Okay so I'm going to put my thoughts on that last reblog here partially because i dont really want anyone to see is and partially because the op made a good point already and this will be more from my perspective as someone who is black, from a bad neighborhood and grew up in a similar situation that inspired gangsta rap.

A lot of rap, including gansta rap, is kinda sad. If you listen to enough of it and at all relate to the lyrics you'd understand, there's a lot of misery and sadness in it. Desire for escapism and a deeper desire to never go back to living that way.

It back when i was younger there were posts on the tumblr or sites like quizazz or faeries and vampires about how "emo" music was relatable and sad because it mirrored peoples experiences and there was this feeling/animosity towards hip hop/rap/pop for not being genuine like those emo/rock and how people had this like persecution fetish about how they'd be judged for liking thw music they listened to (admittedly more of the open hate was pointed at pop [specifically like justin Bieber or the jonas brothers lol]) and when rap got brought up into the mix it was so often written off attacked or dismissed for being kinda evil and vapid (i guess I'm looking for an easy way of saying they considered rap to be meaning less just about pointless violence, drugs ect) when for me rap even gansta rap has been a often times bitterly relatable.

I guess my point is... Listen to Biggie

My dear readers, the poll has officially ended and I have the order in which I shall discuss my lore.

Unfortunately these ramblings of mine take a while to put to the paper, and I have no desire to leave you without entertainment. Therefore, as I'm sure you can see, my characters have taken over my blog until the lore post is ready, and will continue to do so whenever this mad author requires a day by the seaside.

trying to actually post more of my art so here's a place to start

decided to use my girl áine as a way to get out of an art slump and try and help with my frustration with my art

was trying out a new way of coloring, i still like it but i'm not entirely sure how i feel about it

Funfact about celtic myth:

When a cruel Irish king tried to assault the celtic goddess, Aine after she tried to help him with his kingdom.

She bit his fucking ear off.

Now a fun thing about old irish laws about royalty is that anyone who is 'imperfect' (read: disabled/ missing a limb) is unfit to rule.

So biting his ear off meant he lost his right to rule and all his kingdom :)

Moral of the story, dont fuck with irish women or anyone for that matter

Also fun fact Aine is known as the Fae (Fairy) queen and a summer goddess

(i say summer goddess like that because celtic pantheon dont follow those, 'god of' rules. They have a fuck ton of talents and arent set in one thing)

I've been taking a break from illustrative art for a bit because I was Processing Some Stuff. For privacy I don't wanna explain why, but I discovered there was some nasty trauma imbedded in, like, the act of drawing for me. Got lit'chral PTSD and stuff and brain associated drawing = The Bad Times. So that's why I've been kinda dormant for a bit.

I've been slowing working through it, I'm sure one day I'll be able to draw again without getting the icky trauma feeling again. Slow, but steady. I've discovered drawing in different places helps, but only helps, doesn't solve it. But it's one step further! My therapist and I are working on it.

Hopefully I can still post updates of sewing and such. Maybe some very, very low-effort sketches if I can. But that is the situation with me! Thank you for reading :] Goldie gives u a warm dragon hug ❤️‍🔥🐉

There is a difference between "it's not that deep" and "it's not that nuanced". When we say "it's not that deep", it generally means that the level of symbolism is not nearly as important as others may suggest. That the text can be interpreted without substituting what they appear to be on the surface. Something that isn't deep can still be complex in its nuance, because real life is complex and nuanced! A story with zero depth (mere depiction of events, curtains are blue because I rolled a 6 on the die) can be an endlessly faceted demonstration of the world! Conversely, you can tell a story that is deep like the underwater portion of an iceberg, and it will lack nuance entirely. Satire whose referents have been somewhat lost to time can be like this. What each element of the story represents can be deep like an obscure album cut, but the story itself can still be basic as all get-out, "X bad Y good" stuff.

i just did a similar prompt for áine, who is this sim's niece, so how about facts for cathal? he's also a newbie to my sims universe, and i adore him and his personality tbh, but canon reasons make it hard for him to be included too much outside of random simblr posts like this

he is WILDLY younger than all his other siblings (like by 20 years) and was a total surprise baby. really, he's kind of a medical miracle because he was born after his mother went into menopause and was in her 40s, and no one knew he even existed until he randomly sprang into the world one august morning lmfao 💀

i think i mentioned it in one post but he's been a vegetarian for most of his life! actually, he declared himself a vegan when he was, like, six years old; he figured out what eggs and meat really were and then refused to eat animal products for decades. much to his dismay, he did have to introduce eggs and milk and whatnot back into his diet when he ran into a few nutritional deficiencies from veganism, but he's made his peace with being a vegetarian instead 🥦

he 100% does not remember his father outside of what he looked like. his dad (and aoife's younger brother) died very abruptly and super young of a heart attack when cathal was maybe three or so, and it's something that really nags at him. he's well aware there's nothing he can do about it, but he feels some strange mix of bad emotions that he never experienced a father-son bond, and that makes him 100x as serious about being a good father who'll be around a LONG time and just generally treating anyone younger than him well. he doesn't want anyone else feeling that type of loss 🥲

he actually writes an agricultural column in the local online newspaper and contributes to the county farmer's almanac lol. his big shtick is sustainability in agriculture and how new green technologies should be combined with traditional cultural approaches to the land so the earth doesn't die in, like, 10 years from excessive carbon emissions 🍃💚

he met his wife yvonne in a ballroom dance class! he was just bored one day in college and went to the class to do something new, and he immediately developed the biggest crush on the instructor. he just kept going back every week until he was brave enough to ask her out, and when he did, they hit it off. oh, and this is totally their thing - he has quite literally taken her dancing every weekend since they got together 😭😭😭
