumil, and thus would need to come from someone he was pretty close to...Phli (or Kaja?) said in an AMA once that Skifrandrians don't like twins, which might've prompted Klaus to take one and run, and have him anticipating assassins 20(?) years later... The strongest recent hint is the flashback here showing Klaus coming through a mirror in Skifandrian gear with a baby held close to his chest. We don't know the verity of the flashback (whether it's true or Gil's guess), but Gil wouldn't know how Klaus was dressed so it's probably true, and thus clear indication that Klaus acquired baby Gil in Skifander.

Mostly what have, however, is a drawing Phil made on request in 2010 of Chump, aka Zeetha's father. Everything else is just the slowest fucking burn ever.

Also it goes hand in hand with the theory that Skifander is on Mars, based on the floating objects in Zeetha's memory of the voyage (now shown twice) and of course this iconic potential foreshadowing: "a lost Heterodyne or (ha) the Storm King, or a...a Martian prince or something."

As with tradition, I usually hike at the end of the year to contemplate the past year. Also, give me some quiet time before the New Year kicks in, and I am back to daily life.

This year I woke up early to watch Yibo perform a passionate & emotional 廿, catch GG’s traditional “charge!” pose & wishes, and happily smile like a 🤡.

Still on a high with all the fandom feeds, I continued hiking on the Hoapili Trail, aka King’s Highway. At the end of the trail, there is a light called Hanomanioa. Right at the edge of the lava cliff, someone placed corral creating this:

So I thought this seems fairly recent, decided to check our google maps. What did I see?
