Just a quick correction: the shooter, Susan Lorincz, didn’t “engage” with Owens’ children, she assaulted them.

So apparently the current protocol for the police—when a white person shoots, chokes to death or otherwise kills an innocent unarmed Black person—is to A) not immediately arrest the killer B) not charge them with any crime C) refuse to release their name, and D) give them ample time to scrub their social media accounts of any incriminating activity long before any “official” investigation is conducted.

Unsurprisingly, this is, almost without fail, the exact opposite of what the police and media do when a murder victim is white but the suspect is Black: A) the Black suspects are immediately arrested B) immediately charged with a felony C) and not only are Black suspects instantly named, they are instantly vilified and we know any mistake they ever made from preschool onwards, and D) the police and corporate media outlets immediately share every scrap of their social media.

This is America in black & white. It’s the centuries-old, structure of interlocking systems working precisely as intended.

Calls are growing for the arrest of a woman accused of shooting her neighbor Friday in Florida in an incident a nationally renowned civil rights attorney described as an “unjustified killing.” The children of the victim, identified as Ajike “AJ” Owens, were playing in a field near an apartment complex in Ocala when, attorney Ben Crump said, an unidentified white woman, 58, “began yelling at them to get off her land and calling them racial slurs.” According to Crump’s statement, after the woman yelled slurs at Owens’ children, they accidentally left an iPad behind, which the woman took. When one of Owens’ children went to retrieve it, she threw it, hitting the boy and cracking the screen. Owens walked across the street to speak to her neighbor after she learned what happened, Crump said. “She knocked on the door, and at that point, the woman allegedly shot through the door, hitting AJ, who later died from her injuries,” Crump said.

A family is demanding the arrest of a white woman who allegedly shot and killed her Black neighbor, Ajike Owens, sparking outrage and calls for justice in the community.

This is 74 year old Canadian Israeli Peace activist Vivian Silver.

Silver dedicated her life to promoting peace. she co-founded Women Wage Peace, an interfaith grassroots organization, and was a board member of the human rights organization "Bzelem". she volunteered in "On the Way to Recovery," accompanying cancer patients from the Gaza Strip to hospitals in Israel. she was co-CEO at Ajik - an Arab-Jewish organization working since 2000 to support Bedouin society in the Negev and promote shared life for Arabs and Jews throughout the country.

When asked about her aspirations for the future of her grandchildren, she said, "May they have Arab friends, Palestinians. May they not be afraid."

On October 4th 2023, Silver helped to organize a peace rally in Jerusalem which attracted 1,500 Israeli and Palestinian women.

The last connection with her was on the morning of october 7th, when she hid in a closet and texted her son. she wrote "well, the terrorists are in my house". he wrote "i'm on your side". "i feel you" she answered.

She was believed to be kidnapped, but today, 38 days later, her body was identified.

May this kind soul rest in peace. The mind can't comprehend that this was her fate. Thank you for everything you did. May we will get to witness something of your aspirations come true in our lifetime.
