shaved ice with condensed milk, ai-yu jelly, basil seeds, nata de coco, taro & yam Q

The crushed ice was soaked with ai-yu jelly syrup, which was overwhelmingly sweet, and slightly acrid. However, it worked harmoniously with the bland but satisfyingly chewy taro and yam q’s.  Nata de coco is the same everywhere (pre-made in factories), and basil seeds add a jellied textural variety that can be spared the title of “sweetened slime bomb.”

Matcha - $5.95 

matcha shaved ice, matcha pudding, red bean, boba, sweet potato balls

I had low expectations going into this one despite the positive reviews on Yelp because one dude said that “their matcha was of poor quality” and the pudding was artificial tasting.  Honestly, at this point, I couldn’t even discern the quality of individual components because my tongue was so numb. Everything paired well with each other, and this was definitely the preferred dish over the sugary lychee slush. 

4/5 overpriced but decent for America

I was feeling adventurous and ordered the Red Plum with Aiyu Jelly today from I-Tea. It tastes exactly like the dried plums so if you like that then this is the drink for you. In love with this aiyu dessert from Nine Fresh. A cold dessert that warms my heart.

Superbly light with a gentle hint of sweetness, and a texture so smooth you almost forget what friction is. It's literally water in jelly form. My go-to comfort food instead of snacking on tibbits nowadays.
