Zuko reacts to dating an Airbender Reader

Background you grew up in the earth kingdom with a family of air benders and earth benders. Your great grand father fled somewhere safe in the earth kingdom where he settled down and started a family with your great grandma.

You met Aang and the gang while they were in Ba Sing Se and had been in the Jasmine Dragon where Zuko and Iroh worked a few times.

After you join the gang and the Solar Eclipse, you met Zuko again in the Western Air Temple. You two recognized each other.

Y/N: "Lee?"

Zuko: "Um my real name is Zuko."

You were confused then after learning about the gang's side of the story you maintain caution and kinda...stay out of it.

After he join you two started talking, it was awkward cause your interactions with him was positive though nothing special.

Zuko would be shock to find out you're an airbender, you explain about your great grandfather was on his way to one of the air temples when he heard of Sozin attacking. So he fled to the deepest part of the Earth Kingdom and hide his identity as a nomad.

Zuko didn't blame him one bit. He is honestly glad you hid yourself cause he would've mistaken you as the Avatar if he known if there was survivors in the Earth Kingdom.

Zuko starts to develop a crush on you when you got your own little trip with him.

You were there when he faced Azula in the war, you and Katara had to team up to stop her after she shot Zuko.

You two started dating after the war is over. It started when you got your airbending arrow tattoos becoming an Air Nomad. Though you guys kept it a secret till many years later you two tie the knot.

Dates include trips to Emerald Island, chilling near the duck pond, flying together on your own bison and his dragon. (Thank Avatar WOTW for the date night with Jake and Neytiri.)

thoughts on the atla live action trailer:

looks like we're definitely getting more of the air nomad genocide. i'm hoping this means more flashbacks and development of the air nomads in general, but it definitely sets the tone for the series if this is what they're starting out with

azula shooting an arrow?? she doesn't seem to be wearing eyeliner and lipstick like in the promo shots, so i'm guessing it's a younger azula. i'm interested to see where this is going

Cultural Practice: Movie Aang’s Tattoos

Judging by some of the fanart I’ve seen, Aang’s elaborate Air Nomad tattoos are probably the only aspect of The Last Airbender movie that was positively received by the fandom.

The design of these tattoos were inspired by yantra tattoos from Southeast Asia. Yantra (यन्त्र) are sacred geometric designs utilized in many Indian religions. In Southeast Asia, yantra designs are paired with lines of Buddhist psalms, as the markings are believed to grant protection and good fortune to the recipient. These tattoos are traditionally done by monks with metal needles.

As a design concept, I think the decision to give Aang yantra-like tattoos was a clever touch. It’s a subtle way of telling the audience that the Air Nomads are similar to Buddhist monks. However, I must say that I’m not a big fan of the back tattoo. The design at the center of it looks more like a European alchemical sigil than a yantra and the cross imagery feels very out of place. But I will admit that the overall design still looks pretty cool.

This drawing has me in a choak-hold, Istg, the artstyle, the emotion in Bumi's face, the way he painted the Air Nomad tattoo ink onto his skin to feel less of a failure.

I feel Bumi would see himself as a failure and try to make up for that in other ways. He just feels he'll never compare to anyone, especially Kya and Tenzin since Katara focuses on teaching his sister waterbending and Aang focuses and teaching his brother Airbending.

He feels he doesn't amount to much and isn't as loved as his other siblings - pushed aside and left to his own thing.

I always thought Bumi would go through a Rebellious phase where he would run off and hang around the wrong people, being well aware their not the right people for him to be around but they make him feel accepted and worth something.

Or in another case he spends all his day training for the United Nations, thinking unless he pushes himself past his limits he'll never get anywhere, wearing himself out to the point he's physically and emotional tired.

Just imagine a young Bumi, after spending hours of training in different fields, trying with his fists and swords or other combat weapons and his fists being bruised and bloody - sitting alone in his room as he contemplates his next session and what he can do to improve.

Then, in walks Kya. She's staring at how beaten up he looked. Bumi looked up at her, his knee bouncing as he just exchanged a silent look with her, a cut on his cheek from his sword fighting practice. He looks tired. He sniffed, wiping some blood from his nose as he now avoids her eyes.

Tenzin comes to find his elder siblings for dinner, raising his brow at Kye before looking into Bumi's room himself.

Bumi refuses to look up at them, feeling their stare, the same stare his parents gave him when he was younger and covered himself in the light blue ink, tears falling down his face.

"You were just not meant to be an Airbender, Bumi."

Aang said softly, kneeling down and putting his hand in Bumi's shoulder before glancing back at Katara, frowning at his wife.

"How about you wash up for dinner, sweetie?" Katara suggested, standing at the door, holding Tenzin in her arms.

Bumi didn't answer and looked down, clenching his fists as he looked at him. Bumi feels his fathers hand move away and shuts his eyes tightly as Aang leaves the room and then looked up at the mirror as the door shut, blue ink falling down his forehead as he sniffled and hiccuped.

Bumi looked up at them, narrowing his eyes and his brow before getting up, storming towards the door and slamming it in his siblings face.

He grits his teeth before sliding down against the door, pulling his knees to his chest and sobbing.

So in the ursa kyoshi au is azusa on the island or is she off causing chaos against their father?

And the gold scars do other cultures do it? Like the earth kingdom in bronze and the water tribe in blue or silver? I assume the air nomads wouldn't unless invited to while visting.

Hello, and thanks for asking!

Azula is a very important character in the Kyoshi Warriors AU. By the time the story begins, she has long left Kyoshi Island. The Gaang learn about Ruolan from what her brother, Jian Li—who they'll later know as Zuko—tells them about her.

She disappeared one night and took Kyoshi's tessen fans with her, leaving no trace behind. Nobody knows why she left or where she was headed to, but Jian Li tells the Gaang that she had always wished to go back to their father, back to their old life, and he fears that's what she's doing: searching for a path back to what she thought was home.

As it turns out, Jian Li had a reason beyond protecting the Avatar for joining them—he also wished to look for his sister. "I won't stop her from going back if it's what she really wants," he tells them. "I'll worry, and I'll try to make her see why it's an insane idea—but I won't stop her. That's her own choice, her own sacrifices, to make. I just...I just want to see her again. I just want to know she's alright..."

So they promise to help him find her, whatever it takes. Mysterious Pai Sho players, crazy Fire Navy commanders, Rangi's spirit breaking havoc across the Earth Kingdom—nothing will stop them from finding Ruolan.

Azula is a very complex character and her disappearance and current whereabouts are a very big part of this AU. I hope to do her character justice and keep you all on the edge of your seat.

On another note, regarding the Kintsugi AU, I hadn't thought of that!

Kintsugi is a distinctly Fire Nation tradition, something that they use to differentiate themselves from other cultures and deepen their own sense of cultural superiority.

However, the idea that the Earth Kingdom and the Water Tribes have (or had) something similar is incredibly interesting! The Air Nomads already have their distinct tattoos, but the Earth Kingdom sealing the scars with a form of bronze while the Water Tribes use something akin to silver is brilliant!

Perhaps these traditions were lost outside of the Fire Nation during the War. Kintsugi would have become a rarity and something "inherent" to the Fire Nation, shooting up its value as a direct result of its apparent disappearance in the rest of the world.

Some Old Families in the Earth Kingdom and the Masters and Royalty of the Northern Water Tribe (isolated as they are) could still practice Kintsugi, but they would be rare and the tradition itself would still be considered Fire Nation in nature.

Would Toph's family still practice Kintsugi? What about Yue's?

Awkward early relationship Kataang dating headcanons: Okay so the first big thing Aang does after the war is delivering ceasefire messages from the Fire Nation while Katara goes home to rebuild, and they exchange SO MANY LETTERS Their letters are so long with so many crossed out parts because they're trying to be romantic but all they end up doing is rambling about their daily lives Aang always signs his letters "yours" and Katara signs hers "with love" (Aang actually squealed when he got his first letter from her) Aang will get her ingredients for medicines she wants to try making that the SWT doesn't have and this one time he sends her a watercolor paint set from the Fire Nation and Katara is In Love Katara sends back lots of handmade stuff, and once she gets the hang of using her paint set she starts making cute little pictures of stuff she sees When they do reunite they spend most of their time in the SWT, so their PDA isn't ridiculous but expect lots of tight hugs they're suddenly too shy to give The first time Aang wears a parka he looks so cute Katara feels her heart is going to explode They do that thing where they're holding hands and looking away from each other while blushing furiously Katara kind of acts like she always has (compliments, hugs, cheek kisses) but when Aang starts mimicking that behavior Katara.exe stops working They are so shy that Sokka dies from secondhand cringe Speaking of Sokka, he will try to assert his dominance as Katara's older brother, like sitting between them when they're making heart eyes at each other Katara actually starts calling Aang "sweetie" out of spite just to make Sokka feel awkward, and Aang catches on because he also wants to make Sokka suffer, and it takes years for it to develop into an actual nickname they use When Katara gets into charcoal she tries drawing Aang but she gets so fed up with his intricate tattoos that she literally starts crying oh god Aang is in love with her and knows it but he's too scared of saying it so he'll keep whistling I love you in an Air Nomad whistle code, and he starts screaming internally when Katara repeats it without knowing what it means You would not look at these two goobers on a date and think that they'd kill and die for each other The first time they try making out it doesn't work because they're smiling so much A lot of the things they used to do casually, like training together or sparring or even just cuddling, become a little awkward but they grow out of it and become more comfortable with each other Aang tries to flirt, it Does Not Work, Katara tries to flirt, which somehow goes even worse because she takes advice from Suki and Mai This phase passes, like all trying times But yeah Aang and Katara from ages 13/14 to 15/16 are just two babies who love each other so much and are trying to show it but have no clue how
